1st (1) (4/1 -129%) Three Platoon |
4/1(-129%) | (1) Three Platoon 4/1, Snapped a long losing run over C&D last Tuesday and a 5 lb penalty won't prevent another bold bid if showing up in similar form. Carries a 5lb penalty for last week's C&D win; Menzies/Fraser link-up is a success story.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (8/1 +11%) Volenti |
8/1(+11%) | (10) Volenti 8/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 28/1, good third of 10 over C&D 14 days ago. Merits consideration. Better on second start for B Haslam when a weakening third over C&D (28-1) a fortnight ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 +67%) Meade Gold |
4/1(+67%) | (4) Meade Gold 4/1, Sixth of 8 in handicap at this course (1m) 14 days ago. Back up in trip. Less exposed than a lot of these but not obviously a winner in waiting. Seven-race maiden; underwhelming between 1m-1m4f since switched to handicap company.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (16/1 -33%) Duchess |
16/1(-33%) | (9) Duchess 16/1, Winner at Yarmouth (1m) in May but more miss than hit since. Hasn't kicked on since winning at Yarmouth (1m) in May; 0-5 AW; goes well for A. Farragher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5/1 +0%) Violeta |
5/1(+0%) | (3) Violeta 5/1, Finally off the mark when seeing off 8 rivals over C&D 14 days ago. Should remain very competitive after only a 2 lb nudge. Off the mark over C&D a fortnight ago, beating Carlton and Wheres The Crumpet; 2lb higher.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (9/2 +44%) Carlton |
9/2(+44%) | (7) Carlton 9/2, Just 1-21 but the win did come here. Creditable 4 lengths third of 9 to Violeta over C&D 14 days ago. Likely to be in the shake-up. Infrequent winner (1-22); no match for Violeta over C&D a fortnight ago; place claims.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (9/1 +25%) Uwaittillplaytime |
9/1(+25%) | (12) Uwaittillplaytime 9/1, Modest maiden. 5/1, fourth of 7 in handicap at Musselburgh (1m, good to firm) 16 days ago. Up in trip. Makes tapeta debut. 0-8; didn't appear the easiest to handle when only fourth of seven at Musselburgh latest.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (22/1 -175%) Blazer Two |
22/1(-175%) | (6) Blazer Two 22/1, Both wins at Leicester. Respectable fifth on Catterick reappearance in May but off again since. First-time blinkers replace cheekpieces. Placed first two starts for L Russell last summer but seldom seen since; blinkers go on.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (16/1 -78%) Mr Strutter |
16/1(-78%) | (2) Mr Strutter 16/1, Course winner. Creditable third of 8 in handicap (7/2) at Catterick (7f, good to soft) 21 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Consistent over 7f-1m1f lately and worth another go over 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (14/1 -40%) Wheres The Crumpet |
14/1(-40%) | (8) Wheres The Crumpet 14/1, C&D winner in March. Also successful at Ayr in July. 11/2, respectable 4¼ lengths fourth (Carlton third) of 9 to Violeta over C&D 14 days ago. Knocking on the door here (1m-1m2f) with regularity, including when 4th to Violeta latest.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (80/1 -300%) Dubai Venture |
80/1(-300%) | (5) Dubai Venture 80/1, Modest form in 4 starts for Simon & Ed Crisford. Been off for nearly a year so betting perhaps the best guide on return for new stable. Ex-Crisford; off since last October; first go (a 2,000gns buy) for Tina Jackson. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) (50/1 -25%) Milltown Lily |
50/1(-25%) | (11) Milltown Lily 50/1, Long-standing maiden. 40/1, 5¾ lengths sixth of 9 to Violeta over C&D 14 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Others are preferred. 30-race maiden; work to with Violeta, Carlton and Wheres The Crumpet on recent C&D result. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Three Platoon was a comfortable winner over C&D last Tuesday and although respected under a 5lb penalty, it is VIOLETA that shades preference. Ben Haslam's filly made it 22nd time lucky over track and trick a fortnight ago, but she remains competitively handicapped and could go in again following that confidence boosting triumph. Volenti hit the frame last time out and a similar level of performance can see him make his presence felt.
THREE PLATOON went nearly 3 years without a win but might be able to gain a second C&D victory in quick succession if showing up in the same form as last week. Ben Haslam pair Violeta, another last-time-out C&D winner, and Volenti might give Rebecca Menzies' charge most to do.
Only the recent C&D winners THREE PLATOON and Violeta make much appeal. The selection can overcome carrying a 5lb penalty.

