1st (4) (16/5 +84%) North Parade |
16/5(+84%) | (4) North Parade 16/5, Sketchy jumper who wasn't at his best when down the field at Sedgefield on reappearance. Well treated, though, and stable is going better. Has an inconsistent profile and is untested at this trip, but he's on a dangerous mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/1 -180%) Classic Maestro |
7/1(-180%) | (1) Classic Maestro 7/1, Cheap purchase after placing in points but there has been encouragement on both hurdles outings to date. Handicapper has taken no chances with opening mark but he still warrants respect. Has shown ability on both rules starts; on a fair opening mark and is open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/2 +44%) Poetria |
9/2(+44%) | (8) Poetria 9/2, Modest form at best over hurdles. Has hit the frame both starts this season and is expected to get involved in this weak race. 0-11 but didn't run badly on her two starts last month and she might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (13/2 -44%) Greenhill Gardens |
13/2(-44%) | (5) Greenhill Gardens 13/2, Showed a bit in 2 bumpers and both completed outings over hurdles, just fifth in a novice at Hexham 22 days ago. Upped in trip for handicap bow, so may do better. 4yo who could be on a good mark for his handicap debut, especially now up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (9/1 +73%) Oliver's Island |
9/1(+73%) | (10) Oliver's Island 9/1, Returned to winning ways with a narrow success at Market Rasen last December. Not in the same form since, but now 3 lb below that winning mark and, with a recent spin at the aforementioned course likely to have blown away the cobwebs. Won at Market Rasen last December but this 11yo has been below par on his three runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (10/3 -21%) Ffree Pedro |
10/3(-21%) | (2) Ffree Pedro 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable second of 11 in handicap hurdle (4/1) at Bangor (23f, soft). Off 8 months. More to come and worth taking the chance that he's ready to go on return. Respectable second on h'cap debut in March; could have more to offer for top northern yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (150/1 -500%) Manfrominverlochy |
150/1(-500%) | (6) Manfrominverlochy 150/1, No impact in a bumper/over hurdles in Ireland and pulled up in novice at Hexham on debut for this yard last month. Hard to fancy. Has shown little on his five starts; goes handicapping off lowly mark but hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (9/1 -80%) Kian Calling |
9/1(-80%) | (9) Kian Calling 9/1, Showed some promise in bumpers and, while he's yet to match that encouragement over hurdles, there's scope for him to do better now handicapping with his stable going well. Absent since March 2022 but returns with stable in fine form; interesting on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (20/1 +0%) Big Bee Hive |
20/1(+0%) | (3) Big Bee Hive 20/1, Ended time in Ireland with a much-improved display to land a big-field handicap hurdle at Clonmel in March 2022. Sent off at 66/1 and poor effort on sole start for Joanne Foster last December (absent since) and hard to know what to expect of him on debut for another new yard. Check betting on stable debut, but pulled up last December when last seen. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
FFREE PEDRO capped off last season with a solid second on his handicap bow at Bangor and a similar bid on his return to action may see him finish one place better in this contest. Classic Maestro has fitness on his side and is a viable alternative to the selection. Poetria posted creditable efforts in defeat at Sedgefield and Uttoxeter last month and the mare is unlikely to be far away.
FFREE PEDRO upped his game when second at Bangor 8 months ago and there's likely more to come, so he gets the nod over Classic Maestro, who is the type to do better now handicapping. Market support for Kian Calling would look significant.
