1st (6) (4/1 +60%) Samourai One |
4/1(+60%) | (6) Samourai One 4/1, Placed on 2 of his 3 starts in bumpers and best run over hurdles when fourth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (24.3f, soft) 34 days ago. Much respected switched to chasing. Fair form over hurdles; stays well and is worth considering on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (13/2 +0%) Has Troke |
13/2(+0%) | (2) Has Troke 13/2, Fair winner at 19f over hurdles who posted a respectable fifth of 9 in handicap chase at Leicester (20.1f, heavy) 41 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. 2m3f hurdles winner; good 2nd in 2m4f chase 2 runs ago; fair run on only attempt at 2m7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (17/2 -70%) Nine Nine Nine |
17/2(-70%) | (7) Nine Nine Nine 17/2, Gained his breakthrough win in 8-runner handicap at Leicester 20 days ago. Up 4 lb but can't be ruled out. Patchy form over fences; off the mark last time and has a chance despite a 4lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (8/1 -78%) Ballylinch |
8/1(-78%) | (4) Ballylinch 8/1, Winning pointer who improved on his hurdles form when making a winning start over fences at Sedgefield in October. Not discredited both runs since, fifth at Carlisle in December. Must enter calculations off a handy-looking mark. Two good runs over 3m3f at Sedgefield this term; not at his best last time; headgear today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/1 -13%) Our Friend Mo |
9/1(-13%) | (5) Our Friend Mo 9/1, Best effort when runner-up in handicap chase at Bangor (2½m, heavy) on debut over fences in December but not in the same form when sixth at Leicester next time. Fell heavily at the first at Carlisle latest so needs to bounce back. 0-8; fair second on chase debut (2m4f) but not as good since; heavy fall last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (16/5 +57%) The Scorpion King |
16/5(+57%) | (3) The Scorpion King 16/5, Unreliable maiden over hurdles but not discredited when fourth of 9 in handicap chase at Fontwell (21.6f, soft) on debut over fences 23 days ago. Needs to build on it. 0-10; fair form over hurdles last run here; could be in the mix but stamina to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (3/1 -84%) Breakdance Kid |
3/1(-84%) | (1) Breakdance Kid 3/1, Showed promise over hurdles and readily got off the mark in this sphere in 6-runner handicap over C&D last time. Up 5 lb but has more to offer and rates a big player. Winner over C&D on second chase start two weeks ago; up 5lb but more to come; good chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BREAKDANCE KID got off the mark in a similar event over C&D a couple of weeks ago and the six-year-old looks to be the one to beat on the back of that performance, despite a 5lb rise in the ratings. Nine Nine Nine also won on his most recent outing and could prove to be the main threat, ahead of The Scorpion King.
BREAKDANCE KID opened his account in style over C&D and a 5 lb rise doesn't look sufficient to prevent Stuart Coltherd's 6-y-o from following up. Ballylinch is weighted to have a big say and appeals as the chief threat, with Has Troke rating the pick of the remainder for minor honours.
Having got off the mark on his second start over fences and his first go at 3m, BREAKDANCE KID (nap) should go well again.

1st (3) (4/1 -60%) Kado De Joie |
4/1(-60%) | (3) Kado De Joie 4/1, French recruit who was shown fair form in juvenile hurdles at Doncaster and Kempton in recent months. Will need to raise his game to seriously trouble Roaring Legend. Kept on well enough when 2nd on Doncaster hurdle debut; outpointed in better race since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (28/1 -211%) Medieval Gold |
28/1(-211%) | (4) Medieval Gold 28/1, Fairly useful maiden on Flat (stays 2m) for William Haggas. New connections acquired him for 25,000 gns in October. Hurdle debut. Maiden for William Haggas; runner-up over 2m on heavy in October; sold 25,000gns since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (2/7 +57%) Roaring Legend |
2/7(+57%) | (5) Roaring Legend 2/7, Fairly useful on Flat for James Ferguson and promising second on both starts over hurdles, latterly in a listed race at Musselburgh. Hard to beat. Second to talented Nicholls youngsters in both hurdle starts; this looks a lot easier. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (16/1 -33%) Dog Fox |
16/1(-33%) | (2) Dog Fox 16/1, Fairly useful 1¼m Flat winner for Ed Dunlop. Should have a future over hurdles for his new connections but he's up against a useful one here in Roaring Legend. Won 2 Flat handicaps at 1m2f (soft and good) but did not go on; hurdle debut for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (40/1 -150%) Cosmic Soul |
40/1(-150%) | (1) Cosmic Soul 40/1, Fair maiden on Flat for James Horton. Offered little on his Cheltenham hurdle debut last month but it was a Grade 2 so this is a more realistic assignment. Fair Flat form at 1m2f-2m; very highly tried on hurdle debut; more realistic task today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ROARING LEGEND has filled second place on both of his previous starts over hurdles and this appears to be an ideal opportunity for Olly Murphy's gelding to go one better. That said, Kado De Joie could give him plenty to think about based on his effort at Doncaster two starts ago, while Cosmic Soul drops in grade and is the pick of the remainder.
