The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
GLEN HESTE produced by far the best performance of his career so far to fill the runner-spot over C&D earlier in the month and he has only been raised 1lb for that display. The son of Exceed And Excel could still have improvement in him on just his sixth career start and can get off the mark. True Blue Gent also hit the woodwork over track and trip last time, when fitted with first-time blinkers, and he looks a likely player in the retained headgear. Saxon Magic warrants a market check on his first start in the handicap ranks.
TRUE BLUE GENT reacted well to blinkers over C&D last time and, from stall 1 he has a chance to make all if he can eke out a bit more improvement. Trois Blancs shaped well from an unpromising position at Wolverhampton on handicap debut recently, so he could make his presence felt and Glen Heste is a likely player if he can overcome a tricky draw.
Marco Botti's TRUE BLUE GENT was an excellent runner-up over C&D last time out and can go one better now off just a 1lb higher mark.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (17/2 +74%) Awtaad Prince |
17/2(+74%) | (7) Awtaad Prince 17/2, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 33/1, last of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 28 days ago. Others more persuasive. Failed to beat a rival in 9.5f Wolver handicap four weeks ago; others are much preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (11/1 -144%) Lunario |
11/1(-144%) | (9) Lunario 11/1, 16/1, creditable second of 8 in handicap at this course (7f) in October. First run for yard after leaving Robyn Brisland. Cheekpieces on first time. Interesting runner, particularly if backed. Low-mileage 4yo; cheekpieces on for yard debut and very much one to consider back up to 1m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (25/1 -127%) Forward Flight |
25/1(-127%) | (2) Forward Flight 25/1, Latest win at Yarmouth in October. 7/1, last of 7 in handicap at Newcastle (1m) 27 days ago. Not easy to make a case for. Scored at Yarmouth (1m) in October but last at Newcastle latest; needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (22/1 -100%) Covert Mission |
22/1(-100%) | (4) Covert Mission 22/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Lingfield in July. Seventh of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (1m) on reappearance 20 days ago. May strip fitter for the run. C&D scorer; looked rusty after 4 months off at Lingfield latest; can take a step forward. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CEPHALUS was just denied when sent off at odds-on at Southwell and now has a 4lb higher to contend with, but he has looked like one to follow since a gamble was landed at Lingfield and can make it two from his last three in a first-time visor. Green Power put in another solid effort to hit the crossbar at Wolverhampton so could have a say off a 1lb higher mark. Lunario completes the shortlst.
Although CEPHALUS was beaten at short odds last time it was actually a good run and he's taken to resume winning ways with a visor added now. Green Power, Lunario, a new recruit for the Alice Haynes yard, and C&D specialist Uzincso may give him most to think about.
Gary Moore's rejuvenated CEPHALUS remains handily weighted on past form and can resume winning ways after being edged out at Southwell.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (5/6 -108%) Native Approach |
5/6(-108%) | (8) Native Approach 5/6, Too Darn Hot colt. Closely related to smart 6f-1m winner Discovery Island and half-brother to 1¼m winner Theatre Honours. Wears hood. Highly respected on debut for top operation. Too Darn Holt colt; hails from top yard and lots to like on paper; most interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

4/1(+11%) | (2) Alhather 4/1, €92,000 foal, 160,000 gns yearling, Kodiac colt. Dam 7f winner out of useful 1m winner (stayed 1½m) Be My Queen. Second of 11 at Southwell (7.1f, 10/1) on debut 43 days ago. That was a promising start and he can improve. Good shout in this company. Shaped well when debut second at Southwell; has more to offer so must enter calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (80/1 -21%) Northfield Lake |
80/1(-21%) | (9) Northfield Lake 80/1, 66/1, fourth of 9 at Lingfield (8f, AW) on debut 35 days ago. Very green when fourth at Lingfield on his debut; he can take a step forward. |

7/2(+50%) | (5) Forever Noah 7/2, 85,000 gns foal, €95,000 yearling, Dark Angel colt. Brother to winner up to 6f Mubaalegh and half-brother to several winners, including 1m winner Lord Tennyson and 7f winner Nibras Passion, both useful. Top yard 3 from 6 with their latest newcomers and obvious appeal first time up. Dark Angel brother to useful 5f/6f winner Mubaalegh; noteworthy debutant from top yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (66/1 -230%) Jolty Jem |
66/1(-230%) | (6) Jolty Jem 66/1, Dandy Man gelding. Half-brother to several winners, including smart winner up to 11f Frutireu and useful 1¼m winner Return To Dubai. Dam maiden (stayed 7f). Son of Dandy Man who is a half-brother to seven winners but market can guide on his debut. |