The step up in trip could be a plus for the 4yo GREENHILL GARDENS who earns the vote ahead of fellow handicap newcomer Kian Calling

Court At Slip |
(6) (3/1 +45%)3/1(+45%) | (6) Court At Slip 3/1, Likeable sort who scored 3 times last season and he returned with a creditable fourth of 7 in handicap chase at Catterick (25.2f, good to soft) 20 days ago. This C&D scorer is firmly in the picture. Won three times last term and could improve for last month's reappearance 3rd; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
East Street |
(1) (3/1 +40%)3/1(+40%) | (1) East Street 3/1, Unreliable type but he resumed winning ways in 9-runner handicap chase at Wetherby (24.2f, heavy) 26 days ago by nose from Best Trition, despite racing lazily. Needs to back it up. Won at favourite course Wetherby last month; good third over this C&D in April; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Best Trition |
(3) (7/1 -110%)7/1(-110%) | (3) Best Trition 7/1, Unreliable type but he resumed from 7 months off with nose second of 9 to East Street in handicap chase at Wetherby (24.2f, heavy) 26 days ago. In the mix if reproducing that form. More miss than hit over the last 12 months or so but went very close at Wetherby last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Glittering Love |
(4) (8/1 +33%)8/1(+33%) | (4) Glittering Love 8/1, Veteran who went close a couple of times last season but he took little interest on his final start and was well held on his reappearance at Carlisle. Something to prove. Well beaten on reappearance last month but went close on his second start of last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
No Cruise Yet |
(2) (9/2 -200%)9/2(-200%) | (2) No Cruise Yet 9/2, Really likeable staying chaser who dug deep to win 3m4f handicap at Haydock last November. Good placed efforts after, including on his return when runner-up in 29f Sedgefield handicap. Winner has gone in again so he can go well despite a 2 lb rise. Stays further but that may be no bad thing on the ground; went close at Sedgefield latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Here Comes The Man |
(5) (11/2 +61%)11/2(+61%) | (5) Here Comes The Man 11/2, Point winner who made a winning chase debut in 23f handicap at Newcastle in April. Well below par both runs since though, sixth of 7 in handicap chase at Carlisle (26.2f, soft) 49 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Won in fine style on chase debut over C&D in April but well beaten on both starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Canelo |
(7) (25/1 -108%)25/1(-108%) | (7) Canelo 25/1, Won the Rowland Meyrick Chase at Wetherby in 2020/21 but below par since falling in 2021 Grand National, including on all three runs for this yard. Others appeal more. Continues to tumble down weights but returns from layoff and this 10yo struggled last year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
NO CRUISE YET found only a subsequent winner too strong at Sedgefield in October. Sam England's charge is only 2lb higher in the ratings and compensation could await, with East Street feared most. The seven-year-old displayed a willing attitude to lands the spoils at Wetherby last month and a 3lb rise is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. Court At Slip completes the shortlist.
NO CRUISE YET shaped well on his return when runner-up at Sedgefield and can go one better with that form working out well. C&D winner Court At Slip is weighted to go close and can pose the chief threat to Sam England's likeable chaser ahead of East Street, who can also have a say if on his A-game.
Preference is for NO CRUISE YET (nap), who was second in the Durham National last time and whose surplus stamina may well be a plus.

Workhardplayhard |
(6) (6/1 -200%)6/1(-200%) | (6) Workhardplayhard 6/1, Won his sole start between the flags in February. Promising second in novice hurdle at Sedgefield on Rules debut 4 weeks ago despite running green throughout. Will improve and big chance of going one better. Point-to-point bumper winner who was second on hurdle debut; could be a contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ikarak |
(1) (11/10 +0%)11/10(+0%) | (1) Ikarak 11/10, Fairly useful form in France (winning chaser) and didn't have to improve when off the mark over hurdles on fourth and final start for Milton Harris in October. Leading contender under a penalty. Carries 7lb penalty but this Worcester novice hurdle winner is still the one to beat today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Both Barrels |
(2) (11/8 +72%)11/8(+72%) | (2) Both Barrels 11/8, Made the frame all 3 starts in bumpers and did so again without looking anything out of the ordinary switched to hurdles after 8 months off at Carlisle 39 days ago. More needed. This longer trip could prompt further improvement on second hurdle start; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Young Jack |
(7) (25/1 -108%)25/1(-108%) | (7) Young Jack 25/1, Champs Elysees gelding. Dam, 19f hurdle winner, half-sister to useful hurdler/chaser (2¾m winner) Provo. £14,500 purchase after winning an Irish point in May. Could play a part now hurdling for new connections. Point winner who brings potential to this rules debut and the betting may be informative. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Fortuitous Find |
(3) (25/1 -79%)25/1(-79%) | (3) Fortuitous Find 25/1, Winning pointer who showed ability sent hurdling in decent contest at Doncaster a year ago but well held at Leicester on first run since. Winning pointer but he's been soundly beaten on his first two hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Kinder Kid |
(4) (66/1 -100%)66/1(-100%) | (4) Kinder Kid 66/1, £46,000 4-y-o, Milan gelding. Dam, no form, half-sister to useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 4¼m) Final Nudge. Third sole start in Irish points (Apr 2022). Promising third in sole Irish point but that was in April 2022 and he's been absent since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Swedish Icon |
(5) (200/1 -506%)200/1(-506%) | (5) Swedish Icon 200/1, Half-brother to 6 winners but well held in 2 bumpers in the spring. There's potential in his pedigree but he was tailed off in his two bumpers in the spring. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
IKARAK supplemented his fine second in a competitive handicap hurdle at Worcester in September with a success at the same course the following month. Bradley Harris claims a handy 5lb, which negates most of the 7lb penalty, and the five-year-old should take all of the beating. Workhardplayhard was runner-up on his Rules debut at Sedgefield and may give the selection most to think about, ahead of Both Barrels.
