Full Metal Jacket |
(4) (5/4 +50%)5/4(+50%) | (4) Full Metal Jacket 5/4, From a good family and filled the frame both starts in Irish bumpers last spring. In top hands and he's a fascinating contender now hurdling with a tongue strap added. Irish raider who has shown promise in a point and two bumpers; interesting contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Speed Davis |
(9) (5/2 +38%)5/2(+38%) | (9) Speed Davis 5/2, Half-brother to 5 winners and was successful on his sole outing in Irish points. After 9 months off, left his bumper debut form behind with an easy success at Sedgefield (16.8f, heavy) in January. Runner-up on hurdles bow a month later and he has plenty to recommend him. Irish point winner; won a bumper in January and a fair second on hurdles debut last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Reforme |
(8) (11/2 -57%)11/2(-57%) | (8) Reforme 11/2, Showed a bit when fourth in a course bumper at the turn of the year and stuck to his task pretty well when occupying same spot on hurdles debut at Ayr. Should improve. Fourth in a bumper here and in a maiden hurdle at Ayr on his 2 starts so far; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Coastal Rock |
(2) (6/1 +0%)6/1(+0%) | (2) Coastal Rock 6/1, Related to four winners and showed a bit to work on both starts 8 months apart, fourth in a bumper then third of 13 in a novice at Taunton in December. Since left Harry Fry. Stable debut after promising runs in a bumper and a novice hurdle for Harry Fry; possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lemoine |
(6) (14/1 -40%)14/1(-40%) | (6) Lemoine 14/1, Made the fame all 3 starts in bumpers (modest form) and showed up quite well on hurdling debut at Newcastle in December. Well backed but too free back at that venue 2 months later. Hood may help. In the frame in three bumpers and similar level of form in two runs over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bold Light |
(1) (28/1 -133%)28/1(-133%) | (1) Bold Light 28/1, £35,000 4-y-o, Leading Light gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler Shar Whats Therush, stays 23f. Runner-up completed start in points but that was back in 2021. Cost £1,000 after Irish point 2nd in 2021; off since; interesting on stable/hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Theatre Chief |
(10) (200/1 -506%)200/1(-506%) | (10) Theatre Chief 200/1, Dartmouth gelding. Dam (h107), placed in French hurdles, half-sister to smart hurdler/top-class chaser (stayed 3¼m) Sizing John. From a good family but went with little promise in a bumper last month. Well-bred but needs to improve markedly on his debut seventh in an Ayr bumper last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Foshan |
(3) (300/1 -200%)300/1(-200%) | (3) Foshan 300/1, Poor on the Flat and went with no encouragement sent hurdling at Kelso (16.2f, heavy) in December. Cheekpieces off. Poor Flat maiden who was pulled up on hurdles debut in December. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FULL METAL JACKET adds a fair amount of interest to the contest with Emmet Mullins sending him over from Ireland to make his hurdling debut. A full-brother to the useful Embassy Gardens, a repeat of his third at Punchestown last April would likely prove good enough for him to get off the mark. Speed Davis filled the runner-up spot on his first attempt over timber at Catterick and is respected along with Reforme, who shaped well when fourth at Ayr last month.
Irish-raider FULL METAL JACKET is in excellent hands so is sure to be well prepared for this hurdles debut, with positive market vibes increasing confidence. Speed Davis and Reforme look the dangers.
Although without a recent run Irish raider FULL METAL JACKET is taken to make a winning debut over hurdles.