1st (5) (13/8 -8%) Unique Spirit |
13/8(-8%) | (5) Unique Spirit 13/8, Has posted 2 good placed efforts over C&D since fitted with a visor. This might be his day. Two solid efforts visored over C&D recently; 1lb higher and should get involved once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (8/1 -140%) Arcon |
8/1(-140%) | (1) Arcon 8/1, Won an AW claimer at Chantilly last autumn. Best run for new yard when fourth of 10 in handicap (14/1) at Haydock (11.5f, good) 25 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Stable among the winners. Can pull hard, which would be a concern now going beyond 1m4f for the first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 -25%) Gastronomy |
5/1(-25%) | (2) Gastronomy 5/1, Course winner. Latest win at Redcar in July. Another decent effort at Redcar when runner-up last time. Two solid runs for Rhys Elliott round Redcar this summer; needs to settle back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 +27%) Pons Aelius |
4/1(+27%) | (3) Pons Aelius 4/1, Latest win at Beverley in August. Creditable fourth of 11 in handicap (12/1) at Pontefract (17f, good to firm) 12 days ago. Stays well; capable off this mark but whether this will be run to suit a different matter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (10/3 +17%) Sydney Seabreeze |
10/3(+17%) | (4) Sydney Seabreeze 10/3, Fair maiden. 18/1, good fourth of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (2m, AW) 17 days ago. Has first-time cheekpieces added to his hood. Likely to go well. Could yet be capable of better, with cheekpieces added to the hood tonight; considered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Stamina isn't a given for many of these, but that can't be said for PONS AELIUS. The son of Galileo hasn't always been the most consistent this term, but he finished fourth in the Northumberland Vase here in June and a similar level of performance would be good enough to land the spoils. Sydney Seabreeze has few miles on the clock and could find more for the addition of first-time cheekpieces, while Unique Spirit should not be underestimated.
The two 3-y-os may dominate this, with UNIQUE SPIRIT taken to build on a couple of placed efforts over C&D and gain a first success at the expense of Newmarket raider Sydney Seabreeze.
Unique Spirit should go well once more but the vote goes to SYDNEY SEABREEZE, who could yet be capable of better.

