1st (8) (15/8 -15%) Sea Of Sands |
15/8(-15%) | (8) Sea Of Sands 15/8, Useful on Flat in Germany/France for Jean-Pierre Carvalho, mid-division in claimer last time (Aug 2022). Warrants considerable respect on hurdling debut for top yard. German Group 3 winner over 1m2f in 2021, lost form in 2022; market may supply clues. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (4/1 +38%) The Mediator |
4/1(+38%) | (10) The Mediator 4/1, Fair hurdler. Blinkered for 1st time, shaped a bit better than the bare result when fourth of 20 in maiden hurdle at Galway (16.7f, good to soft, 5/1) 16 days ago. Can feature. Does not seem progressive but has been shown a fair standard of form in recent months. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3/1 +33%) Brave Fortune |
3/1(+33%) | (1) Brave Fortune 3/1, Run best excused when sixth of 11 in maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan (19f, good, 4/5) back in May, unsuited by emphasis on speed. Fancied to be bang there judged on his efforts back in the spring. Point winner, fair placed form over hurdles, off since disappointing Kilbeggan run in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (5/2 -67%) Special Cadeau |
5/2(-67%) | (9) Special Cadeau 5/2, Fairly useful hurdler. Back on track when second of 19 in maiden hurdle at Naas (16f, soft, 5/1) 6 months ago. First run for yard after leaving W. P. Mullins. Sure to go well provided he's ready to roll. Bumper winner in Britain, placed over hurdles for Willie Mullins, first run for this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (80/1 -400%) Derby Rock |
80/1(-400%) | (3) Derby Rock 80/1, €40,000 3-y-o, Milan gelding. Half-brother to useful hurdler/high-class chaser Benefficient, stayed 3m, and fairly useful 19f hurdle winner Leader In The Park. Dam unraced. Wears tongue strap. Half-brother to Grade 1-winning hurdler/chaser Benefficient, may need time and experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (300/1 -200%) Siul Molly Siul |
300/1(-200%) | (11) Siul Molly Siul 300/1, Hooded, never involved when fifteenth of 20 in maiden hurdle (150/1) at Galway (16.7f, good to soft) on debut 16 days ago. Huge price when finishing in rear in a Galway maiden in which The Mediator finished fourth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (200/1 -300%) Cresthill |
200/1(-300%) | (2) Cresthill 200/1, Point winner. 16/1, always behind when eleventh of 14 in maiden hurdle at Tramore (16.6f, good) on NH debut 7 days ago. Point winner on eighth attempt, jumped poorly at Tramore last week on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (150/1 -200%) River Derwent |
150/1(-200%) | (7) River Derwent 150/1, Fair handicapper on Flat, stays 8.5f, lost all chance at start last 2 outings. Likely outsider on hurdles bow. Three AW wins, two on turf, the most recent off 61 in May, best watched on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (5) (33/1 -106%) Elzaamsan |
33/1(-106%) | (5) Elzaamsan 33/1, Fair handicapper on Flat (stays 2m), successful at Leopardstown in August. 13/2, twelfth of 13 in handicap at Clonmel (16.6f, good) just under 3 weeks ago, doing too much too soon. Makes hurdles bow. Took a very long time to win on the Flat, twice down the field since breakthrough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (20/1 +20%) Glam De Vega |
20/1(+20%) | (6) Glam De Vega 20/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (stays 9f), down the field both starts in 2024. Has left Roger Varian/off 3 months ahead of this hurdling debut and the betting should prove a useful guide. Won twice for Roger Varian in 2022, missed 2023, sold cheaply after two runs this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (200/1 -100%) Diamond Jimmy |
200/1(-100%) | (4) Diamond Jimmy 200/1, Tongue strap on, always behind when eighth of 12 in bumper (80/1) at Killarney (17f, soft) on debut just under 5 weeks ago. Makes hurdles debut. Big price when tailed off in a bumper at Kilbeggan last month, can be ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The Willie Mullins-trained SEA OF SANDS was a Group 3 winner at three in Germany before losing his form at four. He hasn't been seen for over two years but is given the vote to make a winning start in this discipline. The selection's former stablemate Special Cadeau has had three starts over hurdles and was runner-up on testing ground at Naas in May. He returns from a summer break and starts off for Henry de Bromhead. The Mediator has been placed in half of his eight starts over hurdles but didn't improve much for first-time blinkers when fourth at Galway. Brave Fortune had a couple of decent hurdle runs in the spring and is another to consider.
A few of these in with a squeak but SPECIAL CADEAU got back on track when finishing runner-up at Naas 6 months ago and providing he's ready to roll, he's fancied to make a winning start for Henry de Bromhead at the expense of Sea of Sands, who hasn't been seen for over 2 years but warrants considerable respect making his hurdling debut for champion trainer Willie Mullins. Brave Fortune can edge out The Mediator for third.
German Group 3 winner SEA OF SANDS could not be a confident choice having been off for two years. However, he may be equal to the task

