11/10(-32%) | (5) Super Soldier 11/10, 78,000gns Dark Angel colt; half-brother to Wonderwork, smart at 5f; dam useful at 5f at 2yo; likely go well Half-brother to two winners for the yard, including Wonderwork, who went in on 2yo debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Alkuwarrior |
22/1(+12%) | (1) Alkuwarrior 22/1, Fair effort on debut when beaten 8 1/4l in the Brocklesby at Doncaster; probably needs a good bit more to win this, but should improve at least The only one with experience, which can count at this stage, but he'll need a deal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Valor Spirit |
9/4(+44%) | (6) Valor Spirit 9/4, 65,000gns Ardad colt; half-brother to Air Force One, very useful at 5f; dam smart at 5f at 2yo; ought to make an impression February-foaled 65,000gns yearling; dam a useful early 2yo for David O'Meara; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Raging Raj |
16/1(+0%) | (3) Raging Raj 16/1, 24,000gns Raging Bull colt; dam out of a half-sister to Golan, Derby second; yard not known for early types 24,000gns yearling who doesn't hit two for a few weeks; wouldn't look an obvious early 2yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Somebody |
13/2(+0%) | (4) Somebody 13/2, £20,000 Kuroshio colt; half-brother to Cowboy Stuff, moderate at 5f; dam very useful at 6f at 2yo; could be quite sharp and yard had a few early 2yo winners in 2024 February foal who went for £20,000 as a yearling; holds a few sales race entries later on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Calafiori |
8/1(-60%) | (2) Calafiori 8/1, £18,000 Ardad colt; dam smart at 6f at 2yo; yard in decent form and top man on board; worth watching in the market Early-foaled £18,000 yearling who holds a few sales race entries; likely looking type. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Unless Alkuwarrior can take a significant step forward from his 11th in last weekend's Brocklesby, this should go to one of the newcomers. Most hold potentially more lucrative entries and the betting should be informative. Connections have covered a couple of early-closer options with VALOR SPIRIT and Richard Fahey's half-brother to 5f winner Air Force One is suggested as the first to consider. Market support for Super Soldier and Calafiori would also be persuasive.
Early-foaled CALAFIORI is narrowly preferred to Valor Spirit, who's bred to be sharp.

1st (9) ![]() Rogue Diplomat |
9/4(+63%) | (9) Rogue Diplomat 9/4, Couple of decbnt efforts and open to improvement having been green on debut and made too much use of last time; drop back in trip could prove positive; something to come Fair form when third at Beverley/Chelmsford last autumn; can do better so considered. |

2nd (2) ![]() Dark Tornado |
9/2(-125%) | (2) Dark Tornado 9/2, Down the field in Jersey Stakes (Group 3) at Royal Ascot most recent, but very high quality novice form in defeat before that; may just need this, but big chance to get off the mark Fairly useful for James Horton; off since June but player for new yard if fully tuned up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Jet Packer |
6/1(+14%) | (7) Jet Packer 6/1, Unlucky when finished fast after being squeezed out in a nursery at Newmarket penultimate start; back from a break and may need race and further at three, but capable and could be an improver Fair maiden for Richard Hannon but off since August; gelded and not ruled out for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Havana Whisper |
7/1(+30%) | (6) Havana Whisper 7/1, Stayed on with some promise on debut and poorly drawn down the field in a novice at Kempton second start; plenty more needed, but very unexposed still Showed some promise at 2yrs; poorly drawn at Kempton final run and remains with potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() Albeyours |
125/1(-150%) | (3) Albeyours 125/1, Very green and far too free on modest debut when well beaten in a novice at Redcar; can only do better but impossible to recommend Well-held debut fifth at Redcar eight months ago; significantly more is required. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) ![]() Festive Time |
25/1(-56%) | (5) Festive Time 25/1, Well beaten in a maiden at Southwell only start giving impression probably wanted further; plenty more needed and one to watch with future in mind Never-dangerous fifth at Southwell on his debut; Oasis Dream colt can take a step forward. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
EXACTLY RIGHT was well held when introduced at Kempton in December, but looked a transformed character when he returned from a gelding operation to gamely land a novice stakes at Southwell last month. With that experience fresh, the son of Kingman has a decent chance of following up now back at 7f, with the switch to turf not expected to bother him. Dark Tornado was highly tried last year and commands respect debuting for Denis Quinn. Jet Packer and Regal Guest should also be players at this level.
Ralph Beckett's EXACTLY RIGHT took a big step forward after being gelded when scoring at Southwell and can follow up.

