7/4(+22%) | (6) Mon Etoile 7/4, 15/2, very good second of 7 in handicap at Musselburgh (12.5f, good) 3 days ago. Expected to be bang there off the same mark in her bid for a breakthrough victory. Placed nine times from 15 starts; just beaten at Musselburgh on Saturday; high on list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 -20%) Sycamore Gap |
3/1(-20%) | (1) Sycamore Gap 3/1, Good second of 7 in handicap at Hamilton (11.1f, soft, 13/2) 13 days ago. Looks competitive on form. 0-15 but only beaten a head on turf last time; has to make the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

20/1(+0%) | (8) Daring Leader 20/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, sixth of 9 in handicap at Beverley (9.9f, good to firm, 25/1) 17 days ago. Up in trip. Engaged 1.45 Thirsk Monday. Third at Beverley in June, but little to get excited about otherwise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (17/2 +15%) Spring Festival |
17/2(+15%) | (3) Spring Festival 17/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1, sixth of 7 in handicap at Doncaster (10.2f, good to firm) 31 days ago. Up in trip with more needed on tapeta debut. Hasn't beaten many in five starts on turf; needs to improve for the new surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (13/2 -44%) Bond Spirit |
13/2(-44%) | (2) Bond Spirit 13/2, Latest win at Bath in May. 14/1, creditable fourth of 12 in handicap at Bath (11.6f, good to firm) 13 days ago, never nearer. In the mix. 1lb above last winning mark; twice successful over 1m4f at Southwell; major contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (18/1 -13%) Gurkhali |
18/1(-13%) | (9) Gurkhali 18/1, Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. 40/1 and hooded/first run since leaving Brian Rothwell when seventh of 10 in minor event at this course (10.2f) 46 days ago. Needs to step forward on his handicap debut. Has shown nothing in two bumpers nor four starts on Tapeta; hard to recommend. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (15/2 -25%) National Question |
15/2(-25%) | (7) National Question 15/2, Winner at Musselburgh in July. Creditable fifth of 12 in handicap at Carlisle (11.2f, good to soft, 11/2) 27 days ago. Can make his presence felt. Not beaten far at Carlisle last time but well beaten in his only AW start here in February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (16/1 -60%) Lord Warburton |
16/1(-60%) | (5) Lord Warburton 16/1, Latest win at Pontefract in June. 50/1, creditable fifth of 14 in handicap at Catterick (13.9f, good) 20 days ago. Can give a good account. Not beaten far when fifth at Catterick last time, but others look more solid. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
MON ETOILE improved for the step up to this trip at Musselburgh on Saturday. Beaten only a neck on that occasion, the three-year-old can finally open her account with more to come over the distance. Sycamore Gap is another looking for a first win, but that won't be long in coming judged on recent placed efforts, while Bond Spirit showed a bit more at Bath recently and has winning form on the Tapeta.
A very open handicap but MON ETOILE is able to race off the same mark as when a very good recent Musselburgh second so gets the vote. In-form duo Sycamore Gap and Bond Spirit appeal as the main dangers to Charlie Johnston's filly and can chase her home in that order.
The vote goes to BOND SPIRIT whose three career wins include two on the Southwell Tapeta.

