1st (1) (6.5/1 +77%) Another Mystery |
6.5/1(+77%) | (1) Another Mystery 6.5/1, Point winner but little to get excited about under Rules, weakening out of it over hurdles at Ludlow a month ago. Work to do back in maiden company. Ran moderately off a low mark in his latest handicap and shouldn't be good enough.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2/1 -14%) Doyouknowwhatimean |
2/1(-14%) | (2) Doyouknowwhatimean 2/1, Didn't kick on after a promising start in bumpers and ran to only a modest level in a trio of maiden hurdles in November. Much more like it switched to a handicap after a break when fourth at Southwell, better than the result too and he now looks very interesting. Posted his best RPR yet when a weakening fourth in handicap company; up in distance.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (6.5/1 +46%) La Pagerie |
6.5/1(+46%) | (5) La Pagerie 6.5/1, Half-sister to 8 winners who showed some ability in sole bumper outing and stepped up on opening hurdles effort when fourth at Chepstow last month (19.5f). Needs to improve again. This half-sister to smart stayer Whisper should improve for this longer distance.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (1.2/1 +4%) Redbridge Rambler |
1.2/1(+4%) | (3) Redbridge Rambler 1.2/1, Promise in bumpers and sound start to hurdles career when third of 11 on hurdles debut 16 days ago (2m). Upped markedly in trip but shapes like a stayer. Beaten 15l by the useful Lookaway in a 2m Uttoxeter maiden; placed in a 3m point.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (14/1 -211%) Ellies Sister |
14/1(-211%) | (4) Ellies Sister 14/1, Too green to show much on debut but much more like it when second of 11 at Hereford in January. Significantly up in trip but shapes like a stayer. Latest Hereford conqueror (won by 12l) went close in a Listed race next time.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Doyouknowwhatimean sets the standard for others to aim at with a mark of 109, and the six-year-old wasn't disgraced in a class 4 handicap at Southwell. He may have untapped potential at this longer distance, but could come out second best to REDBRIDGE RAMBLER, who is less exposed and shaped well on his debut over hurdles when third at Uttoxeter. He takes a big step up in trip, which could unlock further improvement. Ellies Sister is next best.
REDBRIDGE RAMBLER has displayed ability all 3 starts, and while he's up markedly in trip, he promises to stay given his run style. He's marginally preferred to Doyouknowwhatimean, who shaped well in a handicap last month.

1st (3) (0.83/1 +56%) Stowaway Jess |
0.83/1(+56%) | (3) Stowaway Jess 0.83/1, Sent off odds-on and duly obliged in 7-runner bumper at Southwell on debut last April. Looks a work in progress over hurdles regarding jumping but capable of better and this isn't a strong race. Jumped moderately on hurdling debut but was better at Uttoxeter when a staying-on third.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (6/1 -219%) Teeceethree |
6/1(-219%) | (4) Teeceethree 6/1, Ridden positively when making second bumper start a winning one at Warwick in September. Already had 2 wind ops before starts hurdling but this looks there for the taking. Had the run of things up front when winning a modest good-ground bumper at Warwick.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (4.5/1 -35%) Noonie |
4.5/1(-35%) | (5) Noonie 4.5/1, Fair 1m4f Flat maiden for Ed Bethell. Had win op before pulled up in novice hurdle at Doncaster but much more like it when second at Stratford last month, albeit she didn't achieve a lot. Useful form at 1m2f/1m4f; latest Stratford second entitles her to be on the scene.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (3.33/1 +52%) Presenting Belle |
3.33/1(+52%) | (2) Presenting Belle 3.33/1, Had wind op before finishing second in a 7-runner Huntingdon maiden in February but little to shout about aside from that. Visor replaces cheekpieces. Runner-up in Huntingdon maiden in February but pretty poor otherwise over hurdles.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (80/1 +20%) Popatango |
80/1(+20%) | (1) Popatango 80/1, €24,000 3-y-o, Getaway mare. Closely related to fairly useful hurdler Lucky Road. Dam, lightly raced in points, half-sister to top-class chaser (stayed 25f) Road To Respect. Little show in points and no impact on hurdles debut last month. No more than minor promise in Irish points and finished tailed off at Perth when 250-1.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A chance can be taken on the fitness of TEECEETHREE, who went in by five lengths on her second bumper start at Warwick in September and now goes hurdling for the first time. The five-year-old has undergone wind surgery during her time off and can pick up where she left off. Stowaway Jess showed some ability over 2m at Uttoxeter and warrants plenty of respect, while Noonie isn't ruled out either after filling the runner-up spot at Stratford.
It's a shade disconcerting that TEECEETHREE has already had a couple of breathing operations at this stage of her career but she's a bumper winner who has been found a very winnable race against her own sex on hurdles debut. Stowaway Jess and Noonie are the main threats.

