1st (2) (8/1 +60%) Nebrook Dream |
8/1(+60%) | (2) Nebrook Dream 8/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 150/1, seventh of 11 in novice at this course (7f, soft) 28 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time, cheekpieces on 1st time. Makes handicap debut. Dropped in trip for nursery debut and with headgear added, so comes with risks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/4 +10%) Emporess |
9/4(+10%) | (1) Emporess 9/4, 8/1, career best when winning 10-runner nursery at Bath (5.7f, soft) 7 days ago, comfortably. Has a solid chance of defying the penalty. Penalised for last week's comfortable Bath success when the ground was heavy; solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (22/1 -57%) Zadkiel |
22/1(-57%) | (5) Zadkiel 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 9/2, fifth of 8 in nursery at Carlisle (5.8f, good to soft) 27 days ago, slowly away. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Has work to do. No better for being gelded when only fifth on nursery debut (6f, soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (9/1 +44%) Up The Anti |
9/1(+44%) | (6) Up The Anti 9/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 10 in maiden (33/1) at Bath (8f, good) 24 days ago. Back down in trip. Makes handicap debut. Must improve. Testing ground a first but possible potential off this low a mark on nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (16/1 -60%) Bank On Kent |
16/1(-60%) | (8) Bank On Kent 16/1, 10/3, last of 8 in nursery at Brighton (5.3f, good) 49 days ago, doing too much too soon. Not one to write off just yet. Mixed fortunes since wearing a visor but hasn't been far away on a couple of occasions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (10/1 -100%) Specified |
10/1(-100%) | (3) Specified 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Good second of 9 in nursery (7/2) at Chelmsford City (6f) 10 days ago, hampered. Merits respect. Back from a break when a length second on nursery debut at Chelmsford (6f; 7-2). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (12/1 +52%) Lolapalooza |
12/1(+52%) | (11) Lolapalooza 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Seventh of 9 in nursery (11/2) at Yarmouth (8f, good to firm) 19 days ago. Back down in trip. Others more persuasive. Encouraging penultimate effort, albeit over 7f; 1m looked too far last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (11/1 -22%) Son Of Astar |
11/1(-22%) | (4) Son Of Astar 11/1, Good third of 9 in nursery (6/1) at Thirsk (6f, good) 22 days ago. In good order and can be thereabouts again. Coped with the good to soft fine when third to a progressive winner at Thirsk. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (10/1 -11%) Love Games |
10/1(-11%) | (10) Love Games 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable third of 8 in nursery (7/1) at Carlisle (5.8f, good to soft) 27 days ago. Can continue to give a good account. Back from a break and a gelding operation when a front-running third on soft at Carlisle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (33/1 -32%) Bungle Reigns |
33/1(-32%) | (9) Bungle Reigns 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Seventh of 9 in nursery at Thirsk (6f, good, 14/1) 22 days ago, met some trouble. Failed to raise his profile when a well-held seventh on nursery debut at Thirsk. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (9/2 -80%) Wiesaam |
9/2(-80%) | (7) Wiesaam 9/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 2/1 and blinkered for 1st time, second of 7 in nursery at Newcastle (7.1f) 21 days ago, clear of rest. Could do better again, so makes obvious appeal. Soft ground is a worry but he was clear of the third when second on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Turned out again quickly after a comfortable success at Bath last week, EMPORESS looks more than capable of following up under a 6lb penalty, with Oisin Murphy taking over in the saddle. Narrowly denied on his handicap debut over 7f at Newcastle, Wiesaam could go close on the drop in trip, while similar comments apply to Specified, who ran a career best when runner-up at Chelmsford last time out.
EMPORESS moved through smoothly to land a soft-ground nursery at Bath with an improved performance and, if she's in the same form, she could have enough to defy a penalty at the likely expense of Wiesaam, who looked well handicapped at Newcastle last time. Specified is another one to consider.
A few with chances but EMPORESS is the one proven in the conditions and she had a nice bit in hand last week at Bath.

