1st (1) ![]() Go West |
8/11(-9%) | (1) Go West 8/11, Suited by the positive ride when won a novice hurdle at Taunton over 2m3f by 5 1/2l last time; steadily progressive; longer trip should suit; can follow up Ran to useful level when comfortably making all at Fakenham and Taunton in the winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Old Cowboy |
6/5(+26%) | (2) Old Cowboy 6/5, 3 1/4l third in a handicap hurdle over 2m3f at Newbury most recent run; step up in trip a big positive; fair claims if turned out quickly Won easily by 20l at Plumpton last month and has since run well in a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Peace Of Rome |
33/1(+18%) | (3) Peace Of Rome 33/1, Probably needed race fourth beaten 20l in a novice hurdle over 2m1f at Market Rasen latest; up in trip; hard to recommend Has some fair hurdling form on his CV but is not favoured by the weights here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
This appears to be a match on paper with the hat-trick seeking GO WEST and Old Cowboy looking set to battle out proceedings. Paul Nicholls' gelding backed up his Fakenham success at Taunton in February and may well have further progression to come. The latter won at Plumpton on his penultimate effort and should give the selection a race, while Peace Of Rome has plenty to find on official ratings.
Go West and OLD COWBOY meet on the same terms as they would in a handicap but the latter has less to prove on good ground.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CHARACTER TESTING went close to gaining a first success over hurdles at Plumpton and the four-year-old has every chance of going one better off a 2lb higher mark. Graham was sent off favourite when finishing third after making a crucial error and he is entitled to be in the mix on only his second run in a handicap, while Gregorians Star appeals most of the remainder.
He managed only third on his handicap debut but, if judged on Flat ability, GRAHAM remains open to significant improvement over jumps.

12/1(+64%) | (5) El Rojo Grande 12/1, Below par comfortably held in a handicap chase over 2m3f at Chepstow last time let down by jumping; all to do from out of weights Placed at Taunton two starts ago but effectively 21lb higher from out of the weights here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (4) ![]() Everyonesgame |
1/1(+87%) | (4) Everyonesgame 1/1, 15l third in a handicap chase over 2m4f at Plumpton most recent run where let down by jumping; not proven trip; returning from a break; good mark on hurdles form; go well Safely held when last of three on chasing debut in November; back from a break today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) ![]() Kart D'estruval |
9/1(-50%) | (2) Kart D'estruval 9/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Warwick latest where made a noise in running; second run after wind op; not proven trip; off a short-break; lot to find and wants easier ground Won heavy-ground hurdle in France last spring; pulled up in handicap hurdle last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
LORD OF CHESHIRE fell heavily at Doncaster when last seen in December and the eight-year-old appears to have been found a suitable opportunity to gain his confidence back. Demoiselle Kap was attempting for a fifth success in a row when runner-up at Ludlow last time and she is capable of posing a strong threat. Others to consider are Kart D'Estruval and Everyonesgame.
The most obvious answer is DEMOISELLE KAP, who has enjoyed a very productive spell for his new stable in recent weeks.

2nd (1) ![]() Flegmatik |
85/40(+6%) | (1) Flegmatik 85/40, Suited by the quicker ground beaten 1/2l off 130 over 2m5f here last time; goes well here; step up in trip a positive; consistent; should go close Three-time course winner; went close over 2m4f here last month and 3m also suits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Hermino Aa |
4/1(+60%) | (2) Hermino Aa 4/1, Seemed to be on stiff mark beaten 9l in a handicap hurdle at Windsor last time; yet to take to chasing; longer trip a plus; good mark on hurdle form; interesting at a price Good hurdle winner in the autumn but failed to complete both previous chases (in 2023). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) ![]() Menaggio |
6/4(+45%) | (3) Menaggio 6/4, Ran to form beaten 3l off 132 over 2m6f at Kelso last time; not proven trip; has bled; risky 2-4 over fences this season; still has low mileage; moves up to 3m for first time today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
FLEGMATIK, who did well to finish a close second to an in-form rival over the the extended 2m4f here last month, could be the answer with the return to 3m looking a key factor. A C&D winner off 3lb higher in January last year, Dan Skelton's contender could be too wily for the rest over this distance. Ideal Des Bordes is surely better than he managed when pulling up here last time and is notable returning after a wind operation. Young Buster is reliable over fences and completes the shortlist.
Low-milege 7yo IDEAL DES BORDES (nap) was not himself last time but has good claims if judged on his clear second over C&D two runs ago

