Loom Large |
(3) (9/4 +74%)9/4(+74%) | (3) Loom Large 9/4, Won 12-runner handicap at this course (10.2f, 20/1) 18 days ago, better placed than most. Back down in trip. Remains well treated on his Irish form and rates as a player with good-value claimer aboard. Notched first AW win here last time and, although back in trip, should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Cusack |
(1) (9/4 +44%)9/4(+44%) | (1) Cusack 9/4, C&D winner. Latest win here in September. Again ran creditably when third of 11 in handicap (11/1) at this C&D 14 days ago. Merits consideration. Goes well at this course and this reliable sort should give another good account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Al Tarfa |
(9) (11/1 -69%)11/1(-69%) | (9) Al Tarfa 11/1, Twice chased home a thriving rival at Lingfield in recent weeks and probably wasn't seen to best effect from a poor position when seventh of 11 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f) 8 days ago. Can be forgiven that effort and is high on the shortlist again. Inconsistent maiden; better than he was able to show last time; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Rory |
(5) (12/1 +45%)12/1(+45%) | (5) Rory 12/1, Unreliable individual. Course winner. Twenty one runs since last win in 2022. Ninth of 12 in handicap (16/1) at Ayr (7.2f, soft) 17 days ago. Hard to make a case for. Not won for over a year and type that needs things to drop right; can be taken on again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Powdering |
(7) (13/2 +59%)13/2(+59%) | (7) Powdering 13/2, Winner at Hamilton in June. Creditable fifth of 11 in handicap (20/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 17 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Not won since reappearance/handicap debut in June but return to a mile likely to help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mercurius Power |
(11) (14/1 -100%)14/1(-100%) | (11) Mercurius Power 14/1, Course winner. Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Appeared not to stay longer trip when ninth of 13 in handicap at Southwell (11.1f, 8/1) 22 days ago. Back down in trip. Cheekpieces back on. Has slipped in the weights but others possess more convincing recent profiles. Has slipped back to a good mark and may be suited by the drop back to this distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Cloch Nua |
(2) (16/1 -33%)16/1(-33%) | (2) Cloch Nua 16/1, C&D winner. Respectable fifth of 12 in handicap (14/1) at Doncaster (8f, firm). Off 105 days. Place claims if ready to roll after a break. Has shown he retains all his ability this year but best watched on first run since July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Asdaa |
(12) (16/1 +0%)16/1(+0%) | (12) Asdaa 16/1, C&D winner. 5/1, failed to build on a mildly promising effort when only sixth of 8 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. Visor on 1st time. Others preferred. Patchy form since last win but usual cheekpieces now replaced by first-time visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Little Ted |
(6) (16/1 +36%)16/1(+36%) | (6) Little Ted 16/1, Unreliable sort. C&D winner. Latest win at Ripon in August. Creditable sixth of 13 in handicap at Ayr (8f, good to soft, 11/1) 28 days ago. Others make more appeal on balance. Won over C&D and over further on turf since July; should give a good account down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Danielsflyer |
(4) (18/1 -50%)18/1(-50%) | (4) Danielsflyer 18/1, C&D winner. Respectable 4½ lengths sixth of 12 to Loom Large in handicap at this course (10.2f, 25/1) 18 days ago. Back down in trip. Cheekpieces back on. Needs a couple of these to falter. No improvement over 1m2f on last five starts; should benefit from the step back to a mile. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bay Dream Believer |
(10) (28/1 -100%)28/1(-100%) | (10) Bay Dream Believer 28/1, Winner at Wetherby in May. 4/1, only fifth of 7 in handicap at Ripon (8f, good to soft) 73 days ago, making effort earlier than ideal. In good heart prior to that effort and isn't ruled out of making the frame. Below best on soft last time and still to show she's as good on AW; enough to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
The last time CUSACK ran at this level, he scored comfortably over C&D last month and, having run well when upped in class the last twice, the son of Heeraat is taken to bounce back to winning ways. That may be at the main expense of fellow course winner Loom Large, who shouldn't be inconvenienced by the drop in trip, having travelled well over further last time out. Cloch Nua and Red Hat Eagle are entitled to be thereabouts.
The form of AL TARFA's second-placed efforts behind Belo Horizonte still appeals as strong for this grade and he was left with far too much to do at Chelmsford last time, so William Knight's gelding is fancied to confirm his previous promise here. Cusack has remained in good form since winning here last month and rates as a player, as does Loom Large, who was seen to good effect when scoring over further here earlier in the month but remains on a potentially-lenient mark.
This can go to LOOM LARGE, who won over 1m2f at this venue last time. That form has been franked and he is effective over shorter.

