1st (4) (16/5 -7%) Laser Focus |
16/5(-7%) | (4) Laser Focus 16/5, Three-time winner on the Flat this year and has shown a fair bit over hurdles. Unseated on the bend early at Fakenham a fortnight ago when well backed. One to consider. 0-16 over hurdles but Newton Abbot fourth in August was a good effort; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (5/2 +44%) Well Done Dani |
5/2(+44%) | (6) Well Done Dani 5/2, Landed a 14-runner handicap hurdle at Kelso (2¼m) in September that produced winners and ran creditably over this trip at Hereford next time. Rider's 8 lb claim will help now and she could be in the mix. Placed off today's mark since her Kelso win in September; likely contender again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/2 -38%) Graffiti |
11/2(-38%) | (3) Graffiti 11/2, Went close a few times on the Flat earlier in the year and may yet do better in this sphere, left poorly placed on his return from 4 months off in a similar event at Fontwell in August. Upped in trip back from another break now. Could figure if he stays. Consistent on the Flat this year and ran well in defeat when back over hurdles in August. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (7/2 -5%) Jack The Savage |
7/2(-5%) | (5) Jack The Savage 7/2, Mixed bag since scoring in 2m handicap hurdle here a year ago but last week's Hereford run upped to this trip (well backed) was one of his better efforts. Player if backing that up now fitted with cheekpieces. Won here last year and returns after running well in defeat last week; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (15/2 +25%) Poker Master |
15/2(+25%) | (1) Poker Master 15/2, Little impact in 3 runs over fences, including on recent reappearance, but a 5-time winner over hurdles, 4 of those victories coming here, so he's not without interest in first-time cheekpieces. Course specialist; chasing did not go to plan but he reverts to hurdling on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (11/1 +0%) Thahab Ifraj |
11/1(+0%) | (2) Thahab Ifraj 11/1, Won at Exeter in October 2023 and went close in that corresponding race this time around. Folded tamely at Kempton since, however, and he's hard to catch right. Good second at Exeter last month but a heavy defeat followed; younger rivals appeal more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Graffiti made a pleasing return to this sphere when filling the runner-up spot in his grade at Fontwell in August, but this step up in distance is a slight concern. With that in mind, JACK THE SAVAGE gets the nod. Laura Horsfall's seven-year-old was far from disgraced in second at Hereford earlier in the month and goes off an unchanged mark. With a repeat of that performance, he could prove tough to beat. Well Done Dani is another to consider.
LASER FOCUS came down early on the level at Fakenham a fortnight ago and is worth another chance as he surely has a race over hurdles in him. Jack The Savage is a player, while a revival from Poker Master back at the scene of his best days could be on the cards.
Course winner JACK THE SAVAGE returns here after running well in defeat at Hereford last week and might be the answer.

1st (2) (2/1 -23%) Global Esteem |
2/1(-23%) | (2) Global Esteem 2/1, Scored on Flat at Sandown and over hurdles at Market Rasen (2m) in August. Not at his best when 15 lengths third in 2m Ludlow handicap hurdle last month but a bold show looks assured in this lower grade. Flat/hurdle winner this summer; again ran well when placed at Ludlow last month; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (6/1 +25%) Tara Iti |
6/1(+25%) | (5) Tara Iti 6/1, Successful off higher marks but has been much more miss than hit in recent times. This is a bit easier but others look more solid. Placed in this grade in May but safely held on next two outings; back from a break today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (18/1 -50%) King Otis |
18/1(-50%) | (4) King Otis 18/1, Successful twice at Fakenham at the beginning of the season but recent efforts not so inspiring, finishing a remote fourth in a C&D claimer only 9 days ago. A change of headgear (first-time visor for cheekpieces) needs to spark him back to life. Began season with string of good runs but has suffered very worrying slump in form lately. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (3/1 +40%) Stormin Crossgales |
3/1(+40%) | (1) Stormin Crossgales 3/1, Course chase winner in May. Respectable fourth in 2m Wincanton handicap hurdle last month (final start for Tom George). The stable has done well with new recruits this season. Chase winner for Tom George here in May and ran quite well over hurdles for him last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (85/40 +29%) Star Legend |
85/40(+29%) | (3) Star Legend 85/40, Runner-up twice over hurdles in June and also performed with credit when fourth in Stratford handicap hurdle in July. Ran poorly on AW Flat at Newcastle recently but no surprise were he to bounce back now. In good form over hurdles in early part of season and had excuse for recent Flat defeat. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Global Esteem was well held in third at Ludlow last month, but he takes a drop in grade which can see him get closer. Even so, STAR LEGEND looks the one to be on. James Owen's five-year-old finished a fair fourth at Stratford when last seen in this sphere in July and goes off the same mark. It would be no surprise to see him regain the winning thread, while Stormin Crossgales is another to note.
