The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
With eight of the 12 declared arriving unraced, it could be folly to ignore the chances of Engineer, a winner on his second start when staying on well over this trip at Wolverhampton. He can go well, but he has to give 7lb to MUKAAFAH which may prove beyond him. Fourth on his debut at Yarmouth when sent off the 11/8 favourite, the soft ground looked against him there and he might come home in front on this surface. Morning Suit and Not Afraid may prove best of the newcomers.
This could go to a newcomer, with MORNING SUIT, Louis Barthas, Not Afraid and Gultari all making appeal on paper before market clues. Engineer was an easy winner at Wolverhampton and should go well again under a penalty.
Engineer appears to dominate among those who have raced but MUKAAFAH needs a close look. Watch out also for the newcomers.

1st (1) (15/8 +37%) Hearitfortheboys |
15/8(+37%) | (1) Hearitfortheboys 15/8, Thrice-raced maiden. Fifth of 9 in maiden (80/1) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 13 days ago, not ideally placed. Makes handicap debut. One to note in the betting. Could take another step forward now handicapping at a modest level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/2 +29%) Perfect Spring |
5/2(+29%) | (4) Perfect Spring 5/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Never involved when seventh of 10 in nursery at Lingfield (7f, good to firm, 9/2) in July but interesting that leading stable perseveres and a market move for her would look significant. Bred to do better still; possible improver on AW debut back from layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (13/2 -86%) Birkie Boy |
13/2(-86%) | (12) Birkie Boy 13/2, 7/2, career best when winning 9-runner nursery at Brighton (7f, good) 36 days ago. Placed on polytrack. Likely to go well. Modest gelding but opened his account at Brighton last time and can be respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (80/1 -220%) Quiet Affair |
80/1(-220%) | (2) Quiet Affair 80/1, Modest form. Ninth of 10 in nursery at Lingfield (6f, 150/1) 19 days ago. First-time blinkers need to spark improvement. Chance partly depends on whether the change of headgear helps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (33/1 +0%) Run Joy Run |
33/1(+0%) | (11) Run Joy Run 33/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 10 in novice at Lingfield (7f, AW) in June. Off 149 days. Makes handicap debut. Far from solid on her maiden/novice form; returns from an absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (16/1 +0%) Cogsworth |
16/1(+0%) | (3) Cogsworth 16/1, Down the field in 3 nurseries this autumn so he's hard to make a case for. Poor form since handicapping; drops in grade but is far from solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (11/1 +8%) Meet Me In Meraki |
11/1(+8%) | (5) Meet Me In Meraki 11/1, Modest form. 33/1, eighth of 10 in nursery at Wolverhampton (7f) 20 days ago. May be capable of better off this reduced mark back down in distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (33/1 -136%) Jungle Dance |
33/1(-136%) | (9) Jungle Dance 33/1, Poor form. Cheekpieces on first time, eleventh of 12 in nursery at Chelmsford (6f, 10/1) 46 days ago. Inconsistent sort but may improve for gelding operation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (100/1 -400%) Rust E Boy |
100/1(-400%) | (8) Rust E Boy 100/1, 15/2, last of 8 in nursery at Yarmouth (7f, soft) 30 days ago, possibly amiss. Makes polytrack debut. May do better off current mark back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (5/1 +29%) Black Jack Davey |
5/1(+29%) | (7) Black Jack Davey 5/1, Modest form. Respectable sixth of 10 in nursery (18/1) at Lingfield (6f) 19 days ago. In-form maiden; not beaten far at Lingfield last time; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (16/1 -33%) Ludberg |
16/1(-33%) | (10) Ludberg 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Bit below form fourth of 8 in nursery at Chelmsford (6f, 40/1) 13 days ago. Can make presence felt. Has been shaping as if a bigger effort may be on the way; one to consider. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BIRKIE BOY ran on well under Olivia Tubb to win at Brighton and, although that form is nothing to write home about, he only has 3lb more here and could follow up if he handles the drop back in trip. Hearitfortheboys drops a grade for Nigel Tinkler for his nursery debut and may be worth a market check for any signs of confidence, while Perfect Spring might be worth another chance.
