1st (5) (2.75/1 +63%) Sharp Note |
2.75/1(+63%) | (5) Sharp Note 2.75/1, Won a relatively weak 4-runner maiden at Hereford on hurdles debut but struggled subsequently and fared no better sent chasing at Stratford last month. Significantly up in trip now. Behind Heneryetta Bay on her chasing debut but may finish closer now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3.6/1 -106%) Heneryetta Bay |
3.6/1(-106%) | (4) Heneryetta Bay 3.6/1, Irish point winner didn't need to improve on her previous efforts to land a 4-runner handicap chase at Huntingdon (23.6f, good) 16 days ago. Up 3 lb here but looks to have found a good opportunity to follow up. Easy winner of weak Huntingdon race last month; only up 3lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (1.38/1 +0%) Tommydan |
1.38/1(+0%) | (3) Tommydan 1.38/1, In good heart over hurdles in the autumn and picked up where he left off after a 7-month break when landing an 11-runner event at Southwell (24.3f, good to soft, 10/1) 8 days ago. Interesting runner off lower mark back over fences. Comfortable hurdle winner last week and 5lb lower on return to fences; obvious claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (6/1 +33%) Milanford |
6/1(+33%) | (1) Milanford 6/1, Ran one of his better races when second of 8 at Taunton on his penultimate outing but typically failed to back that up, pulling up at Worcester last time. Hard to have any great confidence in on his first start after leaving Syd Hosie. Second two starts ago but other efforts modest; stable debut (same ownership). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (12/1 +33%) Wildfire Warrior |
12/1(+33%) | (2) Wildfire Warrior 12/1, Winning hurdler but has made very little impact over fences to date, still yet to convince with his jumping in this sphere. Tongue strap applied but he's hard to fancy. Unplaced all five chasing starts; last of seven in March; tongue-strap on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HENERYETTA BAY relished the step up in trip to land her first victory over fences at Huntingdon last month. The Warren Greatrex-trained mare kept on well and may be able to follow up off 3lb higher with the in-form Sean Bowen taking the ride. Tommydan comfortably dismissed his rivals when stepped up to 3m over hurdles earlier this month and he is a big player off 5lb lower over the larger obstacles. Sharp Note is another to consider stepping up markedly in distance.
HENERYETTA BAY has made an encouraging start to her chasing career, and whilst evidently not the most straightforward, she should take all the beating again in a race that appears to lack depth. Tommydan won over hurdles at Southwell last week and is the obvious threat from his lower chase mark.
After last week's hurdle win, TOMMYDAN is the likeliest winner if all goes well.

1st (4) (10/1 -33%) Ayr Of Elegance |
10/1(-33%) | (4) Ayr Of Elegance 10/1, Course winner but below her best after a 6-month absence on her last two starts at Stratford and Huntingdon. Veteran is weighted to go well if getting back on track though. Fair efforts this season and now down to a tempting mark; often makes the running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (2.5/1 -11%) Komedy Kicks |
2.5/1(-11%) | (3) Komedy Kicks 2.5/1, Fair maiden on the Flat for Jessica Harrington who made it 2-4 for her current yard over hurdles when landing 2m novice at Stratford 11 days ago. Highly respected back in handicap company. Two novice wins from her last three starts and likely to give it a go back in a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (1.25/1 -37%) Magical Maggie |
1.25/1(-37%) | (1) Magical Maggie 1.25/1, Progressive sort who bagged her third win in this sphere on her handicap debut at Cartmel (17.2f, good) 18 days ago. Big shout nudged up 2 lb. Good career record and only 2lb above last month's winning mark at Cartmel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (3/1 +54%) Tibbie Dunbar |
3/1(+54%) | (2) Tibbie Dunbar 3/1, Fair Flat/hurdles winner who ran well to finish second from this mark at Taunton (19f) in November and has continued the good work on the level since, second at Goodwood 39 days ago. No reason why she won't go well again. Fell when last seen over hurdles but good Flat run last month and Sean Bowen on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MAGICAL MAGGIE made it five wins from nine starts on her latest outing with a third success over obstacles at Cartmel last month. The Alastair Ralph-trained mare kept on well to put two lengths between herself and her nearest rival that day and she can take another step forward off 2lb higher. Komedy Kicks has been a consistent customer this term looks the most immediate danger with Harry Cobden returning to ride, while Tibbie Dunbar can follow them home.
