9/4(+50%) | (1) Last Encore 9/4, Twice-raced maiden. 11/4, third of 11 in maiden at Sligo (5.7f, soft) 22 days ago. Makes handicap debut for leading stable. Two solid maiden runs; one to consider on h'cap debut with a good value claimer booked. |

10/3(-33%) | (3) Gloriously Glam 10/3, Lightly-raced winner. 9/2 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, career best when winning 13-runner nursery at Sligo (5.7f, soft) 22 days ago, easily. Obvious claims again. Made a mockery of her opening mark when an easy Sligo nursery winner; this tougher up 12lb. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (5/1 +23%) James The Second |
5/1(+23%) | (10) James The Second 5/1, Creditable 6¾ lengths fifth of 13 to Gloriously Glam in nursery (4/1) at Sligo (5.7f, soft) 22 days ago, worst of draw. Respected. Not bad runs in nurseries last twice but needs more from 1lb out of the h'cap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (28/1 -40%) Dance For Chester |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

20/1(0%) | (6) Hugo's Girl 20/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 5 in nursery at the Curragh (6f, good to firm, 18/1) 40 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Tongue strap on 1st time. Decent on first two maiden runs but was well beaten on h'cap debut last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

80/1(-142%) | (11) Ink Sketch 80/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 250/1, last of 15 in maiden at Cork (6f, good) 76 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Not easy to make a case for. Promise on debut but poor twice since; not much appeal from 5lb out of the h'cap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
PEREGRINE FALCON appeals on her first try in handicap company. Successful in a barrier trial at Naas in May, she finished third after attempting to make all on her official debut. Thought good enough to take her chance in the Albany at Royal Ascot, she finished down the field there, before again failing to make a significant impact on her most recent start. Out of a sister to dual-Group 1 winner Fascinating Rock, she is fitted with a tongue-strap for the first time now and it'll be disappointing if she's not involved towards the business end. Easily dismissing her rivals at Sligo earlier this month, Gloriously Glam is given second preference, while her stable companion Wise Men Say also warrants respect. The highest rated runner in the line-up, Last Encore looks to have strong claims, while James The Second and Hugo's Girl (first time tongue-strap) are others for the shortlist.
WISE MEN SAY had an excuse in a valuable sales race at Naas last time and looks well treated judged on his Cork win prior to that. His stablemate Gloriously Glam scored so easily at Sligo last time that even a 13 lb rise doesn't leave her handicapped out of things. James The Second had the worst of the draw when fifth to Gloriously Glam at Sligo and should get closer to her this time.
Unusually, LAST ENCORE is able to run in a nursery after only two maiden starts and he can get off the mark with a top claimer

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (40/1 -21%) Harry's Bar |
40/1(-21%) | (7) Harry's Bar 40/1, Creditable 1¼ lengths fourth of 9 to Collective Power in handicap (6/1) at Dundalk (6f). Off 6 months. First run for yard after leaving Adrian McGuinness. Not taken lightly. All 15 wins have come on AW, 0-16 on turf, placed only once, hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (18/1 +28%) Bid For Chester |
18/1(+28%) | (2) Bid For Chester 18/1, C&D winner. Latest win at the Curragh in April. 22/1, respectable tenth of 16 in handicap at Galway (7f, soft) 25 days ago. Work to do. Won over 5f at the Curragh in April but has been well beaten in three subsequent outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (12/1 -9%) National Lady |
12/1(-9%) | (8) National Lady 12/1, 2 wins from 6 runs this year. Latest win at Naas in July. 7/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Cork (7f, good to firm) 13 days ago. Others more appealing. 6f Naas winner in July, struggled in a Listed race, unplaced in a Cork handicap last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (3) (80/1 -100%) New Definition |
80/1(-100%) | (3) New Definition 80/1, 28/1, last of 13 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, good to firm) 62 days ago. Easy enough to look elsewhere. Lost form towards the end of his time for James Tate, has struggled in four Irish starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Eddie Lynam saddles three of the 15 in this competitive affair. Bidding to complete a four-timer, the progressive KEKE is the standout name of his representatives. Successful when drawn widest of all over the course and distance in June, he is again in the outside stall and upped just 3lb for his latest win at the Curragh, the Dandy Man bay might still be ahead of the assessor. Universally, who has already won twice this season, is likely to enter calculations, while others for the shortlist include Mehman and Moltophino.
KEKE continues on an upward curve and his habit of winning by narrow margins has helped to protect his handicap mark. He makes plenty of appeal. Transcendental and Universally head the list of dangers.
The progressive KEKE began his winning sequence drawn wide at this venue. He is again on the outside and may make it four in a row

