1st (4) (7/2 +0%) The Kalooki Kid |
7/2(+0%) | (4) The Kalooki Kid 7/2, 9/2, posted an encouraging third of 12 in novice hurdle at this course (15.6f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 22 days ago. Up in trip. Can improve so he's in the mix. Third over 1m7f here on hurdle debut and this step up in trip could prompt improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (5/1 -11%) Lavida Adiva |
5/1(-11%) | (8) Lavida Adiva 5/1, Winning pointer who shaped well when third of 7 in novice hurdle at Kelso (20.9f, soft) 53 days ago. Should progress. Shortlisted. Point winner who was promising third on rules debut at Kelso and is in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/5 +36%) Ottizzini |
6/5(+36%) | (3) Ottizzini 6/5, Fair Irish hurdler. Scored at Downpatrick in May and faced a stiff task in Grade 3 at Down Royal (16.9f, soft) 20 days ago. Leading form claims back in these much calmer waters. Struggled in Grade 3 last time but leading claims judged on May win in Downpatrick maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/3 -48%) Quaresome |
10/3(-48%) | (1) Quaresome 10/3, Course winner who resumed from 6 months off with a good second of 12 in novice hurdle at this course (15.6f, good to soft, 2/1) 22 days ago. Up in trip and needs considering despite conceding weight all round. 2m1f win here in March and good second over 1m7f here latest; every chance he'll stay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (250/1 -400%) She Won't Mind |
250/1(-400%) | (7) She Won't Mind 250/1, Won a point in May but hooded when only tenth of 12 in bumper at Carlisle (17.2f, soft) on NH debut 25 days ago. Makes hurdles debut with more needed. British maiden point winner but tailed off at 50-1 at Carlisle in sole bumper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (12/1 +0%) Meetmeinthemorning |
12/1(+0%) | (2) Meetmeinthemorning 12/1, Went backwards from his hurdling bow when eighth of 10 in novice hurdle at Carlisle (20f, soft, 13/2) 35 days ago. Need to get back on track. Perhaps soft going didn't suit at Carlisle latest; promise previously; could be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (25/1 +0%) Dorcas Road |
25/1(+0%) | (5) Dorcas Road 25/1, 22/1, seventh of 17 in bumper at Warwick on NH debut 7 months ago on sole run for Ian Williams. This Walk In The Park mare is much respected on her hurdles/yard debut. Improvement is possible but very much necessary on this hurdle and stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (250/1 -150%) Icouldn'tpassherby |
250/1(-150%) | (6) Icouldn'tpassherby 250/1, Failed to build on debut promise when pulled up in novice hurdle (150/1) at Hexham (16.2f, heavy) 20 days ago. Back up in trip with work to do. Well beaten/pulled up on her two starts and a transformation is needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
OTTIZZINI struggled in Grade 3 company at Down Royal last time but her previous form, which includes a victory at Downpatrick in May, suggests that she could be hard to beat in a race of this nature. Quaresome may prove to be the biggest threat having won over 2m1f here earlier in the year, while Lavida Adiva is the pick of the remainder.
Irish challenger OTTIZZINI was flying too high when seventh in a Down Royal Grade 3 last time but holds much the best form and can quickly resume winning ways. Both The Kalooki Kid and Lavida Adiva have better days ahead of them and appeal as the duo to chase home Stuart Crawford's fairly useful mare in that order.
The mare OTTIZZINI showed good form to win a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick in May and earns the vote now back down in grade.

