1st (1) (3/1 -71%) No Questions Asked |
3/1(-71%) | (1) No Questions Asked 3/1, Point winner who showed useful winning form in bumpers earlier in year. Successful at 4/9 on Carlisle hurdle debut in November but only third when odds on again at Doncaster since, pulling hard both times. The hood worn on those occasions is off now. Needs to settle better to fulfil his potential. Useful in bumpers and has won over hurdles; needs to settle better but still a big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (8/13 +51%) Big Ginge |
8/13(+51%) | (3) Big Ginge 8/13, Showed plenty of ability in trio of bumpers last season and edged out only late on by the promising Anno Power on his 2m Sandown hurdle debut 6 weeks ago. Leading claims with improvement likely. Ran well in all three bumpers last season and went close on recent hurdle debut at Sandown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/2 +30%) Strong Foundations |
7/2(+30%) | (2) Strong Foundations 7/2, A fair bumper performer who made a winning start in this sphere in 11-runner novice hurdle at Warwick (2m, good) in October. Found out in a Cheltenham Grade 2 since but respected with his sights lowered. Narrow winner on hurdle debut at Warwick; subsequent Grade 2 defeat best overlooked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (16/1 +20%) Slide Rule |
16/1(+20%) | (12) Slide Rule 16/1, Has hinted at ability in 2 bumpers and a maiden hurdle but it's likely he's more one for handicaps later on. Showed some ability in bumpers and on hurdle debut but probably one for another day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (25/1 -233%) King Ulanda |
25/1(-233%) | (7) King Ulanda 25/1, Landed a gamble in Huntingdon bumper in May for Tom Weston but only sixth on Southwell hurdle debut for new yard last month. Should be wiser this time but he'll need to leave that bare form behind with a tongue-strap added now. Bumper winner in May but just a respectable sixth on recent stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (125/1 -279%) Dartman |
125/1(-279%) | (5) Dartman 125/1, Fair maiden handicapper on Flat. Best effort over hurdles when third of 9 in 2m Uttoxeter novice when last seen in July but the form is only modest. Inherited modest third at Uttoxeter in July; much more is needed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (66/1 -32%) Camacho Man |
66/1(-32%) | (4) Camacho Man 66/1, Fell early no hurdles debut back in 2020. Did win a couple of low-level Flat events for Laura Horsfall this summer but still makes limited appeal back over obstacles. Won two low-grade AW races in spring; first hurdle start since early fall in November 2020. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (150/1 -50%) Shabano |
150/1(-50%) | (11) Shabano 150/1, Fair maiden on Flat. Off 526 days, stepped up on hurdle debut when 21 lengths fourth in Ludlow novice for new yard 17 days ago but the form is barely modest. Didn't run badly in a claimer on recent stable debut but still looks opposable here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (200/1 -203%) Cinderello |
200/1(-203%) | (13) Cinderello 200/1, Well held in 2 bumpers ahead of this switch to hurdles. Soundly beaten in two bumpers this autumn and can only be watched on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (14) (150/1 -50%) Damzon |
150/1(-50%) | (14) Damzon 150/1, Runner-up in the second of 3 bumpers but didn't achieve much on his completed start over hurdles in recent weeks. Not disgraced in recent Uttoxeter maiden but not the most obvious answer here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (200/1 -700%) Kick For Touch |
200/1(-700%) | (6) Kick For Touch 200/1, Beaten a long way in a pair of 2m hurdles in recent weeks and looks more one for handicaps over longer trips down the line. With a good stable but was soundly beaten on his first two appearances. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (250/1 -150%) Rochester Brinks |
250/1(-150%) | (10) Rochester Brinks 250/1, Pulled up sole start in Irish points and ran out before halfway in a Uttoxeter bumper in November. Proved headstrong again when well held over hurdles at Market Rasen since. Ran out on bumper debut and well beaten when switched to hurdles a fortnight later. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (80/1 -300%) Master Dunraven |
80/1(-300%) | (9) Master Dunraven 80/1, Twice a winner of 1¼m handicaps on the Flat for Johnny Murtagh, including at Leopardstown in October, but no short-term promise over hurdles for new yard at Plumpton 19 days ago. Fairly useful on the Flat in Ireland but did not get competitive on stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RR| (8) (250/1 -67%) Maryah Island |
250/1(-67%) | (8) Maryah Island 250/1, Well beaten in 2 bumper. Refused to race on Fontwell hurdle debut in April and pretty much did the same again at Chepstow a week after. Can only watch back from 7 months off. Refused to race on hurdling debut in April and virtually refused to race a week later. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BIG GINGE bumped into a potentially useful type on his hurdles debut at Sandown last month and with improvement likely, the son of Mount Nelson is taken to go one place better. Carlisle scorer No Questions Asked wasn't able to carry a penalty to victory at Doncaster three weeks ago but he remains of interest, while others to note include King Ulanda and Strong Foundations.
