1st (1) (11/8 -15%) Wyenot |
11/8(-15%) | (1) Wyenot 11/8, Closely related to useful chaser Everlastingpromise. Shaped well when third in bumper at Southwell on NH debut and created a good impression first time up over hurdles when winning at Ludlow on return despite still looking far from the finished article. Penalised but more to come. Form of hurdle debut win has been franked and she should go well, despite penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (13/2 +46%) Similar Story |
13/2(+46%) | (10) Similar Story 13/2, Easy winner of a point and there was some encouragement both starts over hurdles. Needs further to fulfil potential, though. Good-ground Irish point winner; has shown ability over hurdles; may do better in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (12/1 +40%) Blow The Budget |
12/1(+40%) | (3) Blow The Budget 12/1, Modest in bumpers and went with little encouragement sent hurdling at Uttoxeter. Off 6 months. First run for yard after leaving Michael Scudamore. Well beaten on hurdle debut in May and off since; best watched for new trainer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (300/1 -200%) Bridgetjoans |
300/1(-200%) | (4) Bridgetjoans 300/1, And Beyond filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including fair hurdler Cruachan. Dam ran once on Flat in France. Third sole start in point bumpers (Apr 16). 200/1, pulled up in novice hurdle at Hexham (16.2f, heavy) on NH debut 19 days ago. Soundly beaten on rules debut at Hexham this month and makes no appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (5/1 +0%) Fortune Forever |
5/1(+0%) | (7) Fortune Forever 5/1, Showed ability in bumpers last season and found just one too good on return/hurdles debut at Warwick (2m, good). Perhaps the testing conditions counted against her over the same C&D next time so worth another chance. Engaged 2.40 Southwell Tuesday. Has shown ability in bumpers and over hurdles but needs to improve to win this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (12/1 -140%) Libby |
12/1(-140%) | (9) Libby 12/1, Fair form over hurdles for Joseph Patrick O'Brien. Well held back on the Flat both starts for this yard but sets the standard back in this sphere. Exposed but has been consistent over hurdles; should be suited by return to this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (50/1 -52%) Hellenista |
50/1(-52%) | (8) Hellenista 50/1, Modest handicapper on Flat who didn't show much on belated hurdling debut at Wetherby 11 days ago. Triple Flat winner; didn't show enough on hurdle debut to suggest she'll be winning this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (9/2 -29%) Fiveafterfour |
9/2(-29%) | (5) Fiveafterfour 9/2, £80,000 5-y-o, Flemensfirth mare. Half-sister to fairly useful hurdler Sound And Fury. Dam, 2m hurdle winner, half-sister to temperamental but useful hurdler/smart chaser Contraband. Easy winner sole outing in Irish points (Mar 12). Likely type. Picked up for £80,000 on back of Irish point win; market to guide on rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (15/2 +25%) Anamanda |
15/2(+25%) | (2) Anamanda 15/2, Fairly useful 3-time 1½m Flat winner in France for Nicolas Clement. Makes hurdle debut (dam half-sister to useful hurdler Amore Mio). Interesting to see how she goes in the betting. Useful French Flat winner; interesting to see how she goes in market on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (125/1 -25%) Fllana Bay |
125/1(-25%) | (6) Fllana Bay 125/1, Poor maiden hurdler who was well beaten on her recent return from a 4-month break. Low-grade maiden hurdler; looks up against it on these terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (200/1 -100%) Woogrey |
200/1(-100%) | (11) Woogrey 200/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 100/1, first run since leaving Phillip Makin when eighth of 12 in novice hurdle at Musselburgh (15.6f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 21 days ago. Engaged 2.40 Southwell Tuesday. Failed to match bumper form when well beaten on hurdle debut; best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Wyenot struck by five lengths on her hurdle debut at Ludlow last month and she is likely to have much more to come, but she could find it tough to give her 7lb penalty away to point-to-point winner FIVEAFTERFOUR. The son of Flemensfirth changed hands for 80,000 pounds in the April Cheltenham sales and she is very well-related, so it would be no surprise to see her make an impression on her first outing. Fortune Forever can fight it out for the minor honours.
