1st (2) ![]() Starcrossed Lover |
1/2(+67%) | (2) Starcrossed Lover 1/2, Promising individual. First run since leaving Colm Murphy and 4/1, won 11-runner novice hurdle at Windsor (16f, good to soft) 31 days ago, soon clear. Should progress further and worth a chance to defy the penalty. Looked a useful prospect in beating the odds-on favourite without much fuss at Windsor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Renoir |
14/1(-27%) | (6) Renoir 14/1, Made an encouraging bumper debut for Ian Williams when third of 9 at Bangor in April 2023. Yet to build on that, showing only minimal encouragement on hurdling debut. Arrives on the back of a good effort on the Flat, though, and has potential in this sphere. 1m4f winner; questionable what he achieved when a remote second at Wincanton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) ![]() Washington Singer |
50/1(-52%) | (10) Washington Singer 50/1, Some encouragement when third in a bumper at Wincanton but form is ordinary and he was unable to back it up at Uttoxeter 6 months later. Hard to make a strong case for back from a short break. First bumper run was encouraging and that offers hope ahead of this hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Palacio |
2/1(-60%) | (1) Palacio 2/1, Didn't achieve much in bumpers last season but a different proposition switched to hurdles on his reappearance, making all in a 2m Chepstow novice. Not disgraced at Cheltenham next time (went too hard) and definite player here. Went off too fast at Cheltenham last month and this is a whole lot easier. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Sonic Gold |
150/1(+0%) | (8) Sonic Gold 150/1, Runner-up sole start in points but no promise so far under Rules. Off 22 months. Has shown little promise under rules and is returning from another absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() King Ulanda |
25/1(-79%) | (3) King Ulanda 25/1, Landed a gamble in Huntingdon bumper in May for Tom Weston but yet to build on that over hurdles. Will be of more interest in handicaps. Bumper winner; some promise over hurdles but unlikely to be winning this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Midnight View |
50/1(-25%) | (4) Midnight View 50/1, Telescope gelding. Dam (c127/h118) 19f/21f hurdle/chase winner. Likely to need some time to get the hang of things. 6,000gns foal out of a useful 2m2f-2m5f hurdle/chase winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) ![]() Edmond |
16/1(+36%) | (13) Edmond 16/1, Fair bumper winner for Rod Millman who has made little impact over hurdles. Bumper winner; back from an absence she's offered little in two maiden hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) ![]() Tracking Treasure |
125/1(-213%) | (9) Tracking Treasure 125/1, Unplaced both starts in points and failed to beat a rival in a bumper at Fairyhouse for Mary Doyle. Hard to fancy on debut for new yard. Not beaten far in a Fairyhouse bumper but was last of the seven runners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) ![]() Soldier Dan |
150/1(-88%) | (7) Soldier Dan 150/1, Placed on 2 of 5 starts in points but has shaped like more of a handicap project so far over hurdles. 0-5 in points and comfortably held in two hurdle races following an absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) ![]() Damzon |
50/1(+38%) | (12) Damzon 50/1, Runner-up on the second of 3 bumpers and has shown a bit of promise over hurdles but will be better off in handicaps in due course. Fair effort when unseating here last time but would have been fourth at best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) ![]() Cinderello |
200/1(-100%) | (11) Cinderello 200/1, Well held in 2 bumpers and she was beaten a long way starting out over hurdles here last month. Soundly beaten in two bumpers and suffered the same fate on her hurdling debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
PALACIO caused a minor surprise on his hurdling debut at Chepstow before being pitched into a better race at Cheltenham last month where he finished third after setting a decent pace. Back into calmer waters, Sam Thomas' gelding has been found an ideal opportunity to continue his progression. Starcrossed Lover has to enter calculations following his Windsor success, while Renoir appears best of the remainder.
STARCROSSED LOVER made an impressive start for this yard when easily landing a Windsor novice hurdle a month ago and, with further progress on the cards, he's fancied to edge out Palacio in a race that the pair should dominate.
Granted some controlled aggression from the front, PALACIO may have too much under the bonnet for Starcrossed Lover.

