1st (1) (6/5 +66%) Bottler'secret |
6/5(+66%) | (1) Bottler'secret 6/5, Quickly developed into a useful Flat performer for Ciaran Murphy, winning 7-runner handicap at this course (10.5f, heavy, 14/1) when last seen in October. Interesting recruit to hurdles but this is a tough starting point. Two Flat wins for Ciaran Murphy, a noteworthy recruit to a top team, holds a Triumph entry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/2 +50%) Pacini |
5/2(+50%) | (3) Pacini 5/2, Lightly-raced winner over hurdles. 11/4, third of 5 in juvenile hurdle at this course (15.8f, heavy) 15 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Tame effort in third in a rated event here last time, second-string for Wodhooh's trainer. |

11/4(+50%) | (4) Trustyourinstinct 11/4, Useful winner at 10f on flat. Hooded for 1st time, fourth of 7 in juvenile (7/1) at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) on hurdle debut 43 days ago. Open to improvement. Two Flat wins, did not look like a natural jumper on his hurdling debut at Fairyhouse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/1 +50%) Churchwarden |
10/1(+50%) | (2) Churchwarden 10/1, Fair maiden on the Flat. Twice-raced maiden. 16 lengths fifth of 8 to Liari in juvenile hurdle at Musselburgh (15.6f, good to soft, 16/1) 21 days ago. Placed at Musselburgh, hard to see him being a match for the winners in this field. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
WODHOOH remains unbeaten over hurdles after an impressive victory in a Listed race at Doncaster last month, and the daughter of Le Havre can confirm her place in Gordon Elliott's Cheltenham Festival team with another win here. Trustyourinstinct could only manage fourth on his hurdling bow at Fairyhouse but with that experience under his belt, he may prove to be the main danger to the selection. Better can be expected from Pacini now sporting cheekpieces for the first time.
WODHOOH looks a real professional and can take the step up to Graded level in her stride and stretch her unbeaten hurdle record to 6. Trustyourinstinct is open to progress on the back of his Fairyhouse hurdle debut fourth and may give the selection more to do than her stablemate Pacini.
Hurdling newcomer Bottler'secret is potentially interesting, but the experienced WODHOOH looks capable of extending her sequence

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
In a race where numerous contenders appear to have untapped potential, it may pay to side with French recruit TOUNSIVATOR. Successful over 1m3f and 1m4f on the level, he makes his debut for the Willie Mullins stable and it will be no surprise if he is able to get off the mark at the first time of asking. Pen To Paper, an 88,000-euro purchase, warrants respect on his debut for astute connections, while Shoot The Blues remains open to improvement after finishing a creditable second on his hurdling debut at Fairyhouse.
SHOT THE BLUES gets the vote on the back of his promising effort at Fairyhouse last month, although a strong market move for the Willie Mullins-trained French Flat recruit Tounsivator would put a slightly different slant on things. Bumper winner Rainbow Trail is surely a lot better than he showed on hurdle debut and may prove best of the rest.
Second to a Willie Mullins-trained favourite on his hurdling debut at Fairyhouse, bumper winner SHOOT THE BLUES can go one better now.

