1st (3) (5/6 -24%) D'jo Dela Barriere |
5/6(-24%) | (3) D'jo Dela Barriere 5/6, Showed plenty in all 3 disciplines under Rules in Ireland, running well on sole hurdles start there at Punchestown. Probably needed the run back over hurdles on first start for this yard in warm maiden at Chepstow a fortnight ago and better expected down in trip now. Hurdle and point promise in Ireland; well beaten at Chepstow (2m3f; 40-1) recently.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2/1 +67%) Bits N Pieces |
2/1(+67%) | (1) Bits N Pieces 2/1, Well held in Warwick bumper and Stratford selling hurdle (mistakes and off bridle long way out). Probably wants further and tricky to fancy even in a moderate affair. Ran green throughout when fourth of eight on Stratford hurdles debut (2m2f, seller; 33-1).. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (16/5 +20%) Brave Move |
16/5(+20%) | (2) Brave Move 16/5, Failed to meet market expectations when down the field in bumpers at Market Rasen and Worcester (lost shoe) 10 months apart. Could do better now hurdling in thin race. Didn't show much in two attempts in bumpers; switch to obstacles could yield improvement.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (10/1 +9%) New Man |
10/1(+9%) | (5) New Man 10/1, Manatee gelding. Dam, 2¼m hurdle winner in France, half-sister to smart hurdler (stayed 2½m) Renneti. Makes some appeal on paper and starts out in a very winnable novice. Third foal from the French 2m2f hurdle winner Nouvelle Destinee; debuts at a modest level.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (100/1 -52%) Bestgetgoing |
100/1(-52%) | (6) Bestgetgoing 100/1, Well held in Ffos Las bumper (hooded) and pulled up in Bangor novice hurdle 18 months apart. Struggling by halfway when pulled up on recent hurdles debut at Bangor (2m; 200-1).. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (22/1 -22%) Ghost Pepper |
22/1(-22%) | (4) Ghost Pepper 22/1, From a good family but down the field in 2m Stratford hurdles 4 months apart and likely to need time and distance. Modest fourth on hurdles debut; toiled throughout back at Stratford (2m; 200-1) since.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
D'JO DELA BARRIERE sets the standard and has been found a good opportunity to make his experience count on just his third start under Rules. Bits N Pieces was green when fourth in a selling hurdle at Stratford last month and can figure with a step forward here. New Man appeals on pedigree and warrants a market inspection on his racecourse bow.
D'JO DELA BARRIERE probably needed the run starting out for Evan Williams after 6 months off at Chepstow and with this race lacking the same depth he looks the way to go. New Man and Brave Move certainly aren't overfaced for their first go over hurdles and wouldn't need to be anything out of the ordinary to have a say.
Preference is for D'JO DELA BARRIERE who is capable of better than he was able to demonstrate on stable debut at Chepstow.

1st (1) (5/4 -72%) Midnight Exit |
5/4(-72%) | (1) Midnight Exit 5/4, Fairly useful form when winning 17f newcomers hurdle at Clairefontaine (by length from now 136-rated Zaine) in June. Not so good in the mud at Auteuil 30 days ago but this looks much easier. Penalised for debut maiden win at Clairefontaine (2m1f, very soft); British debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2/1 -67%) Matwana |
2/1(-67%) | (2) Matwana 2/1, Third in 7.5f maiden at Deauville in January, only outing on Flat for Christopher Head (unraced here for David Menuisier, sold 60,000 gns in July). In good hands for hurdles debut and no surprise to see her win. Joined this trainer for 60,000gns; interesting to see how she fares over hurdles.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/4 +86%) Window Of Time |
9/4(+86%) | (4) Window Of Time 9/4, Fair maiden on the Flat in Ireland for Joseph O'Brien and has run to a modest level in similar events over hurdles the last twice. Midnight Exit and Matwana are both stronger here. Signs of promise at Ludlow (third) and Fakenham (runner-up); has a positive role to play.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (80/1 +20%) Serendipitous Lady |
80/1(+20%) | (3) Serendipitous Lady 80/1, Modest handicapper on the Flat and well held for this yard in AW handicap and one of these events at Fakenham (tongue tied) last month. Modest on the Flat (1-11); lacked fluency when a distant third on recent hurdles debut.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Having joined her current connections for 60,000gns after just one start over an extended 7f on the Flat in France, Matwana is an intriguing proposition on her NH debut even though her pedigree leans more towards speed than stamina. However, MIDNIGHT EXIT has shown ability over hurdles in France and could be tough to deaL with. Window Of Time appeals more than Serendipitous Lady based on the evidence available so far.
French-runner MIDNIGHT EXIT is worth another chance having beaten a now 136-rated filly first time up in the summer. She struggled in a deeper race at Auteuil more recently but this looks easier. Harry Derham's Matwana has solid credentials starting out in this sphere and is the obvious danger.
The intriguing one is MATWANA who should appreciate the underfoot conditions and could possess the ability to score on her hurdle debut