1st (4) (6/1 -100%) Zariygann |
6/1(-100%) | (4) Zariygann 6/1, Winning hurdles debut last month. 4/1, seventh of 15 in handicap at Roscommon (12.1f, soft) 23 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Open to improvement in this sphere. Flat maiden was an impressive Roscommon maiden hurdle winner and is respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/6 +56%) Gaucher |
5/6(+56%) | (2) Gaucher 5/6, Flat winner in France and made third hurdles start a winning one at Punchestown. 6/4, below form 18½ lengths fourth of 8 to Gale Mahler in listed hurdle at Galway (16.5f, good) 57 days ago, unable to sustain effort, but he's certainly in the right hands. Punchestown maiden winner but was too keen when well below form at Galway; has to rebound. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/1 -150%) Crack The Sky |
10/1(-150%) | (5) Crack The Sky 10/1, Improved form when off the mark at Kilbeggan last month. Disappointing sixth of 8 in minor event hurdle (9/4) at Bellewstown (17.2f, good) 28 days ago. Won at Kilbeggan but a poor run at Bellewstown; looks yard's second-string. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (16/1 -113%) Itsalladream |
16/1(-113%) | (3) Itsalladream 16/1, Upped his game when winning 20-runner novice hurdle at Galway (16.7f, good to soft) 16 days ago, always holding on. Plenty to find on form but type to improve again. Well behind Zariygann at Roscommon but won at Galway last time; needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (11/4 +17%) Le Coq Hardi |
11/4(+17%) | (1) Le Coq Hardi 11/4, Useful hurdler. Good 10 lengths second of 8 to Gale Mahler in listed hurdle at Galway (16.5f, good, 13/2) 57 days ago. Doesn't meet anything of that ability here so big player despite top weight. Maiden and novice winner was well held by a smart mare at Galway but down in grade now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
GAUCHER can reverse Galway Festival form with Le Coq Hardi and land this prize. The Frankel gelding has jumped left the last couple of times and should be helped by switching from right-handed tracks. He was keen when easily winning a Punchestown maiden and was worse in that regard when a disappointing favourite at Ballybrit. Paul Townend will probably let him stride on over this sharp two miles and he is taken to bounce back to form. Dual hurdles winner Le Coq Hardi was over eight lengths ahead of the selection at Galway and will have plenty of supporters, while Zariygann impressed on hurdling debut at Roscommon when he had recent winner Itsalladream a long way behind in third.
LE COQ HARDI had little chance with a with a smart one at Galway las time but he beat the rest easily enough (including Gaucher) so he's selected to successfully concede weight all round. The Willie Mullins-pair Gaucher and Crack The Sky have to bounce back from lesser efforts but that is perfectly plausible.
GAUCHER was too keen at Galway last time when also jumping left. He can rebound at this more suitable track.

8/1(+43%) | (17) King Kali 8/1, Good third of 14 in novice hurdle at Kilbeggan (19.3f, good to soft, 11/2) 75 days ago. Runner-up in a Naas handicap and third in a Kilbeggan maiden; chance if repeating those. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (16) (11/1 -38%) Impero |
11/1(-38%) | (16) Impero 11/1, Fairly useful/untrustworthy maiden on Flat, possibly needed run last time. Fair form on standout run over hurdles. Makes handicap hurdle debut for new trainer and could go well. Long time since the last of three maiden hurdle runs; market might guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (8/1 +27%) Clonbury Bridge |
8/1(+27%) | (6) Clonbury Bridge 8/1, Latest win in hurdle at Cork in March. Respectable seventh of 14 in handicap hurdle (13/2) at Galway (16.7f, soft) 52 days ago. Not taken lightly. Two good runs at the Galway festival over 2m; stays further than this trip and can go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