A case can be made for all of the quartet but Alastair Ralph's improving MAGICAL MAGGIE made a winning start in handicaps at Cartmel last time and can bag a fourth hurdling success off just a 2 lb higher mark. Komedy Kicks is thriving under the tutelage of Milton Harris and rates a big threat.
With a good pace likely, the reliable MAGICAL MAGGIE can win again.

1st (1) (0.18/1 +55%) Myristica |
0.18/1(+55%) | (1) Myristica 0.18/1, Fairly-useful Flat performer who backed up her promising Worcester hurdle debut when scoring with ease at Southwell (15.8f, good) last month. Holds obvious claims. Easy winner at Southwell three weeks ago and she's the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (50/1 -25%) Ryder's Rock |
50/1(-25%) | (5) Ryder's Rock 50/1, Limited impact in a couple of bumpers and finished well beaten here last month on sole completed start in this sphere. Blinkers now added for first time. Yet to get to grips with hurdling after two attempts; blinkers fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (66/1 +34%) Allez Allez Dancer |
66/1(+34%) | (2) Allez Allez Dancer 66/1, Offered a little more than on debut when fifth of 10 in novice over C&D (good) 14 days ago but will hold better claims when sent handicapping. Well beaten in both starts over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (3.33/1 -77%) Tique |
3.33/1(-77%) | (8) Tique 3.33/1, Found improvement when opening her account in 9-runner bumper at Bangor (16.7f, good) 25 days ago and must be taken seriously on hurdles debut. Bumper winner last month; of interest now tackling hurdles for the first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) (40/1 +60%) Beautiful Surprise |
40/1(+60%) | (7) Beautiful Surprise 40/1, Fair handicapper on the Flat but well held all 3 completed starts over hurdles. Flat winner; too keen over hurdles and well beaten all three completions. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MYRISTICA was a useful performer on the Flat and has transferred that ability to hurdling, brushing aside her rivals at Southwell last month. The David Pipe-trained five-year-old could have more to offer and gets the nod to continue her ascendancy under a penalty. Tique shed the maiden tag by claiming a bumper at Bangor-on-Dee last time out and she must be respected with an age allowance on her hurdling bow. The others need to step up markedly and Jacktot is the pick of them.
MYRISTICA had any amount in hand when opening her hurdles account at Southwell last month and can follow up. Bangor bumper winner Tique could provide the biggest threat if taking to this discipline.
Having taken well to hurdles, MYRISTICA can gain a second success.

