14:18 Perth Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Bishop Hill hasn't progressed as hoped since finishing a close-up second over C&D in April and Lucinda Russell's mare could be worth taking on. Although his well-being must be taken on trust after a 439-day absence, hurdles debutant LUCKIE SEVEN would take some stopping if replicating his bumper form in this sphere. The six-year-old makes most appeal, while recent Hexham third Major Champion is noted too.

LUCKIE SEVEN has a 14-month absence to overcome but he was a well-above average sort in bumpers, and in the hope he takes to hurdling, is selected to outclass these. Bishop Hill has been knocking on the door in similar company so has to command respect, along with Kells And Connor on his Rules debut.

Bishop Hill sets the standard but slight preference is for bumper winner LUCKIE SEVEN, who could have a good future over hurdles.

14:48 Perth Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The returning Annie Agnew ended last year's campaign with a game victory at Down Royal and she must enter calculations making her handicap bow off what looks a workable mark. However, there was plenty of encouragement to be taken from DARKEST DAY's return to form when runner-up over track and trip last month. The fourth-placed finisher that day has subsequently scored in a 15-runner affair at Hexham and a 3lb rise might not be enough to stop him from going one better. Max Of Stars completes the shortlist.

DARKEST DAY returned to form with his reappearance under his belt when beaten only by a much less-exposed rival over C&D last month and looks to have very solid claims of going one better. Max of Stars is a likeable front runner who seems likely to give her running once more, with Well Planted and Annie Agnew others to take seriously.

Max Of Stars and Darkest Day are respected but preference is for the unexposed 4yo ANNIE AGNEW.

15:18 Perth Handicap Chase (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Peter and Michael Bowen have their string in fine order and DICEY RIELLY is taken to enhance their impressive strike-rate at present. The seven-year-old arrives on the back of a solid third at Fontwell and a return to her last winning distance could prove just the tonic. The switch to front-running tactics saw handicap/chase debutant Stylish Recruit win a novice hurdle at Hexham latest and he may put up most resistance to the selection, ahead of four-time course winner Sword Of Fate.

The Bowen's have their string in good order and on the back of her most encouraging effort since returning to action, DICEY RIELEY could be the way to go. The 7-y-o would likely have won had she kept straight (tended to jump right) when third over further at Ffos Las 5 weeks ago and she's a player operating just 2 lb above her last winning mark. Point/hurdles winner Stylish Recruit and The Gyspy Davey are others fancied to play lead roles.

3m point and 2m novice hurdle winner STYLISH RECRUIT is open to improvement now back up in trip for his chase and handicap debut.

15:48 Perth Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

EARTH CRY was victorious by over four lengths in a class 5 event at Fontwell last month and he looks ready for this step up in grade off a 5lb higher rating. Neil Mulholland's six-year-old has improved with each run so far this year and he can continue on an upward trajectory. The main danger is Marty Mcfly, who went in over 2m here last time and now takes a step back up in distance off 6lb higher, while Malangen is another to watch out for.

Lisa Harrison's MALANGEN escapes a penalty for his recent Hexham victory so this multiple course winner holds obvious claims. Sandy Thomson's course scorer Marty McFly should ensure the selection doesn't have things all his own way though, with Earth Cry also likely to be on the premises on the back of his Fontwell victory.

Lisa Harrison's course specialist MALANGEN escapes a penalty for his recent Hexham win so looks the way to go here from Marty McFly

16:18 Perth Handicap Chase (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

UP FOR APPEAL bounced back to form in fine style to account for his nearest rival by just over four lengths over 2m5f at Newton Abbot last time. The six-year-old is only 4lb higher for that success and he looks well placed to go in again. Meetmeinthemorning was touched off by just under a length over 2m4f at Hexham on only his second handicap start and he is an interesting contender, while last-time-out winner Cardamon Hill isn't ruled out either.

UP FOR APPEAL confirmed previous encouragement when comfortably opening his account as a chaser at Newton Abbot last time and he's up to going in again with further progress anticipated. Fellow last-time-out winners Easy Bucks and Cardamon Hill are both improving as chasers, so they could pose the main threats.

Christian Williams' UP FOR APPEAL (nap) looked a young chaser on the up when going in at Newton Abbot and can follow up.