Winning-pointer WORKHARDPLAYHARD produced a promising first effort over hurdles when second at Sedgefield and the 7 lb he receives from penalised-winner Ikarak may prove decisive.
Worcester winner IKARAK has consistently performed at a good level and he is taken to defy the 7lb penalty and follow up.

Lebowski |
(3) (3/1 -50%)3/1(-50%) | (3) Lebowski 3/1, 3-time hurdle winner for Michael Scudamore, including on return to action at Wetherby (2m, soft) last December. Essentially disappointing thereafter and he did too much too soon on return following a breathing op at Chepstow (2m) in October. Tongue strap refitted. Return to form needed but he runs off last winning mark; one to watch in the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dare To Shout |
(1) (7/2 +13%)7/2(+13%) | (1) Dare To Shout 7/2, Point winner who looked a good prospect when winning back-to-back novice hurdles at Kelso and over C&D earlier this year and resumed progress after a wind-op/summer break when scoring at Hexham (20.1f, heavy) in October. Possibly amiss when tailed-off last at Aintree later that month, though. Disappointing at Aintree but progressive previously and could bounce back with a big run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Horn Cape |
(5) (9/2 -35%)9/2(-35%) | (5) Horn Cape 9/2, Capitalised on the drop in grade returned to hurdling with victory in 10-runner handicap at Sedgefield (16.8f, soft) last month, staying on to lead close home. Shaped as if still in good form when third there (19.8f, heavy) a week later so he could well be in the mix again. In top form the last twice and could play a leading role now back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
War Soldier |
(4) (13/8 +46%)13/8(+46%) | (4) War Soldier 13/8, Winner of a course maiden and Haydock novice towards the end of 2022. Handicap debut third back over C&D in March was respectable and caught the eye in a deeper race when mid-field at Ayr a month later. Interesting from this mark provided he's ready to roll. Fair efforts in the spring in first two handicaps; needs something extra but he's only six. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Not What It Seems |
(2) (18/1 -112%)18/1(-112%) | (2) Not What It Seems 18/1, Completed hat-trick of novice hurdle successes when seeing off 5 rivals at Wetherby last October. Sound start to his chase career when third of 6 over 19.5f there over Christmas but made mistakes and was pulled up at Lingfield when last seen 10 months ago. Makes return back over timber. Absent since pulled up over fences in February but progressive otherwise last season. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Previous C&D winner Dare To Shout has lacked consistency in recent starts, but the son of Martaline will appreciate forecast ground conditions and must not be ruled out. However, the vote goes to LEBOWSKI, who attracted market support on his seasonal reappearance in October and might step forward on his second outing following wind surgery. War Soldier is another to consider.
Tough to rule out any of the quintet but the vote goes to WAR SOLDIER, who already boasts a couple of course wins and really caught the eye when last seen at Ayr 7 months ago. Provided he's ready to roll, he can get the better of Lebowski, who did too much too soon on return/yard debut at Chepstow in October but should be much closer to form here. Horn Cape looks best of the rest.
Topweight DARE TO SHOUT was well beaten at Aintree last time but is back in much calmer waters today and was progressive previously.

Great Raffles |
(4) (3/1 +57%)3/1(+57%) | (4) Great Raffles 3/1, Dual winner over hurdles who acquitted himself well in defeat in all 4 starts last term. Tries chasing on return to action and is worth monitoring in market. Chase and seasonal debut; his dam was useful over fences and he's not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tom Cody |
(2) (4/7 +75%)4/7(+75%) | (2) Tom Cody 4/7, Multiple point winner who was only narrowly denied on handicap debut over C&D (good to soft, 7/2) 21 days ago. 2 lb rise fair and holds solid claims. Cheekpieces on first time. Five-time point winner who went close over C&D on handicap chase debut; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Just Hannah |
(5) (10/1 +17%)10/1(+17%) | (5) Just Hannah 10/1, Point winner who has yet to click for current yard and didn't offer much on her previous try at chasing. Mark is potentially lenient, however. Point winner; check betting on chase debut but she's been struggling over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Old Page |
(7) (15/2 +77%)15/2(+77%) | (7) Old Page 15/2, Little worthwhile form and is likely best watched from 7 lb out of the handicap. 0-20 under rules and hasn't been threatening to win of late; 7lb out of the handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The vote goes to TOM CODY. Narrowly denied over C&D three weeks ago, Rebecca Menzies' new recruit should progress and first-time cheekpieces could help eke out more. Goodoldbill should also be on the premises after he made his first start at the track a winning one last month. Of the others, keep an eye on Great Raffles on his seasonal reappearance.
