1st (4) (11/4 +8%) Kankin |
11/4(+8%) | (4) Kankin 11/4, Showed plenty of ability both starts in bumpers and looked on a fair opening mark when third on handicap hurdle debut at Warwick (19f) back in May. Goes chasing now back from 6 months off and the betting may well prove a useful guide. Placed in only handicap over hurdles and entitled to make his presence felt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/3 -11%) Foxey |
10/3(-11%) | (5) Foxey 10/3, Flat-bred gelding who made it eighth time lucky over hurdles when landing 7-runner Newton Abbot handicap (18.5f) 4 weeks ago, making all. Fact he arrives in good heart a plus now chasing so one to consider. Won selling handicap hurdle last time; not bred for fences but hard to discount. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 +17%) Star Flyer |
5/1(+17%) | (2) Star Flyer 5/1, Reached the frame in 2 bumpers and fair form at best over hurdles, best effort when third on qualifying run at Newcastle (20.3f) in January. Mixed bag in trio of starts thereafter but certainly not one to dismiss out of hand now chasing on return to action. Best hurdle form was in novices; bred to raise his game over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (8/1 +56%) Jacks Touch |
8/1(+56%) | (1) Jacks Touch 8/1, Displayed a fair level of form on 2 of his 3 starts in maiden hurdles but failed to improve for switch to handicaps during the spring, losing touch some way out when ninth of 14 over 21f at Warwick in May. Betting may prove the best guide now chasing. Hurdling promise; low mileage for an 8yo and she's bred to make a chaser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (13/2 +0%) Calvic |
13/2(+0%) | (6) Calvic 13/2, Point winner who reached the frame in maiden/novice hurdles around 2m this summer. His 19.5f Bangor handicap debut last month was disappointing, though. Chase debut. Retains potential after just three hurdles runs and there are chasers in the family. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (6/1 -71%) Out The Glen |
6/1(-71%) | (3) Out The Glen 6/1, Three-time winner in 2021-22 who quickly dispelled a lesser effort returned to positive tactics when second of 8 in a C&D handicap back in May. Cheekpieces worn then again reached for here and his chase experience edge/good record here should count for plenty. Just missed out in first-time cheekpieces over C&D on final appearance in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (10/1 +9%) Heritier De Sivola |
10/1(+9%) | (7) Heritier De Sivola 10/1, Maiden Irish pointer who showed improved form when making all in a novice handicap hurdle at Kelso (22.5f) in December. Surpassed that form in defeat next 2 starts and likely he'll strip fitter for his reappearance effort over hurdles at Carlisle 11 days ago. Chase debut. Respected on best hurdle form but has been off colour the last twice. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Runner-up over C&D last time out and a winner here twice before, OUT THE GLEN must hold every chance if building upon that effort. The son of Millenary is now back down to his last winning mark and he should have too much for easy Newton Abbot scorer Foxey, as well as Kankin, who has been placed on five of his six career starts.
The betting promises to prove informative with six of the seven making their chase debuts but KANKIN boasted a steadily progressive profile for one at this level over hurdles and he could just be worth chancing to come out on top without the benefit of market clues. The Olly Murphy trained pair Foxey and Out The Glen head up the dangers, with Star Flyer another to keep an eye on.
Only Out The Glen has chasing experience. KANKIN was placed in his only handicap over hurdles and he edges preference.

Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
