1st (7) ![]() Serious Challenge |
10/3(-21%) | (7) Serious Challenge 10/3, Brother to fair hurdler Sheer Bravado (17f winner). Smart on Flat and shaped as if needing the run sent hurdling when fifth of 14 at Huntingdon after 6 months off. Will improve and needs considering. Useful on Flat in Ireland and he looks interesting upped in trip on his second hurdle run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Duffry Trixs |
66/1(-100%) | (4) Duffry Trixs 66/1, Runner-up only outing in Irish points (Jan 2024) but well held in Warwick bumper last month. Went close in sole point but he struggled in a bumper last month; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Golan Loop |
4/7(+65%) | (5) Golan Loop 4/7, Off mark in Irish points at second attempt and shaped like a stayer when third of 8 in novice hurdle at Plumpton last month, rallying gradually after outpaced before straight (also lost a shoe). Likely to have run to a similar level had he not been brought down at Ascot and is the clear pick on form Point winner who has shown clear promise over hurdles and sets a clear standard here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Loch Frisa |
11/1(-120%) | (6) Loch Frisa 11/1, Milan gelding. Half-brother to a point winner. Dam (h85) point winner/lightly raced over hurdles. Showed a bit when mid-field in Southwell bumper 6 weeks ago so warrants some respect now switched to hurdling. Well held in sole bumper but he needs watching in market on this switch to hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() Big Bert |
13/2(-18%) | (1) Big Bert 13/2, Beat only other finisher sole start in points (Mar 2024) and tuck to his task pretty well when second of 8 in bumper at Carlisle on Rules bow. Disappointed at Warwick since but not taken lightly on hurdles bow. Point winner who showed promise in his first bumper; needs close look on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Drumheller |
40/1(+39%) | (3) Drumheller 40/1, Fair third on his better bumper run last season but has been well held both starts over hurdles and will be of more interest in handicaps after this run. Well held in both hurdle runs this winter and minor handicaps will be more suitable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
GOLAN LOOP was running with credit before being brought down in the latter stages at Ascot 38 days ago and this looks a suitable opportunity for him to open his account under Rules. Warren Greatrex' gelding had previously finished third over this C&D and he rates as the one to beat. The biggest threat may emerge from Serious Challenge, who can build on his fifth-placed hurdles bow at Huntingdon earlier this month, ahead of Big Bert.
SERIOUS CHALLENGE was smart on the Flat for Jim Bolger and should prove all the better for his hurdles debut, so can find the required improvement to beat standard-setter Golan Loop.
The vote goes to Irish point winner GOLAN LOOP, who has shown clear promise in his two hurdle runs and sets a fair standard here.

![]() Smart Casual |
(4) 7/4(+0%) | (4) Smart Casual 7/4, Went close without success over hurdles and similar form both starts switched to larger obstacles this winter, second of 7 in handicap chase at Lingfield (2m, good to soft) last time. Solid claims. 12-race maiden but he's progressing over fences and this could be his day.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Diplomatic Ash |
(1) 9/4(+25%) | (1) Diplomatic Ash 9/4, Fair maiden hurdler who didn't get far on chase debut but got round ok when fourth of 11 over 2½m on second run in this sphere at Lingfield. Surprisingly short in the betting (sent off at 6/4) when third here (carried his head awkwardly) next time and the tongue strap is now refitted. Eight-race maiden but he's open to progress over fences and hard to rule out down 3lb.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bumpy Evans |
(7) 11/4(+50%) | (7) Bumpy Evans 11/4, Offered little in a trio of starts over hurdles for Ben Lund in 2022/23 but successful between the Flags subsequently, winning each of his last 2 starts, the latest in May 2024. 10 lb out of the weights now handicapping in this sphere for new yard but worth a second look all the same. Dual point winner but he has a bit to find at the weights on chase/handicap debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Extraordinary Man |
(3) 11/1(-175%) | (3) Extraordinary Man 11/1, Just the one success from 22 starts overall but has been placed on several occasions, too, both over hurdles and in this sphere. Not at his best with hood refitted at Huntingdon last time but now tried in blinkers and will have a chance if responding well to the new headgear. Can be forgiven most recent effort and likely to be in the mix with blinkers now added.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Miss Fedora |
(5) 18/1(+0%) | (5) Miss Fedora 18/1, Got back on track reverted to hurdling when landing 8-runner handicap at Cartmel (17.2f, soft) last summer. However, record stands at 0-9 over fences and she's 7 lb 'wrong' at the weights. Out of the weights but has the ability to figure on the pick of her best efforts.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Clondaw Robin |
(6) 25/1(+11%) | (6) Clondaw Robin 25/1, Still winless over fences (0-29 in this sphere and just 1-38 overall) and while he posted his best effort of present campaign when third at Lingfield (2m, good to soft) last time, he was 8 lengths adrift of the re-opposing runner-up Smart Casual that day and is 8 lb out of the handicap here. 29-race maiden over fences; has something to find from 8lb out of the handicap.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Although a 12-race maiden, SMART CASUAL has proved a model of consistency throughout the past year and compensation could be on the cards. The seven-year-old arrives on the back of a solid second at Lingfield and a similar performance may prove sufficient. Diplomatic Ash shouldn't be inconvenienced by today's shorter trip and he must enter the reckoning in these calmer waters, while first-time blinkers could spark some improvement in Extraordinary Man.
