1st (2) (6/4 +25%) Meetmebythesea |
6/4(+25%) | (2) Meetmebythesea 6/4, Fifth foal dam (h112) 2¾m hurdle winner, also 12.3f-16.5f winner on Flat. Runner-up sole start in Irish points (Mar 2024) and looks a likely type in a race like this. Probably bumped into a very good horse in his Irish point; will want further but respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/1 +8%) Rascallion |
11/1(+8%) | (4) Rascallion 11/1, Dam half-sister to fairly useful hurdlers Hot Diamond and The Twisler. Fairly useful handicapper on Flat in France (stays 1½m), recorded hat-trick in 2023, well below form last time. Has left Sophie Leech ahead of hurdles bow. Three Flat wins in France; opposable on subsequent Flat exploits in Britain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (4/1 +20%) Realistic Optimism |
4/1(+20%) | (5) Realistic Optimism 4/1, Fairly useful bumper winner in Ireland in 2022. Off the track for over 2 years and hooded for stable/hurdles debut, he was given a considerate ride at Plumpton last month. Sure to do better. Irish bumper winner; raced freely and dropped away in a 2m novice at Plumpton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (5/2 -25%) Oakley's Way |
5/2(-25%) | (3) Oakley's Way 5/2, Prominent in the betting all 3 starts in bumpers, matching debut form when fourth of 6 at Ascot 3 weeks ago. Makes hurdles debut for good yard so has to be of interest. Showed enough in bumpers to believe he'll be a major player on this hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (80/1 +20%) Yorgunnabeplucky |
80/1(+20%) | (7) Yorgunnabeplucky 80/1, €17,000 3-y-o, £20,000 4-y-o, Yorgunnabelucky gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdle winner/useful chaser Pougne Bobbi, stayed 2¾m. Placed on second of 2 starts in Irish points in April but low-key start under Rules. Went off at 200-1 for hurdling debut at Stratford and didn't show much at all. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (11/2 +73%) Unleash The Beast |
11/2(+73%) | (6) Unleash The Beast 11/2, Malinas gelding showed some promise when fifth of 12 in bumper (13/2) at Chepstow on his debut last month. In good hands but bred to be a stayer and is kept to 2m here. Well held in his bumper but well bred and no doubt capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (40/1 -100%) Arkendale |
40/1(-100%) | (1) Arkendale 40/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (stays 10.5f), ran better than for a while last time. Sold from Edward Bethell 13,500 gns later in September and now goes hurdling. Of useful ability on the Flat and should have the stamina for hurdling; new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (250/1 +0%) Dontworrywegotthis |
250/1(+0%) | (8) Dontworrywegotthis 250/1, Schiaparelli mare. Dam (c82/h94) 2m-21f hurdle winner. Last in a bumper on debut in May. 200-1 when tailed off in a good-ground bumper at Southwell. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MEETMEBYTHESEA occupied the runner-up spot between the flags in March and now makes his debut under Rules for his powerful connections. The son of Watar looks to have found an ideal opportunity to score at the first time of asking at the main expense of Oakley's Way. Anthony Honeyball's four-year-old was sent off favourite for each of his three bumper starts but failed to live up to expectation. However, he might prove a different proposition in this sphere and is one to consider. Rascallion needs to be monitored in the market.
Not a lot of worthwhile form to go on so in the hope the market vibes are positive, MEETMEBYTHESEA is taken to go one place better than he did in his point. Oakely's Way showed enough in bumpers to make him second choice, with Realistic Optimism also of some interest.
Meetmebythesea probably ran into a very good horse in his Irish point but at this trip OAKLEY'S WAY edges preference.