1st (4) (11/2 +21%) River Blackwater |
11/2(+21%) | (4) River Blackwater 11/2, won a 6f Southwell nursery last month. Only eighth of 10 at Thirsk (6f, good, 10/1) since but may do better back on tapeta. Sole Tapeta effort a good bit better than any of her five turf efforts; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (20/1 +60%) Mum's Called |
20/1(+60%) | (9) Mum's Called 20/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 150/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, first run since leaving Dominic Ffrench Davis when last of 10 in maiden at Lingfield (7f, AW) 20 days ago. Makes nursery debut. Poor opening effort for her new yard; needs a big step forward now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (22/1 +33%) Layaali |
22/1(+33%) | (11) Layaali 22/1, Poor form. First run since leaving Phillip Makin when 4 lengths tenth of 11 to River Blackwater in nursery at Southwell (6f, 50/1) 28 days ago. Improvement needed. Behind two of these at Southwell early last month; would want to see some support tonight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/4 +21%) Empowered Queen |
11/4(+21%) | (1) Empowered Queen 11/4, Thrice-raced maiden. Eighth of 12 in novice at Windsor (6f, good to firm, 50/1) 29 days ago. Interesting nursery newcomer, particularly if backed. Should be capable of better, especially if she can brush things up at the start; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (25/1 -127%) Stat Goddess |
25/1(-127%) | (10) Stat Goddess 25/1, Respectable 5¼ lengths third of 10 to Indy's Angel in C&D nursery 7 days ago. Has work on to turn the tables. Well-held 3rd behind Indy's Angel over C&D last Tuesday; will do well to turn things round. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (20/1 -100%) Miss Cast |
20/1(-100%) | (6) Miss Cast 20/1, Modest form. Fifth of 8 in nursery at Carlisle (7f, soft, 8/1) 33 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. First-time cheekpieces need to have a positive effect. Didn't look to see out 6.9f on soft last time; ought to fare better in first-time headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (2/1 -23%) Indy's Angel |
2/1(-23%) | (8) Indy's Angel 2/1, Much improved when winning 10-runner C&D nursery last Tuesday, forging 4 lengths clear. A 6 lb penalty doesn't look enough to stop her. Won easily here last Tuesday and is fairly treated under the penalty; has to be respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (12/1 +40%) Cuban Lynx |
12/1(+40%) | (12) Cuban Lynx 12/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 150/1, last of 6 in novice at Redcar (5f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Check the betting. Big prices and well held in three runs; this is more realistic though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (50/1 -317%) Himself |
50/1(-317%) | (2) Himself 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Seventh of 8 in nursery (9/1) at Musselburgh (1m, good) 35 days ago. Back down in trip. Indy's Angel looks the more obvious of the yard's pair. 1m beyond him on nursery debut but hasn't progressed; Indy's Angel his yard's best shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (15/2 -50%) Rose Of New Jersey |
15/2(-50%) | (5) Rose Of New Jersey 15/2, Very good second of 9 in nursery at Thirsk (6f, good, 7/2) 15 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. One to consider. Best effort last time; having Rhys Elliott take off 7lb won't hurt; on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (16/1 -78%) King Of Lir |
16/1(-78%) | (3) King Of Lir 16/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 22/1, sixth of 8 in novice at Chester (6f, heavy) 18 days ago. One to note in the betting now handicapping. From a decent sprinting family and ought to fare better now handicapping at a lowly level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (16/1 +20%) Caledonian Dream |
16/1(+20%) | (7) Caledonian Dream 16/1, Reached the frame in 2 nurseries for Grant Tuer but has left that yard since finishing last of 8 over 1m here 3 weeks ago. Favourite for a 1m nursery here three weeks ago; has since left Grant Tuer; drops in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Indy's Angel bolted up over C&D last time out and she ought to make a good fist of things despite the 6lb penalty, but the vote goes to EMPOWERED QUEEN. Ollie Sangster's juvenile steps into nurseries from a workable mark of 62. Stall 12 is a positive and, given that she is bred to be useful, it would come as no surprise were she to take the necessary step forward. Fellow nursery debutant King Of Lir makes some interest, along with Rose Of New Jersey.
INDY'S ANGEL had plenty to spare over C&D last week and is taken to defy a penalty. Rose of New Jersey ran well for second at Thirsk last time and can fill the runner-up spot again. Empowered Queen and King of Lir are possible improvers now switching to nurseries, particularly if the betting speaks in their favour.
Rose Of New Jersey goes on the shortlist but EMPOWERED QUEEN should be capable of more now she's handicapping at an ordinary level.

1st (6) (10/11 +52%) Alreet Cha |
10/11(+52%) | (6) Alreet Cha 10/11, Fair maiden who would stand a good chance here if she can shrug off a couple of lesser efforts in turf handicaps in recent months. Cheekpieces on first time. The return to Tapeta should suit and first-time headgear may help; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/4 +17%) Pinsent |
11/4(+17%) | (4) Pinsent 11/4, Placed at Redcar (7f) and Carlisle (6f) this summer but not in the same form when 8 lengths fourth of 5 at Wolverhampton last time. Bounce back needed. Hasn't built on his Redcar second, latterly behind Genta at Wolverhampton; has it to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (13/2 -44%) Genta |
13/2(-44%) | (3) Genta 13/2, Modest form both starts, beaten 6 lengths when third of 5 in maiden at Wolverhampton (7f) 26 days ago. Will need to improve to take this; may be in handicaps that he ultimately makes his mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/1 -100%) Chatty |
6/1(-100%) | (5) Chatty 6/1, Fair maiden. 16/1 and blinkered first time, below-form fifth of 8 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good) 8 days ago. Claims if back to near his best. Habitual hard-puller; has had 11 cracks at it now (6f-1m2f) and again looks vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (28/1 -600%) Brividi |
28/1(-600%) | (7) Brividi 28/1, 22/1, fifth of 8 in maiden at Wolverhampton (9.5f) on debut in January. Down in trip. May do better. Not a bad debut but it came eight months ago over 9.5f; market should prove useful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (80/1 -21%) Blue Jay Way |
80/1(-21%) | (2) Blue Jay Way 80/1, Modest maiden. Outsider. Poor maiden who's still to finish placed after 12 starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A maiden through four starts, Pinsent has looked capable on his day but might be one for handicaps down the line, while Brividi wasn't disgraced first time out over further at Wolverhampton. GENTA could be the one, though. Alice Haynes' charge displayed some improvement from his first to second run and has been found a good opening to make it third-time lucky.
If ALREET CHA can get back to anywhere near her best in first-time cheekpieces it might be her day. Chatty is another who needs to shrug off some lesser efforts but his peak form puts him bang there.
It's unlikely ALREET CHA, who ran well over C&D a couple of times early in the year, will be found a better opening.