1st (2) (11/2 +45%) Langley Hundred |
11/2(+45%) | (2) Langley Hundred 11/2, It's now 13 runs since his last win in 2022 and he came in only fifth of 8 in handicap chase at Fontwell (26f, soft) 20 days ago. Others appeal more. Maiden who twice went close over 3m2f in June; return to good ground will suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (16/1 -14%) Faded Fantasy |
16/1(-14%) | (4) Faded Fantasy 16/1, Fourteen runs since his last win in 2023 but he posted a respectable fourth of 8 in handicap hurdle here (25.5f, good) 29 days ago. Much respected now going chasing. Hard to be confident about but has the ability to figure if taking to fences.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (2/1 +20%) Mistymal |
2/1(+20%) | (7) Mistymal 2/1, Irish point winner who made a winning chasing debut under Rules in 8-runner handicap over C&D (good) 29 days ago, forging clear run-in. Should have more to offer. Well in the mix. Straight off the mark over fences when winning over C&D last month; 4lb rise looks fair.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/1 -43%) Anytrixwilldo |
10/1(-43%) | (1) Anytrixwilldo 10/1, Fair form at best over hurdles but made mistakes when beating only one at Warwick (2m4f) on his first go over the larger obstacles last month. More is required. Soundly beaten on chase/handicap debut and needs this longer trip to turn things around.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (3/1 +25%) Ballynaheer |
3/1(+25%) | (3) Ballynaheer 3/1, A fair 2m4f winner over hurdles who has made a promising start in this sphere, patiently ridden when a running-on third in handicap chases at Uttoxeter and Wincanton. A player with more to offer. Placed on both starts over fences and holds strong claims with conditions ideal.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (11/1 +8%) Blackacre |
11/1(+8%) | (8) Blackacre 11/1, Remains a maiden and he was a below-form fifth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Ffos Las (23.9f, soft) 30 days ago. Needs to step forward starting out over fences. Maiden hurdler but showed promise and a likely type to improve for this switch to fences.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (13/2 +35%) Best Mate Dave |
13/2(+35%) | (6) Best Mate Dave 13/2, Got back on track in first-time cheekpieces when fifth of 10 in handicap chase here (20.9f, good) 29 days ago. Blinkers go on now and weighted to go well off an easing mark. Fair fifth on chase debut here (2m5f); each-way claims back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (33/1 +0%) Testflight |
33/1(+0%) | (9) Testflight 33/1, Maiden hurdler/chaser who was pulled up in handicap hurdle at Stratford (18.7f, good to soft) 12 days ago. Cheekpieces are reached for now. Exposed 7yo who is well out of the weights; needs much more for first-time cheekpieces.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MISTYMAL saw the trip out well to justify favouritism over C&D on his chasing debut last month and should have plenty more to offer. A 4lb higher mark is far from insurmountable in this company and back-to-back wins could be imminent for the Tim Vaughan-trained gelding. Fellow last-time-out winner Pawpaw is a serious threat under a 7lb penalty for last Friday's 3m2f success at Fontwell, although Ballynaheer has shown promise over fences and also warrants consideration.
An open handicap in which preference is for BALLYNAHEER who has shaped well on both his starts to date over fences under patient tactics and looks to have a fair bit more to offer. C&D scorer Mistymal also has better days ahead of him and is next on the list ahead of the handily-weighted Best Mate Dave and newcomers Faded Fantasy and Blackacre.
Mistymal needs respecting off a 4lb rise for his recent C&D win but marginal preference is for BALLYNAHEER.