1st (5) (2/1 +60%) Noahthirtytwored |
2/1(+60%) | (5) Noahthirtytwored 2/1, Progressive 4-time winner over hurdles who took his form up a notch over fences in the autumn, scoring at this C&D prior to a good fourth in a Cheltenham novice in October. Fit from spin on Flat when fourth at Lingfield 13 days ago and remains of interest over fences. Up in class but has been running well and could be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2.75/1 -38%) Light N Strike |
2.75/1(-38%) | (1) Light N Strike 2.75/1, After 6 months off, shaped well when runner-up at Kempton in April and confirmed that promise when gaining a fourth success over fences in handicap at Warwick (16.2f) 3 weeks ago, clear quickly having travelled smoothly. Leading contender. Won in style at Warwick last month; up 8lb but might be able to defy the rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (14/1 -56%) Kauto The King |
14/1(-56%) | (6) Kauto The King 14/1, Completed a hat-trick at the start of last summer, with a pair of victories here including this corresponding event. His form has gone the wrong way since then, but he's dropped to a dangerous mark as a result and could benefit from the application of cheekpieces. Won this last year and now 6lb lower; has been out of form lately; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (6.5/1 +19%) Elios D'Or |
6.5/1(+19%) | (7) Elios D'Or 6.5/1, Successful 3 times at around 2m last season (over hurdles on final occasion) and back to winning ways in 4-runner handicap chase at Stratford (17f) 11 days ago. More needed in this contest, but he can give his running again with blinkers back on. Narrow winner at Stratford 11 days ago; only 2lb higher but this is tougher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (3.5/1 +22%) Magic Saint |
3.5/1(+22%) | (4) Magic Saint 3.5/1, Off the mark in hunters at Wincanton (20.2f) in March before finding his stamina stretched at Aintree (21.1f). Has made the frame both starts so far this season, runner-up back down in trip at Stratford (17f) 12 days ago. Can go well with blinkers on first time. Not as good as he was and only one hunter chase win this spring; blinkers on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (12/1 -118%) Clear The Runway |
12/1(-118%) | (2) Clear The Runway 12/1, Highly progressive hurdler/chaser last year, completing a 5-timer in handicap chase at Worcester (16.5f) in September. Tremendous run of form came to halt on his first start at Cheltenham in October, but no surprise to see him get back on track on his return. Vastly improved last year but not seen since well beaten at Cheltenham in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (20/1 -43%) Geromino |
20/1(-43%) | (3) Geromino 20/1, Made most of good opportunities to bag 4 small-field chase events (at up to 20.3f) last summer, prior to finding Tommy's Oscar too strong in a match at Carlisle in October. Hasn't fired yet in 2 starts after a break, but should be suited by the return to better ground. Five wins in small fields last year; well beaten both starts this spring, after a break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
LIGHT N STRIKE has benefitted from a recent return to chasing and an 8lb rise for his comfortable success at Warwick last time may not be enough to prevent Emma Lavelle's seven-year-old from going in again. Noahthirtytwored will need to put last month's fall at Southwell behind him, nevertheless, he looks capable of more over fences and isn't taken lightly. Last-time-out winner Elios D'Or completes the shortlist.
LIGHT N STRIKE built on the promise of his previous run when scoring in good style at Warwick last month, taking his record to 4 wins from 10 completed outings over fences, and the 7-y-o can continue to go the right way as a chaser. He is taken to get the better of Magic Saint who can go well in first-time blinkers, while Noahthirtytwored also merits consideration.
A rise in class might not stop NOAHTHIRTYTWORED gaining a second chasing success.

1st (2) (0.73/1 +39%) Opening Bid |
0.73/1(+39%) | (2) Opening Bid 0.73/1, Winner over hurdles at Uttoxeter in December and remained in form since, off the mark over fences at Worcester 19 days ago. Should go well again. Getting better as a chaser and 4lb rise for Worcester win might not stop him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3.5/1 -40%) Princess Midnight |
3.5/1(-40%) | (4) Princess Midnight 3.5/1, Had a productive 2022, winning 3 times, latest when making all at Hereford (20.9f) in October. Made an encouraging return when runner-up at Stratford last month and can resume winning ways. Good Stratford second on return from six months off; down in trip; good chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (8/1 +20%) Forget You Not |
8/1(+20%) | (5) Forget You Not 8/1, Resumed winning ways in a 7-runner handicap chase at Exeter (19f, good) in October. Well below par all 4 starts since, however. Good or quicker ground suits but hasn't been in form so far this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (33/1 -83%) Fanzio |
33/1(-83%) | (1) Fanzio 33/1, Ended time with Richard Hobson with success at Taunton (16.1f) in March but well beaten on both starts for this yard following month. Others more persuasive. Tailed off both starts for this stable; Gavin Sheehan back on board. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (5.5/1 +73%) Mountain Grey |
5.5/1(+73%) | (6) Mountain Grey 5.5/1, Poor form over hurdles/fences and easy to oppose from out of the handicap. Unplaced all starts and 7lb out of the handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
OPENING BID confirmed the promise of his penultimate runner-up effort at Exeter when battling back to record a break-through success over fences at Worcester last month and Chris Down's gelding looks fairly treated off only 4lb higher. Princess Midnight posted a solid second on her return to action at Stratford in May and cannot be discounted off the same mark here, while connections of Duke Of Luckley reach for a first-time visor and he also enters calculations.