1st (3) (5/2 +29%) The Bobster |
5/2(+29%) | (3) The Bobster 5/2, 20/1, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Musselburgh (9f, good) 20 days ago, suited by increase in trip. Makes tapeta debut. Can give a good account. Latest Musselburgh fourth has been franked; half-brother to a Tapeta winner; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (28/1 +15%) Volenti |
28/1(+15%) | (6) Volenti 28/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 50/1, first run since leaving Barry Brennan when ninth of 12 in handicap at Ripon (8f, good to firm) 37 days ago. Up in trip. 1-17; needs to step up a good deal from last month's stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (5/1 +44%) Vintage Love |
5/1(+44%) | (9) Vintage Love 5/1, Sixth of 9 in handicap at Carlisle (6.9f, good to soft, 9/2) 27 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Needs a couple of these to falter. 0-14 but has dropped to a favourable mark and has gone well here before; should stay 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (6/1 -167%) Where Is The Love |
6/1(-167%) | (2) Where Is The Love 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, good second of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 19 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Beaten a neck on her Chelmsford return 19 days ago; high on list if building on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (3/1 -33%) Loom Large |
3/1(-33%) | (5) Loom Large 3/1, C&D winner. Fourteen runs since last win in 2023. Very good second of 11 in handicap (20/1) at this course (8f) 14 days ago. Back up in trip. Big shout nudged up 1 lb. C&D winner who was just beaten over 1m here last time; return to 1m2f should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (33/1 +18%) Caracristi |
33/1(+18%) | (7) Caracristi 33/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. Last of 11 in handicap (66/1) at Ripon (10.9f, good to firm) 22 days ago. Last five efforts have been moderate; best to look elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (12/1 +25%) Gregorianna |
12/1(+25%) | (10) Gregorianna 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 14/1, only sixth of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 19 days ago. Others appeal more. A glimmer of promise in her first three starts, but not built on it in two handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (33/1 -32%) Foshan |
33/1(-32%) | (8) Foshan 33/1, 300/1, last of 8 in novice hurdle at Musselburgh (17.4f, heavy) 165 days ago. Cheekpieces back on but others more persuasive. 0-14 under rules; hard to recommend back from 165 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (12/1 -33%) Macho Sun |
12/1(-33%) | (4) Macho Sun 12/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. 8/1, respectable sixth of 13 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 50 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Julia Feilden. Claims. 0-16; modest of late and has plenty to find on stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
WHERE IS THE LOVE was having her first outing since February when just missing out at Chelmsford recently in first-time cheekpieces. The headgear remains in place and Joseph Parr's unexposed filly looks set to strike off her current mark. The Bobster also has scope for further progress having produced his best performance so far when fourth at Musselburgh latest, while Loom Large finished strongly when runner-up over a mile here a fortnight ago and is another to bear in mind.
Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and LOOM LARGE is fancied to end a losing run on the back of his very good course second last time out. Chelmsford runner-up Where Is The Love is next on the list, with The Bobster and Macho Sun also in the mix.
The vote goes to C&D winner LOOM LARGE (nap) who shaped as though the return to this trip would suit last time.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (12/1 +52%) Rubellite |
12/1(+52%) | (8) Rubellite 12/1, 50/1, eighth of 10 in minor event at Ripon (9.8f, good to firm) 22 days ago. Others appeal more. Running well on Tapeta earlier in the year, but not in the same form lately. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/2 +15%) Carlton |
11/2(+15%) | (2) Carlton 11/2, Course winner. Eighth of 9 in novice hurdle (20/1) at Market Rasen (16.6f, good to firm) on NH debut 31 days ago. Cheekpieces back on with more required. 7lb lower than for her sole win over 1m4f here in January; a player if bouncing back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/2 -120%) Wheres The Crumpet |
11/2(-120%) | (1) Wheres The Crumpet 11/2, C&D winner. Latest win at Ayr in July. Creditable fifth of 11 in handicap (8/1) at this course (8f) 14 days ago. Back up in trip. Player eased 1 lb. One of her two wins came over C&D; player if the return to this trip revives her fortunes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (14/1 -40%) Curious Mrs Fox |
14/1(-40%) | (9) Curious Mrs Fox 14/1, Sixth of 9 in handicap at Doncaster (8f, good to firm, 13/2) 59 days ago, slowly away. Up in trip. Has gone close a couple of times on turf; each-way claims if seeing out the longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (40/1 -186%) Milltown Lily |