WYENOT looked a decent prospect when beating a couple of subsequent winners at Ludlow on hurdles bow 5 weeks ago and she can defy a penalty. Fiveafterfour was an easy winner on her sole outing in Irish points so must be respected, with Anamanda another hurdling newcomer to consider having shown fairly useful form on the Flat in France.
The one who makes most appeal is WYENOT, who created a good impression when beating two subsequent winners on her hurdle debut.

1st (2) (15/8 +6%) Young Buster |
15/8(+6%) | (2) Young Buster 15/8, Fair 2m4f winner over hurdles who showed improved form to make a winning chase debut at Warwick (20f) in May, asserting from 2 out and keeping on well. Absent since but he looks sure to win more races in this sphere. Won on chase debut in May; off since but yard going well; claims back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/2 -53%) Busty Boy |
5/2(-53%) | (4) Busty Boy 5/2, Successful on 3 of his 4 starts in Irish points and, having displayed more encouraging signs over hurdles for this yard in the spring, he took another step forward to make winning handicap chase debut over C&D in October. Player in follow-up bid. Triple point winner who won on chase debut last time; up in weights/grade but claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/4 +50%) Swallows Song |
11/4(+50%) | (5) Swallows Song 11/4, Bumper winner/fair maiden over hurdles. Shaped as if better for the run on C&D chase debut in October and best not judged harshly on his subsequent Carlisle run in novice company (out of depth). This rates more suitable and he may yet have more to offer. Won sole bumper start and ran well over hurdles but not at best so far over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (14/1 -75%) Prince Des Fichaux |
14/1(-75%) | (3) Prince Des Fichaux 14/1, Took well to fences last term, landing 10-runner handicap chase at Ffos Las (25.3f, good to soft) in April (final start for Sam Thomas). Shaped much better than distance beaten suggests on return/yard debut over C&D 18 days ago and likely he'll see things out better this time. Chase winner; shaped as though run was needed on first start for yard; should do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (13/2 -8%) Overcourt |
13/2(-8%) | (1) Overcourt 13/2, Dual hurdles winner for Sandy Thomson who has yet to finish out of the frame over fences, again finding only one too good on second start for new yard at Hexham (15.6f) 19 days ago. Proven at this trip and no reason why he won't give another good account. Missed 2022 but has shown he retains much of his ability; return to this trip should suit. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
YOUNG BUSTER was last seen making his first chase start a victorious one at Warwick when accounting for his nearest rival by just over two lengths and defying a mark of 113. The seven-year-old has been raised 5lb for that display and, with normal progression, he could prove hard to beat on his return. Busty Boy is also one from one over fences after winning in decisive fashion at Kelso last month and he could have a say off a 5lb higher mark, while Overcourt can win the battle for third.
A winner of 3 of his 4 starts in Irish points, BUSTY BOY surpassed his hurdles form when making a winning chase debut in good style over C&D 32 days ago, impressing with how he travelled/jumped. He can defy a 5 lb higher mark with the prospect of more to come in this sphere. Young Buster has been absent since scoring himself on chase debut back in May but rates a lead threat. The consistent Overcourt is another in the mix, in a competitive affair.
This can go to YOUNG BUSTER, who created a good impression when winning on chase debut in May. He goes well fresh and can do better.

