1st (6) (2.25/1 -13%) Ciara Pearl |
2.25/1(-13%) | (6) Ciara Pearl 2.25/1, Once-raced maiden. 9/1, second of 5 in maiden at Bath (8f, good) on debut 71 days ago. Open to progress and makes plenty of appeal. Gave a 1-6 shot a big scare on her debut at Bath in July; interesting contender on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7.5/1 +46%) Beau Gars |
7.5/1(+46%) | (2) Beau Gars 7.5/1, Once-raced maiden. 14/1, fourth of 6 in maiden at Ffos Las (8f, good) on debut, slowly away. Off 93 days. May do better. Held in fourth of six on his Ffos Las debut in July and is best watched on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3.5/1 +22%) Monkmoor Pip |
3.5/1(+22%) | (1) Monkmoor Pip 3.5/1, 4/1, won 6-runner maiden at this C&D (AW) on debut 9 days ago, well ridden. This is tougher under a penalty but his pedigree gives him the scope for better. Made winning debut over C&D last week; this is tougher under a penalty but he's respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (1.88/1 +16%) Huda Star |
1.88/1(+16%) | (7) Huda Star 1.88/1, Twice-raced maiden. 2/1, eighth of 11 in maiden at Chelmsford City (10f). Off 105 days. Shaped with plenty of promise on debut and is worth another chance to confirm that on the back of a breathing operation. Disappointing at Chelmsford and has bit to prove dropped to 1m on her return; had wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (12/1 -200%) Karatayka |
12/1(-200%) | (4) Karatayka 12/1, Fair mare. 7/2, fifth of 7 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f, soft). Off 157 days. Makes polytrack debut. Something to prove but definite claims on her best form. 0-10 but she sets a fair standard on her best form and is respected back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (33/1 +50%) Artavian |
33/1(+50%) | (3) Artavian 33/1, 17,000 gns foal, £11,500 yearling, Tasleet gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including useful 5f-6f winner Muscika and ungenuine 5f winner Sur Mer. Yard 0-25 in novice events in recent years and he's best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (80/1 -21%) National Health |
80/1(-21%) | (5) National Health 80/1, Once-raced maiden on Flat. 25/1, eighth of 10 in maiden at Southwell (11.1f) on flat debut 7 days ago, missing break. Down in trip. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Has struggled over hurdles and on the Flat in his two runs this year; can only be watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (18/1 +45%) Scramble |
18/1(+45%) | (8) Scramble 18/1, Modest filly. Remains a maiden after 17 Flat runs. Fourth of 7 in maiden at Brighton (8f, heavy, 6/1) 17 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Generally regressive 17-race maiden who has struggled in her last two runs; no appeal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MONKMOOR PIP returns to the scene of his debut success nine days ago, where he showed a nice turn of foot to score over this C&D and Hugo Palmer's charge looks to have a good opportunity to make it two wins from two starts with that outing under his belt. Ciara Pearl appears the most obvious threat after getting within a short head of upsetting a long odds-on favourite over 1m at Bath in July and she shaped as though that initial experience was needed. Huda Star weakened late on when sent off favourite for a 1m2f maiden at Chelmsford in June and should be suited by dropping in distance.
HUDA STAR caught the eye on debut and, despite a tame effort since, she remains with potential and is taken to get the better of Ciara Pearl, who also shaped well first time out. Monkmoor Pip is another player.
The vote goes to CIARA PEARL, who gave a hotpot a big scare at Bath in July and is a big player if she can build on that promising run.