SMART CASUAL was a beaten favourite (not for the first time) at Lingfield last month but that was a creditable effort nonetheless and he has shown more than enough to suggest that a race of this nature will be within his grasp. Extraordinary Man should make his presence felt if taking well to the new headgear and Bumpy Evans merits respect, despite being 10 lb 'wrong' on this handicap/chase debut for new yard, on the back of two wins between the flags.
Diplomatic Ash is open to progress but might struggle giving so much weight away to the equally progressive SMART CASUAL.

![]() Risk It All |
(7) 2/7(+57%) | (7) Risk It All 2/7, Easy 6-length winner of 2m minor event at Nort-sur-Erdre only outing on Flat for Elisabeth Allaire. Very strong in the betting and shaped well on hurdles debut at Kempton last week, taking keen hold but sticking to his task. More to come and should take all the beating. Made a promising start to his hurdle career when third at Kempton in December; key player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Rogue Tornado |
(4) 11/4(+61%) | (4) Rogue Tornado 11/4, Fairly useful Flat winner who ran well in that sphere last time. Bled on his only previous try over hurdles but he's in good hands and not without hope. Pulled up on hurdle debut in September but in good form on the Flat of late; interesting.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dotties Star |
(2) 25/1(+50%) | (2) Dotties Star 25/1, Third a bumper at the start of her career but only modest on the Flat and limited encouragement in a novice over C&D on hurdling debut. Modest maiden on the Flat who was soundly beaten on last month's C&D hurdle debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Simply Ed |
(5) 150/1(-50%) | (5) Simply Ed 150/1, Well held in varied events on Flat and makes very little appeal on hurdle debut for new yard. Tongue tied. Needs to take a big step forward on hurdle/stable debut; tongue-tie added.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Having opened his account in good style at Southwell last month, Land Of Moon must enter the reckoning in his follow-up bid. However, a 7lb winner's penalty will make life tougher for the son of Spanish Moon and RISK IT ALL is preferred. The four-year-old looked a likely improver on his third-placed hurdles bow at Kempton 31 days ago and he could take advantage of a handy 13lb weight-for-age allowance. Rogue Tornado is also noted.
French Flat winner RISK IT ALL made a pleasing start to hurdling when third in a juvenile at Kempton a month ago and, having been found a good opportunity, he can probably open his account in this sphere now. Land of Moon is the biggest threat, although Rogue Tornado would be a player if able to replicate his Flat form.
With his age allowance, this looks an inviting opportunity for RISK IT ALL to open his account over hurdles.