BIG GINGE shaped well on his Sandown hurdle debut and can make the most of the weight he receives from previous hurdle winners Strong Foundations and No Questions Asked.
His tendency to race too freely is an ongoing concern but Carlisle winner NO QUESTIONS ASKED can add to his tally here.

1st (10) (9/1 +64%) Timeforarum |
9/1(+64%) | (10) Timeforarum 9/1, Improved effort over hurdles when second in a 2m Stratford maiden in July, bare form reads well with winner (now rated 107 on official ratings) scoring at this track last month. Might have needed the run back from nearly 4 months off when well held in 2m Chepstow handicap 53 days ago. Well beaten when back in a handicap in October and now 0-7 over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (9/2 +78%) By The Grace |
9/2(+78%) | (9) By The Grace 9/2, Has looked one of her stable's lesser lights to date, pulling up at Kempton (2m) and again failed to complete when upped in trip (2m 6f) back in May. Back down in distance after 7 months off but does represent top connections at a moderate level. Pulled up in both handicaps in the spring but top stable is persisting with her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (6/1 +14%) Culligran |
6/1(+14%) | (7) Culligran 6/1, Found improvement when getting off the mark in 8-runner handicap hurdle over C&D (good to soft) in November, comfortably. Could not replicate that effort when returning to the track off a 7 lb higher mark 10 days ago (fifth beaten 4 lengths) but clearly acts around here and one for the shortlist. C&D winner last month and not beaten far here ten days ago; high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (4/1 +0%) Greenways |
4/1(+0%) | (12) Greenways 4/1, Justified support having joined this yard from Dominic Ffrench Davis when readily scoring in handicap hurdle here (21.7f, good) in November (second has won since). Best forgiven effort 8 days later on much softer ground (20f Ffos Las) and respected now freshened up and returned to this venue. Won here (2m5f) on last month's stable debut and had ground excuse last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/1 +8%) Scherbobalob |
11/1(+8%) | (6) Scherbobalob 11/1, Shed maiden tag in quite convincing fashion at Ludlow (15.7f) in spring of last year but struggled for form during the autumn. Attracted some support on return/following wind surgery but shaped as if needing the run when sixth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter 35 days ago. Chance on best form. Returned from layoff with fairly encouraging run last month and is on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (22/1 +56%) Baikal |
22/1(+56%) | (11) Baikal 22/1, Dual winner over hurdles for Adam West in 2023 but yet to get his head in front this year and three low-key runs for current connections make him hard to fancy on return to track after short break, although jockey booking does catch the eye, so worth monitoring to see if any market support. Placed off 11lb higher for another yard in July but well beaten on last two hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (11/2 -38%) Goodwin Face |
11/2(-38%) | (4) Goodwin Face 11/2, Best effort to date over hurdles when runner-up at Plumpton 61 days ago. Still displayed signs of greenness there, so could be more to come on handicap debut from feasible opening mark. Went close in Plumpton novice in October and is open to more improvement in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (16/1 -113%) Jim De Sarti |
16/1(-113%) | (2) Jim De Sarti 16/1, Bumper winner in France. Underwhelming for Nicky Henderson, including on hurdling debut at Newbury 8 months ago. Sold quite cheaply and weakened out of it behind Nowmelad at Uttoxeter in October. Tongue tie made little difference when tailed off at Stratford later in month. Returns off 51-day break. Soundly beaten on last two hurdling starts but may yet deliver on debut promise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (4/1 +11%) Penna Rossa |
