50/1(-257%) | (6) Dusautior 50/1, Winning Irish pointer but yet to offer much in two runs over hurdles at Ludlow and Warwick. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Irish point winner but he's been well held in both hurdle runs; tongue-tie is now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (80/1 -220%) Dundory |
80/1(-220%) | (5) Dundory 80/1, Fairly useful Flat winner who comes here fit from that sphere. Much respected now making his hurdles debut. Worth a market check. Fairly useful six-time Flat winner and he should have a future at this new discipline. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (14/1 -87%) Prairie Diamond |
14/1(-87%) | (12) Prairie Diamond 14/1, Debut winner of Hereford bumper in February and shaped with encouragement when fourth of 8 in novice hurdle there (19.7f, good) on hurdles bow 21 days ago. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (150/1 -275%) Bingo Little |
150/1(-275%) | (2) Bingo Little 150/1, Had wind op and tongue strap on for 1st time before coming in fourteenth of 17 in novice hurdle at Warwick (16f, heavy) on hurdles bow 19 days ago. Lots more is required. Down the field in sole bumper and was tailed off at 20-1 on recent hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (200/1 -203%) Ask Me Out |
200/1(-203%) | (1) Ask Me Out 200/1, Pulled up in novice hurdle at Ffos Las (15.8f, heavy, 66/1) on NH debut 15 days ago. Needs a big step forward. 66-1 and was pulled up in a Ffos Las novice on recent debut; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) (250/1 -400%) Whitehall Flyer |
250/1(-400%) | (16) Whitehall Flyer 250/1, 150/1, pulled up in novice hurdle at Stratford (16.3f, heavy) 25 days ago. Hard to make a case for. No threat in two bumpers and she's struggled in both hurdle runs this autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (300/1 -500%) James Baie |
300/1(-500%) | (9) James Baie 300/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 300/1, last of 12 in novice hurdle at Chepstow (16f, heavy) 19 days ago. Some ability in bumpers but he's been tailed off at huge prices in both hurdles runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
NATHANAEL GREENE was a decent handicapper on the Flat for William Haggas and was purchased for 45,000gns at the Tattersalls August Horses-In-Training sale. The four-year-old appeals as the type who could make up into a useful performer in this sphere and gets the vote at the expense of The Famous Five, who may benefit from a drop in trip after returning here over 2m5f earlier in the month, and Imperial Saint.
THE FAMOUS FIVE has been very lightly raced for Venetia Williams since being bought for €250,000 but showed enough when a recent third here to suggest he can add to his two French Flat successes. Nathanael Greene was a useful winner in that sphere and is feared most now switched to hurdling, while Gentleman Jacques and debutants Dundory, Imperial Saint and Mersey Street need factoring in too.
The vote goes to IMPERIAL SAINT, who was impressive in his last point and is a half-brother to a multiple hurdle winner in France.

1st (12) (10/3 +63%) Little Pi |
10/3(+63%) | (12) Little Pi 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden who took a step forward on his handicap bow when fourth of 16 at Exeter (16.7f, soft) 17 days ago. Can go well again eased 1 lb. Promising fourth of 16 on handicap debut at Exeter and has claims if he can build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (20/1 -150%) Princess T |
20/1(-150%) | (1) Princess T 20/1, Won over hurdles in Jersey in July but more miss than hit since (mostly on the Flat), including back in this sphere at Hereford latest. Others appeal more. On dangerous mark but she's been out of sorts in last three runs; needs a major turnaround. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (3/1 -9%) Breaking Cover |
3/1(-9%) | (2) Breaking Cover 3/1, Points runner-up who built on hurdling debut promise when clear second of 10 in novice at Taunton (16.5f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut with more to offer. Interesting. Clear second in Taunton novice 11 days and he looks interesting on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (28/1 -12%) Churchman |
28/1(-12%) | (10) Churchman 28/1, Modest maiden hurdler who came in only eighth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Hereford (21.7f, good) 34 days ago. Back down in trip with work to do. Tailed off on handicap debut at Hereford and he needs a transformation back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (15/2 +46%) Captain Attridge |