Autumn Return |
(2) (9/2 +55%)9/2(+55%) | (2) Autumn Return 9/2, Course winner who posted a career best when bagging 6-runner handicap hurdle over C&D in November. Had no answer to a revitalised one at Market Rasen next time and possibly seen at a disadvantage when third at Catterick since. In top form until last time but has had a break since and seems to go well when fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Sunday Soldier |
(4) (5/1 -67%)5/1(-67%) | (4) Sunday Soldier 5/1, Fast-improving hurdler who easily completed the 4-timer at Doncaster 34 days ago. Must be high on the shortlist despite another hike in the weights. She's on a roll and a better mare now than when she last tried 2m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ip Up |
(1) (13/2 +35%)13/2(+35%) | (1) Ip Up 13/2, Fair hurdler/chaser in France who has won 2m handicap hurdles at Fakenham and Newcastle since joining this yard. Good second back at former course 3 weeks ago and this likeable mare should give another decent account. Consistent mare who ran another solid race under a big weight at Fakenham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Similar Story |
(11) (13/2 +46%)13/2(+46%) | (11) Similar Story 13/2, Easy winner of a point and showed ability in trio of mares' novice events late last year. However, well held switched to handicaps last 2 starts. Soft ground could be more to her liking (than heavy) and she wouldn't be exposed just yet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Parvos |
(6) (13/2 -30%)13/2(-30%) | (6) Parvos 13/2, Fair maiden hurdler in Ireland who produced an improved performance to get off the mark on third start for this yard at Sedgefield 2 months ago, beating a subsequent winner with a bit in hand. Tops the shortlist up 6 lb. Comfortable winner of a Class 5 at Sedgefield; up 6lb in a better race here but respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Donso Star |
(12) (8/1 +33%)8/1(+33%) | (12) Donso Star 8/1, Made her first impact in a handicap when second at Musselburgh and backed that up when going one better at Ayr. Not taken lightly. Quite possibly improving judged on her Ayr win and softer ground won't trouble her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Could Be Trouble |
(5) (10/1 +0%)10/1(+0%) | (5) Could Be Trouble 10/1, Hurdles/chase winner who ended a longish losing run from a career-low mark at Catterick last time. More needed up 7 lb in better race. After Catterick she now has to contend with a 7lb rise in a race sure to take more winning. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Spot On Soph |
(10) (14/1 +0%)14/1(+0%) | (10) Spot On Soph 14/1, Scored at Market Rasen in August and posted a good second of 12 in handicap hurdle at Sedgefield. Paid the price for a big move into contention at Doncaster when last seen in December. Was running well before a remote finish last time at Doncaster. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Sinndarella |
(9) (14/1 +58%)14/1(+58%) | (9) Sinndarella 14/1, Winner of a Cartmel handicap in August and good third over 23f at Market Rasen 3 months later. Found the drop back in trip against her back from another break at Kelso 26 days ago and likely to find this a bit too sharp. Will need to improve on latest effort after 108 days away and that's possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Blame Rose |
(14) (33/1 -65%)33/1(-65%) | (14) Blame Rose 33/1, Poor hurdler who found some improvement to get off the mark at Carlisle last month but easy to oppose at this level from a long way out of the weights. Recent Carlisle winner but has a lot more on her plate here from well out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Moonlight Glory |
(3) (33/1 -50%)33/1(-50%) | (3) Moonlight Glory 33/1, Three wins in a productive season and still going well when falling 4 out at Ayr last month. This looks too competitive, though. Six-time hurdle winner (2m to 2m4f); has big run in her if none the worse for latest fall. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Noble Affair |
(13) (33/1 +0%)33/1(+0%) | (13) Noble Affair 33/1, Opened account in handicap hurdle at Hexham a year ago but just the one good effort this season, well held last 3 starts, including on chase bow latest. Bit to prove back from a break. Has won only the once and others arrive here in more compelling form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
SUNDAY SOLDIER continued her progression when making it four wins on the bounce at Doncaster last month. The daughter of Shantou, who has gone up 36lb since the first of those victories here in December, may not have reached her ceiling yet, especially with the potential to improve for stepping up in trip. Autumn Return won a series qualifier over C&D in November and commands plenty of respect, while others to consider include Spit Spot, Ip Up and Spot On Soph.
PARVOS produced an improved performance on just her third start for this yard when beating a subsequent winner with something in hand at Sedgefield and she shades the vote over the progressive Sunday Soldier, who's bidding for the 5-timer. The likeable Ip Up completes the shortlist.
Competitive and very open. Stout Flat stayer SPIT SPOT could improve for this longer trip and she earns narrow preference.

