1st (2) (6/5 +66%) Magnetic North |
6/5(+66%) | (2) Magnetic North 6/5, Bagged back-to-back claimers on the Flat in Ireland during the summer but hasn't made much of an impact in 4 runs on the Flat for this yard. Showed little over hurdles for previous connections so would need stablemate to underperform significantly to score here. Poor over hurdles but has won 11 times on the Flat; best alternative to his stablemate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2/7 +12%) We'llhavewan |
2/7(+12%) | (1) We'llhavewan 2/7, Useful hurdler for Willie Mullins who went off 13/2 for the Irish Grand National in April. Failed to progress over fences and although has a fair bit to prove following 3 low key starts for new yard this is significantly easier. Poor in three starts for this yard but his back-class is miles ahead of these rivals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/1 +75%) Straitouttacompton |
7/1(+75%) | (4) Straitouttacompton 7/1, Poor on Flat nowadays and has offered little in 4 starts over hurdles, including on handicap debut in this sphere at Stratford in October. Losing run up to 39 and he is 39lb wrong; will need the others to misfire. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (14/1 +58%) Tio Mio |
14/1(+58%) | (3) Tio Mio 14/1, Fair Flat winner at his best but this year's efforts in that sphere have lacked spark and he went out like a light back hurdling here in September when sent off 150/1. Off three months and hard to make a case for from 19lb wrong, even in a race like this. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
WE'LLHAVEWAN was winning a Listed event at Navan for Willie Mullins around this time last year. He has failed to run up to the same level since switching to Rebecca Menzies' yard, but this is much easier than his recent assignments and he will likely prove a cut above the opposition. The remainder race from out of the handicap, including the selection's stablemate Magnetic North, who is fit from the Flat and reverts to hurdling with a shout in this grade. Straitouttacompton is preferred to Tio Mio of the remaining pair.
WE’LLHAVEWAN was sent off 13/2 for this year’s Irish National for Willie Mullins and although has disappointed for new connections in 3 starts, this is significantly easier. Stablemate Magnetic North is a tentative selection to follow him home.
Despite him having lost his way, it's hard to oppose WE'LLHAVEWAN given his back-class and with his rivals well out of the weights.

1st (2) (13/2 -86%) Asa |
13/2(-86%) | (2) Asa 13/2, Off the mark in 10-runner Cartmel handicap hurdle (2¾m, good) in June and made quite an eye-catching start to chasing career when fifth at Kelso in October. Shaped as though amiss at Wetherby since and she's not one to write off. 2m6f hurdles winner who had an excuse when pulled up over fences last time; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (11/4 +8%) Some Bro |
11/4(+8%) | (6) Some Bro 11/4, Placed a couple of times between the flags and while he didn't show much in 3 runs over hurdles, he was in the process of showing vastly improved form before a bad mistake 3 out ended his race on chase debut here (21.4f, soft) last month. One to be interested in. Running a big race before sprawling on landing three out here last month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/3 +79%) Abbeyhill |
10/3(+79%) | (4) Abbeyhill 10/3, Irish point scorer who ended last term on the up, going in at Plumpton and Catterick, both at around 25f. However, his efforts so far this season have left much to be desired. Cheekpieces added to tongue tie. Dual hurdles winner but well beaten in both starts over fences recently; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/2 +36%) Dunworley |
7/2(+36%) | (3) Dunworley 7/2, Maiden pointer and 0-7 under Rules. Wasn't disgraced when fourth of 10 on his seasonal reappearance here (21.4f, soft) last month but will need to find improvement from somewhere if he's to open his account. Yet to win but has made the frame the last twice; stays this far and each-way claims again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (22/1 -214%) Lady Pacifico |
22/1(-214%) | (7) Lady Pacifico 22/1, Flat/hurdles winner who made a decent start for this stable when third at Leicester on chase bow last November. Not so good next 2 starts but signed off with a creditable fifth at Stratford (27.5f, good to soft) during the spring and she's by no means a forlorn hope. Has shown some aptitude for chasing but off for eight months and losing run up to 16. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (40/1 +20%) Scottsdale |
40/1(+20%) | (8) Scottsdale 40/1, Remains winless over fences and looks set for another struggle. 0-20 over fences and has plenty on from 8lb out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (15/2 -36%) Stuti |
15/2(-36%) | (1) Stuti 15/2, Bumper winner and placed a few times over hurdles. Ran no sort of race after 4 months off at Southwell in October but she got loose beforehand that day and she's worth a market check on chasing debut. Twice placed over hurdles here; respected now upped in trip and switched to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (15/2 -36%) Ronnies Reflection |
15/2(-36%) | (5) Ronnies Reflection 15/2, Little to shout about over hurdles but showed more following a second wind op when third on return/chase debut in an 8-runner handicap at Leicester (22.7f, soft) where he was ½-length adrift of runner-up Everyonesacritic. Solid claims. Third on recent chase debut (made a bad mistake at a vital stage); something to build on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Well held in four starts over hurdles, RONNIES REFLECTION posted a better effort when tackling fences for the first time, finishing a respectable third at Leicester. He has the scope to rate higher than his current mark over the larger obstacles and a bold bid is anticipated. Asa failed to fire at Wetherby last month, but has a shout if building on her fifth at Kelso before that. Stuti has placed over hurdles here and is one to note upped in distance for her chasing bow.