1st (7) ![]() Captain Boudet |
10/1(-11%) | (7) Captain Boudet 10/1, Made a positive return to the fray when third of 18 in 19.5f Chepstow handicap in November and ran to a similar level when sixth of 11 at Exeter (21.6f, heavy) just under 6 weeks ago. Seems to be building up to something and the switch to fences could unlock more. Tongue tie applied. Placed over hurdles; pointing background and could develop into a superior chaser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Golden De Coeur |
9/2(+44%) | (5) Golden De Coeur 9/2, Fair hurdles form and bettered his inauspicious chase debut when fourth of 9 back from a 7-month break at Windsor (20.2f, good to soft) last month. Eased 3 lb since and this dual point winner is probably capable of better in this sphere. Second chase run was better and potentially well handicapped on his hurdle form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Fever Dream |
22/1(+12%) | (6) Fever Dream 22/1, Winner over hurdles at Perth in June and followed that with a couple of respectable efforts in defeat. Yet to fire over fences but it's still early days (crying out for return to 3m). Behind Golden De Coeur the last time on good to soft and he probably wants drier ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Intimate |
9/2(-35%) | (4) Intimate 9/2, Made a promising start over fences when runner-up at Sandown on return last month but was found wanting for pace even in a well-run race on testing ground when fourth of 8 in at Haydock (16.3f, heavy) since. Step up in trip sure to suit and remains with potential. Second at Sandown and conditions were extremely testing when fourth at Haydock. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Moodofthemoment |
3/1(-50%) | (3) Moodofthemoment 3/1, Notched third success over fences when decisively seeing off 10 rivals in a 2½m Ludlow handicap 4 weeks ago. Another personal best needed up 8 lb but he's clearly thriving and another bold show may well be on the way. Raised 8lb for winning so well at Ludlow but still commands the utmost respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) ![]() The Good Doctor |
13/8(+35%) | (1) The Good Doctor 13/8, Fairly useful hurdler who looks the part for chasing and has found just one too strong on both starts in this sphere so far, going down narrowly at Newbury (16.4f, good to soft) 18 days ago. Can make amends here upped to 2½m for the first time. Excellent seconds in both his chases and probably ready for this extra yardage. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
THE GOOD DOCTOR has taken well to chasing with a brace of runner-up efforts at Warwick and Newbury last month and a step up in trip might help to get the six-year-old a first victory in this discipline. Moodofthemoment went up 8lb following a return to winning ways at Ludlow in decisive fashion, while Intimate is feared most of the remainder.
Cases can be made for most, but the vote goes to THE GOOD DOCTOR, who has found just one too strong on both starts over the larger obstacles so far but Ben Pauling's 6-y-o can make it third time lucky with this extra distance promising to suit. Moodofthemoment made it 3 wins from his last 4 starts when scoring at Ludlow 4 weeks ago so heads up the opposition, with Intimate taken to edge out Golden de Coeur for third.
Preference is for INTIMATE, who ran a race full of promise at Sandown and his heavy-ground Haydock run can be forgiven.

1st (6) ![]() Sole Solution |
11/10(+20%) | (6) Sole Solution 11/10, Dual bumper winner who understandably shaped as if needing the run after almost 2 years off when a well-held sixth at Bangor in November. Subsequently chased home a potentially smart novice in Sixmilebridge at Leicester (20.5f, heavy) and likely to progress further. Probably beaten by a very good horse at Leicester (won easily). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Buckna |
6/4(+14%) | (2) Buckna 6/4, Changed hands for £350,000 after winning sole start in Irish points and shaped well when runner-up on Rules debut in a Ffos Las novice in November (15.8f, heavy). Went backwards upped in trip at Newbury subsequently but well worth another chance. £350,000 recruit; beaten fav in both his hurdles but he's up to winning a race like this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() King Califet |
11/2(-65%) | (1) King Califet 11/2, £110,000 Califet gelding. Dam (c111/h110), 17f-3m hurdle/chase winner, half-sister to useful hurdler (stayed 23f) Boreham Bill. Runner-up sole start in Irish points and showed clear promise for all that he ran out a very fortunate winner on his Newbury hurdles debut 4 weeks ago. Can improve. Gifted the race at Newbury after the clear leader came down at the final hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Gamblergo |
25/1(+24%) | (3) Gamblergo 25/1, Successful on sole outing in Irish points but went with little promise switched to hurdles at Uttoxeter in November. Has had a breathing operation since. Had wind operation since a forgettable hurdle debut; did win a point, albeit a weak one. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Tuscany |