15/2(+46%) | (8) Captain Attridge 15/2, Fair maiden on the Flat who has been brought along steadily over hurdles, patiently-ridden sixth in 2m Stratford novice in October. Can take a step forward now going into handicaps. Player. 0-10 but he looks a possible improver on his handicap hurdle debut; one to keep an eye on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (11/2 -57%) Alphonse Le Grande |
11/2(-57%) | (7) Alphonse Le Grande 11/2, Back on track when third of 14 in handicap hurdle at Sligo (17.6f, good to soft) 167 days ago. This Irish challenger enters calculations. Well-backed third in Sligo handicap when last seen in June and he's respected on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (14/1 -40%) Spirit Of Regulus |
14/1(-40%) | (3) Spirit Of Regulus 14/1, Lightly-raced winning hurdler but tongue strap/cheekpieces on for 1st time when pulled up in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, good to soft) 6 months ago. Needs to hit the ground running. Well held and pulled up in his two handicaps; something to prove on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (11/1 +21%) Scherbobalob |
11/1(+21%) | (4) Scherbobalob 11/1, C&D winner but off 6 months before being pulled up in handicap hurdle here 32 days ago. Others more persuasive. C&D winner but he was pulled back here last month and overall record now stands at 1-15. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (150/1 -200%) Seaborough |
150/1(-200%) | (11) Seaborough 150/1, Arrives well out of sorts, pulled up in 2m handicap hurdle at Market Rasen 4 days ago. Very hard to make a case for. Has struggled this year and he's been pulled up twice this month; can only be watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (25/1 -79%) Rock On Tommy |
25/1(-79%) | (9) Rock On Tommy 25/1, Dual 2m winner at Uttoxeter in July but pulled up in handicap hurdle at Stratford (18.7f, heavy) 25 days ago. Needs to get back on track. Four-time hurdle winner but he was pulled up last time and needs to be back near his best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (10/1 +0%) Moonshine Spirit |
10/1(+0%) | (6) Moonshine Spirit 10/1, Maiden hurdler who came in only tenth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Chepstow (16f, soft) 27 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Back from a break with two disappointing runs this autumn; needs to get back on track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (12/1 -140%) Jubilee Gold |
12/1(-140%) | (5) Jubilee Gold 12/1, Built on debut promise in Ireland when landing 2m novice hurdle at Fakenham 18 months ago. Handily weighted on his comeback run but market can prove a good guide. Returns after a long absence but he won last time and needs a close look on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BREAKING COVER has shown promise in both starts over hurdles and an opening mark of 105 appears to be workable following his recent second at Taunton. Alphonse Le Grande commands plenty of interest for Tony Martin on his first appearance since June, when finishing third at Sligo, while Jubilee Gold could have more to offer on his return from a lengthy absence.
A case can be made for a few of these but BREAKING COVER is fancied to build on his good recent Taunton second now going into handicaps and get off the mark. Fellow handicap debutant Captain Attridge also looks to have better days ahead of him and is next on the list, with the lightly-raced Little Pi and returning Jubilee Gold also in the mix in an open handicap.
The vote goes to BREAKING COVER (nap), who was second in a Taunton novice and is an interesting contender on his handicap debut.

1st (5) (10/3 +52%) Safe Destination |
10/3(+52%) | (5) Safe Destination 10/3, Off the mark on his second start over fences when scoring at Uttoxeter (24f, soft) last month but added to an increasingly patchy profile when pulling up at Warwick 3 weeks ago. Others looks more solid. Won at Uttoxeter last month but he's been pulled up either side of that; risks attached. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/1 +25%) On The Platform |
9/1(+25%) | (4) On The Platform 9/1, Largely consistent in defeat for John Groucott last term and he ran respectably in first-time cheekpieces on debut for this yard when fourth of 9 in handicap chase at this course (20f, soft, 9/2) 32 days ago. Respected. 0-12 over fences but he's on a workable mark and could get involved back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (18/1 -260%) Meechlands Magic |
18/1(-260%) | (6) Meechlands Magic 18/1, Showed himself a much better chaser than hurdler second time up over fences when off the mark in Worcester handicap (23f) in October, despite having been 10 lb out of the weights. Clipped heels and unseated at the fourth 5 days later, so he's well worth another chance. Won at Worcester last month and it wasn't his fault when he unseated last time; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (20/1 -150%) Ballyrashane |
