1st (5) (5/2 +38%) Kerryhill |
5/2(+38%) | (5) Kerryhill 5/2, Fetched £115,000 after winning the second of his 2 starts in Irish maiden points. Interesting to see what the market makes of this 5-y-o ahead of his Rules debut. £115,000 sale after Irish point win in April; worth considering on hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/6 +9%) Cadell |
5/6(+9%) | (1) Cadell 5/6, Mahler gelding who went unbeaten in points and produced a promising enough Rules debut when second in an Aintree bumper during the spring. Perfect start over hurdles when landing a 7-runner novice (21f, soft) here on return last month and further progress is likely. Dual point winner; made a winning start over hurdles here last month; penalised; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 -20%) Charlie Uberalles |
6/1(-20%) | (3) Charlie Uberalles 6/1, Made the frame all 3 starts in this sphere and scored twice over fences in 2022. However, entitled to need the run following a 14-month absence and forecast slow surface poses a question (all 6 runs under Rules have been on good ground). Decent form over hurdles and fences in 2022; absent since; good chance if fully wound up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (13/2 -44%) Chance The Robin |
13/2(-44%) | (2) Chance The Robin 13/2, Did little wrong in bumpers and wasn't overly extended when making a winning debut in this sphere at Hexham (23.3f, good to soft) in May. Open to improvement for respected Irish yard and should make his presence felt. Hexham bumper winner; scored over 2m7f on hurdling debut on same course in May; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (250/1 -213%) Glory Hights |
250/1(-213%) | (4) Glory Hights 250/1, Little impact in a bumper/pair of novice hurdles and he's probably more one for handicaps in due course. Modest form in a bumper and two novice hurdles; best watched this time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A comfortable winner here on his hurdles bow last month, there should be plenty more to come from CADELL, and the son of Mahler is entitled to improve for the step up in trip. Charlie Uberalles reverts to hurdles after a comfortable success over the larger obstacles at Perth and he must enter calculations, along with Chance The Robin, who scored in fine style at Hexham back in May.
CADELL created a good impression when making a winning hurdles debut here and, with the promise of better to come, he is taken to maintain his 100% record in this sphere. Chance The Robin also did the job well on his first start over timber and is the clear main danger ahead of point-winner Kerryhill.
The choice is CHARLIE UBERALLES who looked a good prospect last season and is taken to beat Chance The Robin and Cadell.

1st (1) (2/1 -60%) Bollingerandkrug |
2/1(-60%) | (1) Bollingerandkrug 2/1, Bold-jumping gelding who bagged his third C&D victory when making all in 4-runner handicap chase on reappearance 14 days ago. 6 lb higher now but another big run anticipated. Won three of last four races, all C&D; 6lb higher but progressive and a strong contender.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (8/1 +20%) Duty Calls |
8/1(+20%) | (6) Duty Calls 8/1, Seen to good advantage (held up in a strongly-run race) when scoring over C&D in March and was never involved (from 10 lb out of the handicap) behind Bollingerandkrug when last seen in May. Races off correct mark now but generally comes on for his first outing. Two good C&D runs against Bollingerandkrug this year; interesting but lacks a recent run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (14/1 -100%) Hermann Clermont |
14/1(-100%) | (4) Hermann Clermont 14/1, Won twice at Perth for Gordon Elliott last season and posted much his best effort for this yard when third of 6 in handicap chase (10/1) at this course (21.6f, good) 52 days ago. Claims if building on that. Dual chase winner over 3m; fair run over 2m5f latest; this trip and soft ground a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (9/1 +0%) Paddy The Horse |
9/1(+0%) | (3) Paddy The Horse 9/1, Point winner who scored twice over hurdles at Hexham last autumn. Creditable efforts both completed starts in this sphere and, with his final start of last season best overlooked, he can't be ruled out on his return here. Winning pointer/over hurdles; fair efforts both completed chase runs; not without a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (3/1 +57%) Dancewiththewind |
3/1(+57%) | (2) Dancewiththewind 3/1, Twice a winner over hurdles here who shaped as if better for run when fifth of 7 in handicap at Carlisle (15.9f, soft) on debut over fences 23 days ago. Cheekpieces on for first time. Warrants respect. Hurdles/point winner; not in best of form since hurdles win in Feb; headgear now tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (11/4 +21%) Gandhi Maker |
11/4(+21%) | (5) Gandhi Maker 11/4, Off the mark at Newcastle in January and backed that up with decisive victory at Sedgefield (17f) the following month. Back to that sort of form when runner-up at Carlisle (15.9f) latest and remains fairly treated. Dual winner last term; fair form this time but not well treated; cheekpieces tried. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A winner of three of his last four over C&D, BOLLINGERANDKRUG continues to go from strength to strength and a 6lb rise for his most recent victory could prove especially lenient as he drops in grade. The only rival to get the better of him in those four starts is the reopposing Duty Calls in March, but he didn't show much in two subsequent starts. Gandhi Maker went close at Carlisle last time out and should be able to build on that.
BOLLINGERANDKRUG has proved a different proposition since returning to chasing earlier this year and impressed again with his jumping when scoring here a fortnight ago, He is taken to follow up. Gandhi Maker arrives on back of solid effort at Carlisle and is feared most.
Although Duty Calls has a chance he might need the race after a break and preference is for the in-form BOLLINGERANDKRUG (nap).

