1st (11) (10/1 +50%) Galon De Vauzelle |
10/1(+50%) | (11) Galon De Vauzelle 10/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. 25/1, didn't jump well enough when pulled up in handicap chase at Cheltenham (25f, soft) just under 6 weeks ago, struggling when bad mistake 4 out. Blinkers on 1st time. Third in this last year, runner-up four times this year but pulled up on last two starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (14) (11/1 +56%) Soloman Lane |
11/1(+56%) | (14) Soloman Lane 11/1, 11/1, followed a good run with a below-par one when tenth of 14 in handicap chase at Down Royal (24f, soft) 48 days ago, labouring badly long way out. 3lb higher than when winning at Punchestown in January, good run on his penultimate start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (10/1 +0%) Harvey's Quay |
10/1(+0%) | (7) Harvey's Quay 10/1, Latest win in chase at Listowel in September. Below form when ninth of 14 in handicap chase (8/1) at Down Royal (24f, soft) 48 days ago. Needs to rebound from disappointing Down Royal run, previously won over 3m at Listowel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (4/1 -14%) Sweet Will |
4/1(-14%) | (6) Sweet Will 4/1, Fairly useful winner at 3m over hurdles. Hooded for 1st time/tongue strap on for 1st time, first run since leaving Gavin Patrick Cromwell when second of 9 in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (21.5f, soft, 7/2) 27 days ago. In the mix with a repeat. Lost form with Gavin Cromwell, interesting now after a reassuring display at Fairyhouse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (10/1 +29%) Steppenwolf |
10/1(+29%) | (9) Steppenwolf 10/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Well-backed 3/1, third of 5 in handicap chase at Ludlow (16f, heavy) 23 days ago, one paced from 3 out. Significantly up in trip. One to consider. Seldom at his best this year, trainer appears to have a stronger candidate in Broken Ice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (25/1 -56%) Temptationinmilan |
25/1(-56%) | (1) Temptationinmilan 25/1, Let down by jumping back over fences when pulled up in handicap at Fairyhouse (24.3f, heavy, 20/1) 13 days ago. Tough to fancy after that. A long way below last season's good standard of form on his first two starts this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (12/1 -9%) Lake Chad |
12/1(-9%) | (12) Lake Chad 12/1, Twenty-one runs since last win in 2022. Good second of 14 in handicap chase at Thurles (18.4f, soft, 10/1) 36 days ago, leading briefly between last 2. Can feature. 1-15 record over fences is off-putting but consistent enough to be given a leading chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (11/1 -22%) Paidi's Passion |
11/1(-22%) | (2) Paidi's Passion 11/1, 3 wins from 8 runs this season, latest in hurdle at Tramore in October. 9/1, bit below form fifth of 9 in handicap chase at Down Royal (16.4f, soft) 7 weeks ago. Back up in trip. Won three in a row (two over hurdles) before being well beaten on her handicap chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (9/1 +0%) Broken Ice |
9/1(+0%) | (10) Broken Ice 9/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Creditable second of 9 in handicap chase (9/2) at Fairyhouse (24.3f, heavy) 5 weeks ago, keeping on when not fluent last. Respected. Best form indicates a preference for better ground, 9l second on testing going on latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (15) (4/1 +67%) Nephin Beg |
4/1(+67%) | (15) Nephin Beg 4/1, Fair winner at 2½m over hurdles. 16/1, third of 15 in beginners chase at Tramore (21.4f, soft) 31 days ago. Makes handicap chase debut. Won a handicap hurdle off 99 last season, opening mark of 102 gives him a fighting chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (11/2 +39%) Archies Charm |
11/2(+39%) | (3) Archies Charm 11/2, 11/2, probably remained in form when fifth of 10 in handicap chase at Musselburgh (23.6f, soft) 29 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Needs to step up on recent form, 13l second in this race last year, tried with blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (80/1 +0%) Serenity Grove |
80/1(+0%) | (5) Serenity Grove 80/1, Fairly useful winner at 19f over hurdles. 40/1, pulled up 4 out in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (17f, soft) 11 months ago. Up in trip. First run for yard after leaving Henry de Bromhead. Regressive for Henry de Bromhead, should be better for last month's point-to-point run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
PAIDI'S PASSION may be able to pick up the winning thread again here. Two miles looked on the short side for the Ocovango mare at Down Royal last month and she should be better suited by this kind of trip. She had rattled off a hat-trick previously, including an impressive win over fences at Ballinrobe, and seems versatile ground-wise having won on good and heavy going. Sweet Will ran well on his first outing for Emmet Mullins at Fairyhouse last month when losing out by half a length to So Des Flos. He's a danger if repeating that effort. Lake Chad is a consistent, if slightly frustrating, sort and could be place material.
Several in with chances but it could pay to side with SWEET WILL, who bounced back to form on first outing for Emmet Mullins when finishing runner-up at Fairyhouse last month and a repeat could well be enough to go a place better. The Gavin Cromwell-trained pair Broken Ice and Steppenwolf are put forward as the main dangers, with the consistent Lake Chad another worthy of a mention.
Now that SWEET WILL has shown signs of a return to form he has good prospects of exploiting a mark 10lb below his hurdles mark