1st (4) (7/2 +46%) Rory The Cat |
7/2(+46%) | (4) Rory The Cat 7/2, Won pair of handicaps on the level this summer and again ran creditably when third at Hamilton last month. Made a discouraging start to hurdling career when well beaten over C&D just over 3 weeks ago so will need to leave that effort well behind. Blinkers back on. Always behind over C&D on hurdle debut but the returning blinkers could prompt bigger run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (2/1 -14%) Three Yorkshiremen |
2/1(-14%) | (5) Three Yorkshiremen 2/1, Fair performer on Flat, stays 1¼m. Below expectations at Beverley (8.4f, soft) in August and sold from Richard Fahey (10,000 gns) the following month. Likely sort now hurdling in thin maiden for a new yard. Has earned a Flat RPR of 77 this year and is not ruled out on this hurdle and stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (4/1 -14%) Cofficionado |
4/1(-14%) | (2) Cofficionado 4/1, Well held in Haydock maiden on sole start on Flat in September 2022 but showed more sent hurdling when fourth at Cartmel (17.2f, soft) in August, shaping much better than the distance beaten suggested (finished tired). Entitled to build on that here. Well-beaten 4th on hurdle debut at Cartmel but form is working out well and this is weak. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (15/8 -15%) Leap Year Lad |
15/8(-15%) | (3) Leap Year Lad 15/8, Fair handicapper on Flat (stays 10.5f), won twice in 2023. Every chance he needed the run when down the field at Hamilton when last seen in September and he's respected making his hurdling debut. Two Flat wins at Hamilton this year and entitled to respect in modest race on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (80/1 -100%) Best Guess |
80/1(-100%) | (1) Best Guess 80/1, Fair maiden on Flat (stays 10.7f) but went with no encouragement tried over hurdles when tailed-off last at Sedgefield (16.8f, soft) last month. Can only be watched. Has shown some ability on the Flat but tailed off at 28-1 on last month's hurdle debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LEAP YEAR LAD won twice on the level and the most recent of those victories came over 1m2f at Haydock in July. This is not a strong race for the grade and it would be no surprise to see Kevin Ryan's gelding make a winning hurdling debut with a clear round. Three Yorkshiremen has a similar profile to the selection and completes the shortlist along with Cofficionado.
The betting will obviously tell a tale given a couple are hurdling debutants, but preference is for THREE YORKSHIREMEN, who was a little expensive to follow for Richard Fahey but could well be up to making a winning start in this sphere for his new stable. There was enough promise in Cofficionado's hurdling debut effort, so he's put forward as the main danger, with Leap Year Lad rounding off the shortlist.
The Donald McCain-trained COFFICIONADO was a well-beaten fourth at Cartmel on his sole hurdle start but that was a warm race.

1st (2) (13/2 +13%) Mint Gold |
13/2(+13%) | (2) Mint Gold 13/2, Hurdles winner who tasted success twice during 2020/21 season, latterly over this C&D. Far from disgraced in 2 starts during summer of 2021 but absent since and yard look to hold stronger claims with Garde des Champs. Absent since June 2021 but this C&D winner runs off last winning mark and is not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (2/1 +33%) Restandbethankful |
2/1(+33%) | (4) Restandbethankful 2/1, Well served by return to positive tactics when opening account for new yard at Sedgefield (17f) in October. Good second next time and this more suitable than his latest assignment when fourth over this C&D. Ran well on first two starts for yard then faced tough task last time; could make bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 +31%) Blueberry Wine |
9/2(+31%) | (3) Blueberry Wine 9/2, 5-time winner over fences, landing handicaps at Huntingdon/Aintree during early summer. Mixed bag subsequently, running below form on the back of a wind op when fifth of 8 in handicap at Sedgefield (17f) in October. Mark is easing at least. Disappointing last month but three wins in first half of this year and not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/5 +73%) Neigh Botha |
6/5(+73%) | (5) Neigh Botha 6/5, Maiden over hurdles but offered encouragement on 2 of his 3 starts over fences, perhaps doing a little too much too soon in first-time blinkers (retained here) when third at Sedgefield (19.3f) 2 weeks ago. Not out of things. Showed spark with these blinkers added at Sedgefield; could benefit from this shorter trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
RESTANDBETHANKFUL struggled when out of the handicap in a better race over C&D last time, but his previous form suggest that the seven-year-old could play a leading role in this company. Garde Des Champs looks to be the biggest threat following an encouraging effort at Wetherby a month ago, while Mint Gold should not be underestimated on his return to action.