Golden Maverick |
(5) (Evens +50%)Evens(+50%) | (5) Golden Maverick Evens, Fairly useful 5-time winner on the Flat (stays 14.5f) for Ian Williams. New connections acquired him for 100,000 gns in the autumn and value for extra when making third hurdles start a winning one at Haydock in March. Assessor may have underestimated him. Five Flat wins at 1m/1m2f in 2023; off the mark over hurdles last time; good mark; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Latin Verse |
(1) (5/1 -25%)5/1(-25%) | (1) Latin Verse 5/1, Much improved refitted with cheekpieces on first start back with former trainer when running out an impressive winner of an 11-runner handicap at Ludlow (15.8f, heavy). Well held in a much better race at Cheltenham but that run probably best excused. Two hurdle wins, second by 19l off 10lb lower in a Ludlow h'cap; worth considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
La Quarite |
(7) (6/1 +57%)6/1(+57%) | (7) La Quarite 6/1, Some promise before falling at this track on debut and easily best effort since when second on handicap debut fitted with a hood in February. Now needs to build on that. Best run so far when second here on h'cap debut (hood tried); up 6lb; may improve further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Teorie |
(3) (7/1 -17%)7/1(-17%) | (3) Teorie 7/1, Fairly useful winner on Flat for Jim Bolger who overcame some sloppy jumps to run out a ready winner on his Catterick hurdle debut in December. Disappointed next time but quickly resumed winning ways back under fully-fledged rider at Southwell. Made too many mistakes in the Fred Winter. Two wins on good to soft, below-par on soft, but fair run on heavy last time; a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Balboa |
(2) (9/1 -50%)9/1(-50%) | (2) Balboa 9/1, Fair maiden on Flat who got off the mark over hurdles at the third attempt at Chepstow in October. Has shown slightly better form in defeat since and out of his pay grade when well held in the Fred Winter last month. Chepstow winner; fair 3rd in a Listed here; pulled up in the Boodles; could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ruler Of The River |
(8) (16/1 -45%)16/1(-45%) | (8) Ruler Of The River 16/1, Just a modest maiden on the Flat in Ireland for Jack Davison but is developing into a fairly useful performer in this sphere judged on her decisive success in a Kelso maiden hurdle (16.2f, soft). Step up in trip looked against her at Southwell so that run can be ignored. 2m Kelso winner; pulled hard when last of 4 on h'cap debut (2m4f); shorter trip will suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ragosina |
(6) (33/1 -136%)33/1(-136%) | (6) Ragosina 33/1, Flat winner who struck at the fourth time of asking over hurdles when seeing off 4 rivals in a 2½m Sedgefield mares' novice in February. Bombed out at Stratford since and now goes handicapping with a tongue tie added. 1m2f Flat winner; won over 2m4f over hurdles; headgear tried; no easy task on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Rory The Cat |
(4) (33/1 -313%)33/1(-313%) | (4) Rory The Cat 33/1, Won pair of handicaps on the level last summer and left opening hurdles run well behind when scoring twice here around the turn of the year. Limitations exposed in listed company last time and opening mark asks for more. Both hurdles win have been here but below-par sixth here last time when Balboa was third. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Teorie (10th), Latin Verse and Balboa (both pulled up) are all likely to find this an easier assignment than they encountered in the Boodles at the Cheltenham Festival. Of the aforementioned trio, the latter appeals most based on his third here in the Scottish Triumph. However, they may be vulnerable to an improving type and GOLDEN MAVERICK fits that mould. A winner on his latest start at Haydock, the manner of that easy victory suggested he would have more to offer with his attentions now switched to handicap company. La Quarite benefited from a first-time hood when runner-up here in February and he looks capable of taking another step forward.
GOLDEN MAVERICK progressed really well on the Flat for his previous connections, and following a smooth success in juvenile company, his opening mark over hurdles looks to be lenient. Latin Verse is back in calmer waters and is feared most, with Common Acclaim also of interest at the other end of the weights.
The vote goes to GOLDEN MAVERICK, who has taken time to find his way over hurdles but looks on a fair mark for handicap debut.

