1st (3) (1.62/1 -8%) Ya Know Yaseff |
1.62/1(-8%) | (3) Ya Know Yaseff 1.62/1, Improved in blinkers (retained) when getting off the mark in 23f Worcester handicap chase (good to soft) 8 days ago. The one to beat under a 7 lb penalty if showing up in similar form. First-time blinkers presumably helped when coming clear at Worcester last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (2.5/1 +58%) Janeslittlevoice |
2.5/1(+58%) | (4) Janeslittlevoice 2.5/1, Poor maiden hurdler but has shown she can be competitive from her basement mark over fences when runner-up in handicaps at Fontwell in recent weeks. Didn't entirely convince with her stamina over this longer trip the last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3/1 -9%) Sharp Note |
3/1(-9%) | (1) Sharp Note 3/1, Different proposition on second chase start when winning 5-runner C&D handicap in June. Not in quite the same form at Southwell and Stratford since but perhaps a return to this venue will help her bounce back to her best. Won comfortably over C&D in June on just her second run over fences; excuses last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5.5/1 -83%) Prince Cleni |
5.5/1(-83%) | (2) Prince Cleni 5.5/1, Little form over hurdles but did well over fences at the start of the summer, second at Uttoxeter then winning at Southwell (both 3m). His 2 runs since then have been disappointing, though. Bounce back needed. Player on his Southwell win in June and all headgear left off after two lesser shows. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
YA KNOW YASEFF was able to record a comfortable success on her return to the larger obstacles at Worcester having been fitted with blinkers for the first time (retained), and she will be a tough nut to crack if arriving in the same form under a penalty. Sharp Note won over C&D from 5lb lower in June and is capable if putting her best foot forward. Prince Cleni is fancied to beat Janeslittlevoice to third spot.
If the blinkers work a second time YA KNOW YASEFF stands a good chance of defying a 7 lb penalty for Worcester. Sharp Note is feared most back at the scene of her win in June.
If YA KNOW YASEFF can repeat last week's Worcester form then that may be sufficient.

1st (1) (1.62/1 +14%) Way Out |
1.62/1(+14%) | (1) Way Out 1.62/1, Irish point winner who opened his hurdles account from the front in a 2½m Fakenham maiden in May. Duly followed up with another sound front-running display in a Warwick handicap (21f, good to firm) later that month and, though absent since, he could be dangerous granted another soft lead. Doubly penalised returned to novice company but he's heading in the right direction. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (2.12/1 +34%) All The Glory |
2.12/1(+34%) | (3) All The Glory 2.12/1, Gained breakthrough in this sphere with first-time cheekpieces enlisted at Hexham (16.2f, good to soft) in May. Followed up in a Market Rasen novice last month, but disappointing to see her turned over when bidding for the hat-trick in a 3-runner affair at Stratford on Saturday. Improving mare who wasn't seen to best effect behind an all-the-way winner on Saturday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (2/1 -23%) The Galahad Kid |
2/1(-23%) | (2) The Galahad Kid 2/1, Unbeaten in 2 bumpers last summer and off the mark at the second attempt in this sphere at Stratford (16.3f, good). Left trailing by a progressive type upped to 19.6f at Bangor since, but should make his presence felt if responding well to the first-time tongue strap. Well beaten into second last time but actually posted best RPR yet; now tongue tied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (18/1 -100%) Six And Out |
18/1(-100%) | (4) Six And Out 18/1, Runner-up all 3 starts in bumper and jumped with greater fluency than on his hurdles debut when third in of 8 in a Stratford novice (18.7f, soft) recently. If able to build on that he should pick up a race before long, but he'll probably find this a shade too competitive. Likely to need more than when third at Stratford 11 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (100/1 -100%) Buck Of Maine |
100/1(-100%) | (5) Buck Of Maine 100/1, From a good French family and showed promise when third of 6 in a Plumpton bumper on debut. However, he has failed to build on that since, offering little in 2 starts since switched to hurdles. Return to drier ground may suit but still looks up against it in this company. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
THE GALAHAD KID was no match for an improving rival at Bangor three weeks ago, but he had been on a steep upward curve previously. A first-time tongue-tie is applied and Fergal O'Brien's seven-year-old can resume his progression. Way Out arrives in search of a hat-trick having struck at Fakenham and Warwick in May. He merits respect on his return from a break, while All The Glory would firmly enter the reckoning if turned out quickly following her costly defeat at Stratford on Saturday.