Iron D'ex |
(2) (12/1 -20%)12/1(-20%) | (2) Iron D'ex 12/1, Back on track from a reduced mark to make a winning start over fences here (2½m, good) on return last month. Heavy ground possibly against him at Bangor since but it was still disconcerting to see him capitulate in the way that he did. Cheekpieces refitted. Won on chase debut here last month but he's hard to predict and was tailed off last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) (13/2 +19%) Another Day Out |
13/2(+19%) | (1) Another Day Out 13/2, Winless following 7 attempts over hurdles but successful on second chase start at Huntingdon in May and just failed over this C&D last month. However, subsequent refusal to race at Leicester means that she has to be treated with a degree of caution. Hood refitted. Went very close over C&D last month but she refused to race at Leicester last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (9/1 +55%) Blackacre |
9/1(+55%) | (7) Blackacre 9/1, Remains a maiden and failed to step up on his hurdles form when switched to fences for the first time at Hereford 13 days ago. Ten-race maiden who made a low-key start over fences at Hereford; headgear now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (2/1 +64%) Jo Lescribaa |
2/1(+64%) | (5) Jo Lescribaa 2/1, Placed in a couple of French bumpers and showed ability over hurdles last season. Rather disappointing at Chepstow on final outing of that campaign but, like many from this yard, he could improve for the switch to fences. Still early days but he needs improvement now upped to 3m on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (5/2 -33%) Touchwoodexpress |
5/2(-33%) | (3) Touchwoodexpress 5/2, Successful on sole outing in points and, with cheekpieces enlisted, he improved on his exploits over hurdles when making a winning handicap chase debut at Huntingdon (23.6f, good) last month. Followed that with a good second at Warwick and he may well have more to offer in this sphere. Win and creditable second since switched to chasing this autumn and he's a key player here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (11/1 -38%) Watchoutitscookie |
11/1(-38%) | (8) Watchoutitscookie 11/1, No great shakes over hurdles but was a winner in that sphere off this mark in 2023 and latest third in a Perth handicap chase (23.8f, good to soft) was his best effort yet over the larger obstacles. Remains open to improvement as a chaser. Has shown promise in his three chase runs and he's in the mix on his return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/2 +0%) Coconut Twist |
9/2(+0%) | (4) Coconut Twist 9/2, Point winner at the start of the year and made a successful chase debut starting out for this yard at Newton Abbot (21f, soft) in May. Bounced back from a couple of low-key efforts when third of 8 off this mark in first-time blinkers (retained) at Lingfield recently and he's a big player. Good third in new headgear at Lingfield last time and has claims if he can back that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (25/1 -25%) Fashion's Model |
25/1(-25%) | (6) Fashion's Model 25/1, Improved to win 5-runner handicap chase at Wincanton (20.2f, heavy) on final start of last term. However, she was beaten a long way out on her seasonal reappearance here and will need to leave that well behind if she's to play a leading role in this contest. Has a mixed record over fences and was tailed off here on return last month; down the list. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Watchoutitscookie made the frame in this grade at Perth in May and he should mount a bold bid off an unchanged mark on his return to action. However, it may pay to side with TOUCHWOODEXPRESS, who backed up his chasing debut victory with a good second at Warwick last time and he could have plenty more to offer. The son of Mahler might only need to maintain that level of form in order to score. Another Day Out has her quirks after refusing to race last time, but she has to be considered if on a going day.
TOUCHWOODEXPRESS has taken well to fences, building on his Huntingdon chase debut success when finding just one too good at Warwick earlier this month. As a 5-y-o his best days are surely ahead of him and he earns the vote ahead of Watchoutitscookie, who remains open to improvement in this sphere. Coconut Twist and Jo Lescribaa are others to consider.
This can go toTOUCHWOODEXPRESS, who has done well since switched to chasing this autumn and is open to more progress.