Successful over hurdles at Perth during the summer, there was enough encouragement from GARDE DES CHAMPS chase debut third at Wetherby 6 weeks ago to think he can do better in this sphere and he earns the vote to come out on top. Restandbethankful and Neigh Botha head up the dangers.
Having run well in front for a long way over 2m3f at Sedgefield recently, NEIGH BOTHA could come out on top now back down in trip.

1st (1) (5/6 +49%) Autumn Return |
5/6(+49%) | (1) Autumn Return 5/6, Latest win at Perth in April. 11/4, good second of 7 in handicap hurdle at Kelso (16.2f, good to soft) 53 days ago, barely adequate test. Worth a chance to resume winning ways back up in trip. Career best effort at Kelso (2m, good to soft) last month; scope for more back up in trip.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (15/2 +46%) Lady Mendoza |
15/2(+46%) | (6) Lady Mendoza 15/2, Point winner who has just shown modest form over hurdles so far. Creditable effort at Uttoxeter when last seen 5 months ago but drop back in trip not necessarily in her favour. Placed twice over hurdles; still early days but this might just prove too competitive.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/2 +25%) Lone Star |
9/2(+25%) | (2) Lone Star 9/2, Had a productive time in 2022/23, scoring 5 times, including at this track. However, failed to come on for this season's reappearance when well held at Wetherby 26 days ago, albeit facing a stiff task in listed company. Needs to get back on track. Won back-to-back C&D mares' hurdles but has found things tough since; bit to prove.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (28/1 -40%) Pammi |
28/1(-40%) | (7) Pammi 28/1, Likeable sort who gained a seventh career success around Perth over 3m in September but disappointing on the Flat since and back over hurdles at this course 22 days ago. Others preferred. Well beaten in both codes since scoring at Perth; won't find things easy in this grade.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (15/2 -125%) Nowinittowinit |
15/2(-125%) | (4) Nowinittowinit 15/2, Left previous form well behind when causing an 80/1 upset in Perth maiden (20.2f) in April. Contrasting odds (5/6) when following up in 3-runner handicap at the same course (23.9f) 6 months ago and solid claims if she's tuned up. Unexposed and, with the yard's runners in good nick, she's a player in hat-trick bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (6/1 -140%) Never No Trouble |
6/1(-140%) | (5) Never No Trouble 6/1, Gained reward for her consistency when winning 2m maiden here in February. Placed on all hurdle starts this season, having run of race when second at Hereford 44 days ago. Should go well again. Career best last time, when a close second at Hereford (2m3f, good to firm); player.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
NOWINITTOWINIT made her first handicap start a victorious one when beating her two rivals in comprehensive fashion at Perth when last seen in May. The daughter of Flemensfirth makes her return to the fray off a 2lb higher mark and she should have no issues with this drop in trip. The main danger is Autumn Return, who put in a solid effort to finish second over 2m at Kelso last time, while Never No Trouble is a consistent performer and isn't ruled out either.
AUTUMN RETURN shaped well at Kelso on reappearance and, back up in trip with Brian Hughes booked, she makes plenty of appeal. Nowinittowinit is an obvious danger in the hat-trick bid and Never No Trouble can't be dismissed.
With a return to this trip looking positive, topweight AUTUMN RETURN looks capable of continuing her upward curve.

