1st (2) (5/2 +17%) Secret Guest |
5/2(+17%) | (2) Secret Guest 5/2, Produced his best effort when winning at Redcar in September. Left behind a lesser effort when neck second of 9 to the reopposing Mighty Power in handicap (3/1) at this C&D 19 days ago. Major player. Has done all his winning on turf but last month's C&D second was arguably a career best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (12/1 +0%) Mondammej |
12/1(+0%) | (1) Mondammej 12/1, C&D winner but it's a long time since his last success. Creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (5f, 4/1) 12 days ago. Back up in trip with cheekpieces on 1st time, but others more persuasive for win purposes. Went close over C&D in November but remains without a win since 2021; cheekpieces tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (6/1 -20%) Mighty Power |
6/1(-20%) | (9) Mighty Power 6/1, After 4 months off, gained a third C&D victory when staying on to lead late in 9-runner handicap (14/1) at this C&D 19 days ago by neck from Secret Guest. Respected at this venue. Came from off pace for C&D win last month, after a break, and 3lb rise looks manageable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 +50%) The Turpinator |
4/1(+50%) | (3) The Turpinator 4/1, Successful here (7f) in December and has remained in good heart since, third of 10 in handicap (15/2) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 16 days ago. Could be thereabouts once more. Best known as a 7f/1m performer but was creditable fourth in Class 2 C&D race last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (33/1 -65%) Tremblant |
33/1(-65%) | (5) Tremblant 33/1, Winner at Deauville last summer for A. Fabre. In first-time cheekpieces, failed to come on for his stable debut when seventh of 11 in handicap (16/1) at Kempton (7f) 32 days ago. Needs to find more with tongue strap also applied. Won in France last summer and has shown enough on first two British starts to offer hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (9/1 -29%) Winter Crown |
9/1(-29%) | (8) Winter Crown 9/1, Course winner who doubled his tally at Nottingham in June. Not discredited when fifth of 10 in handicap at Chester (6.1f, heavy, 3/1) the following month. Could still have more to offer making only his second all-weather start. Absent since last summer but won after a layoff here in this month last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (16/1 -14%) Bellagio Man |
16/1(-14%) | (11) Bellagio Man 16/1, Latest win over C&D in September. Below-par effort when fifth of 6 in handicap (17/2) also at this C&D 8 days ago. Has dropped below his last winning mark as a result, though, with blinkers now the choice of headgear. C&D winner in September but unable to land a telling blow on either start last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (28/1 -40%) Gis A Sub |
28/1(-40%) | (12) Gis A Sub 28/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2021. Again below form when seventh of 11 in handicap at Chester (7f, soft, 12/1) in September. Makes tapeta debut on first run for yard after leaving Kevin Ryan (has had a wind op). Out of form for Kevin Ryan towards end of last summer; had wind op; stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (11/1 -10%) Starshiba |
11/1(-10%) | (6) Starshiba 11/1, Four wins (including twice at this course) from 18 runs last year. Below form seventh of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW, 14/1) 15 days ago. However, he's not discounted as he goes back down in grade/trip with visor reapplied. Didn't fire over 1m last month but won over 6f off this mark on stable debut in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (25/1 -127%) Manigordo |
25/1(-127%) | (10) Manigordo 25/1, Shaped well on first run since leaving Tim Easterby when fourth of 10 in handicap (11/2) at this C&D on his all-weather debut 86 days ago, making effort earlier than ideal. Interesting contender. Ran well over C&D on stable debut in November; not seen again since but still on good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (8/1 -33%) Gulliver |
8/1(-33%) | (7) Gulliver 8/1, Having dropped back to his last winning mark, fared best of those from the rear when fourth of 12 in handicap (9/2) at Chelmsford City (6f) 2 weeks ago. Needs everything to fall right. Tends to get going too late nowadays; may be reliant on others setting a very strong pace. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (4) (12/1 -200%) Petit Calvados |
12/1(-200%) | (4) Petit Calvados 12/1, Has proved better than ever of late with the cheekpieces reapplied, making it back-to-back wins when landing 6-runner handicap (3/1) at Chelmsford City (5f) 22 days ago. Not taken lightly in her current form. In-form mare who has won her last two over 5f and is also suited by 6f; likely contender. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The hat-trick seeking Petit Calvados has to be respected following victories at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford, but marginal preference is for GULLIVER. David O'Meara's veteran was a close-up fourth in a competitive event at Chelmsford two weeks ago and another good run can be expected off a 1lb lower mark. Mighty Power edged out Secret Guest over C&D recently and they have to enter the equation as well.
SECRET GUEST soon bounced back to form when denied only narrowly at this C&D last time and he can return to winning ways with a strongly-run race to suit. He is taken to reverse the placings with Mighty Power from when the pair met here 19 days ago, while Petit Calvados has thrived since the cheekpieces have gone back on and completes the shortlist.
He normally runs over further but THE TURPINATOR was a creditable fourth in a valuable C&D contest last month and gets the nod.