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (20/1 -43%) Island Girl |
20/1(-43%) | (8) Island Girl 20/1, Once-raced filly. Fifth of 10 in maiden (15/2) at Naas (5f, good) on debut 64 days ago, slowly away. Should improve. Should be better for the experience of Naas debut in June, started slowly and met trouble. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (33/1 -32%) Annie Lavinia |
33/1(-32%) | (7) Annie Lavinia 33/1, Once-raced filly. Ninth of 17 in maiden (8/1) at the Curragh (6f, good to firm) on debut 12 days ago. Showed her inexperience on her debut at the Curragh but the run was not without merit. |

With no Treasure Isle to contend with, SARATOGA SPECIAL might be able to take this. Second to the aforementioned Aidan O'Brien-trained colt on her two starts to date, the latest of which was a Listed heat, she looks to have an easier task on her hands now. Jessica Harrington is responsible for the selection and also saddles the 85-rated Passing Phase. Beaten just half-a-length by Sir Yoshi when last seen at Tipperary in May, he had the useful Rudi's Apple a place behind. Snapdragon is the other standout name in the line-up. A £240,000 yearling purchase, the No Nay Never colt was collared close home over 6f at the Curragh recently and should be suited by the drop to 5f. Barrier trial winner Town And Country and Naas fifth Island Girl are others of interest.
SARATOGA SPECIAL sets the bar high for a race like this on her recent second in a Curragh listed contest and should get off the mark at the third time of asking. Snapdragon and the selection's stablemate Passing Phase can fill the places.
Twice runner-up to the same Ballydoyle-trained opponent, SARATOGA SPECIAL(nap) can go one better at the main expense of Snapdragon

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

11/4(+0%) | (5) Mighty Day 11/4, Twice-raced colt. Sixth of 16 in maiden at Gowran (7f, good, 12/1) 15 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Solid Galway debut on easy ground but not as good on quicker at Gowran; down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

40/1(-21%) | (2) J M's Joy 40/1, Twice-raced filly. 125/1, last of 7 in maiden at Dundalk (8f) 14 days ago. Well beaten in two maidens and looks up against it on these terms. |

6/4(+55%) | (1) Baltray Lady 6/4, Twice-raced filly. 3/1, good second of 4 in minor event at Roscommon (7.5f, heavy) 9 days ago. In the picture. Better effort when 2nd over 7f on heavy at Roscommon; chance if as good on this ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (17/2 -113%) Dr Ali |
17/2(-113%) | (7) Dr Ali 17/2, Lightly-raced gelding. Seventeenth of 18 in maiden at Leopardstown (7.1f, good, 20/1) 7 days ago. Stable in good form so could bounce back with blinkers added. A fine 3rd on debut over 6f here but has gone backwards since and disappointing a week ago. |