1st (12) (3/1 +40%) Eden Mill |
3/1(+40%) | (12) Eden Mill 3/1, Poor maiden hurdler who returned with a good second over C&D recently. Stable going well and he's expected to be on the premises again. Ran up to best over C&D on reappearance; yet to win but couldn't rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (20/1 -100%) So They Say |
20/1(-100%) | (3) So They Say 20/1, Winning pointer who is yet to better poor form over hurdles and fell returning from a long absence over C&D on handicap debut last time. Still not exposed. Fell on first run for over 600 days over C&D last time; this could come too quickly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (13) (33/1 +0%) Blame Rose |
33/1(+0%) | (13) Blame Rose 33/1, Poor maiden hurdler who was pulled up last time. Has had a wind op since. Others make more appeal. Inconsistent maiden; below best again on heavy last time; work to do from out of handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (2/1 +11%) Secret Secret |
2/1(+11%) | (4) Secret Secret 2/1, Picked up for only £1,500 after failing to click for Neil Mulholland but now firmly on the up for current yard, getting back to winning ways in good style over C&D last time. Fancied to go in again. Irish Flat winner who has won two of three hurdle starts for this yard; up 11lb but claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (50/1 -150%) Breakdance Kid |
50/1(-150%) | (1) Breakdance Kid 50/1, Unpromising in points and, while he showed some encouragement over hurdles for Patrick Neville last season, he was pulled up on debut for this yard at Carlisle recently. Has shown ability over hurdles; well beaten on reappearance/yard/handicap debut last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (16/1 +0%) Just Call Me Al |
16/1(+0%) | (11) Just Call Me Al 16/1, Won 3 times at Sedgefield in 2021/22 season. Largely disappointing since, pulled up at Southwell 5 months ago. Returns with a bit to prove. Plenty of chances since last win and isn't consistent; down in trip and plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (10/1 -150%) You Some Girl |
10/1(-150%) | (7) You Some Girl 10/1, Fair bumper winner who attracted support and was in the process of showing better form when falling at Sedgefield last time. Can up her game if none the worse for that incident. In process of running well when taking a heavy fall last time; probably one to watch here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (11/1 -57%) Bouncing Bobby |
11/1(-57%) | (8) Bouncing Bobby 11/1, 16/1, creditable second of 10 in handicap hurdle at Hexham (16.2f, heavy) 19 days ago, suited by strong pace. Up in trip. Should go well again. Flat/hurdle winner; ran well behind a subsequent winner last time; claims back over 2m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (150/1 -200%) Silver Vision |
150/1(-200%) | (6) Silver Vision 150/1, Suited by way the race developed when off the mark in juvenile hurdle at Musselburgh last November. However, her form has gone the wrong way since, pulled up at Hexham on return. Easily opposed. Won at Musselburgh just over a year ago but well beaten since and isn't easy to recommend. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (16/1 +60%) Iolani |
16/1(+60%) | (10) Iolani 16/1, Veteran who arrives here on a losing run that stretches back to September 2021. Pulled up at Carlisle last time and is easily passed over. Not won for over two years; hasn't been shaping of late as though he's about to hit form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (4/1 +50%) Hattons Gardens |
4/1(+50%) | (2) Hattons Gardens 4/1, Showed ability in maiden/novices and back on track when fourth in a handicap at Hexham 7 months ago. Tongue tied for return and claims if he's tuned up. Has shown ability over hurdles and last form worked out well; claims tried in headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (20/1 -100%) Melchoir |
20/1(-100%) | (9) Melchoir 20/1, Brought down in handicap hurdle at Kelso (20.9f, good to soft, 11/1) when last seen. Off 6 months/had wind op. Yet to better poor form over hurdles. Not fully exposed; has had a wind op since last run but she'll have to improve to win this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (125/1 -213%) Tumbling Dice |
125/1(-213%) | (14) Tumbling Dice 125/1, 28/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (23.1f, good to firm) when last seen. Off 16 months. First run for yard after leaving Sue Smith. Hard to make a case for. 3m1f chase winner; overall form patchy and no appeal for new yard following an absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
There won't be many easier winners than SECRET SECRET was over C&D earlier in the month, as he struck with his head in his chest by 14 lengths. The seven-year-old would have been hard to assess by the handicapper after that victory and an 11lb rise may not be enough to prevent him from going in again. Bouncing Bobby looks the main threat after putting in a much better display to finish second over 2m last time and should go well off 2lb higher. Of the remainder, Eden Mill makes the most appeal.
SECRET SECRET has been turned around by his current stable and, having had plenty to spare over C&D recently, he's a confident choice to score again. Eden Mill and Bouncing Bobby are both obvious dangers.
This could go the way of BOUNCING BOBBY, who ran well behind a subsequent winner last time. The return to this trip should suit.

