1st (3) (11/10 -10%) Niloufar |
11/10(-10%) | (3) Niloufar 11/10, Showed first form to get off the mark in 6-runner handicap (15/2) at Chelmsford City (8f) 27 days ago, staying on to lead final 1f. Hit with a 9 lb rise but remains unexposed. Good step forward when winning 1m handicap at Chelmsford last month; up 9lb but unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (8/1 -129%) Lightning Bay |
8/1(-129%) | (5) Lightning Bay 8/1, Produced his best effort to date in a first-time tongue strap when very good second of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 8 days ago. Solid chance in first-time cheekpieces. Better for a tongue-tie when 2nd at Wolverhampton last week; can do better; new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (16/5 -28%) Medician Star |
16/5(-28%) | (1) Medician Star 16/5, Down the field in maiden/minor events (all runs in less than a month) but no surprise if he shows a fair bit more now switched to a handicap. Gelded after three modest runs as a 2yo; new trip for handicap debut; more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 +50%) Meet Me In Meraki |
6/1(+50%) | (4) Meet Me In Meraki 6/1, Ran below form in a first-time tongue strap when sixth of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 25/1) 11 days ago. Unplaced in 9 starts but has hinted at ability; new trip a query but he's not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (66/1 -313%) Takeityouremine |
66/1(-313%) | (6) Takeityouremine 66/1, Poor maiden. 11/1, last of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 8 days ago. Overall record in unconvincing & there's been no progress for handicapping the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (9/1 +10%) Running Deal |
9/1(+10%) | (2) Running Deal 9/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 11 in minor event at this course (7f, AW, 28/1). Off 101 days. Makes handicap debut and sizeable step forward required. Minor form in three 7f runs in late 2023; potential improver now handicapping over further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (20/1 -25%) Tejesueno |
20/1(-25%) | (7) Tejesueno 20/1, Poor maiden. Seventh of 11 in handicap (18/1) at Kempton (8f) 56 days ago. No progress for the step up to 1m at Kempton eight weeks ago; others look safer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
NILOUFAR was able to make an immediate impact upon her switch to handicaps and when stepped up to the mile at Chelmsford last month, in a race that has worked out well. Although a 9lb hike in the ratings will ask more of her, she is unlikely to have reached the ceiling of her ability and is taken to repeat the dose. Medician Star does not look overburdened by an opening mark of 56 and he must feature prominently in calculations, along with Lightning Bay, who hit the woodwork at Wolverhampton eight days ago and could improve for the addition of first-time cheekpieces.
NILOUFAR ran out a cosy winner at Chelmsford last month and could be up to defying a 9 lb rise with that form working out better than expected. Lightning Bay and handicap-debutant Medician Star head the dangers.
Lightning Bay may take another step forward but NILOUFAR is fancied to make it 2-2 in handicaps.