Connie's Way |
(6) (10/3 +5%)10/3(+5%) | (6) Connie's Way 10/3, Thrice-raced maiden. 9/1, third of 4 in novice at Chester (6.1f, soft) 17 days ago. Cheekpieces now go on and she's not one to write off now handicapping. Upped to 7f and cheekpieces are enlisted, for what should be a much more realistic chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) (9/4 +44%) Unforgetable Belle |
9/4(+44%) | (5) Unforgetable Belle 9/4, Dark Angel filly who has displayed race-by-race progress in 3 starts to date, fifth of 12 in novice at this C&D (soft) 28 days ago. She could yet have more to offer now handicapping. There's been some improvement over her first three starts, the latest over C&D on soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/2 -22%) Summer Of Light |
11/2(-22%) | (1) Summer Of Light 11/2, Earthlight filly who matched pick of her form in maidens when good third of 10 in nursery at Bath (5.7f, soft, 12/1) 7 days ago, staying on final 1f. Up in trip now and respected with conditions holding no fears down into class 6 company. Third in nursery at Bath last time, rallying over the extended 5f; dam was a 1m winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (12/1 +25%) Princess Inga |
12/1(+25%) | (7) Princess Inga 12/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 200/1, ninth of 11 in novice at Windsor (8.1f, good to firm) 36 days ago. Others more persuasive now attentions switch to handicaps. Well held at triple-figure odds; no solid form claims but it is her handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/4 -10%) Pay Attention |
11/4(-10%) | (2) Pay Attention 11/4, Lightly-raced maiden. Gelded/off 9 weeks, posted best effort to date when third of 7 in nursery at Salisbury (7f, good to soft, 11/4) 25 days ago, running on. Expected to be bang there. Gambled on for nursery debut at Salisbury (7f, good to soft) and stayed to be a close 3rd. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (17/2 +15%) Paulie Two Lockers |
17/2(+15%) | (3) Paulie Two Lockers 17/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 40/1, ninth of 10 in maiden at Thirsk (6f, good to firm) 53 days ago. Gelded ahead of handicap debut and the betting could prove a useful guide now stepping up in trip. Gelded and up in trip for nursery debut; a first competitive show should not be ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (7/2 +46%) Tiempo Alegre |
7/2(+46%) | (4) Tiempo Alegre 7/2, 22/1, creditable fifth of 10 in nursery at Chester (7f, soft) 17 days ago, keeping on when not clear run inside final 1f and noted finishing with running left. Has a bigger effort in her locker on that evidence and Tom Marquand an eye-catching booking. Beaten about 4l when hooded in her two nurseries (7f on good to soft); hampered on latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A promising third when keeping on from off the pace at Salisbury last time out, PAY ATTENTION should be able to build on that effort. Tom Ward's charge gets the vote ahead of Summer Of Light, who was an eye-catcher at Bath last week when staying on well for third over a shorter trip. Connie's Way hasn't shown much since a creditable debut at Hamilton in August, but she cannot be ruled out either.
PAY ATTENTION took a while to hit full stride but was noted doing his best work at the finish when third on nursery debut at Salisbury 25 days ago. He could well be sharper here given that was his first start for 9 weeks and he earns the vote again partnered by Rossa Ryan. Tiempo Alegre and Summer of Light are others to consider.
Not much imagination is required to give nearly all of these a chance but preference is for PAY ATTENTION from Unforgetable Belle.

6/1(+14%) | (7) Miss Lalita 6/1, Promising individual. Fifth of 7 in maiden at Hamilton (8.3f, good, 12/1) 16 days ago, left poorly placed. Should have more to offer. Modest form both starts; surely one of the newcomers can demand more of her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (16/1 +20%) Advertorial |
16/1(+20%) | (1) Advertorial 16/1, Once-raced filly. 22/1, sixth of 9 in maiden at Wolverhampton (8.6f) on debut 11 days ago. Much more needed. 22-1, weakened to go down by 18l in maiden at Wolverhampton (8.6f, AW) 11 days ago. |

4/1(+75%) | (2) Lantern Yard 4/1, Once-raced filly. Ninth of 11 in maiden at Yarmouth (8f, good to firm, 11/1) on debut 19 days ago. 11-1, slowly away and always behind in maiden at Yarmouth (1m, good to firm) 19 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Two-year-olds usually know their job first time out for the Charlie Johnston yard, and ROSSO LEVANTO could be primed to strike being a half-sister to Adjuvant, who himself scored on debut. The daughter of Waldgeist is bred to improve over further, but she can get the better of fellow newcomer Luisa, whose dam was a multiple Group 1 winner. Miss Lalita is the pick of those with experience.
MISS LALITA probably has a bigger performance in her and this isn't a strong race for the grade, though newcomers Rosso Levanto and Luisa would need taking very seriously if the money came for either.
No compelling positive pointers. The market moves need a very close check but ROSSO LEVANTO is the selection ahead of Latona.

