1st (10) (5/1 +29%) Bobby Shaftoe |
5/1(+29%) | (10) Bobby Shaftoe 5/1, C&D winner. 3 wins from 13 runs this year. Again ran creditably fourth of 12 in handicap (9/2) at this C&D 3 days ago. Not ruled out. Three wins here in February/March and back here for minor honours on last two outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (50/1 -100%) Purple Gown |
50/1(-100%) | (4) Purple Gown 50/1, One win from 26 Flat runs. 66/1, respectable fifth of 11 in handicap at this course (10.2f) 10 days ago. Up in trip. Not fully ruled out. 2nd on second of five runs for yard; has not yet shone beyond 1m; has first go beyond 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (16/1 -357%) Restorer |
16/1(-357%) | (1) Restorer 16/1, Latest win at Chester in September. 7/2, creditable second of 5 in handicap at Hamilton (12.1f, good to soft) 53 days ago. Can give another good account. 11yo who ended a three-year losing spell in September and beaten a neck next time; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (Evens +70%) Brunello Breeze |
Evens(+70%) | (11) Brunello Breeze Evens, Improved on recent efforts to win 10-runner handicap at this C&D (5/2) 15 days ago, travelling powerfully. 8 lb rise may underestimate him. C&D win 15 days ago in sparkling fashion; back up 8lb but may have turned a major corner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (50/1 -100%) Sense Of Worth |
50/1(-100%) | (3) Sense Of Worth 50/1, Nineteen runs since last win in 2021. Seventh of 12 in handicap (80/1) at this course (10.2f) 17 days ago. Back up in trip. Hard to fancy. Recent results leave plenty to be desired, albeit not beaten far over 1m2f on latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (13/2 +0%) Isle Of Wolves |
13/2(+0%) | (8) Isle Of Wolves 13/2, Twenty runs since last win in 2019 but has held form well in defeat this season, another creditable effort when third of 11 in handicap (13/2) at this course (10.2f) 10 days ago. Back up in trip. Player. 2-38 record, with his last win in 2019; stacks of minor honours; big each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (5/1 +9%) Letaba |
5/1(+9%) | (6) Letaba 5/1, Seen to advantage when second of 13 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 36 days ago, plugging on after coming off bridle long way out in strongly-run contest. Up in trip. Makes tapeta debut. Needs a couple of these to falter. 0-11 but twice close second in 1m2f handicaps, including at Chelmsford on latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (12/1 -71%) Bustaam |
12/1(-71%) | (7) Bustaam 12/1, Very good fourth of 11 in handicap at this C&D (33/1) 7 days ago. Remains low mileage over this trip and merits consideration. Ex-French; 33-1 when fourth of 11 in C&D handicap last Friday and he could build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (100/1 -400%) Polar Princess |
100/1(-400%) | (5) Polar Princess 100/1, Lightly-raced maiden. First run since leaving John & Thady Gosden when eighth of 12 in minor event at Kempton (12f, 66/1). Off 100 days. Makes handicap debut. Uphill task. Lightly raced; after wind surgery, market may again guide on this handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (33/1 -175%) Painless Potter |
33/1(-175%) | (2) Painless Potter 33/1, Hurdles winner at Worcester in September but left Shaun Lycett and pulled in similar race at same course last time. Bit to prove back on the Flat, though has joined good yard. One win each on Flat and over hurdles; some AW minor honours make this look a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (50/1 -317%) Typewritten |
50/1(-317%) | (9) Typewritten 50/1, Rare below-par effort when eighth of 9 in handicap at Hamilton (13.1f, good to soft). Frame claims if sharp enough after 141 days off. Two respectable runs for new yard; back from a break with a disappointing turf run in June. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Brunello Breeze got off the mark over C&D at the beginning of the month having appeared to improve for a step up in trip. Despite being impressive on that occasion, the four-year-old has an 8lb rise to contend with and a chance is taken on LETABA. Ed Dunlop's gelding went close at Chelmsford on his latest start and the manner of that performance suggested he was worth another chance over this distance. Restorer, Isle of Wolves and Bustaam complete the shortlist.
A competitive handicap with several holding sound claims, though BRUNELLO BREEZE appeals most after justifying support with a taking victory over C&D earlier in the month. Bustaam remains low mileage and arrives on the back of a good effort over C&D last week, with the veteran Restorer and consistent duo Isle of Wolves and Bobby Shaftoe others to consider in a open-looking event.
The addition of blinkers has clearly agreed with BRUNELLO BREEZE (nap) and his breakthrough win came in dominant style over C&D.