Haaland |

Respected but may still be a touch high in the weights. Close 3rd at Chelmsford (1m6f) latest; considered in first-time headgear on first go at 2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Spritzin' |
(4) (9/1 +10%)9/1(+10%) | (4) Spritzin' 9/1, Sixth of 9 in handicap at Pontefract (18f, good to soft, 12/1) 11 days ago, unable to see out longer trip having raced freely. Makes tapeta debut. Has work to do. 0-8; beaten a neck over 1m4f on seasonal/handicap debut but has not repeated the form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Spirit Of Ash |
(9) (9/2 -29%)9/2(-29%) | (9) Spirit Of Ash 9/2, Resumed winning ways with plenty up her sleeve in 11-runner handicap at this course (12.4f) 7 days ago. Carries penalty. Significantly up in trip. Has to be taken seriously again despite regular slow starts. All three wins here this year; the latest was one week ago in fine style over 1m4f; 2m?. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Kiss My Face |
(7) (10/1 +17%)10/1(+17%) | (7) Kiss My Face 10/1, C&D winner. 3 wins from 6 runs this year. Latest win at Southwell in April. 5/1, third of 5 in handicap at Musselburgh (16f, good to soft). Not fully ruled out if sharp enough to overcome 168-day absence. Did well early this year; off since May; trainer won this race in 2021 and 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Sophar Sogood |
(3) (13/2 +41%)13/2(+41%) | (3) Sophar Sogood 13/2, Ended long losing run at Kempton in September but wasn't in anywhere near the same form when thirteenth of 14 in handicap (33/1) at Nottingham (14f, heavy) 24 days ago. Others preferred. Won at Kempton (2m, AW) last month; trailed when 33-1 on soft ground 18 days later. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Artisan Dancer |
(6) (15/8 +16%)15/8(+16%) | (6) Artisan Dancer 15/8, 3 wins from 9 runs this year. Latest win at Lingfield in September. Unlucky to not have completed 4-timer when sixth of 8 in handicap (5/4) at this course (12.4f) 14 days ago, staying on strongly when denied a run late. Significantly back up in trip. Leading player. Bidding for a four-timer when he ran out of room (challenging) here; 2m Lingfield AW win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bobby Shaftoe |
(5) (17/2 +0%)17/2(+0%) | (5) Bobby Shaftoe 17/2, C&D winner. 3 wins from 11 runs this year. 17/2, respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at Ayr (13.1f, good to soft) 28 days ago, left with lot to do. Back up in trip. Sound place claims. Three wins here and he's interesting back on AW, which he's not tried since March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Yasmin From York |
(10) (20/1 -82%)20/1(-82%) | (10) Yasmin From York 20/1, Slightly below form when fourth of 11 in handicap at Catterick (15.9f, soft, 11/4) 16 days ago. Stays well and mark has slipped this season, but others appeal as likelier winners. Has not hit her top form this season and the last of her four AW runs was in January 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Red Force One |
(1) (80/1 -60%)80/1(-60%) | (1) Red Force One 80/1, Has struggled under both codes since scoring over hurdles at Huntingdon in May. Pulled up around halfway at York last time and has plenty to prove at present. Won over hurdles this May but has not fired since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ARTISAN DANCER never got a clear run over shorter here last time out, and compensation may await the progressive three-year-old as he steps back up in distance. A winner on his three previous starts, he may have too much for Spirit Of Ash, who won well here last time out, and should benefit from going up in trip. Sophar Sogood disappointed at Nottingham last time out, but is better judged on the form of his penultimate success at Kempton.
ARTISAN DANCER completed a hat-trick across August and September and seemed most unlucky not to extend his winning sequence here last time, building up a head of steam when denied a run on the stand rail well inside the final 1f. He's proven over this trip and is a more straightforward sort than Spirit of Ash, who was most impressive when winning over 12.5f here last week. She rates as the clear main danger under a penalty, with Bobby Shaftoe fancied to complete the placings.
Spirit Of Ash, Bobby Shaftoe and Kiss My Face are considered seriously but ARTISAN DANCER can return to winning ways.