PRINCESS MIDNIGHT is a very likeable mare who's much more consistent than most at this level and should enjoy another profitable summer after making an encouraging return at Stratford. She shades the vote over the in-form Opening Bid.
Back down in trip, PRINCESS MIDNIGHT (nap) should prove hard to catch.

1st (8) (7.5/1 -67%) Vin Rouge |
7.5/1(-67%) | (8) Vin Rouge 7.5/1, Scored readily a couple of times on the Flat last summer before gaining a first success over hurdles in a Fontwell handicap in August. Back to form there last time and not discounted. Step in right direction when third at Fontwell last month; not out of this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (6.5/1 -86%) Kolisi |
6.5/1(-86%) | (1) Kolisi 6.5/1, Likeable type who returned from 8 months off (had undergone breathing operation) with a good effort at Market Rasen last time. Leading claims. Ran well for a long way when second at Market Rasen, after a break; should go close. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (3/1 +60%) Sassified |
3/1(+60%) | (9) Sassified 3/1, Fairly useful on Flat in Ireland for Johnny Murtagh but yet to make a mark over hurdles. Too well handicapped to ignore, however, particularly if the market speaks in his favour. Unplaced in all six hurdle starts; needs to find more to be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (12/1 +14%) Urabamba |
12/1(+14%) | (7) Urabamba 12/1, Winner of 2m Wexford maiden hurdle for Henry de Bromhead in summer 2021. Only modest form since joining this yard, only fourth in a handicap chase at Worcester last time. Has a bit to prove but becoming well handicapped. Returns from a spell of chasing; down to a low mark and stable in good form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (5/1 -43%) Mutual Respect |
5/1(-43%) | (2) Mutual Respect 5/1, Remains winless following 19 attempts overall but arrives on the back of a good second at Uttoxeter and this isn't a strong contest, so looks a big player. Better than form figures suggest and of interest on his Uttoxeter second last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (50/1 +0%) Olly's Folly |
50/1(+0%) | (6) Olly's Folly 50/1, Long-standing maiden who looks set for another struggle. Hasn't found last summer's novice form in his efforts this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (9/1 +25%) Scrappy Jack |
9/1(+25%) | (4) Scrappy Jack 9/1, Winner of back-to-back juvenile hurdles here in 2021 but has struggled in handicaps this season. Others preferred. Two C&D wins in 2021 but little in four starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (10/1 -25%) Alkhattaaf |
10/1(-25%) | (5) Alkhattaaf 10/1, Best effort over hurdles when second in Wincanton maiden in April. Scored on the Flat subsequently and, while only sixth at Huntingdon last time, first-time cheekpieces could help here. Didn't enjoy the clearest of runs at Huntingdon and capable of better; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|DQ| (3) (28/1 -155%) Reams Of Love |
28/1(-155%) | (3) Reams Of Love 28/1, Fair performer on the Flat who opened his account over hurdles in 2m maiden at Stratford a year ago. Not so good since though, off 7 months before ninth in 2m4f Huntingdon handicap 34 days ago. Others appeal more. Hasn't built on last year's win; well beaten on return from a break; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (7.5/1 +66%) Amalfi Skyline |
7.5/1(+66%) | (10) Amalfi Skyline 7.5/1, Yet to offer much in 3 goes over hurdles but pedigree gives some hope for improvement now switched to handicaps. Worth monitoring in the betting. Well beaten when completing in novices; might do better now handicapping on quicker ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (9/1 +73%) Presgrave |
9/1(+73%) | (12) Presgrave 9/1, Solid third of 15 over 19f at Taunton in November but has failed to back that effort up in 3 subsequent starts, and record in this sphere stands at 0-15. 0-20 and only occasional good runs; pulled up latest start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (33/1 -65%) African Sun |
33/1(-65%) | (11) African Sun 33/1, Won at Uttoxeter (2m) in July last year. Respectable effort at Southwell when last seen 6 months ago but he's not the most reliable. Won off this mark last July but now returns from seven months off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Urabamba warrants a second look in a contest lacking depth, but MUTUAL RESPECT kept on for second over 2m at Uttoxeter last month and gets the vote. Even though he remains a maiden after 15 hurdle starts, he shaped as though he can progress further off the same mark as last time. Kolisi is another to consider following a distant second at Market Rasen earlier this month.
