13:45 Ludlow Conditions Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

VIYANNI made a successful start over hurdles at Market Rasen before stepping up on that effort in one of the stronger juvenile contests run this season when third to Lulamba at Ascot. Connections might have an eye on Cheltenham for the Boodles next month and this appears to be a fine opportunity for him to progress further. Mister Cessna pulled up in the Finale at Chepstow on his UK bow and will find this easier. El Gavilan and Kotgar appear best of the remainder.

VIYANNI has made a promising start over hurdles, successful at Market Rasen before bumping into two good prospects at Ascot last time, so he looks to hold leading claims of resuming winning ways. The biggest threat could come from Mister Cessna, who was pitched in at the deep end on his stable/hurdling debut, ahead of El Gavilan.

Mister Cessna could prove a different proposition this time but VIYANNI should be tough to beat judged on what he showed at Ascot.

14:15 Ludlow Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

JASMINE BLISS may have had excuses when a beaten favourite at Ffos Las last month, with the yard form dropping off for a brief spell. However, the six-year-old, a dual bumper winner who finished runner-up to a subsequent Listed winner at Lingfield on her hurdling debut, gets the vote to show her true colours. Sea Presenting made a promising start under Rules when third at Warwick and is capable of being the main threat. Hot Goddess completes the shortlist.

Having won twice in bumpers, JASMINE BLISS made a promising start over hurdles when bumping into a next-time-out listed winner at Lingfield in November, so she is worth forgiving her latest effort and is taken to open her account in this sphere. Sea Presenting made an encouraging hurdles debut and is respected, with Betty's Tiara completing the shortlist.

Given Jasmine Bliss's capitulation last time at Ffos Las, the vote goes to SEA PRESENTING who shaped well at Warwick.

14:45 Ludlow Handicap Chase (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SIMPLE GETAWAY appeared to need his return to action at Exeter when shaping well for a fair way before getting tired in the closing stages. The seven-year-old was dropped 4lb for that effort, which gives him a strong chance on this occasion, especially with the run under his belt. Stepping up in trip may see Iron D'ex in a better light after his fourth at Hereford. Tout Sur Moi isn't discounted following wind surgery.

TOUT SUR MOI is given another chance to confirm chase debut promise back down in class. The unexposed Simple Getaway is a potential threat along with Faitque de l'Isle back off his proper mark.

The very lightly raced 7yo SIMPLE GETAWAY is open to improvement on this second chase start and gets the nod ahead of Mistymal.

15:15 Ludlow Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

VANDERPOEL's debut victory under Rules at Huntingdon last month couldn't have worked out much better, with the second, third and fifth all winning next time out. Ben Pauling's charge looks to have been found a golden opportunity to follow up and he's likely to prove a warm order. Smart Flat performer King Of Records must defy a 488-day layoff on his hurdles/stable bow but the five-year-old may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Grenardier.

Winning pointer VANDERPOEL created a positive impression when making a successful debut over hurdles at Huntingdon 5 weeks ago and open to improvement, he looks to hold outstanding claims in his bid to make it 2-2 under Rules. King of Records has a lengthy absence to overcome but was a fairly useful operator on the Flat in France and he could emerge as the lead danger on debut for Venetia Williams.

King Of Records showed pretty useful French Flat form but was not seen in 2024. He needs a good standard if he's to beat VANDERPOEL.

The progressive Superbolt warrants respect after scoring here and at Leicester in December, but he's effectively racing off a stone higher in the ratings now that Sam Twiston-Davies is back in the plate. With that in mind, CAN YOU CALL may thwart the five-year-old's hat-trick bid. Evan Williams' inmate found only a subsequent Grade 2 runner-up too strong at Chepstow and he can strike off an unchanged mark. Bobhopeornohope is also worth a second look.

CAN YOU CALL bounced back to form from his reduced mark when second at Chepstow and is potentially on a handy mark if building on that. The progressive Superbolt is bidding for the hat-trick and is the obvious threat. while Dibble Decker should prove all the better for his comeback spin over hurdles.

The youngster of the party, hat-trick seeking 5yo SUPERBOLT (nap) stands out in having potential and he can therefore score again.

(2) Looking As You Are 4/1, Won a C&D maiden and Plumpton novice (20.5f) last term and back to that sort of form when creditable fourth of 8 in handicap hurdle at Kempton (24.6f, good to soft, 25/1) 40 days ago, not ideally placed. Respected.
Won on this card last year; below form sent handicapping this term; chance if back to best.

(5) Springs A Girl 11/2, Bumper winner who bagged her second victory over hurdles when seeing off 6 rivals in C&D mares' novice (soft) in December. Remains relatively unexposed and merits consideration on handicap debut.
Won two (one over C&D) of her last three starts and brings potential to handicap debut.

Fairly treated, back hurdling, but this trip may be on the sharp side for her.

(7) Sweet Magic 3/1, Still a maiden but showed the benefit of her reappearance when second of 8 in a handicap hurdle at Aintree (20f, soft) on Boxing Day, giving the well-backed winner plenty to think about. 3 lb rise looks fair and another bold show is on the cards.
Short-headed at Aintree latest; stable had a big-race double at Musselburgh last weekend.

16:15 Ludlow Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

SWEET MAGIC bounced back to form when a short-head second over 2m4f at Aintree on Boxing Day and she could be hard to stop if repeating that level of form here, despite a 3lb rise. Baby Sage is an obvious threat following her success at Exeter, while Springs A Girl has to be feared on her first taste of handicap action. Others to note are Batwomen and Current Mood.

Preference is for SWEET MAGIC, who ran a cracker at Aintree last time and hails from a yard in fine form. Springs A Girl and Baby Sage rate the principal dangers.

This looks competitive but preference is for handicap debutante SPRINGS A GIRL ahead of fellow last-time-out winner Baby Sage.

16:45 Ludlow Hunter Chase (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ENRILO failed to fire in a handicap on his sole start this season, at Chepstow in October, but the 11-year-old can be given another chance in this company based on the pick of his efforts, which include finishing first past the post in the 2021 bet365 Gold Cup. Frere d'Armes is another with strong form claims but does have questions to answer after a disappointing effort at Taunton. Percussion completes the shortlist.

It's been 4 years since ENRILO last scored but he has plied his trade in much more competitive contests than this. He can make a successful hunter-chase debut. Percussion may provide the chief threat.

None of the five ran that well last time. ENRILO is on favourable terms with his rivals if he can put his best foot forward.