1st (7) (12/1 +25%) Niceandeasy |
12/1(+25%) | (7) Niceandeasy 12/1, Dual-winning chaser in the first half of 2022 but jumping errors consistently proved an issue. Shaped as if better for run back over hurdles over C&D last time and tongue tie now applied. Dual chase winner in 2022 but not scored over hurdles since 2017; needs to better last run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (33/1 -175%) Guernesey |
33/1(-175%) | (1) Guernesey 33/1, Generally consistent when trained by Philip Hobbs but disappointing in three outings for Joe Tizzard earlier this year. Has now joined another new stable and goes up in trip after 7 months off. Dual winner on a sound surface; below best when last seen and plenty to prove for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/2 -83%) Had To Be Hugo |
11/2(-83%) | (2) Had To Be Hugo 11/2, Runner-up sole outing in points and made the frame on each of his 4 starts over hurdles. Fitted with cheekpieces and solid start to chasing at this course recently and can't be ruled out returning to the smaller obstacles. Respectable run over 2m7f on chase debut last time; bred to stay and claims back hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (15/8 +32%) Jem In Em |
15/8(+32%) | (3) Jem In Em 15/8, Bumper winner who confirmed previous encouragement in this sphere when scoring over C&D a month ago. More to come and worth a chance to go in again. Turned in best effort up in trip when winning over C&D last time; player from 4lb bigher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (11/4 +8%) Haveyougotmymoney |
11/4(+8%) | (8) Haveyougotmymoney 11/4, Gained reward for several good efforts in defeat when landing 11-runner handicap hurdle at Southwell (24.3f, good to soft) in October and has remained in top form since. Should be thereabouts once again. Extended his run of creditable efforts last time and should give another good account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (6/1 +33%) Nights In Venice |
6/1(+33%) | (6) Nights In Venice 6/1, Fair maiden handicap hurdler who shaped as if better for the run over C&D last month. On a fair mark and Brian Hughes takes over, so not discounted. Entitled to come on for reappearance run and each-way claims if anywhere near back to best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (10/1 -54%) Cosmic Outlaw |
10/1(-54%) | (4) Cosmic Outlaw 10/1, Didn't kick on after winning over C&D on return last season and turned in a lacklustre display returning from 6 months off here 18 days ago. Needs a visor to perk him up. C&D winner who ran respectably following a six-month break last time; can't rule out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
JEM IN EM got the better of Haveyougotmymoney (second) when scoring over C&D last month and despite being worse off at the weights on this occasion, Lucinda Russell's charge is taken to uphold that form on dryer ground. The latter has gone close again since at Musselburgh, while Had To Be Hugo should appreciate a return to the smaller obstacles, having not shown much on his chase debut here recently.
JEM IN EM boasts a progressive profile over hurdles and responded well to get the better of Haveyougotmymoney over C&D last time, so he's likely to follow up at the likely expense of the same rival. Had To Be Hugo warrants a mention, too.
The one who appeals most is HAVEYOUGOTMYMONEY, who extended his run of creditable efforts behind a progressive sort last time.