1st (2) (11/4 +58%) Cusack |
11/4(+58%) | (2) Cusack 11/4, 4-time course winner. Three wins from 16 runs last year. 9/2, creditable 1½ lengths third of 8 to Urban Road in handicap at this course (10.2f) 16 days ago. Back down in trip. Merits consideration. Four-time course winner and has continued to knock on the door; thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/1 -38%) Sycamore |
11/1(-38%) | (4) Sycamore 11/1, 18/1, improved on recent efforts to win 9-runner handicap at this C&D 16 days ago, staying on to lead dying strides after short of room over 1f out. Nudged up 3 lb and holds serious claims of following up if arriving in the same mood. Overcame a troubled passage to edge home over C&D two weeks ago so needs considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (5/1 +38%) Mercurius Power |
5/1(+38%) | (5) Mercurius Power 5/1, C&D winner in December. 15/2, wasted no time getting back to form when second of 11 in handicap at this C&D 13 days ago, clear of rest. Clear runner-up over C&D 13 days ago but the winner was 25-1 and that was a Class 6. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (20/1 -82%) Reel Prospect |
20/1(-82%) | (1) Reel Prospect 20/1, C&D winner in October. 5/1, looked a less-than-straightforward conveyance when 4 lengths sixth of 8 to Urban Road in handicap at this course (10.2f) 16 days ago, hanging badly left late on. Back down in trip. More required. Won his novice over C&D; no better than fifth in his three handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (13/2 +35%) Admiral Nelson |
13/2(+35%) | (8) Admiral Nelson 13/2, Course winner in December. Not seen to best effect when fourth of 7 in handicap at this course (7.1f, 3/1) 16 days ago, hampered start. Solid each-way claims. Beaten three times since his course win in Dec and he's 0-9 at 1m+. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (66/1 -313%) Covert Legend |
66/1(-313%) | (11) Covert Legend 66/1, 8/1, again ran below form when seventh of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 15 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Others more persuasive. His fourth three runs back offers hope and perhaps new cheekpieces will give him a lift. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (28/1 -180%) Glencalvie |
28/1(-180%) | (12) Glencalvie 28/1, Back on track on her first start in a 0-60 when winning 7-runner handicap (5/1) at Chelmsford City (8f) 3 days ago, responding well to edge ahead near line. Carries penalty. Doesn't look obviously well in with a penalty but this could be run to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (11/1 -22%) Aim For The Moon |
11/1(-22%) | (6) Aim For The Moon 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 8/1, showed plenty on first run since leaving John Butler when third of 6 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 18 days ago, never nearer. Has clearly been fragile but there could be more to come. Close up over Kempton's 1m on stable debut and has races in her off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (11/2 -22%) Urban Road |
11/2(-22%) | (3) Urban Road 11/2, Four wins from 15 runs last year. 10/3, career best when winning 8-runner handicap at this course (10.2f) 16 days ago, edging ahead near line after forced to switch over 2f out. Back down in trip. Narrow winner here recently but had a bit in hand; drop back to 1m fine off 2lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (16/1 -100%) Tio Mio |
16/1(-100%) | (7) Tio Mio 16/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in December. Again ran well when third of 9 in handicap (17/2) at same course (8.6f) 15 days ago, well positioned. Made a good start for Alex French with a first and third at Wolverhampton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (6/1 -33%) Once Adaay |
6/1(-33%) | (9) Once Adaay 6/1, 9/2, thriving at present and eked out a bit more improvement to resume winning ways in 11-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (8f) 2 weeks ago. Up 3 lb and should continue to give a good account. Record of 3-8 on the AW; confined to Class 6 handicaps thus far but he's in form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (28/1 -40%) Thunder Max |
28/1(-40%) | (10) Thunder Max 28/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2021. Last of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f, 12/1) 22 days ago, short of room briefly home turn. Others look stronger. Fair stable debut over C&D in December and perhaps Chelmsford didn't suit last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
In a wide-open event, the vote just goes to the unexposed AIM FOR THE MOON, who was only beaten a length into third over this trip at Kempton last time and can race off the same mark here. Once Adaay is an obvious threat following his success at Chelmsford two weeks ago, while surprise C&D scorer Sycamore is also dangerous. Others to consider are Tio Mio, Mercurius Power and Urban Road.
Having been relatively lightly raced in the last year or so, SYCAMORE bounced back to form when scoring over C&D just over 2 weeks ago and, on the back of a small rise in the weights, Scott Dixon's 7-y-o is taken to follow up at the expense of Cusack, who is more consistent than most at this level. Aim For The Moon and Tio Mio are another couple fancied to go well, also.
This looks well contested. Recent course winner URBAN ROAD could be the answer with the drop back to 1m of no concern.