20/1(-150%) | (8) Ballyrashane 20/1, Off the mark at the fifth time of asking in Irish points but he hasn't shown much in 4 maiden/novice hurdles under Rules. Will need step up in trip on chase debut to unlock some improvement. Struggled over hurdles (2m-2m4f) and he needs a transformation on his handicap/chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (12/1 -50%) Deadly Missile |
12/1(-50%) | (9) Deadly Missile 12/1, Point winner who has bettered his bumper/hurdles form tackling fences, in the frame on his last 4 completed outings in this sphere, albeit making heavy enough weather of it when second of 7 in handicap chase at Hereford (25.2f, good to firm) 41 days ago. Not discounted. 0-10 under rules but he's finished runner-up in his last two starts; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (20/1 +0%) Milanese Rose |
20/1(+0%) | (11) Milanese Rose 20/1, Poor maiden who ran respectably when fourth at Worcester early in September. Bred to take to chasing but others are preferred. 0-17 overall and she needs improvement on this switch to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (11/2 +21%) Gallow Ford |
11/2(+21%) | (2) Gallow Ford 11/2, Seen only sparingly since winning over hurdles at Exeter in April 2021 but shaped as if retaining some ability after a further 18 months off when fourth of 13 in handicap chase (14/1) at Warwick (20f, heavy) 20 days ago. Has won in points and remains low mileage as a chaser if able to build on that. Unexposed over fences but a remote fourth at Warwick on recent comeback; down the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (125/1 -346%) Voice Of Hope |
125/1(-346%) | (10) Voice Of Hope 125/1, Winning hurdler in Ireland remains a poor maiden over fences, little show when fifth of 7 in handicap at Sedgefield (21.1f, heavy) 11 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Overall record of 1-31 and he's struggled in both runs this season; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (9/2 +25%) Justshortofabubble |
9/2(+25%) | (3) Justshortofabubble 9/2, Has proved remarkably consistent in recent months and took his form up another notch when winning 14-runner handicap chase (11/2) at Taunton (23f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Can't be discounted from 7 lb higher mark. Made it 3-11 over fences when scoring at Taunton 11 days ago; respected up 7lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (9/2 +25%) West Orchard |
9/2(+25%) | (7) West Orchard 9/2, Unreliable maiden over hurdles but having failed to complete on his chase bow, showed much improved form second time up over fences when landing 11-runner handicap chase (8/1) at Plumpton (19.8f, good to soft) 21 days ago. His task is now to back that up. Versatile type who is unexposed over fences and he won at Plumpton latest; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (17/2 -113%) Braganza Bay |
17/2(-113%) | (1) Braganza Bay 17/2, Dual hurdles winner at Hereford last season and successful start switched to fences in a 6-runner handicap there (25.2f, good) last month. That wasn't a strong contest but he won it in comfortable fashion and he's respected from 7 lb higher mark. Won by 8l on his chase debut at Hereford and is a big player again off 7lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (150/1 -200%) Earcomesbob |
150/1(-200%) | (12) Earcomesbob 150/1, Pulled up on 4 of his last 5 starts and it's hard to envisage him sparking back to life after a number of sour efforts. 0-14 under rules and has been pulled up over fences in last three runs; 5lb out of weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
WEST ORCHARD made amends for a first-fence fall on his chasing debut at Newton Abbot when returning to the larger obstacles at Plumpton earlier this month. He made every yard of the running on that occasion and the step back up in trip is unlikely to be an inconvenience. Meechlands Magic was unlucky when hampered early and unseating his rider at Hereford, when bidding for a quickfire double, and he has to be respected, despite running off a 9lb higher mark. Others to consider are Justshortofabubble and Deadly Missile.
BRAGANZA BAY will probably have a tougher time of things here than when winning on chase debut at Hereford but a 7 lb rise looks manageable and Henry Daly's charge is fancied to follow up. Meechlands Magic has also already surpassed his hurdles form and remains worth viewing positively after a non-completion last time, with the reliable Justshortofabubble likely to give another good show.
Several have claims but top of the list is JUSTSHORTOFABUBBLE, who found more progress when beating 13 rivals at Taunton 11 days ago.