SOME BRO was shaping like he was in with a big shout when making a chance-ending error 3 out here a month ago and he's worth a chance to confirm that promise. Another solid showing from Ronnies Reflection is on the cards and Asa needs respecting based on the way he shaped on his penultimate start.
Another chance is given to ASA who had an excuse when pulled up last time and had made a promising chasing debut the time before.

1st (4) (9/2 0%) Jackpot D'ainay |
9/2(0%) | (4) Jackpot D'ainay 9/2, Bred to stay well and having made the frame both starts in bumpers, he shaped well when third of 8 on return/hurdles debut at Uttoxeter in October. Had just lost second when falling at the last in a first-time hood at Ffos Las next time and he remains with potential. Has consistent form; in the process of running creditably when late faller last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/6 +83%) Diamond Koda |
5/6(+83%) | (3) Diamond Koda 5/6, Fairly useful form when runner-up all 3 starts in bumpers and hasn't done much wrong since switched to hurdles, finishing third of 10 on return/handicap bow at Carlisle (17.2f, good to soft). Should pick up a race soon enough but he probably lacks the scope of some of these rivals. Consistent maiden; ran well at Carlisle most recently; again should be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (7/1 -8%) Muzaffar |
7/1(-8%) | (6) Muzaffar 7/1, Made a highly encouraging start to hurdling career at Newcastle last December, having previously been useful on the flat for Richard Fahey. Can resume progress after a year off the track. Fair on Flat; absent since finishing third at Newcastle (hurdles debut) last December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (33/1 +18%) Blazer Two |
33/1(+18%) | (2) Blazer Two 33/1, Modest handicapper on Flat, finishing last of 12 at Newcastle on latest start in October. Switch to jumps might unlock some improvement but this could be a tough race to begin hurdling career. Has had a breathing op/also tongue tied first time. Modest handicapper on Flat; seemingly brings limited potential to this code. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (66/1 +34%) Midnight Phantom |
66/1(+34%) | (5) Midnight Phantom 66/1, No show in a bumper on debut in February 2023 and was already beating a retreat when falling at the fifth flight sent hurdling on the back of a lengthy absence at Newcastle 12 days ago. Probably one for the longer term and opposable here. Twice-raced 5yo who has no form claims; mid-race faller switched to hurdles last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
INDEEVAR BLEU landed the odds at Leicester with the minimum of fuss on his first start for over a year. Olly Murphy's charge can confirm the promise of that success and defy a penalty. His stablemate Jackpot D'ainay fell at the last at Ffos Las, but had looked set to place before that and could feature with a clear round. Diamond Koda made the frame in a handicap hurdle at Carlisle last time and has place claims once again.
INDEEVAR BLEU returned to win easily at Leicester, having been a novice hurdler to look out for prior to his 13-month absence. He looks a class apart here, though his stablemate Jackpot d’Ainay may give him most to think about. Diamond Koda has been unlucky not to have a win to his name and will likely give another good account.
Having won in a canter at Leicester, INDEEVAR BLEU looks capable of following up. His stablemate Jackpot D'Ainay is second choice.