33/1(-106%) | (8) Tuscany 33/1, Made no impact sole outing in bumpers at Warwick last month. Significantly up in trip for hurdle bow. Hinted at some ability in a Warwick bumper, trailing the winner by 12l come the line. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Johnny Boy |
66/1(-100%) | (4) Johnny Boy 66/1, Well held in a bumper and was always behind when making his hurdles bow at Ffos Las (heavy) 56 days ago. One for the longer term. Beaten 31l in a bumper and 56l in a 2m4f maiden hurdle, both on soft ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() Strong As Steel |
12/1(+25%) | (7) Strong As Steel 12/1, Hadn't looked much in bumpers and was never dangerous on last month's hurdling debut at Uttoxeter. Ran well in a bumper here; some positives to take from hurdling debut at Uttoxeter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) ![]() Dontworrywegotthis |
200/1(+0%) | (9) Dontworrywegotthis 200/1, Offered little only start in bumpers and has fared no better in 2 starts since switched to hurdles. Beaten over 50l in a bumper and two hurdle races at Ludlow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) ![]() Poete Ardent |
200/1(-33%) | (5) Poete Ardent 200/1, Showed nothing when pulled up in novice hurdle at Warwick (21f, soft, 300/1) on NH debut 34 days ago. 300-1 for a 2m5f maiden at Warwick and showed pretty much nothing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
King Califet had the race presented to him on a plate when making a winning Rules debut at Newbury and he will need to have improved considerably from that performance to defy a 7lb penalty. With that in mind, BUCKNA is given the benefit of the doubt after disappointing on the same card Emma Lavelle's gelding was successful at. The five-year-old had shown a fair amount of promise at Ffos Las the time before and anything close to that makes him a big player. Johnny Boy is noted too.
BUCKNA was a bit disappointing upped in trip at Newbury last month, but he's well worth another chance based on his hurdling debut promise, a performance supported by the clock. King Califet ran out a very fortunate winner on his hurdling debut at Newbury but shaped clear second best on the day nonetheless and can be expected to improve, with Sole Solution also of firm interest.
It will be disappointing should BUCKNA not live up to his big-money transfer sooner or later. He contested a stronger race last time.

1st (6) ![]() Jour D'evasion |
10/3(+5%) | (6) Jour D'evasion 10/3, Novice hurdle winner last season and second to smart mare at Sandown (2m) in November. Bettered that effort when second at Wincanton (15.2f, heavy) 41 days ago, chased home idling winner. Respected back up in trip. Creeping up the weights but has scope to improve for this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Santos Blue |
10/1(-43%) | (2) Santos Blue 10/1, Likeable type who resumed progress during second half of last term, winning over 2½m in the mud at Wetherby and Uttoxeter. Should strip fitter for last month's Doncaster reappearance and must enter calculations. Won five handicaps; possibly needed his comeback race and that was encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Knight Of Allen |
7/4(-40%) | (3) Knight Of Allen 7/4, Lightly-raced hurdler who posted his best effort yet when creditable third of 14 in handicap (14/1) at Haydock (18.9f, soft) 53 days ago. This slightly longer trip promises to suit and he warrants plenty of respect. Good third in a valuable race on handicap debut; should have more in the locker. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Stolen Silver |
14/1(-17%) | (1) Stolen Silver 14/1, Very smart chaser at his best but made early mistakes when pulled up on his Chepstow return and failed to make an impact back over hurdles at Aintree next time. Has been off a couple of months. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Down the weights in new headgear and returning to softer ground looks a big plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Lemoncello |
5/1(-25%) | (5) Lemoncello 5/1, Useful recruit from France who again gave signs of finding his feet for this stable when second in 4-runner affair over C&D 25 days ago, albeit flattered by proximity to winner. One-paced second in a small field here latest; gives the impression he wants further. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Having posted a good third in a competitive 14-runner affair on his handicap bow at Haydock in November, KNIGHT OF ALLEN looks ready to strike. A 3lb rise in the ratings looks workable for Jane Williams' gelding and this extra yardage looks likely to suit. Lemoncello lost little in defeat when runner-up to the classy Nemean Lion over C&D last time out and the six-year-old is feared most, ahead of Santos Blue.