1st (3) ![]() Gincident |
1/1(+50%) | (3) Gincident 1/1, Very much out of form since 2 3/4l 3rd off 80 in a Newcastle handicap in October; dropping down the weights quickly and well handicapped now, but well being to prove Patchy last season and was picked up for 20,000gns in January; interesting for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Marlay Park |
15/2(+6%) | (1) Marlay Park 15/2, Lost form at the end of last season after a couple of good efforts at Epsom in August; back from a break here and while nicely weighted at best may need the run Resumes on a workable mark but conditions don't look optimal back from five months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Another Baar |
8/1(+0%) | (6) Another Baar 8/1, Narrow second in a Pontefract handicap (5f) off 69 in October; well below that form twice since and back from a break here over what may not be ideal distance Achieved little in five runs over this trip; stamina a concern over this stiff 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Amathus |
20/1(-43%) | (8) Amathus 20/1, Form tailed off at the end of 2024 after decent run of form in June; returning from a break and could be refreshed, but has it to prove that hasn't regressed Nothing to suggest he's best caught fresh; regressed last season anyway. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Shelbourne |
11/2(-83%) | (2) Shelbourne 11/2, May have needed race and didn't get the clearest run beaten 2l off 72 at Wolverhampton last time; that was quite close to best form, should come on a bit and prove hard to beat Won second time out in 2024; chance history repeats itself having hit traffic 11 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Queens Road Revue |
20/1(-150%) | (7) Queens Road Revue 20/1, Won a Beverley handicap narrowly off 57 in August, but below that both starts since; coming back from quite a break and thoughj mark has eased a little need to prove self again Lacks consistency; needs a career best off this mark back from over six months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Dakota Power |
6/1(+14%) | (5) Dakota Power 6/1, Best judged on 2l 2nd off 71 at Newmarket in November; well below that twice since, but arguably has had excuses (needed race, made too much use of) and may bounce back Yard has made a bright start to the year but he may need help from the handicapper now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SHELBOURNE was on the back of a 173-day break when he finished an encouraging fourth at Wolverhampton recently. Unlucky in running on that occasion, George Scott's four-year-old is entitled to be sharper and could be tough to deal with back on turf from the same mark. Gincident is feared most as he takes a drop in class on his debut for a new yard, although Marlay Park is dangerous to rule out from 7lb lower than his last winning rating.
Rated as high as 89 in the past, GINCIDENT (nap) is the sort with which in-form James Owen excels. He's preferred to Shelbourne.