KOLISI showed the benefit of a breathing operation when second at Market Rasen on return recently and he's fancied to go one better in a thin race. Mutual Respect is the obvious danger and Sassified is likely to get involved if strong in the betting.
If cheekpieces offer some help, ALKHATTAAF can do much better than when sixth at Huntingdon last month.

1st (1) (1.2/1 +40%) Corporal Jackjones |
1.2/1(+40%) | (1) Corporal Jackjones 1.2/1, Left debut behind when winning a 3-runner event over C&D a week ago for Nigel Twiston-Davies. More needed under a penalty turned out quickly for new stable. Easily beat two rivals over C&D last week; could defy penalty on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (6.5/1 +54%) Maillot Vert |
6.5/1(+54%) | (4) Maillot Vert 6.5/1, Dunaden gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including ungenuine but smart hurdler/fairly useful chaser Up And Go, stayed 23f, and fair hurdler Maillot Blanc. Betting should help guide to expectations. Some appeal on pedigree but trainer 0-6 in bumpers in last five years. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (66/1 +0%) Prelinsia |
66/1(+0%) | (7) Prelinsia 66/1, Related to winners but beaten a long way in bumpers 7 months apart. Well beaten in both starts. |

4th (3) (2.5/1 +29%) Buck Of Maine |
2.5/1(+29%) | (3) Buck Of Maine 2.5/1, From a good French family and promise when third of 6 in Plumpton bumper on debut a month ago. Could improve and bold show likely for in-form stable. Third at Plumpton last month; should improve for that experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (5.5/1 +15%) Petrograd |
5.5/1(+15%) | (5) Petrograd 5.5/1, Maxios gelding. Dam unraced. Wears tongue strap for debut. One to note in the market. Some appeal on paper but yard has modest record in bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (10/1 +38%) Telenn D'annain |
10/1(+38%) | (6) Telenn D'annain 10/1, Cokoriko gelding. Dam, maiden over hurdles in France, half-sister to fairly useful French hurdler (17f winner) Lou Princess. Petrograd possibly the stable first string on jockey bookings but the betting will reveal more. Modest appeal on paper; one of two newcomers for yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A facile winner over C&D earlier this month, when trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies, CORPORAL JACKJONES remains open to progression on his debut for Syd Hosie. He has to shoulder a 7lb penalty for that success, but the fact Beau Morgan negates all of that with his claim makes the son of Milan of interest. Six And Out sports a first-time tongue-tie following a decent second at Wincanton last November and shades the danger vote from Buck Of Maine, who is taken to build on a fair third at Plumpton most recently.
Unless the betting speaks in the favour of one of the Christian Williams newcomers this may develop into a straight fight between SIX AND OUT and Buck of Maine, with the former selected to make it third time lucky after a pair of promising runner-up efforts.
The form of SIX AND OUT's two runs entitle him to make it third-time lucky.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