1st (2) (14/1 -17%) Butler's Brief |
14/1(-17%) | (2) Butler's Brief 14/1, Got back on scoreboard at Uttoxeter in July and proved conclusively that fences aren't for him when pulled up at Worcester in September. Back to form when second at Wetherby last time and can't be completely dismissed. Fair form this year including a win on heavy in July; fair run last time, interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (11/4 +39%) Shoeshine Boy |
11/4(+39%) | (8) Shoeshine Boy 11/4, Latest win in hurdle at Carlisle in April. 3/1, good second of 5 in handicap hurdle at Hexham (23.3f, heavy) 28 days ago, sticking to task. Another bold showing is on the cards. Two wins over 3m plus with give, the latest in April; solid comeback run; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (9/2 +44%) Artic Mann |
9/2(+44%) | (9) Artic Mann 9/2, Last win came at this course back in 2020. Returned from almost 2 years off with a respectable run here a month ago and he's well treated if he can build on that. Back from a break when 2nd over 2m5f here last time; should improve but stamina to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/2 +55%) Lock Down Luke |
9/2(+55%) | (4) Lock Down Luke 9/2, Won twice here in the first half of last season. Respectable sixth at Musselburgh 7 months and should be ready to go, so worthy of respect. 2m winner here in 2022; stays 3m well; goes well fresh so worth considering after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (4/1 -100%) Monochromix |
4/1(-100%) | (3) Monochromix 4/1, Ran to a fair level over hurdles last season and made a positive reappearance when second at Hexham last month. Type to do better still, so makes plenty of appeal. Placed on all 4 jumps starts, including on h'cap debut latest; may improve for longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (10/1 +50%) Cosmic Outlaw |
10/1(+50%) | (6) Cosmic Outlaw 10/1, Didn't kick on after winning over C&D on return last season, looking far from a natural when sent chasing in the spring. Back over hurdles here but others still preferred. Won over C&D on return from a break last October; chance back from another break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (16/1 -113%) Didtheyleaveuoutto |
16/1(-113%) | (1) Didtheyleaveuoutto 16/1, Dropped in grade and with cheekpieces back on, he won for the first time over hurdles since 2018 at Cartmel (22.1f, good to soft) in July. Hasn't fired since and has a bit to prove. Won over 2m6f in July; fair effort next time but below par latest; needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (12/1 +40%) Don Brocco |
12/1(+40%) | (10) Don Brocco 12/1, Back-to-back winner of staying handicaps in February/March 2022 but little impact last season and out of the weights on return. Dual winner over 3m in 2022; below-par last term; fair run in May having had a wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (20/1 -67%) Teescomponentstrig |
20/1(-67%) | (5) Teescomponentstrig 20/1, Opened his account in good style in 23.7f Newcastle handicap hurdle in January 2020. Only seen out twice since and, while he seemed to retain ability when third at Catterick a couple of years ago, there are question marks over him facing another lengthy absence. 2m7f winner in January 2020; could go well but long absence to overcome. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A tentative vote goes to LOCK DOWN LUKE, who has won two of his last three starts around here and gives every indication that he may relish the step up beyond three miles. The son of Lucarno has won fresh before and he is preferred to the unexposed Hexham runner-up Monochromix, as well as Shoeshine Boy, who has been in consistent form more recently. Butler's Brief and Pavlik have the form to get involved too.
MONOCHROMIX has a solid profile and shaped as if he'd come on for the run when second at Hexham on return, so he's fancied to open his account up in trip. Shoeshine Boy is an obvious danger and Pavlik should feature if tuned up after a year off.
A chance is taken on COSMIC OUTLAW who hasn't run since May but won over C&D on his return from a summer break last year.

