1st (6) (5/6 +49%) Kaid D'authie |
5/6(+49%) | (6) Kaid D'authie 5/6, Promising sort. Fifth in a newcomers race in France at Auteuil in spring 2023. Backed as if defeat was out of the question (went off 1/3) but fell fifth in Navan maiden hurdle for new connections 20 months later. Evidently well regarded. 5th behind Majborough at Auteuil; fell on yard debut 3 weeks ago but was backed into 1-3F. |

8th (11) (40/1 +0%) Van Demon |
40/1(+0%) | (11) Van Demon 40/1, Fairly useful winner at 12f on flat. Little better than modest form in 2 hurdles but should have more to offer at some stage. Shown ability in maiden hurdles but wouldn't appear to be in same league as a few of these. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
KAID D'AUTHIE showed promise on debut behind Majborough in France last year and was backed as if defeat was out of the question on his first run since, when making the running until falling about halfway at Navan earlier this month. It will be interesting to see how strong stablemate Kalix Delabarriere is in the market having landed the odds in a Ballinrobe bumper that has worked out well, while Koktail Divin stays well and impressed when winning twice on the Flat in France. Sermandzarak also rates a serious threat having won the valuable Goffs Defender Bumper at the Punchestown Festival and he beat all bar Butch Cassidy on his hurdle debut over 2m3f at the same venue.
The strength behind KAID D'AUTHIE in the betting at Navan suggests he'd been giving the right signals at Closutton so he's taken to gain compensation, with confidence increased should the market speak in his favour again. Gordon Elliott's Sermandzarak made a promising start to his hurdle career at Punchestown and is second choice ahead of the other Willie Mullins runner Kalix Delabarriere.
The one to beat may be SERMANDZARAK (nap) who won a valuable Punchestown bumper and was only narrowly denied on last month's return

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
PORTARLINGTON has proved a great acquisition for current connections completing a hat-trick and was particularly impressive over this trip at Fairyhouse last time, with Ladiam over 12 lengths behind in third. Stay Gold caught the eye when finishing well on his handicap debut over 2m3f at Punchestown, while Giant Haystacks and point-to-point winner Lady Rose Hackett have also shown promise and have scope for further improvement. His Nibs steps up in trip on his handicap debut, while Aurea Fortuna, Jolie Jewel and Arch Enemy are others to consider.
A chance is taken on handicap newcomer LADY ROSE HACKETT for last year's winning trainer/jockey combination of Henry de Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore. His Nibbs is another who appeals as a likely improver in handicaps and also makes the shortlist along with the thriving Portarlington and the other de Bromhead runner Freddie Robdal.
It might be worth taking a flying on COZONE who is on his lowest mark for some time and should appreciate a return to further