Ayr Poet |
(4) (10/1 -25%)10/1(-25%) | (4) Ayr Poet 10/1, Three wins from 14 runs this year. 7/1, creditable fifth of 12 in handicap at this course (7.1f) 6 days ago. Significantly back up in trip and not without each-way hope. In-form 8yo who has run well here (1m2f/7f) in his last two starts; shouldn't be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (6) (10/1 +29%) Highwaygrey |
10/1(+29%) | (6) Highwaygrey 10/1, Creditable 2¾ lengths fifth of 12 to Governor of India in handicap at this C&D (10/1) 17 days ago, nearest finish. Hasn't got his head in front for a while, but there's no doubt that he's capable of winning races off this sort of mark. On dangerous mark and has possibilities if he gets a good pace and some luck. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (10/1 +29%) Cusack |
10/1(+29%) | (7) Cusack 10/1, Four-time course winner. 3 wins from 12 runs this year, the latest gained here last month. 11/4, only ninth of 12 in handicap at this course (8f) 17 days ago, though, he's opposable on that back of that display. Course specialist but he didn't fire last time and all wins have been in Class 6 events. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (13/2 +59%) Mercurius Power |
13/2(+59%) | (8) Mercurius Power 13/2, Course winner. Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. Creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at this C&D (7/1) 10 days ago. Looks vulnerable. Close fourth off reduced mark over C&D latest and has claims if he can build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (2/1 +11%) Governor Of India |
2/1(+11%) | (3) Governor Of India 2/1, Lightly-raced winner. Career best when winning 12-runner handicap (9/2) at this C&D 17 days ago by neck from Sagauteur, cosily. Remains open to improvement for top yard, so 6 lb rise by no means prohibitive. Won on handicap/AW debut over C&D last month and he's open to more progress; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (10/1 -67%) Cosmos Raj |
10/1(-67%) | (2) Cosmos Raj 10/1, Evens, respectable second of 5 in seller at Chelmsford City (8f) 10 days ago. Back up in trip and should be on the premises, albeit his record on the AW stands at 0-9. Six wins on turf but he's 0-9 on AW and was held in a seller last time; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/4 -38%) Evening Story |
11/4(-38%) | (1) Evening Story 11/4, First run since leaving Daniel & Claire Kubler when winning 11-runner handicap at this course (12.4f) 7 days ago, overcoming pace bias. Should cope with this drop back in trip and she's a major player under a penalty. Has won three of her last five starts and latest was at this track last week; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (12/1 -50%) Sagauteur |
12/1(-50%) | (5) Sagauteur 12/1, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2022. Neck second of 12 to Governor of India in handicap at this C&D (40/1) 17 days ago. 2 lb better off with that rival now, but his profile suggests that he's not certain to back that effort up. Went close off reduced mark behind Governor Of India over C&D last time; in the mix. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GOVERNOR OF INDIA improved from his first three starts to score on his handicap bow over C&D at the end of last month. Gelded prior to that display, that is also likely to have benefited him and a 6lb rise may not be enough to stop the son of Dubawi from going in again. Evening Story carries a 6lb penalty following last week's victory here, while others to note include Ayr Poet and Sagauteur.
It was a case of smoothly does it for EVENING STORY here last week and, with this drop back in trip unlikely to pose a problem, she is taken to complete the hat-trick. The clear main danger is fellow 3-y-o Governor of India, who made a winning all-weather/handicap debut over C&D recently and almost certainly has more to offer. Sagauteur was hot on the heels of Governor of India that day, but the each-way angle could be Highwaygrey, who encountered traffic problems when fifth in that same race.
The Gosdens' unexposed 3yo GOVERNOR OF INDIA won on his handicap debut over C&D last month and is open to more progress.