Provided he's ready to roll following a break, WAY OUT may well complete the hat-trick. The 6-y-o raised his game when landing a Warwick handicap in decisive fashion on his latest start in May and, likely to be allowed to do his own thing out in front, he could take some pegging back round here. The Galahad Kid is likely to pose the biggest threat given that Six And Out needs to improve a chunk and, moreover, All The Glory isn't certain to go to post following her odds-on defeat on Saturday.
If ALL THE GLORY goes again after running on Saturday she might well provide the answer, as Stratford's race didn't see the best of her.

1st (2) (4.5/1 -29%) Opening Bid |
4.5/1(-29%) | (2) Opening Bid 4.5/1, With the usual headgear left off, opened his account over fences at Worcester in May and hasn't looked back since, also scoring at this track before forging clear to complete the hat-trick at Stratford in July. Proved to be a disappointment bidding for a 4-timer last time but he can bounce back. His 3 good-ground chase wins since May came at a cost ratings-wise; could still go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (1/1 +20%) Investment Manager |
1/1(+20%) | (1) Investment Manager 1/1, Opened chase account at Exeter (19.2f, heavy) in April and added to that when seeing off 7 rivals over 25.8f here (good) in July. Took his record of 3 wins from his last 6 starts when following up over C&D just under 3 weeks ago and every chance he can bring up the hat-trick. Up-and-down profile but not of late after back-to-back wins in handicaps here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (2.5/1 +9%) Frankie Faulkner |
2.5/1(+9%) | (4) Frankie Faulkner 2.5/1, Dual winner in points who confirmed the promise of his hurdles debut when landing 11-runner maiden at this track in July. Could only match rather than improve on his hurdles form on chasing/handicap debut at Fontwell and it remains early days for this point winner. Beaten 13l into third on recent chase debut and this does look stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (8/1 -14%) Astroman |
8/1(-14%) | (3) Astroman 8/1, Belatedly off the mark (fortunate winner) in 8-runner maiden hurdle at Stratford in May and followed up under a penalty back in a handicap a week later at Fontwell. Creditable third at latter course when last seen 3 months ago and now attentions are turned to the larger obstacles. Possibly on a tough mark and remains to be seen what he'll make of fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
INVESTMENT MANAGER powered clear of his rivals over C&D to record back-to-back victories and a further 5lb hike in the handicap might not be enough to stop the progressive Joe Tizzard-trained gelding from rounding out his hat-trick. Frankie Faulkner wasn't disgraced on his fencing bow at Fontwell and is entitled to improve for that experience, while Opening Bid is most appealing of the remainder.
Although INVESTMENT MANAGER has had consistency issues in the past, Joe Tizzard's 7-y-o has won 3 of his last 6 starts and this represents a good opportunity to enhance that record further and bring up a quick-fire course hat-trick. He can get the better of Opening Bid, who rattled off a hat-trick this summer and can put a lesser effort behind him. Frankie Faulkner can fill out third spot.