1st (11) (9/1 +36%) La La Lucrative |
9/1(+36%) | (11) La La Lucrative 9/1, Runner-up in a pair of 6f handicaps in May but has largely struggled since, below form when fifth of 9 in handicap at Pontefract (6f) 3 weeks ago. Return to this forecast slower surface may help with a hood refitted. 0-10; best run when 2nd at Catterick in May (6f, soft); not done as well since; fair mark. |

2nd (4) (12/1 -9%) Showhound |
12/1(-9%) | (4) Showhound 12/1, Sixth of 8 in handicap (4/1) at Hamilton (6f, good) 15 days ago, headway 2f out before weakening final 1f. Previous Chester third was a solid display but balance of his exploits this season have been underwhelming. Fair juvenile; third at Chester in headgear two runs back but not as good last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (5/1 -25%) Papabella |
5/1(-25%) | (6) Papabella 5/1, Found some progress in recent months, making it 2 wins from last 3 starts when landing 12-runner C&D handicap 4 weeks ago, relishing the switch to front-running tactics. Needs considering with a repeat up 6 lb. Has won two of last three races, latest over C&D on soft; up 6lb; has a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (40/1 -186%) Spirit Of Breeze |
40/1(-186%) | (7) Spirit Of Breeze 40/1, Built on more positive signs when signing off 2023 with success in a C&D handicap last July. Possibly still gaining full fitness in 2 starts following an absence, fifth of 7 in handicap at Sandown (5f) 25 days ago. Operating from last winning mark. C&D win on soft in July 2023; off 401 days after; below-par over 5f this term; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/1 +18%) Impressor |
9/1(+18%) | (2) Impressor 9/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2023 and, having finished runner-up on 2 previous starts, he proved disappointing when last of 9 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good) 16 days ago, weakening final 1f. Claims if bouncing back. Suited by 6f on soft/heavy; below-par latest but in fair form before that; each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (16/1 -33%) Believe You Me |
16/1(-33%) | (1) Believe You Me 16/1, Landed back-to-back handicaps at Chepstow (7f) in July. Keener than ideal and below form in 2 starts since, tenth of 12 in handicap back at that venue (1m) 6 weeks ago. Switch to sprinting could help in that regard now. Two 7f wins in July; went up 10lb for 2nd success; not done as well since; first run at 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (14/1 +0%) Belsito |

