1st (2) (0.73/1 +34%) Book Of Secrets |
0.73/1(+34%) | (2) Book Of Secrets 0.73/1, Fair on the Flat and similar standard over hurdles. Left Dan Skelton after finishing runner-up in a Stratford seller in May and, after a couple of below-par efforts, returned to form in first-time cheekpieces when second in novice at Southwell last time. Leading contender. Back in form with clear second in first-time cheekpieces last month; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (8/1 +20%) Abraaj |
8/1(+20%) | (1) Abraaj 8/1, Fairly useful on the Flat in France and showed that he retains ability when runner-up in handicap at Kempton (2m, AW) in June. However, well held on the level 17 days ago and only modest form on his previous 2 starts over hurdles in October last year. Not disgraced on hurdle debut in October but out of form on the Flat this year; too risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (25/1 +50%) Araglen Star |
25/1(+50%) | (10) Araglen Star 25/1, Unplaced in bumpers and tailed off on her first 3 starts over hurdles. In first-time cheekpieces, showed bit more than previously when mid-field on handicap debut at Uttoxeter (19.9f) 18 days ago, though needs to find plenty more again to get competitive. Beaten about 19l off a lowly mark on recent handicap debut; improvement required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (2.75/1 +17%) Moro Rock |
2.75/1(+17%) | (6) Moro Rock 2.75/1, Modest form in bumpers and ran to a similar level when fourth of 11 in novice at this course (20.6f, soft) on hurdles bow 15 days ago. Could build on that and make his presence felt. Very respectable fourth here (2m4f, soft) on recent hurdling debut; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (25/1 +75%) Selecto |
25/1(+75%) | (7) Selecto 25/1, Modest winner on the Flat (stays 12.5f), but little encouragement when sixth of 7 in novice at Uttoxeter on hurdling debut last month. Has work to do. Ran well to a point on last month's hurdling debut but others appeal more here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (100/1 -150%) Moo Moo's Milan |
100/1(-150%) | (5) Moo Moo's Milan 100/1, Looked badly in need of the experience when down the field in a Worcester novice on debut, but fared no better when well beaten at Southwell 19 days ago. Looks to be up against it. Showed no significant promise on his first two starts (both 2m). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (22/1 -57%) Wise Child |
22/1(-57%) | (8) Wise Child 22/1, €40,000 3-y-o, Robin Des Champs gelding. Dam multiple bumper winner/made frame sole start over hurdles. Little show in Irish points in April/May, so much more required as he makes his first start under Rules. Didn't show a great deal in four Irish points in the spring; rules debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (250/1 -25%) Mrs Jones |
250/1(-25%) | (11) Mrs Jones 250/1, Tailed off both starts in point bumpers in late-2020 and has gone with no promise in maiden/novice hurdles, beaten a long way on her only completed outing. Struggled at huge odds on both starts since returned to racing under rules last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (22/1 +21%) Largy Train |
22/1(+21%) | (4) Largy Train 22/1, Made a winning debut in bumper for Stuart Crawford in May 2021 but has gone the wrong way since, pulled up both starts over hurdles since joining his current yard. Application of cheekpieces not enough to tempt after 7 months off. Bumper winner in 2021 but pulled up in two novice hurdles during the winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (33/1 -200%) Isle Of Oir |
33/1(-200%) | (3) Isle Of Oir 33/1, Shaped promisingly when runner-up in a Punchestown bumper for S. Curling back in March 2021. However, after a 15-month absence he offered little on stable/hurdling debut when pulled up at Uttoxeter in June. Needs to leave his latest run well behind. Second on Irish bumper debut in 2021 but struggled when reappearing over hurdles in June. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BOOK OF SECRETS has been threatening to open his account over obstacles and this looks like a nice opportunity for him to shed his maiden tag. Charles and Adam Pogson's charge was only collared late when second over 2m at Southwell last time and a repeat of that run would see him hard to peg back today. Moro Rock appears to be the biggest danger after making a nice start to his hurdles career when fourth over the extended 2m4f at this venue last time and this drop in trip is likely to suit, while John The Baptist heads the remainder.
In first-time cheekpieces, BOOK OF SECRETS returned to form when runner-up at Southwell 19 days ago and he sets the standard in this contest. The 5-y-o can get the better of Moro Rock, who made the frame at this course on his hurdling debut, while John The Baptist could fare better now handicapping having had a wind op.
He's not one to rely upon heavily but BOOK OF SECRETS ran a big race from the front in first-time cheekpieces at Southwell last month.