1st (7) (9/2 +31%) Moon Flight |
9/2(+31%) | (7) Moon Flight 9/2, Winner at Wolverhampton in November. 13/8, respectable second of 9 over C&D 16 days ago, faring best of those ridden prominently. One to consider. Winner for Sir Mark Prescott and it's been a very solid start for this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/2 +78%) Jenever |
7/2(+78%) | (5) Jenever 7/2, Four wins from 13 runs last year, the latest over C&D in November. Run of good form came to a halt at Southwell in December but might bounce back after short break. Progressive last year and it was a rare blip at Southwell two months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (12/1 -118%) Quandary |
12/1(-118%) | (8) Quandary 12/1, Fairly useful form. Very good second of 8 in handicap (16/1) at Southwell (6f) 12 days ago. May have more to offer after only 6 starts. Probably ran her best race yet when going down narrowly at Southwell 12 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/1 -150%) Juicy |
10/1(-150%) | (2) Juicy 10/1, It took a while to get her to the track but she looks set to make up for lost time, winning Southwell maiden before second under a penalty in a novice at Chelmsford (both 5f) this winter. Lacks the experience of the many battle-hardened sprinters in this line-up but she's a useful prospect. Made all on debut and not disgraced with a penalty; open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5/1 +64%) Castan |
5/1(+64%) | (3) Castan 5/1, C&D winner in October. 8/1, below form seventh of 13 in handicap at Southwell (5f) 54 days ago. Had 54 days off but likely contender if on his game at a venue he likes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (13/2 +28%) Pockley |
13/2(+28%) | (4) Pockley 13/2, Unreliable individual. Three-time C&D winner, the latest in November. 16/1, respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5f) 28 days ago, nearest finish. Fair run last time at Wolverhampton; prefers it here with the stiffer finish in his favour. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (15/2 +17%) Nelson Gay |
15/2(+17%) | (6) Nelson Gay 15/2, C&D winner. 11/1, respectable fourth of 9 in C&D handicap 6 days ago. Course winner in fair form at the minute and should have a fighting chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (40/1 -150%) Majeski Man |
40/1(-150%) | (11) Majeski Man 40/1, Ended last year's turf campaign with a pair of runner-up efforts at Thirsk in August. Might have needed a recent outing here after 5 months off (had wind surgery) but he will need to leave that run well behind to get heavily involved here. Back from a break and wind surgery he was weak in the market and finished last here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (11/1 -69%) Khabib |
11/1(-69%) | (1) Khabib 11/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Southwell in November. 2/1, respectable third of 11 in handicap at Southwell (5f) 44 days ago. Enters calculations. C&D winner in the past and hasn't been far away in any of his last five races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (11/1 -22%) Dark Kestrel |
11/1(-22%) | (12) Dark Kestrel 11/1, Back on form for new yard when placed over C&D in recent weeks, going down by only neck latterly. Another to consider. Has gone close the last twice despite slow starts; could do with kicking that habit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (12/1 -50%) Rodborough |
12/1(-50%) | (9) Rodborough 12/1, Latest win at Southwell in January. 7/2, respectable fifth of 9 in handicap over C&D 16 days ago. Three wins at Southwell; fair effort here last time but now 0-5 at this track. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
JUICY only just failed to follow up her debut victory when second at Chelmsford last time, and both of those performances suggest that a mark of 78 should be workable so Richard Spencer's filly could take some stopping. The consistent Moon Flight is likely to be in the mix once again, while Night On Earth and Dark Kestrel also make the shortlist.
A competitive sprint. KHABIB has a really solid AW record and might be able to get his head back in front. Unexposed-pair Juicy and Quandary are obvious dangers, while Moon Flight and Dark Kestrel are also respected after good runner-up efforts over C&D last month.
The 4yo MOON FLIGHT (nap) travelled like a well-handicapped horse last time when paying the price for racing close to a strong pace.