1st (2) (2/9 +61%) Ballyburn |
2/9(+61%) | (2) Ballyburn 2/9, Highly promising individual. 10/11, second of 24 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) on hurdles bow 27 days ago, clear of rest. Potentially a smart novice and will prove hard to beat with this step up in trip expected to be in his favour. Point and dual bumper winner; clear of the rest when second to Firefox on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (6/1 -33%) Cleatus Poolaw |
6/1(-33%) | (3) Cleatus Poolaw 6/1, Promising sort. Second of 15 in novice hurdle (3/1) at Thurles (16.5f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 29 days ago. Up in trip and likely to improve. Engaged 12.55 Limerick Thursday. Looks up to winning a maiden at this trip but Ballyburn sets a high standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 +11%) Apple's Of Bresil |
4/1(+11%) | (1) Apple's Of Bresil 4/1, Twice-raced maiden. Third of 7 in bumper (2/1) at Navan (16f, heavy) 41 days ago. Well adrift of Ballyburn on debut at Punchestown in April. Improvement needed now switched to hurdles but certainly not without an each-way chance. The form of his bumper third at Navan is working out; not one to be underestimated. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (33/1 -65%) Saddle Her Up |
33/1(-65%) | (8) Saddle Her Up 33/1, Thrice-raced maiden under Rules. Second of 10 in novice hurdle at Galway (16f, heavy, 50/1) 61 days ago. Up in trip and live each-way chance if able to build on that. From the front she ran a nice race at Galway but this is a much stronger maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (125/1 -25%) Cloughroe |
125/1(-25%) | (4) Cloughroe 125/1, Thrice-raced maiden under Rules. First run since leaving Denis Quinn when twelfth of 14 in novice hurdle at Naas (18.9f, soft, 100/1) on hurdles bow 47 days ago. Has shown ability but likely to be outclassed in this good a maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (150/1 -50%) Laurie Blue |
150/1(-50%) | (7) Laurie Blue 150/1, £40,000 4-y-o, Court Cave mare. Closely related to poor hurdler The Lion Man. Dam maiden hurdler. Runner-up sole start in points back in April 2022. Probably best watched on Rules debut. Bought for £40,000 soon after finishing second in a point back in April 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (9) (100/1 +0%) Tell Me This |
100/1(+0%) | (9) Tell Me This 100/1, Ask mare. Half-sister to fairly useful hurdler Oneupmanship, stays 3m, and fair chaser Home Place. Dam unraced. Failed to complete all 3 starts between the flags. Fell in all three points and could have been found an easier starting point over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (16/1 +20%) Coming Up Easy |
16/1(+20%) | (5) Coming Up Easy 16/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. 20/1, seventh of 16 in novice hurdle at Navan (20f, heavy) on hurdles bow 41 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Should progress and yard has saddled the winner of this maiden 5 times since 2012. Shown promise but needs to raise his game to keep up with the pick of these. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BALLYBURN looks hard to oppose on his second start over timber. The Flemensfirth gelding looked very smart when winning two bumpers last season. He had to settle for second on his jumping debut at Fairyhouse earlier in the month but chased home a well regarded sort in Firefox then and with natural improvement should collect now. Apple's Of Bresil is a nice sort and could be the one to give the selection most to do. He was behind Ballyburn in a bumper at Punchestown in April and stepped forward nicely when third in a tight finish to Springt De La Mare at Navan on his return. Saddle Her Up ran a big race, at a big price, when second at Galway in late October and can pick up prize-money again.
It's hard to look beyond BALLYBURN, who achieved a smart level of form in bumpers last season and pulled clear of the rest when chasing home a highly promising novice in Firefox on his hurdles debut at Fairyhouse. With Cleatus Poolaw due to run at Limerick on Thursday, Coming Up Easy, who represents a yard that has made a habit of winning this race in recent years, and Saddle Her Up are taken to fill the places.
With no Firefox to worry about this looks a golden opportunity for BALLYBURN to go one better than at Fairyhouse.