40/1(-186%) | (7) Milltown Lily 40/1, Remains a maiden after 25 Flat runs. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, tenth of 12 in handicap at Carlisle (11.2f, good to soft, 25/1) 27 days ago. Not shown much this term and is now 0-29 under rules. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (14/1 -56%) Pearly Star |
14/1(-56%) | (5) Pearly Star 14/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2023. Creditable fifth of 9 in handicap at Beverley (9.9f, good to firm, 25/1) 17 days ago. Not ruled out. 1-18; continues to edge down the weights but others have more convincing profiles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (4/1 -45%) Our Noble Lord |
4/1(-45%) | (6) Our Noble Lord 4/1, 50/1, good third of 12 in minor event at Ayr (10f, good) 38 days ago. Needs considering. Better effort when third at Ayr last time and hasn't been with the yard for long. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (3/1 +63%) Busby |
3/1(+63%) | (3) Busby 3/1, Nineteen runs since last win in 2022. Below form seventh of 12 in handicap (11/1) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 12 days ago. Losing run now 19, but well treated on his three placed efforts over C&D earlier in year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
OUR NOBLE LORD was having only his second start of the year when third in a classified stakes race at Ayr last month. That form looks better in hindsight given the winner has subsequently landed a hat-trick and Lucinda Russell looks to have found him a good opportunity to open his account. Wheres The Crumpet has been in decent form over a mile and returns to this longer trip with a shout, while both Pearly Star and Busby have won off a higher marks in the past.
WHERES THE CRUMPET rates just the pick of the weights and can boast a C&D victory so looks the way to go. Our Noble Lord could emerge as the main danger on the back of his good Ayr third, with Pearly Star and Violeta also in the picture.
It may be worth taking a chance with BUSBY who is well treated on his placed efforts over C&D earlier in the year.

15/2(+6%) | (10) Different Drum 15/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable third of 5 in handicap at Southwell (12.1f, 80/1) 13 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Needs considering with few miles still on the clock. Bred to stay well so may have a bit more to offer upped another half-mile in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/4 -22%) Unique Spirit |
11/4(-22%) | (4) Unique Spirit 11/4, Visored for 1st time, very good third of 9 in handicap (13/2) at this C&D 5 days ago, just failing. Holds leading claims off an unchanged mark. Beaten two heads into third over C&D last Thursday; high on list from same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (16/1 -191%) Lunacy |
16/1(-191%) | (7) Lunacy 16/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. 5/1, fourth of 7 in handicap at Hamilton (11.1f, soft) 13 days ago, not ideally placed. Significantly up in trip. Considered. Not disgraced on turf lately; each-way claims if seeing out the longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 -20%) Peripeteia |
12/1(-20%) | (5) Peripeteia 12/1, Latest win at Musselburgh in July. Tenth of 15 in handicap (14/1) at Thirsk (12f, good to soft) 1 day ago. Significantly up in trip. Three wins on the Wolverhampton Tapeta but down the field at Thirsk yesterday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/1 -64%) Pop The Champagne |
9/1(-64%) | (1) Pop The Champagne 9/1, 17/2, respectable third of 11 in handicap hurdle at Worcester (20f, good) 20 days ago. Fair on the Flat so she must enter calculations. Winner of four hurdles and a bumper; this trip on a stiff track may stretch her stamina. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (66/1 -164%) Brora Breeze |
66/1(-164%) | (2) Brora Breeze 66/1, Ninth of 10 in handicap (66/1) at Hamilton (13.1f, soft) 13 days ago. Up in trip. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Shown nothing since winning a year ago; enough to prove, not least stamina; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (11/10 +60%) Veer |
11/10(+60%) | (8) Veer 11/10, Good second of 7 in handicap at Nottingham (14f, good, 4/1) 28 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. Runner-up over 1m6f the last twice, shaping as though 2m would suit; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (40/1 -300%) Perfect Arch |
40/1(-300%) | (6) Perfect Arch 40/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. Eighth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (22/1) 5 days ago, inadequate test. Cheekpieces back on. No forlorn hope. Modest of late and a record of 0-40 under rules is hard to ignore. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (150/1 -355%) Daniel Deronda |
150/1(-355%) | (3) Daniel Deronda 150/1, Course winner. Twenty runs since last win in 2021. 150/1, eleventh of 14 in handicap at Catterick (13.9f, good) 20 days ago. Ungenuine type. 2-40 and his performances since joining this yard don't make him of much interest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
UNIQUE SPIRIT finished third over C&D last Thursday when tackling this distance for the first time, and a repeat of that display might see David O'Meara's gelding shed the maiden tag in what appears to be a winnable contest on paper. Veer has filled the runner-up spot on his last couple of starts and may benefit from stepping up in trip, while others to note include Lunacy and Different Drum.