15/2(-36%) | (6) Dee Capo 15/2, Useful hurdler. 18/1, running creditably when falling 2 out in novice chase at Navan (20.7f, soft) 21 days ago. Likely he will have a role to play if able to avoid any mishaps this time. Distant 4th to Ballyburn and running a big race before coming down in beginners' since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/1 -170%) Chapeau De Soleil |
9/1(-170%) | (5) Chapeau De Soleil 9/1, Useful hurdler. Career best when winning 23-runner handicap hurdle (16/1) at Punchestown (20.5f, soft) when last seen 7 months ago. Interesting to see how he shapes up in the betting ahead of this chase debut. Signed off last season with Listed h'cap hurdle win; interesting on chase debut/return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (8/11 +42%) Quai De Bourbon |
8/11(+42%) | (7) Quai De Bourbon 8/11, Useful hurdler. 8/11, career best when winning 6-runner novice hurdle at Ayr (20.4f, good to soft) on latest start in April. Paul Townend's pick of the Mullins trio and he's of significant interest swictehd to fences. 3rd in last year's Martin Pipe before novice hurdle win; gives impression he's a chaser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (20/1 -67%) Captain Cody |
20/1(-67%) | (4) Captain Cody 20/1, Useful hurdler. 4/1, fourth of 6 in novice chase at Tipperary (23.5f, soft) on debut over fences 36 days ago and he will be sharper this time. One of 3 representing the Willie Mullins yard. Grade 2 winner over timber and chase debut not without promise; Townend on Quai De Bourbon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (16/1 +20%) Anyway |
16/1(+20%) | (2) Anyway 16/1, Useful hurdler. 20¾ lengths fifth of 8 to Touch Me Not in Craddockstown Novices' Chase (100/1) at Punchestown (16.3f, good to soft) 34 days ago. Looks vulnerable for win purposes. Rated 135 over timber and promise in 2 of his 3 chase starts; big player down in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (5/1 -11%) An Tobar |
5/1(-11%) | (1) An Tobar 5/1, Lightly-raced winner over hurdles. Sixteenth of 21 in handicap hurdle at this course (16f, soft, 8/1). Off 10 months ahead of this chase debut. Maiden hurdle winner and Gr 1 3rd last term; ground quicker for chase debut; off 328 days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (18/1 -13%) Black Bamboo |
18/1(-13%) | (3) Black Bamboo 18/1, Useful hurdler. Good second of 10 in handicap hurdle (85/40) at Killarney (22.8f, good) 162 days ago. The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Willie Mullins holds a strong hand and riding arrangements suggest QUAI DE BOURBON is the pick of his three runners. The selection won three times over hurdles last season and was also placed on his only other start in the Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham Festival. Chapeau De Soleil has always been held in high regard and also won three times over hurdles last term, including landing a valuable handicap at the Punchestown Festival. An Tobar was impressive in winning his point-to-point and was placed in a Grade 1 over hurdles, while Captain Cody was a Grade 2 hurdle winner last season but didn't impress with his jumping when switching to fences at Tipperary last month.
QUAI DE BOURBON's sole defeat from four starts over hurdles last season came in the Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham Festival, a race in which he finished a very solid third. The 5-y-o is armed with sky-high potential now tackling the larger obstacles and, granted a clear round, he will prove hard to beat. Dee Capo, who was still firmly in contention when falling two out at Navan three weeks ago, is feared most ahead of the selection's stablemates Captain Cody and Chapeau de Soleil.
DEE CAPO was running a big race before a fall in a decent beginners' at Navan latest and he can put his chase experience to good use