GLOBAL ESTEEM is quite classy for this level and is the one to beat. The Pogsons' have turned around a few from other yards this season and their new recruit Stormin Crossgales might give the selection most to think about.
Keen-going front-runners Global Esteem and Stormin Crossgales might combine to set this race up nicely for STAR LEGEND.

---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1st (1) (7/2 -27%) The Wolf |
7/2(-27%) | (1) The Wolf 7/2, Temperamental sort but he recorded a creditable second of 6 in handicap chase at Southwell (24.3f, good to soft) 161 days ago, albeit soon off the bridle. Visor goes back on but others are still preferred. Regressive and inconsistent nowadays but will be dangerous if in right mood after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/10 +20%) Special Acceptance |
11/10(+20%) | (4) Special Acceptance 11/10, Not the easiest to win with but made the frame on 5 of his 6 starts for Paul Webber last season and also came in a clear runner-up in 3m Uttoxeter handicap for his new yard last month. Big shout off an unchanged mark. Has modest strike-rate but was clear second to a big improver on recent stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (12/1 -200%) Super Citizen |
12/1(-200%) | (3) Super Citizen 12/1, Bettered recent efforts when a good second of 9 in hunter chase at Kelso (26.2f, soft) 170 days ago. In the mix with cheekpieces back on and Brian Hughes now up. Second in Kelso hunter chase in the spring; needs to prove he's worth his new mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (33/1 +34%) Ballywood |
33/1(+34%) | (6) Ballywood 33/1, Useful chaser at his peak for Alan King but well beaten so far over both sets of obstacles for his current yard. Cheekpieces are tried for the first time. Back from mammoth absence with four heavy defeats for new stable this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (4/1 +64%) Innisfree Lad |
4/1(+64%) | (5) Innisfree Lad 4/1, A fairly useful 3m winner who comes here on the back of a respectable seventh of 13 in handicap chase at Chepstow (23.6f, good to soft) 32 days ago. Firmly in the picture off a 3 lb lower mark with visor back on. Thorough stayer; hard to predict nowadays but too well handicapped to rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (8/1 +33%) Breaking Waves |
8/1(+33%) | (2) Breaking Waves 8/1, Untrustworthy individual who has followed his Uttoxeter victory in June with a trio of lesser efforts. Others make more appeal for win purposes. Out of form since hurdle win in June; contests his first chase since 2021. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SUPER CITIZEN did well to get as close as he did when finishing second at Kelso in May. Lucinda Hughes' veteran has Brian Hughes booked on this occasion and he could prove hard to beat. The Wolf hit the woodwork in this grade at Southwell in June and could get into contention, while Special Acceptance is another to take seriously after his second at Uttoxeter last month.
SPECIAL ACCEPTANCE rates the pick of the weights on the back of a very good Uttoxeter second for his new yard last month so looks the way to go. Innisfree Lad has been given some respite by the official assessor and is next on the list, with Super Citizen also in the mix with Brian Hughes now in the saddle.
Clear second to a heavily backed chasing debutant last month, SPECIAL ACCEPTANCE can go one better off the same mark here.