UNIQUE SPIRIT took a step forward on his first go over 2m when a recent C&D third and is fancied to open his account off the same mark here. Lunacy and Pop The Champagne are a couple of others to consider.
The choice is VEER who has finished runner up in his last two starts over 1m6f, shaping as though this even stiffer test would suit.

1st (2) (2/1 +40%) Khaldiya |
2/1(+40%) | (2) Khaldiya 2/1, Twice-raced maiden. 7/4, 3 lengths third of 7 to Magic Basma in maiden at Carlisle (5.8f, good to soft) 27 days ago. Firmly in the picture. Just beaten on debut but 3l behind Magic Basma last time; 7lb better off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (4/1 -60%) Magic Basma |
4/1(-60%) | (1) Magic Basma 4/1, Expert Eye filly who cosily won 7-runner maiden (25/1) at Carlisle (5.8f, good to soft) on her debut 27 days ago. Looked green there so merits serious consideration despite conceding 7 lb all round. Made a winning debut at Carlisle last month; remains open to further progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (16/1 -78%) Monetize |
16/1(-78%) | (3) Monetize 16/1, Encouraging third of 6 in novice at Thirsk (5f, good to firm, 9/1) on debut 39 days ago. Can build on it. Third on last month's Thirsk debut despite greenness; open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (9/2 -29%) Primrose Path |
9/2(-29%) | (6) Primrose Path 9/2, Twice-raced maiden and much better effort when second of 10 in maiden at Newbury (6f, good to firm) 19 days ago, running on. Can go well again. Improved from her debut when beaten a neck at Newbury 19 days ago; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/2 +50%) Pageant |
9/2(+50%) | (5) Pageant 9/2, Foaled January 17. Wootton Bassett filly. Dam, 2-y-o 6f winner, sister to smart winner up to 1¼m Antilles out of smart 11.4f/1½m winner Wonder of Wonders. Worth a market check. Something to like on breeding but stable has few winning 2yo newcomers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (6/1 -71%) Night In Paris |
6/1(-71%) | (4) Night In Paris 6/1, Twice-raced maiden. 4/5, third of 7 in novice at Ripon (6f, good to firm). Off 121 days. Hood on 1st time and very much one to consider. Not seen since turned over at odds-on at Ripon in May; hood on; watch market. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Magic Basma made a winning debut at Carlisle when getting the better of Khaldiya (third), but it would be no surprise if the latter were able to reverse the form with Kevin Ryan's filly carrying a 7lb penalty. The vote, though, goes to PRIMROSE PATH. The daughter of Kodiac took a decent step forward from her debut when just denied at Newbury last time and wouldn't need to improve all that much to go one better.
Little between the principals on form but Kevin Ryan's debut Carlisle scorer MAGIC BASMA looks open to a fair bit of progress so is fancied to follow up at the chief expense of Khaldiya. Primrose Path is another who needs factoring in, along with the returning Night In Paris.
This can go to MAGIC BASMA who is taken to confirm last month's Carlisle running with Khaldiya.

