The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
PALLAS LORD has not been beaten far on each of his last two starts over C&D and this looks like as good an opportunity as any to regain the winning thread. The five-year-old gets the vote ahead of Captain St Lucifer, who deserves a change in luck having finished runner-up on his last three starts at Wolverhampton. Soaring Star has dropped down to a very workable mark and cannot be ruled out either.
PALLAS LORD can boast a course win and is able to race off the same mark as when a good recent C&D second so looks the way to go. Captain St Lucifer's record stands at 1-27 but he is still feared most on the back of his good Wolverhampton second, with course-scorer Bobby Shaftoe another who can have a say in an open handicap.
Ahead of the assessor and holding solid claims on his recent course form, PALLAS LORD (nap) looks poised to regain the winning thread.

1.1/1(+33%) | (3) Rhythm N Hooves 1.1/1, Second of 8 in minor event at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 7/2) on his debut 14 days ago, clear of rest. Open to improvement. Well in the mix.
2nd (4) (3.5/1 -5%) Oneforsue |
3.5/1(-5%) | (4) Oneforsue 3.5/1, Fair filly. Respectable second of 12 in minor event at Redcar (6f, soft, 17/2). Off 158 days. Makes tapeta debut. First run for yard after leaving Eric Alston. Leading form claims.

6th (1) (20/1 +60%) Paddy K |
20/1(+60%) | (1) Paddy K 20/1, Modest gelding. Creditable third of 10 in minor event at this C&D (11/2) 16 days ago, finishing well. Remains a maiden after 20 runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
RHYTHM N HOOVES must hold every chance if building on a strong runner-up effort on debut at Wolverhampton. Plenty of improvement can be expected on the back of that and he is taken to see off Jack Of Clubs, who should be well suited by dropping back in trip, and Oneforsue, who hasn't been seen since October. Beau Roc and One Of Our Own are capable of being in the mix as well.
ONEFORSUE possesses much the best form on offer so is fancied to make a winning start for Paul Midgley at the chief expense of Rhythm N Hooves, who can build on his promising debut second at Wolverhampton. Beau Roc and Jack of Clubs also look to have better days ahead of them and need factoring into an intriguing novice.
A tight race on the figures but the runner who looks open to the most progress is RHYTHM N HOOVES. Second choice is Beau Roc.

28/1(+15%) | (8) Shabaaby 28/1, Latest win at Dundalk in January. 33/1 and hooded for 1st time, first run since leaving J. F. Levins when last of 9 in handicap at this course (6f) 22 days ago. Needs a big step forward. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This can go the way of OUR ABSENT FRIENDS, who disappointed at Chelmsford last time out but was an easy winner over C&D on his penultimate start. The son of Camacho remains unexposed and should have too much for course specialist Kraken Power and Golden Rainbow, who should improve on his first run for new connections. Others to note include Glory Hallelujah, Murbih and Sir Benedict.
KRAKEN POWER is enjoying an excellent 2023 and is taken to bag a third C&D success on the back of his good recent second here. Murbih posted a career best when going in at Wolverhampton only three days ago and rates a big threat under a 5 lb penalty, while Golden Rainbow appeals as the pick of Paul Midgley's trio and can claim minor honours.
In-form KRAKEN POWER holds particularly solid claims. Our Absent Friends is feared most.

1st (3) (0.83/1 +17%) Elim |
0.83/1(+17%) | (3) Elim 0.83/1, Promising sort who filled runners-up spot in a 7f novice in October and matched that level when filling same spot in a C&D event 17 days ago. Feasible to think she can come on for that effort and she's high on the shortlist.
2nd (8) (2.75/1 +39%) Violeta |
2.75/1(+39%) | (8) Violeta 2.75/1, Fair filly who ran up to best (on back of 4 months off) when third in 5-runner C&D handicap 17 days ago. Boasts benefit of plenty of experience and good chance she can make her presence felt again.
3rd (5) (20/1 +39%) Forever Proud |
20/1(+39%) | (5) Forever Proud 20/1, Twice-raced filly. Seventh of 11 in maiden at Wolverhampton (7.2f) in November, pushed along over 2f out and late headway. Another likely type for handicaps.
4th (7) (6/1 -71%) Ubettabequick |
6/1(-71%) | (7) Ubettabequick 6/1, €350,000 yearling, Wootton Bassett filly. Half-sister to winner abroad by Elusive City and useful winner up to 7f Above. Dam 2-y-o 5f winner who stayed 7f from family of July Cup winner Owington. Makes appeal on paper and interesting what the market makes of her on debut.
5th (6) (16/1 +27%) Molly Mischief |
16/1(+27%) | (6) Molly Mischief 16/1, Twice-raced filly. 12/1, fourth of 9 in minor event at Southwell (7.1f) 70 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Ivan Furtado.