1st (4) (9/2 +78%) Le Boulevardier |
9/2(+78%) | (4) Le Boulevardier 9/2, Showed ability in bumpers/initially over hurdles for Oliver Sherwood in 2020. Did well in points last year (successful once and runner-up 3 times) but since offered little back under Rules and he's hard to warm to. Hasn't shown much spark over hurdles or fences since returning from an absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (33/1 +18%) Newtonian |
33/1(+18%) | (11) Newtonian 33/1, Promise both starts in bumpers for Oliver Sherwood in 2021 but subsequent efforts over hurdles/fences have left much to be desired. Modest hurdler and uncompetitive in five chases since joining this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (5/1 +58%) Samatian |
5/1(+58%) | (8) Samatian 5/1, Made a winning reappearance last season on the back of a wind op at Stratford. Made the frame on each of his next 5 starts but first run of this campaign was poor (pulled up) and he now has a point to prove. Stopped quickly on return but consistent in handicaps last season; new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (20/1 -186%) Getbazoutofhere |
20/1(-186%) | (5) Getbazoutofhere 20/1, Winless following 9 attempts in this sphere but she has made the frame on several occasions, signing off last season with a creditable third of 8 off this mark at Ffos Las (21.9f, good to soft). This stiffer test should play to her strengths and she's in with a shout. Maiden who should win a race but perhaps best watched on this reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (15/2 +63%) Night Jet |
15/2(+63%) | (9) Night Jet 15/2, Out of a mare who did well for the same connections and fair form in a couple of bumpers. Yet to make much of an impact over hurdles, though, and hopes pinned on this step up in trip sparking improvement. Reappearance run was his third disappointing run in handicap company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (12/1 -118%) Movie King |
12/1(-118%) | (1) Movie King 12/1, Opened hurdles account in a Down Royal handicap (20.4f, good) in June and has performed with credit both starts since returning from a break, latterly fourth of 10 over fences at Punchestown. This Irish raider has to enter calculations. Summer's Irish win came on good ground, so Ludlow good to soft will be fine. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (4/1 +75%) The Scorpion King |
4/1(+75%) | (2) The Scorpion King 4/1, Runner-up on second of his 2 starts in bumpers and stepped up on previous hurdles efforts when third in a Taunton maiden in January. Back on track following a tame handicap debut when fourth of 12 in a first-time tongue strap at Chepstow (19.4f, soft) but improvement needed if he's to take this. Respectable 12l fourth on Chepstow return; chances are that he'll strip fitter this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (7/2 +42%) Duke Of Moravia |
7/2(+42%) | (3) Duke Of Moravia 7/2, Reached the frame all 4 hurdles starts last season, including when third in a 21f handicap here in March. Too free when sent off favourite on return at Chepstow (19.4f, soft) and better expected back here with that run under his belt, provided he copes with this step up in trip. Maiden who has hinted at winning potential and now tries this far for the first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (9/1 -350%) Clondaw Pretender |
9/1(-350%) | (7) Clondaw Pretender 9/1, Patchy profile but started to get it together over fences a couple of seasons back and yet to be asked for his effort when unseating 2 out following a lengthy absence at Sedgefield (21.1f, soft) last month. Well backed that day and it'll be interesting to see if support again arrives. Bang there when falling over fences at Sedgefield on return from a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (12/1 +14%) Release The Kraken |
12/1(+14%) | (6) Release The Kraken 12/1, Modest maiden hurdler for Nicky Richards and failed to complete all 3 starts for Laura Morgan last winter. Resumes for another new yard on an attractive mark and will be a threat if he can get close to peak 2022 form, but record stands at 0-12 in this sphere. On a good mark if Martin Keighley can get him going again; market helpful. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CLONDAW PRETENDER was moving into contention when sent off favourite on his return from the sidelines, only to fall two out over fences at Sedgefield, and the switch back to hurdles may provide the ideal confidence boost. Fantomas remains on the same mark as his runner-up display at Southwell last month and is expected to be competitive once again. Movie King and Getbazoutofhere appeal most of the remainder.
The vote goes to Irish raider MOVIE KING, who has performed with credit both starts since returning from a break in September and his latest effort over fences at Punchestown was eye-catching. Clondaw Pretender represents a yard in good form and is feared on the back of an encouraging comeback run at Sedgefield where he held every chance when unseating rider at the second-last. Duke of Moravia, Fantomas and Getbazoutofhere are others to consider.
Irish challenger MOVIE KING has travelled over in search of some better ground and ran creditably over fences last time on softer.

