9/2(+10%) | (9) Lochnaver 9/2, 14/1, travelled as if well up to defying this sort of mark when second of 11 in handicap at this course (12.4f) 4 days ago, headed close home. One to be interested in given her current form. Went close over 12.4f here on Wednesday & this shorter trip is worth another go; respected. |

5/1(-67%) | (6) Oscar Doodle 5/1, C&D winner. 3 wins from 11 runs this year, latest at Chelmsford City in August. 11/2, proved better than ever when second of 12 in handicap at this C&D just under 7 weeks ago. Should go well again. Runner-up over C&D the last twice and this consistent sort is on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (9/2 -29%) Jewel Maker |
9/2(-29%) | (2) Jewel Maker 9/2, 9/2, won 11-runner handicap at this C&D 12 days ago, moving through the race notably well. Still on a good mark having been reassessed (just 2 lb higher) but isn't sure to be in the same form. Prevailed in tight finish over C&D 12 days ago and he's just 2lb higher today; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (12/1 +14%) Great Colaci |
12/1(+14%) | (8) Great Colaci 12/1, 8-time course winner, latest in September. Run best excused when ninth of 11 in handicap at this course (12.4f, 8/1) 4 days ago, short of room from 2f out. Folly to discount given his record here. Eight-time course winner who is not written off, but he has a patchy profile. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (6/1 +0%) Dancing Gypsy |
6/1(+0%) | (3) Dancing Gypsy 6/1, Ran creditably on first outing since leaving John O'Shea after 4 months off when third of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 9/2) 6 days ago, reportedly losing a shoe. Not one to write off with that outing under his belt. Third on recent stable debut at Wolverhampton and could have more to offer for this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (28/1 -12%) Hot Team |
28/1(-12%) | (10) Hot Team 28/1, C&D winner. Followed a below-par effort with an even worse one when seventh of 10 in handicap (40/1) at this course (12.4f) 17 days ago. Needs to bounce back. C&D winner who has often run well this year, but he's been down the field the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (10/1 +38%) Fifty Sent |
10/1(+38%) | (5) Fifty Sent 10/1, C&D winner. Ran poorly without an obvious excuse when eighth of 14 in handicap (7/1) at Ayr (8f, heavy) 38 days ago. Back up in trip. Now 2lb lower than for C&D win in May; something to prove on more recent evidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (25/1 -108%) Freddy Robinson |
25/1(-108%) | (4) Freddy Robinson 25/1, Again ran well back in a handicap when third of 13 in juvenile hurdle at Musselburgh (17.4f, good to soft, 20/1) 8 months ago. Up in trip. Fair on the Flat, creditable on last run 12 months ago. Worth a second look. Has done well over hurdles and could have untapped potential at this Flat trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) (66/1 -450%) Persian Wolf |
66/1(-450%) | (11) Persian Wolf 66/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. Fifth of 7 in handicap (13/2) at Yarmouth (11.5f, good to firm), not ideally placed. Off 5 months, First run for yard after leaving Phil McEntee. Must improve. Has a poor strike-rate but the AW suits and he's not ruled out each-way on stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
OSCAR DOODLE has been a model of consistency over the past few months and the four-year-old, who went close once again over C&D last time, gets the vote to go one better. Jewel Maker scored here earlier in the month and has to be respected off just 2lb higher. Dancing Gypsy, Lochnaver and Freddy Robinson are others capable of a decent showing.
Having travelled as if well up to defying this sort of mark when runner-up on Wednesday, LOCHNAVER gets the nod to go one better at the expense of Dancing Gypsy, who shaped encouragingly on his first outing for a new yard returning from 4 months off at Wolverhampton earlier this week and could well build on that effort. Oscar Doodle and recent C&D winner Jewel Maker can fight out minor honours.
The admirably consistent OSCAR DOODLE has gone close over C&D the last twice and can go one better. Freddy Robinson is a danger.