1st (5) (0.5/1 +40%) Slate Lane |
0.5/1(+40%) | (5) Slate Lane 0.5/1, Much improved for Emmet Mullins and went 2-2 for the yard when landing 8-runner handicap hurdle at Bangor (23f, good) 21 days ago with plenty in hand. Up 10 lb but is very much the one to beat. 2-2 for this yard and may easily make light of his 10lb rise for winning easily at Bangor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (8.5/1 +15%) Tommie Beau |
8.5/1(+15%) | (2) Tommie Beau 8.5/1, Dual chase winner in the summer who posted a respectable fourth of 8 in handicap chase at Cartmel (25.5f, soft) 14 days ago. Switches to hurdles now and much respected. Well held in both disciplines the last twice and others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (28/1 +15%) Hunting Percival |
28/1(+15%) | (4) Hunting Percival 28/1, Bagged his second hurdles success at Stratford in August but only fifth of 6 in handicap hurdle there 11 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Recent Stratford winner but well held back there last time and he's inconsistent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (14/1 -40%) Presenting Yeats |
14/1(-40%) | (7) Presenting Yeats 14/1, C&D winner who posted a creditable third of 7 in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (23.1f, good) 36 days ago. Unreliable type, however. Has been running well, last time finishing third with cheekpieces back on at Market Rasen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/1 +31%) Valentino |
11/1(+31%) | (6) Valentino 11/1, C&D winner but off 10 months since a creditable sixth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Cheltenham (24f, good). Has won off a break so can't be ruled out on his comeback run. Dual course winner on a fair mark and also goes well fresh; conditions ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (6.5/1 -30%) Mr Yeats |
6.5/1(-30%) | (3) Mr Yeats 6.5/1, Took this event 12 months ago and arrives on the back of a good second of 8 in handicap hurdle at Cartmel (25.4f, soft) 16 days ago. Visor on for 1st time and not taken lightly. Won this last year; looks handicapped about right after his recent near misses. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (50/1 -79%) Sammylou |
50/1(-79%) | (8) Sammylou 50/1, 3-time C&D winner for Fergal O'Brien. Only tenth of 11 on yard debut in handicap hurdle (40/1) at Worcester (23f, good to soft) 20 days ago so needs to take a big step forward. Signed off for Fergal O'Brien in modest form and his debut for this team was no better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (14/1 -75%) Go Chique |
14/1(-75%) | (1) Go Chique 14/1, Resumed winning ways in 5-runner handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (23.1f, good to firm) 23 days ago. Can go well again. Had the run of things when back on song at Market Rasen but still considered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
SLATE LANE has been well placed by Emmet Mullins to justify short prices at Cartmel and on his handicap debut at Bangor, and he can improve for this further step up in distance to defy a 10lb higher mark. Go Chique bounced back to form at Market Rasen and she should go well off only 3lb higher. Mr Yeats has been unlucky to finish second on each of his last four outings and he could get into contention again in a first-time visor.
SLATE LANE arrives firmly on the up for Emmet Mullins and a 10 lb hike in the weights doesn't look sufficient to prevent him from completing a hat-trick judged on his easy Bangor success. Mr Yeats is feared most in his bid to follow up last year's victory, with Go Chique and Valentino also in the picture.