33/1(+18%) | (10) Hatadora 33/1, Twice-raced filly. 25/1, seventh of 13 at this course (8f) 21 days ago, unable to sustain effort. 100/1(-300%) | (1) Caruso 100/1, Fair form both starts on AW in 2022. Off 15 months. First run for yard after leaving James Fanshawe. Marked drop in trip surely against him on return (dam a 1¾m winner and sister to St Leger/Gold Cup winner Leading Light). Hinted at promise for James Fanshawe in autumn 2022; market can guide on comeback run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (200/1 -150%) Lightning Bay |
200/1(-150%) | (7) Lightning Bay 200/1, Twice-raced gelding. 150/1, tenth of 11 in maiden at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 12 days ago. Has beaten just one rival in pair of novices at Lingfield and Wolverhampton; lots to find. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ALHATHER showed plenty of ability on debut when second over this trip at Southwell and is likely to have learned a great deal from that experience. The Kodiac colt should have any amount of improvement to come and he looks the one to beat. Godolphin's Native Approach is a well-related son of Too Darn Hot so he needs to be watched in the betting. 95,000-euro yearlings Cracking Gold and Forever Noah are others to watch out for.
NATIVE APPROACH makes plenty of appeal first time up for Godolphin and could be the way to go before market clues. Forever Noah is another interesting newcomer, while Alhather makes most appeal of those with experience.
Charlie Appleby's Too Darn Hot colt NATIVE APPROACH makes plenty of appeal on paper and is taken to go in at the first time of asking.

7/4(+65%) | (3) Harriet's Angel 7/4, 17/2, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW). Off 111 days. Could get back on track after a break. Progress has stalled, including in two runs after a wind op; down in weights but risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/4 -13%) Stella Hogan |
9/4(-13%) | (5) Stella Hogan 9/4, C&D winner. Winner here in October. 13/2, respectable second of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f) 6 days ago, left with too much to do. Expected to be bang there. C&D win in October has been followed by three solid efforts in defeat; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 -33%) Capuchinero |
4/1(-33%) | (1) Capuchinero 4/1, Latest win at Chelmsford City in November. 12/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) 42 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Type to bounce back quickly with headgear applied. Chelmsford winner in November and ran well under a penalty six days later; headgear on now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (18/1 -125%) Regal Glory |
18/1(-125%) | (6) Regal Glory 18/1, 12/1, bit below form eighth of 14 in minor event at Bath (8f, good). Off 6 months. Likely to need the run. 7f AW winner as a 2yo; running okay when last seen but vulnerable back from six months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (17/2 -55%) Princess Naomi |
17/2(-55%) | (4) Princess Naomi 17/2, Seventh of 10 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 25/1) 15 days ago. Should come on for latest outing, so worthy of interest. Conditions shouldn't be an issue; on a good mark & sharper for recent return; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (10/1 -82%) Goldkit |
10/1(-82%) | (2) Goldkit 10/1, Blinkered for 1st time, last of 8 in handicap at this course (6f, 9/1) 21 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Needs to bounce back. Blinkers/6f didn't work last time but this trip should be more suitable; dangerous mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (125/1 -279%) Madam Pickle |
125/1(-279%) | (7) Madam Pickle 125/1, 66/1, eighth of 12 in nursery at Chelmsford City (6f), met some trouble. Off 14 months. Hard to make any sort of case for. Little solid form as a 2yo (6f-7f); absent for 442 days and she's hard to recommend. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
STELLA HOGAN didn't enjoy the smoothest of passages when runner-up at Chelmsford last week and if running to a similar level on this quick turnaround, compensation may await. First-time cheekpieces could eke out enough improvement for Capuchinero to be involved in the shake-up and Alice Haynes' mare also warrants consideration in this company. Goldkit has fallen to a low enough mark to have a say in proceedings too, with the return to 7f appearing ideal.
STELLA HOGAN was set too much to do at Chelmsford last time and was only beaten by an improver so, in the hope that there's a solid pace on, she's preferred to Capuchinero, who is expected to be back on her game. Harriet's Angel is the pick of the remainder.
A trappy event in which PRINCESS NAOMI can take a step forward with her reappearance behind her. Stella Hogan is next best.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/4 +0%) Miss Monte Carlo |
5/4(+0%) | (5) Miss Monte Carlo 5/4, Promising type. Second of 13 in novice at this course (1m) on debut 21 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Likely to improve and the one to beat. Short-head 2nd over 1m here on debut 3 weeks ago; bred to stay; more appealing than most. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (33/1 -32%) Angelica K |
33/1(-32%) | (1) Angelica K 33/1, Connections went to 55,000 gns to acquire this Mastercraftsman filly last year. Half-sister to 2-y-o 7f winner Convection. One to note in the betting. 55,000gns 3yo; dam from an excellent family; doesn't have a daunting standard to aim at. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (14/1 +44%) Ortigia |
14/1(+44%) | (6) Ortigia 14/1, 11/1 and hooded, twelfth of 13 in maiden at this course (1m) on debut 42 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Never travelled and always in rear over 1m here six weeks ago; hood left off today. |