KNIGHT OF ALLEN posted his best effort yet when third in a useful handicap at Haydock towards the end of November and, with the still longer trip sure to suit, he's an appealing candidate to notch a second career success. Santos Blue is a likeable type who should be all the better for his reappearance, while Jour d'Evasion is well worth another try at this trip given how he shaped at Wincanton.
A good handicap but the one they all have to beat is KNIGHT OF ALLEN (nap) who held his own in a strong race on handicap debut.

![]() Bobbi's Beauty |
(5) 3/1(+10%) | (5) Bobbi's Beauty 3/1, With reappearance run behind her, showed much improved form when running out a convincing winner at Lingfield (16f, good to soft) in December. Record now stands at 2 from 4 in chases and she can add to her tally with more still to offer. Improving mare who won easily last time and the one to beat despite an 8lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) ![]() I Shut That D'or |
7/2(-5%) | (1) I Shut That D'or 7/2, Has been rejuvenated by the switch to front-running tactics, making it 2 wins from his last 3 starts with a bold-jumping display at Plumpton (19.8f, good to soft) 30 days ago. Capable of another bold bid in his current form. Won well at Plumpton and a big leap at the last suggested he had a bit left in the tank. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Zestful Hope |
10/3(+33%) | (3) Zestful Hope 10/3, Fair handicap hurdler/chaser who went agonisingly close to getting off the mark in this sphere at Uttoxeter in November. Ran to similar level when third at Ludlow (20f, soft) last time and he can give another good account. 3-4 at Hereford as opposed to 0-23 at other courses; returns in fairly good form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Jikala |
10/1(-11%) | (7) Jikala 10/1, French import who was successful in juvenile hurdle here in March 2023. Some encouragement after 20 month-absence when sixth of 8 in handicap at Leicester (22.7f) on chase debut in December, but never a threat back at Leicester (20.1f) 18 days ago. Course winner over hurdles but few positives to take from her first two chases. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Another Folly |
3/1(+33%) | (4) Another Folly 3/1, Fair form over hurdles and has matched that level sent chasing this season, bumping into an improver but finishing clear of the rest when second of 9 in handicap at Wincanton (20.2f, soft) in December. Not taken lightly. No match for the winner in his last two races but shouldn't too far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() River Robe |
16/1(-33%) | (6) River Robe 16/1, Yet to score for current yard but showed more than previously over fences when fourth in handicap at Ludlow (20f, soft) 4 weeks ago, a bad mistake 2 out probably costing her third. Task is now to build on latest effort. Can probably pick up a handicap over fences but does appear to have a blunder in her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Tilly Toughnut |
9/1(+36%) | (2) Tilly Toughnut 9/1, Much improved when making a successful handicap hurdle debut at Exeter (16.7f, heavy) in February last year. However, wasn't able to repeat that effort in her 2 subsequent outings and off 9 months ahead of chase debut. Bred for fences but returns from a lengthy break with something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (8) ![]() Johnny Mac |
10/1(-25%) | (8) Johnny Mac 10/1, Completed a hat-trick for current yard a year ago, including a win at this course (16f), but yet to fire so far this season, in first-time cheekpieces when well held at Warwick (16.2f, soft) 15 days ago. Others more persuasive at present. Cold this season and this new headgear combination did nothing for him last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
I Shut That D'or arrives in fine fettle having regained the winning thread at Plumpton last month and he must enter calculations. However, a 6lb rise in the ratings does demand more of Joe Tizzard's charge and ANOTHER FOLLY is slightly more appealing. The six-year-old has performed with credit on all three starts over fences this season and a reproduction of his latest second at Wincanton might be good enough. Zestful Hope is also noted.
BOBBI'S BEAUTY stepped forward from her return when scoring in good style at Lingfield in December and, after only 4 starts in chases, she can build on that effort to follow up. Another Folly has shown promise over fences this season and is respected, with I Shut That d'Or also in the mix.
The improving BOBBI'S BEAUTY was authoratitive at Lingfield in making it 2-4 over fences and she can deal with an 8lb rise.

