17:15 Market Rasen Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Lightly-raced five-year-old FINN LOUGH has plenty of scope for progression and after his respectable second-placed finish on his handicap debut/first run after wind surgery at Stratford, a 4lb higher mark might not be enough to prevent him from going one better. Uttoxeter winner McGowan's Pass is capable of making this a tougher test for the selection, while Lone Star and Jaxonne are a couple of other strong contenders in this company.

FINN LOUGH appeals as the sort to really kick on now he's gone handicapping and he can build on his excellent Stratford runner-up effort and go one better. Jaxonne also looks to have better days ahead of him and rates a big threat now he is away from the mud after his strong-travelling Southwell second. Could Be Trouble, Lone Star and Spot On Soph are others to consider in a competitive handicap.

Last-time handicap newcomers QUEEN ANTOINETTE (lowest mileage) and Finn Lough (longer trip) are taken to improve further.

17:50 Market Rasen Conditions Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Happy Place is in the right hands to make progress now she has switched codes and is one to monitor closely in the betting on her debut for Dan Skelton. Similar comments apply to Smooth Transition and Trafalgar Square. However, just a nose separated On The Bubble and KAARESS at Hexham 13 days ago and although the former edged the verdict that day, Ollie Pears' filly has a 7lb pull at the weights and can draw on the experience to turn the form around.

A chance is taken on Dan Skelton hurdle debutante HAPPY PLACE, who was placed on the Flat last year for her previous stable. Smooth Transition and Tactical Control are other likely types among the hurdle newcomers, while Kaaress may prove best of the 4 who contested the opening juvenile hurdle of the season at Hexham at the start of the month.

Ollie Pears usually has his well schooled, so it was surprising to see KAARESS novicey at Hexham. She rates as the tentative selection.

18:25 Market Rasen Handicap Chase (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Ryan Mania and LEADING FORCE teamed up for a comfortable success at Sedgefield last month and, from just 5lb higher, there are solid foundations to stick with the proven winning partnership. Hall Lane is shaping up nicely over fences and rates the chief threat to the selection given he has previous C&D experience. Fazayte is 3-7 in this discipline and is dangerous to underestimate from just 4lb above his last winning mark.

FAZAYTE signalled he's ready to go in again when an excellent recent Stratford third so this course winner looks the way to go. Sedgefield-victor Leading Force is feared most despite taking a 5 lb rise for that success, although both Hall Lane and Tupelo Mississippi can have a say too in a competitive handicap.

This looks a suitable opportunity for the Sedgefield scorer LEADING FORCE (nap) to add to his tally for an in-form Sandy Thomson.

19:00 Market Rasen Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ITTACK BLUE made every yard to justify his short odds and record a double over track and trip last month and he now makes his handicap debut. Dan Skelton's six-year-old could have any amount of improvement to come and he looks difficult to oppose. Chaos Control wasn't disgraced in fourth in a class 3 event over an extended 2m4f here on the same card and he could get involved off a 2lb lower rating, while Parvos can fight it out for the minor honours.

The class-dropping CASTEL GANDOLFO is back on the mark he defied at Kelso at a similar time last year and might be worth siding with to deny Dan Skelton handicap newcomer Ittack Blue a third successive C&D win.

This is easier than the Class 2 C&D handicaps in which CASTEL GANDOLFO's record reads 2242. He's favoured ahead of Chaos Control.

19:35 Market Rasen Handicap Chase (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

GREAT SAMOURAI accounted for his nearest rival by over six lengths in this grade at Huntingdon last month and he is only 7lb higher for that triumph. The seven-year-old could have similar conditions to contend with and he looks the one to beat again. The main danger might be Stormin Crossgales, who was given a fine ride when scoring by a neck, also at Huntingdon, and can have a say off a 5lb higher rating. Gower Prince is another to consider.

GREAT SAMOURAI benefited from a positive ride at Huntingdon last time and he boasts excellent claims of making all once more. Gower Prince had a stiff task last time but impressed on his chasing debut prior to that, so he's another big player, while Stormin Crossgales is a danger if he turns up in the same mood as at Huntingdon last month.

Dropped to Class 4 and on a bankable mark, CEDAR HILL can make Sandy Thomson's trip worthwhile. Great Samourai is next best.

20:05 Market Rasen Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Clatterbridge was seen in a much better light when stepping up in trip on his handicap debut, going in by a neck at Uttoxeter, and he should remain competitive off 3lb higher. However, he could come out second best to COILROCK, who had Fantomas one place behind when filling the runner-up spot over 3m at Ludlow. The seven-year-old remains on the same mark and can confirm that form to go one better. Kapamazov completes the shortlist.

ETOILE BRILLIANTE did well to make up a lot of ground late when landing a steadily-run event at Warwick recently and she's fancied to make it two from two for this yard. Clatterbridge is another last-time-out winner who deserves respect and Coilrock can feature if the headgear continues to have a positive effect.

Clatterbridge showed improvement on handicap debut at Uttoxeter but the prospect of further rain tips the scales towards KAPAMAZOV.