1st (5) (9/2 -13%) O'connell |
9/2(-13%) | (5) O'connell 9/2, Winning Irish pointer who got off the mark in handicap chase here last December before finishing a creditable fourth in the 2023 renewal of this race. Back on the up with a game success at Carlisle (24.5f, soft) last time (Illico de Cotte around 4½ lengths back in third) and he has to be respected. 5lb higher than when winning narrowly at Carlisle; needs soft ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/1 +55%) Concetto |
9/1(+55%) | (4) Concetto 9/1, Won twice last term but he was beaten fair and square off a lower mark in this race 12 months ago, and his efforts at Kempton and Ascot this season have lacked spark. Well beaten in both starts since returning in October and needs to get back on track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (18/1 +28%) Giovanni Change |
18/1(+28%) | (10) Giovanni Change 18/1, Runner-up in 21.4f novices' handicap chase on this card last year and placed over hurdles here either side of that. It's been a struggle since but he has fallen a long way in the weights. Out of form lately and pulled up in last two starts over fences; best to look elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (11/1 -175%) Ballydisco |
11/1(-175%) | (8) Ballydisco 11/1, Twice successful over hurdles and, though 0-7 in this sphere, he has gone close on a couple of occasions in handicap chases, including when just held in a 4-runner affair at Wetherby (24.2f, good) last month. Not discounted. Might have won had his rider not dropped his whip at Wetherby last month; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (14/1 -87%) Inis Oirr |
14/1(-87%) | (1) Inis Oirr 14/1, Improved for the first-time visor and an increased stamina test when bolting up in the 4m Edinburgh National at Musselburgh in February. Placed both completed starts since but pulled up after a bad mistake at Ascot last time and he's 7 lb higher than when finishing fifth in this race last year. Stays at least this far; twice placed off higher marks in the autumn; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (7) (15/8 +32%) Kelce |
15/8(+32%) | (7) Kelce 15/8, Didn't show much over hurdles but has looked a different animal sent chasing with cheekpieces enlisted on last 3 starts, finding just one too good twice before opening his account in an 8-runner handicap here (3m, soft). 7 lb rise fair and this stamina test should be right up his street. 7lb higher than when winning in good style here three weeks ago; set for another big run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (5/1 +64%) The Wrekin |
5/1(+64%) | (9) The Wrekin 5/1, Off the mark over fences at fourth attempt when taking 5-runner handicap here (3m, good) in August of last year. However, he hasn't made much of an impact in a couple of runs at Uttoxeter since returning from a 15-month absence. Blinkers replace cheekpieces. Well beaten in both starts since returning in October from a long absence; blinkers go on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (16/1 +0%) Crosspark |
16/1(+0%) | (2) Crosspark 16/1, Been a cracking servant over the years and ended a long losing run when landing a veterans' event at Huntingdon on return last season. Followed that with a near-miss in this race 12 months ago and, likely to come on for his reappearance spin behind O'Connell at Carlisle, he's hard to discount. 14yo; beaten a neck from 3lb lower in this race last year; can't be dismissed easily. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (20/1 +20%) Herewegohoney |
20/1(+20%) | (3) Herewegohoney 20/1, C&D winner. 22/1, fourth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Newcastle (23.7f, good) 56 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Lightly raced and out of form since winning over C&D in summer 2023. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
KELCE got off the mark at the third attempt over fences here earlier in the month with a fine round of jumping. The six-year-old steps up in trip and may have further progression to come, despite a 7lb rise. Ballydisco showed no ill-effects from his Carlisle fall when touched off at Wetherby and he enters calculations along with O'Connell, who finished fourth when sent off favourite 12 months ago and returns following a game success at Carlisle.
KELCE has benefited from positive tactics lately and had plenty in hand at Hereford last time, so he's fancied to go in again in a race where he should be able to grab the initiative early. O'Connell and Ballydisco arrive on the back of good efforts in defeat, and are lively dangers.
Four from this race last year have another go but KELCE (nap) looked progressive when winning nicely here three weeks ago.