1st (7) (5/1 +44%) Kilteel |
5/1(+44%) | (7) Kilteel 5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 200/1, eighth of 14 in minor event at Newmarket (6f, soft) 24 days ago. Sizeable step forward will be needed if she's to make an impact now making the switch to a nursery. Well beaten in three starts on turf; may show improvement on nursery/AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (2/1 +27%) Wiesaam |
2/1(+27%) | (5) Wiesaam 2/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 50/1, last of 13 in novice at Windsor (6f, soft) 24 days ago. In good hands and worth a second look in the betting now pitched into a nursery for top connections with first-time blinkers enlisted. Well beaten in three starts on turf; may show more now switched to a nursery; blinkers on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (12/1 -167%) Elladora Black |
12/1(-167%) | (4) Elladora Black 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 9/1, fifth of 6 in nursery at Doncaster (6f, good to firm) 45 days ago. Makes tapeta debut and she could be an each-way contender if taking to this surface. Half-sister to two AW winners including one here; may find a bit more for the new surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (17/2 -113%) Lift Lady |
17/2(-113%) | (8) Lift Lady 17/2, 8/1, creditable third of 8 in nursery at Brighton (6f, good) 16 days ago. Makes tapeta debut and tongue strap on 1st time. Shapes as though this step back up in trip will help and she should be on the premises. Return to 7f should suit, but has already been beaten in five nurseries; tongue-tie on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (4/1 -14%) Harry Palmer |
4/1(-14%) | (6) Harry Palmer 4/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 8 in maiden (25/1) at Catterick (7f, good to firm) 42 days ago, again slowly away. Mark for this nursery debut is reasonable and he's not without hope. Well held in three starts on turf, but pedigree suggests the switch to the AW may suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (17/2 +6%) Darla's Secret |
17/2(+6%) | (2) Darla's Secret 17/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 10 in maiden at Thirsk (6f, good to firm, 40/1) 32 days ago, not knocked about. Needs to improve now upped in trip for this nursery debut. Out of the frame in three starts over 5f/6f; longer trip should suit on nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (33/1 -267%) Focus On Zaam |
33/1(-267%) | (3) Focus On Zaam 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 7 in nursery (12/1) at Ripon (5f, good to firm) 21 days ago, unsuited by emphasis on speed. Significantly up in trip on his first start on tapeta. Best effort when third at Ripon on penultimate start; longer trip and AW may suit. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Lift Lady arrives on the back of her best run to date when third at Brighton and the addition of a tongue-tie may yield further improvement, but a chance is taken on WIESAAM. The selection hasn't shown very much in three outings to date, but he represents a team in excellent form and it would be no surprise if first-time blinkers helped him on his nursery debut. Harry Palmer and Elladora Black head the remainder.
LIFT LADY has a race like this in her and could be the way to go in the hope a tongue tie can help her concentration. Harry Palmer needs to break better but could improve now handicapping and is feared. Wiesaam must make the shortlist also given her profile.
The selection is HARRY PALMER who looks interesting with his dam a sister to the smart Commander Cole who showed useful form on the AW.