Iron D'ex |
(6) (10/1 +17%)10/1(+17%) | (6) Iron D'ex 10/1, Back on track from a reduced mark to make a winning start over fences at Ludlow (2½m, good) on return last month. Heavy ground possibly against him at Bangor since but others make more appeal all the same. Winning chasing debut at Ludlow (2m4f, good) but bombed out on soft at Bangor next time.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) (2/1 +43%) Moodofthemoment |
2/1(+43%) | (5) Moodofthemoment 2/1, Winner of 4 of his 7 starts between the flags and opened Rules account at the thirteenth attempt in a 10-runner C&D handicap chase last month. More needed up 5 lb in this stronger race but he's considered all the same. Raised 5lb for last month's C&D win (good); every chance he'll be in the thick of things.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (5/4 +23%) Superbolt |
5/4(+23%) | (7) Superbolt 5/4, No great shakes over hurdles/on the Flat in Ireland but has upped his game for new yard, runner-up in a Perth handicap hurdle in September prior to again finding just one too good on recent chase debut chase at Ludlow (2½m, good to soft). Pulled well clear of the third there and 3 lb rise fine. Runner-up on Ludlow chasing debut (2m4f, good); Sam Twiston-Davies replaces 7lb claimers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (18/1 -80%) Fat Sam |
18/1(-80%) | (1) Fat Sam 18/1, Four-time chase winner who came close to ending his losing run from a slipping mark at Fontwell last time. Back up 4 lb and while he is unlikely to be far away, some of these are more appealing from a win point of view. Tongue strap added. Only just worn down at Fontwell (2m3f, good to soft) last time; tongue-tie is applied.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (13/2 -63%) Mahler Moon |
13/2(-63%) | (3) Mahler Moon 13/2, Placed on couple of occasions over hurdles for Dan Skelton and encouraging start switched to fences for new yard when third of 6 at Southwell (20.4f, good). 2 lb lower here and while a return to 3m+ wouldn't go amiss, he is nevertheless interesting. Kept on from off the pace on recent Southwell (2m4f; third of six) stable/chase debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (11/2 +27%) Cawthorne Banker |
11/2(+27%) | (4) Cawthorne Banker 11/2, Fairly useful bumper performer who doubled his tally over hurdles off this mark at Fontwell (17.7f, good) in May. Underwhelming start to chasing at Worcester but stepped up on that when fourth of 10 back from a break at Ludlow last month. Each-way chance. Won over hurdles at Kempton (2m) and Fontwell (2m1f); slow progress over fences so far.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Superbolt has taken the silver medal home on both starts for the Nigel Twiston-Daives stable and should remain competitive off 3lb higher than his latest effort at Ludlow. However, the vote goes to MAHLER MOON, who was third at Southwell last month and was dropped 2lb for that effort. With Jack Hogan claiming a handy 3lb this time, he could be the one to beat. Fat Sam completes the shortlist
SUPERBOLT had the rest well beaten off when a promising second to the in-form Nickelforce on his chase debut at Ludlow and, with the likelihood of better to come from this 4-y-o, he will take plenty of stopping. Mahler Moon is also open to improvement in this sphere and is feared most ahead of last-time-out C&D winner Moodofthemoment.
A tricky race with C&D winner Moodofthemoment, Fat Sam and the 4yo SUPERBOLT all arriving in peak form.