1st (2) (9/4 +18%) Denemethy |
9/4(+18%) | (2) Denemethy 9/4, Irish point winner who made it third time lucky under Rules when landing a Wincanton maiden hurdle in March. Given a considerate introduction to chasing after 8 months off at Exeter (17.5f, heavy) earlier this month and he's open to improvement in this sphere. Twice held since winning over hurdles, including on chase debut; may have come on for it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/2 +29%) Kuzco |
5/2(+29%) | (4) Kuzco 5/2, Ran to a fair level in bumpers in France for Emmanuel Clayeux and has shown ability without troubling the judge in a handful of appearances over hurdles. Interesting to see what the market makes of him ahead of this chase debut getting plenty of weight. Still open to improvement and the market might be revealing now he's switched to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (7/2 -56%) Galunggung |
7/2(-56%) | (1) Galunggung 7/2, Progressive, dual winner over hurdles who made perfect start in this sphere when winning 4-runner handicap at Perth (2m, good to soft) in May. Looked in need of the run when checking out rather tamely back from a 6-month break at Haydock and it'd be no surprise were he to get back on track. Progressive in the spring but disappointed on his return; major player on earlier promise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (11/4 -22%) Damarta |
11/4(-22%) | (3) Damarta 11/4, Comfortable winner over hurdles at Southwell in January and backed it up with solid performances next 2 starts. Failed to build on encouraging reappearance/chase debut when only fourth at Warwick a fortnight ago but he's capable of better and worth another chance. Winning hurdler who hasn't totally convinced with his jumping in two chases. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
GALUNGGUNG appears to be worth another chance following his disappointing return from a break at Haydock last month. The ease in grade is likely to benefit him and Donald McCain's gelding also has less questions to answer than the opposition. Damarta made some jumping errors when fourth at Warwick and will need to be sharper in that department. With that in mind, Kuzco is nominated as the main threat, with the switch to fences a potential source of improvement.
DAMARTA shaped well on his chasing debut and, although his jumping lacked fluency again when failing to build on it at Warwick, there was plenty of pressure applied and this looks a more suitable scenario. He's narrowly preferred to Galunggung, while a case can be made for the remaining duo.
The choice is GALUNGGUNG who disappointed on his return from six months off but had looked progressive in the spring.

1st (6) (4/1 +43%) Alright Dai |
4/1(+43%) | (6) Alright Dai 4/1, Made the frame in a trio of bumpers for Dan Skelton but yet to better poor form over hurdles, failing to justify strong market support when last seen at Southwell in June on the back of a 6-month break. Could feature if ready to go after another break in first-time cheekpieces. Promise in three bumpers but a limited impact over hurdles; has stamina to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/2 +36%) Jingle Jangle Jet |
9/2(+36%) | (5) Jingle Jangle Jet 9/2, Showed little in a couple of bumpers and a trio of maiden hurdles but revealed more when upped in trip when fifth of 16 on handicap debut at Newcastle. Each-way chance if able to build on that in first-time cheekpieces here. Seemed to improve for this longer trip when fifth at Newcastle 12 days ago; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (10/1 +17%) Rhodia |
10/1(+17%) | (8) Rhodia 10/1, Placed in bumpers and not disgraced on back of wind surgery over hurdles last season, finishing sixth of 12 at Stratford (18.7f, good to soft) when last seen during the spring. Likely to find one or two too good once more. 0-13 under rules and others make more appeal on his return from eight months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (4/1 +0%) Rehill Relic |
4/1(+0%) | (1) Rehill Relic 4/1, Point winner who showed promise in bumpers/novice hurdles last season. Safely held first 2 starts of present campaign but latest third of 13 at Doncaster (19.4f, good) represented a step back in the right direction and he has to enter calculations. Ran his best race over hurdles when third at Doncaster last time; runner-up has won since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (10/3 +17%) Dexperado |
10/3(+17%) | (4) Dexperado 10/3, Left low-key maiden/novice form behind upped to this trip/switched to handicaps when runner-up over C&D on final 2 starts of last season. Both of those races have worked out well and is probably the one to beat if bouncing back from an underwhelming return last month. Twice runner-up over C&D in spring but disappointed on return; contender if bouncing back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (12/1 -200%) Traveling Soldier |
12/1(-200%) | (2) Traveling Soldier 12/1, Runner-up sole outing in Irish points and showed a fair bit when second in 7-runner maiden hurdle at Perth on second start under Rules in May. Failed to make the anticipated improvement on handicap debut but may yet do so back up in trip here. Poor in last three starts, as when tailed-off last of three here last month; lots to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (6/1 -71%) Dino Bellagio |
6/1(-71%) | (3) Dino Bellagio 6/1, Fairly useful dual bumper winner and produced his best effort since switched to hurdles when fourth in 5-runner handicap here (16.6f, soft) 3 weeks ago, only beaten around 3 lengths. Step up in trip could suit provided he settles well again. Dual bumper winner who is 0-5 over hurdles but he may improve for the longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (33/1 +0%) Raincloud |
33/1(+0%) | (7) Raincloud 33/1, Runner-up in a Cartmel maiden hurdle during the summer but that is a standout effort (in terms of both jumps and Flat form) and she continues to look vulnerable from a win point of view. Twice runner-up since the summer but may not have achieved that much; 0-22 under rules. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Rehill Relic bounced back to form with a respectable third at Doncaster last month and he warrant consideration off just 1lb higher. However, DINO BELLAGIO looks just the type to improve for this step up in distance. Donald McCain's gelding was only beaten three lengths when finishing fourth over an extended 2m here three weeks ago and a breakthrough victory in this discipline looks imminent. Traveling Soldier is also noted now faced with a stiffer test.