18/1(+28%) | (11) Liberated Light 18/1, 9/1, eighteenth of 20 in handicap hurdle at Galway (16.7f, good to soft) 16 days ago. Third to Gabriel Ranger at Cork but reportedly didn't jump well when poor at Galway since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (40/1 -60%) High Honour |
40/1(-60%) | (14) High Honour 40/1, Winner in hurdle at Sligo in August. Twelfth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Bellewstown (20.5f, good, 12/1) 28 days ago. Won at Sligo but poor run at Bellewstown a week later was too bad to be true; must rebound. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (33/1 -200%) Swelltime |
33/1(-200%) | (3) Swelltime 33/1, 12/1, improved to win 15-runner handicap hurdle at Killarney (20.2f, good to soft) 32 days ago, clear from halfway under enterprising ride. Needs to back that up. Won over 2m4f last time; drop in trip won't be an issue and can go well off 8lb higher. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (17/2 -21%) Suttons Hill |
17/2(-21%) | (5) Suttons Hill 17/2, Off 14 months, below form sixth of 12 in novice hurdle (9/4) at Tramore (21.4f, good to soft) 38 days ago. May have needed that and he's one to consider now handicapping. Placed at this track; below form on return after a long absence and has to return to best. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Plenty with chances in a competitive handicap and recent Down Royal runner-up EASTMORE is a tentative selection. Useful on the Flat last year, the Awtaad gelding seemed to benefit from the application of a tongue-tie when staying on well over a furlong shorter last time and the lightly-raced four-year-old is open to improvement. Riyami, for whom JJ Slevin is an interesting booking, has been running well under both codes this year and was third over this trip at Kilbeggan last month. King Kali was narrowly denied at Naas in the spring and ran well in a Killarney maiden when last seen in July. He may find the trip a faction short but should give a good account nonetheless.
EASTMORE finished strongly and just failed when well backed at Down Royal last time and could go one better with more improvement likely. Cork winner Gabriel Ranger and Suttons Hill are a couple of others to consider.
Probably a bit unlucky when just touched off at Down Royal last time, there should be more to come from EASTMORE.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (8/1 -23%) Beaufort Scale |
8/1(-23%) | (2) Beaufort Scale 8/1, Lightly-raced winner who matched previous form when third of 7 in novice hurdle at Killarney (22.8f, soft, 6/1) 34 days ago, barely adequate test. Step back up in trip will suit on handicap debut and remains capable of better. Kilbeggan maiden winner over this trip; not as good in Killarney novice since; needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (17) (12/1 +82%) Arabian King |
12/1(+82%) | (17) Arabian King 12/1, Fourteenth of 17 in handicap (100/1) at Navan (10.2f, good) 18 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Below form on last hurdle outing. Won on Flat at this track last year; decent hurdle 3rd earlier in year but poor at Galway. |

|PU| (8) (28/1 -12%) Peaches And Cream |
28/1(-12%) | (8) Peaches And Cream 28/1, 22/1, eleventh of 13 in handicap hurdle at Killarney (22.4f, good to soft) 32 days ago. C Has been mostly well below form over fences and hurdles this year so needs a revival. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The Henry De Bromhead-trained COMO PARK could still be a step ahead of the handicapper off a mark of 123. A smart performer on the Flat, the five-year-old has steadily progressed since switching his attention to jumping. Having won over this distance at Bellewstown on his penultimate start, the son of Camelot looks a real thorough stayer. Walk Away Harry, who failed to land a gamble at the Punchestown Festival in May, should be all the better for his recent outing at Sligo. The Charles Byrnes-trained six-year-old will appreciate the better ground he encounters on this occasion. Top-weight Walking On Glass, a winner on the Flat last time, merits respect with Peter Smithers taking off a valuable 7lb.
BEAUFORT SCALE matched his previous form in spite of the drop in trip when third at Killarney last month, so he's an appealing candidate now stepping back up to 3m on handicap debut. Como Park and Mister Beeton head the opposition in a competitive affair..
Back to form when winning at Kilbeggan last time in first-time cheekpieces, CAMINO ROCK could follow up off a 7lb higher mark.

