17:45 Nottingham Maiden (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

With hardly any form to go on, a tentative vote goes to the William Haggas-trained AL WASEELA. The daughter of Siyouni changed hands for 50,000gns and is related to a few Group winners, so she could make an impression on her debut. Renewal also makes plenty of appeal on paper for the in-form Ralph Beckett stable and she will be sure to improve as she steps up in trip, while Hackney Diamonds brings the best known form to the table after her fifth at Windsor.

Those with experience don't set the bar high so this will likely go to a newcomer. RENEWAL cost 210,000 gns as a yearling and gets the vote before any betting clues are known. Al Waseela, Cristalino and Standput are others who make plenty of paper appeal.

This looks at the mercy of a newcomer and CRISTALINO is tentatively preferred to Nad Alshiba Rain.

18:20 Nottingham Handicap (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

TEN COMMITMENTS outran his odds when flying home late to finish second on his handicap debut at Salisbury recently. The son of Due Diligence goes off the same mark and he could prove very tough to beat. The main danger might be Persian Blue, who finished fourth in a class 4 event at Kempton last time and may appreciate this return to turf. Of the remainder, Chiedozie makes the most appeal in first-time cheekpieces.

TEN COMMITMENTS found improvement when second at Salisbury last time and this doesn't appear to be as good a race, so he's preferred to Dark Dreamer, the only other one with a reasonable last effort to his name. Persian Blue has run well on her only previous visit to the course, so she's of interest on reappearance.

Ten Commitments is the obvious starting point but BONAVENTURE has threatened better and may be the answer with a tongue-tie added.

18:50 Nottingham Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BEAULD AS BRASS finished a close-up third at Lingfield last month and he is only 3lb higher for that effort. Adam West's four-year-old now sports a first-time hood and, with a 5lb claimer in the plate, he could be the one to beat. Angle Land has hit the frame the last twice and she could closer off the same mark as her most recent third at Wetherby, while Dandy Dinmont is another to keep an eye on.

STRONG JOHNSON has been building up to something and, now back down in trip/grade, he could be ready to capitalise on an appealing mark. Angle Land should also benefit from the return to the minimum trip, so she's feared most ahead of Dandy Dinmont.

Paul Midgley can win this race for the third year in a row courtesy of the class-dropping STRONG JOHNSON (nap).

19:20 Nottingham Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

BLETCHLEY STORM has switched yards since returning an easy winner at Leicester in April. She's been raised 11lb for that but the likely soft ground will suit and another bold bid is expected. Laser Focus just missed out on a hat-trick when beaten a neck at Wetherby and is not out of this, but Chelmsford winner Fillyfudge would have preferred a faster surface. Sisterandbrother won an amateur riders' race at Haydock last time and is another to note.

LASER FOCUS was only denied by another one that's going the right way when second at Wetherby 8 days ago and he's fancied to get back to winning ways. Last-time-out winners Sisterandbrother and Bletchley Storm look the main dangers.

Not so competitive as the numbers suggest and it looks a golden opportunity for LASER FOCUS to get back in the winners' enclosure.

19:50 Nottingham Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

PATRONAGE won a shade cosily over C&D last month with the reopposing Emerald City back in fourth. A 5lb rise may not be enough to anchor Nigel Tinkler's charge with further progress likely. Serendipitous Lady will relish any cut in the ground and a better effort when fourth at Carlisle latest suggests she can figure, while Standbackandlook finished runner-up at Leicester without troubling the winner and could go well again.

STANDBACKANDLOOK posted his best effort to date in handicaps when runner-up at Leicester 15 days ago and, with the extra emphasis on stamina here in his favour, he's fancied to go one better. Patronage looks an obvious threat after scoring comfortably over C&D last time and Serendipitous Lady isn't without hope.

Standbackandlook can build on his Leicester promise but SERENDIPITOUS LADY is improving run by run for her new stable.

20:20 Nottingham Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Mick Appleby has won this three times in the last seven renewals, each time with the favourite, and ANDROMEDAS KINGDOM may add to that tally. Two wins at Bath were followed by a second at the same track last time and, although she needs a career best off this mark to win, she is the in-form option. Astronomica may do better after her first start of the season and will appreciate the return to this grade, with Believe You Me another to take seriously.

BALLSBRIDGE went like the best horse at the weights but was sent for home a bit too soon at Pontefract 9 days ago and can make amends off the same mark back down in trip. The thriving Andromedas Kingdom is the obvious threat, with Dougies Dream best of the others.

Fast ground was no good to ASTRONOMICA last time and she's got a solid record in turf handicaps.

20:50 Nottingham Handicap (Class 6) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Ney was not at his best last time out over further, but won his only previous start over this trip at Catterick and could go well. Douglas Dc is another of interest despite being a maiden on the Flat and he can get involved back up in trip, but YOUNG MERLIN could be the one. He won't mind any cut in the ground and wasn't beaten far off 1lb lower when second at Salisbury last month.

YOUNG MERLIN has done well for this yard and the form of his latest second at Salisbury has worked out well, so he gets the vote off a similar mark. Russian Rumour goes well for this rider and remains on a handy mark, so is next best ahead of Tigerten.

The most likely win contenders appear to be YOUNG MERLIN, Russian Rumour and Ney.

Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
