1st (5) (8/1 +33%) Ratoute Yutty |
8/1(+33%) | (5) Ratoute Yutty 8/1, Dual winner over C&D last year and arrives on back of respectable fifth of 9 in Strathord handicap (26.4f, good) 8 days ago. 5 lb out of the weights but can make presence felt. Has struggled this year but bit better latest and two C&D wins last spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3/1 -33%) Jack The Farmer |
3/1(-33%) | (4) Jack The Farmer 3/1, Remains a maiden after 16 NH runs but has made the frame in all 3 starts for Nigel Hawke, latest when creditable third of 10 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (23.3f, good to soft) 9 days ago. Not taken lightly. Narrow defeats in latest two starts (behind Catuaba in the first); every chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (14/1 -180%) Tel'Art |
14/1(-180%) | (1) Tel'Art 14/1, Fair winner at 3¼m over hurdles for Ben Pauling and posted some respectable efforts in hunter chases for this yard last spring. Been more miss than hit since but ran well over C&D in February and can't be ruled out. Well held in chases the last twice but repeat of C&D second in February points to chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4.5/1 -80%) Whenitrainsitpours |
4.5/1(-80%) | (3) Whenitrainsitpours 4.5/1, Still looking for first success and was below best form when fourth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Ludlow (23.8f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Remains fairly treated, though, and not discounted. Unfortunate two starts ago but disappointed latest; needs to leave that behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (1.1/1 +63%) Catuaba |
1.1/1(+63%) | (2) Catuaba 1.1/1, Found improvement when winning 10-runner handicap hurdle at Warwick (25f, good to soft) 28 days ago by ½ length from Jack The Farmer, finding extra. 5 lb rise fair and looks sure to go well again. Beat Jack The Farmer narrowly at Warwick on handicap debut; probably more to offer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CATUABA had Jack The Farmer (second) half a length behind when scoring at Warwick earlier in the month and that was his first start in a handicap, so he could have much more to come off 5lb higher. The son of Jet Away appears to have lots in his favour once more and he looks the one to side with. Whenitrainsitpours failed to justify favouritism last time at Ludlow, but he is 2lb lower now and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back.
Preference is for CATUABA, who is still low mileage and upped his game when making a successful handicap bow at Warwick earlier this month. Jack The Farmer rates the principal danger.
Back hurdling on ground that will suit, TEL'ART makes most appeal in a tight race.

1st (2) (3/1 +14%) Chess Player |
3/1(+14%) | (2) Chess Player 3/1, Showed improved form when scoring on chase debut at Worcester last July. Not in same form since but was a bit better than the result last time and could be primed for a big run after 8 months off. Won on chasing debut last July; not so good after; back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/1 +8%) Honneur De Sivola |
11/1(+8%) | (4) Honneur De Sivola 11/1, Made frame both completed starts in Irish points and best effort over hurdles when sixth in a novice at Warwick last month. Looks a likely improver now switched to handicap chasing. Chasing/handicap debut after improved effort over hurdles latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (22/1 +56%) Mawlood |
22/1(+56%) | (7) Mawlood 22/1, Dual hurdles winner but failed to progress over fences for Phil Middleton. Yet to fire for current yard and looks opposable again. Hasn't been in great form and well beaten behind Alghazaal latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (1.2/1 -50%) Alghazaal |
1.2/1(-50%) | (5) Alghazaal 1.2/1, 11/1, career best when winning 9-runner handicap chase at Ludlow (16f, good to soft) 20 days ago, quickening clear. Lightly raced over fences and capable of better still, so makes most appeal. Burst into life with Ludlow win on second chasing start; 9lb rise might not stop him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/1 +0%) Boreen Boy |
9/1(+0%) | (1) Boreen Boy 9/1, Off the mark over hurdles in a Uttoxeter maiden over a year ago. Bit disappointing on the whole since and needs to up his game having his first go over fences. Hurdle winner last year but disappointing since; chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (6/1 +67%) Begoodtoyourself |
6/1(+67%) | (6) Begoodtoyourself 6/1, Poor chaser who wasn't at his best when down the field at Ludlow last time but capable of making an impact from this mark and has scored over C&D before. Won this last year; well beaten on recent return from a break; should do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (22/1 -100%) Obey The Rules |
22/1(-100%) | (3) Obey The Rules 22/1, Gained fourth success over fences (in refitted with cheekpieces) at Leicester (2m, good) in December. Failed to fire at Wincanton last time but consistent on the whole and likely to bounce back. Good chance on balance of form but ran poorly on latest start last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ALGHAZAAL did it nicely at Ludlow in this grade when scoring by eight lengths last time and he has been put up 9lb for that display. Charlie Longsdon's six-year-old only makes his third chase start and with the likelihood of more to come in this sphere, he could be the one to beat. Another to consider is Boreen Boy, who makes his chase debut and that could unlock improvement with Adrian Heskin booked, while Chess Player is also worthy of consideration.