18/1(+45%) | (10) Tasdeed 18/1, €140,000 yearling, 1,000 gns 2-y-o, Wootton Bassett colt. Closely related to French 7.5f-11f winner Le Duc. Dam, 2-y-o 6f/7f winner, half-sister to winner up to 9f Mystery Power. Wears blinkers and probably best watched on this occasion. Blinkered on debut and only of interest if attracting support. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (5/2 -43%) Trident |
5/2(-43%) | (11) Trident 5/2, No Nay Never gelding. Half-brother to several winners, including very smart Australian 5.5f-7f winner Zoustar and smart winner up to 1¾m Emperor of The Sun. Lots to like on paper and it will look significant if the market speaks in his favour. Nicely bred; market support on belated debut for leading stable would be significant. |

5/1(+29%) | (9) Jodhpur Blue 5/1, Twice-raced gelding. 6/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, third of 6 in novice at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) 52 days ago. Place possibilities on AW debut. Some promise in two Salisbury novices during the summer; handicaps may be more his thing. |

5/2(+38%) | (5) Boss Dog 5/2, Promising sort. 9/1, third of 10 in novice at Kempton (7f) 20 days ago, having run of race. Open to progress and likely to be on the premises. Improved from debut when a close third at Kempton last time; one of the likelier winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (13/2 -63%) Bamburgh |
13/2(-63%) | (3) Bamburgh 13/2, Twice-raced colt. 4/1, second of 4 in maiden at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) 17 days ago, no match for winner. His form is among the best on offer in this contest and should be in the mix, provided that he takes to this surface. Showed ability in both starts on turf last month; high on list if taking to Tapeta. |

6th (1) (9/2 -13%) Parthenopaeus |
9/2(-13%) | (1) Parthenopaeus 9/2, Twice-raced gelding. 6/1, third of 11 in novice at this course (8f) when last seen in February. Drop back to 7f shouldn't be an issue and he'll surely be involved in the finish, if fit enough to do himself justice. Placed twice here at the start of the year; each-way claims if returning in the same form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (25/1 -108%) Bereit |
25/1(-108%) | (4) Bereit 25/1, More Than Ready colt. Brother to 3 winners, including smart winner up to 1m Nemoralia and 7f winner Blue On Blue. Dam US winner up to 8.5f (2-y-o 6.5f winner). Worth a second look in the betting with Jamie Spencer booked. Unraced for Dermot Weld and new stable has few winning newcomers; worth a market check. |

8th (12) (150/1 -127%) Sky Lagoon |
150/1(-127%) | (12) Sky Lagoon 150/1, Once-raced filly. 80/1, seventh of 14 in novice at Southwell (7.1f) on debut 30 days ago. Hard to warm to. Midfield on her Southwell debut last month; may be one for handicaps in due course. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (50/1 -213%) Cable Beach |
50/1(-213%) | (7) Cable Beach 50/1, Once-raced gelding. 100/1, fifth of 10 in maiden at Southwell (7.1f) on debut in March, not knocked about. That experience won't be wasted on him and improvement is on the cards. Showed promise when fifth on his Southwell debut in March; watch market on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (200/1 -100%) Arc Tesoro |
200/1(-100%) | (2) Arc Tesoro 200/1, Once-raced gelding. Sixth of 8 in maiden at Southwell (8.1f, 50/1) on debut 14 days ago. Probably more one for handicaps in due course. Well-beaten sixth on his Southwell debut a fortnight ago; probably needs more time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (150/1 -50%) Glastonbury |
150/1(-50%) | (8) Glastonbury 150/1, Twice-raced gelding. 150/1, ninth of 12 in maiden at Southwell (6.1f) 18 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Another who will be of greater interest in handicaps later on. Well beaten in two Southwell maidens last month; looks one for handicaps after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (150/1 -200%) Boyd Crowder |
150/1(-200%) | (6) Boyd Crowder 150/1, Twice-raced gelding. Eighth of 14 in novice (28/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 30 days ago. Yard saddles a stronger candidate in Parthenopaeus. Out of the frame in both starts, running green each time; one for handicaps after this. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BOSS DOG took a big leap forward from his debut effort when making the frame at Kempton last month, and he should have plenty more to offer on only his third start. With Tom Marquand booked, he looks set for a big run. Bamburgh has shown ability on both of his starts to date, including his second at Beverley last time, and he is one to take seriously on his first all-weather start. Any market support for newcomer Trident would be interesting.
The hint should probably be taken if there is confidence behind newcomer TRIDENT in the betting. Indeed, he looks the part on paper and wouldn't need to be out of the ordinary to make a winning debut here. That said, Parthenopaeus, Bamburgh and Boss Dog (in order of preference) should all pick up a race before long judged on what they've shown, while Cable Beach's debut effort was not devoid of promise and he can be expected to leave that form well behind in time.
Given his pedigree and his connections, TRIDENT wouldn't have to be anything out of the ordinary to make a belated winning debut.