1st (10) (9/2 +72%) Olivia Kate |
9/2(+72%) | (10) Olivia Kate 9/2, Just bits and pieces of form so far, failing to see it out upped to 23.6f latest. Beaten 17l+ in four handicaps from 2m to 2m7f; down only 2lb for last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/1 -29%) Come On Nia |
9/1(-29%) | (3) Come On Nia 9/1, Telescope mare who displayed improved form away from the mud when winning a brace of handicap in May/June. Off the track 4 months so may have needed the tun at Chepstow and much better expected here. Two summer wins but finished well behind after a break at Chepstow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (18/1 +45%) Broomfield Gale |
18/1(+45%) | (1) Broomfield Gale 18/1, Modest hurdler at best in Ireland for Robert Murphy. Tongue strap back on for handicap/stable debut and mark looks stiff-enough on the face of it. 0-11 under rules when trained in Ireland; first run in a handicap for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/1 +38%) An Cailin Ciuin |
10/1(+38%) | (2) An Cailin Ciuin 10/1, Allotted a stiff mark and made little impression on handicap debut at Chepstow a month ago. This is easier, at least. Failed to fire on handicap debut last time and went off a big price at 33-1. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (15/8 +32%) Malago Rose |
15/8(+32%) | (5) Malago Rose 15/8, Produced a career best in first-time cheekpieces to open account in 12-runner handicap hurdle at Southwell (24.3f, soft) in June. Not quite at that level 11 weeks later but she's since made the switch to an in-form stable. 3m winner two runs back and then lost a shoe next time; having first run for a new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (9/2 -64%) Bob O Rhino |
9/2(-64%) | (6) Bob O Rhino 9/2, Winning Irish pointer who made her second handicap start over hurdles a winning one in 11-runner contest at Stratford (18.7f, good) in July, typically ridden positively. Sound efforts twice since and she's likely to give it another good go. More exposed than some of these but she's running well and has solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (8/1 +20%) My Girl Katie |
8/1(+20%) | (8) My Girl Katie 8/1, Long-standing maiden who ran one of her better races when fifth of 13 over C&D last month. Unable to land a blow at Chepstow since. Beaten under 7l over C&D in October but followed that with a poor run and she's now 0-21. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (18/1 -29%) Lizzie Rey |
18/1(-29%) | (7) Lizzie Rey 18/1, Well held in bumper/3 races over hurdles, jumping poorly. Handicap debut. Positives thin on the ground but still early days and she goes handicapping off a low mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (33/1 -175%) Formel Park |
33/1(-175%) | (9) Formel Park 33/1, Related to 4 winners and better effort in bumpers when third at Southwell in May. Unseated rider early on hurdles debut and well held completed outings since. Hard to be confident on her handicap debut, but it makes sense to check the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (33/1 -136%) Made For Me |
33/1(-136%) | (4) Made For Me 33/1, Runner-up completed start in Irish points (March 2023) but only minor promise under Rules so far. Hopes rest on switch to handicaps and step up in trip. Has placed form in a maiden but tailed off in the latest; not obviously well in. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BOB O RHINO wasn't disgraced in fourth in a stronger event than this at Hereford last time and occupied the runner-up spot at this level at Worcester prior to that. The five-year-old will appreciate this drop in grade and could regain the winning thread. Olivia Kate produced a better effort to finish fifth at Chepstow earlier in the month and the handicapper might have been kind to drop her 2lb, so she is respected. Malago Rose completes the shortlist.
COME ON NIA almost certainly needed her return to action and, with that under her belt, she's selected to regain the winning thread. Malago Rose has made the switch to a successful stable so she demands respect, with Bob O Rhino likely to be bang there again.
It looks as though BOB O RHINO is handicapped about right but she's running well and just about has the least to prove in this field.

1st (4) (1/1 +43%) El Vigaro |
1/1(+43%) | (4) El Vigaro 1/1, Lightly-raced 5-y-o who has improved in recent weeks, finishing second then first in 2m handicaps at Uttoxeter (both good to soft). A 5 lb rise doesn't look enough to stop him for last year's winning yard. One of the few who are running well, having been second then first in Uttoxeter handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (16/1 +0%) Badlands Boy |
16/1(+0%) | (5) Badlands Boy 16/1, Modest form at best over hurdles, failing to build on reappearance when down the field here 32 days ago. First-time cheekpieces need to have a positive effect. Offered little in three handicaps (2m-2m5f) and on go the cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (3/1 +54%) Quian |
3/1(+54%) | (3) Quian 3/1, Won a Taunton handicap hurdle for Thomas Gallagher last December but has been underwhelming since, including well beaten on both starts for Fergal O'Brien. Could click for this yard at some point but can only be watched for now. Hasn't progressed and he's been completely tailed off in two runs for current yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (40/1 -21%) Admiral Fitz |