ROARING LEGEND has shaped very promisingly when runner-up on both starts over hurdles and should make it third time lucky. Nicky Henderson's Kado de Joie is the obvious one to chase him home, although Dog Fox and Medieval Gold achieved enough on the Flat to think they could make an impact in a race like this if taking to hurdling.
Kado De Joie is capable of better but has ground to make up on ROARING LEGEND on their Kempton form last month.

1st (3) (5/4 +64%) Party Vibes |
5/4(+64%) | (3) Party Vibes 5/4, £45,000 purchase after finishing runner-up on her completed start in Irish points and confirmed previous promise under Rules when opening her account in a 10-runner novice at Wincanton (15.2f) on Boxing Day. Open to further improvement. Ex-Irish; off the mark over hurdles last time; progressive sort who is worth considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2/1 -100%) Ooh Betty |
2/1(-100%) | (1) Ooh Betty 2/1, Dual winner in May who quickly revived after a couple of lesser efforts when landing a Hereford handicap in good style in late November. Showed much improved form when headed in the dying strides at Lingfield subsequently and sets a clear standard on that effort. Three wins already this season; career-best form when a close second last time; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (12/1 -20%) Twyford's Diamond |
12/1(-20%) | (7) Twyford's Diamond 12/1, Showed little in a brace of bumpers but was much improved from hurdling bow when fifth of 16 in a maiden (150/1) at Newbury (16.3f, soft) 28 days ago. May do better still. Took a step forward when 19l fifth in a Newbury maiden last time; needs to improve again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (7/2 +22%) Jaminska |
7/2(+22%) | (2) Jaminska 7/2, Landed a 2m juvenile at Hereford last January and shaped encouragingly when runner-up on handicap bow at Taunton 10 months later before running about as well as could be expected against a superior pair back there in December. Tiring in third when fell heavily last at Chepstow last time. Winner last term; placed twice this season, latest in a mares' Listed novice; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (33/1 -313%) Giver The Hollie |
33/1(-313%) | (4) Giver The Hollie 33/1, Placed both completed starts in Irish points and has shown some promise in bumpers/over hurdles but is probably more one for handicaps after this. Ex-Irish pointer; placed in a bumper and last time in a novice hurdle; improvement needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (150/1 -127%) Lily Baloo |
150/1(-127%) | (6) Lily Baloo 150/1, Looks one for the longer term. From a good family; tailed off on hurdles debut here and looks more the sort for handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (100/1 -525%) Jacksbar |
100/1(-525%) | (5) Jacksbar 100/1, In need of the experience on hurdling debut at Taunton and went backwards at Hereford next time. Needs this for a handicap mark. Hasn't shown a great deal in two runs over hurdles; others stronger. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
OOH BETTY was arguably unlucky not to win when a nose second in a valuable event at Lingfield a month ago and a reproduction of that level of form would make her hard to beat in this company. Party Vibes won at Wincanton last time and she should not be underestimated, while Jaminska and Giver The Hollie are others with valid form claims.
OOH BETTY showed much improved form when a close second at Lingfield last month and will be hard to beat if reproducing that effort back in lesser company. Party Vibes opened her account in likeable fashion at Wincanton on Boxing Day and rates the main threat with further progress on the cards.
Although she has to give upwards of 4lb to her six rivals, OOH BETTY is taken to win again, with Party Vibes her most likely threat.

