13:50 Perth Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

FOX'S FANCY pushed an improver all the way at Hexham last month and this looks to be an excellent opportunity for Lucinda Russell's charge to go one better. Stablemate Bishop Hill also occupied the runner-up berth on her latest outing and she might be the main danger, although Queshi Bridge, who had shown a decent level of form prior to unseating last time out, will not be far away given a clean round of jumping.

FOX'S FANCY made a next-time-out winner work hard for it on hurdles bow at Hexham last month and sure to relish this test of stamina, she is preferred to the more established Time In The Sun. Bishop Hill, a stablemate of the selection, is also open to progress so needs considering.

Preference is for FOX'S FANCY, who is a close relation to Grand National winner One For Arthur and goes up in trip today.

14:25 Perth Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The vote goes to WHAT A JOHNNY, who posted a promising third over an extended 2m on his handicap bow last month. The son of Yeats is open to further progress, especially at this longer distance, and that could hold the key to him. Beaumesnil reached the frame in a warm heat at Musselburgh 20 days ago and he merits respect despite a further 2lb hike in the ratings, while others to note include Final Edgar and Maillot Blanc.

FINAL EDGAR shaped as if this trip would suit when fifth at Musselburgh last time so edges the vote in this competitive handicap. Course winner Duyfken heads the list of dangers, although a solid case can also be made for What A Johnny, Maillot Blanc and Beaumesnil.

The step up in trip could prove ideal for the lightly raced 3m point runner-up WHAT A JOHNNY (nap) and he earns the vote.

15:00 Perth Handicap Chase (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Event Of Sivola (third) and Destiny Is All (fourth) reoppose having met in the Hexham marathon 42 days ago, and the latter could reverse that form down in trip. Preference is for MISTER BELLS, though. Micky Hammond's charge has been running well in recent starts and would appear to hold solid claims now tackling a veterans' contest. Hold The Note should not be underestimated either.

DESTINY IS ALL is hardly one for maximum faith but is more than capable off this mark if on a going day and might be worth siding with to turn around last month's Hexham placings with Event of Sivola.

In a tricky handicap HOLD THE NOTE, who ran his best race of the season at Carlisle last time, is taken to beat Event Of Sivola.

15:35 Perth Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

MILO LISES is an obvious choice given his powerful connections and, having improved markedly when breaking his maiden at Punchestown in February, the five-year-old has to be of interest now he debuts in a handicap, especially as the runner-up from that race was successful next time out. Rafferty's Return has won two of his last three races and looks set for another big run, while Champagnesuperover appeals back over hurdles with ground conditions to suit.

MILO LISES upped his game to readily get off the mark at Punchestown and he's likely to be well prepared to make a successful British/handicap debut. Rafferty's Return should put up another bold showing and Choose A Copper is worthy of interest dropping back in grade.

Although not obviously well treated for his handicap debut MILO LISES is progressive and may improve again for this step up in trip.

16:10 Perth Handicap Chase (Class 2) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

The class-dropping Feu Du Bresil must be respected but the Willie Mullins-trained gelding may still be worth taking on given he is yet to win a race over fences. That's certainly not the case with A DIFFERENT KIND, who is highly progressive and can complete a five-timer off just 3lb higher than his latest success. Furthermore, the selection has won twice over this C&D, which can give him an edge over the hat-trick seeking Sure Touch.

Dual C&D winner A DIFFERENT KIND may well have been aimed at this prize and remains on a workable mark. He can extend his winning run. The hat-trick seeking Sure Touch is feared most.

This can go to SURE TOUCH who is progressing well over fences having won his last two races, both of which have worked out well.

However, preference is for SECRET TRIX, who returned from a 153-day break to score by just over a length in a hot handicap at Haydock last month, and he is only 7lb higher. The seven-year-old looks well placed to record a double, while Lady In The Park rates best of the rest.

Plenty in with a squeak but LADY IN THE PARK continued the theme of gradual run-to-run progression when finding just one too good at Ayr last month and, with this extra distance sure to play to her strengths, Lucinda Russell's lightly-raced 6-y-o gets the nod to double her tally at the expense of Secret Trix, who made a winning return sporting a first-time tongue tie at Haydock recently. Fortuna Ligna and Champ Royal can fight out third.

The selection is SECRET TRIX despite a 7lb rise for his win at Haydock last time. Bridge North may prove his main danger.

(1) Serious Ego 11/2, Veteran who won back-to-back handicaps at Hexham in November. Hasn't been seen to best effect on his last couple of starts, unsuited by way the race developed when eighth of 13 at Market Rasen (17.4f, heavy) 20 days ago. Can make his presence felt back down in grade.
Two wins at Hexham in November; some fair runs since, but below-par latest; a possible.

(7) Northern Cardinal 13/2, Promise when placed in a Kelso bumper on debut a year ago but hasn't gone on from that effort since, faring no better sent handicapping over hurdles when well held at Ayr last month. Remains early days but he has something to find.
Third in a bumper last April; modest efforts over hurdles, including on h'cap debut.

(2) Kellie's Dream 15/2, Dual handicap hurdle winner for Andrew Slattery in Ireland and showed a bit when making the frame at Carlisle on her stable debut in February. Wasn't able to build on that effort at Ayr next time, though she's eased in the weights as a result so she's not written off.
Ex-Irish; won over 2m2f last July; below-par for current yard; bit to prove now.

(4) Just Dottie 7/1, Offered little in bumper/on Flat but has found her feet over hurdles for current stable, overcoming a slipping saddle when scoring over C&D (good) last May. Lesser efforts back here on her last 2 starts, but she could be thereabouts if ready to go after 7 months off.
C&D winner in 2023; below par last 2 starts; back after a break on going softer than ideal.

(6) Broadford Publican 18/1, Modest form at best over hurdles in Ireland but little encouragement in handicaps on first 3 starts for current yard. Reportedly bled when pulled up at Bangor on his chasing debut last time, so he has enough to prove reverted to the smaller obstacles.
Ex-Irish; best form at 2m on soft back in 2022; below form for this yard; on a good mark.

(10) Don't Look Back 9/2, Fair performer on the Flat for Lucinda Russell last year and has made the frame in handicap hurdles on his last 2 starts, albeit no match for a couple of improving types when third at Carlisle on his latest outing. Could yet do better in this sphere back down in grade.
1m2f Flat winner in 2023; two decent efforts in h'cap hurdles last month; one to consider.

(13) Coeur Aimant 25/1, Absent for a year prior to the current campaign, but showed that he retained his ability when runner-up at Uttoxeter on his return in July. Didn't take to chasing on his last 4 starts, so he's not discounted as he returns to hurdling.
Second on return from a break last July, but hasn't run as well since, mainly over fences.

17:20 Perth Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SERIOUS EGO was well beaten into eighth in a class 2 event at Musselburgh on his latest outing, but he was dropped 2lb for that effort which puts him only 1lb higher than his last winning mark. With Brian Hughes back on board and given he drops in grade, he looks the one to side with. Agilulf finished a fair third over 2m4f last time and he is an interesting contender, while Lifetime Adventure is worth a second look sporting first-time blinkers.

SERIOUS EGO again shaped better than the result when eighth at Market Rasen on his latest outing, left poorly placed, so he could be ready to get his head back in front from only 1 lb above his last winning mark. Agilulf ran well after an absence when third at Musselbugh last time and can make another bold bid, with Don't Look Back completing the shortlist.

A chance is taken on BARLEY BREEZE who has been below-par on his last few runs, but is on a good mark on his best form.