4/1(+11%) | (8) Penna Rossa 4/1, Not won since 2022 but promising first effort for new yard when runner-up at Exeter in November. Ran too badly to be true at Stratford but back in form at Huntingdon just 3 days later (19.5f possibly stretched him). Best run in a while when 2nd back down in trip (15.2f Wincanton) last month. Player. Runner-up on two of his four starts for Keiran Burke this autumn; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (16) (66/1 -32%) Grandmaster Flash |
66/1(-32%) | (16) Grandmaster Flash 66/1, Three-time AW winner on the Flat but no real impact in his starts over hurdles, pulling up at Newton Abbot in May and again failing to complete when tried in blinkers at Ffos Las (20f, good to soft, 80/1) 41 days ago, Blinkers retained today but lots to find on recent evidence. Pulled-up 80-1 shot at Ffos Las last month and now 0-15 over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (22/1 -175%) Gwennie May Star |
22/1(-175%) | (3) Gwennie May Star 22/1, Showed some ability in bumpers 3 months apart and made late headway on second run over hurdles at Ludlow in October. Never involved on final qualifying run at Bangor (16.7f) 38 days ago and looks the type to have been brought along with low-grade handicaps in mind. Not ruled out for powerful yard. Did not show a great deal in his qualifying races but improvement is possible in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) (80/1 -300%) Iddergem |
80/1(-300%) | (1) Iddergem 80/1, Has won selling events at Stratford and Southwell for Olly Murphy this winter but found nothing in handicap at Wincanton on debut for new yard. Quick turnaround and blinkers back on when running to similar level in February. Cheekpieces back on for return to action after 10 months off. Struggled on first two stable starts and has been absent since February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (66/1 -32%) Mind Hunter |
66/1(-32%) | (13) Mind Hunter 66/1, Missed whole of 2023 and beaten a long way back from a lengthy absence on the Flat in October. Out of form when last seen over hurdles in 2022; well beaten on Flat after long layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (14) (50/1 -52%) Fan Magnet |
50/1(-52%) | (14) Fan Magnet 50/1, Showed ability in bumpers in Ireland but no show in qualifying hurdles for this yard. Retains hood today but plenty to find on handicap bow. Well-beaten outsider in three novice/maiden hurdles this autumn; handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (100/1 -400%) Lucky Draw |
100/1(-400%) | (5) Lucky Draw 100/1, Fair on Flat and over hurdles, shaping well when finding only one too good in 8-runner handicap at Market Rasen in June. Held back by mistakes at Southwell since and performed poorly when last seen in August 2023 (well beaten 16.3f) at Stratford. Something to prove on first run for over 500 days. 0-8 over hurdles and absent since two disappointing runs in summer 2023. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Not the deepest of contests and preference is for GOODWIN FACE. A narrow second in a Plumpton novice hurdle in October, Chris Gordon's charge does not look overburdened by an opening mark of 96 and he may step forward now pitched into handicaps. Penna Rossa posted a much improved performance at Wincanton last month and ought to go close if building on that. Greenways heads the remainder.
A very competitive handicap hurdle. It might be worth chancing that SCHERBOBALOB can recapture his best form. He likely needed his comeback run following a wind operation, and that should put him spot on for this. Penna Rossa arrives here off the back of two encouraging efforts, although he does find it tough to win, while better is expected of Gwennie May Star now tackling a handicap for the first time. Course winner Greenways and the lightly-raced Goodwin Face are others worth noting.
Handicap debutant JIM DE SARTI is of strong interest if judged on the promise he showed at Newbury last season and gets the vote.

