1st (6) (17/2 -113%) Brickadank |
17/2(-113%) | (6) Brickadank 17/2, Finally got off the mark when just holding on here (19.2f, soft) 29 days ago but not an obvious one to follow up. Record of 1-37 but his win came here (2m3f) last month; could go well again back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/2 -43%) Superstylin |
5/2(-43%) | (3) Superstylin 5/2, Irish point winner who left hurdling form well behind when a ready scorer at Lingfield on chase bow in November. Not seen to best effect after 3 months off at Southwell (15.8f, heavy, 7/4) earlier in the month, making his effort earlier than ideal, and remains open to progress. Won on chase debut at Lingfield before a fair third at Southwell two weeks ago; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (15/2 +70%) Texard |
15/2(+70%) | (1) Texard 15/2, Fairly useful handicap chaser at best but lost his way and sold from David Pipe £7,500 in May. Well held both starts for this yard in January. Last win was in July 2022 and he's been well held in both runs for new yard this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/2 +18%) Happy Du Mesnil |
9/2(+18%) | (2) Happy Du Mesnil 9/2, Maiden hurdler who made mistakes and never figured on sole chase try in late 2022. Offered little back from 14 months off over hurdles at Southwell and looked a tricky ride back over fences when third at Bangor 3 weeks ago on for first outing since leaving Evan Williams. Change of headgear. Unexposed over fences and was promising third at Bangor on recent stable debut; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/1 +0%) My Portia |
11/1(+0%) | (5) My Portia 11/1, Well held in bumper/3 starts over hurdles and offered little sent chasing for handicap bow. Off 12 months. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Down the field in all five runs and has plenty to prove after a year off; tongue-tie added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (5/2 +0%) Zara's Universe |
5/2(+0%) | (4) Zara's Universe 5/2, Won a couple of handicap chases last spring and back on track last 2 starts, resuming winning ways with cheekpieces refitted at Southwell 16 days ago. Respected. Made it 3-9 over fences when scoring at Southwell last time; big player again up 3lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (16/1 +20%) Out For Justice |
16/1(+20%) | (7) Out For Justice 16/1, Poor handicap chaser nowadays who offered little after 19 months at Hereford 65 days ago. Headgear applied. 11yo who was well beaten at Hereford on his comeback in January; others have less to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ZARA'S UNIVERSE kept on well to score over 2m at Southwell 16 days ago and still has plenty of room to move off just 3lb higher. Superstylin was a respectable third in that race but was readily brushed aside by the selection in the closing stages. Therefore, the recent course winner Brickadank is suggested as a bigger threat on this occasion, with the drop back in trip potentially countering a 4lb higher mark.
SUPERSTYLIN wasn't seen to best effect when 11 lengths behind Zara's Universe at Southwell 16 days ago and is fancied to come out on top this time aided by a 4 lb swing in the weights.
Top of the list is C&D winner ZARA'S UNIVERSE, who made it 3-9 over fences when scoring at Southwell two weeks ago.

1st (1) (4/11 +18%) Excelero |
4/11(+18%) | (1) Excelero 4/11, Has a good pedigree and showed plenty to work amidst inexperience when second of 9 in a juvenile at Warwick (2m, heavy) in November. Improved when third behind Sir Gino in Cheltenham Grade 2 in January and he rates the one to beat back in calmer waters with prospect of more to come. Creditable fourth in Grade 2 at Cheltenham in January and he sets a clear standard here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/3 +5%) Glimpse Of Glory |
10/3(+5%) | (2) Glimpse Of Glory 10/3, Passing Glance gelding who attracted support and was noted putting in some good late work having lost his position when third on hurdles debut at Wetherby (2m) 3 weeks ago. Looks sure to improve, for all longer trips may suit ideally in due course. Eyecatching third when well backed on his debut at Wetherby last month; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/1 -38%) Opera King |
9/1(-38%) | (3) Opera King 9/1, Fair form when fourth in a couple of bumpers in December and not discredited when midfield in 13-runner Lingfield bumper a month later, outpaced before keeping on final 1f. Cheekpieces go on for hurdles debut. Showed promise in all three bumpers and he should have a future over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (40/1 -100%) Honeybun |