18/1(+28%) | (13) Lady Wingalong 18/1, Last of 13 in handicap at Thurles (8f, soft, 80/1). Off 6 months. Makes polytrack debut. First run for yard after leaving Edmond Kent. Not easy to make a case for. Low-level form in Ireland but a whiff of promise & David Evans could unlock any potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 -13%) Ballybaymoonshiner |
9/2(-13%) | (3) Ballybaymoonshiner 9/2, Wasted no time getting back to form when winning 8-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (7f, 7/2) 41 days ago, finding extra. Not taken lightly in follow-up bid. 2-3 this year & won with more authority than the neck margin suggests latest; good claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (18/1 -50%) Regal Glory |
18/1(-50%) | (12) Regal Glory 18/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2022, though not disgraced when fifth of 11 in minor event at this course (8f, AW) 51 days ago. C&D winner; running okay this year without suggesting a second win was imminent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/2 -10%) Kondratiev Wave |
11/2(-10%) | (6) Kondratiev Wave 11/2, Course winner. Twenty one runs since last win in 2021. Good second of 7 in handicap (5/1) at this course (8f, AW) 47 days ago. Not one to write off. Best effort for a while when second over 1m here seven weeks ago; should make a bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (14/1 -17%) Kodi Noir |
14/1(-17%) | (8) Kodi Noir 14/1, Isn't one to trust but wasn't seen to best effect when tenth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 22 days ago, finishing with running left. Yet to shine in two runs for this yard but he's slipped to a dangerous mark; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (10/1 +17%) No Turning Back |
10/1(+17%) | (10) No Turning Back 10/1, Went backwards from reappearance when seventh of 9 in C&D handicap (AW, 11/1) 19 days ago. Blinkers on for 1st time. 0-13 but effective here and has shown clear winning potential; blinkers now tried; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (16/1 -14%) Ajrad |
16/1(-14%) | (11) Ajrad 16/1, C&D winner who was too free in a first-time visor when sixth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (AW) 19 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. C&D win off this mark in January; less good in three runs since; others look safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (5/1 +17%) Hul Ah Bah Loo |
5/1(+17%) | (1) Hul Ah Bah Loo 5/1, Course winner. 12/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at this course (8f, AW) 19 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Not dismissed. 6lb lower than for his 1m win here in November; will appreciate the big drop in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (14/1 -155%) Mashaan |
14/1(-155%) | (5) Mashaan 14/1, C&D winner. Last of 9 in handicap at Chepstow (5.1f, good to firm, 20/1), unsuited by drop in trip. Off 10 months. Rejoined yard after leaving Shaun Lycett and has been given a big chance by the assessor. Thrown in on his 2022 form for this yard; absent 313 days but of major interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (22/1 -38%) River Wharfe |
22/1(-38%) | (9) River Wharfe 22/1, C&D winner who proved to be a disappointment when down the field in minor event at Southwell (8.1f, 9/2) 27 days ago. More miss than hit this winter; drawn widest and others bring more compelling claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (20/1 -100%) Hold The Press |
20/1(-100%) | (7) Hold The Press 20/1, C&D winner who found his run of good form coming to a halt when down the field in minor event at this course (8f, AW) 51 days ago. Bounce back required. C&D win (beat No Turning Back) in Sept; two good runs here this year; below par latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (4) (11/1 -10%) Hombre |
11/1(-10%) | (4) Hombre 11/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, bit below form when fifth of 12 in handicap (17/2) at Southwell (7.1f) 10 days ago, running on. Modest seven-race maiden who hasn't progressed for the switch to handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (2) (11/2 +45%) Dulcet Spirit |
11/2(+45%) | (2) Dulcet Spirit 11/2, C&D winner who ran below form when seventh of 12 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 52 days ago. C&D winner; fair 5th here in February; below par last time but can't ignore at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (14) (80/1 -100%) Arnie Angell |
80/1(-100%) | (14) Arnie Angell 80/1, 28/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, last of 8 in minor event at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 81 days ago, very slowly away. Makes polytrack debut. First run for yard after leaving Michael Herrington. Limitations well established over shorter; too much to prove starting out for new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
An open event in which only a tentative vote can go to Brett Johnson's DULCET SPIRIT. The Invincible Spirit mare was unable to trouble the judge over 6f at Kempton last time but the return to further will suit and, from a competitive mark, it would come as no surprise were she to mount a stern challenge. Kondratiev Wave finished a good second on his latest outing and must enter the reckoning from an unchanged rating, while Ballybaymoonshiner, who looks to record a third success from his last four starts, is also noted.
A chance is taken on MASHAAN, who has a 10-month absence to overcome but has been given a big chance by the handicapper on first start back with his former yard. Ballybaymoonshiner is respected in his follow-up bid, with Hul Ah Bah Loo another not to take lightly, especially with a strong pace forecast.
Mashaan is potentially thrown in back with Alice Haynes but the in-form BALLYBAYMOONSHINER (nap) looks the safer option today.