Jem In Em |
(5) (4/1 +38%)4/1(+38%) | (5) Jem In Em 4/1, Bumper winner who confirmed previous encouragement in this sphere when scoring at Kelso in October. Respectable fourth on next 2 starts and reacted well to blinkers (travelled with more fluency) when narrowly denied over C&D 47 days ago. Big player if the blinkers work as well a second time. Back from a break and with new blinkers he went down narrowly over C&D last time out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Curley Finger |
(1) (9/2 -50%)9/2(-50%) | (1) Curley Finger 9/2, Won this race 12 months ago and arrives in even better form this time, completing a hat trick when just clinging on at Doncaster (3m, heavy) last month. A further 5 lb rise demands more but can't rule out in his current mood. Won this last year and now seeks a four timer; it won't be easy off new mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Call Me Harry |
(4) (11/2 +39%)11/2(+39%) | (4) Call Me Harry 11/2, Goes well at this track (C&D scorer in November). Shaped as if still in form when fourth of 8 over C&D in February and capable of a bold show here. When behind a couple of these here last time he was let down by his jumping; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Sanosuke |
(8) (15/2 +38%)15/2(+38%) | (8) Sanosuke 15/2, Fair on the Flat in Ireland and he got off the mark in this sphere when seeing off 10 rivals over C&D in November. Good third back here in December and better than result (went without usual cheekpieces) when seventh of 15 at Ayr (3m) 4 weeks ago. The cheekpieces are back on now. Won over C&D on soft in November and a repeat of that will see him competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lincoln Burrows |
(9) (15/2 +46%)15/2(+46%) | (9) Lincoln Burrows 15/2, Justified support in first-time cheekpieces when seeing off 10 rivals at Newcastle in January but jumped poorly and always behind at Catterick since. 5 lb out of handicap. Needs to bounce back from a poor run in February and he's 5lb out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Champ Royal |
(2) (8/1 -167%)8/1(-167%) | (2) Champ Royal 8/1, Made it 5 wins in only 7 starts for this yard when easily disposing of his 2 rivals over 25 at Catterick last month. 6 lb higher in a much deeper race now so he'll need a career best to keep the winning run going. Has won four of his six starts for this yard and never more impressive than last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Not Staying Long |
(7) (8/1 -33%)8/1(-33%) | (7) Not Staying Long 8/1, Left her first 3 efforts for this yard behind when making all in 3m Ayr handicap under Brian Hughes in February. Respectable fourth over a shorter trip there since. Hughes does the steering again now back at 3m. 3m winner on heavy; 2m5f on good found him out last time but still ran respectably. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Velasco |
(3) (10/1 -11%)10/1(-11%) | (3) Velasco 10/1, Won handicaps at Sedgefield and Doncaster (3m) in February/recently. Possibly found run coming too soon when pulled up on hat-trick attempt at Doncaster and could bounce back having been freshened up. 10lb higher than for last win but this refreshed 8yo can make his presence felt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Cardamon Hill |
(6) (14/1 +50%)14/1(+50%) | (6) Cardamon Hill 14/1, Maiden hurdle winner in Ireland for Gordon Elliott. Has yet to really get going for this yard but there were better signs when third of 8 over C&D last month, although the reopposing Jem In Em was 12 lengths ahead in second. A well-held third here last time; just 1lb lower and perhaps placed at best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dequall |
(11) (66/1 +0%)66/1(+0%) | (11) Dequall 66/1, Eighteen runs since last win in 2021. Respectable third on Kelso reappearance in October but well beaten since. It's not hard to look elsewhere. Not many positives to take from recent runs and he's a long way out of the weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Once again, Curley Finger displayed a willing attitude when completing a hat-trick at Doncaster last month. The seven-year-old's desire to win isn't taken lightly, but a further 5lb rise may be enough to prevent him from following up and slight preference is for February C&D runner-up JEM IN EM. Lucinda Russell's gelding was denied by just a neck that day and he may be able to capitalise racing off the same mark. Champ Royal and Rumble B both arrive in fine fettle and they also warrant respect.
The blinkers worked well for JEM IN EM when narrowly denied over C&D last time and he might prove the answer to this competitive handicap if the headgear continues to have a positive effect. Last year's winner Curley Finger arrives at the top of his game again and is second choice ahead of Call Me Harry.
A few in-form contenders to consider and NOT STAYING LONG might be the answer now she returns to a longer trip on softer ground.