16/1(-78%) | (3) Senior Montecristo 16/1, Twice-raced gelding. 50/1, fourth of 6 in maiden at Galway (8.3f, soft) 26 days ago. Needs another step forward. A well beaten 4th in a Galway maiden last time and has to do much more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (150/1 -200%) Show Your Workings |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (40/1 -21%) Udacha |
40/1(-21%) | (8) Udacha 40/1, Thrice-raced gelding. 125/1, thirteenth of 17 in maiden at Leopardstown (7f, good) 42 days ago. Best of three maiden runs at Leopardstown last time but has a tough task on these terms. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The James Barrett-trained MIGHTY DAY has shaped well enough on both starts to date to suggest he can make it third time lucky. Fifth on his racecourse debut at Galway earlier in the month, the U S Navy Flag colt then backed that up with another solid effort at Gowran Park last time. Granted normal improvement from those initial runs, he should be hard to beat in this grade. Baltray Lady, who finished behind the selection at Galway on debut, improved to finish runner-up at Roscommon on her second outing. However, at her claiming price, she is worse off at the weights with the selection. Dr Ali needs to improve on what he has shown to date, but trainer Ger Lyons places his horses extremely well in these races so the gelding has to be respected.
RUNNINSONOFAGUN holds the edge on form so is taken to open his account at the chief expense of Mighty Day, who rates next best on the figures. Baltray Lady and Dr Ali appeal as the duo who can fight it out for minor honours.
Solid in three maidens runs, including when running on over 6f here last time, RUNNINSONOFAGUN can stay this trip and get off the mark.

16/1(-60%) | (8) Punk Poet 16/1, Excellent fourth of 19 in handicap at Naas (5.9f, good to soft, 66/1) 36 days ago, running on. Significantly back up in trip. Hood on 1st time. Looks competitive on form. Much better known for his Dundalk exploits, shaped well on turf on seasonal debut; hooded. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
While a wide draw is an obvious cause for concern, SEA CHARIOT still looks one of the stronger contenders. The John Joseph Murphy-trained four-year-old should appreciate stepping back up to a mile here having stayed on strongly when third over 7f at Naas last time. Although both career wins have come on the all-weather at Dundalk, the gelding also has some solid form on turf. Annexation is drawn widest of all the runners, but, as a confirmed hold-up horse, that may not be as much of a negative. Expect to see Billy Lee thread his way through the field on the long uphill climb to the finish. The lightly raced Bucaneer's Spirit is one of the lesser exposed contenders. A winner at Cork earlier this month, the three-year-old could still be ahead of the handicapper.
PUNK POET caught the eye dropped down to a barely adequate trip on return from 8 months off when fourth at Naas and could be the answer returned to a suitable distance. This does look competitive, though, with Nituna, Bucaneer's Spirit and Imposing Supreme heading the dangers.
From a low draw IMPOSING SUPREME gets the vote to supplement a Galway festival win achieved off 5lb lower.