1st (6) (5/2 +38%) Muskoka |
5/2(+38%) | (6) Muskoka 5/2, Showed a fair level of ability in bumpers and matched that over hurdles. Creditable third at Kempton on chase debut last month but it was pretty laboured stuff returning from 4 months off. Step up in trip may help. Ran well at Kempton (chase debut) recently, while shaping as if this longer trip will suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (28/1 -12%) Gats And Co |
28/1(-12%) | (5) Gats And Co 28/1, Now twelve runs since last win in 2022 and ran poorly after 6 months off at Chepstow (23.6f, good) just over 4 weeks ago, dropping away quickly. Mark continues to tumble but can only be watched. Pulled up in two handicaps since finishing second in a hunter chase in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 +50%) Laskalin |
4/1(+50%) | (1) Laskalin 4/1, Useful at his best and, while he didn't get his head in front last term, he returned to form in cheekpieces when runner-up at Taunton (28.4f, soft) in March. However, he turned in a particularly lacklustre display after 7 months off at Ascot recently so no surprise to see headgear back on. Again failed to fire on his reappearance, though that was at Ascot and this looks easier. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (3/1 -9%) Face D'music |
3/1(-9%) | (4) Face D'music 3/1, Placed on only start in points and off the mark over hurdles here in May. Jumped much better than previously this season when opening his account over fences in 10-runner handicap at this C&D (good to soft) last month and should make another bold bid following a 4 lb rise. Only his third run over fences when prevailing narrowly over C&D last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/2 -29%) Not Sure |
9/2(-29%) | (2) Not Sure 9/2, Won on 3m Wetherby reappearance last season and far from disgraced from 12 lb out of the handicap when fourth in Welsh National at Chepstow 12 months ago, albeit beaten a distance. Last seen tailed-off second of 3 at Uttoxeter (24f, heavy) 8 months ago but considered given his record fresh. About 3m perhaps ideal; on a perfectly good mark if returning to something like his best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (13/2 -136%) Just Loose Change |
13/2(-136%) | (3) Just Loose Change 13/2, Dual winner over hurdles who ran well when making the frame twice last season. Offered little on chase debut but much improved when rallying for success in novices' handicap at Huntingdon (23.6f, good) last month. Failed to land the odds at Catterick since however, so needs to bounce back. Brave winner at Huntingdon but ran a laboured race at Catterick when odds-on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (125/1 -89%) Pontresina |
125/1(-89%) | (7) Pontresina 125/1, Hasn't stood much racing since joining this yard from Oliver Sherwood and has been well beaten on both starts since returning from 5 months off (latest over hurdles). Back over the larger obstacles here but tough to enthuse over. An 11yo returning from 411 days away and wasn't looking the force of old when last seen. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FACE D'MUSIC got up in the shadow of the post over C&D last time out, finishing well clear of the third, and he is taken to go in again despite a 4lb rise in the handicap. Muskoka showed promise on his chasing debut recently and any improvement should bring him into the picture, while Just Loose Change, who was no match for an all-the-way winner at Catterick last month, is also noted.
FACE D'MUSIC boasts a fine record at this track and having jumped much better than previously this season when winning over C&D last month, Katy Price's 5-y-o gets the nod to follow up. Not Sure won on reappearance at Wetherby last year, so he heads up the dangers, with Just Loose Change taken to edge out Muskoka for the third spot.
The well-related MUSKOKA can improve for this longer trip and get off the mark. Face d'Music floored one in form last time.

1st (2) (5/2 +50%) Lady Balko |
5/2(+50%) | (2) Lady Balko 5/2, Progressive hurdler last season and, having shaped as though in need of the run on return/chase debut at Bangor, she hasn't looked back since, making all in pair of 25.7f Plumpton handicaps. Gone up a total of 16 lb for that brace but she remains open to improvement in this sphere. Has twice made all over this trip at Plumpton this month; commands respect in current mood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (16/1 -45%) Lagonda |
16/1(-45%) | (12) Lagonda 16/1, Point/hurdles winner who ended last season badly out of form but mark has dipped as a result and she fared better when third a 5-runner handicap chase on recent reappearance at Ludlow (23.8f, soft). Place possibilities. Shaped well on recent seasonal debut and remains on a career-low mark; dangerous. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (20/1 -43%) My Silver Lining |
20/1(-43%) | (3) My Silver Lining 20/1, Relished the stamina test when bagging fourth win over fences in the Classic Chase at Warwick (29.3f, soft) in January. Followed that with a couple of very creditable efforts in defeat and, though pulled up both starts since returning to action in October, she will be a danger to all if on-song. Well handicapped on her heroics in valuable marathons last season but in poor form lately. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (11/4 +31%) Regatta De Blanc |