1st (6) (6/1 -33%) Gilbertina |
6/1(-33%) | (6) Gilbertina 6/1, Caused a 40/1 shock when winning on her return here last term and back to form when second over 2m3f here on Boxing Day. In the mix once more. Won 2m2f handicap here last winter; back to form on Boxing Day; this race is competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/3 +0%) Blue Beach |
10/3(+0%) | (5) Blue Beach 10/3, Winning bumper/ hurdler who has made an encouraging start over fences this winter with third placings at Exeter and Huntingdon. Commands plenty of respect back in this sphere in refitted cheekpieces. Has been chasing; solid claims on hurdle form, good 2nd in sole handicap last March (2m4f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (2/1 +20%) Lavida Adiva |
2/1(+20%) | (4) Lavida Adiva 2/1, Winning pointer who landed 2m Catterick novice in December. Backed it up with a good third under a penalty in similar event there following month. Should go well again now handicapping. Left clear for 1m7f win; close 3rd over 2m3f (soft) since; should go well now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (15/2 -7%) Golden Glance |
15/2(-7%) | (2) Golden Glance 15/2, Maiden winner at Haydock last spring and runner-up in handicaps at Aintree and Newcastle this winter. Very much one to consider with cheekpieces added. Good claims back at 2m4f after stout show over the trip on Boxing Day; cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (3/1 +33%) Royale Dance |
3/1(+33%) | (3) Royale Dance 3/1, Fair winner at 2m for Dan Skelton last term and quick to make her mark for current yard with success in 5-runner handicap hurdle at Leicester (20.5f, heavy) 20 days ago. Another bold showing is on the cards despite taking a 6 lb rise. Lightly raced now but won with authority on 2nd start for yard (2m4f, soft); back up 6lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (20/1 -208%) Cottie |
20/1(-208%) | (1) Cottie 20/1, Scored at Downpatrick last June but only ninth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Listowel (20f, soft) 155 days ago on her final run for Henry de Bromhead. Can't be ruled out after a break for her new handler. Two hurdle wins from 14 attempts for H De Bromhead; off since September; conditions query. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LAVIDA ADIVA is progressing nicely and readily earns the nod after notching a comfortable win and a respectable placed effort (both at Catterick) on her last two starts. Second preference goes to Golden Glance, who finished 22 lengths ahead of Royale Dance (fifth) when she was commendable second at Aintree on her penultimate outing and, having filled the same place at Newcastle latest, she can uphold that form in first-time cheekpieces.
None of these can be ruled out but ROYALE DANCE rates the pick of the weights despite beimg shouldered with a 6 lb rise for her Leicester success so edges the vote. Lavida Adiva is feared most on her first venture into handicap company, although a solid case can also be made for course-winner Gilbertina and Dan Skelton's new-recruit Cottie.
Cases can be made for several promising mares but ROYALE DANCE can prove suited by this sharper test after winning at Leicester.

1st (7) (11/1 -22%) Brickadank |
11/1(-22%) | (7) Brickadank 11/1, Went agonisingly close in a Newcastle handicap chase last spring but hasn't managed to match that form since and record now stands at 0-36 under Rules. Longstanding maiden; 2lb out of the handicap; fair runs last twice; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (10/1 -200%) Onenightintown |
10/1(-200%) | (6) Onenightintown 10/1, Dual chase scorer in 2022 and, having edged just below his last winning mark, he got his head back in front when seeing off 5 rivals at Catterick (19.2f, soft) recently. 2 lb nudge fair enough and he has to enter calculations. Winner over this trip at Catterick last time; fair chance off 2lb higher mark on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/3 +76%) Boys Of Wexford |
10/3(+76%) | (5) Boys Of Wexford 10/3, Immediate improvement for the switch to fences last term, scoring on debut in this sphere at Uttoxeter and placed next 3 starts. However, he hasn't shown much spark since returning to action in November and hopes now pinned on the first-time cheekpieces sparking a revival. Uttoxeter winner in 2022; out of form this term; headgear tried; a bit to prove at present. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (13/8 +14%) Cokytho |