1st (5) (13/2 +19%) Nordic Glory |
13/2(+19%) | (5) Nordic Glory 13/2, C&D winner. Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. 4/1 and cheekpieces on for first time, fourth of 10 in handicap at this C&D (AW) 9 days ago. 3-time course winner; not found his best form this year & opposable despite his lowly mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/3 +5%) So Sleepy |
10/3(+5%) | (4) So Sleepy 10/3, C&D winner. 10/1, creditable third of 10 in handicap at this C&D (AW) 9 days ago, doing well to finish as close as she did given she blew the start. Shortlist material from the same mark. C&D winner on debut; back to form with a close third over C&D last week; 2lb well in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/1 +9%) Sparked |
5/1(+9%) | (3) Sparked 5/1, C&D winner. 7/2, career best when winning 6-runner handicap at Bath (5f, good to firm) 22 days ago. Showed a willing attitude that day and she seems sure to give it a good go back on the AW. Won this race last year and comes here on the back of a Bath success; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (15/2 +12%) We're Reunited |
15/2(+12%) | (7) We're Reunited 15/2, Latest win at Bath in May. 9/2, creditable second of 12 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, good) 19 days ago. Can make presence felt. Comes here in form and ran well over 6f here in 2021; other pace to deal with this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/2 -13%) Global Effort |
9/2(-13%) | (2) Global Effort 9/2, 7/1, sixth of 8 in handicap at Beverley (5f, good to firm), slowly away. Off 100 days. Makes polytrack debut with blinkers on for the first time. Has shown winning potential on AW; blinkers now added; William Buick a positive booking. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (13/2 -86%) Rewilding |
13/2(-86%) | (6) Rewilding 13/2, 15/2, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 10 days ago. Carries penalty but of interest after that performance. 6lb penalty for a narrow win in a weaker race ten days ago may find him out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (200/1 -203%) Poppyequiano |
200/1(-203%) | (9) Poppyequiano 200/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Ninth of 13 in handicap at Lingfield (5f, good to firm, 200/1) 45 days ago. She has recorded a peak RPR of just 29 in her five starts to date; not easily recommended. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RR| (1) (5/1 +17%) Imperiousity |
5/1(+17%) | (1) Imperiousity 5/1, Unreliable sort. C&D winner. 11/1, refused to race in handicap at Sandown (5f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Clearly comes with risks attached now. C&D winner; has form claims but he refused to race at Sandown last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
SPARKED won this race off a 2lb lower mark last year and looks primed for another bold bid, having returned to form when making all under today's rider at Bath last month. So Sleepy is due to go up 2lb in the future after a close second over this C&D last week (Nordic Glory fourth) and she can go well off the same mark. Rewilding is another to consider following a narrow victory at Wolverhampton 10 days ago but a 6lb penalty leaves him with no margin for error.
SO SLEEPY would have probably cashed in on this reduced mark had she started on terms over C&D last week so is well worth another chance. Sparked was better than ever at Bath 3 weeks ago so she's feared most, ahead of We're Reunited.
Last year's winner Sparked can go well again but SO SLEEPY (nap) returned to form here last week and can gain a second C&D success.

12th (2) (125/1 -213%) King Of France |
125/1(-213%) | (2) King Of France 125/1, Once-raced maiden. 40/1, twelfth of 13 in maiden at Windsor (6f, good to firm) on debut 31 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Milliterries has experience on her side after a couple of respectable efforts on turf in August and must be considered, but Ralph Beckett has his string in good order at present and preference is for his BERNESE. The form of her debut fifth over this trip at Newmarket looks fairly solid, with the third going on to win twice and contest the Rockfel Stakes, and this half-sister to a 6f juvenile winner on the all-weather may appreciate the switch to Polytrack. Noble Galahad cost 50,000 euros as a yearling and could be the pick of the newcomers for a yard among the winners in recent weeks.
BERNESE offered some encouragement when fifth at Newmarket on debut and, given a break since she's fancied to improve enough to land this lesser event. Newcomers Noble Galahad and Overture are potential dangers.
The Ralph Beckett-trained BERNESE is open to improvement on her second start and earns the vote ahead of the newcomer Overture.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (33/1 -32%) John Steed |
33/1(-32%) | (6) John Steed 33/1, Finished beaten third behind 2 subsequent winners at Haydock last month but wasn't in same form when fourth of 7 in nursery at Yarmouth (7f, good to soft, 9/2) 16 days ago. Others make more appeal. Hasn't run badly the last twice but now 0-7 and likely to be vulnerable once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (80/1 -21%) Alnoory Star |
80/1(-21%) | (11) Alnoory Star 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 50/1, matched previous form when fifth of 8 in nursery at Salisbury (7f, good to firm) 20 days ago. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