14/1(-100%) | (3) College Choir 14/1, 22/1, last of 9 in novice at Wolverhampton (9.5f) on debut 17 days ago. Needs to leave that well behind with blinkers added now. Didn't offer much on recent Wolverhampton debut but she's well bred & blinkers may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (25/1 +0%) Sun Dancer Girl |
25/1(+0%) | (8) Sun Dancer Girl 25/1, Twice-raced filly. 66/1, eighth of 14 in novice at Chelmsford (1¼m) 41 days ago. Well held in two AW runs this winter; today's extra distance not enough to tempt. |

7th (2) (22/1 +33%) Anna Of Saxony |
22/1(+33%) | (2) Anna Of Saxony 22/1, Seahenge filly. Half-sister to several winners, including useful 8.5f-12.5f winner Byford and 1m winner Torque Power. Dam French winner up to 1m (2-y-o 7f winner). Bred to have a future so worth a precautionary betting check. Half-sister to six winners out of a Listed winner; yard not renowned for winning newcomers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (7/2 +0%) Hail The Flag |
7/2(+0%) | (4) Hail The Flag 7/2, 16/1, third of 9 in novice at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 16/1) on debut 17 days ago. Open to improvement. Shaped with promise on recent Wolverhampton debut; more to come over this trip; contender. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Miss Monte Carlo offered plenty to work with when touched off on debut here. Ed Walker's filly is a potential improver now facing another three furlongs, but newcomer SILENT GLANCE is still worth risking. The daughter of Bated Breath is a half-sister to six winners, with 1m6f Listed scorer Twitch the pick of the bunch, so the trip shouldn't be an issue. Wolverhampton third Hail The Flag should give another good account of herself.
MISS MONTE CARLO is taken to build on the promise of last month's 1m course debut second now stepped up to a trip which should suit her on breeding. Wolverhampton third Hail The Flag looks the danger unless the betting vibes are strong surrounding Ralph Beckett newcomer Silent Glance.
Silent Glance is a newcomer of some interest but HAIL THE FLAG is tentatively selected to confirm her debut promise.

4/1(+80%) | (5) Hamnet 4/1, Tongue strap on, first run since leaving A. Fabre when twelfth of 13 in handicap at this course (8f, 28/1) on UK debut, slowly away. Off 105 days. Significantly up in trip. Low-key stable debut here in October (1m); big step up in trip today; enough to prove. |

9th (6) (50/1 -400%) Head Of State |
50/1(-400%) | (6) Head Of State 50/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Fifth of 12 in maiden (5/1) at Fairyhouse (12f, good). Off 7 months. Sold from Joseph Patrick O'Brien 4,000 gns in October. Makes handicap debut. Some promise for Joseph O'Brien in Ireland; sold 4,000gns in October; market to guide. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The Bay Warrior left it late to get up over 1m3f here earlier this month so he is a likely candidate back over an extra furlong, but TURNER GIRL gets the vote. Ed Dunlop's mare is effectively 5lb lower than when narrowly denied at Newcastle last week, after taking into account Morgan Cole's claim, so she appears well placed to go one better. Cresta Cat merits close inspection ahead of his handicap bow.
TURNER GIRL was only just edged out at Newcastle on Friday and can make amends off the same mark. The Bay Warrior did well to win here earlier this month and looks the obvious threat, with Phantasy Mac best of the others.
Renardeau is interesting on the back of a wind op but LAWMAKER may be worth chancing on his stable/handicap debut.

Blinkered for 1st time, good short-head second of 11 to Barrel Aged in handicap at Southwell (14.1f, 11/2) 19 days ago, missing break. Expected to be bang there. 10th (3) (10/1 -67%) Planet Legend |
10/1(-67%) | (3) Planet Legend 10/1, Dual winner over hurdles last season. Below par this term, including back on the Flat latest. A two-time hurdles winner for his current yard but below par back in this sphere over C&D. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
There was little to separate BARREL AGED (winner) and De Vega's Warrior (second) when the pair met at Southwell last time, and the former is expected to confirm those placings en route to further success. Marco Botti's unexposed stayer has been raised just 2lb in the ratings for that victory and he looks sure to progress once again. Planet Legend is most appealing of the remainder.
There was little to choose between BARREL AGED and De Vega's Warrior when first and second at Southwell 3 weeks ago, but the much less-exposed Barrel Aged can come out on top again. Militry Decoration is the type to bounce back after a break and is best of the rest.
Marco Botti's lightly raced 4yo BARREL AGED (nap) gets a confident vote to follow up his recent Southwell success over this longer trip
Ths is the racecard key.