1st (5) (0.73/1 +9%) Rock On Harry |
0.73/1(+9%) | (5) Rock On Harry 0.73/1, Bumper winner who is gradually progressing over hurdles, just denied on handicap debut at Worcester latest. Sets clear standard. Very close second on last month's handicap debut; leading contender here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/1 +38%) Calvic |
5/1(+38%) | (1) Calvic 5/1, Successful on one of 5 starts in points and shaped as if better for the run making his Rules debut after a 13-month absence when fourth of 11 in novice hurdle at Worcester (16f, good) on NH debut 32 days ago. Point winner; quite promising fourth on recent rules debut at Worcester. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (2.5/1 +17%) Saint Jaguen |
2.5/1(+17%) | (6) Saint Jaguen 2.5/1, Showed ability in bumpers and made a promising hurdling debut when third of 7 in novice over C&D. Will need further than this to fulfil potential but still looks main threat to the favourite. Pretty good start to hurding career when third over C&D in June; each-way claims at least. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (50/1 -79%) Horizon Dove |
50/1(-79%) | (10) Horizon Dove 50/1, Showed some ability in bumpers last year but unpromising in points and on hurdles bow. Second in two bumpers in 2022 but very disappointing in points/over hurdles this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (50/1 +0%) The Tiger Tank |
50/1(+0%) | (9) The Tiger Tank 50/1, Modest form at best in bumpers in Ireland and well held on hurdling debut for this yard. Struggled when 80-1 for last month's stable/hurdle debut at Stratford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (20/1 -186%) The Scan Man |
20/1(-186%) | (8) The Scan Man 20/1, Doyen gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler (stayed 2¾m) Couleur France. Unplaced in a point bumper and looked short of pace when sixth of 10 in bumper at Hexham (16.2f, good, 15/2) on NH debut 42 days ago. Made low-key rules debut when sixth of ten in Hexham bumper in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (25/1 -150%) Gold In Doha |
25/1(-150%) | (2) Gold In Doha 25/1, Runner-up in a couple of novices for Harry Fry but was sold cheaply after and showed little in selling hurdle at Uttoxeter on return/yard debut. Claims on form shown for Harry Fry but well-held third in a seller on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (125/1 +38%) Le Bayou |
125/1(+38%) | (4) Le Bayou 125/1, Poor handicapper on Flat and offered little on hurdle/yard debut. Pulled up when 150-1 for recent stable/hurdle debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (100/1 -300%) Lark In The Dark |
100/1(-300%) | (3) Lark In The Dark 100/1, €5,000 3-y-o, Walk In The Park gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/smart chaser (17f-2¾m winner) Princesse Kap. Maiden pointer, unplaced last time (May 1). Unplaced in all six Irish points, without showing any significant promise; rules debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ROCK ON HARRY recorded back-to-back second-placed finishes last month and this appears to be the perfect chance to get his head in front. Tom Lacey's runner was just touched off over 2m at Worcester last time, beaten just a short head by a big-priced rival and that form entitles him to great respect today. Saint Jaguen is feared most after his third over C&D last time and he'll know more after running green late in the day on that occasion, while Gold In Doha is another to note.
ROCK ON HARRY was only just denied on his handicap bow at Worcester and this looks an excellent opportunity back in a maiden. Saint Jaguen can follow him home in a weak affair.
The one to beat is ROCK ON HARRY, who returns to novice company after going very close in a recent handicap.