1st (2) ![]() Midnight's Dream |
11/4(-10%) | (2) Midnight's Dream 11/4, Scored by 3/4l off 69 over 7f at Kempton penultimate start and plenty to do when fifth beaten 4l off 72 last time running a bit below that form; ran well on turf in 2024; can threaten Won at Kempton and backed it up with solid fifth at Southwell; he must enter calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Straight A |
7/2(-56%) | (1) Straight A 7/2, In good form and though didn't quite find as much as looked likely when beaten a neck off 72 last time at Wolverhampton did run very well; equally effective on turf as AW and the obvious form choice In good nick, runner-up in 7f h'cap at Wolverhampton 11 days ago; he can go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Soames Forsyte |
17/2(-42%) | (4) Soames Forsyte 17/2, Travelled well when scored by 4 1/4l off 64 over 7f at Southwell three starts back and back to that form when third beaten a length off 70 last time; effective at a mile and on turf; chance Very good third at Southwell three weeks ago; form franked so player off the same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Norflondonforever |
9/1(+64%) | (6) Norflondonforever 9/1, Poor debut then had wind operation and ran quite well second start despite hanging, but failed to back that up last time; questions to answer on handicap debut Only sixth in 1m Southwell novice two weeks ago; more needed for new yard now h'capping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Saturnalia |
9/2(-29%) | (5) Saturnalia 9/2, Running well of late and bang to form beaten 3/4l off 70 at Lingfield last time; similar form last summer on turf and seems sure to threaten On a long losing run be he arrives in good nick; ought to be thereabouts again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() He's Got Game |
3/1(+57%) | (3) He's Got Game 3/1, Raced freely probably needing the outing when beaten 10l in a handicap at Kempton last time; best judged on neck win off 68 at Windsor (1m) in May last year; still bit to prove second start back off a break Won at Windsor last May but below par both runs since; needs to take big step forward. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having been denied a clear run at a pivotal point when second over 7f at Wolverhampton last week, STRAIGHT A makes plenty of appeal on this quick turnaround. Reverting to a mile/turf should pose no issues for the son of Aclaim and compensation could be on the cards. Southwell fifth Midnight's Dream is another who didn't enjoy the smoothest of passages last time out and he's feared most, ahead of Saturnalia.
Michael Herrington's SOAMES FORSYTE is enjoying an excellent 2025 and can land a third win on the back of a very good Southwell third.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Raft Up |
7/1(-56%) | (5) Raft Up 7/1, In good form of late and game when scored by 1/2l off 53 at Newcastle penultimate start; backed that up last time up 3lb; should go well again Not disgraced when sixth at Wolverhampton (6f) 11 days ago; he's one for the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Gemini Star |
15/2(+6%) | (2) Gemini Star 15/2, Form fell away at the end of last term after couple of good efforts in the spring; mark has eased as a result and would contend at best, but bit to prove Signed off for 2024 with a solid third at Redcar; much respected on her return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Beelzebub |
2/1(+33%) | (4) Beelzebub 2/1, In good form last summer and well backed when beaten 4l off 67 at Nottingham final start; returning from long layoff and while chance at best has fitness doubt Fifth at Nottingham on yard debut in July; had wind op and likely player off reduced mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Lion Ring |
22/1(-38%) | (7) Lion Ring 22/1, Disappointed latest after a couple of fair efforts at Chelmsford; mark is falling and is effective on turf, but needs top bounce back Scored at Chelmsford in October but his more recent efforts have not been so encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Enderman |
8/1(-7%) | (6) Enderman 8/1, Form fell away at the end of 2024 season after solid run of efforts in summer; back from a break here and may need run, but on a handy mark now if at best On a lengthy losing sequence and ended 2024 with below-par efforts at Leicester/Nottingham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Temple Bruer |
6/1(+45%) | (3) Temple Bruer 6/1, Scored by a head off 65 at Chelmsford penultimate start after a wind operation; very disappointing last time though; chance if on song, but obvious concerns about breathing Won at Chelmsford but beat only one at Southwell 20 days ago; he needs to bounce back. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CHARLIE MASON has been in fine form on the all-weather throughout winter and into spring, and this looks a suitable opportunity for him to regain the winning thread. Gemini Star ended her last campaign with a respectable third at Redcar and market support on her return to action would be interesting. Alice Haynes' mare may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Raft Up.
The returning BEELZEBUB has slipped to a handy-looking mark for his new yard and could take advantage on the back of wind surgery.