1st (1) (3/1 +70%) Northern Sonas |
3/1(+70%) | (1) Northern Sonas 3/1, 14/1, respectable seventh of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (12f) 48 days ago. Merits consideration. Two placed maiden runs on heavy earlier in year; has to improve on h'cap form but down 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (13/2 +54%) Preparations |
13/2(+54%) | (3) Preparations 13/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Fifteenth of 18 in handicap at Galway (12f, good to soft, 10/1) 28 days ago. Some decent maiden runs but has to rebound from a poor Galway handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (33/1 +34%) Maxwell Smart |
33/1(+34%) | (9) Maxwell Smart 33/1, Eleventh of 12 in handicap (66/1) at Bellewstown (8f, good) 56 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Can give a good account if shrugging off latest effort. Well beaten all starts up to a mile; has to improve loads for step up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (12/1 +25%) Lightning Legs |
12/1(+25%) | (6) Lightning Legs 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 50/1, ninth of 12 in handicap at Limerick (8f, good) 53 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Not easy to make a case for. Found a mile too sharp on handicap debut last time and can better that up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (11/4 +50%) Highland Bells |
11/4(+50%) | (8) Highland Bells 11/4, Good 5½ lengths second of 9 to Empress Alma in handicap (9/1) at Down Royal (13f, good) 41 days ago. Well in the mix eased 1 lb. Beaten 5.5l by Empress Alma last time but is 12lb better off today so can get closer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/2 -13%) Gregorina |
9/2(-13%) | (4) Gregorina 9/2, 7/2, career best when winning 13-runner handicap at Hamilton (12.1f, good) 16 days ago, driven out. Up 6 lb but she's not taken lightly in her current mood. Won over 1m4f at Hamilton last time; 6lb rise to deal with and unproven over this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (4/1 +80%) T Or Coffey |
4/1(+80%) | (5) T Or Coffey 4/1, Tongue strap/cheekpieces on for 1st time in this code, good third of 14 in juvenile hurdle at Killarney (17f, soft, 80/1) on NH debut 7 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. Disappointing on last Flat start at Sligo; good hurdle run since and has to build on that. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Although unable to complete the hat-trick when only fifth at Galway last month, EMPRESS ALMA can resume winning ways. The Gavin Cromwell-trained filly ran on strongly close home in a manner that suggested she will enjoy this stiffer test. Given that that latter race was in a much higher grade, the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor should find this assignment easier. Highland Bells was no match for Empress Alma at Down Royal on his most recent outing but is considerably better off at these weights. If he has improved in the interim, the Michael Mulvany-trained gelding can get much closer. Recent Hamilton winner Gregorina will find this harder but has to be respected on the back of that success.
A tight-knit handicap in which EMPRESS ALMA edges the vote on the back of her good Galway fifth when set a lot to do. Hamilton scorer Gregorina heads the list of dangers, although in-form trio Highland Bells, Northern Sonas and Fine Print all need factoring in too.
Having gone close over just short of this trip at Sligo last time, FINE PRINT can get off the mark off 1lb lower.

That was a sound return from an absence. Fine effort on return over 2m at Tramore and if improving from that should play a part. |

11/2(+27%) | (12) Lady Kai 11/2, 11/4 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, career best when winning 12-runner handicap at Killarney (11.5f, good) 43 days ago, cosily. 16/1(-78%) | (4) Elzaamsan 16/1, Finally got off the mark in 10-runner handicap at Leopardstown (15f, good to firm) 21 days ago, well on top finish. Retains handicap scope. Given a clever ride from the front to win last time; unlikely to get his own way today. |

12/1(-50%) | (5) Butterfly Garden 12/1, Snapped losing sequence in 11-runner handicap at Tramore (12f, good to soft) 12 days ago. 7 lb rise asks a new question but she's clearly in good order. A 7lb rise for Tramore win is stiff but has run well over C&D off a higher mark before. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (16/1 +20%) Bynx |
16/1(+20%) | (10) Bynx 16/1, 11 lengths seventh of 11 to Butterfly Garden in handicap (13/2) at Tramore (12f, good to soft) 12 days ago. Should strip fitter with that under her belt. Well held on Flat return at Tramore lately; can improve but others preferred. |

100/1(-100%) | (21) Santa Catarina 100/1, Fell in novice hurdle at Sligo (17.8f, soft, 28/1) on NH debut 21 days ago. Tongue strap back on and she's going the wrong way on the level. Regressive maiden fell early on hurdling debut last time; not easy to make a case for. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Although successful just once from 31 starts, ENQUIRE WITHIN has been running well enough to suggest that she can make her presence felt. A definite positive is the fact that her sole win came over course and distance. Wesley Joyce, who was in the saddle on that occasion, has also been booked for the ride here. The well-bred Lady Kai landed some tidy bets when making a winning reappearance at Killarney last month. Only 5lb higher now, the Ross O'Sullivan-trained mare might be improving fast enough to overcome that rise. On the evidence of his latest two starts, Tannery Park should really appreciate this stiff test of stamina. His trainer Barry Connell was amongst the winners on the Flat at Roscommon recently.
A big field but the eye is drawn to EAGLES REIGN, who was talented enough to finish second in a Fred Winter and on that basis, his Flat mark looks very lenient back from a break. Elzaamsan and Paradise Lost are a couple of potential threats.
Though raised 5lb for winning over 1m4f at Killarney last time, LADY KAI can improve enough from that seasonal debut and score again.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