Duyfken |
(6) (5/1 +64%)5/1(+64%) | (6) Duyfken 5/1, Signed off last term with a win at Perth and built on pair of placed efforts this season when resuming winning ways over 2½m here in January. Turned in a rare below-par effort in first-time tongue strap at Ayr last time. Could run well if back on song, for all that he might now be too high in the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Final Edgar |
(5) (5/1 +38%)5/1(+38%) | (5) Final Edgar 5/1, Much improved when getting off the mark in 11-runner novice at Sedgefield (16.8f, heavy) and backed that up switched to handicaps when runner-up next 2 starts. Possibilities off an unchanged mark. Doesn't have a lot in hand off his mark by the looks (up 1lb) but he should be competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Cuban Cigar |
(4) (13/2 -8%)13/2(-8%) | (4) Cuban Cigar 13/2, Enhanced his good record here when scoring over 2m in November and posted another good effort here when third in a better race than this on penultimate start. Shaped as if still in good form on heavy ground at Doncaster since and not taken lightly back at this venue. Latest run wasn't his best but previous third in a strong race here gives him good chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Coup De Coeur |
(2) (15/2 -88%)15/2(-88%) | (2) Coup De Coeur 15/2, Pair of 17f Sedgefield wins under Brian Hughes this winter, shooting 13 lengths clear in a handicap latterly. A 7 lb rise for that looks manageable. Player. Essentially progressive; up 7lb for last time but that was fairly easy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Beaumesnil |
(10) (17/2 +23%)17/2(+23%) | (10) Beaumesnil 17/2, Has his quirks, as shown when throwing away the win at Catterick. Made amends despite hanging badly left when ridden into a clear lead at Wetherby next time. Capable of defying a 7 lb rise but comes with risks attached. He travelled best before finishing the job off at Wetherby (2m3f, soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mack The Man |
(11) (9/1 +18%)9/1(+18%) | (11) Mack The Man 9/1, Not as good as he was but more of an impact off much-reduced mark and in a first-time visor when runner-up at Ayr 4 weeks ago. Now needs to prove that he can build on that back up in class. The first-time visor prompted a return to form when second at Ayr; this is tougher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Scots Poet |
(7) (9/1 -80%)9/1(-80%) | (7) Scots Poet 9/1, Enhanced good record here when resuming winning ways on New Year's Day (15.6f, soft), overcoming the rise in class in good style. Still on the upgrade so must enter calculations. 6lb rise for his win on New Year's Day sees him on career-high mark but possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hartur D'oudairies |
(8) (11/1 +8%)11/1(+8%) | (8) Hartur D'oudairies 11/1, Fairly useful hurdler for Dan Skelton but left that yard after running poorly on chase debut/return. Pulled up back hurdling at Sedgefield next time (only run for Ben Haslam) but ran better than for a while on only his second outing for this yard when fifth at Newcastle. One to bear in mind again. Lost his way last year and there are no clear signs that he's about to turn things around. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Collingham |
(3) (16/1 -14%)16/1(-14%) | (3) Collingham 16/1, Has drawn a blank since winning the Scottish County here in February 2023, although he did shape as if back in better form when fifth in this year's renewal of that race. Hasn't kicked on, however. Change of headgear. This season hasn't really got going and blinkers are now turned to. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Russian Virtue |
(1) (18/1 -50%)18/1(-50%) | (1) Russian Virtue 18/1, Has thrived for his current yard, gaining an eighth win in 2m1f Carlisle hurdle in December. Decent effort back from a break on the Flat 2 weeks ago which should leave him spot on. Had a good winter over hurdles and a competitive recent show on the AW bodes well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Serious Ego |
(12) (22/1 -100%)22/1(-100%) | (12) Serious Ego 22/1, Veteran who won back-to-back at Hexham in November. Threatening to come good soon but probably not at this speed-favouring track back up in class. Last two wins at Hexham and may need that stiffer stamina test these days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Restandbethankful |
(9) (33/1 -175%)33/1(-175%) | (9) Restandbethankful 33/1, Notched second success over fences at Sedgefield in October and ran well off his lower hurdles mark when runner-up at Catterick (15.7f). Ran a stinker here next time, however. Simply never gave his running here two months ago and he's well handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Navigator |
(13) (40/1 -100%)40/1(-100%) | (13) The Navigator 40/1, Has dipped in the weights but looked difficult under various codes last season and has enough to prove on return. Previous winner of this but off since October when running a quiet race at Kelso. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
SCOTS POET looked better than ever when scoring with something up his sleeve at this venue on New Year's Day. The gelded son of Yeats looks capable of defying a 6lb rise in the ratings and he edges the vote over fellow last-time-out winner Coup De Coeur. The six-year-old was quite taking on his Sedgefield romp and he should remain competitive off a 7lb higher mark, while Beaumesnil likely has more to offer in retained blinkers.
Plenty to consider with the improving SCOTS POET edging the vote at a track where he goes well. Beaumesnil and Coup de Coeur both had a bit to spare when winning last time so they head the dangers.
The selection is last year's winner CUBAN CIGAR (nap) who ran so well in the Scottish County Hurdle two runs back.