1st (4) (17/2 -42%) Cuban Cigar |
17/2(-42%) | (4) Cuban Cigar 17/2, Held his form admirably well last term, deservedly getting his head back in front in the Final of this series here in March. Another creditable effort when fourth of 9 over C&D last time and can be expected to give his running again. Won over C&D in March and ran pretty well when 4th over C&D latest; might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (14/1 -56%) The Churchill Lad |
14/1(-56%) | (2) The Churchill Lad 14/1, Won juvenile events at Cartmel and Catterick early last season. Off 8 months, shaped as if better for the run when seventh of 9 over C&D 22 days ago. Runner-up in Listed 4yo hurdle over C&D in February and may have needed reappearance run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/2 -80%) Ip Up |
9/2(-80%) | (1) Ip Up 9/2, Fair hurdler/chaser in France who struck at the third time of asking for current yard in 2m Fakenham handicap 9 days ago. Did that easily and a 7 lb penalty is unlikely to prevent another prominent showing. Easy win in small field at Fakenham last Tuesday and a 7lb penalty may not stop her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (10/3 +5%) Bashful |
10/3(+5%) | (9) Bashful 10/3, Won a 2m Uttoxeter handicap hurdle last November and better than ever on the Flat this year, winning 4 times. If he can translate that improvement back to hurdles he's on a lenient mark. Has improved on the Flat since he last ran over hurdles; has potential off current mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (13/2 +59%) Lihyan |
13/2(+59%) | (7) Lihyan 13/2, Comfortable winner of Cork maiden hurdle (17f) last summer but still to reproduce his Irish form for current yard. Off 5 months, again raced keenly and didn't find much come the crunch when fifth of 10 at Ayr 26 days ago. Returned from break with fair 5th at Ayr and another 3lb lower, but others more compelling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (33/1 -65%) Darkest Day |
33/1(-65%) | (8) Darkest Day 33/1, Scored twice at Kelso in September but has reverted to his weak-finishing ways the last twice. Two wins at Kelso in September but better could have been expected the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (5/1 +77%) Socialist Agenda |
5/1(+77%) | (5) Socialist Agenda 5/1, Former C&D winner but hasn't shown enough back hurdling in recent weeks to suggest he's in good enough form to take advantage of his falling mark. Return to form needed but yard's runners here are always worth second look; watch betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (18/1 -125%) Bix Beiderbecke |
18/1(-125%) | (3) Bix Beiderbecke 18/1, Fair form in bumpers and came good at the second time of asking over hurdles in 2m Perth novice in May. Very much unexposed now making a quick switch to handicap company on his return to action. Made all in Perth maiden in May when last seen; in good hands to continue to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (9/2 -29%) Scots Poet |
9/2(-29%) | (6) Scots Poet 9/2, C&D winner and another good effort here when second of 9 over C&D 3 weeks ago. Likely to be in the thick of things again. Won over C&D in February and good second over C&D last time; solid claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Bix Beiderbecke got off the mark on only his second start over hurdles at Perth in May and he rates an interesting contender off a rating of 111 on his handicap bow. However, SCOTS POET looks the way to go, as he put in a very pleasing display to only be denied by two lengths into second over C&D in a tougher contest than this last time. Ip Up completes the shortlist off a 7lb higher mark than her victory at Fakenham.
BASHFUL has been an improved performer on the Flat this year, suggesting he could be on a good mark back hurdling from a mark in the mid-90s. Ip Up is an obvious danger on the back of last week's comfortable Fakenham success, while Perth novice winner Bix Beiderbecke is a potential improver in handicaps.
It is hard to oppose IP UP (nap), who bolted up at Fakenham recently and should be tough to beat under a 7lb penalty.