In a race where few arrive with compelling claims a chance is taken on PERFECT SPRING, who represents a leading trainer/jockey combination and may have more to give back from a break. Birkie Boy is respected as a last-time-out winner, while Ludberg is down to a mark he should be competitive from.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (18/1 +0%) Sattwaa |
18/1(+0%) | (10) Sattwaa 18/1, Twice-raced maiden. Third of 8 in maiden at Newcastle (7.1f, 10/1) 50 days ago, still looking a work-in-progress. Seemingly that bit wiser when a 4.5l third over 7f at Newcastle, though did hang. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (22/1 +33%) La Cadalora |
22/1(+33%) | (6) La Cadalora 22/1, Foaled February 24. 120,000 gns yearling, Nathaniel filly. Sister to useful 1m-1¼m winner Entrusting and 1m winner Royal Nation, and half-sister to 2-y-o 7f winner Prado. Nice pedigree but the yard doesn't have many win first time out. |

Third of 7 in maiden (16/5) at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy) on debut 28 days ago, shaping well behind well-backed stablemate. More to come and big shout. It was probably a useful maiden in which she was beaten under 3l at Nottingham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Half-sister to several winners, including 11f-1½m winner Dance The Dream, 2-y-o 1m winner Rasmy and 11f winner Black Shadow, all useful. 110,000gns yearling; half-sister to five winners; warrants a check in the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (22/1 -13%) Mucha Muchacha |
22/1(-13%) | (8) Mucha Muchacha 22/1, Foaled April 17. 70,000 gns foal, Iffraaj filly. Interesting to see how she fares in the betting, particularly in relation to experienced promising stablemate Frightening. 260,000gns yearling; sister to Australian 6f-1m2f winner Fifty Stars (inc Group 1). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (15/2 +6%) Muqinah |
15/2(+6%) | (9) Muqinah 15/2, Foaled April 13. Frankel filly. Half-sister to 7f winner Mubhijah (by Shamardal). Dam once-raced half-sister to Oaks/King George VI & Queen Elizabeth winner Taghrooda out of smart 1m-1¾m winner Ezima. Makes plenty of appeal on paper. From the family of Oaks/King George winner Taghrooda; heed betting signals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (5) (125/1 -56%) Heckmondwike |
125/1(-56%) | (5) Heckmondwike 125/1, Foaled March 6. 20,000 gns foal, Golden Horn filly. 2nd foal; dam half-sister to winners Recharge (1m Group 3) and Grove Ferry (1m4f Group 3). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Muqinah looks a newcomer of note as a daughter of Frankel, but she is bred to come into her own over further as a three-year-old and may have to settle for a place for now. Uplift has more speed in her pedigree and may come out best of the unraced fillies, but FRIGHTENING is preferred. Third on her Nottingham debut on heavy ground after a slow start, she should be far better suited by these conditions.
A stack of interesting newcomers from top yards, but FRIGHTENING made a bright start at Nottingham 4 weeks ago and could be the way to go with improvement on the way. The betting may help sort the debutantes out, with Muqinah and Seek And Destroy a couple to note in particular.
The two with experience have already performed to a fair level and FRIGHTENING might be the answer.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (150/1 -88%) Jean Ribault |
150/1(-88%) | (7) Jean Ribault 150/1, Twice-raced maiden. 50/1 and hooded first time, last of 7 in maiden at Epsom (7f, good) 79 days ago. Plenty to find on his 7f turf efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) (200/1 -150%) Aye Fred |
200/1(-150%) | (3) Aye Fred 200/1, 50/1, last of 7 in maiden (50/1) at Lingfield (7f, AW) on debut 14 days ago, slowly away. Blinkers quickly reached for. Trailed home last of seven in Lingfield maiden; now blinkered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
It's tempting to side with Musical Act on the back of his 7f success in a similar race here in August. However, given that form has taken a few knocks and, with several well-bred debutants on show, there is good reason to look elsewhere. TAWAJJAH, a son of the mighty Frankel, appeals most of the newcomers and, with his yard boasting a commendable strike-rate with juveniles this year, he shades the vote. Fellow newcomers Candle Wax and Amsterdam also warrant betting checks.
MUSICAL ACT has to be the call on the back of his tidy win here at the end of the summer. The threat will probably come from newcomers, with Tawajjah, Candle Wax, Green Keeper and Lyric all making paper appeal.
Interesting newcomers TAWAJJAH, Lyric and Green Keeper head the shortlist. Musical Act is the form choice.