1st (1) (3/1 +14%) Chief Black Robe |
3/1(+14%) | (1) Chief Black Robe 3/1, Limited ability over hurdles in Ireland but finished runner-up in last 3 starts in points (latest last month) and warrants respect on chase debut for new yard. Chase debut; principally of interest due to the yard he's moved to.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (2/1 -33%) Whataboutyeh |
2/1(-33%) | (4) Whataboutyeh 2/1, Much improved when taking Southwell handicap hurdle (24.3f) last month and far from disgraced when fourth of 12 in handicap (6/5) at Uttoxeter (24f, soft) on debut over fences 16 days ago. Should have more to offer in this sphere. Won over hurdles before a decent fourth on his switch to fences at Uttoxeter.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (4/1 +60%) Classic Lady |
4/1(+60%) | (7) Classic Lady 4/1, Point winner back in 2020 but offered little in 4 starts over hurdles more recently, shaping as if amiss when pulled up at Wetherby last month. Had wind operation since but remains hard to recommend. Winning pointer but a very limited hurdler and goes chasing with a lot to prove.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6.5/1 +41%) Miss Wachit |
6.5/1(+41%) | (2) Miss Wachit 6.5/1, Won over hurdles in June and ran to similar level when runner-up on chase debut at Southwell (24.3f) the following month. However, making first start for new yard when refusing to race at same course last month and likely best watched. Winning hurdler who has finished 2nd over fences; refused to race last time.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (6.5/1 -117%) Ron Burgundy |
6.5/1(-117%) | (3) Ron Burgundy 6.5/1, Left his chase debut form behind, in first-time cheekpieces, when third of 12 in handicap at Uttoxeter (24f, soft, 14/1) 16 days ago. Races off same mark and holds solid claims. The cheekpieces appeared to perk him up when a decent third at Uttoxeter (3m).. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (14/1 +13%) The Very Thing |
14/1(+13%) | (5) The Very Thing 14/1, Gained sole win at Catterick (25.2f) in January last year and ran well when second at Market Rasen on final start of the campaign. However, largely disappointed last term and something to prove back from 3 months off here. Profile of 1-31; a case can be made on some of his form but he's inconsistent.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (25/1 +62%) Calypso Storm |
25/1(+62%) | (6) Calypso Storm 25/1, Winner between the flags in November 2021 but, with the exception of his debut third in a bumper way back in 2015, he hasn't shown much in 8 starts under Rules. Cheekpieces on for first time. Has shown nothing in two runs for this yard following a long absence; cheekpieces added.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
RON BURGUNDY (third) had Whataboutyeh (fourth) two and a half lengths behind him at Uttoxeter, with the latter failing to justify his short odds. The selection was only making his second chase start and finished his race off well enough to suggest his mark being unchanged could prove to be too kind. Miss Wachit returns to this sphere after refusing to race at Southwell, but could have a say on her chase form from last year.
There should be more to come from WHATABOUTYEH, who acquitted himself well in a stronger contest on chase debut at Uttoxeter earlier this month. Ron Burgundy looks the obvious danger on form, whilst market support for Chief Black Robe, on debut for Fergal O'Brien, could prove significant.

1st (3) (3.5/1 +61%) And The New |
3.5/1(+61%) | (3) And The New 3.5/1, Dual hurdles winner who was placed in back-to-back handicap chases off much higher marks than this at Perth last July. However, form has dipped badly since hopes seemingly pinned on the first-time cheekpieces sparking a revival. Has been struggling for a while but is not without hope of turning things around.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3.5/1 -100%) Ridgeway |
3.5/1(-100%) | (1) Ridgeway 3.5/1, Promising start in this sphere when impressively landing a Kempton handicap in October. Disappointing next 2 starts but effort at Ayr (16.5f, good) when returning from a break last month was more like it and he's a big player. Beaten only 7l at Ayr (2m) last time and this looks weaker; every chance.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/1 -82%) High Noon |
10/1(-82%) | (5) High Noon 10/1, Latest success was back in June 2021 and absent since finishing third in a 5-runner C&D contest 11 months ago. On the upside, the handicapper has given him a chance (eased 5 lb since latest start) and possibilities if he's fully tuned-up for this. Dual course winner but has been off for nearly 12 months and he's an 11yo now.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (3.5/1 -75%) Pens Man |
3.5/1(-75%) | (2) Pens Man 3.5/1, Notched third success over fences Southwell last summer. Brought down at the first back from a break in September but no such issues when runner-up at Exeter (19.2f, good) the following month (may have won but for a late mistake) and leading claims here with conditions in his favour. 3-8 over fences and ran well on final run in October; can show his form when fresh.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (1.88/1 +71%) Herecomeshogan |
1.88/1(+71%) | (4) Herecomeshogan 1.88/1, Off the mark in a Newton Abbot maiden hurdle in August and resumed his progress when winning handicap at Exeter (18.5f) in October. Below par both starts since returning from a break last month and will need to raise his game in order to make a winning chase debut. Dual hurdle winner but below par of late and lacks experience over fences.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Market Rasen regular HIGH NOON hasn't managed to get his head in front since scoring here in June 2021, which came hot on the heels of a victory in this contest, but he is slipping down the handicap and could be ready to capitalise. Pens Man went some way to putting an unfortunate Bangor experience behind him when runner-up at Exeter, and seems to thrive on top of the ground so was put away for the winter afterwards. Ridgeway was a fair third at the Scottish National meeting and he completes the shortlist.
RIDGEWAY appeared to take a step back in the right direction when third at Ayr last month and, with both conditions and this stiffer test in his favour, he earns the vote. Pens Man and High Noon, returning from breaks of 7 and 11 months respectively, are feared most in that order of preference.