125/1(-89%) | (4) Eva Rosie 125/1, Coach House filly. Sister to 5f/6f winner Coach Party. Dam unraced half-sister to smart winner up to 9.5f Euro Charline. Yard not renowned for debutante winners.
7th (2) (8/1 -78%) Dome Of Stars |
8/1(-78%) | (2) Dome Of Stars 8/1, 68,000 gns foal, 40,000 gns yearling, Saxon Warrior filly. Dam 2-y-o 6f winner who stayed 1m. Interesting to see what the market makes of her on racecourse bow.
8th (1) (150/1 +0%) Aljardaa |
150/1(+0%) | (1) Aljardaa 150/1, Twice-raced mare. 150/1 and hooded for 1st time, first run since leaving John & Thady Gosden when sixth of 7 in minor event at this C&D 41 days ago, racing freely and never a threat. Low-grade handicaps entitled to be more her bag moving forward. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Violeta and Elim set the standard of those with previous experience and are likely to be thereabouts. However, it may be worth siding with UBETTABEQUICK, who looks the most appealing of the newcomers. At 350,000 euros, the daughter of Wootton Bassett was by far the most expensive purchase in here and, given that she is a half-sister to useful 6f/7f winner Above, she ticks the right boxes on paper. Dome Of Stars is also noted on debut.
ELIM has shaped with promise in filling the runner-up spot both starts to date, latterly in a C&D novice event 17 days ago, and, with the prospect of more to come, she gets the nod to make it third time lucky. Violeta has established herself as a fair performer and is feared, whilst the market should prove useful in assessing the chances of newcomers Dome of Stars and Ubettabequick.
Ubettabequick and Dome Of Stars are interesting newcomers. ELIM and Violeta are best of the runners with experience.

1.88/1(+16%) | (2) St Andrew's Castle 1.88/1, Capitalised on a tumbling mark over C&D earlier in the month and ran at least as well in defeat back here last week. Shortlisted.

13th (6) (33/1 -106%) Willing To Please |
33/1(-106%) | (6) Willing To Please 33/1, 8/1, not seen to best effect when ninth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 70 days ago, racing on unfavoured far side. Not dismissed back from a break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
ST ANDREW'S CASTLE, a winner here two starts ago, is 1lb well-in at the weights and could have a bit in hand over the opposition, some of whom are rivals that already have something to find. Hardy (fourth) is one of those, as he was a little over five lengths behind the selection when they met here 22 days ago. Elladora also comes into calculations.
ST ANDREW'S CASTLE has presumably been helped by the reapplication of cheekpieces and can strike again while the iron is hot. Hardy and Elladora head the opposition.
Judged on his recent C&D form, ST ANDREW'S CASTLE has the strongest chance. Hardy is second choice.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Papa Cocktail is dangerously well handicapped and should be monitored in the betting, while Satin Snake and Anif are closely matched judged on their recent efforts. However, LORD ABAMA caught the eye when he finished to good effect behind a progressive rival last week and he may do better now returned to this trip. A bold showing from the Profitable gelding looks assured.
PAPA COCKTAIL was a big eye-catcher off his much-reduced mark when third at Southwell 7 weeks ago (ran on strongly from a poor position), so looks ready to strike. This does look competitive, though, with Streak Lightning and Novak heading the dangers.

80/1(-300%) | (10) Henery Hawk 80/1, 11/2, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, good to firm). Off 9 months. First run for yard after leaving David & Nicola Barron. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
SLAINTE MHATH wasn't disgraced when fifth here earlier in the month on her first run since October, and the mare is capable of building on that performance especially with the cheekpieces reapplied. Final Account's recent course form, which includes a victory at the beginning of last month, gives him strong credentials, while others for the shortlist include One Hart and Tathmeen.
JEMS BOND quickly bounced back to her best when a close third here last week and should make another bold bid off the same mark. One Hart remains on a tempting mark on the pick of his recent form so is next best ahead of Final Account.
With the return to 6f looking ideal, ONE HART may be the answer. Final Account is second choice.
Ths is the racecard key.