1st (1) (1/4 +25%) Leloopa |
1/4(+25%) | (1) Leloopa 1/4, Irish import who has improved with each of her 3 starts since switched to hurdles for new yard, off the mark when making all in a Hereford mares' maiden hurdle (16.2f, good) last month. Likely she will prove hard to beat under a penalty here. Made all in Hereford maiden last month and has been found another modest race here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (12/1 -9%) A Little Something |
12/1(-9%) | (2) A Little Something 12/1, Offered little in 3 points and yet to trouble the judge in as many starts under Rules, coming home 14½ lengths fifth of 10 to Leloopa at Hereford last month. Minor place money is the most likely scenario. Behind Leloopa on first two hurdling starts but positives can be drawn from those runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (33/1 -50%) Granny B |
33/1(-50%) | (4) Granny B 33/1, Fair winner on the Flat and while she has done the majority of her racing over sprint distances, stamina didn't appear to be an issue at the second attempt in this sphere when sixth in a Ludlow novice (15.8f, good to soft). Place possibilities if able to build on that. 5f winner in 2023; latest run was respectable but stamina doubts remain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (13/2 -18%) Nobody's Perfect |
13/2(-18%) | (5) Nobody's Perfect 13/2, Made the frame twice in bumpers and, though she has failed to shine in a couple of maidens since switched to hurdles, this race lacks strength in depth and she's a strong candidate for place money. Yard also saddles Spinnova. Made the frame in two of her three bumpers and was not disgraced on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (22/1 +56%) Spinnova |
22/1(+56%) | (6) Spinnova 22/1, No show in a couple of bumpers for Paul Webber during the spring and significant improvement will be needed now hurdling for new yard if she's to make an impact. Well down the field in two spring bumpers; makes stable/hurdle debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (125/1 -89%) County Royal |
125/1(-89%) | (3) County Royal 125/1, Low-key in a couple of bumpers and pulled on recent hurdles debut here. Pulled up when 150-1 for recent hurdling debut here (2m3f). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LELOOPA impressed when scoring with the minimum of fuss over 2m at Hereford last month, and she should prove tough to stop with a reproduction of that effort. Granny B remains unexposed over hurdles and is expected to better her sixth over 2m at Ludlow last month. Fifth behind the selection last time out, A Little Something will need to find more.
LELOOPA is presented with a golden opportunity to add to last month's breakthrough success at Hereford. The one for the forecast may be Nobody's Perfect, though Granny B is also a candidate for minor honours.
This looks another good opportunity for LELOOPA, who made all in a Hereford maiden last month.

1st (3) (5/6 +33%) Camino Rocio |
5/6(+33%) | (3) Camino Rocio 5/6, Had the look of a modest maiden prior to making a winning debut in a first-time visor under an attacking ride recently at Wincanton (20.2f, good). 7 lb rise manageable and he's clearly the one to beat. Won readily from the front on recent stable debut at Wincanton; can progress again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/4 -22%) Lunar Ocean |
11/4(-22%) | (4) Lunar Ocean 11/4, Bettered previous form when third in first-time cheekpieces on final start for Paul Webber in May, finishing third of 9 in a Market Rasen handicap hurdle. Further progress sent chasing on return/debut for new yard over 19.2f there (good) last month and should make his presence felt. Good start to chasing career when second on last month's stable debut; likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (28/1 -40%) Fromposttopillar |
28/1(-40%) | (5) Fromposttopillar 28/1, Poor form over hurdles and hasn't fared any better in this sphere so far. Yet to show anything more than minor promise after four chasing starts; back from break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (50/1 -100%) Hazard Collonges |
50/1(-100%) | (1) Hazard Collonges 50/1, Would have every chane if reproducing something akin to 2022 form for Alan King but ran poorly on first start under Rules for some time in a hunter chase in March. 0-9 in points either side of that and he's hard to recommend. Pulled up when 200-1 for Ludlow hunter chase on latest rules start; far too risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/2 +63%) Rockwiththetimes |
9/2(+63%) | (2) Rockwiththetimes 9/2, Got off the mark in Irish points at second attempt but only minor promise in handful of hurdle outings and chase debut at Taunton when last seen in April wasn't inspiring either. Still unexposed under rules but was safely held in first two handicaps (hurdle/chase). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RO| (6) (18/1 -414%) My Mate Polly |
18/1(-414%) | (6) My Mate Polly 18/1, No promise in bumpers and poor form over hurdles but she stepped up considerably when third from 7 lb out of the handicap on chase debut at Exeter (17.5f, good to soft) 3 weeks ago. Entitled to have a say here, provided she is able to build on that display. 0-10 over hurdles but belied 100-1 odds when staying-on third on recent chasing debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CAMINO ROCIO appeared to appreciate the application of a visor (retained) when running out a ready winner over 2m4f at Wincanton last month, and the suspicion is that a 7lb rise may not be enough to anchor him. Lunar Ocean shaped with plenty of credit when finishing runner-up on his chasing debut over 2m3f at Market Rasen recently and he must enter calculations off an unchanged mark. My Mate Polly is also noteworthy.
If CAMINO ROCIO is in a similar mood as when landing a gamble at Wincanton on debut for this yard 16 days ago he will prove a tough nut to crack. My Mate Polly and Lunar Ocean both performed with credit on their chase debuts and are feared most in that order of preference.
This can go to CAMINO ROCIO (nap), who dominated a fairly competitive race for the grade on his recent stable debut.