1st (8) (11/2 +0%) Red Happy |
11/2(+0%) | (8) Red Happy 11/2, Notched up another victory at Exeter 4 weeks ago. Back up in grade for new yard but remains well treated on his peak form. Bought for £34,000 out of David Pipe's yard; acts on any going, stays 3m and a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/4 +8%) Ned Tanner |
11/4(+8%) | (3) Ned Tanner 11/4, Dual hurdles winner who scored twice over fences over further here last season. Should be all the better for his recent Carlisle return in a stronger race and he's a player down in trip. Triple course winner; creditable run on reappearance; goes well on soft; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (7/2 +22%) Return Fire |
7/2(+22%) | (7) Return Fire 7/2, Likeable type and made the most of a good opportunity after 5 months off as he scored at Hexham 5 weeks ago, making all and jumping soundly. This is tougher up 3 lb. 3-9 over fences, latest on soft at Hexham on reappearance; conditions suit; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (12/1 -85%) Just Don't Know |
12/1(-85%) | (2) Just Don't Know 12/1, Dual winner again last term and ran well here (course form figures 212) when last seen in May. Career-high mark to overcome on return but wouldn't dismiss. On a career-high mark but conditions suit and could go well if fit after a break since May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (15/2 +46%) Cardamon Hill |
15/2(+46%) | (5) Cardamon Hill 15/2, Maiden hurdle winner in Ireland for Gordon Elliott. Yet to really fire over fences but is slipping in the weights. 2m6f hurdle winner for Gordon Elliott; fair efforts over fences for this yard; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (11/1 +31%) High Moon |
11/1(+31%) | (4) High Moon 11/1, Fairly useful hurdles winner who was in good form over fences towards the end of last season, scoring in determined fashion at Newcastle. Probably needed the run after 6 months off at Carlisle and is likely to be much closer to form here. One to note. Won on eighth start over fences last term; pulled up on comeback; needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (10/3 +5%) Massini Man |
10/3(+5%) | (6) Massini Man 10/3, Thrived after joining this yard from John Groucott last season, scoring twice in handicap chases at Musselburgh at up to 3m. Promising return at Carlisle (2m) and should be spot on now with that behind him. Progressive over fences for this stable last season; sound comeback run; one with a chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Plenty arrive here with live chances but it's RED HAPPY who is fancied to follow up his win over 2m3f at Exeter. The six-year-old is having his first run for trainer George Bewley and there might be more to come. Fellow last-time-out winner Return Fire is also fancied to offer a bold bid after scoring readily over 2m4f at Hexham, while Just Don't Know should also be thereabouts.
MASSINI MAN should be spot on with his Carlisle return behind him and could be the way to go back up in trip here. Ned Tanner and Just Don't Know are a couple of others to consider.