1st (2) (6/4 +0%) Lautrec |
6/4(+0%) | (2) Lautrec 6/4, Foaled January 31. 600,000 gns yearling, Kingman colt. Closely related to 5f-7f winner Invincible Ryker and 2000 Guineas winner Magna Grecia and half-brother to top-class dual-Classic winner St Mark's Basilica. Dam 2-y-o 7f winner. Regal pedigree and he merits plenty of respect. Kingman colt; closely related to 2,000 Guineas winner Magna Grecia; interesting newcomer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (14/1 -133%) Samphire Green |
14/1(-133%) | (3) Samphire Green 14/1, Foaled April 3. €22,000 foal, €82,000 yearling, Zoustar colt. Half-brother to smart sprinter Marshman. Dam 9f winner out of useful 2-y-o 6f winner Dhanyata. Not without hope on paper but this looks like a potentially hot contest to make debut in. Zoustar colt; yard can ready them so this debutant is worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (Evens +33%) Temple City |
Evens(+33%) | (4) Temple City Evens, Kingman half-brother to smart 11f-13.3f winner Outbox and very smart winner up to 1¼m Royal Champion. 7/1, green but showed plenty of ability when third of 12 in minor event at Newmarket (8f, good to soft) on debut 25 days ago. Sets the standard. Promising start when third at Newmarket; this Kingman colt can take a step forward now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (8/1 -45%) Bur Dubai |
8/1(-45%) | (1) Bur Dubai 8/1, Night of Thunder colt. Encouraging start when close third of 8 in maiden (6/1) at Chelmsford City (8f) on debut 15 days ago. Should have more to offer. Shaped well when debut Chelmsford third; seems sure to build on it so needs considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (150/1 -200%) Triple Force |
150/1(-200%) | (5) Triple Force 150/1, Land Force gelding. Improved from debut when , sixth of 12 in minor event at this course (7.1f) 5 days ago but has his work cut out against this opposition. Sixth in 7f novice here five days ago; he can do better upped to 1m but needs to on form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
John and Thady Gosden are no strangers to running their better prospects here as juveniles and LAUTREC makes plenty of appeal on paper. A 600,000gns purchase at Tattersalls Book 1, the half-brother to Classic heroes St Mark's Basilica and Magna Grecia gets the vote to make a winning start to his career. Temple City is expected to have benefited from his debut experience at Newmarket, while Bur Dubai completes the shortlist based on his third at Chelmsford.
TEMPLE CITY is a well-bred colt and he showed plenty to be positive about when third at Newmarket on debut, so is fancied to get off the mark at the second attempt, though the Gosden newcomer Lautrec, who could barely possess a stronger pedigree, could prove a real fly in the ointment. Bur Dubai also looked a nice prospect when a close third at Chelmsford on debut and adds further substance to a decent field.
John and Thady Gosden's Kingman newcomer LAUTREC has much to recommend him on pedigree and is taken to go in at the first time of asking

First run for yard after leaving Peter Chapple-Hyam and joined yard with excellent record with new recruits. 7f turf winner; first run on Tapeta and for this trainer after 2lb drop; each-way player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/3 +52%) Berry Clever |
10/3(+52%) | (5) Berry Clever 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden. 9/2, good fifth of 9 in nursery at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 5 days ago, never nearer having been hampered. Mark looks high but step up in trip promises to unlock more. Further step up in trip may help him begin to improve but he has that to prove.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (9/2 -100%) Likeashadow |
9/2(-100%) | (6) Likeashadow 9/2, Career best when winning 9-runner nursery at this C&D (11/8) 16 days ago, staying on well. Has to be taken very seriously in hat-trick bid from 5 lb higher. Latest win here (front pair 5l clear) suggests he is well treated for this hat-trick bid.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (11/2 -83%) Made In China |
11/2(-83%) | (3) Made In China 11/2, Sent off even-money but could manage only fourth of 7 in nursery at Chelmsford City (10f) 36 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Drops back again in trip and from the same mark needs to pull out more to break his duck.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (6/1 +50%) Glistening Nights |
6/1(+50%) | (2) Glistening Nights 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1, ninth of 10 in nursery at York (7.9f, soft) 36 days ago. That was a backward step but he's in good hands and now switches to the AW. Drops 2lb for AW debut and needs improvement to have a serious chance.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 -71%) Fly Pass |
12/1(-71%) | (4) Fly Pass 12/1, 33/1, good third of 7 in nursery at Lingfield (8f, AW) 12 days ago. That was her first try over 1m and she can given it another good go. Marginal career-best latest; mark remains unaltered and she should again be thereabouts.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (28/1 -300%) Sayalittleprayer |
28/1(-300%) | (7) Sayalittleprayer 28/1, Fifth of 9 in novice event (20/1) at Newmarket (7f, good to soft) 25 days ago. Makes handicap debut for successful yard. Step back in the right direction latest but initial mark looks to be on the stiff side.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LIKEASHADOW has been a revelation since being ridden with a lot more restraint, winning his last two starts here, and Alan Brown's gelding could have more to offer, despite a 5lb rise for the latest success. Fly Pass ran on well to finish third at Lingfield and is open to improvement over this distance, while a more positive ride may benefit Made In China.
LIKEASHDOW arrives here on a roll, winning a brace a of course handicaps, latterly when pulling clear with an unexposed one a fortnight ago. A 5 lb rise is unlikely to prevent a very bold hat-trick bid, with Alfred and Fly Pass feared most.
The manner of LIKEASHADOW (nap)'s C&D success suggests that he can defy a 5lb rise and complete a hat-trick.