Shaped encouragingly when third of 7 in maiden at York (7.9f, soft, 9/4) on debut 34 days ago. Up in trip. Open to improvement. The form pick after his staying-on third of seven maiden at York (1m, soft); 1m2f can help. |

1st (5) (2/1 +60%) Meydaan |
2/1(+60%) | (5) Meydaan 2/1, Foaled February 22. Frankel colt. Dam 1m-1¼m winner, including of Pretty Polly Stakes. Makes plenty of appeal. Third foal; dam 1m-1m2f winner (including AW/Group 1; RPR 115); Frankel colt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (15/8 +16%) Mr Hampstead |
15/8(+16%) | (6) Mr Hampstead 15/8, Foaled March 30. $575,000 yearling, Galileo colt. Brother to smart 1¼m-1½m winner Savethelastdance. Top pedigree for a yard whose newcomers command respect. $575,000 yearling; second foal; brother to the 2023 Irish Oaks winner Savethelastdance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (40/1 -186%) Flickering Halo |
40/1(-186%) | (3) Flickering Halo 40/1, Dark Angel colt cost €90,000 as a yearling and showed a bit when fourth of 5 in maiden at Killarney (8.1f, heavy) on debut 48 days ago. Since sold for only18,000 gns from Joseph O'Brien, so others are preferred. 4th of 5 in Killarney maiden (1m, heavy); left Joseph O'Brien's for 18,000gns in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (9/1 -64%) Tokyo Bay |
9/1(-64%) | (8) Tokyo Bay 9/1, Lope De Vega colt. Half-brother to several winners, including very smart 1¼m/10.4f winner Danadana. Did best work late when second of 6 in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy, 13/2) on debut 30 days ago. May well do better now up in trip. No match for winner at Nottingham (1m, heavy) but beat the other four, coming from rear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (66/1 -164%) Sir Geoff Hurst |
66/1(-164%) | (7) Sir Geoff Hurst 66/1, Sea The Stars colt. 4/1, last of 8 in maiden at Chelmsford City (8f) on debut 13 days ago. Up in trip. 4-1 for maiden at Chelmsford (1m, AW) but slowly away and green, finishing last of eight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (125/1 -89%) Believitanducan |
125/1(-89%) | (2) Believitanducan 125/1, Make Believe gelding. Seemingly much improved from debut when fifth of 6 in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy, 80/1) 30 days ago, racing alone on fair rail in straight. Up in trip. Needs to back that effort up. Fifth of six at Nottingham (1m, heavy) was a lot better, just over 1l behind Tokyo Bay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (150/1 -88%) Laughing Lord |
150/1(-88%) | (4) Laughing Lord 150/1, Foaled April 1. €16,000 yearling, Waldgeist gelding. Closely related to 9f winner Theophilos. Dam unraced out of useful 10.3f winner Miss Jean Brodie. Little immediate appeal on paper. 16,000euros yearling, by Waldgeist; has been gelded and had wind surgery. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Mr Hampstead, a full-brother to Irish Oaks winner Savethelastdance, and Meydaan, a son of Frankel out of a Group 1-winning mare, both make plenty of appeal on paper ahead of their introductions. However, the experience gained by ASSAILANT when third on debut at York may give John and Thady Gosden's colt the edge. Tokyo Bay is another open to improvement following his second at Nottingham.
ASSAILANT sets the standard on the basis of his York third, though newcomers Mr Hampstead and Meydaan possess glittering pedigrees and could well prove above average newcomers. Tokyo Bay also showed plenty to like on his first start and can't be ruled out in an intriguing contest.
Tokyo Bay and ASSAILANT caught the eye first time out. Mr Hampstead and Meydaan are two newcomers to note.