11/4(+31%) | (5) Regatta De Blanc 11/4, Unbeaten in 4 points and winner of 2 of 3 starts in hunter chases, scoring by a wide margin at Cheltenham in May. Showed benefit of hurdles reappearance spin for new yard in October when chasing home a progressive type in a handicap chase at Ascot (23.8f, good) and she remains with potential. Former pointer/hunter chaser; placed on both starts for Paul Nicholls; not yet exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (13) (20/1 -43%) Jessie Lightfoot |
20/1(-43%) | (13) Jessie Lightfoot 20/1, Revitalised by a return to Henry Oliver during the spring, scoring over fences at Taunton and Southwell before a good third of 18 in 25f Cheltenham handicap back from a break in October. Creditable second to Lady Balko at Plumpton since but she will do well to turn the tables on that rival here. 2lb wrong today but comes here after two good efforts and has a fighting chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (7/2 +50%) Moonlit Potter |
7/2(+50%) | (8) Moonlit Potter 7/2, Encouragement when making the frame in bumper and built on hurdling debut when winning a Lingfield mares' maiden in February. Highly encouraging first attempt over fences at Huntingdon (23.6f, soft) where she was beaten a whisker and she looks sure to progress and win races in this sphere. Went very close on last month's seasonal/chase/handicap debut and remains unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (11/2 +31%) Harrys Hope |
11/2(+31%) | (10) Harrys Hope 11/2, Irish point winner who has left her hurdles exploits well behind since tackling fences, winning her first 3 starts in this sphere prior to going close in bid for the four-timer over this C&D. 4 lb rise for that near miss fair enough and she's high on the shortlist. Began chase career with three wins in October and went close over C&D last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (22/1 -57%) Lilting Verse |
22/1(-57%) | (7) Lilting Verse 22/1, Listed bumper winner who opened her account over hurdles at Ludlow last November. Made it second time lucky in this sphere when narrowly landing a Huntingdon handicap (23.6f, soft) but she disconcertingly ran out at Doncaster next time. Rallied well for narrow win last month but pulled up after becoming unsteerable last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (22/1 -10%) Ah Whisht |
22/1(-10%) | (11) Ah Whisht 22/1, Point recruit who was first and second in novice hurdles in early 2023. Failed to fire in handicap hurdles last season and, having had wind surgery, she fell on her chase debut/reappearance last month. Others preferred. Still unexposed but struggled in handicap hurdles last season and fell on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (25/1 -257%) Sacre Coeur |
25/1(-257%) | (1) Sacre Coeur 25/1, Three-time handicap chase winner last season and back to best when making all at Plumpton (25.7f, good to soft) in November. Went down all guns blazing at Kempton a week later but she's yet to strike off a mark this high and locks horns with several promising types here. Trailblazing front-runner who won by wide-margin at Plumpton last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (50/1 -355%) Glimpse Of Gala |
50/1(-355%) | (6) Glimpse Of Gala 50/1, Dual hurdles winner who made a promising start over fences when runner-up at Worcester in October 2023. Again found just one too good in this season's renewal of the same mares' novice chase but subsequent Fontwell display left much to be desired. Blinkers applied. Well beaten in Fontwell marathon last month; needs headgear switch to perk her up here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (66/1 -313%) La Domaniale |
66/1(-313%) | (4) La Domaniale 66/1, A four-time winner over fences who put in a good shift on her second run since returning from a break when runner-up at Stratford (19.5f, good) in August. Below par all 3 subsequent starts, though, and she's probably worth taking on, for all that the handicapper has given her a chance. On a good mark now but seems best over 2m4f on genuine good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (100/1 -300%) Tune The Chello |
100/1(-300%) | (9) Tune The Chello 100/1, Multiple winner for Henry de Bromhead but put in her place when beaten in a match on second run for Donald McCain during 2022/23 campaign. No show following 21 months off on debut for this yard at Huntingdon last month (well behind Moonlit Potter) and she's hard to warm to. Well treated on old form but was well beaten on stable debut, after a long absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
This can go the way of the unexposed MOONLIT POTTER, who could not have done much more when a nose second on her chasing debut at Huntingdon last month. Henry Daly's charge can gain compensation on the slight step up in trip, with the hat-trick-seeking Lady Balko looking best placed to chase her home. Not outside the first two in her last three starts, Sacre Coeur is entitled to be thereabouts, as well as Jessie Lightfoot and Regatta De Blanc.
Several appeaing types to choose from with REGATTA DE BLANC marginally preferred to Harrys Hope, Lady Balko and Moonlit Potter. The selection bumped into a progressive one at Ascot on her first run in open company over fences and there should be more to come from this lightly-raced 6-y-o. My Silver Lining needs to get back on track but she will be a danger to all if able to do so.
Former pointer REGATTA DE BLANC (nap) was a good second at Ascot on her second start for Paul Nicholls and still has potential.