13/8(+14%) | (1) Cokytho 13/8, Fair chaser in France and stepped up on what he showed in 3 outings for Oliver Sherwood last term (and on debut for this yard) when finding just one too strong over 17.2f here last time. Moving back up in trip looks a good move and he's a key player off the same mark. Exposed maiden; two creditable runs here for this yard, last time second over 2m1f; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/2 -57%) Living's Boy An Co |
11/2(-57%) | (3) Living's Boy An Co 11/2, Off the mark in emphatic fashion over this C&D in October 2022. That's his sole taste of success from 28 starts under Rules but he did well under the circumstances at Sedgefield (19.3f, heavy) last time and continues to edge down the weights. C&D winner in 2022; fair third at Sedgefield last time; interesting with headgear back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/2 +75%) Higgs |
9/2(+75%) | (4) Higgs 9/2, By no means disgraced when third at Leicester on penultimate start but he's 0-12 in this sphere and has failed to complete on 4 of his last half-a-dozen outings. 0-12 over fences; third at Leicester two runs back; conditions suit; one to consider.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A respectable second despite a late stumble in a similar race over 2m1f here last month, COKYTHO has plenty going for him at this level and the return to this trip is expected to suit in this company. An experienced chaser, the Alex Hales-trained gelding is presented with a good chance to finally break his maiden. The shortlist is completed by previous C&D winner Living's Boy An Co and recent Catterick scorer Onenightintown.
Ben Pauling's string could hardly be in better form and CASA TALL is taken to make it third time lucky for the yard. It's probably best to forgive his poor display at Fontwell given that conditions were atrocious that day and he showed enough on his return from a break at Carlisle to suggest that the fire within still burns bright. Cokytho and Living's Boy An Co rate the main dangers in that order of preference, while recent Catterick scorer Onenightintown also merits respect.
In a low-grade race LIVING'S BOY AN CO, who has headgear back on, is taken to beat Higgs and Onenightintown.

1st (4) (7/4 +56%) No Questions Asked |
7/4(+56%) | (4) No Questions Asked 7/4, £50,000 buy after winning a 2-finisher point in April 2022. It's taken a while for his new stable to get him to track but he'd still be of interest if backed as the yard has had a few first-time-out bumper winners recently. Won an English point in 2022; bought for £50,000; long absence to overcome; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (15/8 +37%) Heart Over Head |
15/8(+37%) | (2) Heart Over Head 15/8, €27,000 Soldier of Fortune gelding. Closely related to a winner, and half-brother to bumper winner/useful hurdler Alaphilippe and fairly useful 2½m chase winner Born For War. Tongue tied for debut. Stable enjoys plenty of bumper success. 27,000euros 3yo by Soldier Of Fortune; half-brother to 3 winners; yard fine bumper record. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/2 +31%) Magical Hill |
11/2(+31%) | (3) Magical Hill 11/2, Kingston Hill gelding was placed in an Irish point before making a sound start to his Rules career when third in a Catterick bumper last month. Placed in an Irish point and at Catterick behind two previous bumper winners; big shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (6/1 -118%) Lusso Milan |
6/1(-118%) | (6) Lusso Milan 6/1, Made an encouraging start to her career when second of 11 at Plumpton just before Christmas. Sets the standard for the rest to aim at. 40,000euros 3yo; second in mares' event at Plumpton on debut; place chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (10/1 -11%) Gotthereintheend |
10/1(-11%) | (5) Gotthereintheend 10/1, Showed ability when 4 lengths second of 9 in Bangor bumper on debut last April. Absent since. Second in what looked an ordinary Bangor bumper last April; this looks a tougher race. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Entitled to be wiser after finishing second in a similar race at Plumpton on her debut in December, LUSSO MILAN created a very favourable impression and could be hard to beat if taking a step forward. Ballywite has a solid jumps pedigree and warrants a betting check on his racecourse debut. Magical Hill and Gotthereintheend are a couple of others to consider as they have previous bumper experience to draw upon.
LUSSO MILAN gets the vote to go one better than on debut. The chief threat may come from newcomers, with Ballywite, Heart Over Head and No Questions all hailing from stables no stranger to bumper success.
Having shaped so well when third to two previous winners on his debut, MAGICAL HILL is taken to beat the newcomer Heart Over Head.
Ths is the racecard key.

It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