![]() Squiggles |
(2) 2/1(-7%) | (2) Squiggles 2/1, 45,000 buy after winning point in Ireland. Chased home decent types in maidens before winning on handicap debut (Doncaster, 24.4f), looking an out and out stayer, ridden 3 out and found plenty. Up 5 lb but lightly-raced and remains of interest for excellent yard. Improving 6yo who made a winning start to handicaps last time; respected off 5lb higher.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fortuna Ligna |
(3) 11/4(+31%) | (3) Fortuna Ligna 11/4, Decent third at Ascot in November (closely matched with Midnightreflection) and build on that, running respectably in a much warmer handicap than this last-time (Sixth of 8, Kempton, 24.6f). Respected. Only the two wins but she's a strong stayer who needs serious consideration down in class.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Midnightreflection |
(1) 7/2(+56%) | (1) Midnightreflection 7/2, C&D winner isn't the force of old but fared better last twice, fourth of 10 in a handicap at Warwick last month and ran to a similar level in first-time blinkers, fourth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (23.1f, good to soft, 20/1) 10 days ago. Should be competitive in an open looking race. Recent efforts have been more encouraging but she still needs to find a little more.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() River Tyne |
(5) 4/1(-78%) | (5) River Tyne 4/1, Course winner scored on 3 of her last 4 over fences, career-best when winning a 6-runner handicap chase at Fontwell (26f, soft) 32 days ago, joined 3 out but rallied to lead, showed a game attitude. Arrives in good heart and one for the shortlist racing off an 8 lb lower mark over hurdles today. In cracking form over fences and needs serious consideration back over hurdles.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ellie's Warrior |
(7) 12/1(+33%) | (7) Ellie's Warrior 12/1, Beaten a fair way both starts in bumpers and similar story in maiden hurdles. Makes handicap debut from 1 lb out of the handicap (following wind surgery) and others preferred. Shown little in two bumpers and three starts over hurdles; has been given wind surgery.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
River Tyne reverts to hurdles on a 5lb lower mark than when landing a Fontwell chase on Boxing Day, but she is winless from six previous outings over timber and slight preference is for SQUIGGLES. A 5lb rise for a neck success over Doncaster's extended 3m last month may seem a little harsh, but James Owen's lightly-raced mare has scope for improvement. C&D winner Midnightreflection showed a bit more promise when not beaten too far at Market Rasen 10 days ago.
Lightly-raced Squiggles and prolific chaser River Tyne will both need to be ridden aggressively to bring their stamina into the mix and that could play into the hands of live outsider GATA BAN who has shown signs of promise on his last two runs and will be nursed into the race by a jockey who excels under patient tactics. Fortuna Ligna and Midnightreflection have both operated at a higher level than this, and a revival from either would not come as a surprise.
Squiggles is respected but a chance is taken on FORTUNA LIGNA who ran well in a higher grade last time.

![]() Invincible Nao |
(3) 5/2(+0%) | (3) Invincible Nao 5/2, Opened chase account with a wide-margin victory at Fakenham (21f, soft) in February before finishing a fine second at Sandown. All the better for return when second at Leicester, beaten only by a subsequent winner. Big shout if staying longer trip. Shaped as though this trip might suit when second to a subsequent winner latest; player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Vision De Maine |
(5) 3/1(+40%) | (5) Vision De Maine 3/1, Irish point winner who has made an excellent start (at around 3m) in this sphere, scoring at Uttoxeter and Lingfield before an excellent second of 8 back at Lingfield. Excuses at Wincanton since (found to have been struck into) so expected to bounce back. Headgear on. Had excuses when pulled up latest; could resume progress in the newly fitted cheekpieces.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Whydah Gally |
(6) 7/2(+59%) | (6) Whydah Gally 7/2, Hit the target twice in handicaps chases at Lingfield last season but yet to hit top form this term and needs to take a big step forward. Handles most ground and has the ability to get involved but he comes with risk.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fantastikas |
(1) 6/1(-50%) | (1) Fantastikas 6/1, On a losing sequence and last of 4 finishers at Haydock 4 weeks ago. Career-low mark and good-value amateur booking are the positives. Hasn't won for 3 years but could figure with a capable 7lb amateur booked down in class.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Morfee |
(4) 15/2(+32%) | (4) Morfee 15/2, At least as good as ever having another try at chasing last season, winning twice, including this race off this mark. Well held first 2 starts this season but did show a bit more when third over hurdles at Fakenham. No surprise to see him go well. C&D winner but out of sorts since returning from a break and easy to look elsewhere.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Northern Poet |
(2) 8/1(-191%) | (2) Northern Poet 8/1, Recorded a hat-trick switched to fences in the second half of 2022/23. Lightly raced since but mark is fair and he was denied only by an improving sort at Plumpton on return. That form has been boosted and he's one to be interested in. C&D winner who was a good second over C&D latest but the forecast rain would be a concern.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Invincible Nao is very interesting now upped in trip and the 2m5f winner has shaped as though it may suit, but the safer option appears to be C&D winner NORTHERN POET. Nick Gifford's 10-year-old returned from seven months off and wind surgery to chase home a progressive sort over this track and trip last month, and he can improve for that pipe-opener. Whydah Gally may be best of the remainder off a tumbling mark.