1st (5) (15/8 +17%) Home By The Lee |
15/8(+17%) | (5) Home By The Lee 15/8, Very smart hurdler. Course winner. 7/1, didn't need to improve to win 8-runner Lismullen Hurdle at Navan (20.2f, good to soft) 42 days ago by 3½ lengths from Bob Olinger, driven out. Blinkers back on and another bold show on the cards. Won this race in 2022, below-par last year, beat Bob Olinger at Navan, 5lb worse off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3/1 -9%) Bob Olinger |
3/1(-9%) | (3) Bob Olinger 3/1, High-class chaser. Creditable 3½ lengths second of 8 to Home By The Lee in Lismullen Hurdle (11/8) at Navan (20.2f, good to soft) 42 days ago. 5 lb better off with that rival now but couldn't be sure that this step back up in trip is what he wants. Two Grade 2 wins last terms, beaten by Home On The Lee at Navan, 5lb better off now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (33/1 0%) Rocky's Diamond |
33/1(0%) | (7) Rocky's Diamond 33/1, Lightly-raced winner over hurdles. 12/1, career best when winning 11-runner handicap hurdle at Gowran (24f, good) 84 days ago. Probably capable of better still but he's biting off more than he can chew here. Won a 3m handicap at Gowran in October, faces huge task here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (8/1 +50%) Sandor Clegane |
8/1(+50%) | (8) Sandor Clegane 8/1, Smart chaser. Second of 4 in minor event hurdle (7/4) at Clonmel (24f, soft) 25 days ago. Will need to improve for the fitting of blinkers if he's to play a leading role. Second in four-runner conditions event at Clonmel on reappearance, this is very demanding. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (4/1 +11%) Hewick |
4/1(+11%) | (4) Hewick 4/1, Top-class chaser. Winner of 4 of his 23 starts in this sphere. Good second in the Champion Chase at Down Royal (3m, good to soft) last month. One to consider on debut for new yard. Last year's King George hero, excellent second over hurdles at Auteuil in May, new trainer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (15/2 +0%) Asterion Forlonge |
15/2(+0%) | (1) Asterion Forlonge 15/2, Very smart chaser. 13/2, creditable 6½ lengths second of 11 to Teahupoo in Champion Stayers' Hurdle at Punchestown (23.5f, good to soft), going with enthusiasm. Capable of taking a hand in the finish, provided he is ready to roll following an 8-month absence. Closely matched with Home By The Lee on Punchestown running, lacks a recent outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (14/1 +58%) Beacon Edge |
14/1(+58%) | (2) Beacon Edge 14/1, Very smart chaser. 25/1, 9¼ lengths third of 4 to Lossiemouth in Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, good) 27 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and he looks vulnerable from a win point of view. Veteran won a four-runner Grade 2 at Wetherby in November, up against it at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (22/1 -238%) Noble Yeats |
22/1(-238%) | (6) Noble Yeats 22/1, High-class chaser. Below form nineteenth of 32 in handicap chase (12/1) at Aintree (34.3f, soft), never travelling well. Off 8 months. Switches from chase to hurdles. Hood back on. 2022 Grand National winner, won last season's Cleeve Hurdle, makes seasonal debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
HOME BY THE LEE won this race two years ago and recorded a ninth career win when making a successful reappearance at Navan last month. The Joseph O'Brien-trained gelding can be prone to hitting a flat spot in his races but recorded a smooth victory when beating Bob Olinger in that 2m4f Grade 2 event and is suited by this extra 4f. Hewick, who is best suited by good ground, and Noble Yeats are the pick of these over fences. The former won the King George at Kempton last Christmas and now reverts to hurdles after running a cracker when narrowly denied by Envoi Allen at Down Royal last month, while Grand National winner Noble Yeats may just need the run.
HOME BY THE LEE was safely held in this race 12 months ago but he landed the 2022 edition and looks the way to go on the back of his reappearance success in the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan where he proved too strong for Bob Olinger and six others. The latter renews rivalry on 5 lb better terms but the jury remains out as to whether he stays this far and a bigger threat may be posed by Asterion Forlonge, who was runner-up in this 12 months ago and was also second in a Punchestown Grade 1 in April.
Winner of this race two years ago, HOME BY THE LEE is possibly a stronger staying type than Bob Olinger who rates a big danger

1st (3) (5/6 +24%) Galopin Des Champs |
5/6(+24%) | (3) Galopin Des Champs 5/6, Outstanding staying chaser who recorded his ninth Grade 1 success when winning his second Cheltenham Gold Cup in March. 50/1(+0%) | (1) Conflated 50/1, Took this in 2022 but it's now 12 runs since his last win and he came in only eighth of 9 in handicap chase at Cheltenham (29.2f, good to soft) 43 days ago. 66/1(+0%) | (9) Minella Cocooner 66/1, Very smart chaser. 24½ lengths fifth of 8 to Fact To File in John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase at Punchestown (19.7f, good to soft, 66/1) 34 days ago. |PU| (7) (25/1 -108%) I Am Maximus |
25/1(-108%) | (7) I Am Maximus 25/1, Top-class chaser who signed off last term with a career-best win in Grand National at Aintree, storming clear. Off 8 months and needs to hit the ground running back down in trip. 2024 Grand National winner, plenty to find with Galopin Des Champs on last term's clashes. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Dual Gold Cup victor GALOPIN DES CHAMPS can regain the winning thread for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend. Although beaten on his seasonal reappearance in the John Durkan Chase last month, the eight-year-old ran a huge race in the circumstances. Forced to make the running, the Timos gelding made a brave bid over a trip short of his best. Back over three-miles here, it will take a smart performance to lower his colours. Durkan winner Fact To File leapt to the head of the Gold Cup betting after taking the aforementioned race in impressive fashion. However, he faces a real test now, taking on the reigning champion on what is one of his favourite tracks. Grand National winner I Am Maximus is one that shouldn't be underestimated.
FACT TO FILE wasted no time in announcing himself at chasing's top table when lowering the colours of Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Galopin Des Champs no less in the John Durkan at Punchestown last month and can confirm himself the leading chaser around by again proving too strong for his stablemate in a thrilling Savills Chase. Inothewayurthinkin and Conflated appeal as the pick of the rest in the battle for minor honours.
Course specialist GALOPIN DES CHAMPS is tipped to avenge the Punchestown defeat inflicted by year-younger stablemate Fact To File