40/1(-100%) | (5) Honeybun 40/1, Blue Bresil filly. Dam, modest 19f/3m hurdle winner, sister to fairly useful hurdler (stayed 2½m) Upstager. Offered little when pulled up in juvenile maiden at Hereford (16.2f, soft) 5 weeks ago. Represents excellent yard but she's likely one for further down the line. Fell when 10-1 on her debut at Hereford last month; could be one for further down the line. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (125/1 -213%) Wonderful Delight |
125/1(-213%) | (4) Wonderful Delight 125/1, In good hands but no short-term promise in 2 hurdle runs at Hereford/Taunton in recent weeks. One for later on. Remote seventh in two hurdle runs this year and remains best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (150/1 -500%) Rotarua |
150/1(-500%) | (6) Rotarua 150/1, Sholokhov filly who showed more than on debut when fifth of 9 in bumper at Newcastle (16.2f, standard) 74 days ago. Tongue strap applied for hurdles debut but she's likely best watched. Modest form in bumpers and this looks tough on her hurdling debut; best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
EXCELERO, runner-up to Triumph Hurdle third Salver on debut, was thrown in at the deep in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last time and is very hard to ignore dropping back down to this level. The application of a first-time hood can keep the selection focused and, with ground conditions to suit, the four-year-old is readily fancied to be too good for the likes of Glimpse Of Glory and hurdles-debutant Opera King at this stage.
EXCELERO took a step forward from his encouraging hurdling debut effort when third behind Sir Gino in a Cheltenham Grade 2 in January and he rates the one to beat returned to calmer waters with further progress in the offing. Glimpse of Glory should appreciate the demands of this track judged on her debut effort at Wetherby and is a threat. Opera King is also worth a look on hurdles bow.
This looks a good opportunity for EXCELERO, who ran well behind Sir Gino in a Grade 2 event at Cheltenham in January.

1st (4) (8/11 +58%) Theformismighty |
8/11(+58%) | (4) Theformismighty 8/11, Expensive point winner who was much improved from hurdling debut when chasing home Gidleigh Park at Newbury (20.5f, heavy) in December. Not in same form under positive ride at Warwick in January but worth another chance on back of wind surgery/equipped with a tongue tie. Irish point winner who has shown promise in some good hurdle races this winter; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/2 -157%) Anytrixwilldo |
9/2(-157%) | (1) Anytrixwilldo 9/2, Friendless in betting but showed plenty when midfield in 10-runner Chepstow novice (2m) on debut 13 months ago. Disappointed with that in mind on return at that venue in November but he remains with potential intact, particularly now his stamina is tested further. Had two hurdle runs at Chepstow (2m) last year and he looks interesting on his debut form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/2 -11%) Dr Seb |
5/2(-11%) | (2) Dr Seb 5/2, Rather green in 2 bumpers but fair form in pair of maiden hurdles 20 months apart, shaping as if this longer trip would suit when third here (16.5f) in November. Absent again subsequently but in good hands and he could yet do better again. Returned after a long absence with a good third in a C&D maiden in November; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (16/1 -100%) Home Sweet Highway |
16/1(-100%) | (3) Home Sweet Highway 16/1, Rules debut effort in a maiden hurdle at Ayr in November 2022 certainly wasn't devoid of promise and whilst he's not progressed since, it's reasonable to assume last month's return (from 11 months off/on back of wind op) was needed. Still, handicaps may be more his bag. Showed ability in his first three hurdle runs but has been tailed off in the last two. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (200/1 -100%) Massima Bella |
200/1(-100%) | (5) Massima Bella 200/1, Black Sam Bellamy mare who has finished nearer last than first in trio of bumpers to date. Rates a likely outsider now attentions switch to timber. Half-sister to some useful hurdlers but she needs plenty of improvement on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (250/1 -25%) Sky's Your Limit |
250/1(-25%) | (6) Sky's Your Limit 250/1, Well held in a trio of bumpers and showed nothing in pair of hurdle outings in recent weeks. Cheekpieces reached for. Down the field in three bumpers and she's been pulled up in both hurdle runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Dan Skelton appears to have found a good opportunity for the lightly-raced THEFORMISMIGHTY to prove his worth on his first start since having a wind operation. The fitting of a tongue-tie can also benefit the selection, who takes a step down in class. Dr Seb ran well over an extended 2m here when last seen and could improve now up in trip, while Anytrixwilldo was a disappointing favourite at Chepstow last time but cannot be ruled out given his obvious scope to improve.