1st (6) (5/2 +38%) Jetara |
5/2(+38%) | (6) Jetara 5/2, Useful hurdler. 2 wins from 3 runs this season. 2/1, career best when winning 6-runner listed hurdle at Punchestown (19.2f, heavy) 17 days ago by 6 lengths from A Penny A Hundred, going clear. Each-way chance. Has taken a while to make an impact over hurdles, feasible she can sustain upward curve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (28/1 +0%) Pink In The Park |
28/1(+0%) | (7) Pink In The Park 28/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Creditable 8½ lengths fifth of 9 to Birdie Or Bust in listed hurdle (11/1) at Thurles (15.9f, good to soft) 12 days ago. Back up in trip. Appears to be the outsider of the four trained by Willie Mullins. Won twice in early stages of the season but now looking quite limited, others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (13/8 +77%) Risk Belle |
13/8(+77%) | (2) Risk Belle 13/8, Useful hurdler. 7/4, career best when winning 6-runner Mullinan Hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) 27 days ago by 3½ lengths from Nusret, easily. Moving back up in trip shouldn't be an issue and she looks the pick of the Willie Mullins-trained quartet. Good handicap form as a juvenile, emphatic Grade 3 scorer on return, needs to jump better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (7/1 +50%) Telmesomethinggirl |
7/1(+50%) | (10) Telmesomethinggirl 7/1, Useful chaser. Below form 23¼ lengths third of 7 to Saint Sam in a Grade 3 chase (10/3) at Killarney (20f, good) when last seen 7 months ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Big chance if she fires on all cylinders. Cheltenham Festival winner in 2021, reverts to hurdling after five runs over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (7/1 +7%) Saylavee |
7/1(+7%) | (8) Saylavee 7/1, Useful hurdler. 10/1, good 1¾ lengths second of 6 to Hispanic Moon in listed mares event at Punchestown (18.2f, soft) 33 days ago. May well turn the tables with that rival here on these revised terms. Made an encouraging start to the season with Punchestown second behind Hispanic Moon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (6/1 +8%) Hispanic Moon |
6/1(+8%) | (5) Hispanic Moon 6/1, Useful chaser. First run since leaving David Cottin when winning 6-runner listed mares event (20/1) at Punchestown (18.2f, soft) by 1¾ lengths from Saylavee, driven out. Meets that rival on 4 lb worse terms here, though. One of 3 representing the Henry De Bromhead stable. French import, surprise winner on Irish debut, can uphold form with runner-up Saylavee. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (66/1 -100%) Double Pink |
66/1(-100%) | (4) Double Pink 66/1, Fair hurdler. 1 win from 3 runs this season. Career best when winning 5-runner minor event hurdle at Wexford (20f, heavy, 12/1) 42 days ago. Much more on her plate in this more exalted company. Took advantage when market principals flopped in 2m4f Wexford contest, up against it here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (18/1 -112%) Space Tourist |
18/1(-112%) | (3) Space Tourist 18/1, Useful hurdler. 3 wins from 5 runs this season. 6/4, career best when winning 6-runner listed mares event at Limerick (22.7f, heavy) 69 days ago by 4¾ lengths from Riviere D'etel. This is more demanding. Atoned for odds-on Listowel defeat when scoring at Limerick, Paul Townend deserts her. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
RISK BELLE impressed on her return this season and looks to have improved from last season. She beat some decent geldings in good style at Fairyhouse earlier in the month and Willie Mullins stated then that the experience she gained in handicap company last season has really stood to her. Jetara comes here seeking a hat-trick after a couple of impressive wins and looks an obvious danger. The well-bred Walk In The Park mare was a comprehensive winner in Listed company last time and like the selection is fairly experienced at this stage. Hispanic Moon had plenty of runs in France before winning on her first start for Henry de Bromhead in a Listed contest at Punchestown last month. She's another that has to be on the shortlist.
Willie Mullins has saddled six of the last seven winners of this and RISK BELLE is taken to enhance that already impressive record. She looked an improved model when making a winning reappearance in a Grade 3 contest at Fairyhouse and probably has more to offer given her age and low mileage. The 4-y-o certainly won't have things all her own way, though, particularly if Telmesomethinggirl is anywhere near her best back hurdling. The latter's stablemate Magical Zoe also merits respect.
This looks open and it may be worth taking a chance on \MAGICAL ZOE\p, whose Down Royal second behind Irish Point is quite persuasive.