ALGHAZAAL upped his game to score at Ludlow recently and a performance of similar merit should be enough to go in again in a race where most have questions to answer. Chess Player looks the main danger and Honneur de Sivola should do better for a switch to chasing.
A revelation when winning at Ludlow, ALGHAZAAL can defy the 9lb rise.

1st (4) (4/1 -14%) Absolute Ruler |
4/1(-14%) | (4) Absolute Ruler 4/1, Useful Flat performer at 2 yrs for Donnacha O'Brien and stopped the rot on hurdles debut at Market Rasen recently, finishing with running left. Clearly has a race like this in him if building on that. Lost his way on the Flat; second on recent hurdle debut; on the premises. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (0.29/1 +28%) Iolaos Du Mou |
0.29/1(+28%) | (3) Iolaos Du Mou 0.29/1, Impressive winner of Newbury bumper on debut and in the process of running a good race first time up over hurdles at Kempton 3 weeks ago until slipping up 2 out (rider lost irons). Obvious claims in first-time tongue tie. Bumper winner; nearly fell when pulled up on hurdle debut; tongue-strap on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (40/1 -122%) Indelible Spin |
40/1(-122%) | (8) Indelible Spin 40/1, Hasn't come remotely close to matching her modest bumper form in 2 completed starts over hurdles. Placed in bumpers but not much to show for three efforts over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (150/1 -50%) Gaazooo |
150/1(-50%) | (6) Gaazooo 150/1, Little form. Poor maiden on the Flat and pulled up only attempt over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (150/1 +25%) Dee Day Landing |
150/1(+25%) | (1) Dee Day Landing 150/1, No sign of ability. Has failed to finish all three hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (25/1 -25%) Shabano |
25/1(-25%) | (7) Shabano 25/1, Fair maiden handicapper on Flat (stays 1¼m), below form final 2 starts in 2022 (Sold from Ed Walker 12,000 gns in October). Plenty of headgear on for hurdles debut for new yard. Ability on the Flat but no wins; hurdle/stable debut after break with lots of aids fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RO| (5) (8.5/1 -21%) Definite |
8.5/1(-21%) | (5) Definite 8.5/1, Fairly useful performer at best on Flat (stays 1¼m) and has shown a bit over hurdles, keeping on at Plumpton a fortnight ago. Good place claims again. This month's Plumpton third was a step in the right direction; could do better still. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Iolaos Du Mou is likely to be fancied for his powerful connections, but he will need to put his latest pulled-up effort at Kempton well behind him to figure. Preference is for ABSOLUTE RULER, who was beaten just over three lengths behind Carrarea (now rated 122) and that form sets a very decent standard for others to aim at in this contest. Definite is another to note, as he took a step forward to run into a place at Plumpton on his latest outing.
A thin maiden hurdle and a good opportunity for IOLAOS DU MOU to strike after his luckless run at Kempton. The superbly-bred Absolute Ruler has races in him over jumps if kicking on from his Market Rasen effort and is the danger.
Assuming he's none the worse for his Kempton mishap, IOLAOS DU MOU looks the likeliest winner.

1st (2) (0.73/1 +58%) Hardy Boy |
0.73/1(+58%) | (2) Hardy Boy 0.73/1, Dual hurdles winner who has made a decent fist of it starting out over fences although he again jumped none too fluently at Ffos Las on Saturday (kept on well for second). Laboured second at Ffos Las on Saturday and opposable if turning out again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (2.25/1 +0%) Lough Carra |
2.25/1(+0%) | (4) Lough Carra 2.25/1, Plenty of size about him and finished runner-up 4 times over hurdles during the autumn. Wasn't seen to best effort sent chasing over C&D last week and should do better in this sphere. Tongue tie goes on. Maiden; faded out of it on recent C&D chasing debut; tongue-strap now fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (40/1 -21%) Harry Hazard |
40/1(-21%) | (5) Harry Hazard 40/1, Maiden jumper who offered little after another long absence at Fontwell recently. Can't be fancied back chasing from well out of the weights. Tailed off over hurdles on return from a year off; 14lb out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (6/1 -20%) Petrastar |
6/1(-20%) | (1) Petrastar 6/1, Won his first 3 starts over hurdles back in 2020 (first here after an absence) and a player back from a break now chasing off a reduced mark. Three hurdle wins but mostly struggled in last couple of years; chasing debut after break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Although still a maiden, LOUGH CARRA has snippets of solid form that suggest he can provide a bit of value in what it likely to be a tactical race. He has dropped to a workable mark and, assuming he takes to racing with a cheekpieces and tongue-tie combination applied for the first time, he looks worth chancing. Much depends on whether Hardy Boy is turned out again quickly after his second at Ffos Las on Saturday, but Toughasoldboots would rate the main danger in his absence.