1st (2) (3/1 -20%) Aqwaam |
3/1(-20%) | (2) Aqwaam 3/1, 6/4, career best when easily winning 6-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (14f) 10 days ago. He remains relatively unexposed on all-weather and should go very close under a 5 lb penalty. Clearcut win at Chelmsford (1m6f) ten days ago and he's respected under a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (12/1 -20%) Animato |
12/1(-20%) | (5) Animato 12/1, 4/1 and visored for 1st time, bit below form third of 6 in handicap at Catterick (12.1f, heavy) 17 days ago, beaten when hanging left under 2f out. Significantly back up in trip. Makes all-weather debut. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Had an excuse on heavy latest and is still unexposed at 2m but others are more persuasive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (14/1 -75%) Valley Of Flowers |
14/1(-75%) | (9) Valley Of Flowers 14/1, C&D winner in October. 4 wins from 13 runs this year. Creditable sixth of 11 in handicap (7/2) at this course (12.4f) 18 days ago, travelling throughout the contest as though still in good nick. Significantly back up in trip. Won three in a row in the autumn but she's been vulnerable in last two runs; work to do. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/2 +45%) Pons Aelius |
11/2(+45%) | (4) Pons Aelius 11/2, Latest win at Goodwood in June. 20/1, failed to get home faced with an extreme test when sixth of 9 in handicap at Chester (18.6f, heavy) just under 7 weeks ago. Drops back in grade after a short break but he needs to bounce back near best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (17/2 -6%) Sarsons Risk |
17/2(-6%) | (3) Sarsons Risk 17/2, Third of 5 in handicap hurdle (11/8) at Uttoxeter (15.8f, good to soft) 6 months ago, failing to see his race out here under a typically attacking ride. Fairly useful on Flat, down the field in Heritage handicap at Newmarket on last outing. Interesting. Disappointing under both codes last twice and has some questions to answer on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (7/4 +42%) Haaland |
7/4(+42%) | (8) Haaland 7/4, 6/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at this C&D 4 weeks ago, suited by increase in trip. Enters calculations raised 7 lb. Made it 3-8 on AW when surging 6l clear over C&D last time; big player again up 7lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (12/1 -50%) Balhambar |
12/1(-50%) | (1) Balhambar 12/1, 5/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, shaped with encouragement on first outing since leaving Sir Michael Stoute (35,000 gns) after 5 months off when fifth of 11 in handicap at Kempton (12f) 16 days ago. Significantly up in trip. One to consider. Lightly raced 4yo who still has potential and looks interesting at this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (28/1 -40%) Mukha Magic |
28/1(-40%) | (7) Mukha Magic 28/1, 66/1, ran poorly back in his usual headgear when last of 9 in handicap at Pontefract (18f, good to soft) 39 days ago. Best watched at present. 11-time winner but he's been generally disappointing since his last success in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (25/1 -150%) Ebony Maw |
25/1(-150%) | (10) Ebony Maw 25/1, 16/1, won 11-runner handicap at Catterick (15.9f, heavy) 17 days ago, always holding on. 3 lb higher but others more persuasive faced with contrasting conditions. Resurgent 6yo but this is a big step back up in grade and others look stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (40/1 -186%) Award Dancer |
40/1(-186%) | (6) Award Dancer 40/1, Course winner. Latest win at Redcar in October. 5/2, shaped as if amiss when last of 11 in handicap at this course (12.4f) 18 days ago, finding nothing. Significantly up in trip. Won over 1m6f at Redcar last month but he flopped back here last time; risks attached. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
AQWAAM justified strong support in the market when winning with ease at Chelmsford recently and a 5lb penalty may not be enough to prevent Ian Williams' gelding from completing a quick-fire double. Haaland is clearly heading in the right direction after landing the spoils in some style over C&D last month and the three-year-old isn't taken lightly off 7lb higher in the ratings. Top-weight Balhambar may fare best of the remaining protagonists.
This can go the way of the penalised AQWAAM, who produced a career best when easily winning at Chelmsford 10 days ago and Ian Williams' 5-y-o remains relatively unexposed on a synthetic surface. Second choice is sole 3-y-o Haaland, who relished a further step up in trip when scoring over C&D 4 weeks ago, with Balhambar and Animato taken to battle out minor honours.
3yo HAALAND really kicked on again with his emphatic win over C&D last month and he gets the vote ahead of Aqwaam.

4/1(-14%) | (2) Bergerac 4/1, Second of 9 in handicap at this C&D (14/1) 7 days ago, faring best of those ridden prominently. Remains well treated and he has to be high on the shortlist. Turned things around with a close call over C&D last week; big player off same mark. |

2nd (4) (11/2 +8%) Dickieburd |
11/2(+8%) | (4) Dickieburd 11/2, Career best when winning 10-runner handicap at this course (6f, 8/1) 7 days ago. More on his plate under a penalty in this tougher race. Resumed his progress when making all over 6f here last week; respected under penalty. |

17/2(+39%) | (9) Digital 17/2, Latest win at Kempton in October. Bit below form seventh of 12 in handicap (6/4) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 15 days ago. Others more persuasive. Won a claimer last month but he faded back in a handicap last time; others preferred. |

4th (10) (13/2 +19%) Treacherous |
13/2(+19%) | (10) Treacherous 13/2, Course winner. 17/2, good neck third of 9 to Strong Johnson in handicap at this C&D 10 days ago. Can make his presence felt once again. Close up in his last three runs including over C&D latest; in the thick of things again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (12/1 -50%) Pockley |
12/1(-50%) | (7) Pockley 12/1, Unreliable sort. 3-time C&D winner. Career best when winning 9-runner handicap at this C&D (6/1) 10 days ago, just holding on. Doesn't appeal as an obvious type to follow up. Recorded his sixth course win when scoring over C&D ten days ago; respected under penalty. |