DEXPERADO twice came second over course and distance in the spring to horses who have gone on to frank the form. Forgiven an underwhelming return last month, he is fancied to gain a first career success. In a competitive handicap, Rehill Relic will go close if replicating his Doncaster effort and Traveling Soldier looks the type to show improvement at some stage this season.
The vote goes to REHILL RELIC after his good third at Doncaster last time, form that has been franked by the runner-up.

1st (7) (5/2 +58%) Inishnabro |
5/2(+58%) | (7) Inishnabro 5/2, Half-brother to a couple of winning hurdlers and won by a wide margin on the second of his 2 runs between the flags. Has shaped fairly well both starts over hurdles, namely maidens here and at Southwell (both at around 2m), and he could do better now upped in trip for this handicap debut. Ability in both hurdle starts; the longer trip should suit; open to plenty of improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (13/2 -18%) Diamond Dice |
13/2(-18%) | (4) Diamond Dice 13/2, Ludlow maiden winner in February and was still in contention when falling 2 out in a Huntingdon handicap (20.7f, heavy) won by Bread And Butter earlier this month. He should make his presence felt granted a clear round. Maiden hurdle winner but patchy form in handicaps and yet to prove he stays this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (12/1 -50%) Belvedere Blast |
12/1(-50%) | (6) Belvedere Blast 12/1, Scored at Hexham in June and posted his best effort since when third in an 8-runner handicap at Wetherby (2m, heavy) where he finished strongly. This step back up in trip will be in his favour and he's one to consider off the same mark. 6lb lower than when winning at Hexham in June and got closer again last time; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5/1 -25%) Salley Gardens |
5/1(-25%) | (2) Salley Gardens 5/1, Successful off this mark over fences in 2022 and solid reappearance display following 17 months off when a close second in a Leicester handicap hurdle (15.5f, good to soft). Reproduction of that effort would put him in the picture. Ran a blinder on return from mammoth absence; this sort of trip suits him even better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (4/1 0%) Homme D'un Soir |
4/1(0%) | (1) Homme D'un Soir 4/1, Largely creditable efforts since joining this yard, deservedly opened his account for the stable when seeing off 4 rivals back from a break here (16.6f, soft) 3 weeks ago. Nudged up just 3 lb and it would be no surprise to see him involved in the finish. Back to winning form here three weeks ago; return to further shouldn't be an issue; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (11/4 +21%) Gilbertina |
11/4(+21%) | (3) Gilbertina 11/4, Runs well here and has finished first and second in the past two renewals of this race. Runner up to the in-form Bread And Butter here last month suggests she is primed to go close again today. Dual course winner from 5lb lower, including of this race two years ago; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (33/1 +0%) Cawthorne Banker |
33/1(+0%) | (8) Cawthorne Banker 33/1, Fairly useful bumper performer who doubled his tally over hurdles at Fontwell (17.7f, good) in May. Well beaten on 2 of his 3 subsequent starts switched to fences and suffered another heavy defeat back hurdling at Lingfield recently. Opposable. Off last winning mark, but recent runs raise doubts as to whether he can take advantage. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SALLEY GARDENS performed much better than forecast when finishing a staying-on second over an inadequate trip at Leicester last month. That was the eight-year-old's first outing in 515 days and compensation could be on the cards over this longer distance. Homme D'Un Soir made all here 21 days ago and is effectively racing off the same mark now that Alice Stevens can use her 3lb claim. Billy Aprahamian's gelding is feared most, ahead of Gilbertina.
GILBERTINA has finished first and second in the last 2 renewals of this race and will likely be involved again this year. Inishnabro is interesting up in trip now quickly switched to handicaps, with Diamond Dice another player if none for the worse after a recent fall.
The vote goes to BELVEDERE BLAST who signalled a return to form last time and is 6lb below his last winning mark.
Ths is the racecard key.