THEFORMISMIGHTY weakened out of things having helped force the pace at Warwick in January but he'd previously showed plenty to work on when third at Newbury in December and, having undergone wind surgery ahead of this (also fitted with a tongue strap) he's fancied to get back on track with the Skelton team in excellent order. Anytrixwilldo promises to be suited by this increase in trip and he's worth monitoring. Dr Seb can do best of the remainder.
This looks a bit trappy but Dan Skelton's THEFORMISMIGHTY gets the vote ahead of Dr Seb and Anytrixwilldo.

1st (2) (10/3 +39%) Phillapa Sue |
10/3(+39%) | (2) Phillapa Sue 10/3, Winner of a 3m Doncaster mares handicap hurdle (good to soft) before Christmas but below par both starts since. Makes chase debut. Still has potential as a stayer but she needs to kick on again on this switch to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (7/4 +0%) Flintara |
7/4(+0%) | (4) Flintara 7/4, Won 2 of her 3 starts over hurdles last season and all the better for her return when recording an easy success in 3-runner mares handicap chase at Fontwell (26f) in December. Backed that up with good second in similar event at Huntingdon 6 weeks ago and that form is working out well. Big shout. Easy win and good second in her last two runs over fences and she's a key player here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/4 +21%) Pougne Aminta |
11/4(+21%) | (3) Pougne Aminta 11/4, Irish point winner who scored with plenty in hand in maiden hurdle a year ago. Fair third on stable/chase debut at Ludlow (20f) and built on that at the second attempt when second at Wetherby (19.4f, heavy) 55 days ago. Up in trip. Unexposed over fences but she still has stamina to prove at this trip; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/3 +26%) Midnight Ginger |
10/3(+26%) | (1) Midnight Ginger 10/3, Reliable hurdler who went in on only her second run over fences in 3-runner handicap at Chepstow (16f, heavy). That form is muddling, however, and only third of 5 there since. Stamina to prove back up in trip. Still unexposed over fences and she looks worth another try over this trip; not ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FLINTARA has undergone wind surgery since a highly creditable runner-up effort at Huntingdon last month, and a 2lb rise seems lenient as she looks to make it two wins from her last three starts. Richard Bandey's charge gets the vote ahead of the Wetherby second Pougne Aminta, as well as Midnight Ginger, who has been quite consistent of late and should appreciate the step up in trip.
An excellent opportunity for FLINTARA to quickly resume winning ways in what looks a thin race. Pougne Aminta is next best.
Preference is for FLINTARA, who was runner-up at Huntingdon last time and is open to more progress on her first run after wind surgery.

Izzy's Grey |
(9) (22/1 -120%)22/1(-120%) | (9) Izzy's Grey 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden who confirmed he possesses ability when runner-up at Fontwell and Hereford 8 weeks apart. Not in same form on first outing for new yard at Taunton when last seen in November. Unexposed 5yo but he was laboured at Taunton and needs to kick on again after that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) (7/2 -17%) Woodie Flash |
7/2(-17%) | (1) Woodie Flash 7/2, Irish point winner who got back on the up to double his tally over hurdles at Warwick (26f) in November, looking well suited by the longer trip. Possibly found the race coming too soon at Lingfield next time, so well worth another chance back from a break ridden by a competent 10-lb conditional. Emphatic win at Warwick on his penultimate run and he's respected back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (10/3 -33%) Accidental Legend |
10/3(-33%) | (7) Accidental Legend 10/3, Returned to winning ways at Uttoxeter (19.9f) in December and has found only one too good both outings since, albeit flattered by his proximity to heavily-eased Burrows Hall at Catterick on most recent outing. Four-time hurdle winner who was a good second over 3m1f at Catterick latest; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/4 +66%) Sister Michael |
11/4(+66%) | (5) Sister Michael 11/4, Southwell maiden hurdle winner in May 2022. Returned from 13 months off to finish a creditable second there in December but wasn't in the same form at Huntingdon the following month. Bounce back called for. On workable mark but was well held at Huntingdon last time and is untried at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (8/1 +33%) Halifax |
8/1(+33%) | (2) Halifax 8/1, Bagged third success for current yard at Bangor (23f) in September and made the frame on his next 2 starts. However, not in the same form the last twice, finishing well held at Exeter on his latest outing. On last winning mark but he's hard to predict and probably needs the ground to dry out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (7/1 -27%) Dillarchie |
7/1(-27%) | (8) Dillarchie 7/1, Not the most consistent but she resumed winning ways in 11-runner handicap at Sedgefield (27f) in February. Proved a major let-down back there a fortnight later, though. Tongue strap reapplied. Mercurial type who won on her penultimate run & has claims if she can recapture that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (14/1 -40%) Allo Allo |