Thelma's Angel |
(2) (11/4 -10%)11/4(-10%) | (2) Thelma's Angel 11/4, Daughter of Dark Angel who left her debut form well behind when bagging 5-runner maiden at Ayr (6f, good) in May. Off since but should have more to offer. Dam progressed well with time and she has potential back from a five-month absence; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) (2/13 +88%) Minnie Wildes |
2/13(+88%) | (1) Minnie Wildes 2/13, Promising type. 9/1, won 7-runner maiden at Ffos Las (6f, heavy) on debut 48 days ago, soon clear. More to come and good chance she can defy a penalty here. Impressive debut at Ffos Las; has to prove that wasn't down to handling heavy ground best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/2 +78%) Formby |
11/2(+78%) | (4) Formby 11/2, Twice-raced maiden. 33/1, sixth of 13 in maiden at Southwell (6f) 44 days ago, nearest finish. Hooded first time. May do better again. Yard going well and he's one to keep an eye on but maybe more once handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (80/1 -21%) Jannas Journey |
80/1(-21%) | (7) Jannas Journey 80/1, Twice-raced maiden. 50/1, fifth of 8 in novice at Redcar (6f, good to firm) 14 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Well-beaten last of four on debut and fared no better down to this trip last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (16/1 +68%) Miami Hills |
16/1(+68%) | (8) Miami Hills 16/1, Twice-raced maiden. Went backwards from debut when eighth of 12 in maiden (66/1) at Southwell (6f) 4 months later. 66-1 at Southwell a month ago, when well beaten; Formby looks her trainer's best chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (80/1 -60%) Bubbles Up |
80/1(-60%) | (6) Bubbles Up 80/1, 12/1, last of 6 in novice at Musselburgh (5f, good to firm) on debut 16 days ago. Looked a handful at Musselburgh, pulling hard before weakening and finishing tailed off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (33/1 +34%) Cable Beach |
33/1(+34%) | (3) Cable Beach 33/1, Twice-raced maiden. Ninth of 12 in maiden at this course (7f) 14 days ago. More one for handicaps after this. Drops in trip tonight and will probably find things easier once handicapping. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A 270,000gns purchase at the sales, this can go the way of newcomer SECOND NAME, who is bred to be smart being a half-brother to the stable's Mill Reef winner Sakheer. The booking of James Doyle is a positive one and he could have too much for Thelma's Angel, who has not been in action since a comfortable success at Ayr in May. An easy debut scorer at Ffos Las on heavy ground, Minnie Wildes may have been flattered by the winning margin on that occasion and could find this tougher.
MINNIE WILDES was impressive on her Ffos Las debut and has to be considered the one to beat, although a strong market move for Roger Varian newcomer Second Name would put a slightly different slant on things. Thelma's Angel looks best of the rest.
Minnie Wildes and Thelma's Angel have potential but are being asked to concede weight to the well-related SECOND NAME.