The Sky Is Blue |
(6) (40/1 -300%)40/1(-300%) | (6) The Sky Is Blue 40/1, Down the field in minor event/maidens but not one to write off making handicap debut from a basement mark. Poor form in three runs over further; sprinting may prove more suitable and this is weak. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) (13/8 -8%) Unavailable |
13/8(-8%) | (1) Unavailable 13/8, Showed improved form to get off the mark in first-time cheekpieces in 11-runner handicap at this course (6f, AW) 5 days ago, easily. Obvious claims under a penalty. Made all over 6f here last week; penalty/drop to 5f shouldn't prevent another big run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (3/1 +14%) Restricted |
3/1(+14%) | (5) Restricted 3/1, Modest maiden. Creditable fifth of 10 in handicap (8/1) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 37 days ago. Not beaten far in 6f h'caps last twice; drop to 5f can help; yard also runs Unavailable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (2/1 -6%) Justahunch |
2/1(-6%) | (2) Justahunch 2/1, Modest maiden who ran his best race in a first-time tongue strap on first run since leaving Darryll Holland when second of 11 in 5f handicap at Southwell 15 days ago, albeit no match for winner. Respected. Good 2nd to a handicap blot on his stable debut last month; major player off the same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (16/1 +52%) Snow Boots |
16/1(+52%) | (3) Snow Boots 16/1, No better than mid-field in varied events. Poor form since switched to handicaps; plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (20/1 -25%) Kohana Girl |
20/1(-25%) | (4) Kohana Girl 20/1, Looks limited on early evidence. Makes handicap debut after 95-day absence. Huge prices & well held in 3 sprint runs thus far; more realistic assignment now at least. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Dylan Cunha has enjoyed a fruitful start to the new season and JUSTAHUNCH could provide the Newmarket handler with further success. The three-year-old found only a well-supported favourite too strong at Southwell last month and, from an unchanged mark, he can go one better. Unavailable must shoulder a penalty having been on target over 6f here five days ago and she remains of significant interest, while handicap debutant Kohana Girl might prove best of the remainder.
UNAVAILABLE showed improved form when easily making all in an 11-runner handicap here last week and is a straightforward choice to follow up under a penalty. Justahunch made a good start for his new yard when runner-up at Southwell recently and is considered the main threat.
Unavailable is a big player after her breakthrough recent win but JUSTAHUNCH looks a viable alternative after a good stable debut.

2/1(-6%) | (11) Golden Path 2/1, Golden Horn filly who shaped well when fourth of 12 in maiden at this course (8f, AW) on debut 34 days ago, not knocked about. Up in trip. Sure to improve. Promising fourth over 1m here last month; longer trip should suit; lots more to come. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (6/1 -9%) Roger Henry |
6/1(-9%) | (2) Roger Henry 6/1, Went backwards from debut when ninth of 12 in maiden (7/2) at this course (8f, AW) 34 days ago. Possibly found that coming too soon and can be given another chance to build on debut effort up in trip. Two runs at 1m, failing to confirm debut promise when 9th here latest; new trip; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (80/1 -60%) Sylvan Spirit |
80/1(-60%) | (9) Sylvan Spirit 80/1, Showed only greenness when ninth of 11 in maiden (66/1) at Southwell (8.1f) on debut 20 days ago. Up in trip. 66-1 and always in rear on last month's Southwell debut (1m); longer-term prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (28/1 -40%) Ronnie Raven |
28/1(-40%) | (5) Ronnie Raven 28/1, Twice-raced gelding. 12/1, tenth of 14 in minor event at Chelmsford City (10f). Off 118 days. Only modest form in two 1m2f AW runs in late 2023; longer-term prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (9/2 +50%) Wannabeawallaby |
9/2(+50%) | (7) Wannabeawallaby 9/2, Looked one for the longer term when sixth of 9 in minor event at this course (8f, AW, 9/1) on debut. Off 112 days. Up in trip. Promise amidst inexperience over 1m here in December; bred for this longer trip; unexposed. |

11/1(-83%) | (6) Jorgio J 11/1, €11,000 yearling, Zoustar gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners in France, including 2-y-o 9f winner Vienne and 2-y-o 8.5f winner Infinite Cheers. Wears blinkers. 11,000euros half-brother to 4 winners in France; blinkered for debut; likely best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
GOLDEN PATH put in a promising display when fourth on her debut over a mile here last month and the daughter of Golden Horn could be hard to beat with the benefit of that experience. Roger Henry was behind the selection on that occasion but showed more on his racecourse bow, and it is far too soon to be writing him off. Jorgio J and Machete Beach are both noteworthy newcomers.
GOLDEN PATH caught the eye finishing well on her debut here last month and, with the step up in trip sure to suit, she's a confident selection to get off the mark at the second time of asking. Roger Henry is worth another chance to build on his debut effort, with Clara Barton pick of the newcomers before market clues.
Wannabeawallaby and GOLDEN PATH both ran well over 1m here on debut and can step forward now upped in trip.