1st (3) (6/1 +20%) Flooring Porter |
6/1(+20%) | (3) Flooring Porter 6/1, Dual staying hurdle winner at Cheltenham and second in this year's renewal. Hasn't quite translated that ability to fences but he did win a 3m Cheltenham novice last autumn. Didn't feature in a 17f Killarney handicap chase in July but better can be expected back over a more suitable trip. Dual Stayers' Hurdle winner, 2m1f much too sharp at Killarney on handicap chase debut. |

28/1(+15%) | (16) Hurricane Georgie 28/1, 2 wins from 5 runs this season. Won 7-runner minor event chase at Galway (22.5f, soft, 4/1) 52 days ago, well on top finish. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Kennedy looks elsewhere this time. Good winner of a Galway conditions chase after Plate seventh, first-time with cheekpieces. |

9/1(+0%) | (2) The Real Whacker 9/1, Winner of the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival. Came up short at the top level last season but may find life a bit easier attempting to give weight to lesser rivals back in a handicap. Brown Advisory winner in 2023, ambitiously campaigned last season, could feature here. |

10th (14) (14/1 +58%) The Goffer |
14/1(+58%) | (14) The Goffer 14/1, 15/2, pulled up in handicap chase at Punchestown (20.4f, good to soft) 147 days ago, labouring long way out. Jumped poorly and never travelling well at the Punchestown festival, plenty to prove. |

16/1(-60%) | (7) Duffle Coat 16/1, Latest win in chase at Ballinrobe in May. 25/1, good second of 22 in Galway Plate (22.5f, good to soft) 56 days ago. Runner-up in the Galway Plate 1/2l in front of stablemate Zanahiyr, has gone up 5lb. |

|PU| (8) (25/1 -108%) Desertmore House |
25/1(-108%) | (8) Desertmore House 25/1, Won this 12 months ago. 5/1, creditable third of 14 in handicap hurdle at Naas (22.7f, heavy) in February. Off since. Has a 9 lb higher mark than last year so he'll need a big career best to follow up. Career-best performance when winning this race last year off 9lb lower, lacks a recent run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Galway Plate third ZANAHIYR can take the feature race of the Harvest Festival for trainer Gordon Elliott. Formerly a high-class hurdler, the seven-year-old has yet to reach those heights over fences but as a result he is rated 6lb lower in that discipline. Still lightly raced over the larger obstacles after only six starts, the Nathaniel gelding can land this valuable prize. Stablemate Duffle Coat kept on strongly to take the runner-up spot in that aforementioned Galway contest. Potentially a more thorough stayer, the grey shouldn't be far way under Danny Gilligan. Perceval Legallois, who was just touched off over flights at this meeting last year, also holds leading claims having improved since switching to chasing.
Gavin Cromwell looks to hold a strong hand in this year's Kerry National, with PERCEVAL LEGALLOIS taken to make up for his Galway Plate defeat and confirm the significant promise of his first 2 attempts in handicap chases. Stablemate Flooring Porter has obvious scope from a mark in the 140s on hurdle ability and should find this test much more suitable than the 17f he tackled in his previous handicap chase. Solitary Man and Gordon Elliott pair Zanahiyr and Chemical Energy are also shortlisted.
Gordon Elliott may have the solution with ZANAHIYR, third in the Galway Plate. He can reverse form with runner-up Duffle Coat

Second of 11 in novice chase (11/8) at Galway (18.2f, good to soft) on debut over fences 16 days ago. Looks the one to beat. Second to a good sort on chasing debut at Killarney, sound chance of going one better now. |

2nd (3) (9/2 +0%) Pink In The Park |
9/2(+0%) | (3) Pink In The Park 9/2, Fairly useful hurdler. 1 win from 3 runs this season. Fairly useful winner at 19f over hurdles. 9/1, fourth of 6 in novice chase at Killarney (23.4f, good to soft) 32 days ago. Winning chase debut at Galway was over further, made a bad mistake three out at Killarney. |

3rd (5) (11/1 -120%) Sainte Dona |
11/1(-120%) | (5) Sainte Dona 11/1, Fairly useful chaser. Career best when winning 6-runner novice chase at Fairyhouse (21.3f, heavy, 3/1), unchallenged. Off 7 months. Trounced the only other two finishers in mares' race at Fairyhouse in February, off since. |

|PU| (1) (5/2 +38%) Broomfield Bijou |
5/2(+38%) | (1) Broomfield Bijou 5/2, Fairly useful hurdler. Fairly useful winner at 17f over hurdles. Career best when winning 8-runner novice chase (11/8) at Wexford (16f, good to soft) on debut over fences 63 days ago. Should progress. Led from early and jumped well when winning on her chase debut at Wexford in July. |