1st (9) (10/3 +39%) Las Ramblas |
10/3(+39%) | (9) Las Ramblas 10/3, 250,000 gns yearling, Lope De Vega colt. Closely related to 1¼m winner Gumriyah and half-brother to several winners, including very smart winner up to 1¼m Legatissimo. Makes plenty of appeal on paper. Cost 250,000gns as a yearling and there are some smart winners in the family; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (6/4 -9%) Waleefy |
6/4(-9%) | (10) Waleefy 6/4, Night of Thunder half-brother to Baaeed and Hukum. Shaped well in a muddling contest when third of 6 in minor event at Lingfield (7f, AW) on debut 43 days ago. Open to plenty of improvement. Half-brother to Baaeed and from a poor position he showed plenty of promise at Lingfield. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 -50%) Parthenopaeus |
6/1(-50%) | (3) Parthenopaeus 6/1, Pivotal gelding. 14/1, second of 9 in minor event at this course (7.1f) on debut 13 days ago, faring best of those held up. Should have more to offer. Fared best of those held up when going close over 7f here 13 days ago (7f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (125/1 -525%) Sycamore Gap |
125/1(-525%) | (4) Sycamore Gap 125/1, Mid-field in a bumper and finished only seventh of 9 in minor event at this course (7.1f, 40/1) on flat debut 13 days ago. Others preferred. Work to do with Parthenopaeus on their recent clash here over 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (15/8 -7%) Tournelle |
15/8(-7%) | (6) Tournelle 15/8, Promising individual. 6/4, won 9-runner maiden at this course readily (7.1f) on debut 19 days ago, travelling fluently. Sets a good standard on that effort. Fav when a cosy winner here on debut; penalised against the boys but clearly useful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (25/1 -56%) Letsbefrank |
25/1(-56%) | (1) Letsbefrank 25/1, Frankel gelding, half-brother to top-class Fascinating Rock. Third of 6 in minor event (13/2) at Epsom (10.1f, good to firm) on debut, slowly away. Off 126 days. Down in trip. Left John Butler 35,000 gns in October. Should improve. Left John Butler for 35,000gns after finishing an encouraging third on Epsom debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (200/1 -300%) Musical Masquerade |
200/1(-300%) | (2) Musical Masquerade 200/1, Unplaced in pair of bumpers and offered little on Flat debut when seventh of 9 in maiden at Southwell (8.1f) 12 days ago. Beaten 20l+ in two bumpers and again comfortably held on Flat debut at Southwell (1m). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (200/1 -700%) Ashkhabad |
200/1(-700%) | (5) Ashkhabad 200/1, Down the field in pair of bumpers. Eighth of 9 in minor event (150/1) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) on flat debut 28 days ago. Easy to look elsewhere. Down the field in two bumpers and the same again on Flat debut at Wolverhampton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (250/1 -213%) Ideal Dragon |
250/1(-213%) | (8) Ideal Dragon 250/1, Dragon Dancer colt. Too green to show anything when eighth of 9 in minor event at this course (7.1f, 125/1) on debut 13 days ago. Impossible to fancy. Always behind 13 days ago and he's comfortably held by a couple of these on that showing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (125/1 -400%) Little Venice |
125/1(-400%) | (11) Little Venice 125/1, Cityscape filly. 100/1, sixth of 9 in maiden at this C&D on debut 16 days ago. Will be of more interest in handicaps. Only sixth of nine on C&D debut and never really figured at odds of 100-1. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (200/1 -150%) Coramento |
200/1(-150%) | (7) Coramento 200/1, Portamento gelding. Green when eighth of 10 in minor event at Southwell (7.1f, 250/1) on debut 54 days ago. Hard to fancy. In the rear throughout when 250-1 for his debut at Southwell (7f). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Denied by just a neck on his belated debut over 7f here 13 days ago, PARTHENOPAEUS created a favourable impression and can go one place better, with the longer trip likely to suit the son of Pivotal. There should also be more to come from Waleefy who, like the selection, dwelt at the start on his first outing but ought to be wiser for the experience. Course maiden winner Tournelle is another to consider now upped in distance.
WALEEFY is from an outstanding family and showed plenty of ability in a stop-start contest at Lingfield on debut, so he's taken to make his second start a winning one. Tournelle made a fine start to her career when landing a 7f maiden here last month and merits plenty of respect under a penalty, whilst Juddmonte-newcomer Las Ramblas also makes appeal.
An interesting novice but Baaeed's half-brother WALEEFY was a big eyecatcher on his debut at Lingfield and could take some stopping.