6th (6) (3/1 +50%) Brooklyn Nine Nine |
3/1(+50%) | (6) Brooklyn Nine Nine 3/1, Course winner. Creditable fourth of 17 in handicap at York (5f, good, 16/1) 68 days ago, left poorly placed. Of strong interest off the same mark here on the back of that eye-catching effort. Lightly raced 3yo who was an eyecatcher in a big field at York (5f) last time; dangerous. |

9th (3) (16/1 -33%) Venturous |

Would be a danger to all off this mark if on a going day. Smart in his prime but last win was 20 months ago and he's been on the downgrade this year. |

10th (8) (14/1 -40%) Princess Karine |

11th (5) (28/1 -133%) Be Proud |
28/1(-133%) | (5) Be Proud 28/1, Five-time C&D winner. 3 wins from 12 runs this year. Latest win at Ayr in October. 12/1, ninth of 10 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, heavy) 20 days ago. Back down in trip and it wouldn't be the biggest of surprises were he to bounce back with a bold show. Three wins in 2023 but he's not easy to predict and was tailed off latest; risks attached. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BERGERAC posted his best effort of the year after being collared in the shadows of the post and finishing second over C&D last Friday. The five-year-old may take plenty of beating if running to a similar level on this quick turnaround, with the drop in class a big positive too. Dickieburd opened his account on the all-weather at the same meeting as the selection, but a 6lb penalty may leave Craig Lidster's inmate vulnerable, with penalised winner Strong Johnson feared most.
Less exposed than the majority of these, BROOKLYN NINE NINE makes plenty of appeal on the back of an eye-catching fourth of 17 in a Class 3 handicap at York where he shaped much better than the bare result. This stiffer 5f will be more suitable for Richard Fahey's charge. Bergerac returned to form when runner-up over C&D last time and is next on the list ahead of Venturous. There wasn't much between Strong Johnson and Treacherous here recently and they should both be in the mix once again.
The vote goes to BERGERAC, who turned things around with a near-miss over C&D last week and is a big player if he can repeat that form.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Debut winner INVOLVEMENT was quite taking in a Redcar maiden in September and the Lope De Vega colt could be capable of shouldering a 7lb penalty in this contest, despite there being some potentially useful recruits on show. Newcomer El Zoud, half-brother to French Group 3 winner Tantheem, warrants close inspection in the market for John and Thady Gosden, while fellow debutants Power Shot and Minstrel Knight cannot be ruled out either.
INVOLVEMENT looked one to follow as he impressively won a Redcar maiden first time up 7 weeks ago and can make it 2-2 now switched to AW. El Zoud and Power Shot head up the newcomers.
The Crisfords' INVOLVEMENT made an impressive start at Redcar in September and sets a useful standard under a penalty.

9th (5) (150/1 -200%) Tommy's Promise |
150/1(-200%) | (5) Tommy's Promise 150/1, Not beaten another rival in a couple of Ayr events. Big prices and he's finished tailed off in two novice events at Ayr (1m) this autumn. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
WELCOME DREAM has the experience edge over many of these rivals and this looks a good opportunity to shed the maiden tag at the fourth time of asking. Kevin Ryan's runner was only just touched off over 6f at Carlisle last time and he shaped as if this extra yardage would suit. Ten Dimes, a well-bred daughter of No Nay Never, is feared most for powerful connections, while similar comments apply to Roger Varian's newcomer Indalo.
TEN DIMES makes tons of appeal on paper and gets the vote before market clues. The improving Welcome Dream is a big player returning from a break with this trip sure to suit him. Indalo is another newcomer to note.
Welcome Dream is respected but the vote goes to the Gosdens' striking newcomer TEN DIMES, who cost 600,000gns as a yearling.