2.75
11/4(+58%)
(3) Captain's Pick 11/4, Runner-up in a bumper in Ireland last summer and while he hasn't achieved a great deal in half-a-dozen starts for present connections, this step up in trip could be just what the doctor ordered. Tongue strap applied.
Has been brought along steadily; no surprise if he takes a big step forward now up in trip.
8
2nd (8) Blended Stealth (5/1 -11%)
Blended Stealth

5
5/1(-11%)
(8) Blended Stealth 5/1, Long-standing maiden who made a fairly encouraging return from 5 months off (also first run following a wind op) when fourth of 9 at Market Rasen (23f, good) last time. Will be a threat if able to build on that here.
Had wind op before encouraging Market Rasen fourth latest; claims in bid for a maiden win.
2
3rd (2) Diamond State (12/1 -300%)
Diamond State

12
12/1(-300%)
(2) Diamond State 12/1, Fair winning hurdler at best who scored over fences in 2022/23. Took a step back in the right direction from his falling mark when third of 15 over 2½m here on penultimate start (unseated rider next time) and he needs considering.
Third here in May; hampered/unseated his rider early over C&D since; can't be ruled out.
1
4th (1) Swallows Song (66/1 -1786%)
Swallows Song

66
66/1(-1786%)
(1) Swallows Song 66/1, Bumper winner who was placed on 4 of his 5 starts over hurdles during 2022/23 campaign. Shaped fairly well returned to this sphere following a winter break at Kelso in May and while his subsequent Hexham display was seriously lacking, he is probably worth another chance.
Only seventh of ten in 2m7f Hexham handicap 19 days ago; he needs to bounce back.
7
5th (7) West Lawn (100/1 -614%)
West Lawn

100
100/1(-614%)
(7) West Lawn 100/1, Performed with credit in a 3m Hexham handicap chase in May but otherwise below par in recent months and it's hard to know what to expect of her back in this sphere (latest start over hurdles was back in June 2022).
Pulled up in Hexham handicap chase 19 days ago; she reverts to hurdles with lots to prove.
6
6th (6) Larkfield Lusive (100/1 -614%)
Larkfield Lusive

100
100/1(-614%)
(6) Larkfield Lusive 100/1, Modest maiden who wasn't disgraced on first 2 starts for present connections but form has dipped since and he's probably worth taking on.
Still a maiden and below-par Hexham fifth 33 days ago; he needs to take a step forward.
4
7th (4) She's A Rocca (33/1 -32%)
She's A Rocca

33
33/1(-32%)
(4) She's A Rocca 33/1, Back to form in first-time cheekpieces at Southwell in October when narrowly landing a 6-runner handicap off this mark. However, her efforts since returning from a break in May have been poor and she has stamina to prove now upped in trip.
Pulled up both starts this term; she has something to prove now.
5
8th (5) Pammi (50/1 -1329%)
Pammi

50
50/1(-1329%)
(5) Pammi 50/1, Six-time C&D winner who shaped as though her turn may again be near when third of 8 here off a 2 lb higher mark last month. No show on the Flat since but that was unsurprising (it's been a while since she last showed spark on the level) and a bold show could be on the way back over hurdles.
Dual winner of this; shaped well when C&D third last month; player for her in-form yard.
9
9th (9) Luminaries (33/1 -65%)
Luminaries

33
33/1(-65%)
(9) Luminaries 33/1, Little impact in various events over hurdles and hopes now pinned on the fitting of cheekpieces and this step up in trip sparking improvement.
Well-held sixth at Stratford in May; cheekpieces go on with significantly more required.
10
|PU| (10) Shoughall's Boy (100/1 -150%)
Shoughall's Boy

100
100/1(-150%)
(10) Shoughall's Boy 100/1, Pulled up 3 times from 4 starts since the turn of the year and it's easy enough to look elsewhere. Blinkers applied.
A fair 2m4f winner back in 2021 but he's been pulled up on four of his last five outings.

16:50 Perth Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Seven-time course winner Pammi must enter calculations, despite a lacklustre performance on the Flat 15 days ago, while Blended Stealth is entitled to improve for his comeback run (first outing post wind surgery) at Market Rasen last month. The vote, however, goes to DIAMOND STATE. He was badly hampered and unseated his rider too early in the piece over C&D last time but caught the eye when a staying-on third over 2m4f here on his previous outing. He is effectively 7lb better off with Alan Doyle claiming 5lb, so a bold bid is forecast.

A seventh success over this C&D could be on the cards for PAMMI, who shaped as though she could be ready to strike when third here last month. Captain's Pick could be about to take a step forward now faced with a stiffer test and he is feared most. Diamond State and Swallows Song are others to consider, while Blended Stealth is not ruled out either.

Jim Goldie has his string in great nick and PAMMI looks the way to go here as she bids for a third win in this event.

Buy Some Time

18
18/1(-50%)
(1) Buy Some Time 18/1, Dual point winner who was runner-up in a hunter chase at Cartmel (21.2f) on Rules debut in May. Well-beaten fourth in novice hurdle at this course (20.2f, good to firm) 25 days ago, but the longer trip should suit as he goes handicapping with hood applied.
Unexposed under rules but he needs improvement upped to 3m on handicap debut.