22/1(+45%) | (6) Lion Tower 22/1, Course winner. Tenth of 12 in handicap at this course (8f, 28/1) 81 days ago. Needs to get back on track. Hasn't made the frame for a while now and it was a struggle here last time in November. |

7/1(-17%) | (11) Benavente 7/1, Latest win at Dundalk in November. Creditable second of 11 in handicap (3/1) at Dundalk (10.7f) 44 days ago. Significantly back down in trip. Much respected on his tapeta debut. Irish raider who has been paying his way at Dundalk (1m/1m2f); may need further now. |

12/1(-50%) | (3) Zip 12/1, 3-time C&D winner. Three wins from 13 runs last year. Latest win at Doncaster in October. Creditable fifth of 13 in handicap (14/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 26 days ago. Needs considering. Multiple winner who is running well but he's stuck on a tough mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (8/1 -7%) Swiss Ace |
8/1(-7%) | (9) Swiss Ace 8/1, 3-time C&D winner. Latest win here in December. 11/4, shaped well when fifth of 9 in handicap at this course (8f) 13 days ago, finding test too much. Player now reverted in trip. In competitive form until his recent fifth here when getting no cover. |

7th (8) (50/1 -213%) Zozimus |

22/1(-120%) | (14) Charencey 22/1, Course winner in November. Ninth of 12 in handicap at this course (7.1f, 7/2) 58 days ago so has work to do. 6f course winner; lost his action returned to 7f last time; chance if forgiven that. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Ultra-tough, The Caltonian is shortlisted despite his winning spree coming to an end with a comprehensive defeat inflicted by an improving rival in an apprentice handicap here last weekend. However, JOHNNY JAMES is far less exposed than the majority and looks worth chancing from a potentially competitive mark. Keep an eye on Oliver Show too.
Lots with chances. SWISS ACE caught the eye when fifth over 1m here last time out and looks the way to go now back at 7f. Chantico figures on a handy mark and rates a big threat if, as expected, building on his Wolverhampton seventh. The Caltonian must enter calculations too in this competitive handicap.
The lightly raced OLIVER SHOW was perhaps unlucky not to collect on only his second run for George Boughey and he might be the answer.

33/1(-267%) | (2) Autumn Flight 33/1, Modest gelding. Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. 9/1, creditable third of 9 in minor event at Lingfield (6f, AW) 9 days ago. Set honest pace before keeping on for close third in this grade at Lingfield recently. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
SECRET DAAY has been threatening to win a race of this nature of late and has another chance to shine on the back of four placed efforts from his last five starts. He was only a head behind Blackcurrent when they took minor honours in a similar contest over C&D last month and he can turn the form around. Autumn Flight is another to consider.
A weak but open event with the vote going to 6-time course winner BLACKCURRENT, who was a good fourth in a better race than this over C&D 10 days ago. One For The Ladies and Secret Daay head the dangers.
With competition for the early lead likely, this could be run to suit MISS CALCULATION. Several others are considered, though.