4/1(-45%) | (10) Bulldog Drummond 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 7/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, very good neck second of 10 to Tropical Air in nursery at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 10 days ago, nearest finish. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Ran better on nursery debut than she did last time out, but could still give good account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (20/1 -167%) Timebar |
20/1(-167%) | (9) Timebar 20/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Fifth of 11 in maiden at Newbury (6f, soft, 16/1) 13 days ago, not knocked about. Type to improve now handicapping, though no chances taken with opening mark. Not obviously well treated but useful pedigree provides hope that he will improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (100/1 -300%) Meet Me In Meraki |
100/1(-300%) | (12) Meet Me In Meraki 100/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 5/1, again proved keen when fifth of 7 in nursery at Kempton (6f) 22 days ago, slowly away. Others more persuasive. Only fifth of seven on nursery debut and others make greater appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (2) (22/1 +12%) Guns And Flowers |
22/1(+12%) | (2) Guns And Flowers 22/1, Winner at Chelmsford City in June. Again below that level when sixth of 8 in nursery (13/2) at Salisbury (7f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Others preferred on recent efforts. Polytrack winner who may not have been suited by good/good to firm ground the last twice. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
TROPICAL AIR is on a roll and even a 12lb penalty might not be enough to prevent Charlie Johnston's charge from making it four wins on the spin. Switching to the all-weather has really helped this juvenile and when the money was down at Newcastle on Monday, another success was forthcoming. It is going to take a big performance to deny him another victory, but keep an eye on Cuban Harry in first-time blinkers and Wolverhampton runner-up Bulldog Drummond.
TROPICAL AIR got the better of Bulldog Drummond 2 runs back before scoring at Newcastle on Monday and despite Charlie Johnston's charge now shouldering a double penalty, so rapidly is he improving that he's fancied to extended his winning sequence to 4. Bulldog Drummond should prove capable of putting it up to the selection again, with Mitwaa and Enpassant completing the shortlist.

17/2(-89%) | (12) Labiqa 17/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 11/2, good second of 13 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 8 days ago. Worth a chance to go one better despite the quick turnaround. Latest 2nd at Kempton was encouraging; 1m worth exploring; could do with settling better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (33/1 -83%) Lunarscape |
33/1(-83%) | (4) Lunarscape 33/1, 9/1, ninth of 14 in handicap at Leicester (8.2f, good to soft) 10 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Makes polytrack debut. Tongue strap on 1st time. 10/3(+26%) | (5) Inverlochy 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden. Respectable eighth of 13 in handicap (7/1) at Newbury (8f, firm). Off 112 days. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (16/1 +0%) Glory Sky |
16/1(+0%) | (7) Glory Sky 16/1, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Kempton in May. Respectable sixth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 17/2) 12 days ago, not ideally placed. Could get involved if things drop right. 7f AW novice winner in May; no progress in two handicaps; return to 1m not enough to tempt. |