LOUGH CARRA wasn't seen to best effect on his chase debut here last week and the big gelding is the type to do better in this sphere. He gets the vote over Petrastar. Hardy Boy faces a quick turnaround from Saturday's effort at Ffos Las and needs to jump better.
Despite a modest run over hurdles recently, TOUGHASOLDBOOTS still appeals most.

1st (9) (7/1 +42%) Vision Of Hope |
7/1(+42%) | (9) Vision Of Hope 7/1, Won 2 of her 5 starts on the Flat for George Boughey. Has been too headstrong over hurdles but last week's C&D fourth suggests she can make an impact from her lowly mark if piecing it all together. Too keen over hurdles; fourth over C&D last Tuesday and this looks tougher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (2.2/1 +51%) Bluebella |
2.2/1(+51%) | (7) Bluebella 2.2/1, Different proposition fitted with a tongue tie when storming clear in the closing stages at Worcester (2m, good) on Friday. Major player under a penalty if coping with the quick turnaround. Well backed and in tongue-strap for first time when scoring decisively on Friday evening. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (12/1 +0%) Embolden |
12/1(+0%) | (4) Embolden 12/1, Won a 2m Plumpton handicap over Easter. Good third at Stratford next time and stamina stretched over 3m on soft at Uttoxeter since. This test more suitable and treated as if still in form. Didn't stay 3m when pulled up latest and not out of this on earlier form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5/1 +33%) Fort De L'Ocean |
5/1(+33%) | (2) Fort De L'Ocean 5/1, Fair winning hurdler/chaser who showed he retains his ability after a long absence when 2 lengths second of 14 in 2m Southwell handicap hurdle 31 days ago. Good second last month after long absence; repeat puts him in the picture. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (3/1 -20%) Kingfast |
3/1(-20%) | (1) Kingfast 3/1, Back on form for new yard with wins in quick succession at Market Rasen and Southwell this month. 9 lb higher now bidding for the hat-trick but can still be expected to make a bold bid. Two easy wins this month and plenty of appeal despite 9lb higher mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (7.5/1 -125%) Alkhattaaf |
7.5/1(-125%) | (3) Alkhattaaf 7.5/1, Best effort over hurdles when second in Wincanton maiden last month. Underlined his well-being with a Flat success since and his opening mark in this sphere looks manageable. Handicap hurdle debut; claims on his Wincanton second and has won on AW since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (18/1 -227%) For Three |
18/1(-227%) | (5) For Three 18/1, Successful twice for James Ewart in summer of 2021. Best effort since joining this yard when third of 14 at Southwell (2m, good to soft) last month. Needs to build on that now. Best effort for this yard when third at Southwell last month; more needed to win this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (66/1 +0%) Megalodon |
66/1(+0%) | (10) Megalodon 66/1, One win from 28 starts. Pulled up in handicap chase at Exeter (17.5f, good to soft, 22/1) 38 days ago, dropping away quickly end of back straight. Remains to be seen whether a return to hurdles makes any difference. Only win came in 2020 and hasn't been sparkling over fences lately. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (28/1 +30%) Diamond Joel |
28/1(+30%) | (8) Diamond Joel 28/1, Remains a maiden after 17 NH runs. 40/1, respectable sixth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Bangor (17f, good to firm) 37 days ago. Others preferred again. 0-14 over hurdles and limited appeal in this company. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
KINGFAST is hard to oppose as he bids for a third consecutive success and, given he still has scope to progress further in this discipline, a 9lb higher mark might not be enough to prevent him extending his winning sequence. Jack Hogan, who claims 5lb, being back in the saddle helps on that score. Alkhattaaf has a similar profile and rates a big threat given he showed improvement when second in a maiden hurdle at Wincanton last month, before scoring on the Flat at Wolverhampton. For Three and Ambassador are also worth a second look.
BLUEBELLA was much improved with a tongue strap fitted at Worcester on Friday and is selected to make light of a 7 lb penalty turned out again quickly. Alkhattaaf has won on AW Flat since his improved second at Wincanton and is second choice ahead of the hat-trick seeking Kingfast.