Cheekpieces back on. Needs to keep the slow starting at bay. Carlisle winner in June; not fared quite as well since (excuses last time); could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (25/1 -150%) Dancing Sapphire |
25/1(-150%) | (10) Dancing Sapphire 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 9/2, third of 11 in novice at Kempton (6f) 22 days ago. More needed making handicap debut. Some promise in a turf maiden and two AW novices; handicap debut; first run on soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (14) (15/2 +46%) Shark Two One |
15/2(+46%) | (14) Shark Two One 15/2, Course winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Respectable third of 11 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, good, 12/1) 22 days ago, beaten only by a pair ridden from off the pace. Fancied to go well again back at scene of his last success. Two wins over 7f in 2023; fair placed efforts this term; acts on soft; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (11/1 -83%) Silent Flame |
11/1(-83%) | (3) Silent Flame 11/1, Resurgent with blinkers enlisted, adding to her tally at Goodwood (6f) in August. Clearly not 100% when last of 16 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, good to firm, 9/1) 23 days ago and she appeals as the type to bounce back. Two wins over 6f on good to soft this term; lost action when tailed off latest; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (13) (28/1 -40%) Bomb Squad |
28/1(-40%) | (13) Bomb Squad 28/1, Gained reward for his consistency when scoring at Southwell (6f) last summer. Largely creditable efforts in defeat on AW thereafter but he's been off 9 months ahead of this. Possible he'll strip fitter for the run. Winner over 6f on soft, but last three wins on AW; off since December; may need the run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (11/4 +45%) Sounds Of Spring |
11/4(+45%) | (12) Sounds Of Spring 11/4, Much improved when winning 9-runner handicap at Ffos Las (6f, heavy) in August. Creditable second of 16 in handicap followed at Carlisle (5.8f, good to soft) 27 days ago and he remains well treated on old form. In good form on soft, having won at Ffos Las and finished 2nd at Carlisle; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (9) (16/1 -45%) Willingly |
16/1(-45%) | (9) Willingly 16/1, C&D winner. Shaped as if better for the run after 3 months off when seventh of 8 in handicap (12/1) at Newcastle (5f) 26 days ago. Visor on 1st time. Now below her last winning mark and she's one to consider. Exposed sprinter; dual C&D winner; soft ground suits; quite interesting in new headgear. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SOUNDS OF SPRING only found one too good when trying to follow up his Ffos Las win two starts ago at Carlisle last time. A reproduction of either of those efforts would give him a big chance here. The unexposed Dancing Sapphire has to be of some interest on her handicap debut, while similar comments apply to Idle Assembly. Others to note are Papabella and Silent Flame.
Having landed a gamble on his penultimate start, SOUNDS OF SPRING ran another solid race when runner-up at Carlisle (5.8f) 4 weeks ago. Remaining with handicapping scope on old form, he looks a live player again. Silent Flame has been resurgent since blinkers went on and she's a threat if leaving her latest run behind. Recent C&D winner Papabella and Shark Two One are others to consider in a wide-open affair.
It could be worth taking a chance on C&D winner SPIRIT OF BREEZE returning to form now back at 6f. Papabella is next best.

2nd (1) (10/3 +17%) Makanah |
10/3(+17%) | (1) Makanah 10/3, Below par at Doncaster latest but had been in good form previously and is effective over the minimum trip. Merits consideration. Won on quick ground at Redcar in August but soundly beaten on soft at Doncaster last month. |

6/1(-71%) | (4) Hedge Fund 6/1, Returned to form when second of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 11 days ago and can race off same mark here. Likely contender. Back on song when second on AW recently and a player if backing up that latest effort. |

12/1(-140%) | (3) Isle Of Lismore 12/1, Latest win at Ascot in May. 25/1, seventh of 8 in handicap at Ascot (5f, good to soft) 31 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Of interest on his May performances but his form has gone the wrong way subsequently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (7/2 +0%) The Ridler |
7/2(+0%) | (5) The Ridler 7/2, Hasn't won for a while but performed creditably of late, backing up good third at this course with fifth in the Bronze Cup at Ayr (6f) last time. Shortlisted. Running well in defeat; back down in trip today but he may still be a contender. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HEDGE FUND bounced back to form when second off this mark over 5f at Wolverhampton 11 days ago and that form gives him a big chance here. The Ridler and Makanah are both more than capable of going well in a race of this nature but neither are the most prolific of winners these day. Stone Circle disappointed last time but is a player based on his C&D second the time before.
In an open-looking event, preference is for THE RIDLER, who has been given a chance by the handicapper and arrives in good form. Hedge Fund and Makanah can also make their presence felt.
Today's expected return to slow ground is a likely plus for course winner CYPRIOT DIASPORA (nap), who runs off her last winning mark.

9/2(+18%) | (4) Kotari 9/2, 3 wins from 5 runs this year and back from 4 months off when respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at Newbury (13.3f, soft) 17 days ago. Respected. Hat-trick this spring; respectable both runs since, with nearly four months off in between. |

5th (3) (18/1 -227%) Aviemore |
18/1(-227%) | (3) Aviemore 18/1, Latest win at Chester in September. Ninth of 11 in handicap at Ayr (10f, good to firm, 13/2) 19 days ago. Something to find on form. Good record on soft/heavy, including when dominant from the front at Chester two runs back. |

6th (6) (11/1 -22%) Dambuster |
11/1(-22%) | (6) Dambuster 11/1, Latest win at Beverley in April. Unseated rider in handicap (12/1) at Pontefract (10f, good to soft) 12 days ago. Others more persuasive, Won two of his first three starts but handicap exploits have been a little underwhelming. |

