15:35 Newcastle Handicap (Class 5) 16f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

WEDDELL SEA is unexposed on the all-weather and, having registered a solid second when tried over this C&D last month, there could be plenty more to come from the six-year-old. Similar comments apply to Bulldog Spirit, who reverts to Tapeta after a surprise defeat in a seller at Musselburgh a fortnight ago. This longer trip should see him in a better light. Previous C&D winner Unique Spirit completes the shortlist.

A few with chances but David O'Meara's UNIQUE SPIRIT comes here at the top of his game and is taken to quickly resume winning ways on the back of an excellent C&D second. Fellow C&D scorer Zephlyn is feared most returned to this sphere, with Flying Scotsman and Catalan King also well in the mix.

Attractively treated FLYING SCOTSMAN is taken to record a first win since joining Ben Haslam. Unique Spirit is second choice.

16:10 Newcastle Handicap (Class 5) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Versatile regarding the trip, ANNANDALE is a notable contender on these terms and could make the most of receiving weight all round. A comfortable winner over 1m5f at Ayr 18 days ago, the selection turns out quickly off just 5lb higher and remains well treated. Laudable and Molinari can make this a good test for the selection, with the former feared most after his recent second-placed C&D finish.

A case can be made for all of these but Jim Goldie's ANNANDALE scored in taking style at Ayr last time and remains well threated on past form despite taking a 5 lb rise here. Princess Niyla heads the list of dangers on the back of her good recent C&D second, with Laudable, Molinari and Sharp Distinction also firmly in the picture.

Having split subsequent scorers here two weeks ago, LAUDABLE (nap) holds very strong claims. Sharp Distinction is second choice.

16:40 Newcastle Stakes (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

KISDON FORCE sets a decent standard based on his near miss behind a 78-rated opponent over this course and distance 10 days ago. Having run to a similar level on his belated racecourse debut only eight days previously, Grant Tuer's gelding can make up for lost time and strike at the third time of asking. Space Trooper looks the most obvious threat to the selection based on potential for improvement, while Rajawail makes some appeal too.

Grant Tuer's Land Force gelding KISDON FORCE has gone with promise on both his runs to date and looks to have been found an excellent opportunity to go one better than his excellent recent C&D second. Space Trooper appeals as the one to chase him home ahead of Rajawail.

A straightforward race to assess, with KISDON FORCE the form choice and Space Trooper easily the biggest danger.

17:15 Newcastle Handicap (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MAISSARA produced a similar level of form in her three qualifying runs but the daughter of Frankel, a half-sister to the same connections' Markakol, might have been underestimated by an opening mark of 73. Roger Varian's filly is preferred to Fallen Soldier, who could find more for the addition of first-time cheekpieces, having finished a creditable second at Thirsk last month. Others to note include Arabian Cobra and Chuti Manika.

MAISSARA has progressed quietly in her qualifying runs but this well-bred filly surely has more to offer for her top stable now contesting a nursery. She gets the vote in favour of Chuti Manika and Impartiality, both of whom are expected to benefit from the drop to 6f.

The one runner who could prove a class apart is Frankel filly and Newmarket raider MAISSARA. Second choice is Fallen Soldier.

17:45 Newcastle Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Being drawn high looks a real positive for Ayr scorer WATER OF LEITH, and Jim Goldie's six-year-old is fancied to repeat the dose off a 4lb raised mark. Brian The Snail proved he retains plenty of enthusiasm when successful at Thirsk in July and although not as good since then, a return to the all-weather could spark an improved performance. Herakles is another to consider.

A stiff 5f looks just the ticket for DANDY DINMONT so he's worth risking at likely rewarding odds. Love Wars eases in class so he's dangerous, with last-time-out winner Water of Leith likely to give it another good go.

Off an attractive mark and with Silvestre De Sousa doing the steering, NELSON GAY is preferred. Love Wars is second choice.

18:15 Newcastle Handicap (Class 5) 5f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Spirit Of Applause was collared late on at Southwell last time out and the in-form gelding merits plenty of respect, but preference is for ZUFFOLO. Michael Dods' charge was raised 3lb in the handicap for winning at Redcar last month, but he's still 2lb lower than when defeating Leodis Dream over C&D in November last year and further success may well be on the cards.

An open-looking sprint and it could be worth chancing GUSTAV GRAVES, who shaped well despite being easy to back when third at Wolverhampton last week and Derek Shaw's 6-y-o is well drawn to attack. Spirit of Applause, Leodis Dream and Zuffolo look the main dangers in that order.

The suggestion is GANESHA who returns to Newcastle off a very handy mark. Spirit Of Applause is second choice.

18:45 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

TOMORROW DAY gained a first career success over C&D on his penultimate start before finishing third at Brighton subsequently, and the return to the all-weather can spark a return to winning ways. Oriental Prince wasn't disgraced at Carlisle on handicap debut and improvement may be forthcoming back on a flatter track, while the change of headgear to a visor might aid the cause of Havana Sky.

Not a strong handicap and HAVANA SKY looks to have the most solid claims on the back of a run of good efforts. Arc Tesoro is interesting on his handicap debut, while market support for Toosha would need taking seriously.

With the visor retained, TOMORROW DAY looks a particularly solid contender. Badosa, the other C&D winner, is second choice.

19:15 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

All barring one of Pop Favorite's seven victories have come over C&D and the six-year-old arrives in fine fettle after succeeding here earlier in the month. That said, a 5lb higher mark makes life tougher and a chance is taken on RUBELLITE. She has taken a step back in the right direction with recent placed efforts and she is more than capable of a second career win. Others for the shortlist include Volenti and Filey Beach.

POP FAVORITE came from rear to score for the sixth time over C&D earlier this month and can follow up at the chief expense of Rubellite, who caught the eye from a disadvantageous position at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago. Volenti is narrowly preferred to Filey Beach for third.

This might go to VOLENTI, who has posted two good efforts over 1m2f here for his new stable and could be seen to better effect over 1m.

19:45 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Odd Socks Havana was in great form on the all-weather earlier in the year, winning twice here in April, and would have strong claims if ready to roll on his first appearance since June. Spartan Fighter won here in an apprentice contest over 6f on Tuesday and is a major player off an unchanged mark. However, YAAHOBBY is 1lb lower than his C&D fourth on the same card and that performance suggests he may still have some mileage in his current rating.

SPARTAN FIGHTER added to his fine record here last week and Antony Brittain's gelding makes plenty of appeal bidding to follow up. Windsor Pass didn't immediately build on a promising effort here at Kempton last time but can't be written off, with Jkr Cobbler completing the shortlist.

In an open-looking contest preference is for YAAHOBBY who has won twice over C&D this autumn. The main danger is Spartan Fighter.