Isholo Du Vivien |
(3) (5/2 +9%)5/2(+9%) | (3) Isholo Du Vivien 5/2, Point winner who has been placed on all 3 outings in maiden/novice hurdles this winter. His opening handicap mark looks workable and he has a much less exposed profile than most of these. Goes into handicaps off a realistic mark and the longer trip should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Is Bob |
(8) (11/4 +39%)11/4(+39%) | (8) This Is Bob 11/4, Has shown he can be competitive from ahis basement mark when placed over 2m at Newcastle and Hexham in recent months. Claims if first-time cheekpieces and a longer trip help him to pull out a bit more. Could bounce back from his remote third at Hexham on this very different track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hattons Gardens |
(2) (5/1 +0%)5/1(+0%) | (2) Hattons Gardens 5/1, Modest form but his fourth over this trip at Hexham last spring shows he can be competitive from his mark. Pulled up on Kelso reappearance in November and off since. Cheekpieces and tongue tie combination worn last time discarded. Now returns from another absence but there are races in him off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Prontoanita |
(6) (5/1 +0%)5/1(+0%) | (6) Prontoanita 5/1, Shaped with some encouragement in a brace of bumpers but has yet to get going over hurdles, including well beaten on Perth handicap debut at the end of December. Could only consider if backed on this return from a 3-month break Fair bumper form but not progressed over hurdles and was tailed off on her handicap debut. |

(7) (9/1 +44%)9/1(+44%) | (7) Not In Kansas 9/1, Poor form, including well held on Perth handicap debut last May. Absent since and could only consider if backed. Unplaced all five hurdles, latterly when well beaten on handicap debut at Perth. |

Agilulf |
(4) (14/1 -17%)14/1(-17%) | (4) Agilulf 14/1, Modest maiden who was well beaten at Perth when last seen in May. The percentage call is to look elsewhere after such a long time off. No closer than 20l in his three completed handicaps over hurdles and others appeal more. |