50/1(-100%) | (11) Deep In My Heart 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 6 in handicap at Brighton (8f, heavy, 9/1) 17 days ago. Not easy to make a case for. Ground may not have suited last time; still early days but improvement is required to win. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (10/1 +0%) Twilight Dancer |
10/1(+0%) | (2) Twilight Dancer 10/1, Latest win at Salisbury in August. Creditable second of 8 in handicap at Sandown (7f, good, 9/1) 20 days ago. Unlikely to be too far away. Two 7f wins this summer; solid placed efforts the last twice; new trip could spark more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (13/2 -18%) Wadacre Grace |
13/2(-18%) | (3) Wadacre Grace 13/2, C&D winner. Respectable fifth of 12 in handicap (10/1) at Kempton (8f) 29 days ago. Solid proposition on this surface and is likely to be thereabouts again. C&D winner; 5lb lower than for last success; latest fifth not working out; vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (40/1 -60%) Hard Act To Follow |
40/1(-60%) | (6) Hard Act To Follow 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Ninth of 13 in handicap at Kempton (8f, 18/1) 36 days ago. Difficult ask. Fluffed the start on August's handicap debut; still has time to do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (17/2 +47%) Harriet's Angel |
17/2(+47%) | (9) Harriet's Angel 17/2, 12/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 29 days ago. Not completely dismissed. Promise in the spring; no improvement for wind op/tongue-tie latest; 1m a query. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (25/1 +50%) Sienna Breeze |
25/1(+50%) | (10) Sienna Breeze 25/1, 12/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f). Off 12 months. Visor on 1st time. Returning from a year off; inconsistent but down in weights and new headgear enlisted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LABIQA has produced two solid efforts in defeat since switching to handicap company and her time is near. Beaten a length into fourth at Ayr before earning a silver medal at Kempton, it's only a matter of time before she strikes at this level and she lines up here in receipt of weight all round. Inverlochy struggled to land a blow at Newbury but has less on her plate this time, while Tamaluk makes some appeal too.
LABIQA upped her game when second at Kempton eight days ago and, with the longer trip sure to suit, she's capable of going one better if the race doesn't come too soon. Silver Screen and Twilight Dancer can also have a case made for them.
Neither Labiqa nor TWILIGHT DANCER have proved their stamina for 1m but both come here in form and shape as though it will suit.

9/2(-13%) | (7) Golden Phase 9/2, Winner at Bath in August. Good second of 10 in handicap (6/1) at Kempton (8f) 26 days ago and she's clearly in top form. On the up in recent starts and 1m on Polytrack no issue; still capable of better. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (16/1 -113%) Kenstone |
16/1(-113%) | (3) Kenstone 16/1, Latest win at Chepstow in June. Fifth of 7 in handicap at Bath (8f, good, 9/5) 19 days ago. Merits consideration. Disappointing favourite at Bath last month; in good order beforehand but others safer here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (50/1 -100%) Alicefromumbridge |
50/1(-100%) | (12) Alicefromumbridge 50/1, C&D winner. Creditable fourth of 8 in handicap (16/1) at Lingfield (9f, good to firm) 54 days ago. Cheekpieces on first time. C&D winner in January but no progress since; now tried in cheekpieces. |

28/1(-12%) | (9) Gintini 28/1, Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at this C&D (AW, 50/1) 29 days ago. Limit is established. Ran better over C&D last month without entirely convincing he needed this far. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
DAISY ROOTS is holding her form well at present and looks the safest play in what is a tricky puzzle for punters to solve. She won of soft ground at Ffos Las in July and has done enough on the all-weather recently, most notably when a neck second at Chelmsford last time, to suggest she can strike in this sphere too. Island Native was narrowly denied at Wolverhampton latest and that was arguably his best effort to date. Golden Phase is another to be interested in.
ISLAND NATIVE ran as well as he ever has when runner-up at Wolverhampton 10 days ago and eased further in grade, Heather Main's 3-y-o makes plenty of appeal. 1m could be Daisy Roots' optimum trip and she's a threat, with the veteran Kenstone another to consider.