1st (3) (5/2 +62%) The Cookstown Cafu |
5/2(+62%) | (3) The Cookstown Cafu 5/2, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Ninth of 13 in handicap (6/1) at Pontefract (8f, good) 30 days ago. Makes tapeta debut and could be a factor if he puts his best foot forward on first run for respected new yard. Half-brother to a couple of useful AW winners and worth a market check on stable debut. |

2nd (10) (9/1 +10%) Novak |
9/1(+10%) | (10) Novak 9/1, C&D winner. Nineteen runs since last win in 2023. 9/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 7 days ago, racing closer to pace than ideal. Place possibilities. 1-22 here and losing run up to 19; others more solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/1 +38%) Patontheback |
10/1(+38%) | (6) Patontheback 10/1, C&D winner. Bit below form fifth of 12 in handicap (20/1) at Thirsk (7f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Others make more appeal. Won easily over C&D in August last year; solid chance if rediscovering that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (4/1 +11%) Windsor Pass |
4/1(+11%) | (12) Windsor Pass 4/1, Remains a maiden after 23 Flat runs. 28/1, creditable third of 11 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 14 days ago, slowly away. Down to a career-low mark and she's a strong candidate with Jamie Spencer aboard. 0-23; down another 2lb and interesting to see if Jamie Spencer can find the key to her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (9/1 -13%) Snash |
9/1(-13%) | (11) Snash 9/1, Course winner. 15/2, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 14 days ago, not ideally placed. Not without each-way hope. 4-9 on Tapeta and 7lb below his last winning mark; this stiffer 7f does pose a question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (10/1 -100%) Shaw Park |
10/1(-100%) | (1) Shaw Park 10/1, Three wins from 15 runs this year, the latest at Brighton in August. 4/1, fourth of 6 in handicap there (8f, good) 16 days ago. 1 lb lower now and should make his presence felt. In the frame in three of his four starts over C&D, but is 0-13 on the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (13/2 -136%) Five Winds |
13/2(-136%) | (2) Five Winds 13/2, Winner at Yarmouth in June. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable third of 10 in handicap (11/2) at Southwell (6.1f) 22 days ago. Likely to give another good account of herself. Has run well in both starts since returned to the AW; has a bit to prove over a stiff 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (10/1 -54%) Bicep |
10/1(-54%) | (7) Bicep 10/1, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 5/1, bit below form fifth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 7 days ago but he nevertheless enters calculations. Still 4lb lower than when winning over C&D last October; capable of playing a part. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (100/1 -300%) Too Much |
100/1(-300%) | (9) Too Much 100/1, Hooded for 1st time, sixth of 12 in handicap (22/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 30 days ago. Needs to raise her game. Unplaced in four starts for this yard, but ran better last time; needs to build on it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (66/1 -100%) Deputy |
66/1(-100%) | (4) Deputy 66/1, 25/1, ninth of 10 in handicap at Carlisle (6.9f, soft) 19 days ago. Makes tapeta debut and needs to bounce back in a major way. Has lost his way since last summer; best watched on Tapeta debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (28/1 -100%) Gobi Sunset |
28/1(-100%) | (8) Gobi Sunset 28/1, C&D winner. Sixteen runs since last win in 2023. Fifth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f, 12/1) 14 days ago. Has work to do. Front-runner and dual C&D winner, but losing run now up to 16; needs to do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (28/1 +30%) Autumn Festival |
28/1(+30%) | (5) Autumn Festival 28/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 33/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at Haydock (8.2f, good) 10 days ago. Readily passed over. Has lost his way and has never shown much aptitude for the AW in any case. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Windsor Pass lurks on an appealing mark and a repeat of her most recent third at Southwell should see her go well under Jamie Spencer. However, FIVE WINDS looks the more solid option. Jack Jones' four-year-old finished a close-up third at Southwell last time and is only 1lb higher. The step back up in trip shouldn't pose her any problems and she looks the one to beat. Snash is another to note.