1st (1) ![]() Chief Sunday |
7/1(-100%) | (1) Chief Sunday 7/1, Left previous form behind when winning 3-runner event at Market Rasen (16.6f, soft) on handicap debut 49 days ago, driven out. Likely to do better again, so merits plenty of respect. Won a three-runner handicap with a bit up his sleeve at Market Rasen; improving. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Lanesborough |
11/4(+54%) | (8) Lanesborough 11/4, Placed both starts in Irish points and looks a likely improver switched to handicaps after three quiet runs over hurdles. Worth a market check. Some promise in novices; this could be his level now sent handicapping in a Class 4. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) ![]() Voix De Bocelli |
25/1(-25%) | (9) Voix De Bocelli 25/1, Fair form in France for Francois Nicolle but boasts a mixed record under various codes for present stable. Not disgraced at Wincanton last time but more is required. 0-8 as a hurdler after going down by 14l in a handicap at Wincanton; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Activist |
11/1(-47%) | (4) Activist 11/1, Latest win in hurdle at Leicester in November. 9/2, sixth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Leicester (15.5f, heavy) 45 days ago. Blinkers back on but isn't the most reliable. Has never been the easiest to predict but very capable of having some say. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Double Dragon |
13/8(+51%) | (5) Double Dragon 13/8, Stepped up on hurdle debut third when taking a 2m Ffos Las maiden (good) in May and firmly back on track when an excellent second at Wincanton on return. Looks the one to beat if he's in the same form. Respectable efforts in both handicaps and Chad Bament takes away 10lb this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Thankyourluckystar |
7/1(+0%) | (2) Thankyourluckystar 7/1, Resumed winning ways at Worcester (2½m, good to soft) in June and backed it up with a good third at Southwell 5 months later. Latest effort best excused and the drop back to 2m could be in his favour. Dual handicap winner; 2m5f may have stretched him at Ludlow last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) ![]() Miss Pearl |
125/1(-257%) | (11) Miss Pearl 125/1, Found to be lame after finishing fourth of 6 in novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, good to soft) back in July 2023. Up in distance for her return which should suit but a long absence to overcome so might be best to look elsewhere. 9yo mare who is an eight-race maiden and has been absent for 546 days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Falco Des Pins |
28/1(-100%) | (6) Falco Des Pins 28/1, Ex-French performer who was steadily progressive last season, best effort yet when second of in juvenile hurdle at Angers (16.9f) in March. Yet to fire for current yard and arrives with something to prove. Pulled up and tailed off in 2m4f/2m5f handicaps for this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) ![]() Monsant |
28/1(-27%) | (3) Monsant 28/1, Definite promise (fair form) on first 2 starts in maiden hurdles during 2023. Hasn't kicked on from that positive start so far this season, including on debut for this yard at Wincanton a month ago. Has a bit to prove. Has shown ability but has offered little in his two handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) ![]() Casi Crudo |
12/1(+0%) | (7) Casi Crudo 12/1, Juvenile hurdle winner in December 2022. Generally consistent subsequently and entitled to need his return from 13 months off at Ascot last month. Could get back on track. Capable off this mark on old form; quiet reappearance was in a handicap at Ascot. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() Dartman |
100/1(-525%) | (10) Dartman 100/1, Fair maiden handicapper on Flat and signs of aptitude over hurdles. May strip fitter for sixth in C&D novice last month and opening mark could be lenient. Maiden who has flattered to deceive under both codes; handicap debut over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
DOUBLE DRAGON built on his fourth-placed handicap debut effort at Wincanton when finishing second at that same course on Boxing Day. A 2lb higher mark may prove inconsequential for Anthony Honeyball's five-year-old, with Chad Bament's 10lb claim in the plate a big positive. The biggest threat is last-time-out winner Chief Sunday, while Thankyourluckystar could go well from the front dropping in trip.
DOUBLE DRAGON returned in top form when second in a 15-runner contest at Wincanton in December and, with a conditional taking off a useful 10 lb, he's worth a chance to go one better at the possible expense of Chief Sunday, who was successful at Market Rasen last time. Thankyourluckystar should benefit from the drop back in trip, so he's another to consider.
A chance is taken on LANESBOROUGH, who was placed in points and his qualifying runs haven't been devoid of promise.