1st (1) (13/8 +41%) Indivar |
13/8(+41%) | (1) Indivar 13/8, 6/1, promising run on AW debut when fifth of 14 in handicap at this course (7.1f) 21 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. One to consider down in class. On a competitive mark now, so is one to consider down in class in a first-time tongue-tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (11/2 -57%) Sergeant Mayer |
11/2(-57%) | (6) Sergeant Mayer 11/2, Won at Nottingham in August. Fifth to Blue Force here then good second of 12 in handicap at Beverley (5f, good to soft, 6/1) in first-time cheekpieces 7 days ago, just failing. Enters calculations. May be that he's happier on turf; needs to settle better than in one previous run over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/2 +39%) Blue Force |
11/2(+39%) | (5) Blue Force 11/2, Course winner in September. Eighth of 12 in handicap at Beverley (5f, good to soft, 15/2) 7 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Could do better back on AW. Happier on Tapeta than turf from limited evidence; claims on his 5f win off 3lb lower here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (16/1 -129%) Soul Singer |
16/1(-129%) | (4) Soul Singer 16/1, Didn't need to be at best when winning 6-runner novice (11/2) at Musselburgh (5f, good to firm) 16 days ago. That was his first success at the 13th attempt but he'd previously gone close in handicaps from this sort of mark. Won't mind the return to 6f or Tapeta but has had plenty of chances off similar ratings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (12/1 -20%) She'sashambles |
12/1(-20%) | (8) She'sashambles 12/1, Winner at Thirsk in August. 12/1, good third of 10 in handicap at this C&D 19 days ago. Could be in the hunt again. Added to her consistent profile on Tapeta over C&D last time; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (4/1 -78%) Court Drive |
4/1(-78%) | (2) Court Drive 4/1, 10/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, third of 14 in handicap at this course (5f) 28 days ago, not clear run approaching final 1f. Just as effective over 6f and good claims. Not much luck with one thing and another since handicapping; goes on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (33/1 -65%) Tees Harriet |
33/1(-65%) | (7) Tees Harriet 33/1, Thrice-raced maiden over 5f on AW. Off 7 months. Makes handicap debut and needs to improve. Starts handicap life off a lowly mark; is worth tracking in the market back from a break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Now that SOUL SINGER has regained the winning thread after a comfortable success over 5f at Musselburgh, Tim Easterby's charge is likely to improve for going back up in trip, especially at a track where he was narrowly denied in March. Sergeant Mayer may have disappointed on his two starts here but has strong claims on his recent second at Beverley, while She'sashambles was only worn down late in the piece when bidding for the double over C&D last month.
COURT DRIVE was unlucky not to finish closer here last time, only getting room to fully open up inside the final furlong. She looks ready to strike again. Sergeant Mayer and Indivar are feared most.
Indivar won't mind the return to sprinting, but COURT DRIVE hasn't had much luck since handicapping and is preferred.

7/1(+42%) | (11) Dash Gordon 7/1, Blinkered for 1st time, seventh of 9 in minor event at Thirsk (6f, good to firm, 15/2) 32 days ago, looking awkward. Makes tapeta debut. Must improve. Marked tendency to hang left; only daylight on his left from stall 1, which is a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/4 -53%) Missmimi |
11/4(-53%) | (2) Missmimi 11/4, 3/1, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at this course (6f) 19 days ago, pushed out. She's really stepped up her game since encountering an all-weather surface and looks poised to go well again back over 5f. In good form here of late (6f); getting off the mark last time (2lb lower) won't have hurt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (33/1 -65%) Rockley Point |
33/1(-65%) | (12) Rockley Point 33/1, 4-time course winner. Twenty four runs since last win in 2023. Off 145 days. Might need this. Entitled to need this first run in five months at his age; bit of a shock were he to win. |

4th (4) (9/2 +44%) Stallone |
9/2(+44%) | (4) Stallone 9/2, 3-time C&D winner. Ninth of 14 in handicap at this C&D (20/1) 28 days ago. No surprise if he bounced back in a thin race. Wasn't best drawn in a better handicap here four weeks ago and is capable of bouncing back. |

15/2(-88%) | (9) Blackcurrent 15/2, 4-time C&D winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. Off 6 months. Enjoyed a good spell here this time last year. Six-time course winner who does most racing now over 6f; may need this at his age. |

6th (3) (28/1 -40%) Yiengaa |
28/1(-40%) | (3) Yiengaa 28/1, Winner at Brighton in June. Eleventh of 12 in handicap at this C&D (14/1) 60 days ago. Yet to offer much on all-weather. Struggled since 6f Brighton win off 3lb lower; has it to prove back from two months off. |

7th (5) (8/1 -14%) Turn And Burn |
8/1(-14%) | (5) Turn And Burn 8/1, Winner at Lingfield in September, standout performance at this stage. 16/1, fifth of 8 in handicap at Bath (5f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Makes tapeta debut and one to note. Again fluffed the start and pulled hard latest; is up to taking this if more professional. |