1st (11) (3/1 +79%) Greenways |
3/1(+79%) | (11) Greenways 3/1, Poor form but he did reach the frame 3 times in low-grade handicap hurdles for Dominic Ffrench Davis. 3 lb out of the weights on first outing for new trainer Tom Symonds. Should win a race of this nature if learning to settle; has left Dominic Ffrench Davis.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (15/2 +17%) New Found Fame |
15/2(+17%) | (4) New Found Fame 15/2, Jumping errors meant he was unable to progress as might have been expected over fences and he's been unable to make a significant impact back hurdling, albeit last week's 19.5f course fourth was respectable. On a losing run but on a good mark should he build on last week's promising return.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 -14%) Ted's Friend |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Ted's Friend 4/1, Creditable second of 9 in handicap hurdle at Fontwell (19f, good to soft) 39 days ago, bumping into an improver. Considered. Competitive again lately and remains well handicapped on past form; respected.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (4/1 +56%) Express Surprise |
4/1(+56%) | (8) Express Surprise 4/1, Reacted well to a tongue tie when an improved second in Stratford handicap in June but not in quite the same form when fifth at Wincanton 4 months later. Has first-time cheekpieces added to his tongue strap now. Could well figure with a recent run behind him if responding well to the new headgear.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (25/1 +24%) G'day Aussie |
25/1(+24%) | (9) G'day Aussie 25/1, Veteran now but shaped as if retaining plenty of ability back from 12 months off when 15¾ lengths fourth of 9 to Karakoram at Ludlow (3m, good to soft) 19 days ago. Needs to build on that now. Didn't shape badly on last month's comeback and the drop back in trip will help.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (4/1 +38%) State Of Fame |
4/1(+38%) | (3) State Of Fame 4/1, Bumper winner. Yet to win over hurdles but struck 3 times in points last season and should find this trip more suitable than the 2m he ran over on last month's stable debut. A market move would be interesting. Made a promising stable debut and he's worth considering back up in trip off 2lb lower.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (17/2 -6%) Opera King |
17/2(-6%) | (5) Opera King 17/2, Posted best effort in this sphere when creditable second of 9 at Market Rasen (18.5f, good to firm) in September but more to it than the longer trip when a below-form fifth over 3m at Ludlow since. A first-time visor replaces his cheekpieces now. Worth considering back in trip and returned to a quicker surface, with different headgear.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (25/1 -56%) Scintillante |
25/1(-56%) | (6) Scintillante 25/1, Runner-up twice in maiden hurdles over the summer but not in the same form on his last 2 outings. His yard's good form of late provides hope that he can bounce back to his best but others still look stronger for the win. Form has dipped on last two starts and he goes up in trip with a bit to prove.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (50/1 -52%) Pollyonesock |
50/1(-52%) | (12) Pollyonesock 50/1, Poor maiden who has failed to get competitive from low marks since joining this yard. Hard to make a case for. Soundly beaten behind Karakoram latest; difficult to recommend 6lb out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (20/1 0%) Izzy's Grey |
20/1(0%) | (7) Izzy's Grey 20/1, Second on his C&D handicap debut for Jennie Candlish in October 2023 but hasn't managed to build on that in his 3 starts since. First start for 5 months. Others are more obvious. Has a workable mark, but out of form when last seen; has a bit to prove back from a break.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Melton Mossy just prevailed by a neck in a stronger event than this at Ludlow five days ago and holds an obvious chance, despite a 7lb penalty. However, he might come out second best to KARAKORAM, who returned from a break to score in decisive style over 3m at the same venue on his latest outing. The nine-year-old only has a 6lb higher rating to contend with and could complete a double. Ted's Friend is another to note.
TED'S FRIEND looks to be building up to something and gets the vote for Fergal O'Brien. The thriving Melton Mossy rates an obvious threat, while also don't be surprised to see State of Fame leave the form of his first outing for Tom Lacey behind now stepping back up in trip.
Ted's Friend is respected but winning pointer STATE OF FAME shaped promisingly over a trip short of his best on stable debut.

1st (1) (13/8 +46%) Jazz King |
13/8(+46%) | (1) Jazz King 13/8, Looked a useful prospect when making a winning chase debut at Ludlow on final outing for Sam Thomas. Pulled up both starts over fences for new yard last season but showed ability remains back hurdling at the start of the summer and returns from a break with his yard going well. A player if reproducing his Stratford second in June now back in handicap company.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/2 -64%) Our Dylan |
9/2(-64%) | (4) Our Dylan 9/2, Won handicaps over C&D and at Stratford (18.5f) in May. Good placed efforts at Newton Abbot on next 2 starts and player if returning from a 140-day break in the same form. Likely to make his presence felt if ready to roll back from a break.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (3/1 +45%) Coup De Gold |
3/1(+45%) | (6) Coup De Gold 3/1, Won over 17f at Sedgefield for David Thompson in January and has made the frame on 3 of his 4 completed starts since switched to present yard, finishing second of 9 at Stratford under Eleanor Williams last month. Considered. Poor strike rate (2-67) but could play a part if building on his recent Stratford second.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (9/2 +68%) John Betjeman |
9/2(+68%) | (3) John Betjeman 9/2, Losing run stretches back to spring of last year and well held back from a break at Southwell last month. Potentially well handicapped but leap of faith required. Exposed 8yo who has to be forgiven last month's underwhelming reappearance.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (33/1 +0%) Eagle Court |
33/1(+0%) | (7) Eagle Court 33/1, Fair performer on Flat but no real impact over hurdles, including switched to a handicap at Chepstow a fortnight ago. Well beaten on last month's handicap debut and hard to make a case for.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (15/2 -25%) Rocky's Glory |
15/2(-25%) | (8) Rocky's Glory 15/2, No worthwhile form in a bumper/maiden hurdles, although he was backed on his Newton Abbot stable debut in August only to pull too hard. Has a hood on now to hopefully help him to settle better and it'll be interesting to see if there's money for him again now handicapping. Tends to ruin his chances by pulling too hard; easy to look elsewhere.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
OUR DYLAN would have finished closer to the eventual winner but for being hampered at a crucial stage when third over an extended 2m2f at Newton Abbot when last seen. Off an unchanged mark, he gets the vote to go two places better on his return to action. Runner-up at Stratford on his most recent start, Jazz King can emerge as the main danger off what looks a manageable mark, while Coup De Gold is also respected with match-fitness on his side.
With the Alastair Ralph stable among the winners a chance is taken on JAZZ KING, who potentially has a bit of class for this level. Our Dylan was in fine form when last seen and is second choice ahead of Coup de Gold. Ikigai Star would also firmly enter the reckoning if showing up after/instead of Kempton on Monday.
Topweight JAZZ KING (nap) was a good second in a novice hurdle at Stratford when last seen and earns the vote now back in a handicap.