While WINDSOR PASS now falls into the 'longstanding maiden' category, she has slipped to an attractive mark and is appealing back here (performed well both previous visits to this course) with Jamie Spencer booked on the back of creditable efforts at Newmarket and Southwell in recent weeks. Five Winds is proving pretty consistent and is next on the list with this step back up to 7f a potentially good move. Shaw Park, Snash and The Cookstown Cafu are others to consider.
The vote goes to PATONTHEBACK who would have a good chance if back to the form that saw him win easily over C&D in August last year.

1st (6) (11/2 -340%) Balqaa |
11/2(-340%) | (6) Balqaa 11/2, C&D winner. Improved on recent efforts to win 11-runner handicap at Southwell (8.1f, 15/8) 14 days ago, overcoming pace bias. It's unlikely that a 6 lb rise will be enough to stop her in her tracks. 2-19 here; respected despite 6lb rise for her Southwell success a fortnight ago. |

2nd (2) (9/2 +50%) Cuban Fiesta |
9/2(+50%) | (2) Cuban Fiesta 9/2, Respectable sixth of 13 in handicap at this course (7.1f, 14/1) 82 days ago, running on. First run for yard after leaving Ed Dunlop and it'll be interesting to see how he shapes up in the betting. 0-7 for Ed Dunlop; watch market on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (13/2 -30%) Tambourine Dream |
13/2(-30%) | (3) Tambourine Dream 13/2, 5/1, creditable third of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 13 days ago and could have a part to play off the same mark here, provided she is able to build on that. Twice placed in Polytrack handicaps; each-way claims if able to repeat that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (25/1 -56%) Carvalhal |
25/1(-56%) | (5) Carvalhal 25/1, Winner at Hamilton in August. 10/1, last of 13 in handicap at Hamilton (8.3f, soft) 13 days ago. Others look stronger. Bolted up at Hamilton last month, but a 7lb rise has seemed to find him out twice since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5/4 +50%) Love Warrior |
5/4(+50%) | (4) Love Warrior 5/4, First run since leaving Charlie Johnston when creditable second of 14 in handicap (3/1) at this C&D 7 days ago. Likely to be in the thick of things once more. Beaten a neck into second of 14 on stable debut over C&D a week ago; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (14/1 +58%) Meade Gold |
14/1(+58%) | (7) Meade Gold 14/1, Seventh of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f, 40/1) 12 days ago. Significantly back down in trip and he's readily passed over. Not within 7l of the winner in six starts; hard to know what his optimum trip is. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (28/1 -12%) Pop Favorite |
28/1(-12%) | (8) Pop Favorite 28/1, Five-time C&D winner. 40/1, twelfth of 14 in handicap at this C&D 7 days ago and looks set for another struggle. Five of his six wins have come over C&D, but not in the best of form lately. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (11/1 +31%) Dumfries |
11/1(+31%) | (1) Dumfries 11/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. 7/1, tenth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 18 days ago. Easy enough to look elsewhere. 1-17; out of the frame in all nine starts since returning for this yard in March. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Balqaa justified favouritism in this grade at Southwell earlier in the month and she should make a bold bid off a 6lb higher rating. However, TAMBOURINE DREAM looks the way to go. James Fanshawe's filly showed improved form when dropping to a mile and finishing third at Lingfield on her latest outing. With the promise of more to come over this distance, she could capitalise off an unchanged mark. Love Warrior is also respected.
BALQAA snapped a losing run stretching back nearly two years in good style at Southwell a fortnight ago and, with the perfect partner on board to execute the hold-up tactics that bring out the best in her, this 6 lb higher mark should be well within her reach. Love Warrior went down narrowly over C&D on debut for this yard last week and he is second choice ahead of Tambourine Dream.
This can go to LOVE WARRIOR who made such a promising stable debut when beaten a neck over C&D a week ago.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
