13:45 Newmarket Stakes (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A newcomer landed this contest last year and it may pay to side with another this time in the shape of LIVE EACH DAY. A daughter of multiple Group 1 winner Persian King, the William Haggas-trained youngster should have no issue with the ground and is preferred to the well-bred Qarlyga, who makes her debut for a stable that is always worth watching with fillies at this track. Of those with experience, Hamilton second Misty Sky and top-weight Fleetwater stand out.

Given the form on offer, a newcomer may well be up to the challenge and before the benefit of market clues, QARLYGA, Live Each Day and With Zest are preferred in that order.

The form standard isn't daunting, so interesting newcomers WITH ZEST, Qarlyga and Live Each Day comprise the shortlist.

14:20 Newmarket Stakes (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

An intriguing novice with a whole host of illustrious pedigrees to choose from, and it may be the soon-to-retire Sir Michael Stoute who comes out on top with PINHOLE. A brother to Fillies' Mile winner Quadrilateral, who struck on debut herself, the son of Frankel is preferred to Mudbir, who hails from a family that the Gosdens have been very successful with for these owners in recent years. Humam should handle this ground well, being a half-brother to mudlark Vadream, while Due West is another to note.

HIDDEN SECRET was held back by greenness when down the field in a novice won by his smart stablemate Ancient Truth on the July Course this summer. He's been gelded in the meantime and a much better showing can be expected. There are some well-bred newcomers for powerful stables in opposition, the standout being Mudbir, who's from a family connections' have had plenty of success with. Due West is another notable debutant.

All of the newcomers have good credentials, particularly MUDBIR, Due West, Humam and Pinhole.

14:55 Newmarket Maiden (Class 3) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

A 400,000gns son of Frankel out of Prix de l'Opera winner Villa Marina, THE CURSOR is likely to relish this ground and he can strike on debut for connections that are more than adept at readying newcomers. Bred in the purple having cost a huge sum, Arabian Poet may have been a disappointment on debut on the July Course, but better can be expected here and the fact William Buick seemingly prefers him to stablemate Tremorgio is a plus.

THE CURSOR makes plenty of appeal for a stable who won this 12 months ago and he could just be worth chancing on debut before the benefit of market clues. Arabian Poet, who proved too green to make an impact on debut, is surely capable of better, and along with his stablemate Tremorgio, may well emerge as the lead dangers.

Arabian Poet, Mersea Island and St Mawes have possibilities but preference is for interesting newcomer THE CURSOR.

15:30 Newmarket Handicap (Class 2) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

ANNIVERSARY lost little in defeat when unable to concede 3lb to a now 101-rated rival at Epsom last month. An opening mark of 91 looks extremely workable and Ralph Beckett's colt is taken to regain the winning thread. Fellow nursery debutant Watching Stars made it third-time lucky when opening his account at Thirsk and first-time cheekpieces could improve him further. The son of Sea The Stars is feared most, ahead of Harmonia.

WATCHING STARS made it third time lucky with a gutsy display at Thirsk last month and, with this step up in distance sure to suit, Charlie Appleby's colt can get the better of Anniversary, who has made a promising start and remains open to improvement now handicapping up in trip. Harmonia and Lazieelunch can fight out minor honours.

Still open to progress, ANNIVERSARY could well defy top weight. Steadily improving Watching Stars is feared most.

16:05 Newmarket Handicap (Class 3) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Surveyor endured a rough passage when finishing third at Wolverhampton earlier this month and she must enter calculations reverting to turf. However, rain-softened ground may not enable James Fanshawe's filly to show her best and preference is for QUEEN'S REIGN. The daughter of Siyouni wasn't disgraced when seventh in a Listed event at Ascot and a bold bid is forecast back in handicap company. Twirling and Zapphire look best of the remainder.

ZAPPHIRE ran right up to her best when third at Redcar earlier this month and looks the safest option in a tricky-looking handicap. Market support for Lunar Eclipse could prove significant, as she remains open to improvement, whilst Surveyor is also much respected.

One-time Oaks entry LUNAR ECLIPSE (nap) is particularly interesting off an opening mark of 81. Zapphire is second choice.

16:40 Newmarket Stakes (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

PRESENT TIMES offered a lot of encouragement when second, despite doing plenty wrong, on his debut over C&D last month and with the promise of improvement to come, he looks the one to side with in what should be a very informative affair. Too Don Juan and I Am I Said give Ralph Beckett a strong hand, with the former looking the pick after a promising fourth at Salisbury on his introduction. Recent Newcastle runner-up Byblos is also noteworthy.

Although already gelded, PRESENT TIMES showed up well when runner-up over C&D on debut and, with improvement forthcoming, he's fancied to edge out Byblos, who is closely matched with him on form. I Am I Said is a newcomer to note.

Smartly bred BYBLOS is taken to show further progress and get off the mark. Present Times is feared most.

17:15 Newmarket Handicap (Class 4) 7f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Punters will need to be in a forgiving mood with MEGALITHIC, but it may pay to do so. He hasn't cut much ice in his two starts in nurseries but he showed a useful level of form prior to that and, sporting first-time blinkers off what may transpire to be a workable mark, he gets a tentative nod. Veydari kept on well when scoring over 6f on testing ground at Pontefract and merits consideration, while Al Misbar has shown enough in his three qualifying runs to suggest that he can play a hand on his first appearance as a gelding.

AL MISBAR hasn't lived up to his huge price tag as yet but, after a gelding operation, there's scope for him to step forward now handicapping and he's preferred to last-time-out winners Veydari and We Dare To Dream in a competitive nursery.

The attractively bred NOBLE GUEST could settle better now he's been gelded and he's taken to make a winning nursery debut.