1st (5) (4/1 +0%) Grangeclare West |
4/1(+0%) | (5) Grangeclare West 4/1, Hasn't achieved as much as some of these over hurdles but has long appealed as the type to do even better in this sphere, a notion backed up by his impressive chase debut display at Naas (20f, soft). Likely to benefit from this stiffer test and he's a serious candidate. Career now back on track after disappointing novice hurdling campaign, jumped well at Naas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (13/8 +7%) Corbetts Cross |
13/8(+7%) | (1) Corbetts Cross 13/8, Quickly made up into a useful novice hurdler last season and promising third to Grangeclare West on return/chase debut at Naas last month. Confirmed that promise when scoring with a bit in hand at Fairyhouse (21.5f, soft) and further progress likely back up in trip here. Could manage only third behind Grangeclare West at Naas, ample reassurance at Fairyhouse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (3/1 -9%) Flooring Porter |
3/1(-9%) | (4) Flooring Porter 3/1, Top-notch staying hurdler who took well to fences when seeing off Broadway Boy (successful twice since) on chase debut at Cheltenham in October. Beaten 15¼ lengths when third in the Florida Pearl at Punchestown next time but will be much more at home back on a left-handed track. Top staying hurdler, good on chase debut, hung left when blotting copybook at Punchestown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (18/1 -13%) Flanking Maneuver |
18/1(-13%) | (3) Flanking Maneuver 18/1, Placed in graded events on first 2 starts over fences prior to landing a maiden chase in good style at Fairyhouse in October. Likely to win more races in this sphere but he's up against some potentially very smart staying novices here. Obtained experience in Graded races last term, got new campaign off to a bright start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (3/1 +14%) Favori De Champdou |
3/1(+14%) | (2) Favori De Champdou 3/1, Winner of 3 of his 6 starts over hurdles and good start over fences when second to Affordale Fury at Galway in October. Big step forward when winning the Florida Pearl at Punchestown (24f, soft) next time with Flooring Porter back in third. Remains open to improvement in this sphere. Impressed in winning Grade 2 event at Punchestown, no stamina doubts, ground suitable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (300/1 -50%) Tullyhogue Fort |
300/1(-50%) | (6) Tullyhogue Fort 300/1, By far the most exposed of these over fences and he's punching well above his weight at this level. 95-rated handicapper, 1-10 over fences, completely out of his depth. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A real test of stamina should bring out the best in CORBETTS CROSS and he can strike at the top level here. The Gamut gelding had the class to win over the minimum trip as a novice hurdler but has always shaped like a real stayer. He improved from his initial outing over fences to run out a cosy winner at Fairyhouse earlier in the month and going up again in distance will help. Grangeclare West beat the selection at Naas on their seasonal debuts and is a classy sort when right. The ground here would be a slight concern though over this trip. Flooring Porter threw away his chance when jumping badly left at Punchestown last month. He's much more at home going this way around and is fancied to turn the tables on Favori De Champdou. The former top staying hurdler obviously commands plenty of respect.
FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU produced a flawless round of jumping when landing the Florida Pearl in fine style at Punchestown last month, and he is taken to provide trainer Gordon Elliott with a sixth win in this Grade 1 contest. Corbetts Cross and Grangeclare West are both potentially smart novices, too, while former top staying hurdler Flooring Porter is also feared now back on a left-handed track after hanging badly left when third to the selection at Punchestown.
This test of stamina should suit CORBETTS CROSS (nap) who has garnered confidence and experience since his chasing debut at Naas.

