(5) Magic Wave 3/10, Progressive in bumpers, off the mark at the third attempt at Ayr on last season's reappearance. Decent start to hurdles career when second to a useful sort at Wetherby a year ago but off since. This looks an excellent opportunity.
Bumper winner who was good second on hurdle debut; returns from layoff, but leading claims.

LTO Selection:

11:57 Market Rasen Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The votes goes to MAGIC WAVE, who bumped into the now 135-rated Pembroke at Wetherby when last seen. The fact Mark Walford's gelding was sent off as favourite that day would suggest he had been showing up well at home, so he might be a tall order if returning at the top of his game. Pertemps Diamond's best performance came when finishing third to the useful Willlmount in a Doncaster bumper in January and although he failed to kick on thereafter, he's an interesting prospect now switched to hurdles. Hiero Sport appeals most of the remainder.

Useful-bumper winner MAGIC WAVE was beaten only by a useful sort on his hurdles bow at Wetherby when last seen 12 months ago and can start to make up for lost time. J'Habite En France and El Saviour make most appeal of the others.

He has a 365-day absence to defy, but MAGIC WAVE looked a useful prospect last autumn. J'Habite En France is second choice.

LTO Selection:

12:30 Market Rasen Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LADY GWEN escapes a penalty having landed a conditional riders' event under Kai Lenihan one week ago and that could prove vital as Kim Bailey's in-form mare bids to repeat the dose. Minella Plus continues to fall down the handicap and it would be no surprise to see an improved showing now eased in class. Climate Precedent, who makes his handicap debut from what appears to be a workable mark, is also noted.

A few with chances but LADY GWEN escapes a penalty for her recent Taunton conditional jockeys' success so is hard to oppose. Minella Plus took a step back in the right direction when fifth at Ludlow last time and appeals as the one to chase home Kim Bailey's mare, with Climate Precedent appealing as the pick of the rest for minor honours.

The 5yo mare LADY GWEN prevailed in a big field at Taunton last Thursday and escapes a penalty here. Hugueneau is a danger.

LTO Selection:

13:05 Market Rasen Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

It might pay to side with JERSEY LADY, who failed to live up to market expectations on her stable debut earlier this month. That effort ought to have blown away the cobwebs, however, and the daughter of Martaline, who stays further than this, will appreciate the step up in trip. Sinndarella was a winner at Cartmel in August and she looks a likely player from just 4lb higher. Gaye Legacy should not be underestimated either.

GAYE LEGACY looked ahead of her mark when a staying-on third at Chepstow last time and, with this longer trip likely to bring more out of her, she's fancied to get off the mark at the possible expense of last-time-out winner Sinndarella. Jersey Lady is also considered.

The lightly raced GAYE LEGACY is from the family of smart staying chaser Simon and this step up in trip could be just what she needs.

Made all at Uttoxeter in July and he's had excuses the last twice; could make a bold bid.
LTO Selection:

13:40 Market Rasen Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Last year's Coral Gold Cup hero Le Milos returns to action having run well for a long way in the Grand National before not appearing to quite get home in the closing stages. Dan Skelton's gelding is likely to need this outing ahead of bigger assignments back over the larger obstacles and the vote, therefore, goes to SPIKE JONES. Pulled up at Cheltenham last month, the six-year-old is expected to leave that performance behind him. Itchy Feet and Jet Of Magic appeal most of the remainder.

LE MILOS raised his game over fences for Dan Skelton last season and now reverts to hurdling on a favourable mark on the pick of those efforts, so he looks the most persuasive option. Jet of Magic isn't the most fluent of jumpers, but he shaped better than the distance beaten suggests in a well-contested handicap at Cheltenham on his most recent outing and should find this easier.

Preference is for the front-runner JET OF MAGIC, who won at Uttoxeter in July and for whom early interference proved costly last month.

Could improve for the drop back in trip on this second chase start and he's a possible.
LTO Selection:

14:15 Market Rasen Handicap Chase (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

THE SAME won a maiden hurdle here in March before running with credit on a few occasions at Ffos Las. A point-to-point winner last October, the switch to chasing is likely to see him in a better light and he appears to have plenty in his favour. Pearly Island should appreciate a drop back in trip following his chasing bow at Huntingdon, while Prairie Wolf is capable of a decent showing.

A former Irish point winner, THE SAME made a bright start over hurdles earlier this year, successful at this venue prior to posting a pair of in-the-frame efforts in novice company. Appealing as the type to make his mark in this sphere, he earns the vote to come out on top on return/handicap debut. Prairie Wolf is another of interest now chasing, whilst Rocky Lake is a player on the pick of his chase form.

Having shown promise on all three hurdle starts, point winner THE SAME gets the nod in the hope he will improve now chasing.

LTO Selection:

14:50 Market Rasen Handicap Chase (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Although HAUT FOLIN appeared to take some time to acclimatise to racing in the UK, Venetia Williams' gelding was quite taking when landing a first success in this country at Ffos Las recently and he should take all the beating under a 7lb penalty. Henschke regained the winning thread at Plumpton in May and the nine-year-old could give the selection most to think about off only 3lb higher, ahead of the in-form Pachacuti, who is unexposed over fences.

HAUT FOLIN looks well in under a penalty after bolting up at Ffos Las earlier in the month and should take plenty of beating if in the same form. Post Chaise is most feared having appeared to just be lacking in match sharpness at Sedgefield on his return, whilst Henschke was in the form of his life in the spring and is another player on return.

Having won with something to spare on his recent reappearance at Ffos Las, HAUT FOLIN (nap) can follow up under a 7lb penalty.

LTO Selection:

15:25 Market Rasen NH Flat Race (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

DENBURN was an impressive winner when opening his account on debut over C&D in May and a bumper double could be on the cards if running to a similar level on his reappearance. Representatives from the Dan Skelton yard always warrant respect at this level and any market support for newcomer Yhprum's Law would be worth noting. Stay If U Want To wasn't quite up to class 2 standards when finishing eighth at Cheltenham last month, but the four-year-old should prove more competitive here.

Denburn is sure to be popular having made an impressive winning debut over C&D 6 months ago but he must shoulder a penalty, so preference is for YHPRUM'S LAW, who ticks plenty of boxes and represents a yard just starting to kick into top gear. Brave Move and Just One Surf are another couple to note in a race where the betting will no doubt reveal plenty.

He carries a 7lb penalty against some interesting newcomers but DENBURN created a good impression when winning over C&D on his debut.