40/1(-21%) | (7) Admiral Fitz 40/1, Runner-up completed start in points but has shown little in 4 hurdles starts, including Stratford handicap debut and reappearance 37 days ago. Struggles continued when 25-1 for his handicap debut, albeit on heavy ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (16/1 -256%) Belle Montrose |
16/1(-256%) | (2) Belle Montrose 16/1, Runner-up on her sole Irish point. Steadily progressive form in bumpers and reached the frame in maiden/novice events at Newton Abbot and Stratford switched to hurdles in the summer. Makes handicap debut back from 134 days off. Unexposed. Handicap newcomer; was placed in a 3m point and may need longer trips. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (33/1 -65%) Pooroldmackley |
33/1(-65%) | (6) Pooroldmackley 33/1, Failed to complete both starts in points and only poor form over hurdles, making no impact on Ffos Las handicap debut 15 days ago. Still early days but hard to make a case for. Offered little in three maiden hurdles and the same again when 33-1 for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (7/2 -17%) Iontach Cheval |
7/2(-17%) | (1) Iontach Cheval 7/2, Went in snatches again when fourth of 9 on 2m Warwick reappearance (2m, good) 3 weeks ago. On a good mark but he'll probably need to travel with more fluency if he's to take advantage. Likeable run at Warwick 20 days ago on his return from a break; every chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
EL VIGARO built on his promising second at Uttoxeter at the start of November when scoring with something in hand at the same venue 15 days later. A 5lb higher rating is unlikely to be the ceiling of the five-year-old's ability and a quickfire double could be on the cards. Iontach Cheval is entitled to build on his fourth-placed reappearance at Warwick earlier this month and he may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of handicap debutant Belle Montrose.
Matt Sheppard can win this race for the second year running courtesy of recent Uttoxeter scorer EL VIGARO. Unexposed handicap newcomer Belle Montrose might be the one to give the selection most to think about.
El Vigaro needs respecting but IONTACH CHEVAL (nap) is well handicapped and his Warwick run after a break was encouraging.

1st (4) (2/1 +43%) Keep Running |
2/1(+43%) | (4) Keep Running 2/1, Better than ever sent chasing last season, making all in novice handicap at Taunton in January. Has found life tougher since but reappearance effort for new yard at Carlisle was too bad to be true and he'll be a threat if able to get back on track. Pulled up on Carlisle reappearance and needs to bounce back near best; tongue-tie back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/4 +80%) Holly |
11/4(+80%) | (2) Holly 11/4, A fairly useful winner at 17f over hurdles but hasn't covered herself in glory in 2 starts over fences to date. Sizeable step forward required here. Unexposed over fences and mark is falling but she needs a transformation back at 2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (16/1 -33%) Fast Buck |
16/1(-33%) | (5) Fast Buck 16/1, Now 7 lb lower than when registering latest success in a handicap chase at Wincanton in January. That said, it's been downhill pretty much all the way since and he needs to bounce back in a major way. Well held in both runs this season but is well handicapped if he can rediscover his spark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (17/2 -13%) Feel The Pinch |
17/2(-13%) | (3) Feel The Pinch 17/2, Prolific for this stable, producing an effort right up there with his best when adding to his tally at Newton Abbot (16.7f, good) in July. Form has dipped badly since, though, it's probably best to look elsewhere. Out of sorts over hurdles and fences in last three runs and he needs to get back on track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (2/1 +33%) Mr Grey Sky |
2/1(+33%) | (1) Mr Grey Sky 2/1, Won a pair of 2m handicap chases at a similar time last year. Respectable third at Newcastle when last seen in February and bold show could be on the way, provided he is ready to roll following 9 months off. Back on last winning mark and he won on reappearance last season; interesting. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Having sustained a wound on his right-hind, Keep Running shouldn't be judged too harshly on his pulled-up reappearance at Carlisle last month. Warren Greatrex's charge is now 2lb lower than his last winning mark and an improved bid is forecast. However, it could be worth taking a punt on the returning MR GREY SKY given his yard are in much better form than his third-placed effort at Newcastle in February. Feel The Pinch may fare best of the remainder.
MR GREY SKY returned with a bang last season, winning the first two starts of his 2023/24 campaign, and he is taken to repeat the dose this time round by making a successful reappearance. Next on the list is Dr T J Eckleburg, whose record over hurdles/fences here reads 112 and he added to his tally at Haydock on Saturday. However, if his connections elect against this quick turnaround, Keep Running will likely emerge as the main danger.