1st (1) (15/2 +38%) Legal Reform |
15/2(+38%) | (1) Legal Reform 15/2, Three wins from 8 runs last year. Bit below form seventh of 12 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f, 22/1) 31 days ago, slowly away. Should strip fitter with that under his belt. Usual hood left off. C&D winner; ended 2023 in good form and he should be sharper for last month's return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (4/1 +0%) Sandy Paradise |
4/1(+0%) | (4) Sandy Paradise 4/1, Represents a yard in rude health and, equipped with first-time blinkers (retained here) finished good second of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 11 days ago. Expected to be bang there. Banging at the door and did best of those held up at Wolverhampton latest; good chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 +68%) King Cabo |
9/2(+68%) | (3) King Cabo 9/2, Rewarded for string of consistent efforts when back on the scoreboard at Kempton (7f) in September. Returned with a good third over 6f here in February but hasn't scaled same heights in trio of starts since, seventh of 9 in handicap (11/1) at Kempton (7f) 7 days ago. On a winning mark and return to Class 4 company will help; not solid but can't rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (9/2 -50%) Counsel |
9/2(-50%) | (6) Counsel 9/2, Bright start for new yard, looking as good as ever when landing C&D handicap in January prior to a good second at Southwell (7f) later that month, possibly overdoing forcing tactics. Needs considering back from a break. Two good runs, including a C&D win, for new yard; should remain competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (16/1 -113%) Torchlight |
16/1(-113%) | (2) Torchlight 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Seventh of 10 in handicap (9/1) at Newcastle (8f) 33 days ago, weakening final 1f having possibly found the race coming too soon. Cheekpieces go on now and it's too soon to be writing him off. She hasn't run badly in either run for new yard but new cheekpieces need to prompt more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (9/1 -20%) Thapa Vc |
9/1(-20%) | (9) Thapa Vc 9/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 12 runs last year. Respectable fifth of 11 in handicap (11/2) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 11 days ago, left poorly placed. Tongue strap back on. 2lb lower than for his C&D win in December; work to do with Sandy Paradise on latest run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (25/1 -79%) Granary Queen |
25/1(-79%) | (10) Granary Queen 25/1, Course winner. Latest win at Kempton in December. 25/1, creditable eighth of 13 in handicap at this C&D (AW) 12 days ago, never nearer. Entitled to strip fitter given that was her first start for 4 months and each-way claims. Conditions fine and she shaped okay on her return here on Good Friday; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (28/1 -133%) Musical Mystery |
28/1(-133%) | (7) Musical Mystery 28/1, Resurgent upon joining present yard last summer, gaining third success from first 4 starts at Chelmsford (7f) in November. Found run of good form coming to a halt over C&D in December but no surprise to see him bounce back following 4 months off. Conditions to suit and still feasibly treated; first run since December but not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (7/2 -17%) Dembe |
7/2(-17%) | (8) Dembe 7/2, Course winner. First run since leaving Brett Johnson when creditable second of 13 in handicap (15/8) at Kempton (8f) 9 days ago, still plenty to do 2f out and running on. Effective at this shorter trip and he's one to bear in mind. On losing run but he's been in fair form this year; will need a good pace dropped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (50/1 -100%) Blue Yonder |
50/1(-100%) | (5) Blue Yonder 50/1, Refound consistency for fitting of a visor, winning at Newcastle in December and followed up here (10f) in January on final start for Richard Fahey. Not in same form in couple of starts for new yard and the headgear again left off. Well held in two 7f runs for current yard; will be of more interest when back over further. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SANDY PARADISE has been running well in defeat of late and was a close second over 7f at Wolverhampton 11 days ago. Off the same mark here, it would be no surprise to see the five-year-old go one better. Counsel won over C&D two starts ago and was not disgraced when runner-up last time, while Dembe edges out Thapa VC to be best of the rest.
DEMBE is undoubtedly lurking on a handy mark and not for the first time this year caught the eye when runner-up at Kempton (1m) for his new yard 9 days ago. He'll likely need the breaks dropping back 1f but could just be worth chancing in a race where they could well go a decent clip. Thapa Vc, Sandy Paradise and Counsel are others worthy of a second look in a competitive race.
Sandy Paradise and Counsel can go well but top-weight LEGAL REFORM could leave last month's reappearance behind him.