GOODOLDBILL has been raied only 3 lb for his C&D win 3 weeks ago and looks the one to beat..Tom Cody is also respected.
The unexposed chaser TOM CODY went close over C&D three weeks ago and is taken to get off the mark under rules.

For Three |
(7) (3/1 -50%)3/1(-50%) | (7) For Three 3/1, Attracted plenty of support and shaped well when runner-up at Sedgefield on first start for this yard in November. Far too keen for his own good there last time but looks worth another chance. A close second and a fair fourth from his two runs for this yard; could be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hashtag Lord |
(6) (3/1 +50%)3/1(+50%) | (6) Hashtag Lord 3/1, Placed 3 times over hurdles last winter and ran respectably after a breathing operation when fourth of 8 at Musselburgh (15.8f, good to soft, 4/1) on chase debut 36 days ago. Place claims from reduced mark. Has shown some fair handicap form and he's dropped down the weights; could be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ingennio |
(4) (4/1 -14%)4/1(-14%) | (4) Ingennio 4/1, Runner-up in handicaps at Huntingdon and Taunton earlier this year but has shaped as if in decent heart on both outings since summer break, including when third of 7 at Uttoxeter (19.9f, heavy) 18 days ago. Mark has been nudged down and he's not discounted. 0-11 but fair 3rd over 2m4f at Uttoxeter recently and could benefit from this shorter trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ballyquin Bay |
(2) (7/1 -17%)7/1(-17%) | (2) Ballyquin Bay 7/1, Fair maiden hurdler for Gordon Elliott and produced best effort since joining this yard when fourth in Kelso handicap last month. Well treated if he can build on that. Took step back in right direction at Kelso last month and he's not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Belle Na Bann |
(9) (11/2 +31%)11/2(+31%) | (9) Belle Na Bann 11/2, Dual winner for Neil Mulholland in summer 2022 and made the frame on her first 3 outings current yard early in the year. Not disgraced when fifth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (16.8f, soft) 35 days ago but probably needs a couple of these to falter. Returned from break with fair fifth at Sedgefield and could improve for that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bridget Breeze |
(1) (17/2 -6%)17/2(-6%) | (1) Bridget Breeze 17/2, Made a successful start in a Kelso bumper last season and showed modest form when placed both starts over hurdles last season. Disappointing when pulled up on handicap debut last time, though, and now drops to 2m for first time over obstacles. Pulled up on return but that run may have got the freshness out of her; retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Edgar Allan Poe |
(3) (18/1 +28%)18/1(+28%) | (3) Edgar Allan Poe 18/1, Seven-time winner on the Flat who got off the mark in this sphere in 2m handicap at Catterick in January. Bled on return at Sedgefield last month, though, and he has a bit to prove on the back of that. Below last winning mark and stable in flying form; could leave reappearance well behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A Cheap Thrill |
(8) (33/1 +0%)33/1(+0%) | (8) A Cheap Thrill 33/1, Fair hurdler/chaser for Emmet Mullins who hasn't fired as yet for current stable. Form has gone wrong way and there was no upturn in fortunes back over hurdles last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Barranco |
(5) (50/1 -400%)50/1(-400%) | (5) Barranco 50/1, Bumper winner for Stuart Crawford but finished down the field on yard debut at Market Rasen and is best watched after 18 months off. Lightly raced bumper winner, but may be best watched on this return from an absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
FOR THREE may be winless since July 2021, but he has shown green shoots since joining the Sam England stable and must hold every chance if bouncing back to the form of his penultimate second at Sedgefield. Ingennio should be suited by dropping in trip after a creditable effort over further at Uttoxeter, while Hashtag Lord also has the form to get involved.