9/1(-80%) | (1) Henery Hawk 9/1, 13/2, career best when winning 6-runner handicap at this C&D 13 days ago, suited by way race developed and ultimately winning comfortably. Good pace to aim at here will aid his cause. Took form to whole new level with comfortable C&D win last month; hiked up 9lb for that. |

14/1(+13%) | (11) Sir Benedict 14/1, Twenty runs since last win in 2022. Last of 9 in minor event at this course (6f, 11/2) 8 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Previous effort over C&D was encouraging and better showing not ruled out. Arrested decline with second in C&D classified last month; well beaten in that grade since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (7/2 +50%) Urban Dandy |
7/2(+50%) | (3) Urban Dandy 7/2, C&D winner. 10/3, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at this C&D 8 days ago, ridden over 1f out and not quicken. Not taken lightly. Consistent 4yo who is now 1lb below last winning mark; probably in the mix again. |

7th (5) (9/4 +0%) King Of The Jungle |
9/4(+0%) | (5) King Of The Jungle 9/4, 4-y-o who has found some improvement of late, landing back-to-back C&D handicaps, the latest 19 days ago by ½ length from re-opposing Urban Dandy. Entitled to thereabouts again from 3 lb higher mark. Has won his last two over C&D and could quite plausibly have more improvement to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (28/1 -331%) Amber Dew |
28/1(-331%) | (8) Amber Dew 28/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, didn't need to improve to win 6-runner handicap (9/2) at Southwell (6.1f) 17 days ago, doing little in front and just holding on. Still, that may not prove her limit for this yard. Narrow 6f winner at Southwell last month but this race looks much more competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (33/1 -106%) One Last Hug |
33/1(-106%) | (10) One Last Hug 33/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in December. Eighth of 9 in handicap back at that venue (6.1f, 11/2) 20 days ago, not ideally placed from his wide draw. Kept on for narrow 6f Tapeta win in December but didn't fire last time; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (9/1 -29%) Tilsworth Ony Ta |
9/1(-29%) | (2) Tilsworth Ony Ta 9/1, Career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (5f, 6/1) 14 days ago, challenging 1f out and leading late on. Not out of things provided she keeps the tardy starts at bay. Career-best effort when battling on well to score at Chelmsford last month; up 3lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (40/1 -100%) Mrs Trump |
40/1(-100%) | (9) Mrs Trump 40/1, Maiden who went close on a couple of occasions in 5f handicaps last year. 16/1, shaped as if she'd come on for the run when tenth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 28 days ago, ridden entering straight and fading. Not ruled out from further reduced mark. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Back from break with low-key run last month; needs help from the first-time cheekpieces. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
HENERY HAWK fairly bolted up over C&D last month and a 9lb rise may not be enough to stop Linda Perratt's charge putting on a show once more. Tilsworth Ony Ta has been nudged up 3lb for a victory at Chelmsford and he was all out to score on that occasion so a bit more will be required to take the gold medal here. This step back down to the minimum trip may help Amber Dew, who just held on over 6f at Southwell.
KING OF THE JUNGLE has found some improvement at a low level of late, landing back-to-back C&D handicaps, proving determined when seeing off re-opposing Urban Dandy by ½ length 19 days ago. He gets the narrow vote to continue the good work and complete the hat-trick. Mehmo and Mrs Trump are others worth a look, whilst Amber Dew isn't dismissed either.
After racing freely when placed over 6f here last month, ENDERMAN looks interesting on his first 5f start since his 2yo season.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (50/1 -456%) Ben Dikduk |
50/1(-456%) | (3) Ben Dikduk 50/1, Sixth of 9 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 4/1) 32 days ago. Down in trip. First run for yard after leaving Kevin Philippart De Foy. Worth a market check. 12-race maiden with tendency to race too freely; changed hands for 4,000gns last month. |

12th (5) (25/1 -257%) Doctor Mozart |
25/1(-257%) | (5) Doctor Mozart 25/1, Four wins from 22 runs last year. Latest win at Wolverhampton in December. 5/2, ninth of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f) 14 days ago. Others more persuasive. Flopped when favourite a fortnight ago but generally in good form since the autumn. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
STALLONE kept on well to prevail over C&D last month and, back in handicap company, he may be able to get his head in front once again. Basholo dispatched of a subsequent winner over 5f at Wolverhampton last month and after finishing fifth at Southwell subsequently, she may be able to bounce back to form. The handicapper let Crocodile Power off scot-free after a solid third over 5f at Chelmsford and he can make the frame again.
BONITO CAVALO is thriving and completed a 4-timer here on Friday, Drop in trip shouldn't trouble him. Crocodile Power is one to consider following a strong finish at Chelmsford and Phoenix Star can't be ruled out.
Bonito Cavalo can't be opposed with any confidence but CROCODILE POWER didn't get the best of runs when going close at Chelmsford.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