INVINCIBLE NAO was clear of the others when runner-up to a subsequent winner at Leicester and can go one better having been eased 1 lb. Northern Poet has been beaten only by a couple of progressive sorts on his last 2 starts here and is the obvious threat.
A few to consider but it could be worth chancing FANTASTIKAS now down to a class 4 with a capable amateur booked.

![]() Gorcombe Moonshine |
(7) 10/3(+33%) | (7) Gorcombe Moonshine 10/3, Fair hurdler and sole victory came over fences back in December 2023. Ran well after 6 months off when second in a chase at Fontwell (17.8f) last month and has to be of interest back over the smaller obstacles with yard in good form. Reached the frame over hurdles and fences in four of his last five runs; in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Eliza Dolittle |
(5) 7/2(-17%) | (5) Eliza Dolittle 7/2, Career-best when winning 11-runner handicap hurdle at this course (20.5f, good to soft) 42 days ago by ¾ length from Tara Iti, went with enthusiasm, headed 2 out but rallied to lead final 100 yds. Up 3 lb but should be in the mix again. Off the mark when beating Tara Iti here (2m4f) last time; big player again back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sawpit Samantha |
(9) 4/1(+56%) | (9) Sawpit Samantha 4/1, No real impact for Sam Drinkwater but fitted with a hood/tongue tie, she made more of an impact starting out for new yard when third of 11 at Plumpton (20.5f) last month. Claims if she can build on that. Good third here (2m4f) on stable/seasonal debut last month; player if she can back that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Grasshopper Time |
(3) 9/2(+36%) | (3) Grasshopper Time 9/2, Fair maiden hurdler who may have needed first run for 7 months when third of 5 at Uttoxeter and build on that with fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, heavy) 38 days ago, weakened late on. Has had wind surgery since and he wouldn't need to improve much to be challenging for honours. 0-12 but mark continues to fall and he could find more on his first run after wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tara Iti |
(2) 5/1(-67%) | (2) Tara Iti 5/1, It's 14 outings since his last win in 2023 but he's finished in the frame on his last four runs. Didn't find as much as looked likely when third of 8 in a handicap hurdle at Fakenham (20f, soft) 26 days ago. Back down in trip shouldn't be a problem and has good claims in a winnable race. Didn't fire at Fakenham latest but he was in good form at this track before that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mount Washington |
(4) 9/1(+36%) | (4) Mount Washington 9/1, Showed a fair level of ability on first of 2 starts in bumpers but mixed record in 6 starts over hurdles to date, some promise on handicap debut but below-for last twice, including in first-time hood (removed today) and tongue tie latest. Would be more interesting if market speaks in his favour. Down the field in his three handicaps and he needs improvement after a short break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mi Sueno |
(1) 22/1(-10%) | (1) Mi Sueno 22/1, Bagged handicaps at Fakenham and at Plumpton last winter but well held in a pair of Flat handicaps in early summer and offered on two starts over hurdles this season. Best to look elsewhere. Has struggled since his C&D win last March and he needs a big turnaround. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Eliza Dolittle must be respected following her game success over the extended 2m4f here last month, but she's 3lb higher now and a drop in trip may not be ideal either. With that in mind, the vote goes to TARA ITI, who has been knocking on the door of late and has two C&D wins to his name, including one off 5lb higher than his current mark. This looks competitive, though, with Grasshopper Time, Gorcombe Moonshine and Rapid Mission also in with a shout.
Back down in trip and with a 2 lb pull at the weights, TARA ITI can reverse the form with Eliza Dolittle who narrowly came out on top when the pair met here last month. Grasshopper Time and Sawpit Samantha can fight it out for a place on the podium. Mount Washinhton has been hit and miss but would be of interest if the market spoke in his favour.
This looks a bit trappy but it might be worth sticking with ELIZA DOLITTLE (nap), who got off the mark with a brave win here last time.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