1st (3) (4/7 -14%) State Man |
4/7(-14%) | (3) State Man 4/7, No match for Constitution Hill in last season's Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham but that's his only defeat in his last 9 starts, winning a second successive Morgiana at Punchestown last month. Will take all the beating. Beaten by Constitution Hill in the Champion Hurdle, very hard to fault his overall profile. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/4 +13%) Impaire Et Passe |
7/4(+13%) | (2) Impaire Et Passe 7/4, Unbeaten over hurdles last term, including victories in the Ballymore at Cheltenham (21f) and Grade 1 Champion Novice at Punchestown (19f). Shaped well in defeat when length second of 5 to Teahuppoo in Hatton's Grace at Fairyhouse (2½m) on reappearance 26 days ago. Should be fine back at 2m. Top-class novice over further than this last season; tough task against State Man. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (18/1 -80%) Echoes In Rain |
18/1(-80%) | (4) Echoes In Rain 18/1, Smart hurdler. Six wins from 16 NH runs. 5 lengths second of 4 to State Man in Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown (16.7f, soft, 7/1) 34 days ago, no match for winner. Hard to see her turning the tables. Has an edge over Fils D'Oudairies on running behind State Man in the Morgiana. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (28/1 +58%) Fils D'oudairies |
28/1(+58%) | (1) Fils D'oudairies 28/1, Smart hurdler. Three wins in the first half of the season, including 2 Grade 2s, but 8½ lengths behind State Man in the Morgiana at Punchestown. Admirable sort but likely to struggle in the company of three Mullins-trained runners. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Willie Mullins has a phenomenal roll of honour in this Grade 1 having landed nine of the last 11 renewals, and looks poised for another victory as he saddles three of the four runners. Last year's hero STATE MAN comes back for more and is hard to go past. He looked as good as ever on his seasonal reappearance in the Grade 1 Morgiana at Punchestown as he put his head down and readily galloped home. He has won six Grade 1 contests and the only horse to beat him at the top level is the mighty Constitution Hill. State Man's stablemate, Impaire Et Passe, is an interesting contender dropping in trip. He has two Grade 1 victories in his locker and wasn't beaten far into second over further in the Hatton's Grace at Fairyhouse on his latest start. Echoes In Rain is a more than capable sort who is likely to be played late. She has five lengths to find with State Man who beat her into second in the Morgiana, though.
STATE MAN may not have been able to live with Constitution Hill in last season's Champion Hurdle but he's clear best of the rest in the 2m division and can land this for the second year running. Impaire Et Passe could be suited by the return to 2m and can give his stablemate most to do.
Last year's winner STATE MAN is likely to get a more serious test than on his reappearance but should cope with Impaire Et Passe.

12/1(-71%) | (9) Champagne Admiral 12/1, Didn't need to be at best when winning 14-runner novice hurdle at Limerick (16f, heavy, 6/5) 38 days ago, pushed out. Back up in trip for this handicap debut. Not without each-way hope. Progressive novice; could have got in lightly for handicap debut and one for the shortlist. |

2nd (5) (5/2 +9%) Waterford Whispers |
5/2(+9%) | (5) Waterford Whispers 5/2, Promising type. 4/1, won 11-runner novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (19.8f, soft) 27 days ago, suited by increase in trip. Remains unexposed and very much of interest on this handicap debut. Progressing well and the form of his Fairyhouse win received a major boost on Tuesday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (10/1 -200%) Yeats Star |
10/1(-200%) | (2) Yeats Star 10/1, Two wins from 6 runs this season. Career best when winning 10-runner handicap hurdle at Punchestown (16.7f, soft, 5/2) 34 days ago, all out. Further progress likely and merits respect in his bid to complete the hat-trick. Punchestown winner on handicap debut and effectively only 2lb higher for this. |

33/1(-18%) | (11) Quarry Rocco 33/1, Lightly-raced winner under Rules. Successful at Ballinrobe in August. 15/2, eighth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (16f, heavy) 48 days ago. Back up in trip. Maiden winner on yielding; offered little in two heavy-ground handicaps, at 3m and 2m. |

