(6) Shakeyatailfeather 9/4, Made the frame first 3 completed starts over hurdles and ran creditably on handicap debut when sixth at Kelso back in May, though her finishing effort arguably didn't match the way she travelled. Back in a maiden and holds leading claims provided she's ready to roll.
Fair form over 2m in the spring; has strong claims here if suited by the step up in trip.

14:10 Newton Abbot Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 22f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

TRIBAL GLORY made a pleasing start to life over hurdles when filling the runner-up spot over an extended 2m2f here last month and, with progress likely now upped in trip, Fergal O'Brien's six-year-old is fancied to go one better. Shakeyatailfeather was far from disgraced in a warm class 2 handicap at Kelso in May and she's of clear interest back in maiden company. Authoceltic is most appealing of the remainder.

TRIBAL GLORY shaped encouragingly sent hurdling after a full year off when finding just one too strong here last month and, with further improvement on the cards, Fergal O'Brien's 6-y-o is fancied to go one better at the expense of the returning Shakeyatailfeather, who sets the standard on her runner-up efforts back in the spring. Authoceltic can fill out third.

Tribal Glory is respected but SHAKEYATAILFEATHER ran well in a competitive handicap in the spring and her form is more persuasive.

14:40 Newton Abbot Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The form of ASIAN STAR's third in a Southwell bumper has worked out well and while she didn't live up to market expectations that day, this looks a good opportunity to make a successful beginning to life over timber. Hard As Nails must shoulder a penalty having won at Southwell in May. She has remained in good form since, though, and will again be aided by Jack Hogan's 3lb claim. Others to note include A Little Something and Pure Gold.

ASIAN STAR showed plenty of promise in a couple of bumpers during the spring and is taken to make a winning start over hurdles. Next on the list is Kitty Foyle, who arrives here on the back of a win on the Flat at Goodwood, while Hard As Nails should be in the mix and Pure Gold is another with possibilities.

Flat winner Kitty Foyle is respected but preference is for ASIAN STAR, who looked promising in two bumpers in the spring.

15:15 Newton Abbot Maiden Chase (Class 3) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Having romped home over C&D last month, Glynn recorded another clear-cut success at Stratford just five days later. He is in a more competitive heat now, but still merits respect. Things didn't work out for Lallygag over fences last season, but he has been flying over timber and should not be underestimated. That said, preference is for RISKINTHEGROUND, who made it four wins from nine over the larger obstacles when on target at Bangor a fortnight ago, with further progress far from out of the question.

SECRET TRIX turned in a rare poor effort last time but he's worth another chance given his profile and has a big chance on these terms if taking to fences at the first attempt. All 3 of his rivals are potential dangers, including hat-trick seeking Glynn.

Dan Skelton's RISKINTHEGROUND keeps improving and is taken to collect his fifth win of the season.

15:50 Newton Abbot Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having opened his account in decisive fashion at Worcester last week, ELECTRIC EDDY is sure to take all the beating racing off the same rating. The six-year-old is due to go up 7lb in the near future and this looks a suitable opportunity for him to follow up. The progressive Therapist arrives on the back of a solid third on the Flat and Nicky Henderson's filly may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Greenways.

ELECTRIC EDDY built on previous promise after 8 weeks off when running out a ready winner at Worcester 9 days ago and, unpenalized for that success, he makes plenty of appeal in his follow-up bid. Nicky Henderson's Therapist rates the chief danger returned to this sphere, ahead of United Front and Outback Frontiers.

In a hot race for the grade the suggestion is THERAPIST, who made a good start to his handicap hurdle career in the spring.

16:25 Newton Abbot Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having posted several creditable efforts in defeat this season, just reward could be headed in COLONEL LESLEY's direction. A 2lb rise for last month's close-up second at this venue looks more than fair and he edges the vote over Karannelle, who was behind in third that day. David Rees' mare has subsequently finished third over C&D and a return to quicker ground conditions will suit. Juggernaut is also worth consideration now dropping in trip.

James Owen will likely find the key to ADDOSH before too long, possibly on today's return to hurdling. Colonel Lesley has recorded good placed efforts on his last 4 completed starts and is second choice ahead of Karannelle.

The pick is COLONEL LESLEY, who has been in good form for his new stable this season .

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

In what looks a competitive affair, WONDERFUL EAGLE gets a tentative vote. Already a dual winner over timber, it would be a surprise if there wasn't some mileage in his hurdles mark judging by his cosy Flat victory over 2m at Goodwood last month. Melton Mossy showed a likeable attitude when winning over an extended 2m2f here recently and he merits respect, for all that he has been raised 5lb and is also 4lb out of the handicap. Fellow last-time-out winner Finisk River completes the shortlist.

WONDERFUL EAGLE has left the impression there's a bigger effort in him over hurdles if his jumping improves and he arrives on the back of a successful effort on the Flat, so he's worth a chance to add another C&D win to his record. Last-time-out winners Finisk River and Melton Mossy could emerge as the main dangers.

This pick is dual course winner WONDERFUL EAGLE (nap), who reverts to hurdling after a fine Flat win last month and is on a good mark.

17:30 Newton Abbot Handicap Chase (Class 4) 26f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Honey I'm Good got the better of GREAT D'ANGE when the pair met over an extended 3m3f at Stratford last month, but the winning distance may have flattered the former given that the runner-up's stamina appeared to wane close home. Now stepping back in trip, Barry Brennan's charge can gain his revenge. Hold Your Fort completed a C&D hat-trick and rounds out the shortlist, for all that this mark demands another career best from him.

HOLD YOUR FORT is improving in leaps and bounds and clearly goe well here. He is taken to extend his winning run. A Definite Getaway and Honey I'm Good head the list of dangers.

Three-time point winner HOLD YOUR FORT has made remarkable progress over C&D this summer and might extend his winning spree.