Many of these could run well but KINGFAST (nap) can complete the hat-trick.

1st (2) (0.83/1 +17%) Heneryetta Bay |
0.83/1(+17%) | (2) Heneryetta Bay 0.83/1, Irish point winner and positives to glean from both chase outings this spring, third of 8 at Stratford last week. Up in trip and this looks a good opportunity. Placed in her first two chases (2m5f/2m3f); obvious contender if this new trip suits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5.5/1 +61%) Ho Que Oui |
5.5/1(+61%) | (3) Ho Que Oui 5.5/1, Fair hurdler in France and produced her best effort for this yard when scoring over fences at Ffos Las in October. Disappointing since, though, markedly so the last thrice. Very disappointing since her win off 3lb higher in the autumn; needs to turn a corner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 +47%) Eightytwo Team |
4/1(+47%) | (4) Eightytwo Team 4/1, Long-standing maiden who has failed to complete on 4 of his last 5 starts, though she looked sure to be placed on reappearance until unseating at Uttoxeter last week. 21-race maiden; placed last summer but far too inconsistent to rely upon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (4.5/1 +44%) Frau Georgia |
4.5/1(+44%) | (1) Frau Georgia 4.5/1, Perth winner from 2 lb lower in September 2021. Mixed bag since, running no sort of race on April's return from 6 months off over C&D. This is a drop in class. Needs to prove her wellbeing but has conditions to suit and is on a workable mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Miss Antipova gave a bold account when runner-up at Southwell a fortnight ago and the 11-year-old may prove dangerous once again if getting into a rhythm on the front end. Heneryetta Bay has placed on both starts over fences and could be open to improvement, but EIGHTYTWO TEAM shades the vote. She was making a solid return to action after a break at Uttoxeter when jinking left at a running rail due to bypassing obstacles and is entitled to progress from that display.
HENERYETTA BAY doesn't look totally straightforward but she's displayed improved form since switched to fences and won't get many better opportunities than this. Miss Antipova has found only one too good the last twice and may fill that spot again.
11yo maiden MISS ANTIPOVA comes here after two good efforts and is taken to dominate from the front.

1st (1) (1/1 +56%) Red Force One |
1/1(+56%) | (1) Red Force One 1/1, Best part of 3 years have passed since latest success over hurdles but won 3 times on the Flat in 2022 and found just one too good in a 19.6f handicap here (good to firm) last week. Will take plenty of stopping off the same mark. Makes quick reappearance after good second here (2m3f) last Tuesday; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2.75/1 -83%) Highland Frolic |
2.75/1(-83%) | (2) Highland Frolic 2.75/1, Fairly useful form on the Flat for the Gosdens and opened hurdles account in 2m Plumpton maiden last month. Backed that up when third of 10 back in handicap company at Ludlow (15.8f, good) since, leaving the impression that he's worth another try at this sort of trip. Placed off this mark over 2m a fortnight ago and could have untapped potential over 2m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (6/1 +25%) Ben Bulben |
6/1(+25%) | (4) Ben Bulben 6/1, Has posted a couple of decent efforts since going down the handicap route, including when fifth on debut for this yard at Warwick (25f, good to soft). However, will need to step up on that in order to open his account here. Shaped with promise on stable debut and may benefit from this drop back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (40/1 +50%) Solid Fuel |
40/1(+50%) | (6) Solid Fuel 40/1, Little impact over hurdles so far and faces another stiff task from 12 lb out of the weights here. Ran well here in February but well beaten twice since; 12lb out of the weights today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (5/1 +38%) Awesome Foursome |
5/1(+38%) | (5) Awesome Foursome 5/1, Made a winning bumper debut at Worcester last spring and best effort yet over hurdles when runner-up at Market Rasen (20.6f, soft) on penultimate start. Completely misfired next time, though, and others look more solid. Improved form when second two starts ago but well beaten since; hard to predict. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HIGHLAND FROLIC wasn't disgraced on his return to handicap company when third at Ludlow earlier in the month and the manner in which he finished his race off suggested a step up in trip would pose no concerns. Red Force One took a step in the right direction with cheekpieces reapplied here on Tuesday and he can enter calculations, along with Awesome Foursome, who didn't appear to get home over further at Uttoxeter last time.
If in the same form as when hitting the crossbar here last week, RED FORCE ONE will prove a tough nut to crack with conditions again in his favour. Sinndarella is marginally preferred to Highland Frolic for forecast purposes.
Highland Frolic is respected but preference is for RED FORCE ONE, who makes a quick return after his good second here last Tuesday.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