1st (7) (12/1 -60%) Watermelon Sugar |
12/1(-60%) | (7) Watermelon Sugar 12/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Seventh of 8 in handicap (28/1) at Kempton (6f) 5 weeks ago, possibly needing the run on the back of 7 months off. Mark has fallen plenty and one to note if the market speaks in his favour. Dropped a long way in the weights and sharper for last month's return; betting can guide. |

2nd (6) (9/1 -64%) Thismydream |
9/1(-64%) | (6) Thismydream 9/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in March. Respectable sixth of 12 in handicap (5/1) at Chelmsford City (5f) 12 days ago. No forlorn hope back up in trip. Just 2 wins from 40 starts and not at best last time; other pace to contend with today too. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/2 +13%) Mick's Spirit |
7/2(+13%) | (2) Mick's Spirit 7/2, 6-time course winner, latterly bagging pair of 5f events in February 9 days apart. Not at best when fifth of 9 in handicap (11/4) at Chelmsford City (5f) 27 days ago but return to this venue may well help. Six-time course winner but disappointed last time and 6f is a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (13/8 -17%) Jungle Charm |
13/8(-17%) | (1) Jungle Charm 13/8, Lightly-raced filly who showed improved form to take her career record to 2-4 when winning 7-runner C&D handicap 6 days ago. Escapes a penalty for that success and lots to like once more from inside draw. Unpenalised for last week's C&D win and she's not exposed yet; obvious claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (12/1 -60%) Lilkian |
12/1(-60%) | (4) Lilkian 12/1, 4-time C&D winner. Latest win here in October. Seventh of 10 in handicap (10/1) at this C&D (AW) 19 days ago. Others have achieved more. C&D winner off 2lb higher in October; quiet this year but revival not out of the question. |

6th (8) (14/1 -56%) Recon Mission |
14/1(-56%) | (8) Recon Mission 14/1, Course winner. Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. 9/1, tenth of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f) 12 days ago, fading final 1f. Hood/tongue tie now reached for. Down in weights and effective over C&D but 2024 efforts don't suggest he's the answer here. |

7th (5) (7/1 +30%) Brunel Charm |
7/1(+30%) | (5) Brunel Charm 7/1, Course winner. Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. 25/1, seventh of 10 in handicap at this course (8f, AW) 19 days ago. Down in trip. Others more persuasive. On a good mark now but the drop to a sharp 6f isn't sure to be in his favour. |

8th (3) (9/1 +10%) Secret Handsheikh |
9/1(+10%) | (3) Secret Handsheikh 9/1, Latest win at Brighton (5.2f) in September. 18/1, shaped as if needing the run following 6 months off when ninth of 10 in a C&D handicap 3 weeks ago but she remains 4 lb above last winning mark. Should be sharper for last month's return but others appeal as being better handicapped. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Lilkian is a four-time C&D winner who has to be feared back at his favourite venue off 2lb below his last winning mark, while Mick's Spirit also rates a big player at this level despite his best form being posted over the minimum trip. However, JUNGLE CHARM has far more untapped potential and, having shown determination to land a C&D apprentice race last week, Archie Watson's filly is a highly appealing option off the same mark, with Luke Morris taking over in the saddle.
Low-mileage filly JUNGLE CHARM escapes a penalty for her C&D success 6 days ago and could well be the answer from a handy draw with further progress certainly not out of the question following just 4 career starts. Thismydream and Mick's Spirit are others to consider.
Most of these have something to prove but the unexposed and unpenalised C&D winner JUNGLE CHARM is a notable exception.