1st (2) (1/1 +33%) Norman Fletcher |
1/1(+33%) | (2) Norman Fletcher 1/1, Showed fairly useful form when landing a maiden/novice last winter. Failed to fire first 2 starts in handicaps but right back on the up when runner-up at Cheltenham 18 days ago. Should take the beating. Dual novice winner last season; looked unlucky when close second at Cheltenham last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (10/3 -105%) Black Hawk Eagle |
10/3(-105%) | (3) Black Hawk Eagle 10/3, Fairly useful Flat/hurdles winner for Noel Meade who made a good start to life in Britain, winning 2m handicaps at Wincanton and Hereford last winter. Back on track when third at Ffos Las on return last month, so deserves respect. Creditable third in Welsh Champion Hurdle last month; has same mark for this easier race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/1 +42%) Douglas Dc |
7/1(+42%) | (5) Douglas Dc 7/1, Fair handicapper who arrives on the back of creditable efforts over 2m at Worcester and Wincanton in recent months. Not dismissed. Arrives in good form after another good effort yesterday; needs a bit more for the win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/1 +56%) Enthused |
11/1(+56%) | (1) Enthused 11/1, Most likeable sort who gained a sixth hurdle success when seeing off 7 rivals over 2m at Plumpton in September. Has struggle for form since, though. Career-best effort when winning in September but form has slumped lately. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5/1 +38%) Klitschko |
5/1(+38%) | (4) Klitschko 5/1, Debut bumper winner and looked to be going the right way over hurdles, successful at Plumpton in February 2023. Not quite on his game when last seen but starts out for new yard on a handy mark after 6 months off. Makes seasonal/stable debut from a workable mark but has more to prove than some. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
NORMAN FLETCHER was narrowly denied under this rider when he returned from a break with a good second-placed finish at Cheltenham last month and must have every chance of going one better this time. Black Hawk Eagle has a similar profile to the selection and is another must for consideration, while Klitschko is respected off a competitive mark on his debut for a new yard.
NORMAN FLETCHER resumed progress when an excellent second at Cheltenham 18 days ago and he should be up to going one better in this lesser contest. Black Hawk Eagle is the main danger and Klitschko is worth a market check starting out for a new yard.
Black Hawk Eagle and NORMAN FLETCHER both ran well in competitive handicaps on their seasonal debuts and may fight this out.

1st (4) (5/4 +64%) Lady Tadita |
5/4(+64%) | (4) Lady Tadita 5/4, Masterstroke filly. Half-sister to fairly useful hurdler Gitche Gumee and fair 2m hurdle winner Mythical Moon. Highly respected on debut. Has good pedigree for bumpers and her stable does well in these races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/2 +0%) Do Wah Diddy |
7/2(+0%) | (2) Do Wah Diddy 7/2, Jack Hobbs filly. Dam, placed once from 3 starts in bumpers, half-sister to smart hurdler (stayed 3m) Colin's Sister. Makes plenty of appeal on paper. First foal; dam runner-up in bumper, half-sister to smart hurdler Colin's Sister. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (15/8 -7%) Noble Miss |
15/8(-7%) | (1) Noble Miss 15/8, Related to numerous winners on the Flat and made the ideal start in this sphere when landing a 13-runner bumper over C&D a month ago. May do better, so worth respecting. Flat-bred filly who kept on well for narrow C&D win on debut last month; obvious contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (12/1 +14%) Playaway Girl |
12/1(+14%) | (7) Playaway Girl 12/1, Stepped up on debut when third at Market Rasen a month ago but will need a more substantial step forward if she's to take this. Safely held on first two starts; improvement required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (125/1 -25%) Gaelic Choir |
125/1(-25%) | (3) Gaelic Choir 125/1, Failed to beat a rival at Stratford 12 days ago and looks firmly up against it again. Struggled to get competitive when a big-priced outsider at Stratford 12 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The gutsy winner of a similar event over this C&D last month, NOBLE MISS showed a good attitude when popped a question and that attribute can stand her in good stead under a penalty. Given that Playaway Girl and Gaelic Choir need to improve, perhaps Jamie Snowden's newcomer Lady Tadita, who is a half-sister to a bumper winner, can give the selection the most think about.
LADY TADITA represents a stable going well and should have enough pace for this sort of test, so a chance is taken on her to make a winning start. Recent C&D winner Noble Miss is an obvious player and Do Wah Diddy can play a part.
Rae Guest's filly NOBLE MISS has a penalty to shoulder but she won a shade cosily over C&D last month and might be up to the task.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