1st (5) (4.5/1 -50%) Headscarf Lil |
4.5/1(-50%) | (5) Headscarf Lil 4.5/1, Dual winner in late 2021 and back to that level when runner-up twice last winter. Below par in 2 outings this spring so a recent wind operation needs to help spark a return to form. Chance on her seconds during the winter; had wind op since last seen.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (12/1 +64%) Magna Moralia |
12/1(+64%) | (6) Magna Moralia 12/1, Flat winner last spring but has offered little back over hurdles since joining this yard. Has been struggling but he ran a bit better at Uttoxeter and has become well handicapped.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (8.5/1 -55%) Let Me Be |
8.5/1(-55%) | (1) Let Me Be 8.5/1, Prolific winner on the Flat for Keith Dalgleish in 2021 and off the mark over hurdles for new yard in C&D maiden a year ago. Two lesser efforts followed but returns in weak race and she's ono to keep a close eye on in the betting. Useful on Flat but not transferred all that ability to hurdling, despite winning a maiden.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (3.5/1 -17%) Rory And Me |
3.5/1(-17%) | (4) Rory And Me 3.5/1, Finally got off the mark over hurdles in 6-runner maiden here (18.5f) last summer. Unable to make a meaningful impact in handicaps since but he might have needed latest outing after 5 months off. Has first-time cheekpieces added to regualr tongue tie. One to keep an eye on in the betting. Course winner who will get his ground and cheekpieces may give him a lift.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (2/1 +11%) Presenting Pete |
2/1(+11%) | (3) Presenting Pete 2/1, In good form in handicap hurdles for this stable last summer. Given a break since finishing a respectable fifth at Sedgefield in September. Been given a chance by the handicapper and big player if primed for this comeback run. Only 3lb higher than for his last win but lacking a run might not be ideal.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (4/1 +60%) Guiri |
4/1(+60%) | (2) Guiri 4/1, Placed over hurdles/on the Flat in Ireland for Jessica Harrington last year but showed nothing in 4 starts for new stable. Mark on the slide but could only consider if backed. Winning hurdler in Ireland but has shown precious little in four runs for this yard.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
PRESENTING PETE has been sent off favourite on each of his six appearance since joining the John Mackie team and has justified that twice, although he did have one Southwell prize taken off him for a banned substance. Despite returning from eight months off, his supporters will likely give him their backing again and he can reward them. Headscarf Lil's last couple of displays have left plenty to be desired but she has had wind surgery now so could improve, while Rory And Me might do better for the application of cheekpieces.
RORY AND ME may have needed his recent outing here after a break and is taken to bounce back to form in first-time cheekpieces. Presenting Pete is on an attractive mark and will be a big threat if fully primed after 7 months off. Headscarf Lil could also play a part if responding well to a recent wind operation.