14/1(-40%) | (3) Allo Allo 14/1, Dual winner over hurdles who opened his chase account at Bangor (20.3f) in April. Pulled up last 3 starts, however. Back over hurdles in first-time cheekpieces. Pulled up in all three runs this season and he needs a major revival back over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (14/1 +0%) South Terrace |
14/1(+0%) | (4) South Terrace 14/1, Attracted a fair bit of support but was pulled up back over hurdles over C&D 43 days ago. Enough to prove. Well treated on some old form but he was pulled up on his comeback over C&D last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (16/1 -78%) Rocco Royale |
16/1(-78%) | (6) Rocco Royale 16/1, Progressed further when landing a 6-runner novice at Fontwell (19.2f, good to soft) in April. There's nothing wrong with that form but he's been well held both starts in handicaps this season. Still has potential after only six runs but he needs a transformation at this new trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
This can go the way of WOODIE FLASH, who was disappointing when last seen in November behind two rivals that have done well since, but he had impressed at Warwick before that. Returning to softer ground should be a plus and he may have too much for the consistent Accidental Legend, who has been in the first two on each of his last three outings. Dillarchie and Sister Michael are entitled to be thereabouts as well.
WOODIE FLASH most likely found the race coming too soon at Lingfield when last seen in November and is well worth another chance under a competent 10-lb conditional. Accidental Legend is considered the main threat of Sister Michael.
The vote goes to four-time hurdle winner ACCIDENTAL LEGEND, who was a good second on his step up to 3m1f at Catterick last month.

1st (7) (1/3 +70%) Billytherealbigred |
1/3(+70%) | (7) Billytherealbigred 1/3, Confirmed earlier promise when making a winning handicap debut at Leicester in January on his final run for Evan Williams, form which has worked out well. After 9 weeks off, landed the odds with a wide-margin success at Warwick 10 days ago, so he looks to hold leading claims. 2-2 in handicaps and is only 4lb higher than for his runaway win last time; strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (16/1 -220%) Earth Cry |
16/1(-220%) | (3) Earth Cry 16/1, Won both outings in bumpers and encouragement when fourth at Ludlow on first of his 2 starts over hurdles last season. After 12 months off (left Milton Harris), probably needed the run at Taunton in February, so he's one to note as he goes handicapping with tongue tie applied. 2-2 in bumpers but well held in three hurdle runs; tongue-tie now added on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (50/1 +0%) Righteous Ruane |
50/1(+0%) | (8) Righteous Ruane 50/1, Didn't offer much in maiden hurdles for Paul John Gilligan but finished a bit closer than previously when fourth of 6 in novice at Carlisle (19.3f) on his stable debut in December. However, he was let down by his jumping in handicap at Wetherby 20 days ago. Has work to do. Has not finished closer than 18l to a winner in his nine starts and he makes no appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5/1 -43%) Martin Spirit |
5/1(-43%) | (4) Martin Spirit 5/1, Winner over fences in France and, having had a wind op and switched to front-running tactics, finally opened his hurdles account with a comfortable success at Plumpton 9 days ago. Carries a penalty but could go well again now that he's up and running. Made all to win by 12l at Plumpton last week and he's respected under a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (9/1 +36%) Yeomen Warder |
9/1(+36%) | (6) Yeomen Warder 9/1, Winning pointer who was well held in 3 novice hurdles towards the end of 2022. However, upped in trip he made no impression at Warwick (21f) on his handicap bow in February last year. Off 13 months (has had a wind op) with tongue tie on first time. Still unexposed and has had wind surgery but he needs a transformation after 13 months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (40/1 +0%) Royal Max |
40/1(+0%) | (5) Royal Max 40/1, Modest form at best for Nicky Henderson and has shown little in 3 starts for his current yard, faring no better in first-time cheekpieces/tongue tie when last of 4 at Southwell in November. Best watched after nearly 4 months off. Ten-race maiden who has struggled in three runs for his current yard; passed over. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BILLYTHEREALBIGRED made it two wins from two starts in handicaps when running out an easy winner over 2m at Warwick earlier this month and, upped just 4lb, he should take some stopping in search of the hat-trick. Martin Spirit scored readily on his first start since undergoing wind surgery over 2m at Plumpton last week and even with a 7lb penalty to shoulder, he is the main danger to the selection. Earth Cry completes the shortlist on his first start in handicap company.