1st (3) (3/1 +14%) Presenting Milan |
3/1(+14%) | (3) Presenting Milan 3/1, Bred for stamina and has shown plenty to work on when placed on both starts to date, third in a Worcester bumper 57 days ago. Merits consideration. Placed in a pair of bumpers at Stratford and Worcester; likely jto be thereabouts again.. |

2nd (5) (18/1 -50%) Celtic Queen |
18/1(-50%) | (5) Celtic Queen 18/1, 3,500 gns 3-y-o, Bated Breath filly. Closely related to 2 winners, including bumper winner/fair hurdler Colonial Empire, stays 2½m, and half-sister to a winner on Flat. Not without hope based on pedigree. Dam won at 1m6f/2m on AW; trainer 2-31 in bumpers over the last five years.. |

3rd (6) (9/2 0%) Chesky's In Milan |
9/2(0%) | (6) Chesky's In Milan 9/2, Didn't show much for Milton Harris despite being strong in the betting on her second outing. Hasn't been seen for 14 months and has joined a new yard now. Low-key in two attempts in bumpers (11-10 favourite at Fontwell) for Milton Harris in 2023. |

4th (1) (7/4 +56%) Desert Guest |
7/4(+56%) | (1) Desert Guest 7/4, 16,000 gns 3-y-o, Teofilo gelding. Half-brother to 1m winner Noble Patron. Dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdler (stays 2¾m) Halifax. One for shortlist on debut given connections. Third foal from an unraced dam; trainer is 5-35 (14%) in bumpers over the last five years.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (5/2 -67%) What U Wanna Do Is |
5/2(-67%) | (7) What U Wanna Do Is 5/2, Flemensfirth filly. Half-sister to bumper winner/fairly useful 17f hurdle winner No Time To Wait. Dam (c135/h139) 2m/17f hurdle/chase winner. Worth a chance to make a winning start. Out of useful hurdler/chaser; represents up-and-coming yard; market can guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (66/1 -32%) Topco |
66/1(-32%) | (4) Topco 66/1, Falco gelding. Dam, 5f-1¼m winner, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler (stayed 21f) Playa Blanca. Not an obvious sort on paper. Fifth foal from a modest 7f AW winner; likely best watched on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Those with experience under Rules don't appear to set a lofty standard, and it may pay to side with the newcomer WHAT U WANNA DO IS. James Owen has his string in fine form at present, and this 35,000-euro daughter of Flemensfirth can play a leading part in what looks an ordinary contest on her debut. Presenting Milan wasn't disgraced when third in a Worcester bumper in September and could put up the most resistance to the selection, while Desert Guest is also noteworthy, especially if the market speaks favourably.
WHAT U WANNA DO IS has a relation who won a bumper and represents a thriving stable, so she's preferred to Presenting Milan, who has shown a reasonable level of form in placing on both starts to date. Desert Guest is another notable newcomer.
The newcomer WHAT U WANNA DO IS looks the part on paper and represents an up-and-coming yard.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing.