1st (5) (3.33/1 +67%) Tonyx |
3.33/1(+67%) | (5) Tonyx 3.33/1, Fair Flat winner who opened account over hurdles in Sedgefield novice in April 2021. Lightly raced and little to get excited about since, finishing down the field in a handicap back at Sedgefield last month. Has her quirks and shown precious little since returning from an absence.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (5/1 +17%) Prospect House |
5/1(+17%) | (7) Prospect House 5/1, Minor promise in his qualifying runs. Travelled well but faded to finish well held on 21f Kelso handicap debut 12 weeks ago. This return to a much shorter trip might help. Less exposed than a lot of these. There was no upturn in his fortunes switched to handicap company at Kelso 12 days ago.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3.2/1 +60%) Supreme Yeats |
3.2/1(+60%) | (1) Supreme Yeats 3.2/1, Cosy winner at Southwell in November but hasn't fired in 3 subsequent outings. Goes down in trip back from a short break. Cheekpieces also back on. Below par last three runs but capable off this mark and cheekpieces return.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (2.25/1 +32%) George Mallory |
2.25/1(+32%) | (6) George Mallory 2.25/1, First past the post at Uttoxeter last summer (subsequently disqualified for a banned substance). Easily best run this spring when second in C&D handicap 10 days ago. Claims if in similar form. Ran second over C&D ten days ago but was no match for the comfortable winner.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/1 +36%) Royle Steel |
9/1(+36%) | (4) Royle Steel 9/1, Fair 2m winner. Back on track when third at Catterick in February but has beaten only a couple home in his 2 outings since. Hard to know what to expect. Struggled with his consistency last season, finishing tailed off the last twice.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (11/1 -83%) No Recollection |
11/1(-83%) | (3) No Recollection 11/1, Fairly useful Flat performer who took well to hurdles last summer, winning a 2m Worcester maiden. Has left Alan King since finishing sixth of 7 in a 2m Huntingdon handicap last autumn. One to note in the betting on his return to action for shrewd new stable. Successful under both codes for Alan King; could be a decent buy at 6,000gns.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GEORGE MALLORY took a big step back in the right direction when getting closest to a facile winner at Market Rasen and while he was 11 lengths adrift, his conqueror has scored just as easily since so is clearly well ahead of the handicapper. The Pogsons' seven-year-old is just preferred to Zamond, who also arrives on the back of a second - in a competitive Musselburgh handicap in March. No Recollection ended his time with Alan King with a bit of a whimper, but his new trainer applies a tongue-tie and he is one to keep an eye on.
The most solid option here is ZAMOND whose latest Musselburgh second came in a competitive race. George Mallory could pose a threat if backing up his recent C&D second, while the drop back to 2m could benefit the unexposed Prospect House.

1st (3) (2.5/1 -25%) Denburn |
2.5/1(-25%) | (3) Denburn 2.5/1, £50,000 3-y-o, Martaline gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful dual 15f hurdle winner in France Shahina du Berlais and fair French hurdler/chaser Sambana du Berlais. Should be ready to go and makes plenty of appeal. £50,000 3yo related to some smart jumpers; plenty to like on paper.. |

2nd (1) (1.5/1 -9%) Colonel Whizz |
1.5/1(-9%) | (1) Colonel Whizz 1.5/1, €50,000 3-y-o, Soldier of Fortune gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser Cuban Pete and French chaser Brise du Large. Highly respected on debut. 50,000euros 3yo; likely contender for a yard that has plenty of bumper winners.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (2.5/1 +55%) Jour D'evasion |
2.5/1(+55%) | (4) Jour D'evasion 2.5/1, £34,000 3-y-o, Cokoriko gelding. Dam 1½m bumper winner. One to be interested in. £34,000 3yo; second foal; dam French 1m4f AQPS Flat winner.. |

4th (2) (12/1 +0%) Jingle Jangle Jet |
12/1(+0%) | (2) Jingle Jangle Jet 12/1, Bollin Eric gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler/chaser Midnight Jewel. Interesting newcomer if the market speaks in his favour. Fifth foal; half-brother to 2m2f-2m5f hurdle/chase winner Midnight Jewel.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (12/1 +25%) Marlins Darlin |
12/1(+25%) | (7) Marlins Darlin 12/1, Mount Nelson filly. Half-sister to bumper winner/fair 2m hurdle winner Carrigeen Kampala. Makes some appeal on paper. Half-sister to bumper/hurdle winner Carrigeen Kariega; dam a 3m chase winner.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (80/1 +60%) Looks Right |
80/1(+60%) | (6) Looks Right 80/1, Big price and showed nothing at Wetherby a couple of months ago. Cost only £1,000 as a 3yo and at 250-1 she was tailed off at Wetherby (soft).. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
With the only previous form to go on a poor effort from Looks Right at Wetherby, it will be a massive surprise if this doesn't go the way of a newcomer. DENBURN is from a good French family that includes former top-class chaser Madison Du Berlais and he cost 50,000 pounds a year ago. He represents a stable that can certainly ready one first time but so can connections of Colonel Whizz, who made about the same price at the sales but must give Alan King's charge 4lb. Jour D'evasion is also considered.
COLONEL WHIZZ is related to winners and represents a stable with a good record in this sphere, so he's marginally preferred to Denburn without the benefit of market clues. Jour d'Evasion is another interesting newcomer.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