28/1(-40%) | (3) Cambria Legend 28/1, 100/1, sixth of 12 in novice at Newmarket (1m, good to soft) on debut 21 days ago. Should progress. Newmarket effort suggests he's not crying out for this sharper 1m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (40/1 +0%) Courageous Strike |
40/1(+0%) | (1) Courageous Strike 40/1, Fair colt. First run since leaving Adrian Murray when winning 8-runner nursery at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 19 days ago. A good deal more will be needed under a penalty back in a novice. 0-7 in Ireland; off the mark in Wolverhampton nursery on debut for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (18/1 -29%) Reveal |
18/1(-29%) | (10) Reveal 18/1, 11/1, seventh of 12 in novice at Newmarket (7f, good to soft) on debut 21 days ago. From a good stable but he needs to have come on a lot. Never landed a blow at Newmarket but is open to improvement upped in distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (28/1 -75%) Midnight Gun |
28/1(-75%) | (8) Midnight Gun 28/1, Kingman colt. Half-brother to several winners, including very smart 1m winner Snow Lantern and useful 2m winner First Emperor. Well bred and interesting to see what the betting makes of him. Kingman half-brother to Group 1 winner Snow Lantern, out of a quadruple Group 1 winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (250/1 -150%) Judgementofsolomon |
250/1(-150%) | (5) Judgementofsolomon 250/1, 50/1, twelfth of 14 in maiden over C&D on debut 7 days ago, very slowly away. More one for the longer term on that evidence. Slowly away and always behind in C&D event last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) (150/1 -127%) Scrum |
150/1(-127%) | (11) Scrum 150/1, 40,000 gns Ulysses gelding. Best watched unless the betting suggests otherwise. 40,000gns yearling; by Ulysses out of 8.4f winner; market instructive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (80/1 -220%) War Director |
80/1(-220%) | (13) War Director 80/1, Twice-raced maiden. Third of 7 in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy) 42 days ago but the form doesn't look anything special and improvement will be needed. Something to find on turf form but is bred to take well to AW. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Expected to be wiser after a near miss on his debut at Salisbury last month, MATSURI could be hard to beat. A 700,000gns purchase, this son of Sea The Stars was possibly a touch too keen that day and a more professional display can be expected this time around. Rebaatt and Reveal are others with scope for improvement, while Cupid's Dream, a half-brother to the Listed-placed Al Aguila, is an appealing newcomer.
If MATSURI makes the expected improvement from his debut he'll set a good standard for the rest to aim at. Cupid's Dream and Sword are debutants from leading yards and would rate threats if the betting speaks in their favour. Brioni is another who showed plenty of promise on debut.
As regards the runners with experience, MATSURI holds the strongest claims. Interesting newcomer Sword is second choice.

1st (7) (16/5 -16%) Chifa |
16/5(-16%) | (7) Chifa 16/5, Three wins from 10 runs this year, with latest success at Wolverhampton in October. Again not seen to best effect when second of 12 in handicap at this C&D (13/2) 9 days ago, caught further back than ideal. Major player. Unlucky over C&D last week; strong chance off same mark granted better fortune. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/1 -25%) Chalk Mountain |
5/1(-25%) | (5) Chalk Mountain 5/1, Career best when winning at Wolverhampton in October and backed up that effort when fourth of 8 in handicap (2/1) at this C&D 3 weeks ago. Can give another good account with tongue strap on 1st time. Solid record on AW this year; ran respectably over C&D most recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (6/1 +40%) Granary Queen |
6/1(+40%) | (1) Granary Queen 6/1, Twenty runs since last win in 2022. Soon back on track when fourth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 16/1) 13 days ago, though pulled hard. Can give her running again, but may just find others better treated. On a 20-race losing sequence but is now only 1lb above last winning mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (5/2 +50%) Epic Express |
5/2(+50%) | (3) Epic Express 5/2, Course winner. Continued in good heart when fourth of 12 in handicap (9/2) at this C&D 9 days ago, despite having been hampered over 1f out. Enters calculations. Ties in with Chifa on C&D running last week; solid claims off same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (200/1 -150%) Beautiful Surprise |
200/1(-150%) | (6) Beautiful Surprise 200/1, Lightly-raced winner on Flat. Last of 9 in handicap hurdle at Worcester (2m, good to soft, 80/1) on latest outing in July. Makes polytrack debut on first run for yard after leaving Nigel Hawke. Market may prove best guide back on Flat for new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (12/1 -100%) To The Bar |
12/1(-100%) | (2) To The Bar 12/1, Run best excused when eighth of 12 in handicap (25/1) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) when last seen a year ago, not ideally placed. Has lengthy absence to overcome as he makes first run for yard after leaving Denis Quinn. Market may prove best guide on stable debut, back from 12-month absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (14/1 -56%) Believe You Me |
14/1(-56%) | (8) Believe You Me 14/1, Opened account at Chepstow in July and, after a below-par effort 9 weeks later, back on track when sixth of 13 in handicap at Leicester (7f, good, 7/1) 36 days ago. Needs to find more with blinkers on 1st time. Sole win came in a weak race; first-time blinkers need to help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (5/1 -11%) Creme De Cacao |
5/1(-11%) | (4) Creme De Cacao 5/1, Off the mark at Chelmsford in March and ran creditably when third of 9 on handicap debut (7/2) at Southwell (7.1f) the following month. Could make her presence felt with more still to offer for her leading yard. Placed at Southwell when last seen; open to further progress; interesting. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Creme De Cacao, who is still unexposed in handicaps, needs to be taken seriously if she attracts good support in the betting on her first start since April. Epic Express is also dangerous to ignore, despite running off 5lb higher than his last winning mark (on turf). However, CHIFA was denied by just a head here nine days ago and, off the same mark, he has a live chance with Liam Wright back in the saddle.