3rd (6) (14/1 -40%) Polly The Rocket |
14/1(-40%) | (6) Polly The Rocket 14/1, Improved third on 6f course nursery debut but failed to back it up when only sixth at Wolverhampton (7f) since. Has shown some promise but was well below form last time and others are more convincing. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (9/1 -50%) Goldmine Girl |
9/1(-50%) | (8) Goldmine Girl 9/1, Modest form. Good fifth of 12 in C&D nursery 31 days ago. Ought to be competitive. Made bold bid when close fifth over C&D latest and he's respected off unchanged mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (11/2 -120%) Upper Hand |
11/2(-120%) | (3) Upper Hand 11/2, Second on 7f Yarmouth nursery debut and seemed unsuited by drop to 6f when below-form third at Chelmsford 15 days ago. Can fare better back at 7f. Looks interesting on his second at Yarmouth and he could kick on again back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (33/1 -106%) Mehigburn |
33/1(-106%) | (7) Mehigburn 33/1, Ninth of 10 in nursery at this course (5f, 12/1) 14 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Seven-race maiden who has yet to be placed and needs a transformation at this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (40/1 -150%) Yeulan |
40/1(-150%) | (9) Yeulan 40/1, Poor form. 40/1, eighth of 12 in nursery at this C&D 31 days ago. Cheekpieces on first time. Must improve. Well held at big prices in all five runs and latest was in a C&D nursery; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (12/1 +14%) Balmanzor |
12/1(+14%) | (11) Balmanzor 12/1, Poor form. 12/1, ninth of 10 in nursery at Wolverhampton (7f) 22 days ago. Cheekpieces on first time. Others more persuasive. Beaten 9l in his last two nurseries (7f) and he needs to get back on track; headgear added. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A typically competitive contest with the tentative selection being UPPER HAND, who ran on takingly over 6f at Chelmsford and the step back up in trip can see him to better effect. John Butler's colt was guilty of running too freely on that occasion which suggests that performance can be marked up and he'll go close with a more polished effort. Goldmine Girl was only beaten a length over C&D last time and she can have a say having escaped a rise in the ratings, while Fariha is also respected on nursery debut.
The return to 7f promises to suit UPPER HAND, although a strong market move for William Haggas handicap newcomer Fariha would put a slightly different slant on things. Mulciber is another Newmarket-trained nursery newcomer to keep a close eye on in the betting, while Hand Jive failed to improve on his nursery debut but has a pedigree which suggests he may do better at some point.
It might be worth siding with GOLDMINE GIRL who made a bold bid over C&D last time and that was behind a progressive subsequent winner.

9/2(+25%) | (3) The Liegeman 9/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Fourth of 7 in C&D novice 35 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Potential improver. Gelded following latest run and he moves into handicaps with untapped potential. |

8/1(+43%) | (10) Lotting's Lass 8/1, Winner at Southwell in September. 11/1, creditable fifth of 11 in C&D nursery 28 days ago. On the up in recent starts; she should remain competitive under suitable conditions. |

Interesting on handicap debut, particularly if the betting vibes are strong. Looks a likely big improver now handicapping at a low level in a new tongue tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (40/1 -567%) Pinpoint |
40/1(-567%) | (8) Pinpoint 40/1, Creditable second of 10 in nursery (5/2) at Wolverhampton (5f) 45 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Richard Hannon. Placed all 4 runs following Bath win in August (5f); sold 14,000gns last month; needs more. |

12/1(-71%) | (9) Torvar 12/1, 5/1 and cheekpieces on first time, creditable third of 10 in nursery over C&D 14 days ago. Can make presence felt. Placed twice at this track but he'll need a career best if he's to make it 11th time lucky. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (50/1 -100%) Miss Rainstorm |
50/1(-100%) | (12) Miss Rainstorm 50/1, Poor form. Ninth of 12 in nursery at this course (6f, 18/1) 67 days ago. No improvement for the switch to nurseries as yet; others have much stronger claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (2) (50/1 -213%) Desert Master |
50/1(-213%) | (2) Desert Master 50/1, First run since leaving James Tate when seventh of 9 in nursery (50/1) at Wolverhampton (5f) 24 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Exposed maiden; drops in class on second stable start but others are more appealing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Mart was a game winner over 6f at Lingfield last time and he is likely to be on the scene once more, but, having been raised 2lb in the ratings for that head success, he may be susceptible to rivals who are better treated, such as TORVAR. David O'Meara's charge has been given a chance by the handicapper after being beaten just two lengths over C&D last time and a repeat of that effort would see him get his head in front, while Pinpoint completes the shortlist.
WICHAHPI has done well in nurseries and the speed she shows suggests this drop back to 5f could suit if anything. Mart struck at just the second time of asking for new trainer Dylan Cunha at Lingfield last month and is second choice. Torvar is another who should make his presence felt, while Gloves and The Liegeman are a couple of potential improvers now handicapping.
Wichahpi can make a bold bid up the rail but GLOVES looks a likely big improver now her attentions are turned to nurseries.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