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Lightly raced over flights, the Noel Meade-trained GOLDEN TEMPLE can complete a hat-trick. A winner of his latest two National Hunt starts at Downpatrick and Roscommon respectively, the four-year-old really caught the eye with a huge run over an inadequate trip on the level at Dundalk recently. Sure to have been lined up for this particular contest, he can continue his progression. Win Some Lose Some gave the impression that he would be suited to stepping up to three-miles when staying on to finish fifth in Listed class at Naas last time. King Alexander has to be of interest on his first start for Willie Mullins. A four-time winner when trained in Britain, the six-year-old has the potential to play a big part.
A few with chances but FORTUNEDEFORTUNATA can race off the same mark as when a very good Navan fourth last time out so looks the way to go. Tranquil Sea heads the list of dangers on the back of his good Clonmel second, although a solid case can also be made for Binge Worthy, Golden Temple and Win Some Lose Some.
Paul Nolan has three runners here. FEET OF A DANCER has run creditably in mares' races and gets a hopeful vote over Maxi Mac Gold

13/2(-8%) | (1) Global Submission 13/2, £5,000 3-y-o, Telescope gelding. Half-brother to useful hurdler/chaser Global Jackpot. Dam (h89), maiden hurdler (stayed 3¼m), useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 3m) Mon Villez. Third in a point and looks an interesting Rules newcomer. Half-brother to Global Jackpot and only narrowly denied in a point and form working out. |

3rd (5) (13/8 -18%) Soir De Garde |
13/8(-18%) | (5) Soir De Garde 13/8, Promising type. 5/2 and hooded, second of 9 in bumper at Punchestown (16.8f, good to soft) on NH debut 34 days ago, clear of rest. Should progress and is an obvious player. Distant 2nd to subsequent Listed winner on debut and half-brother to State Man. |

33/1(+34%) | (7) Trooper Lewis 33/1, Twice-raced maiden. Last of 11 in bumper at Navan (16.2f, good to soft, 28/1) 42 days ago, going in snatches. 2nd in 7-runner Fairyhouse bumper on debut; low-key run in deeper race since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (20/1 +39%) Prince Inger |
20/1(+39%) | (4) Prince Inger 20/1, Racinger gelding. Dam 2m hurdle winner. Not an obvious sort on paper. Racinger gelding; dam French 2m hurdle winner; yard 1-69 in bumpers last five years. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Dromahane third GLOBAL SUBMISSION can make a winning debut under rules. A notable Irish runner for Walters Plant Hire Ltd, the Henry de Bromhead-trained four-year-old is a horse of huge potential. The winner of that aforementioned point-to-point franked the form when striking on his racecourse debut for Willie Mullins. The latter runs Soir De Garde here. Runner-up on his initial outing at Punchestown last month, that form was also boosted when the easy winner followed up on his next start. Portrush point-to-point winner Kovanis has to be respected on his first appearance for Gordon Elliott.
KOVANIS has joined top connections for a hefty sum after an easy point win and he's the obvious one to side with having his first go under Rules. Soir De Garde should improve on his debut and, in the unlikely even that Kilwaughter participates 2 days on from his winning debut, he'd be a live danger.
SOIR DE GARDE finished 2nd to a subsequent Listed winner last month and this half-brother to State Man should improve

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