CHIFA looked unlucky not to win when narowly denied at this C&D 9 days ago, just failing having been caught further back than ideal, so he is taken to return to winning ways this time around. Creme de Cacao is feared most as she makes only her second start in a handicap, while Epic Express also merits consideration.
Granted better fortune CHIFA could well gain compensation for missing out narrowly last week. Epic Express is second choice.

1st (9) (33/1 +18%) Miss Bella Brand |
33/1(+18%) | (9) Miss Bella Brand 33/1, Successful at Windsor in May but hasn't been able to match that level since, running well below form when fifteenth of 16 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, heavy, 22/1) 11 days ago. Runner-up in all three starts at Kempton, the latest in January; mixed recent evidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (22/1 -10%) Ivory Madonna |
22/1(-10%) | (10) Ivory Madonna 22/1, Not in the same form as previous outing when tenth of 17 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, heavy, 14/1) 11 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Has work to do as she looks for her first success. Maiden; three of her 2023 runs have been here and that form does not look good enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/2 -29%) Roarin' Success |
9/2(-29%) | (2) Roarin' Success 9/2, Continued her progress when making winning return at Ascot in July. Shaped as if amiss when last of 17 in handicap at Goodwood (1m, soft, 11/2) the following month, but she may yet get back on the up after a break. Something amiss at Glorious Goodwood (11-2 for 17-runner handicap) over three months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (11/1 -22%) Algheed |
11/1(-22%) | (8) Algheed 11/1, Bounced back to form when third of 12 in handicap (13/2) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 13 days ago, keeping on having been slightly outpaced halfway. Capable of getting involved from 1 lb below her last winning mark. Back near best when third at Wolverhampton 13 days ago, putting her back into calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (6/1 -20%) American Belle |
6/1(-20%) | (4) American Belle 6/1, Latest win at Doncaster in June. After 7 weeks off, left behind a lesser effort when fifth of 11 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f, 13/2) 32 days ago. Task is now to build on her latest run. This has been a solid campaign when at 7f; concern is that the handicapper has caught up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (5/1 -43%) Wild Side |
5/1(-43%) | (1) Wild Side 5/1, Completed hat-trick when scoring at Redcar in June. After 4 months off, resumed progress when second of 12 in handicap (22/1) at this C&D 2 weeks ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Leading contender. Good second over C&D two weeks ago after a four-month absence; cheekpieces go on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (6/4 +45%) Orzo |
6/4(+45%) | (3) Orzo 6/4, Impressive winner at this C&D on debut back in 2021. Has only raced twice since, shaping well after further 7 months off when third of 8 in handicap at Newmarket (1m, good to soft, 11/) 3 weeks ago. Respected. C&D debut winner in 2021; only two runs since, back to form on latest; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (9/1 -20%) Urban Decay |
9/1(-20%) | (6) Urban Decay 9/1, Returned to all-weather, doubled her tally with a ready success in 8-runner handicap (6/1) at this C&D 3 weeks ago. Could be thereabouts again now that she's back on track. Back up 4lb but has had just six races and made a telling late bid over C&D last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ORZO is the least exposed in this field and she showed plenty of promise on her handicap bow when third at Newmarket. The daughter of Aclaim struck on her debut over C&D and she looks the way to go. Wild Side filled the runner-up spot over C&D earlier in the month and she is likely to be in contention off a 1lb higher rating, while Urban Decay could also have a say.
