(2) Stepney Causeway 2/1, Useful hurdles winner for Dan Skelton and capitalised on easing mark to open chase account for present stable at Worcester (16.5f) in June. Not beaten far when last of 3 under a penalty at Newton Abbot since but will do well get the better of Valentino Dancer here.
Worcester winner two starts ago; last of three over C&D since; may be vulnerable.

LTO Selection:

14:30 Newton Abbot Handicap Chase (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

VALENTINO DANCER made a pleasing start to life over fences when filling the runner-up spot at Southwell last month. Fergal O'Brien's charge appears to have been well placed in a bid to go one better and he shades preference over Stepney Causeway, who already has a chasing success on his CV. Dr T J Eckleburg can follow the pair home ahead of Oval Street.

Ready preference is for VALENTINO DANCER, who jumped well in the main when second to an in-form rival on debut in this sphere at Southwell and he remains 2 lb below his last winning hurdles mark. Stepney Causeway is the only conceivable threat, with Dr T J Eckleburg showing little spark sent chasing of late and Oval Street a long way out of the handicap.

After a satisfactory chasing debut, VALENTINO DANCER has a strong chance.

LTO Selection:

15:00 Newton Abbot Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CAITLIN'S COURT left her earlier form behind when bolting up over an extended 2m2f here in May and, providing the slight drop in trip poses no issue, she can repeat the dose from just 2lb higher. Recent Uttoxeter scorer Saddlers Quest does not look overburdened by a subsequent 6lb rise in the handicap and Joe Anderson's 5lb claim is an added bonus today. Others to note include Karannelle and Isabella Bee.

Although the fact it took SADDLERS QUEST 14 attempts to win over hurdles doesn't mark her down as an obvious one to go back to back, the first 2 came well clear of the third and she could still be well treated off 6 lb higher. Fellow last-time-out scorer Caitlin's Court is second choice ahead of Vision of Hope. Fergal O'Brien handicap newcomer Isabella Bee is one to monitor closely in the betting.

An open contest could go to topweight KARANNELLE, who usually runs well at this track.

LTO Selection:

15:30 Newton Abbot Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The form of THE GEORDIE GINGE's Stratford second last month took a boost when the winner followed up in handicap company, and any further improvement can see Nigel Twiston-Davies' charge open his account today. A three-time winner on the Flat when trained in Germany, Wonderful Eagle must be of interest on his stable/hurdling bow, while Littel Flour hit the frame at Perth three weeks ago and a reproduction of that effort would bring her firmly into the reckoning.

WONDERFUL EAGLE showed a fairly useful level of ability on the Flat in Germany and should take a fair bit of beating if transferring that sort of form over to hurdles at the first attempt. The Geordie Ginge was collared only in the dying strides by one who's gone in again since at Stratford, so he's very much respected, while Little Flour and Climbing need factoring in, too.

Triple German Flat winner Wonderful Eagle could go well but CLIMBING appeals as the safer play after his good run at Stratford.

Consistent this summer but finding it hard to add to six chasing wins.
LTO Selection:

16:00 Newton Abbot Handicap Chase (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Romanor ran well in a higher class at Stratford last month and as he races off 2lb lower here, he looks to have a chance of landing his seventh success over fences. However, he has to give 6lb to DAN'S CHOSEN, who strolled home over C&D last month off 5lb lower in the handicap and if he can repeat that form here, then he appears be the one to beat. Fellow course double seeker Investment Manager is another to take seriously and he might try to make all dropping back in trip, though some of these could prove too speedy for him.

Cases can be made for each member of the quintet, with BAGHEERA GINGE shading preference. The form of his effort at Worcester is strong and he shaped like the clear second best at the weights when third at the same course last time. The combination of the drop back in trip and better ground will help, while the addition of cheekpieces may help eke out a little more. Romanor is second choice ahead of Dan's Chosen, who got the better of Glajou over C&D last time, and Investment Manager.

Topweight BAGHERRA GINGE (nap) may well benefit from the application of cheekpieces.

16:30 Newton Abbot Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Elham Valley won his only start here in August last year over course and distance, but he was pulled up at Cartmel when last seen in May and arrives here with something to prove. Clearance also likes it here, with three of his four wins coming at the track including last time out, and he looks a player, but a chance is taken on LADY ADARE. A winner on her first three starts over hurdles, she has had her issues since but further wind surgery recently will hopefully see her back to her best.

CLEARANCE added to his fine course record when scoring in cosy fashion last month and remains on a workable mark. He can go in again. Enthused is feared most.

Course specialist CLEARANCE can gain a fourth C&D win.

LTO Selection:

17:00 Newton Abbot Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 26f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Nicky Henderson won this last year and will hope for a repeat with top-weight Lelantos, who he seems likely to mount a challenge despite having to carry 12 stone. However, JACK THE FARMER brings consistency to the table, with a top three finish on his last seven starts including a win at Worcester last month, and he could add another success to his CV today. The in-form Rubys Reward and the first-time visored Danzini are interesting alternatives in a highly-competitive renewal.

Little between the principals on form but RUBYS REWARD comes here at the top of her game so edges the vote off just a 1 lb higher mark than her excellent recent Worcester second. Bensini is also weighted to have a big say ahead, with in-form pair Jack The Farmer and Danzini also in the mix.

Nigel Hawke's JACK THE FARMER is developing into a reliable stayer at this level and he was a bit unlucky when second here last time.