2nd (2) Dalileo (5/1 -67%)
Dalileo

5
5/1(-67%)
(2) Dalileo 5/1, Having dropped to a career-low mark after 7 months off, took advantage when winning over C&D (good to firm) 25 days ago, left clear at the last but doing well to get into contention having been held up. Merits consideration at this venue.
Ended a long losing run with his win over C&D last month; up 4lb but he's respected.

3rd (8) Side Stepper (3/1 +33%)
Side Stepper

3
3/1(+33%)
(8) Side Stepper 3/1, Hadn't offered much in a bumper and first 4 starts over hurdles, but proved a different proposition upped in trip when third on handicap debut at Newton Abbot (26.5f, good) 20 days ago. One to note with his latest run behind him.
Lightly raced 5yo who was good third in a Newton Abbot handicap (3m2f) latest; interesting.

The Longest Day

50
50/1(-317%)
(5) The Longest Day 50/1, Finally off the mark at this C&D last August and followed up back here later the same month. Ended the season with a lesser effort at Hexham, but probably needed the run after 7 months off at Newton Abbot 29 days ago. Not written off back here.
Both wins have come over C&D and has claims if he can rediscover his spark.
9
5th (9) Frankies Fire (100/1 -150%)
Frankies Fire

100
100/1(-150%)
(9) Frankies Fire 100/1, Multiple-point winner but remains a maiden under Rules, running from well out of the handicap when sixth of 10 over hurdles at Hexham (16.2f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Step back up in trip not enough to tempt.
Prolific pointer but she's 0-21 under rules and is well into the veteran stage now.
3
6th (3) Shantou Moon (100/1 -1567%)
Shantou Moon

100
100/1(-1567%)
(3) Shantou Moon 100/1, Successful twice in handicaps for Tristan Davidson and left his stable debut run behind when second at Hexham (23.3f) at the start of June. Finished runner-up again at the same C&D (good to soft) 19 days ago, so he can give another good account.
Dual hurdle winner who has finished runner-up last twice and he should go well again.
4
7th (4) Somebody's Fortune (100/1 -3900%)
Somebody's Fortune

100
100/1(-3900%)
(4) Somebody's Fortune 100/1, Placed in points and, upped in trip with a visor applied, showed improved form on her handicap hurdle debut when getting off the mark at Kelso (25.8f, soft) in May. Leading contender with more to offer now that she's up and running.
Up 3lb for last-gasp win at Kelso but she's still unexposed and is respected back in trip.
6
|F| (6) Ebendi (66/1 -450%)
Ebendi

66
66/1(-450%)
(6) Ebendi 66/1, Fairly useful Flat performer for Joseph O'Brien. Below that level over hurdles but ran one of better races when fourth of 15 at Ayr (24.3f, good) in March. Not in the same form on his last 2 outings, but he ran well when placed on his only start at this C&D last summer.
On reduced mark but he's been disappointing in last two runs and is now 0-11 over hurdles.
7
|PU| (7) Dequall (66/1 -780%)
Dequall

66
66/1(-780%)
(7) Dequall 66/1, It's been a while since he last hit the target but he couldn't have gone much closer at Hexham (23.3f) in May, edged out on the line. Wasn't able to repeat that effort at this C&D (good to firm) 25 days ago, but he's not discounted from his reduced mark.
Went mighty close at Hexham in May and has claims if he can recapture that form.
10
|PU| (10) Sullivan Bay (100/1 -203%)
Sullivan Bay

100
100/1(-203%)
(10) Sullivan Bay 100/1, Successful on the Flat for Gary Brown in January but hasn't shown much tried again over hurdles for his current yard, faring no better on handicap debut (had a wind op) when fifth of 9 at Fontwell (19.1f, good to firm) 22 days ago. Has work to do.
Still lightly raced over hurdles but he needs improvement on this step up to 3m.

17:20 Perth Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

DALILEO ran out an impressive winner over C&D last month and, entitled to improve for that first outing since November, he gets the vote to defy a 4lb rise in the ratings. The tongue-tie/visor combination (worn today) appeared to have the desired effect with Somebody's Fortune at Kelso last time and she merits consideration lining up off a 3lb higher mark, while Shantou Moon and Side Stepper are others to keep an eye on.

With a visor fitted, SOMEBODY'S FORTUNE benefited from the longer trip when making a successful handicap debut at Kelso last time and, with further progress to come as a stayer, she is taken to follow up. Dalileo got back to winning ways at this C&D on his latest outing and is feared most, ahead of Side Stepper.

Several have claims but the vote goes to SOMEBODY'S FORTUNE, who kicked off her handicap career with a gritty win at Kelso in May.