Remains unexposed at this sort of trip and respected for all this rates tougher. Tackles 2m4f for the first time since going chasing, possibly the pick of owner's runners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (8/1 -23%) Shantreusse |
8/1(-23%) | (2) Shantreusse 8/1, Strong in the betting and unlucky to bump into a handicap blot on return at Navan (20.5f) in December. 5/1(-25%) | (6) Evies Vladimir 5/1, 2 wins from 4 runs this season. 11/10, career best when winning 6-runner handicap chase at Fairyhouse (21.3f, heavy) 18 days ago. Yard in good form. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (13/2 -117%) La Malmason |
13/2(-117%) | (3) La Malmason 13/2, Latest win in chase at Cheltenham in December. Fourth of 6 in handicap chase (6/5) at Punchestown (22.1f, soft) 20 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Trainer going well and unlikely she's reached her limit yet in this sphere. Winning favourite at Cheltenham in her first handicap chase, disappointing at Punchestown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (33/1 -106%) Coqolino |
33/1(-106%) | (4) Coqolino 33/1, 32¾ lengths fourth of 7 to Kings Halo in handicap chase (11/1) at this C&D (soft) 28 days ago, third briefly before 2 out but not persevered with once held. Worth noting if the market speaks in his favour. Pulled up in the Tim Duggan Memorial at Limerick, poor fourth behind Kings Halo over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (18/1 -50%) Galon De Vauzelle |
18/1(-50%) | (9) Galon De Vauzelle 18/1, Latest win in chase at Leopardstown in December. 10/1, fifth of 7 in handicap chase at Doncaster (24f, good) 29 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Others more persuasive. Belated breakthrough over fences at Leopardstown, well beaten at Doncaster since then. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (10/1 +0%) Percy Warner |
10/1(+0%) | (1) Percy Warner 10/1, 1 win from 3 runs this season. 40/1, bit below form sixth of 25 in handicap chase at Leopardstown (21.5f, soft) 21 days ago, outpaced after 2 out. Yard in good form and this rates less demanding. 1-7 over fences, has plenty of weight, Shantreusse looks like the stable's number-one. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (14/1 +13%) Hands Of Gold |
14/1(+13%) | (7) Hands Of Gold 14/1, Useful winner at 20f over hurdles. Last of 6 in minor event chase (10/1) at Fairyhouse (21.8f, soft) 43 days ago. Makes handicap chase debut. Uninspiring novice form, may find his level in handicaps, 10lb lower than hurdles rating. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (4/1 +67%) Slip Of The Tongue |
4/1(+67%) | (5) Slip Of The Tongue 4/1, Well-beaten fifth of 7 to Kings Halo in handicap chase at this C&D (soft, 13/2) 28 days ago, making mid-race mistakes. Cheekpieces on 1st time and he may well be sharper now given that was his first start for 9 months. Remote fifth behind Kings Halo over C&D on return, cheekpieces now, Mark Walsh aboard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (7/2 +0%) Kings Halo |
7/2(+0%) | (8) Kings Halo 7/2, 2 wins from 5 runs this season. 7/4, career best when winning 7-runner handicap chase at this C&D (soft) 28 days ago, driven clear after 2 out. Expected to go well again under forcing tactics. Hacked up here four weeks ago, up 11lb, similar profile to Evies Vladimir, should go close. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
EVIES VLADIMIR looked every inch a handicap chaser to keep on the right side of when running out a ready winner over an extended 2m5f at Fairyhouse earlier this month and, even accounting for a 13lb hike, he can make his presence felt once more. Kings Halo made all in impressive fashion over C&D last month and can make a bold bid to do so again, despite the 11lb higher mark. La Malmason must bounce back from a below-par effort over 2m6f at Punchestown but could feature prominently if she does.
EVIES VLADIMIR faces comfortably his sternest assignment to date but Gavin Cromwell's 7-y-o highlighted he remains one to be firmly interested in when registering a facile success at Fairyhouse 18 days ago and he gets the nod to defy the handicapper once more and come out on top. Dangers aplenty are headed up by Battle It Out, Shantreusse and Kings Halo.
JP McManus runs four and may have the solution with BATTLE IT OUT who won over this trip as a hurdler and is relatively unexposed

1st (5) (2/5 +45%) Ferny Hollow |
2/5(+45%) | (5) Ferny Hollow 2/5, Champion bumper winner back in 2020 who landed only start over hurdles the following season and quickly developed in to a high-class chaser after, winning Leopardstown Grade 1 in 2021. Absent since but unlikely he'll be Lacking for fitness given powerful connections. Has to be of interest. A top-class performer whose career has been fraught with problems, hard to oppose. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (14/1 +0%) Rebel Gold |
14/1(+0%) | (2) Rebel Gold 14/1, Useful chaser who landed this race 12 months ago. Respectable fifth of 11 in handicap chase (22/1) at Leopardstown (17f, soft) 22 days ago, headway before 3 out and plugging on. May come up short this time around. Fair handicap run at Leopardstown last time, retains ability at 11 but up against it here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (5/1 +55%) Espanito Bello |
5/1(+55%) | (4) Espanito Bello 5/1, Smart chaser. 1 win from 3 runs this season. 22/1 and visored for 1st time, running below form when unseated rider in Thyestes Chase at Gowran (25f, heavy) 31 days ago. Significantly down in trip. Course specialist with 5-8 record, needs to get his campaign back on track after lapses. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (6/1 -219%) Ash Tree Meadow |
6/1(-219%) | (1) Ash Tree Meadow 6/1, Landed the Galway Plate last summer and confirmed himself a very smart chaser when readily seeing off sole rival on return in in Grade 2 Skymas Chase at Down Royal (19.5f) in command from 3 out and cruising clear. Likely to play a part. Galway Plate winner, 9lb concession to Ferny Hollow is demanding over a trip short of best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (28/1 -40%) Epson Du Houx |
28/1(-40%) | (3) Epson Du Houx 28/1, C&D winner. 66/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Navan (24f, heavy) 98 days ago (reportedly bled). Significantly back down in trip on return to action but others make more appeal. Last win was in 2021, reported to have bled when pulled up in the Troytown, best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (250/1 +0%) Ivar The Boneless |
250/1(+0%) | (6) Ivar The Boneless 250/1, 250/1, tailed-off last of 5 to Saint Sam in Red Mills Chase at Gowran (20f, heavy) 8 days ago. Set for another struggle in this company. Totally out of his depth in a Grade 2 chase at Gowran, similar scenario now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A race that is likely to revolve around the returning FERNY HOLLOW, who has not been seen on a racecourse since landing a Grade 1 at Leopardstown in December 2021. The Cheveley Park-owned nine-year-old would appear to hold all the aces, despite his layoff, and he is fancied to pick up where he left off. Galway Plate hero Ash Tree Meadow cruised to victory in a two-runner Grade 2 at Down Royal in November and he is the most likely danger, while last year's winner Rebel Gold looks best of the rest.
FERNY HOLLOW has a lengthy absence to overcome but Willie Mullins' charge looked every inch a high-class prospect when last seen scoring in Grade 1 company over fences and, unlikely to be lacking for fitness, he can make a winning return. Ash Tree Meadow comfortably rates the chief threat.
The race conditions make this a suitable comeback opportunity for \bFERNY HOLLOW\b, a Grade 1 bumper and novice chase winner