1st (1) (11/8 +8%) Nemean Lion |
11/8(+8%) | (1) Nemean Lion 11/8, Course winner who landed the second Grade 2 success of his career in Kingwell at Wincanton in February. Found Grade 1s at Cheltenham and Aintree too much in the spring but encouraging return after 8 months off when second (behind dominant winner) at Sandown two weeks ago. Major player here. Grade 2 winner last season and ran well in defeat when back in action this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (4/1 +43%) Lemoncello |
4/1(+43%) | (4) Lemoncello 4/1, Fairly useful form over hurdles/fences in France in 2023. Off over a year prior to laboured effort at Bangor on British debut, but back on track on second start when fourth at Doncaster (16.5f) a week ago. Back up in trip today and trainer usually does well with this type, particularly over fences. Pulled up on British debut but last week's Doncaster fourth was much more encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (33/1 -65%) Maasai Mara |
33/1(-65%) | (6) Maasai Mara 33/1, Fairly useful on Flat and readily got off the mark over hurdles at Catterick (2m, soft) in February. Has ran well at this track (second under a penalty last April) but refused at Sandown on latest hurdle start, missed break and awkward head carriage on Flat last time. Talented but temperamental. Useful Flat racer; took quite well to hurdling last season but refused to race in spring. |

4th (3) (11/8 +45%) Below The Radar |
11/8(+45%) | (3) Below The Radar 11/8, Still raw when 2-2 in novice hurdles (one at this track). Shaped better than beaten distance (14.5l) when fourth of 7 at Uttoxeter (23.3f) on handicap debut 27 days ago. Appeared to need the run that day, but connections quick to go back down in trip. Much better expected on this occasion. 2-2 as novice hurdler last term; finished weakly on handicap debut but remains of interest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
NEMEAN LION finished second in this grade at Sandown earlier in the month and can take full advantage of his 2lb lower mark in this company. Below The Radar wasn't able to justify favouritism on his seasonal return at Uttoxeter last month but the son of Getaway could take a step forward here, while Lemoncello heads the remainder after his Doncaster fourth.
This is a good opportunity for NEMEAN LION to regain the winning thread on his way to bigger targets later in the season. Below The Radar showed plenty of ability in novice hurdles and shaped with more promise than the bare result on comeback, so he is considered the main danger in receipt of two stone from Nemean Lion.
Preference is for the class act in the line-up, NEMEAN LION, who has been dropped 2lb since his very respectable second at Sandown.

1st (2) (9/2 +36%) Salt Rock |
9/2(+36%) | (2) Salt Rock 9/2, Cost £205,000 after winning his only point in March 2022. Has had a light career under Rules since but there has been promise, fair form when third of 11 in novice hurdle at Kempton (2m) 26 days ago. Looks the type to progress now handicapping over fences for his very good yard. Point winner; showed promise in three novice hurdles; makes chase/handicap debut today. |

2nd (3) (11/4 +17%) Paddy In The Caddy |
11/4(+17%) | (3) Paddy In The Caddy 11/4, Advanced his form switched to positive tactics making all (jumped soundly) at Warwick and by no means all out to hold off nearest pursuer when following up in 8-runner C&D handicap 24 days ago. Definite claims up 6 lb with prospect of more to come. Scored over C&D last month and is now 2-3 over fences; could still be on the upgrade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (3/1 +54%) Largy Force |
3/1(+54%) | (5) Largy Force 3/1, Fetched £85,000 after winning sole point start in April 2022 and bright start under Rules when placed in bumper/all 3 starts over hurdles earlier this year. Looks up to making her mark now tackling larger obstacles and she returns with her yard going well. Had wind surgery. Irish point winner; placed in all three hurdles last season; good chasing prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (7/2 +13%) Famoso |
7/2(+13%) | (1) Famoso 7/2, Dual C&D winner who arrives here in fine form, bringing up a quick-fire hat-trick with plenty to spare in 6-runner handicap chase at Ludlow (2m, soft) 3 days ago. High on the shortlist turned out quickly under a penalty. Bang-in-form 8yo who completed hat-trick with comfortable success at Ludlow on Wednesday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (25/1 -79%) Abaya Du Mathan |