1st (1) (0.73/1 +20%) Guinness Affair |
0.73/1(+20%) | (1) Guinness Affair 0.73/1, Missed all of last season but making up for lost time now, completing a double in determined fashion at Newton Abbot a month ago. Well capable of landing the hat-trick. Has won novice handicap chases the last twice and he's a strong contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (1.88/1 +58%) Heronord |
1.88/1(+58%) | (5) Heronord 1.88/1, Unreliable individual. Won 5-runner handicap chase (5/2) at Newton Abbot (16.3f, good to soft) 20 days ago, kept up to work. Lacks consistency and remains one to treat with caution. Off mark at 24th attempt at Newton Abbot and remains well treated on past exploits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (20/1 +39%) With A Start |
20/1(+39%) | (4) With A Start 20/1, Ex-Irish 2m hurdles winner but he's yet to fire for his current yard and makes little appeal once again. Well beaten when falling 3 out on recent chase debut at Southwell and he's hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) (8.5/1 +23%) A Cheap Thrill |
8.5/1(+23%) | (3) A Cheap Thrill 8.5/1, Fair hurdler/chaser for Emmet Mullins who hasn't fired as yet for current stable but drop back in trip should help. Others make more appeal. Could benefit from the drop back in trip but now 0-17 & hard to be confident about claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HERONORD was a facile winner over the extended 2m at Newton Abbot last time and a repeat of that effort would see him hard to beat today. Evan Williams' charge scored by four lengths on that occasion and this 5lb rise in the ratings doesn't appear likely to be enough to halt her progression. The hat-trick seeking Guinness Affair is likely to pose the most questions to the selection, but this may be a step too far after being raised a total of 11lb by the handicapper for his successive wins, while Rakhine State, who won at Perth last time over the extended 2m, also commands respect.
GUINNESS AFFAIR has an excellent strike rate and found plenty to double his tally over fences at Newton Abbot, so he's preferred to Perth-winner Rakhine State.
Topweight GUINNESS AFFAIR has won five of his eight starts and is taken to complete a hat-trick having won over fences the last twice.

1st (2) (2/1 +67%) The Wrekin |
2/1(+67%) | (2) The Wrekin 2/1, Three-time winner of novice hurdles in 2021. Missed whole of last year but mildly encouraging start to chasing career recently and isn't without a chance. Generally disappointing in recent years but his Ludlow second in April was a good effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (2.5/1 +9%) Croagh Patrick |
2.5/1(+9%) | (7) Croagh Patrick 2.5/1, Regularly gives his running and added another placed effort to the collection at Cartmel 15 days ago. This looks a good chance to get his head in front. Consistent and versatile 8yo who is likely to be right in the thick of things once again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (1.88/1 +53%) Hardy Boy |
1.88/1(+53%) | (3) Hardy Boy 1.88/1, Dual hurdles winner who opened his account over fences at the third attempt at Huntingdon in May, despite again jumping none too fluently. Respectable second at Worcester last time and is likely to feature again. Chase winner in May but whipped round at start on last two appearances; risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (14/1 -40%) Seemingly So |
14/1(-40%) | (6) Seemingly So 14/1, Course winner who is back to a handy mark but was out of sorts when last seen 7 months ago, so others are preferred. Run this track well but not seen since struggling in Lincolnshire National on Boxing Day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (11/1 -47%) Dee Star |
11/1(-47%) | (1) Dee Star 11/1, Cartmel regular who proved better than ever when winning veterans' handicap there (29.4f) in May, his fourth course success. Needed stiffer test when fifth there last time and drops even further in distance now. Best known as a Cartmel specialist; current mark demands a career-best performance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Last-time-out winner Cilluirid arrives in fine fettle, but Tim Easterby's inmate will need to settle better if aspiring to complete a double on this step up to 3m. With that in mind, HARDY BOY makes most appeal. The six-year-old found only a progressive rival too strong over 2m7f at Worcester last time andm despite 1lb rise, he shapes as if there are still races to be won with him off his current mark. Croagh Patrick has been knocking on the door and is a viable alternative in his present form.
CROAGH PATRICK has been running well lately and this doesn't look a strong handicap, so he might be able to belatedly get back on the scoresheet. Hardy Boy looks the main danger and Cilluirid, an old rival of the selection, is a player if he gets the trip.
The suggestion is CROAGH PATRICK (nap), who scores very good marks for consistency and won't mind what the weather does.