1st (3) (3/1 +0%) Feel The Pinch |
3/1(+0%) | (3) Feel The Pinch 3/1, Has had a productive time since joining Robbie Llewellyn, gaining a fourth win since March when readily seeing off 7 rivals in a Southwell handicap hurdle (2m, good to soft) last month. Wasn't disgraced in a big-field at Cheltenham since and merits respect back in this sphere (2-5 over fences). Four wins for new yard since March and he's 2-5 over fences; dangerous back in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3/1 +70%) Lime Drop |
3/1(+70%) | (6) Lime Drop 3/1, Five-time hurdles winner during 2021/22 campaign and offered something to work on when second in a 6-runner handicap here (2½m, good) on chase debut in May. Resumes on a 2 lb lower mark and while her record when fresh is rather off-putting, she's not discounted. Runner-up on her chase debut here in May and needs a close look on this first run since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 +23%) Stormin Crossgales |
5/1(+23%) | (2) Stormin Crossgales 5/1, Hurdles winner who improved when making all on chase debut at Wincanton on reappearance last season. Hasn't managed to build on that since but he was a respectable third on return over hurdles back at Wincanton and couldn't rule out off this 2 lb lower mark. Won on chase debut last November but has mixed record since and others are more persuasive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (11/4 -22%) Desque De L'isle |
11/4(-22%) | (5) Desque De L'isle 11/4, Cosy winner of this race 12 months ago and made it 2-3 here when following up next time. Below par since but should come on for his reappearance effort at Huntingdon earlier this month and he's slipped back to an attractive mark. 10yo who is not easy to predict but he's 2-3 over C&D and won this race last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (15/2 -114%) Not Available |
15/2(-114%) | (1) Not Available 15/2, Useful chaser who hit the target 3 times last season, including when running away with a 5-runner Chepstow handicap in a first-time visor in April. However, subsequently pulled up at Kempton and this season's efforts over hurdles with cheekpieces refitted (retained here) have not been inspiring. Record of 6-22 over fences and has claims if he can revive back in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (14/1 -155%) You Say Nothing |
14/1(-155%) | (4) You Say Nothing 14/1, Limited to just 4 starts last term but won 2 of those, including a 2m handicap at Ffos Las (soft) when last seen in May. Resumes on a 6 lb higher mark and in a tougher race but will be a threat if fully tuned-up for this seasonal reappearance. Has won three of his last six, including at Ffos Las in May last time; respected on return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
YOU SAY NOTHING arrives having won two of his last three starts and a 6lb rise for the most recent of those victories may not be enough to stop him here. Feel The Pinch was successful when last seen over fences at Ffos Las in May and he should not be underestimated, while Stormin Crossgales and Desque De L'Isle are others to note.
DESQUE DE L'ISLE needs to bounce back having ended last season on a low-key note and was safely held when returning from 8 months off at Huntingdon. Conversely, it's worth noting that he failed to fire on his reappearance last season before scoring twice over this C&D (including this corresponding race) and, now 3 lb lower than for the second of those two wins, the 10-y-o is worth chancing. The others are all closely matched, with Feel The Pinch and Stormin Crossgales feared most.
A tight race in which Christian Williams' front-runner YOU SAY NOTHING gets the vote ahead of last year's winner Desque De L'Isle.

1st (11) (5/1 +50%) Only Fools |
5/1(+50%) | (11) Only Fools 5/1, Fair Flat winner in France and hit the crossbar in handicap hurdles at Newton Abbot and Worcester in May/June. Has mostly held form since, but needs to leave a lesser effort behind earlier this month and has had plenty of chances to get her head in front. Dual Flat winner but she's 0-10 over hurdles and was well below form at Exeter last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/1 -100%) Masked Dance |
9/1(-100%) | (2) Masked Dance 9/1, Made the frame both starts in bumpers and ran her best race over hurdles when runner-up at Huntingdon (15.8f, good to firm) in May. 2 lb higher on return and step back up in trip a slight worry (did fail to get home when trying this sort of trip back in January). Had wind op. Improved second at Huntingdon in May and she's respected on this return; has had wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/4 +31%) Minniemum |
11/4(+31%) | (1) Minniemum 11/4, From a good family and made a sound start to her handicap career when third at Hereford in January. Better than she could show on return from 9-months off when fifth there (19.7f, good to firm) just under 6 weeks ago (bad mistake 2 out) and every chance she can feature. Low-mileage 6yo who is in the mix back up in trip for yard that won this last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (3/1 -50%) Cooleenymore |
3/1(-50%) | (4) Cooleenymore 3/1, Showed improved form on return/handicap debut when runner-up at Chepstow (23.6f, heavy) earlier this month, well suited by the step up in trip. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (8/1 +33%) Tuscan Rose |