7th (7) (200/1 -506%) Our Neil |
200/1(-506%) | (7) Our Neil 200/1, Shaped better than first time up when fourth of 9 in maiden (16/1) at this C&D 19 days ago, challenging 2f out before no extra. Plenty more required in this contest, though. Improved on a moderate debut when tried over C&D latest but will need much more than that.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Neapolitan may have been turned over at odds-on at Chelmsford, but he went down fighting and might be happier back at 6f. However, the vote is for LOU LOU'S GIFT. The half-sister to the classy Mighty Ulysses confirmed the promise of her Yarmouth debut third when going one better here and she can continue her forward momentum. Front Gunner caught the eye on his introduction and he is another to consider.
LOU LOU'S GIFT progressed from her debut when runner-up at this C&D 17 days ago, despite still looking in need of the experience, so she can do better still with a hood/tongue strap now applied. William Haggas' filly is taken to see off the challenge of Neapolitan, who also improved in defeat last time, with Callianassa completing the shortlist.
Given the promise she's shown and in the hope that headgear helps her to settle, LOU LOU'S GIFT is the suggestion.

18/1(-13%) | (3) Miss Britain 18/1, Eyeshields on/blinkered for 1st time, fifth of 8 in handicap at this course (7.1f, 40/1) 17 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Not ruled out. Back on a handy mark and she showed signs of a revival last time, so not written off.. |

12th (11) (25/1 -79%) My Boy Jack |
25/1(-79%) | (11) My Boy Jack 25/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in October. 14/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 13 days ago. Must improve. 6f Tapeta winner; need to put a line through latest effort if considering supporting him.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Bella Kopella dug deep to prevail over 7f here and the drop in trip shouldn't be a problem, while Rainbow Rain's hat-trick bid may have ended in failure over C&D but he must not be written off yet. The same can be said for EL HIBRI, who has let favourite backers down the last twice but fluffed the start and got blocked for a run at Chelmsford, so is worth one more chance.
C&D scorer LADY CELIA didn't enjoy the rub of the green when sixth here last time so is fancied to quickly regain winning ways off an unchanged mark. Rainbow Rain is weighted to have a big say and next on the list, with Athollblair Boy and El Hibri also in the mix in an open handicap.
A standing dish here, ATHOLLBLAIR BOY has returned to his last winning mark and may be able to record a tenth course success.

TOP GUN TINA posted arguably her best effort to date when runner-up over a mile here latest and the return to 7f looks ideal. David Thompson's inmate is fancied to get the better of last-time-out C&D winner Keep Me Stable, who is aiming to defy a 5lb penalty on this quick turnaround. Fellow in-form rivals Possible Ambition and Key Look are others to consider.
TOP GUN TINA was having only her second handicap start when an improved second over 1m here last time and is taken to build on that promise and can strike under Billy Loughnane. Recent C&D scorer Key Look retains handicapping scope after a 4 lb rise and is second choice ahead of Possible Ambition, who is more consistent than most at this level.
Preference is for KEY LOOK who got back to winning ways over C&D when back with Geoff Harker and remains handily weighted.

Last month's Ayr winner BANNER ROAD has proved a progressive sort on the Flat under the tutelage of Jim Goldie this season and a change of scenery may bring about enough improvement to defy an 8lb rise in the ratings. Whatwouldyouknow posted one of his better efforts when runner-up over C&D recently and should give another bold account. Clotherholme completes the shortlist.
BANNER ROAD signed off for Jim Goldie with a comfortable success at Ayr and she's fancied to make a winning start for her new yard at the possible expense of Concert Boy, who is visored for the first time. Whatwouldyouknow should also be on the premises.
Nigel Tinkler's dual C&D scorer WHATWOULDYOUKNOW signalled he's ready to strike again when runner-up here last time out.