1st (5) (3.5/1 +42%) Pardon Me |
3.5/1(+42%) | (5) Pardon Me 3.5/1, Won back to back at Uttoxeter last autumn and may have needed her first outing since when bidding for the hat-trick here 15 days ago. Patrick Wadge takes 5 lb off. No surprise were she to go well. Won two in a row last autumn and could improve for recent comeback run here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (2.75/1 +21%) Classic Lady |
2.75/1(+21%) | (8) Classic Lady 2.75/1, Lightly-raced mare who improved markedly when scoring twice over 3m at Hexham in June. Turned out again quickly and shaped much better than the result under an overly-positive ride when sixth at Cartmel early last month. Could still be on a good mark. Won two in a row then latest Cartmel run may have come too soon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 +40%) Presenting Yeats |
6/1(+40%) | (3) Presenting Yeats 6/1, Bagged a pair of small-field handicap hurdle wins last autumn. Fair fourth at Newton Abbot last time but he isn't one for maximum faith (virtually refused to race on penultimate start. Capable of going well but he's a tricky customer who comes with risks attached. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (3.33/1 +45%) Moon King |
3.33/1(+45%) | (2) Moon King 3.33/1, Doubled his tally over hurdles at Worcester last summer. This summer's efforts no more than respectable (last of 4 over fences latest) but is starting to look well handicapped. Unable to threaten this season but now 7lb lower than when winning last August. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (8/1 -23%) Riggsby |
8/1(-23%) | (7) Riggsby 8/1, Fair stayer on the Flat. Yet to better modest form over hurdles but he shaped better than the result when sixth of 11 over 20.5f at Southwell 15 days ago, staying on from too far back. This trip could suit. Considered. Has shown promise over hurdles but below par the last twice and needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (7/1 +22%) Midnight Glance |
7/1(+22%) | (6) Midnight Glance 7/1, Chase winner last winter but offered little back hurdling on his recent Uttoxeter reappearance. Hard to be confident after that. C&D winner who is not written off, but tailed off on last two starts in January/July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (28/1 +30%) High Yield |
28/1(+30%) | (9) High Yield 28/1, Didn't show much in bumpers and hasn't fared much better over hurdles, pulling up in both handicaps. First outing for 8 months. Pulled up last November/December in his first two handicaps and has plenty to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
CLASSIC LADY may have found her heavy defeat at Cartmel last month coming too soon after winning at Hexham a week earlier and Mark Walford's mare could bounce back to winning ways if freshened up by a small break. Pardon Me is entitled to build on her seasonal debut when finishing eighth here recently, with Patrick Wadge's 5lb claim effectively putting the veteran 2lb below her last winning mark. She could pose the biggest threat to the selection, ahead of the unexposed Fabuleux Du Clos
CLASSIC LADY was a lot better than the result at Cartmel and can show she's still ahead of the handicapper having been freshened up since. Riggsby caught the eye a bit at Southwell last time and is interesting now stepping up in trip given how well he stays on the Flat. Pardon Me could be all the sharper with a recent run under her belt and also makes the shortlist.
She flopped when favourite at Cartmel last time but that race may have come too soon for CLASSIC LADY, who was progressive previously.