1st (3) (5/1 -122%) Half Shot |
5/1(-122%) | (3) Half Shot 5/1, Dual winner last term who ended campaign with fine seventh from out of the handicap in Scottish National in April. Looked as good as ever when just beaten on Kelso reappearance (26.2f) and shaped as if still in good form before unseating at Canal Turn at Aintree 3 weeks ago. Unseated latest but very much entitled to consideration despite his career high mark.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/3 -11%) Inis Oirr |
10/3(-11%) | (5) Inis Oirr 10/3, Came good at fourth attempt over hurdles in February, landing a class 2 novice here (23.8f). Jumping well until bad mistake (possibly unsighted by glare of sun) and unseating rider at Kelso on return/chase debut. Not seen to best effect under a change of tactics at Carlisle since and can do better. 3m hurdle winner here; may need to be fairly close to the pace to be seen to best effect.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (28/1 +30%) The Vollan |
28/1(+30%) | (11) The Vollan 28/1, Hasn't tasted success since landing a small-field Kelso handicap chase (23.4f, good to firm) 13 months ago and failed to build on the promise of previous run when well held at Fakenham last time. Handy mark; if latest effort is forgiven, he has frame possibilities.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (3/1 +60%) Concetto |
3/1(+60%) | (8) Concetto 3/1, Well held hurdling runs but proved a totally different proposition sent chasing, scoring on handicap debut at Huntingdon before following up at Musselburgh. Well held on reappearance but better than bare result at Ludlow since (let down by jumping). Tongue strap on 1st time. C&D winner who is on a competitive mark if a tongue-tie can help revive him.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (11/2 +27%) Archies Charm |
11/2(+27%) | (2) Archies Charm 11/2, Some good efforts in defeat last season but not quite in same form this time around. Others look better treated. Irish raider; made the frame at Down Royal last time; each-way player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (12/1 -60%) Methodtothemadness |
12/1(-60%) | (7) Methodtothemadness 12/1, Won 3 times last season, including back-to-back successes over C&D in February. Well held next 2 starts but return to this track is a plus after 6 months off. Dual C&D winner who goes well when fresh and should be competitive from this mark.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (13/2 -18%) Magna Sam |
13/2(-18%) | (1) Magna Sam 13/2, Better than ever after 9 months off on his yard debut when landing Edinburgh National here (31.5f) in February. Excellent fifth in Scottish National at Ayr final start. Is 3 from 3 here and big shout back down in class. Goes well here and when fresh; competitive mark for this reappearance; player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (18/1 -29%) Tim Pat |
18/1(-29%) | (6) Tim Pat 18/1, Completed a hat-trick at Haydock in early 2022 but winless since and well held last 4 starts, including return. Change of headgear. Others are preferred. Out of sorts of late; blinkers now applied; handy mark if he is revived.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (40/1 -186%) Pookie Pekan |
40/1(-186%) | (9) Pookie Pekan 40/1, Wide-margin winner over C&D almost 2 years ago but well held both starts since and returning from long absence here (19 months). Has won after a break but majority of such form suggests he might be better for this run.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (25/1 +11%) Burbank |
25/1(+11%) | (4) Burbank 25/1, Back to form from out of the blue when springing a 33/1 surprise in 26.5f Perth handicap hurdle in April, benefiting from an enterprising ride. Shaped as if badly in need of the run after 5 months off at Bangor 8 weeks ago and hard to know what to expect back over fences. Formerly smart chaser; hard to be confident but a possible player if allowed to dominate.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
HALF SHOT has recorded some fair form in deeper contests and could put his mishap, when unseating his rider in the Grand Sefton at Aintree recently, behind him at this lower level. Irish raider Archies Charm has posted creditable efforts in defeat at Gowran and Down Royal in recent months and the eight-year-old may give the selection most to think about, ahead of Inis Oirr.
MAGNA SAM couldn't have enjoyed much more of an upturn than he did in a couple of outings for Alastair Ralph last term, winning here in February before an excellent fifth in the Scottish National at Ayr (shaped second best for much of the way), and he can make it 4 from 4 at this track back down in class. Half Shot looks set for another good season, while Inis Oirr remains with potential in this sphere.
One of few who don't have anything to prove is MAGNA SAM, who goes well here, when fresh and remains of interest from this mark.