Elegant Madame |
(1) (5/2 -43%)5/2(-43%) | (1) Elegant Madame 5/2, Overcame inexperience to make a winning debut in 7f Leicester fillies' novice in June. Failed to progres when 10¾ lengths eighth of 9 to Kitty Rose in listed race at Leopardstown (7.3f, good to firm, 22/1) 41 days ago but should be able to make more impact in this company. Out of depth in Listed company last time but leading claims returned to AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Frost At Dawn |
(4) (9/2 +59%)9/2(+59%) | (4) Frost At Dawn 9/2, Foaled April 22. Frosted filly. Half-sister to 1m winner Kingori. Makes some appeal on paper but yard not assocaited with winning newcomers. Sister to an AW winner over a mile; worth a look in the market ahead of racecourse debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Last Applause |
(2) (10/3 -11%)10/3(-11%) | (2) Last Applause 10/3, Twice-raced winner. Confirmed debut promise when on 7-runner minor event at Catterick (7f, soft, 2/1) 16 days ago. Likely to improve further. Confirmed debut promise when winning at Catterick last time; penalty to carry but claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Riccoboni |
(6) (15/2 -50%)15/2(-50%) | (6) Riccoboni 15/2, Too Darn Hot filly. 30,000F, 42,000Y. Half-sister to 1¾m-16.6f winner Victoriano (by Teofilo) and 9.5f winner Wilkie (by New Approach): dam unraced sister to top-class-performer up to 1½m Fantastic Light. Perhaps the most interesting of the newcomers on paper. Winners in pedigree and yard can get one ready first time; interesting runner on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
South Kensington |
(7) (16/5 +20%)16/5(+20%) | (7) South Kensington 16/5, Twice-raced filly. Some promise when sixth on 6f course debut in May and something presumably can't have been right when last of 11 at Windsor the following month. Given time since. Promise on debut but well beaten when last seen; needs to improve on this AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Elegant Appeal |
(3) (18/1 +45%)18/1(+45%) | (3) Elegant Appeal 18/1, Represents a top yard but hasn't beaten a rival on either outing to date. Cheekpieces now applied. Bettered debut effort at Redcar last time; cheekpieces on but good deal more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Misty Time |
(5) (40/1 -100%)40/1(-100%) | (5) Misty Time 40/1, Foaled April 2. Time Test filly. Half-sister to 13.3f-16.5f winner Bracken Brae and 2-y-o 7f winner Garrel Glen. Dam 7f winner. Yard don't run many juveniles but can train a debut winner and she is worth a market check. Winners (including on AW) in pedigree but trainer isn't renowned for debut winners. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A 4lb penalty for a comfortable success at Catterick will make life tougher for LAST APPLAUSE, but she's clearly on the up and shaped with plenty of promise at this track on debut when a close-up third behind a more experienced, 80-rated filly. Elegant Madame drops in class having finished down the field in Listed company at Leopardstown last time out, while South Kensington is another to note.
Previous-winners LAST APPLAUSE and Elegant Madame could be the pair to focus on, with preference narrowly for Brian Ellison's filly. Riccoboni is an interesting newcomer.
This looks easier than ELEGANT MADAME's latest assignment in Listed company at Leopardstown and she can beat Last Applause

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Louella |
(2) (6.5/1 -63%)6.5/1(-63%) | (2) Louella 6.5/1, After 8 weeks off, progressed again when second of 8 in nursery at Catterick (5f, soft, 7/2) 16 days ago, edged out near line. Can be thereabouts once more as she makes tapeta debut. Unexposed sort; turned in best effort over 5f at Catterick last time; claims back up to 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Socialise |
(8) (7/2 +50%)7/2(+50%) | (8) Socialise 7/2, From an easing mark, produced his best effort yet when close fourth of 12 in nursery (11/2) at this course (7.1f) 3 days ago. Can make his presence felt. Best effort up to 7f here earlier in week; not without a chance back in distance. |