FOR THREE was keener than ideal at Sedgefield last time but is given another chance to build on the form of an encouraging stable debut in a race which looks as if it should be run to suit. Ingennio has slipped to a handy mark and has shaped as if in decent heart on his recent outings, so heads the list of dangers alongside Ballyquin Bay.
The mare BRIDGET BREEZE is much better than she showed on her handicap debut and is the selection ahead of Ingennio.

(6) (4/1 +20%)4/1(+20%) | (6) Ilitch 4/1, Has finished down the field in a couple of bumpers 7 months apart so will need to take a significant step forward having his first start on these shores. Booking of Brian Hughes does catch the eye, however. Has tackled warm bumpers on his first two starts; this looks easier and he's respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Get A Superstar |
(4) (5/4 +38%)5/4(+38%) | (4) Get A Superstar 5/4, Getaway gelding who showed ability on bumper debut at Tipperary back in the spring and improved on that form having switched yards when second in 10-runner Carlisle bumper (17f) in October. Repeat here gives him good claims of going one place better. Runner-up on stable debut at Carlisle and he holds leading form claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tigga Time |
(10) (5/2 +55%)5/2(+55%) | (10) Tigga Time 5/2, €8,000 3-y-o, £30,000 4-y-o, Malinas gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler Langley Hundred, stays 3¼m. Successful sole start in points (Apr 10) and he's well worthy of a second look on Rules/bumper debut. British maiden point win; has joined good yard for rules career; one to be interested in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Helsgetaway |
(5) (10/1 -43%)10/1(-43%) | (5) Helsgetaway 10/1, €43,000 3-y-o, Getaway gelding. Appeals on paper but ultimately undone by greenness late on when fifth in 15-runner Ayr bumper on debut 6 weeks ago. That experience won't have been wasted on him. Fifth of 15 on debut at Ayr; there's potential in his pedigree and he's in good hands. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Frankie Lamb |
(3) (11/2 +61%)11/2(+61%) | (3) Frankie Lamb 11/2, Proconsul gelding. Half-brother to bumper winners Miss Lamb and Tom Lamb. Dam placed in bumpers. One of the more appealing newcomers in this field. Bred to do well in this sphere and he's firmly in calculations on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Roebuck Bay |
(11) (15/2 -150%)15/2(-150%) | (11) Roebuck Bay 15/2, Beat Hollow filly who showed ability amidst greenness when midfield in 13-runner Kelso bumper (16.2f) on debut 33 days ago. Likely to be suited by further in due course but entitled to come on for that initial experience. Encouraging fifth on debut at Kelso and pedigree provides optimism she'll improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tees Comp's Clive |
(9) (17/2 +74%)17/2(+74%) | (9) Tees Comp's Clive 17/2, Black Sam Bellamy half-brother to 5 winners, including useful hurdler Teescomponents Lad and fairly useful hurdler Teescomponentsyess. Dam bumper winner. Makes paper appeal. One to keep a close eye on in the betting. Catches the eye on paper and no surprise to see a good run on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Fort Lauderdale |
(2) (28/1 -133%)28/1(-133%) | (2) Fort Lauderdale 28/1, Inexpensive purchase who was held back by inexperience when twelfth of 15 in bumper at Ayr (16f, good) 40 days ago, wandering badly from 2f out. This should reveal more but he's likely best watched. Could improve for last month's debut at Ayr but needs sizeable step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Teddy Mac |
(8) (125/1 -150%)125/1(-150%) | (8) Teddy Mac 125/1, Black Sam Bellamy gelding. Well held last of 5 on debut in an Ayr bumper 9 months ago. Can only be watched. Well beaten on debut at Ayr (2m, good); perhaps this testing ground will be more suitable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This can go the way of GET A SUPERSTAR, who put up a strong performance on his debut for new connections when runner-up at Carlisle in October. That form seems to set the standard in this contest and he should have too much for Roebuck Bay, who shaped with promise on her debut at Kelso. Ilitch and well-bred newcomer Frankie Lamb cannot be ruled out either.
GET A SUPERSTAR built on his bumper debut back in the spring when runner-up on debut for his new yard at Carlisle in October and a repeat here may be enough to see him go one place better. Tigga Time, successful on his only start in points, is another to consider, with Roebuck Bay and Frankie Lamb completing the shortlist.
Carlisle runner-up GET A SUPERSTAR sets the form standard and is preferred ahead of the newcomer Frankie Lamb.
Ths is the racecard key.