1st (3) (11/4 +61%) Gentleman De Mai |
11/4(+61%) | (3) Gentleman De Mai 11/4, Fair hurdle winner who showed similar form over fences last season, signing off with a fair fifth of 13 in handicap chase at Perth (30.6f, soft) in Aprill. Tongue strap on 1st time. Possibilities. Lightly raced 7yo; shaped promisingly when second in first two chases; firmly in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/4 +36%) No Regrets |
9/4(+36%) | (5) No Regrets 9/4, Notched a second success over fences when landing 3m Hexham handicap in June. Solid third back from a break at Southwell last time so he's on the shortlist. In good form in 3m chases; should be thereabouts but younger rivals have more potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 -25%) Had To Be Hugo |
4/1(-25%) | (4) Had To Be Hugo 4/1, Runner-up sole outing in points and has made an encouraging start over hurdles, making the frame on each of his 4 starts. One to consider now going over fences. Went close on several occasions over hurdles; should make a chaser; another to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (5/1 +33%) Warriors Story |
5/1(+33%) | (6) Warriors Story 5/1, Stepped up on his chase debut when going close at Ayr (20.5f, good to soft) last December. Runner-up again back hurdling here in April, but followed that with a poor effort and has since undergone a second wind op. More than capable on his day; folded tamely when last seen but has had wind op since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (5/1 -150%) Prince Des Fichaux |
5/1(-150%) | (2) Prince Des Fichaux 5/1, Fair maiden over hurdles who took well to fences last term, landing 10-runner handicap chase at Ffos Las (25.3f, good to soft) in April on his final run for Sam Thomas. Considered for his new handler. Took well to fences in the spring, winning at Ffos Las; has joined an in-form stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
DE LEGISLATOR struggled to seriously threaten in Grade 2 company when last seen at Haydock in February and he is fancied to make his presence felt back in these calmer waters. Lucinda Russell's charge makes his handicap/chase debut and he looks the one to beat. Prince Des Fichaux is also respected after scoring at Ffos Las in April, while Gentleman De Mai isn't easily ignored.
None of these can be ruled out but Lucinda Russell's winning pointer DE LEGISLATOR made a very promising start over hurdles last term and is fancied to go in at the first time of asking over fences here. Prince des Fichaux has experience on his side and rates a big threat starting out for Ewan Whillans, with No Regrets also well in the mix for the in-form Nicky Richards yard.
Chasing debutant DE LEGISLATOR has stacks of untapped potential and could defy top weight with a clear round.

7/2(-40%) | (2) Eloi Du Puy 7/2, Has improved since switched to handicaps, off the mark back from 5 months off over C&D 5 weeks ago by 1¼ lengths from Strike of Lighting. Should go well again. Fended off Strike Of Lighting to score over C&D last month; 3lb not excessive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (5/1 +38%) Eden Mill |
5/1(+38%) | (12) Eden Mill 5/1, Modest maiden who was possibly amiss at Perth in April. Off since. Good third at Carlisle in March but ended last season with a poor performance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (7/1 +13%) Millie Of Mayo |
7/1(+13%) | (7) Millie Of Mayo 7/1, Stood little racing since completing a hat-trick in 2020. Backward step when seventh of 11 in handicap hurdle at Perth (23.9f, good) 84 days ago. Headgear on 1st time but others more solid. Lurks on a very good mark but needs a revival and is best suited by good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (16/1 -14%) Ballyquin Bay |
16/1(-14%) | (3) Ballyquin Bay 16/1, Fair maiden hurdler for Gordon Elliott but just the one decent effort for this yard. Others more persuasive. Safely held on all four starts for new stable this season and now 0-12 over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/2 +50%) Shantou Moon |
11/2(+50%) | (5) Shantou Moon 11/2, Backed at long odds equipped with first-time cheekpieces and ran out a clear winner of a handicap hurdle here in February. Followed that with a couple of creditable efforts in defeat before let down by jumping on chase bow final start. Off 6 months. Well beaten on chasing debut in May but was in good form over hurdles beforehand. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (15/2 -88%) Strike Of Lighting |
15/2(-88%) | (10) Strike Of Lighting 15/2, Belatedly gained first taste of success at Cartmel in May and as good as ever when 1¼ lengths second of 6 to Eloi Du Puy in handicap hurdle at this C&D (soft) 34 days ago. 2 lb better off with winner and enters calculations. Not particularly reliable, but ran well in defeat over C&D last month; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (6/1 +50%) Ginger Pointe |
6/1(+50%) | (11) Ginger Pointe 6/1, Maiden Irish pointer who has shown just modest form at best over hurdles thus far, failing to justify support over a new trip when fifth at Perth (23.9f, good) 6 months ago. Big step forward required to get involved. 0-8 over hurdles and needs to find something extra on this first start for six months. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (8/1 -33%) Carrigeen Castle |
8/1(-33%) | (1) Carrigeen Castle 8/1, Just poor form over hurdles in Ireland and has a 19-month absence to overcome on debut for new stable. Easy enough to oppose. 0-6 over hurdles in Ireland but won a point in February; Hughes booked for stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (40/1 -43%) Point Of Honour |
40/1(-43%) | (8) Point Of Honour 40/1, Modest handicapper on Flat (stays 1¾m), winning at Catterick in July. Regular rider retained and showed some aptitude for hurdling starting out at Market Rasen but well held completed start since. In touch and going okay before unseating rider on handicap debut, but others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (20/1 +20%) Boundsy Boy |
20/1(+20%) | (4) Boundsy Boy 20/1, Off the mark in a 15.8f Huntingdon handicap in February and runner-up 3 times since. By no means disgraced starting out for this yard when fifth at Sedgefield but ran no sort of race here 2 weeks ago. Ran quite well on last month's stable debut but tailed off since; up in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (66/1 -313%) Pure Surf |
66/1(-313%) | (6) Pure Surf 66/1, Looked as good as ever when scoring at Cartmel in June and ran at least as well under a 7-lb penalty when second at Southwell (20.4f, good to soft). Shaped like a non-stayer there (3m) next time. Off 4 months and first run for yard after leaving Iain Jardine. Tongue strap back on. Won for Iain Jardine in June; left that stable after run effort in July; hard to predict. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (100/1 -100%) Internet Biddy |
100/1(-100%) | (9) Internet Biddy 100/1, Just modest form at best in 2 bumpers but shaped better than the distance beaten suggests sent hurdling when fourth at Lingfield (2m). However, jumped erratically when well held both starts since. Off 7 months. First run for yard after leaving Fergal O'Brien. Did not look straightforward in qualifying races for Fergal O'Brien; stable/handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ELOI DU PUY can be marked up for his win over C&D last time after racing keenly and clattering into the final hurdle, so he could be difficult to beat. Nick Alexander's runner has been raised 3lb in the ratings for that success which doesn't appear out of his reach. The reopposing Strike Of Lighting (second) is feared most now 2lb better off with the selection, while Shantou Moon completes the shortlist.
ELOI DU PUY and Strike of Lighting looked better than ever when first and second over C&D 5 weeks ago and they can come out on top again, the former taken to confirm the placings despite a 2 lb swing. Shantou Moon is best of the others back over hurdles.
He didn't take to chasing on his latest outing but SHANTOU MOON is of interest if judged on his earlier hurdling form.