Shoughall's Boy |
(10) (16/1 +52%)16/1(+52%) | (10) Shoughall's Boy 16/1, Dual Hexham winner in 2021 but has largely struggled since, pulling up on return from a year off at Hexham last month. Mostly disappointing since winning twice at Hexham in late 2021. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This Is Bob finished a well-beaten third in this grade over 2m at Hereford but he sports first-time cheekpieces now and takes a step back up in trip, which could eke out some improvement. However, preference is for point-to-point winner ISHOLO DU VIVIEN, who has hit the frame on each of his three hurdle starts and stepping up in distance on his handicap bow should suit. Donald McCain's six-year-old could defy his opening mark of 95 under Brian Hughes, while Misscarlett can fight it out for the minor honours on her return to this sphere.
ISHOLO DU VIVIEN looks on a workable mark for this handicap debut and Donald McCain's unexposed 6-y-o is preferred to This Is Bob in a contest where few arrive with compelling claims.
A chance is taken on HATTONS GARDENS who had excuses last time after a break and had previously run really well at Hexham.

Reflection Of You |
(4) (11/8 +27%)11/8(+27%) | (4) Reflection Of You 11/8, €37,000 3-y-o, £140,000 4-y-o, Jack Hobbs mare. Half-sister to 2 winners, including fairly useful hurdler The Wounded Knee. Won sole start in Irish points (Oct 2023). Cost £140,000 soon after winning a soft-ground Irish point by just under 3l in Oct. |

Jewel Of Windsor |
(3) (9/4 -13%)9/4(-13%) | (3) Jewel Of Windsor 9/4, €28,000 3-y-o, It's Gino mare. Half-sister to 3 winners, including fairly useful French hurdler/chaser French Bird and 19f hurdle winner in France Down Under. Dam unraced. Runner-up on last of 3 starts in points (Jan 21). Wears hood. Notable Rules newcomer for shrewd outfit. Behind Reflection Of You in a point but could be an improver now with Emmet Mullins. |

Sagonige |
(1) (4/1 -20%)4/1(-20%) | (1) Sagonige 4/1, Half-sister to bumper winner Lunar Chief. Dam (h92) bumper winner. Overcame a less-than-ideal position when landing an 8-runner bumper at Sedgefield 101 days ago and deserves plenty of respect under a penalty. 9-1 and prevailed narrowly from a Lucinda Russell-trained odds-on favourite at Sedgefield. |

Beau Della |
(2) (10/1 -11%)10/1(-11%) | (2) Beau Della 10/1, Mount Nelson mare. Dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 3m) Vieux Lille. Noteworthy newcomer. Third foal; dam unraced sister to point winner Commanding Spirit. |

Caledonian Pearl |
(6) (22/1 -57%)22/1(-57%) | (6) Caledonian Pearl 22/1, Nathaniel filly who shaped better than the result at Huntingdon on debut but failed to back it up at Kelso 49 days ago. Others make more appeal. Beaten 11l (good) and 23l (soft) in two bumpers, both times under Patrick Wadge. |

Lizzie Luna |
(7) (22/1 -38%)22/1(-38%) | (7) Lizzie Luna 22/1, Telescope filly. Dam placed in bumpers. Market check advised on debut. First foal; dam third in a bumper, half-sister to a point winner; market check suggested. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
REFLECTION OF YOU changed hands for a whopping 140,000 pounds in November after scoring on her only point-to-point start in good style the previous month. Lucinda Russell's five-year-old is related to plenty of winners and could make a big impression on her debut under Rules. Sagonige got up by a neck at Sedgefield on Boxing Day when making her racecourse bow and she should make a bold bid under a 7lb penalty. Any market support for Beau Della would also be interesting.
REFLECTION OF YOU cost plenty on the back of a point win and has the potential to be above-average, so she's the most appealing for all that Jewel of Windsor is another interesting recruit from that sphere.
Reflection Of You had JEWEL OF WINDSOR about 10l behind when winning her point but the selection is now with Emmet Mullins.
Ths is the racecard key.