7th (5) (200/1 -1011%) Ma Belle Artiste |
200/1(-1011%) | (5) Ma Belle Artiste 200/1, Fifth of 6 in handicap hurdle (13/8) at Uttoxeter (15.8f, heavy) 167 days ago. Off 167 days. Useful on the Flat, good on last Flat outing. Makes limited appeal. Has not set the world alight hurdling for new yard and there's plenty to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
STRESSFREE ran out a cosy winner of a Chester handicap over 1m2f last month and, judging by the style of that victory, a 4lb rise may underestimate him. The unexposed Galyx wasn't disgraced when finishing fourth on his handicap debut over this trip at Newbury last time and he warrants respect. The Epsom winner Lord Melbourne completes the shortlist, although this step back in trip leaves him with a question to answer.
STRESSFREE scored with plenty up his sleeve at Chester last month and hasn't been harshly treated by the handicapper for that success. He makes plenty of appeal. Lord Melbourne and Kotari are feared most.
This looks highly competitive, with most of them having proved themselves in the mud. AVIEMORE is tipped ahead of Galyx.

9/2(+0%) | (1) Ratafia 9/2, Resumed winning ways at Yarmouth (8f) in August and wasn't seen to best effect in follow-up bid at Redcar 13 days ago. Expected to be bang there. Won on heavy last October; three more wins since, including on penultimate outing; player. |

7th (9) (33/1 -106%) Mucha Muchacha |
33/1(-106%) | (9) Mucha Muchacha 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 6 in handicap at Chepstow (8.1f, good to firm, 12/1) 82 days ago. Improvement required. Something seemed amiss on seasonal/handicap debut (1m, good) in July; no solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (15/2 -7%) King Of Speed |
15/2(-7%) | (8) King Of Speed 15/2, Course winner who returned to form when creditable third of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 15 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Merits consideration. Pretty consistent this year, with two lesser efforts on soft but he won on it last term. |

10th (2) (33/1 -136%) Diddy Man |
33/1(-136%) | (2) Diddy Man 33/1, 66/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 18 days ago. Hard to recommend. Started the season with wins on Tapeta and soft ground but it's been a struggle since. |

11th (16) (66/1 -100%) Quick Away |
66/1(-100%) | (16) Quick Away 66/1, Tenth of 11 in handicap (22/1) at Bath (10.2f, good to firm) 23 days ago. Significantly back down in trip. Hard to make a strong case for. Neck 2nd at Southwell (1m, AW) in March but has not shown a great deal since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (15) (80/1 -142%) Lord Danielson |
80/1(-142%) | (15) Lord Danielson 80/1, 25/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f). Off 168 days. Hood back on. Yet to score after 9 attempts. Two bits of modest form over 7f in his six AW handicaps but it's hard to be persuaded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (3) (15/2 +25%) Never Dream |
15/2(+25%) | (3) Never Dream 15/2, Winner at Goodwood in June. Fifth of 8 in handicap at Sandown (7f, good, 9/1) 74 days ago. Others look better treated. Won seasonal/handicap debut; out of form on last two starts; lightly raced 3yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (7) (14/1 +0%) Autumn Rose |
14/1(+0%) | (7) Autumn Rose 14/1, Winner at Haydock in July. 8/1, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at Chester (7f, heavy) 25 days ago. Each-way claims. Needs to improve on her heavy-ground display (has 2yo form on good to soft/soft) last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
TEMPER TRAP lost little in defeat when a close-up second over a mile at Musselburgh six days ago, and he gets the vote to atone for that near-miss off the same mark. Ratafia endured a luckless passage when finishing down the field over 7f at Redcar last month, and it would be no surprise if he were to bounce back to form. Ballsbridge completes the shortlist.
RATAFIA has already scored twice this term and finished with running left when not getting the breaks at Redcar last time. He can add another victory to his tally. Temper Trap and King of Speed should also go well.
A chance is taken that RATAFIA can dodge the sort of traffic problems he met at Redcar. Ballsbridge and Temper Trap are next.
Ths is the racecard key.