Moyola |
(3) (8/1 -78%)8/1(-78%) | (3) Moyola 8/1, After 9 weeks off (gelded), looked rusty when fourth of 8 in nursery at Catterick (5f, soft, 12/1) 16 days ago, late headway. Should be suited by the step up in trip on his first start on tapeta. Behind Louella at Catterick last time but worth a try over this trip for this AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Miss Rainbow |
(4) (11/1 -10%)11/1(-10%) | (4) Miss Rainbow 11/1, After 3 months off, ran best race when third of 10 on nursery debut (33/1) at this C&D 18 days ago. Task is now to build on her latest effort. Ran respectably over C&D on handicap debut but more needed if she's to win this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Torvar |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Chillout Charlie |
(5) (20/1 -25%)20/1(-25%) | (5) Chillout Charlie 20/1, Has progressed gradually with each of his 3 starts so far, sixth of 8 in maiden (16/1) at this course (7.1f) 24 days ago. Needs to leave his previous form well behind as he goes handicapping (has been gelded). Hasn't shown much but has improved with every run; market should guide on AW/nursery debut. |

Parson's Meadow |
(9) (150/1 -127%)150/1(-127%) | (9) Parson's Meadow 150/1, Has finished down the field all 3 starts since his debut, faring no better on nursery debut (50/1) when last of 10 at this C&D 18 days ago. Best watched. Showed ability on debut but well beaten since, including on AW/nursery debut last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
TORVAR is set to go up 1lb for future races after finishing a solid third over C&D last time out, despite having to be switched after failing to get a clear run which cost him ground, and, with Danny Tudhope on board, he won't get many better chances to win a nursery. Fellow top-weight Louella is an obvious danger after going under by a short-head at Catterick, while Dadas Boy may go well if Hollie Doyle can bring the best out of him.
TORVAR has got back on track upped to 6f on his last 2 outings, finishing well after meeting trouble when third at this C&D a week ago, so he could be ready to get off the mark this time around. Louella has placed on all 3 of her starts in nurseries and isn't taken lightly, while Socialise is another who merits consideration.

(11) (11/1 -10%)11/1(-10%) | (11) Lotting's Lass 11/1, Made a winning all-weather debut at Southwell in September and, after 6 days off, backed up that effort under a penalty when third of 8 in nursery (9/2) at Catterick (5f, soft) 16 days ago. Shortlisted. Won on sole AW start and ran well back on turf last time; should give a good account. |

Needs to leave latest run behind sent handicapping. Showed ability on debut but below that level since; would want to see market support. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Mart could be interesting on his first start for Dylan Cunha having been gelded after finishing sixth when sent off favourite here in August, but he will need a big step forward to get the better of ZACHARY. A comfortable winner on his only start on the all-weather at Chelmsford last time out, he has a 6lb penalty, but is due to go up 7lb for future contests. He might follow up that success, leaving Lotting's Lass as an interesting alternative after her Catterick third.
MACARONE showed improved form when getting off the mark at Beverley in August, before finding 6f on soft ground too much of a test last time, so he can resume winning ways as he returns to this shorter trip. Zachary made a successful all-weather debut 6 days ago and is feared most, ahead of Lotting's Lass.