1st (7) (5/2 +50%) Secret Secret |
5/2(+50%) | (7) Secret Secret 5/2, Picked up for only £1,500 after failing to click in 3 starts for Neil Mulholland but capitalised on a falling mark after 6 months off at Cartmel (22.1f, soft) on yard debut in August. Backed that up when fifth of 19 in handicap hurdle (10/3) at Carlisle (20f, soft) 16 days ago. Won on stable debut in August and also ran well at Carlisle last month; high on the list. |

2nd (8) (14/1 -40%) September Daisy |
14/1(-40%) | (8) September Daisy 14/1, Showed improved form to get off the mark from 6 lb out of the weights at Hexham in May and shaped as if needing run on comeback there 5 weeks ago. Better expected now. Won 16-runner Hexham handicap in May and might have needed her recent run there. |

6th (5) (8/1 +33%) Bella Bluesky |
8/1(+33%) | (5) Bella Bluesky 8/1, Opened hurdles account here in February 2022 and looked set double her tally following a wind op back at this course (21f, soft) last month, only for a lack of peak fitness to tell late on. However, proved a big disappointment back here 2 weeks ago. Back up in trip. Has rather mixed record over hurdles but ran well over C&D last month. |

7th (11) (40/1 +0%) Getaway Gerry |

8th (3) (14/1 -17%) Lincoln Burrows |
14/1(-17%) | (3) Lincoln Burrows 14/1, Maiden Irish pointer who showed significant improvement in making a successful handicap hurdle debut at Newcastle in April. Shaped as if amiss sent chasing after 6 months off at Carlisle 23 days ago but remains of interest back over hurdles. Won on handicap hurdle debut in April; didn't get far on recent chasing debut. |

9th (6) (22/1 -22%) Bollin Matilda |
22/1(-22%) | (6) Bollin Matilda 22/1, Has hinted at ability and may do better now handicapping after 6 months off. Showed no more than minor promise in three qualifying runs; may do better in handicaps. |

|F| (2) (10/1 -67%) So They Say |
10/1(-67%) | (2) So They Say 10/1, Winning pointer who hinted at promise when fourth of 5 in novice hurdle at Kelso (22.7f, 5/1) on her NH debut. Similar form when third at Newcastle next time and off since (20 months) but opening mark looks a fair one. Point winner; not seen since two hurdle runs in February 2022 but remains very unexposed. |