20/1(-150%) | (2) Nt Field Minnesota 20/1, Fairly useful chaser. Career best when winning 8-runner novice chase (12/1) at Killarney (23.4f, soft) on debut over fences 34 days ago, driven out. Not dismissed. Saw out the extended 2m7f well at Killarney, may not be as effective over shorter trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SHECOULDBEANYTHING is the only horse in the field that hasn't won a chase, so receives a 7lb allowance from all of her rivals. She was more than useful over flights and did a lot right when runner-up on chasing debut at Galway. She was a wide-margin winner of a mares' hurdle at this track in June. A bad mistake three out did for Pink In The Park at Killarney as she trailed home fourth for Willie Mullins. Prior to that, she landed a beginners' chase in Galway and Paul Townend partners her over stablemate Nt Field Minnesota. Broomfield Bijou hacked up on chasing bow at Wexford, while Popova and the returning Sainte Dona shouldn't be ruled out.
SHECOULDBEANYTHING looks the pick at the weights and there's likely more to come, so she gets the nod ahead of Broomfield Bijou, who upped her game to score at Wexford a couple of months ago. Popova isn't out of it.
Course hurdles winner SHECOULDBEANYTHING was second to a smart type on her chasing debut and can exploit the 7lb concession

5/1(+29%) | (2) Champagne Kid 5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 4/1, fifth of 14 in bumper at Clonmel (16.2f, soft) 132 days ago. Up in trip. Two solid runs in Clonmel bumpers; ground versatile; needs a bit more after a break. |

Off 8 months after cracking second at Leopardstown on debut. 8/13 and tongue strap on for 1st time, fourth of 15 in bumper at Kilbeggan (20f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Obvious claims. Close 2nd at Leopardstown last winter; not as good at Kilbeggan on return but can improve. |

5th (4) (18/1 +64%) Healdsburg |
18/1(+64%) | (4) Healdsburg 18/1, Half-brother to useful hurdler Jet of Magic (19f-23f winner, by Jet Away). Failed to complete on both starts in points in Dec 2023. Unseated and pulled-up in two points; best watched on rules debut unless market support. |

7/2(+13%) | (5) Ira Hayes 7/2, £56,000 5-y-o, successful sole start in British points (Apr 20). Of obvious interest. Won a point in UK and the runner-up that day since won a maiden hurdle; likely to go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

5/1(+17%) | (6) Quint Major 5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Fourteenth of 19 in bumper at Punchestown (18.8f, heavy, 22/1) 145 days ago. Fine debut run but form went downhill after; needs a return to his best back after absence. |

50/1(-52%) | (12) She's Poetry 50/1, 16/1 and tongue strap on, eleventh of 15 in bumper at Galway (16.7f, good to soft) on NH debut 16 days ago. Beaten 41l on debut at Galway and has to improve hugely from that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) (66/1 -32%) Vroomvroomboo |
66/1(-32%) | (13) Vroomvroomboo 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules. 100/1, last of 9 in novice hurdle at Limerick (16.4f, soft) on hurdles bow 118 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Solid run on good ground at Downpatrick; well beaten in a maiden hurdle since; needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (40/1 -400%) Rookery Woods |
40/1(-400%) | (7) Rookery Woods 40/1, Successful sole start in points (Feb 2023). Won a maiden point for this yard in February 2023 but questions after being off since. |

12th (8) (14/1 -17%) Victor Sweet |
14/1(-17%) | (8) Victor Sweet 14/1, Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler Last Man Standing and Flaming Sword. 16/1, third of 12 in bumper at Bellewstown (17.2f, good) on NH debut 28 days ago. This longer trip will suit. Promising debut effort at Bellewstown over 2m; pedigree suggests that this trip will suit. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ARTIC LANE is worth another chance after being a beaten favourite in fourth at Kilbeggan. That was his first run for almost nine months after a very solid runner-up berth in a Leopardstown bumper over Christmas. A stack of winners have come out of that Leopardstown race and he could be the next one. John McConnell's Mahler gelding Ira Hayes is certainly one to monitor in the market ahead of his debut. There was merit in Victor Sweet's third place on debut at Bellewstown, while Champagne Kid, Quint Major and Westernersunrise all have chances of a cheque.
ARTIC LANE probably needed the run back from 8 months off at Kilbeggan and can belatedly confirm the promise of his fine second at Leopardstown at Christmas. Ira Hayes is a player having won a point in Britain in April. Victor Sweet will be suited by this longer trip having finished third at Bellewstown 4 weeks ago and he has a shout.
Having been below form on return at Kilbeggan, ARTIC LANE can make up for that back on a track that can suit better.
Ths is the racecard key.

It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