5th (5) (9/2 +44%) Lord Clenaghcastle |
9/2(+44%) | (5) Lord Clenaghcastle 9/2, Respectable third of 8 in handicap at Bath (8f, good, 5/1) 19 days ago, caught further back than ideal. Looks well worth a go at this trip and he's interesting. Two promising runs for new yard; stamina not assured but 1m2f looks worth a go; contender. |

8th (4) (6/1 +0%) She's A Mirage |
6/1(+0%) | (4) She's A Mirage 6/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in August. Bit below form seventh of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f, 5/1) 21 days ago. Unexposed over 1m2f and she's won two of her last four; has to enter calculations. |

22/1(+12%) | (11) Gosmore 22/1, Cheekpieces on for first time, seventh of 10 in handicap at Ffos Las (12f, heavy, 28/1) 34 days ago. Not living up to her pedigree; too soon to write off completely but not easily fancied. |

5/1(+58%) | (8) Roman Tempest 5/1, 10/1, respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (12f) 50 days ago, very slowly away. Looks competitive on form. The odd promising effort but he'll need to raise his game to win, even at this low level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (66/1 +0%) On The Nose |
66/1(+0%) | (10) On The Nose 66/1, 150/1, last of 5 in handicap at Brighton (11.9f, heavy) 17 days ago. Blinkers back on. Has work to do. 2 heavy defeats for new yard after layoff; blinkers & R Clutterbuck could spark extra here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
STARRY EYES finished a close-up fourth over a mile at Chelmsford on her latest outing and she has been left on the same rating for that effort. The seven-year-old takes a step back up in distance and that could eke out the improvement needed to score here. She's A Mirage was victorious on her penultimate start at Wolverhampton and would be a big player if running to that level of form, while Star Of Epsom won over C&D off 2lb lower in June and she is also considered.
This trip could be what LORD CLENAGHCASTLE needs at this advanced stage of his career and if that does prove to be the case, he's certainly weighted to strike. Starry Eyes and Star of Epsom have something to recommend them, too.

15/2(+46%) | (3) Crazy Maisie 15/2, Sixth of 8 in handicap (33/1) at Kempton (11f) 22 days ago. Falling in the weights without looking like cashing in at present, for all this is easier. Big chance on this winter's form but she's been out of sorts more recently. |

33/1(+0%) | (10) Lady Of Nepal 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 150/1, last of 10 in handicap at Sandown (10f, heavy) 15 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Heavy defeats in both handicap runs; down in the weights but not easily recommended. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
SOMEONE'S WISH and Jimmy Mark are both last-time-out winners and they could fight this one out, with marginal preference for the former as he could have plenty more to come on only his second handicap start. The son of Buratino went in by half a length over the extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton last week and looks capable of defying a 6lb penalty. The latter has a 3lb higher rating to contend with but should go well again, while Crazy Maisie makes the most appeal of the remainder.
SOMEONE'S WISH and Jimmy Mark are 3-y-os who produced career-best efforts last time and the pair could easily dominate this. Marginal preference is with the former, who landed a few bets on handicap debut at Wolverhampton.

11th (10) (40/1 -82%) Seraphic |
40/1(-82%) | (10) Seraphic 40/1, 21/10, won 9-runner juvenile hurdle at Clairefontaine (16.9f, soft) 70 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Hugo Merienne. Wears tongue strap. Makes handicap debut. Worth a market check back in this sphere. Easy winner over hurdles in final run in France; needs watching in market on stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Fox Flame is seeking a hat-trick after her success over 1m5f here last month and she ought to go close once again off only 3lb higher, but the vote goes to the Richard Hughes-trained EMPEROR'S CLOTHES. The three-year-old scored with more to spare than the winning margin suggests on her handicap debut over 1m2f at Chepstow and this step up in trip could spark further improvement, so a 5lb rise may not halt her. Robusto rates the best of the rest.
KYLE OF LOCHALSH was firmly on the up before an excusable run in testing ground at Newbury a couple of months ago, so he's worth a chance to resume progress. Recent Chepstow winner Emperor's Clothes is an obvious danger and Heathen is another one likely to bounce back to form under more favourable circumstances.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