BILLYTHEREALBIGRED has shown improved form switched to handicaps on his last 2 starts, making a winning stable debut with ease at Warwick 10 days ago, so he is the one to beat as he bids for his hat-trick. Martin Spirit gained his first success over hurdles at Plumpton on his latest outing and could be the biggest threat, ahead of Earth Cry.
This can go to BILLYTHEREALBIGRED, who is 2-2 in handicaps and is only 4lb higher than for his runaway win at Warwick last time.

5/4(+29%) | (7) Double Powerful 5/4, Off mark when taking a 6-runner handicap hurdle at Fakenham (20f, good to soft, 5/1) in cosy fashion 5 days ago. Looks the one to beat with further improvement likely. Unexposed 5yo who beat an odds-on rival at Fakenham last week; big player under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (6/1 -20%) Dexperado |
6/1(-20%) | (4) Dexperado 6/1, Down the field in a bumper and hasn't made any impact in novice hurdles, but is bred to be better than this opening mark and possible he'll step forward with cheekpieces now added for handicap debut. Unexposed 5yo who looks a possible improver upped in trip on his handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (33/1 -175%) Lady Hamilton |
33/1(-175%) | (3) Lady Hamilton 33/1, Placed in a mares maiden at Doncaster last March. Lightly raced since and failed to beat a rival home on the Flat at Newcastle when last seen, so hard to have maximum faith in her at present. Has shown some promise over hurdles and she needs checking in market back in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (3/1 +81%) Moro Rock |
3/1(+81%) | (2) Moro Rock 3/1, Back on track with fifth at Wetherby on handicap debut in January but produced an atrocious round of jumping before pulling up there later in the month. Others make more appeal. Seven-race maiden who has not really progressed and was pulled up latest; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (16/1 -33%) Gentle Victor |
16/1(-33%) | (1) Gentle Victor 16/1, Offered something to work on at huge odds on hurdles debut at Ludlow in October but was easy to back and pulled up switched to handicaps there last month. Tongue strap now goes on. Lightly raced 6yo but he was pulled up on his handicap debut last month; tongue-tie added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (9/1 -100%) Lily Baloo |
9/1(-100%) | (9) Lily Baloo 9/1, Down the field in bumpers and made no impact in 3 novice hurdles, but bred to do better at some point and now goes handicapping Out of the weights on handicap debut but she's in good hands and could find improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (12/1 -85%) Dazzling Dove |
12/1(-85%) | (6) Dazzling Dove 12/1, Good second at Southwell last March but efforts this season haven't been as promising, perhaps needing the run after a short break when fifth of 7 in handicap hurdle there 16 days ago. On an attractive mark if able to put it all together. Well treated on her best hurdles form but she's now 0-15 and needs to get back on track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (16/1 -14%) Protector Pete |
16/1(-14%) | (8) Protector Pete 16/1, Half-brother to useful hurdler/fair chaser Petrastar but little show over hurdles so far and more needed now handicapping. Unexposed handicap newcomer and he could show a lot more on this step up in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
DOUBLE POWERFUL scored over 2m4f at Fakenham last week and he can be expected to successfully shoulder a 7lb penalty en route to another victory. Despite not showing a great deal in his qualifying runs, better can be expected from Protector Pete pitched into handicap company for the first time, while Dexperado shapes as if the application of cheekpieces could help him and he commands respect.
DOUBLE POWERFUL stands out after scoring at Fakenham last week and should prove up to defying a penalty. Handicap newcomers Lily Baloo and Dexperado are next on the shortlist.
The one that stands out is DOUBLE POWERFUL (nap), who beat an odds-on rival at Fakenham last week and is open to more progress.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