Whacker Clan arrives on the back of two chase successes and must be respected back over hurdles, along with stablemate Champagne Mahler, who was hit with an 11lb rise after bolting up at Gowran Park last month. A chance, however, is taken on ZOFFANIEN. Denis Hogan's charge showed signs of a return to form when finishing third at Thurles and he remains competitively treated should he build on that performance. Others to note include Big Island and handicap debutant Any Road.
CHAMPAGNE MAHLER took his form up a level when cosily getting off the mark at Gowran and with that form working out well Henry de Bromhead's low-mileage 6-y-o is fancied to follow up. Gavin Cromwell's Fairyhouse runner-up Lazer Wolf is weightued to go close and rates a big danger, with C&D winner Zoffanien and handicap-debutant Any Road highly respected too.
this might just go to CHAMPAGNE MAHLER(nap), impressive when scoring at Gowran and can follow up despite an 11lb rise

Several hold entries for the Cheltenham Festival, but CLEATUS POOLAW may be the one to take winning form across to Prestbury Park, assuming that's the plan if all goes well here. The lightly-raced six-year-old, the ready winner of a competitive maiden over the extended 2m2f circuit here last month, holds great potential and is the pick of Gordon Elliott's five entrants, with the step up in trip likely to suit. Maxxum can give his stablemate a good run for the money on the back of his surprise Listed triumph at the Dublin Racing Festival, while Lady Rita also warrants respect on her return.
The progressive CLEATUS POOLAW (current favourite with some firms for the Final at Cheltenham) looked stronger the further he went when off the mark here 4 weeks ago so he's taken to follow up on handicap debut stepping up in trip. His stablemate Maxxum looked better than ever when winning a listed handicap at Leopardstown 3 weeks ago so must be respected with Good Time Jonny (winner of the Final at Cheltenham last season) and the unexposed Meyo completing the shortlist.
Despite being 2lb wrong, preference is for WAITTILLITELLYOU after a very creditable run at Fairyhouse after nine months off

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/4 +45%) Fleur In The Park |
11/4(+45%) | (2) Fleur In The Park 11/4, Made a winning start at Roscommon then excellent second in bumpers at Punchestown and Navan, beaten 4 lengths by The Enabler in listed event on latter occasion. Player. Probably vulnerable to a less exposed sort but sets a decent standard and should go well. |

3rd (5) (Evens -10%) Wingmen |
Evens(-10%) | (5) Wingmen Evens, Fetched £250,000 after landing Irish point and landed the odds in 6-runner bumper at this course (16f, soft) on NH debut 73 days ago. Hood on 1st time. Another bold show likely for yard which has farmed this event in recent years. Easy winner here in December; entered in the Champion Bumper and looks the one to beat. |

4th (3) (28/1 -100%) Scamall Bawn |
28/1(-100%) | (3) Scamall Bawn 28/1, Winner in bumper at Cork in October. 28½ lengths last of 6 to The Enabler in listed bumper at Navan (16f, heavy, 15/2) 70 days ago so needs to bounce back. Ran no race in a Listed contest at Navan in December; something to prove now. |

WINGMEN, who changed hands for 250,000 pounds after a point-to-point win in January of last year, impressed with a smooth display on his Rules debut in a similar race here in December. Heavily eased that day, it's difficult to say how much more he has to offer, but the son of Kayf Tara could certainly have the potential to use this as a stepping stone to bigger things. Fleur In The Park is a good yardstick and can provide a stiff test for the selection. William Munny is the pick of the rest.
Gordon Elliott has take- the past four runnings of this and looks to have another very likely sort in the shape of WINGMEN who made it 2-2 for the yard when bagging a bumper here before Christmas. This exciting Kayf Tara gelding can fend off Fleur In The Park who brings some very solid bumper form to the table and Navan-scorer William Munny.
the one to beat is WINGMEN who impressed in a bumper that has worked out well here in December and can bolster his Cheltenham claims
Ths is the racecard key.