5th (10) (12/1 -20%) Petit King |
12/1(-20%) | (10) Petit King 12/1, Career best when winning 17-runner handicap hurdle (14/1) at Punchestown (19.2f, heavy) 17 days ago. More needed up 7 lb but he's a strong candidate all the same. Recent Punchestown winner; has to deal with a 7lb rise in stronger company this time. |

6th (12) (10/11 +94%) Linden Arden |
10/11(+94%) | (12) Linden Arden 10/11, Lightly-raced maiden under Rules. 4/1, bit below form fifth of 18 in novice hurdle at Tipperary (20.2f, soft). Makes handicap debut for new yard. Paul Townend prefers Mount Sinai. 0-5 but on one piece of form he could be very well handicapped now with Willie Mullins. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (33/1 -50%) Sportinthepark |
33/1(-50%) | (4) Sportinthepark 33/1, Thrice-raced winner under Rules. 89 lengths last of 11 to Waterford Whispers in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (19.8f, soft, 20/1) 27 days ago. Hood back on and clearly has work to do. Handicap debut. Wexford winner but then tailed off behind Waterford Whispers at Fairyhouse. |

8th (7) (18/1 -157%) Mount Sinai |
18/1(-157%) | (7) Mount Sinai 18/1, Lightly-raced winner under Rules. 25/1, 33¾ lengths fifth of 6 to Jetara in listed hurdle at Punchestown (19.2f, heavy) 17 days ago. Step forward needed now pitched into a handicap but she couldn't be in better hands. Lightly raced maiden winner and making her handicap debut for a leading yard. |

|F| (6) (14/1 +0%) Western Fold |
14/1(+0%) | (6) Western Fold 14/1, Lightly-raced winner under Rules. Creditable 15½ lengths fifth of 11 to Waterford Whispers in novice hurdle (8/1) at Fairyhouse (19.8f, soft) 27 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Raced a bit keenly when 15l off Waterford Whispers at Fairyhouse; may improve. |

SEQUESTERED couldn't land a blow in a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Cheltenham, but has prospects on his three previous performances. He won his maiden hurdle in Sligo before filling the runner-up berth behind a more than useful horse in Listowel. His victory in a Galway novice hurdle was well franked when the runner-up came out and won a good handicap in Clonmel. Waterford Whispers competes off a mark of 123 after victories in a Galway maiden hurdle and a rated novice hurdle in Fairyhouse. Trip and ground will be ideal for him. Yeats Star is another hat-trick seeker and tries this trip for the first time. He notably stretched clear by 13 lengths over an extended 2m1f at Downpatrick in October. Mount Sinai and Petit King are others to consider.
There should be more to come from WATERFORD WHISPERS, who was strong at the finish when landing a Fairyhouse novice upped to this trip at the beginning of the month and his opening mark looks fair. Must Go Now left his maiden form well behind when third of 15 on handicap debut at Thurles and he is next on the list ahead of the hat-trick seeking Yeats Star. Petit King is also worthy of consideration.
An interesting race and the market could shed plent of light. Willie Mullins may have recruited a well-treated horse in LINDEN ARDEN.

JALON D'OUDAIRIES carried a lofty reputation to the track and more than justified it in a decent bumper at Fairyhouse. He made 420,000 guineas at the Sales after a decisive point-to-point victory and connections would have been very heartened by the way he stayed on strongly to win by five lengths in Fairyhouse. He looks to have a bright future. Willie Mullins fields three horses with his son Patrick opting for Redemption Day. This Blue Bresil gelding has plenty of ability and ran a high-class horse to a length and a quarter when last seen finishing second in the Grade 1 bumper at the Punchestown Festival. He is a major threat. Luckinthecity put in decent late work to score in Listowel and the runner-up, Big Dee, came out and delivered in Down Royal so they both merit consideration.
REDEMPTION DAY hasn't been seen for 20 months but his top yard should have him ready and his second to Facile Vega in the Champion INH Flat Race at Punchestown is the standout piece of form, so he gets the nod. Jalon d'Oudairies is unbeaten in 2 (including a point) and looks the main danger ahead of Luckinthecity.
Redemption Day's form claims are crystal clear but on this demanding ground preference is for the well-regarded JALON D'OUDAIRIES.
Ths is the racecard key.