1st (6) (8/1 +0%) Spot On Soph |
8/1(+0%) | (6) Spot On Soph 8/1, Mixed record over fences/hurdles last season but capable of being in the mix off current mark. No more than okay in her recent chases and she's 0-11 over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (3.33/1 +5%) Greatness Awaits |
3.33/1(+5%) | (2) Greatness Awaits 3.33/1, Fair on Flat (stays 1½m) and was in the process of running best race over hurdles (fair form) when unseating close home due to slipping saddle in handicap at Uttoxeter last time (would have finished a close second). Big shout off only 1 lb higher. Pressing the winner when unseating on the run-in at Uttoxeter (2m); chance if staying. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/1 +18%) Malina Ocarina |
7/1(+18%) | (4) Malina Ocarina 7/1, Landed a gamble at Southwell in May but proved a let-down there next time and only sixth here (20f) since. Came 5l clear at Southwell (2m4f, good) in May but not so good in her subsequent runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (2/1 +27%) Summergrounds |
2/1(+27%) | (3) Summergrounds 2/1, Fairly useful bumper form. Has hinted at promise over hurdles and produced best effort when fourth of 12 on handicap debut (11/2) at this course (20.6f, good) 58 days ago. Should have more to offer still. Pleasing handicap debut over 2m4f here in June when not getting the clearest of runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (9/1 +44%) Rebel Royal |
9/1(+44%) | (11) Rebel Royal 9/1, Just the one win over hurdles, which was gained back in October 2019, and it's hard to draw any positives from what he's shown in 3 starts since returning from a break. 3lb out of the weights and with a strike-rate of 2-34, he's not wildly appealing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (16/1 -60%) Sufi |
16/1(-60%) | (1) Sufi 16/1, Back to form when winning 8-runner handicap hurdle at Stratford on return and might have found next run coming too soon. Can bounce back. Stratford winner over this far and didn't appear to stay 2m4f at Worcester. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (20/1 +9%) Miss Blennerhasset |
20/1(+9%) | (10) Miss Blennerhasset 20/1, Fair maiden on Flat and easily best effort over hurdles when third of 9 in novice hurdle at this course (20.6f, good, 33/1) 28 days ago in this headgear. Needs to reproduce that back in a handicap. Bit better for the cheekpieces when an 8l third over 2m4f here (good) four weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (9/1 -13%) Melvich Bay |
9/1(-13%) | (8) Melvich Bay 9/1, Looks to be getting her act together now, placed last 2 starts, albeit not solid form. Vulnerable on balance. Doesn't look ahead of her mark and tends to finish weakly; now 0-11. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (18/1 -80%) Warner's Cross |
18/1(-80%) | (5) Warner's Cross 18/1, Easily best effort over hurdles when third of 5 in novice at Huntingdon (15.8f, good to soft) 164 days ago but opening mark demands further improvement. Had wind surgery ahead of handicap debut and there could be some improvement lurking. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (33/1 -18%) Coconut Tudor |
33/1(-18%) | (9) Coconut Tudor 33/1, Disappointing maiden hurdler/chaser who has no recent form. Failed to show much for John Mackie last season and same again in two runs for this yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GREATNESS AWAITS was set to go extremely close on handicap debut at Uttoxeter last Friday until the saddle slipped and the four-year-old unseated his rider in the final strides. Ben Pauling's gelding likely has more to offer and compensation could await off only 1lb higher. Summergrounds offered something to work with when fourth at this venue in June, while Melvich Bay and Spot On Soph complete the shortlist.
GREATNESS AWAITS was about to go down narrowly on his handicap debut when losing his rider in the shadow of the post at Uttoxeter 9 days ago so has obvious claims up only 1 lb. Summergrounds remains with potential in handicaps so is next best ahead of Spot On Soph.
The most appealing option is SUMMERGROUNDS who made an encouraging handicap debut here two months ago.

1st (10) (22/1 -10%) Diana Prince |
22/1(-10%) | (10) Diana Prince 22/1, Point winner. Only minor promise in maiden/novice hurdles but handicaps provide her with a more realistic chance. Has had wind surgery since last seen 8 weeks ago. Winning pointer, modest hurdler; goes handicapping after wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (12/1 -380%) Bari Breeze |
12/1(-380%) | (3) Bari Breeze 12/1, Didn't take to fences in 2022 but his hurdle mark has come down at the same time and he's dangerously well treated having finished second off 9 lb higher early last year. Bumper winner who has been chasing; three seconds over hurdles so capable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3/1 +14%) Minella Youngy |
3/1(+14%) | (1) Minella Youngy 3/1, Fair winning hurdler in Ireland for Gavin Cromwell and more of an impact for current yard when twice runner-up in June. Had a wind op after a lesser run here last month. Also has a tongue strap refitted. Twice second before disappointing here; combining aids may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (10/1 +38%) Miss Wachit |
10/1(+38%) | (6) Miss Wachit 10/1, Won over hurdles at Southwell last summer. Also second over fences there last summer but it's been largely downhill since. Reverts to hurdles after a recent wind op. On sole winning mark but needs to get career back on track after quiet start for this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (4.5/1 -13%) Rhodia |
4.5/1(-13%) | (4) Rhodia 4.5/1, Runner-up twice in bumpers. Yet to better modest form over hurdles but she might have needed her Cartmel handicap debut after 4 months off and this sort of mark shouldn't be beyond her judged on her bumper exploits. There has been promise and perhaps Cartmel didn't suit on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (3/1 +57%) Black Lightning |
3/1(+57%) | (9) Black Lightning 3/1, Course winner. Fourteen runs since last win in 2021 but has run with credit when reaching the frame over 20.5f here on all 3 outings this summer. Should figure again. Finds winning difficult but has posted three respectable efforts on the bounce. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (150/1 -127%) Ballynaveen Boy |
150/1(-127%) | (11) Ballynaveen Boy 150/1, Little form on Flat/over hurdles. Limited maiden; huge odds when nowhere in two handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (40/1 -21%) Carapaz |
40/1(-21%) | (7) Carapaz 40/1, Failed to complete both starts in points and has no more than hinted at ability over hurdles in recent months, pulling up on handicap debut 12 days ago. Unconvincing profile and he ran no race on recent handicap debut when a 66-1 chance. |