8th (8) (40/1 +20%) Quanah |
40/1(+20%) | (8) Quanah 40/1, C&D winner. Twenty one runs since last win in 2022. 80/1, eleventh of 13 in handicap at this course (6f) 7 days ago. On the decline for a couple of years and didn't offer a lot over 7f here last Tuesday. |

9th (10) (9/1 -13%) Sassy Soprano |
9/1(-13%) | (10) Sassy Soprano 9/1, 14/1, bit below form fifth of 9 in handicap at Carlisle (5f, good to soft) 20 days ago, merely closing up late. Blinkers on 1st time. Capable off this mark if she settles early from an outside stall, switched to blinkers. |

10th (7) (18/1 -125%) Another Angel |
18/1(-125%) | (7) Another Angel 18/1, 8-time C&D winner. Eighteen runs since last win in 2023. Off 11 weeks, tenth of 11 in handicap (40/1) at Southwell (5f) 28 days ago. Eight-time C&D winner who's into the veteran stage and on the downgrade. |

11th (1) (13/2 +28%) Astapor |
13/2(+28%) | (1) Astapor 13/2, Seventh of 9 in handicap (12/1) at Carlisle (5f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Has work to do. Struggled since a May win and, while well treated as a result, does need to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (25/1 -108%) Joshua R |
25/1(-108%) | (6) Joshua R 25/1, C&D winner. Off 7 months. Might need this. Dual C&D winner who goes well fresh; is one of the more interesting contenders. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
With Aiden Brookes claiming 3lb, MISSMIMI is effectively 1lb lower than for her 6f success here last month and is the most attractive option in handicapping terms, despite this being only her second attempt over the minimum trip. Stallone is a three-time C&D winner who can make this tough for the selection if on a going day. Sassy Soprano is handily drawn and also appeals for a place on the assumption that first-time blinkers can draw some improvement.
MISSMIMI has thrived since coming to Newcastle and can win again dropped back to 5f in a weak contest. Stallone and Blackcurrent are a couple of the other more obvious players.
The drop to 5f is the worry with Missmimi and dual C&D winner JOSHUA R, who has often gone well fresh, is preferred.

Clearly still better than this grade and good chance he can make it 2-2 on this surface. Took well to this surface in C&D event two weeks ago on AW/stable debut; warrants respect. |

6th (5) (13/2 -44%) Streak Lightning |
13/2(-44%) | (5) Streak Lightning 13/2, Won 12-runner handicap (8/1) at this C&D 21 days ago, helped by being held up in strongly-run race. Seen to maximum effect and more needed now. Overcame a tardy start to lead close home over C&D last month for a fourth Newcastle win. |

12/1(+76%) | (2) Harry Magnus 12/1, Dual winner for Charles Hills. Off 4 months/gelded and had breathing op, eighth of 11 in handicap at Thirsk (7f, good to firm, 100/1) 24 days ago. Will find easier opportunities. Down the field in two runs for new yard; best watched. |

66/1(-371%) | (6) B Associates 66/1, Has won 3 times this year. Good fourth of 11 in handicap (15/2) at Chester (6.1f, heavy) 18 days ago, never nearer. First run for yard after leaving James Owen. Others more persuasive. Bit to prove off current mark back on AW; debut for new connections. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (25/1 -79%) Admiral Nelson |
25/1(-79%) | (10) Admiral Nelson 25/1, C&D winner. Below form eighth of 13 in handicap at Redcar (8f, good to firm, 10/1) 101 days ago. Interesting back at Newcastle on return from break; won off 2lb higher here last December. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
THE COOKSTOWN CAFU justified strong support in the betting when he won over course and distance a fortnight ago and, on just his second start for David O'Meara, a 2lb higher mark is far from insurmountable now he has proven to be effective on Tapeta. Streak Lightning struggles for consistency but can also go well if buoyed by his own C&D win last time. Ideal Guest and B Associates debut for new yards and are others to note in the betting.
THE COOKSTOWN CAFU made his first start away from turf a winning one for his new yard here recently and can strike again. Patontheback and Maxi Boy could be a couple of the dangers.
Being still favourably treated, THE COOKSTOWN CAFU (nap) is taken to complete a C&D double. Patontheback is second choice.
Ths is the racecard key.