2nd (6) ![]() Expert Witness |
15/2(+25%) | (6) Expert Witness 15/2, Probably needed race beaten 2 1/4l off 80 over 9f at Wolverhampton last time; won handicaps at Salisbury and Epsom last season; can contend Pleasing comeback for her new yard but stamina is a live concern round here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Orchard Keeper |
7/2(+36%) | (7) Orchard Keeper 7/2, Ran to form beaten 3l off 77 over 11f at Yarmouth when last seen in September; ran well off a break when scoring at Newmarket in June; top jockey back on board; very dangerous Race didn't fall her way when last seen; open to improvement over this trip; good claims. |

11/2(-38%) | (2) Zayina 11/2, Ran to form beaten 3/4l off 83 over 10f at Windsor last time and was in good form throughout 2024; up in trip and off a break, but nice mark and can go well Still to run badly and remains relatively unexposed on her return from eight months off. |

17/2(-21%) | (8) Afloat 17/2, Scored at Yarmouth by 3l off 70 in October and backed that up beaten a length off 75 next time; tongue-tie first time and off a break, but chance at weights Could have done without the dry spell ahead of her first start in five months for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Appier |
33/1(-136%) | (4) Appier 33/1, Below par well beaten in a handicap at Kempton latest; in good form on the AW prior to that and effective on turf; not out of very tight contest if recaptures best Serial slow starter who's tended to improve for a run in previous seasons; others stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) ![]() Sugarloaf Lenny |
22/1(-120%) | (9) Sugarloaf Lenny 22/1, In excellent form and had a bit in hand when landing a handicap by 1/2l off 73 at Southwell last time; Yarmouth winner on turf last term; can go well Three wins last backend but this is tougher than he's used to back from five months off. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() Con Te Partiro |
33/1(-65%) | (10) Con Te Partiro 33/1, Appeared not to stay comfortably held in a handicap over 1m6f at Southwell last time; in solid form prior up to 11f; this first run on turf so bit to prove Climbed the ranks on the AW last year, winning five times in lesser company; turf debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FIREBLADE failed to score in novice company, although he showed enough to make him of interest now handicapping. Dylan Cunha's new inmate finished third, a place behind a subsequent winner, at Kempton in January and James Doyle's presence is another positive. Expert Witness ran well for fourth at Wolverhampton on her debut for new connections and looks worth another try over this longer distance. Orchard Keeper and Zayina make most appeal of those returning to action.
Lightly raced fillies Zayina and ORCHARD KEEPER are both open to improvement over this trip, the latter getting the nod.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Glendown |
5/1(+58%) | (6) Glendown 5/1, Scored by 1/2l off 60 at Southwell in November, but well below that form twice since; effective on turf, but needs to recapture sparkle after a short break His 5 wins have come after a recent outing in the second half of the year; bit to overcome. |

3rd (1) ![]() Above |
5/2(-67%) | (1) Above 5/2, Landed handicap by a neck off 73 at Newcastle last time and in good heart prior to that; ran well on turf last summer and should take the beating despite 2lb rise Proven on undulating courses and straightforward; looks set to go well once more upped 2lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Yazaman |
11/1(-83%) | (5) Yazaman 11/1, Four-timer on turf last summer and ran to that form final start of the season when last seen beaten 1/2l off a 67; on a competitive mark for reappearance Stable yet to get rolling for the year and he may just need this back from six months off. |

5th (3) ![]() Ganesha |
4/1(+20%) | (3) Ganesha 4/1, Well backed when scored by 3/4l off 67 at Newcastle penultimate start; bit below that up 3lb last time; seems to have benefited form wind operation, effective on turf and can run well Behind Above latest and has work to do to reverse placings on just 2lb better terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Whats In The Bag |
9/4(+55%) | (4) Whats In The Bag 9/4, Raced freely beaten 9l in a handicap over 6f at Newcastle last time; has been a bit out of sorts of late and tongue-tie first time here as well as down in trip; bit to prove This mark is within range if on a going day in the tongue-tie but there are risks involved. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ABOVE has won a couple of races over the minimum trip at Newcastle this year. Robert Cowell's charge has been raised 2lb for his latest success, but has won off a higher figure on the turf in the past and another bold bid looks on the cards. Jungle Run has a bit more to prove off his current mark, although he will be sharper for last month's spin on the all-weather, while Yazaman can make his presence felt on his return to the fray.
All roads lead to ABOVE, who had Ganesha behind when winning at Newcastle two weeks ago. Whats In The Bag is second choice.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool.