1st (8) (9/2 +10%) Capstan |
9/2(+10%) | (8) Capstan 9/2, Has come down a long way in the weights and justified market support to shed maiden tag over C&D in January. Followed up with something to spare at Kempton (11f) the following month and further 5 lb rise shouldn't prevent a bold bid to land the hat-trick. No joy on first 13 starts but then won over C&D and at Kempton; another bold show likely. |

2nd (1) (20/1 +20%) Rocha Do Leao |
20/1(+20%) | (1) Rocha Do Leao 20/1, 18/1 and visored for 1st time, seventh of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (10.2f) 16 days ago, weakening final 1f. That was her first start for 5 months and this ought to reveal more with blinkers now the headgear of choice. Beaten 9l or more in her three handicaps (1m4f, 1m and 1m2f); visored latest, now blinkers. |

3rd (7) (11/2 +0%) Geelong |
11/2(+0%) | (7) Geelong 11/2, Latest win at Windsor in October. Good second of 6 in handicap (7/4) at Newcastle (12.4f) 18 days ago, running on. Largely consistent sort who should go well again. Won twice last autumn and has continued in good form; shouldn't be far away. |

4th (2) (10/1 -43%) Tiger Beetle |
10/1(-43%) | (2) Tiger Beetle 10/1, Back-to-back winner at Wolverhampton (9.5f) during the winter and plenty of good efforts in defeat subsequently. Rare below par display when ninth of 10 in handicap back at that venue 11 days ago but he's a likely type to bounce back. Running respectably until a disappointing show 11 days ago (favourite, raced wide). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/2 -22%) Hill Station |
11/2(-22%) | (6) Hill Station 11/2, C&D winner. Three wins from 11 runs last year. Career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f, 9/2) 9 days ago, well positioned. Should go well again under a penalty. Four AW wins since October, including one over C&D and also at Wolverhampton nine days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (11/4 -10%) Tortured Soul |
11/4(-10%) | (5) Tortured Soul 11/4, Real success story for his yard, gaining his sixth success since December at Kempton (12f) March. Not seen to anything like best effect when fifth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (12.1f, evens) 20 days ago, needing stronger gallop and he remains one to be interested in. Won six of his first seven outings for this yard and not discredited on latest start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (18/1 -29%) Boasty |
18/1(-29%) | (3) Boasty 18/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in March. Seventh of 10 in handicap back there (9.5f) 11 days ago, finding things that bit tougher on the back of a 3 lb rise. Back up in trip now. Recent 9.4f Wolverhampton winner, also second there in November on a rare outing at 1m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (7/1 +30%) Bloomwithgrace |
7/1(+30%) | (4) Bloomwithgrace 7/1, Maiden who ran creditably on the back of a 13-week break when fifth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (11f) 49 days ago, well positioned and having every chance. This even longer trip may help. 0-12; ran respectably on last two outings but she needs a bit better than that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (12/1 -118%) Restorer |
12/1(-118%) | (9) Restorer 12/1, Firmly in to the veteran stage but never been lower in the weights and he ran in a more trul-run affair when finishing a head second of 11 to Tortured Soul in handicap at this C&D (AW) 34 days ago, clear of rest. Likely to be thereabouts. Head 2nd to Tortured Soul over C&D latest; has to be considered seriously each-way. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having made all over a furlong shorter at Kempton when last seen, the hat-trick seeking CAPSTAN can extend his winning run, with the return to 1m4f very much in his favour. Even off a 5lb higher mark, the selection, a C&D winner on his penultimate start, still has room to move based on back form and appeals strongly given his proven effectiveness on Polytrack. Wolverhampton scorer Hill Station is respected under a 5lb penalty, although Tortured Soul is closely matched with that rival and also rates a solid each-way player.
TORTURED SOUL has proved a real success story on all-weather in recent months, gaining his sixth victory since joining Tony Carroll at Kempton in March and not looking at all suited by how the way the race developed when having his winning run ended at Southwell 3 weeks ago. He gets the narrow vote to come out on top again, with the hat-trick seeking Capstan, Restorer and Hill Station heading up the dangers in a competitive finale.
Tortured Soul, Hill Station and Geelong need major respect, but CAPSTAN has got on a roll and may complete his hat-trick.
Ths is the racecard key.