1st (5) (2.25/1 -38%) Saddlers Quest |
2.25/1(-38%) | (5) Saddlers Quest 2.25/1, It took her a while to get off the mark but arrives on a hat-trick after wins at Uttoxeter and over C&D in recent months. 6 lb rise demands more but she could find it in her current mood. Up 6lb for narrow win here last time but still major player in what's not a strong contest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4/1 +33%) Karannelle |
4/1(+33%) | (2) Karannelle 4/1, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 14/1, creditable fourth of 10 in handicap hurdle over C&D (good) 9 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Often goes well here and her recent completions were by no means shoddy efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/1 -10%) Pepsiwithacap |
11/1(-10%) | (4) Pepsiwithacap 11/1, Still a maiden and he ran one of his lesser races when eighth of 9 over C&D only 9 days ago. Hard to be too positive after that. Infrequent winner who goes well now and again but was tailed off here last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (6/1 -33%) Princess Midnight |
6/1(-33%) | (3) Princess Midnight 6/1, Sound-jumping front runner who won 3 times over fences in 2022. Just as good when runner-up on first 2 outings this summer but ran poorly at Worcester in July (reportedly bled). Now reverts to hurdles after a 53-day break. Chasing is more her game but lower mark over hurdles heightens interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (2/1 +43%) Wilderness |
2/1(+43%) | (6) Wilderness 2/1, Struggled over fences when last seen over jumps last summer but plenty of good efforts on the Flat since and she's dangerously well handicapped back over hurdles. Hasn't been hurdling for a while but was second on the Flat earlier this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (50/1 -213%) Time To Burn |
50/1(-213%) | (7) Time To Burn 50/1, Modest maiden on Flat who ran her best race over hurdles when third of 8 on handicap debut in this sphere at Wincanton (2m, good) in March. Not in anything like the same form in a C&D novice on her reappearance 9 days but she stands a more realistic chance back in a handicap. Each-way claims despite being 5lb wrong but may struggle to win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (50/1 -213%) Saywhatyouwant |
50/1(-213%) | (1) Saywhatyouwant 50/1, Won twice for Donald McCain in the first half of last season but little impact in 2 runs on the Flat for Fergal O'Brien this summer and pulled up back hurdling for this training partnership last month. Hooded first time. Something to prove at present. Her return to hurdling 12 days ago (for new yard) was forgettable; hood added. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Saddlers Quest is in fine fettle at present, backing up her Uttoxeter success when digging deep to justify favouritism over this C&D, and another 6lb hike may not be enough to stop her from making her presence felt again. However, a chance is taken on WILDERNESS, who is rated 75 on the Flat and she now returns to this sphere on a comparatively lenient figure. Karannelle wasn't disgraced in fourth over C&D recently and she isn't out of it.
It's worth taking a chance on WILDERNESS back over hurdles as she's potentially very well treated off a basement mark in this sphere judged on the form she's capable of on the Flat. The hat-trick seeking Saddlers Quest is second choice ahead of Karannelle.

Johnnie River |
(1) (1.75/1 -75%)1.75/1(-75%) | (1) Johnnie River 1.75/1, Telescope gelding. Dam 1½m-1¾m winner who stayed 16.5f. Worth chancing making his debut in a very weak contest. Newcomer from a yard that's 1-48 in bumpers the last five seasons. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (4) (3.33/1 +58%) Jukebox Annie |
3.33/1(+58%) | (4) Jukebox Annie 3.33/1, Unseated rider in bumper (28/1) at Stratford (16.3f, soft) on NH debut 11 days ago. Cheap purchase who doesn't make that much appeal. Looking a right handful at Stratford; the start wasn't the only time she unseated. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (0.33/1 +85%) Bradford Lady |
0.33/1(+85%) | (3) Bradford Lady 0.33/1, No encouragement both starts to date but could make an impact in this if she's able to take a step forward. Beaten about 25l on soft and good going; this is weaker for sure; probably the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (8.5/1 -42%) Who's Sorry Now |
8.5/1(-42%) | (2) Who's Sorry Now 8.5/1, Out of a maiden hurdler and didn't offer any encouragement when last at Wincanton 10 months ago. Worth monitoring in the betting. Completely tailed off on fast ground at Wincanton last November when 66-1. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Any market support for newcomer Johnnie River should be noted, but JUKEBOX ANNIE makes the most appeal, in the anticipation that she is likely to be much better behaved on her second outing. This is a really weak bumper and she's not going to get many better opportunities than this to score. Bradford Lady and Who's Sorry Now can follow that pair home.
JOHNNIE RIVER is out of a Flat winner and makes his debut in a decidedly weak contest, so he's worth taking a chance on. The other trio are yet to show anything but Bradford Lady might do a bit better than her first couple of outings.
It's difficult to envisage a weaker bumper. BRADFORD LADY has shown enough in her two runs to believe she can take care of these.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