After 4 months off, WILD SIDE got back on the up when second at this C&D a fortnight ago and she can build on that effort to gain a fourth success of the year. Heading the list of dangers is Orzo, who also ran well after an absence on her latest outing, with last-time-out C&D winner Urban Decay completing the shortlist.
The three to concentrate on may be ORZO, Urban Decay and Wild Side, who are preferred in that order.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (14/1 +44%) Graphite |
14/1(+44%) | (6) Graphite 14/1, Last of 11 in handicap (25/1) at Newmarket (12f, soft) 12 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Has unconvincing claims on 2023 form; opposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/2 +10%) Capital Theory |
9/2(+10%) | (4) Capital Theory 9/2, Latest win at Ayr in September. 6/1, creditable third of 12 in handicap at this course (11f) 9 days ago, having run of race. Should give another good account. Creditable third in the London Middle Distance Series Final here nine days ago; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (9/1 +10%) Geremia |
9/1(+10%) | (13) Geremia 9/1, Unreliable sort. Course winner. Latest win at Ayr in July. 33/1, respectable ninth of 31 in handicap at Newmarket (18f, good to soft) 32 days ago, nearest finish. Significantly back down in trip. Not disgraced in major handicaps at Newmarket the last twice; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (14) (6/1 -9%) Haku |
6/1(-9%) | (14) Haku 6/1, C&D winner. 18/1, good third of 12 in handicap at this C&D 28 days ago. Not taken lightly. Form figures over 1m4f on AW read 21113243; again highly likely to give his running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (5/1 +0%) Dark Moon Rising |
5/1(+0%) | (9) Dark Moon Rising 5/1, Latest win at York in July. 7 lengths eighth of 9 to Capital Theory in handicap at Ayr (13.1f, good, 7/1) 53 days ago. Others more persuasive. Landed a notable AW event in March 2022 and had a higher mark at the time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (9/2 +31%) Enthrallment |
9/2(+31%) | (7) Enthrallment 9/2, 16/1, good second of 9 in handicap at Ascot (10f, good to soft), clear of rest. Off 124 days. Back up in trip. Enters calculations. Gives the impression there's a race of this nature in him; interesting contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (20/1 -25%) Kenzai Warrior |
20/1(-25%) | (12) Kenzai Warrior 20/1, Course winner. Below form fifth of 11 in novice hurdle (5/1) at Stratford (16.3f, good to soft) 37 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Others more persuasive. Useful on his day but is far from solid judged on 2023 form (Flat/hurdles). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (8/1 -45%) Batemans Bay |
8/1(-45%) | (3) Batemans Bay 8/1, 28/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at York (10.2f, soft) 32 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Must up his game. Possibilities if suited by the switch to AW; only his second handicap attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (40/1 -100%) Cardano |
40/1(-100%) | (5) Cardano 40/1, 13/2, below form seventh of 12 in handicap hurdle at Chepstow (16f, soft) 15 days ago. Fairly useful on the Flat, made the most of a handy mark on latest outing in this sphere. Remains of interest. Successful at Epsom on most recent Flat attempt; still well treated on peak form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (80/1 -21%) Vellner |
80/1(-21%) | (10) Vellner 80/1, First run since leaving P. Twomey when seventh of 8 in handicap (80/1) at Nottingham (10.2f, heavy) 28 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Ex-Irish 4yo whose form dipped markedly on debut for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) (14/1 -56%) Royal Scandal |
14/1(-56%) | (11) Royal Scandal 14/1, C&D winner. 4/1, last of 7 in handicap at this course (16f) 21 days ago. Return to this trip will suit and she's one to consider. Won over C&D in 2022 and holds a good chance off reduced mark back at 1m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (8) (50/1 -52%) Buxted Too |
50/1(-52%) | (8) Buxted Too 50/1, C&D winner. 5 wins from 9 runs this year. 13/2, below form fifth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot (16.8f, good) 161 days ago. Off 161 days. Handicapper seems in control. Return to this sphere looks a plus; 7-18 on AW, including five wins this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (1) (200/1 -300%) Adrian |
200/1(-300%) | (1) Adrian 200/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 8 in handicap (100/1) at Nottingham (10.2f, heavy) 28 days ago. Plenty to prove at present. Useful in Germany; two heavy defeats in Britain suggest he's best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Enthrallment hit the crossbar in a class 4 event over 1m2f at Ascot in July and he has to be respected off a 3lb higher mark on his return to the all-weather. However, the vote goes to CAPITAL THEORY, who finished third over a furlong shorter earlier in the month and the handicapper may have been kind to leave his mark unchanged. Previous C&D winner Savvy Knight is another to keep an eye on.