1st (6) (10/3 +58%) Ballin Bay |
10/3(+58%) | (6) Ballin Bay 10/3, Milan gelding who is steadily going the right way, producing best effort yet when third of 7 on handicap debut at Sedgefield (27f) in April, weakening only on the run-in. Drops in trip on return to action. Best effort last season came over 3m3f; capable of better, despite dropping in distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (6/4 +67%) Enemy At The Gate |
6/4(+67%) | (5) Enemy At The Gate 6/4, Fair maiden hurdler who seemed to find the test inadequate when fourth of 12 in handicap at Carlisle (17f) returning from 6 months off in October. This rates more suitable from a 2 lb lower mark and booking of Brian Hughes catches the eye. Below Newcastle March form on both starts since but could step up on last run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (5/1 +29%) Firth Of Forth |
5/1(+29%) | (4) Firth Of Forth 5/1, Easily best effort in handicaps when runner-up over C&D in May and possible first start for 6 months was needed when eleventh behind Call Me Harry at Musselburgh (23.8f) 21 days ago. Cheekpieces go on 1st time and handicapper has relinquished his grip a little more. Fair way behind Call Me Harry at Musselburgh last time; cheekpieces on but enough to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (9/2 +0%) Beat The Retreat |
9/2(+0%) | (7) Beat The Retreat 9/2, Mild promise in 3 hurdling outings last season and looks the sort to do better now handicapping upped in trip. Deserves respect returning from 8 months off/wind op with his stable going well. Had a wind op and up a fair way in trip for handicap debut; market to guide after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (6/1 -33%) Hidden Commander |
6/1(-33%) | (3) Hidden Commander 6/1, Got back on track over fences in recent months, landing back-to-back handicaps here and at Hexham. Struggled from revised mark back up in class at Ayr (20.5f) 25 days ago but he does have a lower mark to operate from in this sphere. Multiple chase winner but yet to score over hurdles; 13lb higher than last hurdle run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
CALL ME HARRY deservedly regained the winning thread in a 3m conditional jockeys' race at Musselburgh and dropping back in trip should not inconvenience him as he looks to overcome a 4lb rise, which is largely negated by Patrick Wadge being allowed to use his 3lb claim this time. Hidden Commander may be winless in 10 starts over hurdles but he won here over fences in September and warrants respect, while Enemy At The Gate is another who has the potential to improve for going up in distance.
CALL ME HARRY confirmed previous promise over hurdles when getting the better of one operating at the top if their game at Musselburgh 3 weeks ago and he could just be worth siding with to come out on top again now he's found his feet. Enemy At The Gate and Beat The Retreat, who rates a likely improver on handicap debut, head up the dangers.
The progressive one is CALL ME HARRY, who won with a bit in hand at Musselburgh and he's taken to follow up from 4lb higher.

1st (7) (5/2 +67%) Gipsy Lee Rose |
5/2(+67%) | (7) Gipsy Lee Rose 5/2, Below par for a while now, including both starts this term. Proving expensive to follow and others preferred. Infrequent winner and isn't the most reliable; held by Without Conviction on latest form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (7/2 -27%) Bretney |
7/2(-27%) | (4) Bretney 7/2, Back to best when winning staying event at Bangor in February. Below par next 2 starts but decent return when third at Ludlow. Won after his reappearance last season so respected. Triple chase winner who shaped as though retaining much of his ability on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (3/1 +14%) Camp Belan |
3/1(+14%) | (2) Camp Belan 3/1, Thorough stayer who got off the mark in this race a year ago off 3 lb higher. Proved inconsistent subsequently, though step back in the right direction when fourth at Wetherby last time. Considered. Won this race last year and shaped as though coming to hand last time; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (15/2 -88%) Without Conviction |
15/2(-88%) | (3) Without Conviction 15/2, Resumed winning ways from a much-reduced mark at Ayr (3m, good) in March and returned to a similar level after 5 months off when neck second here (21.6f, good). Backed that up when runner-up at Hexham and should go well again. Worth a try over this trip and, along with Camp Belan, gives trainer a strong hand. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (7/2 +53%) Conquredalofeurope |
7/2(+53%) | (1) Conquredalofeurope 7/2, Fairly useful chaser who shaped well on first 3 outings for current stable but failed to complete next 2 starts and let down by jumping at Wetherby on return. Ran respectably on reappearance; not won for some time but player down in weights/grade. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Runner-up on both starts this season over shorter, including here, WITHOUT CONVICTION should relish gong back up in trip, having won over three miles at Ayr in March. The extra two furlongs shouldn't be an issue and she gets the vote ahead of her stablemate Camp Belan, who won this contest off a 3lb higher mark last year. Bretney and Sputnik have the form to get involved in proceedings as well.
Lucinda Russell holds a strong hand with CAMP BELAN and Without Conviction, with last year's winner shading the vote. Bretney and Sputnik are also likely players.
Lucinda Russell has a strong hand and her CAMP BELAN (nap) is taken to win this race for the second year in succession.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