9th (5) (8/1 +0%) Fox's Socks |
8/1(+0%) | (5) Fox's Socks 8/1, Winning hurdler whose record over fences has been mixed but he is on a feasible mark if a return to the smaller obstacles helps to spark him back to life. Has been chasing; placed form off higher hurdle marks and including here. |

|F| (2) (14/1 +30%) Indian Sunbird |
14/1(+30%) | (2) Indian Sunbird 14/1, Fair form at best when placed twice in bumpers but yet to match that over hurdles. More realistic chance now handicapping, though, and the stable won a division of this race last year. One to note in the betting. No wins in seven and his standout run was in a bumper when beaten a length at Stratford. |

10th (8) (10/1 +0%) Edinburgh Rock |
10/1(+0%) | (8) Edinburgh Rock 10/1, Fared better than previously over hurdles in a first-time visor when third of 11 in 17f Cartmel selling handicap in May but failed to back it up at Worcester since. Visor off, blinkers back on. Worth a go in blinkers as when tried once before he was under 5l away on the Flat. |

|PU| (12) (33/1 +50%) Isla Diamonds |
33/1(+50%) | (12) Isla Diamonds 33/1, Little solid form. Longstanding maiden under both codes and being out of the weights is no help. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This looks a contest in which BARI BREEZE could plausibly throw up some value with the Milton Harris yard currently running hot. The eight-year-old hasn't been sighted since November, but his only previous win came after a lengthy break and the return to the smaller obstacles appears to be a sensible move. Minella Youngy has the back form to enter the equation if recent wind surgery has had the desired effect, whilst Black Lightning has been knocking on the door on his most recent efforts, all of them coming at this track, and should again be involved.
In a contest where very few arrive with compelling claims a chance is taken on the returning BARI BREEZE, who wasn't in much form over fences when last seen in November but is on a good mark if sparking back to life returned to hurdles after a break. The unexposed Rhodia could be sharper for her Cartmel reappearance and is second choice ahead of Black Lightning.
Marginal preference is for MINELLA YOUNGY in the hope that he can return to his recent placed form.

1st (1) (1.1/1 +45%) One Colour |
1.1/1(+45%) | (1) One Colour 1.1/1, Improved when landing Southwell bumper 3 weeks ago, quickening clear. Penalised but this won't take much winning. Settled better when winning well with the front two clear at Southwell; penalised. |

2nd (6) (14/1 +13%) Vivid Pink |
14/1(+13%) | (6) Vivid Pink 14/1, Too free when well backed on debut at Huntingdon but well beaten at Warwick (first-time hood) next time. In good hands but has plenty to prove after two comprehensive defeats. |

3rd (5) (8.5/1 +6%) Rory's Story |
8.5/1(+6%) | (5) Rory's Story 8.5/1, Has looked in need of the experience and staying chases will be her bag. Similar sort of form at Hexham/Uttoxeter; likely to need a bit more to get off the mark. |

4th (3) (2/1 +60%) Dontmesswithme |
2/1(+60%) | (3) Dontmesswithme 2/1, Closely related to bumper winner Glorious Feeling and has shown a bit in a couple of Newton Abbot bumpers. Already looks ready for jumps and a much longer trip. Two competitive runs at Newton Abbot, latterly against male opposition. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (8/1 -33%) Zoe Alyssa |
8/1(-33%) | (2) Zoe Alyssa 8/1, Kingston Hill mare. Half-sister to bumper winner Wells Glory (won on debut). Interesting newcomer. Half-sister to bumper winner Wells Glory; stable 0-26 in bumpers recent seasons. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
It's difficult to know what One Colour actually achieved when winning a similar event at Southwell recently, but she had been unconvincing at Huntingdon previously and may be worth taking on at cramped odds under a penalty. Preference is for newcomer NO CAN SEE, who is a half-sister to the smart hurdler Mr Adjudicator, given Milton Harris' excellent form and impressive strike-rate in this sphere. Syd Hosie's Dontmesswithme looks the best of the remainder after two placed efforts at Newton Abbot.
NO CAN SEE is an appealing newcomer on paper and could be the way to go before market clues. One Colour won well at Southwell and has a good chance to follow up under a penalty.
Rae Guest's ONE COLOUR won nicely at Southwell with the front two clear and this well-bred filly can defy the penalty.
Ths is the racecard key.