1st (4) ![]() Thank You Blue |
9/2(-80%) | (4) Thank You Blue 9/2, Well treated at weights when landed handicap by 4 1/4l off 103 over 2m4f at Southwell last time; down in trip; remains well treated on chase form; could figure Ridden clear to cause 20-1 surprise when back over hurdles last month; drops back in trip. |

2nd (3) ![]() Prolific Profile |
7/1(+30%) | (3) Prolific Profile 7/1, Made too much use of fourth beaten 17l in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Doncaster latest; steadily progressive prior; returning from a break; bit to find Won three in a row in September/October; off since November but further progress possible. |

3rd (2) ![]() Royal Way |
7/4(+77%) | (2) Royal Way 7/4, Well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow latest when went too fast; blinkers first time; better ground should suit; has dropped to very attractive mark; go close Developed into useful juvenile last season but has become disappointing this term. |

4th (6) ![]() Whispering Royal |
80/1(-60%) | (6) Whispering Royal 80/1, Made too much use of well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Warwick latest; generally out of form on flat prior; well treated on old maiden form; interesting at a price Well beaten on recent stable debut and has a lot more to prove than some of these. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Lions Peak |
9/5(-44%) | (5) Lions Peak 9/5, Ideally suited by trip when won a maiden hurdle at Hereford over 2m4f by 8l last time; down in trip; bit to find off stiff opening mark Won Hereford maiden by 8l last month; could easily have more to offer in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() Hidalgo De L'isle |
7/1(+30%) | (1) Hidalgo De L'isle 7/1, Raced freely comfortably held in a handicap chase at Doncaster last time; in good form prior; back below last winning mark; outside chance Better known as a chaser now but current hurdle mark is workable; can't be ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Reverting to hurdles was suggested as the source of improvement when Thank You Blue banished the memory of two failed completions over fences with a smooth performance to win over an extended 2m4f at Southwell last month. However, he drops in trip, runs off 6lb higher and Lewis Stones is unable to claim 3lb this time. Therefore, it can pay to side with fellow last-time-out winner LIONS PEAK, who was a ready winner at Hereford and debuts in a handicap off a highly workable mark of 107. Prolific Profile is another solid contender.
The pick is HIDALGO DE L'ISLE, who didn't fire over fences last time but reverts to hurdles on a good mark and with conditions suitable

2nd (1) ![]() Captain Tommy |
10/3(-11%) | (1) Captain Tommy 10/3, Won a hunter chase at Ludlow over 2m4f by 2l last time; good ground suits; slightly longer trip a plus; danger In-form 11yo who won two hunter chases last month; must be considered. |

9/2(+18%) | (3) Before Midnight 9/2, Below par comfortably held in a handicap chase over 2m4f at Bangor-on-Dee last time; bit to find and may want easier ground Very useful in his prime but out of form when last seen last summer; stable debut. |

66/1(-32%) | (6) Sam Barton 66/1, Probably needed race down the field in a handicap chase over 3m at Uttoxeter most recent; generally out of form; down in trip; difficult to fancy Disappointing under rules last season and has not shown much in recent points. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Flagrant Delitiep |
100/1(+0%) | (5) Flagrant Delitiep 100/1, Pulled up in a conditions race over 3m at Milborne St Andrew latest; down in trip; off a short-break; all to do Regressive 10yo who has been pulled up in a hunter chase and three points this year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CAPTAIN TOMMY returned from a break with a determined effort to win a similar race at Catterick early last month before following up, albeit off favourable terms, back at his beloved Ludlow 12 days ago. Assuming the busy spell hasn't taken a toll, Fred Timmis' veteran could be hard to repel in his hat-trick bid. Multiple point-to-point winner Viroflay rates the chief danger, despite being yet to win over regulation fences, while Before Midnight and Fan De Blues look the pick of the remainder.
Captain Tommy won two hunter chases last month but may find it tough to concede 8lb to recent Stratford runner-up VIROFLAY.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