1st (6) (6/1 +14%) Sanosuke |
6/1(+14%) | (6) Sanosuke 6/1, Fairly useful on the Flat in Ireland and he strung a couple of good efforts together over hurdles at Perth during the spring, twice filling the runners-up spot. Stepped up on return when fifth of 13 over C&D 22 days ago but more is needed if he's to open his account in this sphere. Placed six times at up to 2m4f; on a competitive mark but has to prove he gets this trip.. |

2nd (4) (3/1 -9%) Rickety Gate |
3/1(-9%) | (4) Rickety Gate 3/1, C&D winner in 2022 and ran creditably in latest renewal of that race 22 days ago, running on. Should give another good account. C&D winner; last two wins gained when racing prominently; each-way player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (13/2 +84%) Round The Buoy |
13/2(+84%) | (3) Round The Buoy 13/2, Fair winning hurdler for David Dunne. Yet to fire for current yard but hinted at a revival at Chepstow last time and market support would make him interesting. Handy mark and back over a suitable trip, he'd be of interest if there is support for him.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (17/2 +15%) Blended Stealth |
17/2(+15%) | (9) Blended Stealth 17/2, Remains a maiden after 22 NH runs but is best excused his most recent outing at Hexham, having gone off too hard. Significantly back up in trip. Each-way player on his best run for this trainer but hard to fancy on his form since.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (7/2 +50%) Theirshegoes |
7/2(+50%) | (7) Theirshegoes 7/2, Took a step forward despite still doing plenty wrong under pressure when third on handicap debut at Perth in April. Decent fourth at Newcastle last time and shaped as if needing the run when fifth at Kelso (25.8f) on last month's return. Yard going better now and needs considering. Yard in better form now and no surprise if she begins to fulfil her potential.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (28/1 -100%) Misscarlett |
28/1(-100%) | (11) Misscarlett 28/1, Placed twice over hurdles last spring but well beaten both starts back on the level since, so has something to prove. Losing run now at 11 but has to be considered an each-way player back in this discipline.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (16/1 -33%) Champ Royal |
16/1(-33%) | (1) Champ Royal 16/1, Looked better than ever when making a winning start for this yard at Hexham in October. Isn't the most consistent though and followed that with a below-par display back there last time. Dual soft-ground 2m7f winner; disappointed latest but each-way player if bouncing back.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (11/2 +21%) Shantou Moon |
11/2(+21%) | (8) Shantou Moon 11/2, Backed at long odds equipped with first-time cheekpieces and ran out a clear winner of a Kelso handicap hurdle in February. Followed that with a couple of creditable efforts in defeat and shaped as if better for the run on recent return at aforementioned venue. Blinkers on for 1st time. 2m6f winner but handicapper in control since; blinkers need to have a positive effect.. |

9th (10) (28/1 -75%) Kurphy |
28/1(-75%) | (10) Kurphy 28/1, Well held in bumpers/all 3 starts over hurdles, though showed a bit more last time and may make more impact now handicapping up markedly in trip. Lowly mark and more suitable trip for her handicap debut; no surprise if she improves.. |

10th (2) (20/1 -567%) Native Fighter |
20/1(-567%) | (2) Native Fighter 20/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2021 but stopped the slide with cheekpieces refitted when second in 9-runner handicap at Cartmel (22.1f, soft) in August. On a good mark, so big chance if building on that. Went close to ending a drought at Cartmel (2m6f) in August; has won when fresh; player.. |

|PU| (5) (22/1 -100%) The Blame Game |
22/1(-100%) | (5) The Blame Game 22/1, All 3 career victories gained at Sedgefield, capitalising on a falling mark there (3m3f) in February. Found to be lame when pulled up at Kelso 3 months later and off since. Cheekpieces back on. Has a bit to prove on return from layoff, not least his ability from this mark.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
C&D winner RICKETY GATE ran arguably his best race to date when finishing third over track and trip earlier in the month and a similar level of performance dropping in grade may suffice. Shantou Moon is entitled to improve on his reappearance fifth over 2m5f at Kelso recently, with this stiffer test of stamina expected to suit. Tristan Davidson's inmate shouldn't be underestimated, while Native Fighter and Misscarlett won't be far away either.
The Sandy Thomson stable has been showing much better signs in recent days, so THEIRSHEGOES gets the nod to build on an encouraging return at Kelso and open her account. Native Fighter hasn't won for a long time but stopped the slide at Cartmel in August and is too well handicapped to ignore. C&D winner Rickety Gate completes the shortlist.
The mare THEIRSHEGOES has laid down a marker for this and represents a trainer whose string look to be back in good form.
Ths is the racecard key.