(1) (7/2 +0%)7/2(+0%) | (1) Light Speed 7/2, In need of the experience when sixth of 11 in minor event (25/1) at Southwell (7.1f) on debut 10 days ago. No surprise to see him take a step forward with that first run behind him. Hinted at ability in 7f AW event at Southwell last week, while seeming green. |

Madam Florence |
(6) (9/2 +50%)9/2(+50%) | (6) Madam Florence 9/2, After 15 months off, left debut form well behind when fifth of 8 in minor event at this course (1m, 50/1) 3 days ago. Will need to find more again as she drops back down in trip. Encouraging effort over 1m here on Tuesday when back from 15-month layoff. |

Ribble Rouser |
(4) (13/2 -271%)13/2(-271%) | (4) Ribble Rouser 13/2, Returned to firmer ground, not in the same form as previous outing when well-beaten third of 7 in maiden at Leicester (6f, good to firm, 13/2) in July. Could get back on track after a break. Modest third over 6f when last seen; holds major claims on his 7f/1m efforts in June. |

Brazen Rascal |
(3) (28/1 +44%)28/1(+44%) | (3) Brazen Rascal 28/1, Has made little impact in a pair of starts so far, tenth of 11 in minor event (250/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 10 days ago. One for further down the line. Down the field in a couple of Southwell contests. |

Dazamay |
(5) (150/1 -127%)150/1(-127%) | (5) Dazamay 150/1, Has finished down the field both starts to date, seventh of 8 in minor event at this course (1m, 300/1) 3 days ago. Looks to be up against it. Has achieved little in both outings. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LIGHT SPEED was slowly away on his Southwell debut when running green until the penny finally dropped and he can only improve for that experience, making him a potential player here. Moon Flight has the form in the book after a fourth here over a furlong shorter, but he was beaten over seven lengths and needs to step up to get off the mark, leaving Ribble Rouser to look to repeat or better his June third on the return to 7f.
Having made an encouraging start to his career, MOON FLIGHT ran below the level of his first 2 starts when fourth of 8 at this course 3 weeks ago, but he is taken to bounce back returned to this longer trip. He can get the better of Ribble Rouser, who can also leave behind a lesser effort after a break, with Light Speed the pick of the remainder.

First run since leaving Michael Bell when eighth of 10 in handicap at this C&D (50/1) 31 days ago. Others look better treated. Has won on Polytrack and turf but not at best on first run for yard after break last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The draw is a concern for NOVAK, but it is feasible a berth in stall one might even prove beneficial if the action develops down the centre of the course. A winner over this trip off 6lb lower at Ayr in May, Iain Jardine's gelding also boasts some respectable C&D form and shades the vote in an open contest. Ventura Rascal is feared most of those drawn higher, with Southwell specialist Love Your Work also considered after a respectable second here last month.
LOVE YOUR WORK arrives in good form and figures off a handy mark. He can return to winning ways. Roaring Ralph and Ventura Rascal can also make their presence felt.

Trabajo Detecho |

Destined |
(11) (28/1 -100%)28/1(-100%) | (11) Destined 28/1, Creditable sixth of 11 in handicap (9/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 17 days ago. Visor on 1st time. More required to take a hand here. Looking a rather exposed 3yo now; new headgear needs to work well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SHOWTIME MAHOMES exploited a drop in the ratings when winning at Musselburgh on his penultimate start and, having finishing a close third in an apprentice handicap over C&D off the same mark 18 days ago, he offers strong appeal with regular partner Sam James back in the saddle. Recent Ayr winner Alpine Sierra is unexposed on the all-weather and is another to consider, with Slippin Jimmy and Tuscan a couple of others likely to go well.
Preference is for TUSCAN, who has been cut plenty of slack by the handicapper and recent efforts have suggested a return to winning ways is on the cards. Alpine Sierra and Showtime Mahomes should also go well.

Shotley Royale |
(3) (80/1 -100%)80/1(-100%) | (3) Shotley Royale 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 100/1, last of 12 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. Hard to fancy. Yet to build on his debut, including when well held over C&D on recent h'cap debut (100-1). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Arriving on the back of a couple of near-misses, NOTEABLE is still competitively weighted and, given she is proven on a Tapeta surface, has a solid chance of gaining a first career success. William Pyle has build up a rapport with the selection over the last couple of months and his 5lb claim is a handy asset on these terms. One Of Our Own commands respect based on her recent turf form, while The Gay Blade completes the shortlist from the bottom of the handicap.
This can go to NOTEABLE, who has come close in recent starts and her useful pilot can claim a valuable 5 lb. One of Our Own and The Gay Blade rate the principal dangers.
Ths is the racecard key.