25/1(-79%) | (8) Abaya Du Mathan 25/1, Veteran who capitalised on some mercy from the assessor when winning 7-runner handicap chase at Southwell (15.8f) 18 days ago. However, that wasn't a strong affair and much more on his plate in this much warmer contest. Veteran; recently recorded his 11th chase win but is not one to rely upon heavily nowadays. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (18/1 -13%) Fay Ce Que Voudras |
18/1(-13%) | (7) Fay Ce Que Voudras 18/1, Won a C&D handicap hurdle in the mud in early 2023. Was beaten a long way but not given hard time after 21 months off when sixth of 8 in handicap chase (9/1) at Uttoxeter (20f, heavy) on debut over fences 27 days ago. Should improve. Well beaten on chasing debut but that came after a long layoff; course winner over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (8/1 +0%) Dromlac Jury |
8/1(+0%) | (6) Dromlac Jury 8/1, Quite a costly buy out of points and made a winning handicap bow over hurdles at Ludlow (15.8f) in March. Solid start in this sphere, again finding only one too good in 6-runner handicap chase back at Ludlow (2m, soft) 17 days ago. Another who commands respect. Second in both chases, more recently behind a much-improved subsequent winner this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (22/1 -159%) Limetree Boy |
22/1(-159%) | (4) Limetree Boy 22/1, Winning hurdler who is yet to score in this sphere but again made the frame when runner-up at Bangor (17.3f) in May. Lesser effort with tongue strap applied (discarded here) when tenth of 13 in handicap chase at Worcester (20f, good) in July and others preferred back from a break. Off since poor run in July but made the frame four consecutive times in the spring. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FAMOSO successfully completed a hat-trick in convincing style at Ludlow three days ago and is quickly turned out under a 7lb penalty. Matt Sheppard's eight-year-old is improving at a rapid rate of knots and doesn't look one to take on just yet. Abaya Du Mathan produced a bit of shock at Southwell last time, but there was no fluke about the manner of that victory so he could get involved. Of the remainder, the in-form Paddy In The Caddy makes the most appeal.
This looks a warm race but PADDY IN THE CADDY was by no means all out when fending off a next-time-out winner over C&D 24 days ago and he rates a big player again in his hat-trick bid. Fellow C&D winner Famoso is thriving himself and is feared turned out quickly under a penalty for his Ludlow victory 3 days ago. Chase-debutant Salt Rock and Dromlac Jury are others to consider.
Unexposed 6yo SALT ROCK makes his handicap/chase debut after some promising hurdle runs and might be the answer.

2nd (8) (15/8 +32%) Secret Sniper |
15/8(+32%) | (8) Secret Sniper 15/8, Brother to connections' dual bumper winner/fairly useful 2m hurdle winner Secret Squirrel and showed up well when third at Exeter a couple of months ago. More to come and looks the one to beat. Third over 1m5f at Exeter and some of those behind have run well since. |

4th (10) (11/1 -38%) Through The Storm |
11/1(-38%) | (10) Through The Storm 11/1, Calyx gelding. Half-brother to 2 winners on Flat, including 5f/6f winner in USA Amanzi Yimpilo. Dam ran once on Flat. Could get involved if he stays (speedy Flat pedigree). Bred for the Flat but has travelled over from Ireland and perhaps the betting will guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (8/1 -78%) Risky Spin |
8/1(-78%) | (6) Risky Spin 8/1, Closely related to a winner, and half-brother to bumper winner Swashbuckle. Looked in need of experience (seventh) when sent off 10/11 for a bumper at Huntingdon last month but clearly thought capable of better. Only seventh at Huntingdon (good to soft) but he did go off a shade of odds-on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SECRET SNIPER showed ability when making the frame on his debut at Exeter in October and he could take a big step forward from that effort. The son of Stimulation may be able to put that experience to good use in order to get off the mark. Through The Storm is related to plenty of winners on the Flat and the booking of Brian Hayes catches the eye. Any market support behind newcomer The Egyptian Ginge would be interesting.
SECRET SNIPER is bred to do well in this sphere and offered plenty of promise when third at Exeter on debut a couple of months ago, so he's fancied to open his account for all that improvement is expected from Risky Spin, who was well supported first time out. There are several interesting newcomers in opposition, Urban Isle, a stablemate of the selection, being arguably the most notable.
Who knows what lurks amongst the newcomers but SECRET SNIPER has the benefit of experience after finishing third at Exeter.
Ths is the racecard key.