Preference is for MR GREY SKY, who is back on his last winning mark and was successful on his seasonal return last November.

1st (6) (11/4 +17%) Faerie Cutlass |
11/4(+17%) | (6) Faerie Cutlass 11/4, Successful at Worcester (2½m) in May 2023 and hasn't done a great deal wrong since, most recently finishing second of 10 over C&D (good to soft) last month. No reason why she won't give another good account. Second over C&D last month and she's still unexposed as stayer; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (10/1 -25%) Myfanwy's Magic |
10/1(-25%) | (1) Myfanwy's Magic 10/1, Left hurdling debut form behind when runner-up in a Warwick novice (2m, heavy) last November and back to that sort of level when filling the same position at Hereford (21.7f, soft) back in February, albeit making hard work of things. Back up in trip and may need this on return. Ended last season with eyecatching second at Hereford; respected back up in trip on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/3 -11%) Melton Mossy |
10/3(-11%) | (4) Melton Mossy 10/3, Gained a fourth win of a very productive first half of the season when striking under this rider here (21f, good to soft) 18 days ago. 5 lb higher so demands more but he has to enter the reckoning in his current mood. Made it 4-7 in handicaps when scoring here (2m5f) latest; respected up 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (10/3 +39%) Brownstone |
10/3(+39%) | (5) Brownstone 10/3, Fair hurdle winner in Ireland and shrugged off a low-key first run for Grace Harris when second of 10 at Leicester (20.5f, good to soft) last Monday. Claims from the same mark. Eyecatching second over 2m4f at Leicester last Monday and worth another try at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (16/1 -167%) Greatness Awaits |
16/1(-167%) | (2) Greatness Awaits 16/1, Been in good form back over hurdles, scoring at Newton Abbot in June and placed next 4 outings. Underperformed reverted to Flat at Wolverhampton on first outing since leaving Ben Pauling (sold £10,000) a fortnight ago and now heads back over obstacles. Struggled back on the Flat on stable debut and has stamina to prove at this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (13/2 +28%) Pure Theatre |
13/2(+28%) | (3) Pure Theatre 13/2, Tasted success twice in mares' hurdles in spring 2023 but has been more miss than hit since. Found things too competitive with chasing experiment quickly shelved at Wincanton (21.4f, good) recently but this is more her sort of level. On dangerous mark but she's struggled last twice and needs to turn things around. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (18/1 -50%) Rubys Reward |
18/1(-50%) | (8) Rubys Reward 18/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2023 and turned in a rare poor effort when pulled up at Chepstow (23.6f, good to soft) earlier in the month. Bounce back needed from 3 lb out of the weights. Losing run is up to 12 and was pulled up at Chepstow 19 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (40/1 +60%) Maska Du Morvan |
40/1(+60%) | (9) Maska Du Morvan 40/1, Point winner who was pulled up both starts over fences, including on first start for current yard at Exeter recently, and again showed little reverted to hurdles at Chepstow just under 3 weeks ago. 4 lb out of weights and first-time cheekpieces need to spark a major revival. Won a point in May but has struggled back under rules since; lots to prove in new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (100/1 +0%) Dark Heather |
100/1(+0%) | (10) Dark Heather 100/1, Poor maiden who predictably showed nothing after 22 months off at this course earlier in the month. Easy swerve from well out of the weights. Poor 15-race maiden and she's 11lb out of the weights here; can only be watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MELTON MOSSY regained the winning thread when holding on to score over 2m5f here earlier in the month. The son of Valirann isn't certain to stay today's 3m distance, but it looks worth exploring and he may find enough improvement to negate a 5lb rise in the ratings. Myfanwy's Magic was heading in the right direction last season and is feared most on his return to action, ahead of Greatness Awaits.
MELTON MOSSY gained a fourth win of a very productive first half of the season here earlier in the month so Evan Williams' 5-y-o is fancied to defy a 5 lb rise at the expense of Greatness Awaits, who made an underwhelming start on the level for this yard recently but can get back on track returned to hurdles. Pure Theatre was out of her depth at Wincanton last time so completes the shortlist.
Progressive 5yo MELTON MOSSY made it 4-7 in handicaps when scoring over 2m5f here last time and looks worth a try at this new trip.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