8/1(+33%) | (10) Tuscan Rose 8/1, Little to shout about so far, finishing last but not beaten far at Fontwell (21.8f, good to firm) 6 months ago. May yet do better when the emphasis is more on stamina so not entirely dismissed. Sx-race maiden who has not progressed and needs to raise her game on this return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (50/1 -257%) Our Pink Lady |
50/1(-257%) | (3) Our Pink Lady 50/1, Placed both starts over hurdles for Stuart Crawford but no impact on both outings for this yard in maiden hurdles this month. Heads into handicaps and will need to show plenty more to figure. Has struggled in both runs for new yard this autumn and has plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (50/1 -213%) Den The Diva |
50/1(-213%) | (9) Den The Diva 50/1, Little impact in bumper/mares' hurdles, latest after 8 months off at Plumpton (15.9f, good to soft) recently. Back up in trip for her handicap debut and will need to leave previous efforts behind. Well beaten in all four runs and needs major improvement on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (15/2 +17%) Happy Index |
15/2(+17%) | (8) Happy Index 15/2, Got off the mark over C&D in May before running at least as well in defeat when second in 5-runner event at Fontwell a fortnight later. Looked rusty returning after 5 months off at Hereford recently so she needs to get back on track. C&D winner but she was pulled up on her return and has something to prove after that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (16/1 -100%) Houston Calling |
16/1(-100%) | (5) Houston Calling 16/1, Clearly no star but has shown promise in novice/maiden hurdles back in the spring. Could well prove a different proposition on return now handicapping. Some promise in her three hurdle runs and needs watching in the market on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (28/1 -180%) Shiroccosmagicbaby |
28/1(-180%) | (6) Shiroccosmagicbaby 28/1, Winning Irish pointer who offered plenty to work on when second in a Hereford maiden hurdle (19.7f) on Rules debut in February. However, was soundly beaten in a couple of starts last month and now ventures down the handicap route. Has struggled in last two hurdle runs and needs a transformation on her handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (18/1 -29%) Hidden Belle |
18/1(-29%) | (12) Hidden Belle 18/1, Showed nothing in trio of novice hurdles (latest after 10 months off) but is bred to be suited by longer trips so could well prove a different proposition now handicapping. Had a wind op and a tongue tie is applied. Handicap newcomer who could do better with tongue-tie added on this step up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (80/1 -100%) Nancy Till |
80/1(-100%) | (7) Nancy Till 80/1, Promising in Irish points but yet to get anywhere near replicating that over hurdles, pulled up sporting a first-time hood at Chepstow (19.4f, heavy) earlier this month. Headgear discarded and best watched. Runner-up in Irish point but she's struggled over over hurdles and has a lot to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The unexposed COOLEENYMORE filled second place on her handicap bow at Chepstow a few weeks ago and it would be no surprise to see her go one better off the same mark here. Masked Dance also hit the crossbar on her most recent outing and has to be of interest on her return from a wind operation. The shortlist is completed by Houston Calling and Happy Index.
Plenty in with a squeak but preference is for MINNIEMUM, who is better than she could show on return at Hereford last month and Henry Daly's mare can get off the mark provided she keeps jumping errors to a minimum. Cooleenymore was well suited by the step up in trip on her handicap bow at Chepstow earlier this month and she may have to settle for silver for a third start in succession, ahead of Houston Calling and Hidden Belle.
Preference is for COOLEENYMORE, who was runner-up on her recent handicap debut Chepstow and is a big player if she can build on that.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (25/1 -108%) Bing Belle |
25/1(-108%) | (3) Bing Belle 25/1, Royal Anthem filly. Dam lightly raced in bumpers. Interesting newcomer for a yard with a good bumper record. Dam's siblings include a bumper winner; heed the market signals. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Irish raider METKAYINA was far from disgraced when third as favourite on her debut at Galway a month ago and she merits the utmost respect with the benefit of that experience. Chatty Chich has a similar profile to the selection and is an obvious threat. Jakana is an eyecatching newcomer for a yard that can ready one first time, while Bing Belle and Jena D'oudairies could also go well on their first starts.
An interesting bumper to conclude. The way that METKAYINA travelled on her Galway debut suggests that this sharp track should play to her strengths and she's preferred to Dan Skelton's Chatty Chich, who shaped well on her C&D debut back in May. Jena d'Oudairies, Jasmine Bliss and Bing Belle are respected rules newcomers in a race where the betting is likely to be informative.
Marginal preference is for Irish filly METKAYINA, who should build on her Galway effort. Jena D'Oudairies is feared most.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