ENTHRALLMENT is still lightly raced and came clear of the remainder when runner-up at Ascot 4 months ago. He's fancied to go one better at the possible expense of Capital Theory, who should get the early lead from stall 1. Haku is another one to consider.

2nd (12) (33/1 -18%) Papabella |
33/1(-18%) | (12) Papabella 33/1, 14/1, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (5f, soft) 28 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Stable won this race in 2021. Lightly raced 3yo who has run in just three handicaps, closest finish on latest; AW debut. |

4th (1) (5/1 -11%) Top Button |
5/1(-11%) | (1) Top Button 5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Third of 7 in novice at Leicester (7f, heavy) 29 days ago. Tongue strap on first time. Makes handicap debut. One to keep an eye on in the betting. Some progress in novice events; 5yo who should have a better chance now sent handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (28/1 -40%) King Of Speed |
28/1(-40%) | (8) King Of Speed 28/1, Latest win at Leicester in May. Tongue strap on first time, respectable third of 8 back at Leicester (6f, good) 51 days ago. One to consider, although Billy Loughnane seemingly prefers First Company. Bits of AW form (unraced on AW since January) would see him on the premises. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (28/1 -300%) Awesome Spirit |
28/1(-300%) | (4) Awesome Spirit 28/1, Fair form in a handful of starts in Ireland. May have needed first outing for 4 months when only seventh of 8 at Lingfield on yard debut 19 days ago. No surprise to see him fare a lot better this time. 10,000gns buy in July and failed to come near market expectations 19 days ago (7f, AW). |

7th (6) (4/1 -14%) The Cola Kid |
4/1(-14%) | (6) The Cola Kid 4/1, Seeking a quick course hat-trick, following his 7f success on first day of November by seeing off 11 rivals over this trip last Wednesday. Player under Oisin Murphy. Drawn wider this time but bids for Kempton hat-trick; well treated judged on latest form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (4/1 -14%) Annie Law |
4/1(-14%) | (3) Annie Law 4/1, Three wins from 10 runs this year, the latest when battling well to shade a close finish over C&D a month ago. Only nudged up 1 lb and should be in the thick of things again. Narrow C&D win one month ago; looks set to go well again with just a 1lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (13/2 +64%) Confederation |
13/2(+64%) | (9) Confederation 13/2, Unreliable type. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Seventh of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford (6f, 5/1) 13 days ago. 0-12 for current yard, easily best of last seven runs when beaten a neck at Bath in August. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (8/1 +56%) Autumn Angel |
8/1(+56%) | (5) Autumn Angel 8/1, Latest win at Bath in July. 11/1, below form eighth of 14 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, soft) 28 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Blinkers on first time. Her stable won this last year. Hooded this February-May, winning (Tapeta) on first occasion, and now tries blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (100/1 -52%) Marinakis |
100/1(-52%) | (7) Marinakis 100/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Tenth of 11 on C&D handicap debut in April. Off since. Could only consider if backed. 50-1 for handicap debut over C&D in April, not showing much; that's his only run this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (4/1 +50%) Amber Dew |
4/1(+50%) | (10) Amber Dew 4/1, One win from 26 Flat runs. 25/1, last of 11 in handicap at Southwell (7f) in June (final start for Scott Dixon). Worth a precautionary betting check now setting out for Kevin Philippart de Foy. Sole win (26 races) was 2021; last ran in June; sold out of Scott Dixon's 5,000gns in July. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
THE COLA KID recorded a double over C&D last week and he now has 5lb extra to carry. The six-year-old has Oisin Murphy taking over in the plate and could easily bring up the hat-trick. The main danger might be Annie Law, who struck over this C&D last month and should go well, while King Of Speed is another to note on his return to the all-weather.
THE COLA KID is on a roll and might be able to complete a quick hat-trick with Oisin Murphy doing the steering. Annie Law showed a good attitude to come out on top in a blanket finish over C&D last month and is second choice ahead of Mark Loughnane pair King of Speed and First Company.
It's not hard to knock most of these claims but ANNIE LAW looks solid to go well and The Cola Kid bids for a Kempton hat-trick.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