10th (10) (10/1 +0%) Konik King |
10/1(+0%) | (10) Konik King 10/1, Poor form over hurdles/fences but wasn't disgraced back over hurdles when fourth here (18f) last time and mark eases once again. Ran quite well when switched back to hurdling here in September but now 0-14 overall. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Positive market vibes for Irish raider Joker Du Chenet could be significant, a comment which also applies to fellow handicap debutant So They Say, who has had wind surgery since her two moderate runs in February last year. All that said, it may pay to stick with HEADSCARF LIL, who handled testing conditions really well when just touched off over 3m at Perth in September.
SO THEY SAY has a lengthy absence to overcome but her opening mark looks a fair one so she could be worth chancing. Headscarf Lil was only just edged out at Perth so is next best ahead of Secret Secret, who has made a positive start for this yard.
The suggestion is SECRET SECRET, who won on his stable debut in August and did well to finish fifth in a big field last month.

2nd (4) (5/1 -43%) Heart Above |
5/1(-43%) | (4) Heart Above 5/1, Built on an encouraging start at Ayr when second over C&D 6 months ago. That's the best piece of form on show, so major player if he's tuned up. Shaped nicely both starts last season, beaten 1l here in April; makes the shortlist. |

6th (12) (10/1 -233%) Presently |
10/1(-233%) | (12) Presently 10/1, Built on mildly promising start when second at Uttoxeter for Daniel & Claire Kubler 106 days ago. Likely to take step forward, so could make a winning debut for top northern stable. Similar form in frame at Bangor/Uttoxeter; new stable today; another with possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (33/1 +34%) Bowler Jack |
33/1(+34%) | (2) Bowler Jack 33/1, Failed to beat a rival at Ayr first time out a year ago, so hard to make any sort of case for. Stoutly bred; last at Ayr over a year ago; likely to come into his own over longer trips. |

150/1(-127%) | (7) Nae Bother At A' 150/1, No show over C&D 6 months ago and looks set for another struggle. Bred for longer trips in due course and well held on debut here in the spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (14/1 -180%) Northern Cardinal |
14/1(-180%) | (8) Northern Cardinal 14/1, Went with enthusiasm when third over C&D 6 months ago. More to come, but has plenty to find with a couple of his rivals. Third here in April, making much of running; should be in the thick of things once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (80/1 -100%) Norse Reiver |
80/1(-100%) | (11) Norse Reiver 80/1, Norse Dancer filly. Dam (c102/h114), 2½m-25f hurdle winner, closely related to useful hurdler (stayed 3m) Clova Island. By Norse Dancer; yard has the odd bumper winner and this newcomer has a plausible pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (100/1 -100%) Knight Of Magic |
100/1(-100%) | (5) Knight Of Magic 100/1, €1,000 4-y-o, Decorated Knight gelding. Dam unraced. Doesn't make much appeal on paper. 1,000euros 4yo; yard has modest strike-rate (1-61) in bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) (100/1 -100%) Flying Sandpiper |
100/1(-100%) | (3) Flying Sandpiper 100/1, Related to a bumper winner but not enough to encouragement over C&D on debut to make him of serious interest 6 months on. Too green to do himself justice here on debut; improvement is possible but necessary. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (10) (250/1 -400%) Bettybea |
250/1(-400%) | (10) Bettybea 250/1, And Beyond filly. Half-sister to 7f winner Alifax. Dam 9f winner. Doesn't make much appeal on paper. Flat-bred filly; yard 0-14 in bumpers in the last five seasons; others make more appeal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Presently showed plenty of promise in successive bumpers in the summer and has to be respected after a switch to Donald McCain's yard, but preference is for Irish raider AL KALILA, who caught the eye when a good third behind two subsequent winners at Perth first time out. Heart Above, a runner-up here in the spring, looks the pick of the remainder.
PRESENTLY improved when second at Uttoxeter last time and, with further progress expected for her new yard, she gets the nod ahead of Heart Above, who has actually achieved slightly more to this point. Al Kalila is also worthy of consideration.
The vote goes to AL KALILA who can build on an encouraging debut when conceding an experience advantage to the pair that beat him.
Ths is the racecard key.
